Marshals | Making of Marshals: Building the World Behind the Story | Episode 4
CBS
0:02 Usually I'll get a script and I'll get to know
0:04 the characters and then want to create a world for them.
0:07 These characters in the show are so rich.
0:10 It was exciting and the best experience.
0:19 This was such a massive set to put together in a short amount of time.
0:24 You really want to bring to life what's in the script
0:27 and then you imagine it and then you do research.
0:32 We work with construction and [music] they build the set and then
0:35 we come in and add our elements to it and our layers.
0:38 So, a lot [music] of the furniture, the details, the mugs, frames, everything.
0:42 Then we hand it over to shooting crew.
0:46 The armory is my baby.
0:47 From start to finish, that was one of the main things that I
0:50 really wanted to focus in on and help get right.
0:54 I try to make the set living, breathing because the characters are growing.
0:59 I want the sets to evolve with the characters.
1:03 Once you start to add the personal elements,
1:05 it's really what like you enjoy and what draws your eye.
1:08 So, these are [music] lights that Maria, our designer,
1:12 had drawn up and rendered that we were able to bring to life.
1:15 We had one of our set dressers put them together and to be
1:18 [music] able to see them actually lit up on the set is amazing.
1:23 We want to have a set that flows.
1:25 The writers give us some of the information,
1:27 but we try to guess ahead in the future what makes sense,
1:31 the things that we would need.
1:32 So, that's a fun set.
1:33 I hope people enjoy it when they see it.
