Brave Wilderness
0:00 What's going on guys?
0:00 Welcome to our first ever Becoming Brave weekend,
0:04 where we've invited a select group of Brave Wilderness subscribers
0:07 to test their adventure skills on a real brave wilderness expedition.
0:11 Now, will this crew have what it takes to become brave?
0:13 It's time to find out.
0:16 With help from the Knowledgeable Adventure Guides at Zion Guru,
0:19 we're taking our subscribers on a total
0:21 of five adventures over the course of this weekend
0:23 in Zion National Park to see if they have what it takes to become brave.
0:27 To kick things off, we're testing bravery by going canyoneering.
0:31 You've never gone canyoneering before.
0:33 This is a great way to learn how to be
0:36 on rope and repel down off shear cliffs and rock bases.
0:40 It just so happens this group's gonna do it.
0:41 One of the most beautiful places you can go, canyoneering on the planet.
0:44 This is gonna be epic.
0:45 All right, let's go.
0:46 We got this Canyoneering Expedition number one.
0:50 All right, guys, here we go.
0:52 Max was our first volunteer to get on the ropes and rappel down the cliff.
1:00 Dude, you're doing awesome.
1:04 Yeah.
1:05 All right.
1:06 Thank you.
1:07 Did great.
1:08 His bravery paved the way for the whole crew to get in on the action.
1:14 How about that?
1:16 My hands?
1:17 Yeah.
1:17 We're becoming brave out here guys,
1:19 and our guides had the right level of challenge for everybody in our group.
1:24 What'd you think?
1:25 What'd you think before?
1:26 Were you nervous?
1:26 Yeah.
1:26 How was that?
1:27 Oh, yeah.
1:27 Good job.
1:33 Got it.
1:34 Yeah.
1:34 Seven.
1:35 Dude, high five.
1:36 How was that?
1:38 Dude, you did so good.
1:39 Look how far you came down.
1:42 How awesome was that?
1:43 All right, let's go do a bigger one.
1:45 All right, let's go.
1:46 You're doing great.
1:47 As soon as our crew all had a chance to learn the ropes,
1:49 we ventured towards the bigger cliffs
1:51 to really push outside of our comfort zones.
1:54 There is a much larger rappel zone ahead,
1:59 which we're gonna treat as our finale to canyoneering today.
2:03 Nothing like this place.
2:04 This place is so epic.
2:05 Biggest rappel the day.
2:08 Let's go.
2:10 Macy went first and scaled down the 100 foot cliff like a pro.
2:15 How was that one fun?
2:16 I- Like that one.
2:17 The view was insane.
2:18 I gotta say, for a group with a lot of first timers on rope,
2:21 these guys are doing incredibly well.
2:23 Like it takes some serious nerve to get up here at this height,
2:27 your first time ever propelling down a cliff.
2:36 You got this?
2:42 Yeah.
2:42 Nice- Fun.
3:04 You guys gonna go straight down?
3:05 Alright, get so Mike, job, bud.
3:09 There he goes.
3:10 See you.
3:11 How's going?
3:12 Alright.
3:17 That's gotta do it.
3:18 For the first test of becoming Brave weekend,
3:21 and now we are headed to the ultimate slot canyon adventure.
3:25 The narrows, usually the weather and Zion is hot and sunny,
3:29 but an afternoon rainstorm came in causing flash flood conditions in the canyon.
3:33 So we geared up and with our guides keeping an eye on the safety conditions,
3:37 we ventured into the canyon and towards a super rare occurrence.
3:41 Hey, look at this.
3:43 Take some monsoon in a slot canyon, not called brave wildness.
3:47 Nothing.
3:48 It takes more than a little rain to scare off the becoming brave crew.
3:51 Cannon Ball.
3:52 Woo.
3:53 The rain did let us see something super cool.
3:56 A flash flood waterfall.
3:58 This only happens a few times a year, so we were very lucky to witness it.
4:04 Hey, have you ever wanted to be in a real brave wilderness video with us?
4:07 What if you could step through the screen
4:09 right now on this side of the adventure?
4:11 Well, here's your chance.
4:12 In February of 2027,
4:14 we're headed to one of the most biodiverse places on the planet,
4:17 the legendary OSA Peninsula in Costa Rica, and you are invited for nine
4:23 unforgettable days where we'll explore ancient rainforest,
4:26 hidden jungle trails and the crystal clear waters of the Pacific Ocean.
4:31 Just imagine you'll get to track wildlife with me
4:34 and the crew as we search for three toed sloths,
4:36 scarlet McCalls, and perhaps even an elusive poison frog.
4:40 And then we'll even leave land behind to snorkel
4:43 the vibrant reefs where sea turtles will glide right past you.
4:46 And all along the way,
4:48 I'll teach you the secrets of reading the wild like a true naturalist.
4:52 I'll show you how to spot for hidden creatures,
4:54 understand the ecosystem and how everything is connected,
4:57 and we'll also get to witness conservation happening in real time.
5:01 Oh, and just in case you're wondering, we are not roughing it on this trip,
5:05 we'll stay in incredible five star ecolog is deep,
5:08 deepen the rainforest and get to relax in jungle
5:11 retreats that most people will never get to experience.
5:14 This is not just a trip.
5:15 This is your chance to become part of Brave Wilderness,
5:18 up close, immersive, and co-starring right next to me and the crew.
5:23 We only have 20 spots available on our Costa
5:25 Rican adventure for becoming Brave part two.
5:28 So click the link in the description and to the bravest of you watching,
5:32 I will see you in the jungle.
5:37 We ventured as far as the guides thought was
5:39 safe and made it to the entrance of the narrows.
5:43 But what brave wilderness expedition would
5:45 be complete without looking for some creatures.
5:47 But the rainstorm wasn't done yet before our creature hunt.
5:50 This storm gave me the shock of a lifetime while filming it with my phone.
5:54 The unthinkable happened.
5:59 This was by far the closest I've ever come to being struck by lightning.
6:04 After the storm passed and it was safe,
6:05 we headed down to the wash to search for creepy crawlies.
6:08 And boy do we find a good one.
6:09 Everybody's super excited and it's time to find some creatures.
6:12 Let's get into it.
6:14 Woo.
6:14 After finding a few Beatles,
6:16 we found what we had been looking for all along a black widow that happened.
6:39 Now, as long as you all agree and promise to not try to remove the lid,
6:44 I'm happy to pass this around so you get a closer look.
6:47 Is that right?
6:47 Yeah.
6:48 It was amazing to see the next generation of wildlife
6:50 explorers get up close with such an iconic species,
6:53 but by the end of this video,
6:55 they'll get even closer to another arachni that calls this desert home.
6:58 That's what day one brought us, but we have even more in store.
7:01 On day two of the Becoming Brave Weekend.
7:03 Early the next morning, we had a small crew who really wanted to push
7:05 things to the next level by hiking to Angels Landing.
7:08 This hike is not for the faint of heart with a path
7:10 just a few feet across with 1000 foot drops on either side,
7:14 we've got five of us that are gonna try to make
7:17 it to this summit because as you're about to see,
7:19 it certainly takes some bravery to make it to the end of this hike.
7:23 This is gonna be awesome.
7:24 This chain is the only thing we have to keep us from falling hundreds of feet.
7:31 How are we doing Maxim?
7:32 Thumbs up, bud.
7:33 Woo.
7:33 You're doing it.
7:38 There still got a waste to go and the gnarliest is still to come.
7:47 All right.
7:47 A little midway checkpoint.
7:48 We got about a thousand feet drop on both
7:52 sides and just this host and chain link lined, which hold us to it.
8:10 All right, we're getting close.
8:16 It's wild, and not everything is a first time experience.
8:21 That's why we have a smaller group doing this Advanced Climb Angels Landing.
8:24 But for all the people who didn't make it,
8:28 this should be some inspiration because you can
8:30 do this, and if you set your mind to something and you want to achieve
8:34 hikes like this, it's absolutely possible for anyone,
8:37 no matter your fear, heights or physical skills.
8:43 All right, we made it guys.
8:44 There it is.
8:45 Look at that.
8:46 Wow.
8:46 Great job, guys.
8:48 Oh yeah.
8:49 Awesome work.
8:50 Look at that view.
8:50 Is it worth it?
8:52 Amazing.
8:52 Yeah, absolutely.
8:53 After Summiting Angels Landing, we met up with the rest of the Brave
8:57 Crew for our final adventure of the weekend.
8:59 We're here for the finale of the Becoming Brave Weekend with the entire crew,
9:05 and we are currently at a really special place in southern Utah.
9:09 We're here because this is one of the few places in the United States.
9:12 You can actually find real dinosaur tracks.
9:16 So we're hiking up this hill.
9:18 We're gonna keep our eyes open and hopefully find some therapod footprints.
9:26 This is awesome.
9:27 Of course, guys, check this out.
9:32 This is it.
9:33 Millions of years ago, a dinosaur stood right here,
9:37 and while this was our final scheduled adventure of the day,
9:40 the brave crew is in for quite the surprise on the ride back to camp.
9:46 Look guys, it's a baby T tarantula.
9:49 This is by far the smallest tarantula I've ever seen.
9:52 This is so cool, guys.
9:53 Is he gonna bite you?
9:54 I hope not.
9:55 If we all stay calm, the spider will stay calm.
9:57 Yeah, and if your parents give you permission, you can hold the tarantula.
10:06 How cool is that?
10:07 That's really cool.
10:07 I couldn't have asked for a better end to the becoming brave weekend.
10:11 We're a wildlife channel at our core,
10:13 so getting to see the next generation of wildlife explorers get to handle
10:17 a tarantula for the first time was the ultimate brave wilderness test.
10:21 It's safe to say that everyone on this trip certainly became brave.
10:26 I'm Mark VINs.
10:28 Be brave.
10:29 Say, while be on the next adventure.
10:31 And for those of you who want to join
10:32 us for becoming Brave part two, don't wait.
10:35 Click that link in the description.
10:37 Costa Rica OA Peninsula, February, 2027.
10:41 Only 20 spots available.
10:42 We'll see you out there, guys.
