I can't believe this happened
Mr. Beat
0:09 Come over here.
0:13 I'm here in Greenville, North Carolina.
0:15 If you don't know anything about Greenville, North Carolina, that's Mr.
0:18 Beast's hometown.
0:18 He flew me and my family out here.
0:21 We're going to meet him tomorrow.
0:23 Yeah, this is Greenville.
0:24 Look at this.
0:26 Look at this.
0:27 It's beautiful.
0:27 just I didn't know they had parking lots here.
0:31 I don't know what's Anyway, yes, we're going to meet Mr.
0:35 Beast tomorrow.
0:36 We're excited.
0:36 Okay, so little backstory.
0:38 Mr.
0:39 Beast aka Jimmy Donaldson just sends me a DM on Twitter.
0:42 Honestly, I didn't think it was really him,
0:44 but after a back and forth and then after
0:47 literally talking to him on the phone, it was Jimmy.
0:49 So, here we are a couple months later
0:52 and we're going to collaborate tomorrow on a video.
0:54 And like I said, my whole family's here.
0:56 here.
0:57 They're filming.
0:58 My daughter's filming right now.
1:00 This is a little bit of a behind the scenes.
1:05 Oh, you're still filming.
1:13 Good morning.
1:14 How can I help you?
1:15 Please wave while we transfer.
1:16 Yes, I have a scheduled uh tour at 11:00 a.m.
1:22 Uh name is Matt Beat.
1:24 Okay.
1:26 for you.
1:30 Okay, we are here at Mr.
1:31 Beast Studios.
1:32 Pretty cool that he has this giant complex.
1:34 And I need to constantly keep reminding all of us this.
1:38 He's the world's biggest YouTuber.
1:40 No one has ever been more successful on the platform than him.
1:44 No one ever probably will surpass him either.
1:47 We're going to go in and they said we could film anything we wanted
1:50 except for sets that were for upcoming videos which they'll let us know about.
1:58 Let's go.
1:59 Come on.
2:01 These are all the world records from Beast Game season one.
2:05 Okay.
2:05 Yeah.
2:05 So, they're really funny.
2:07 If you look at a couple, they're really there's some that you're like,
2:10 "What in the world?" And there's some funny.
2:13 So this is the 100 million and then
2:17 we were obviously the first to hit 200 million.
2:20 So everybody at YouTube's like, "Wait, this don't exist." Yeah.
2:22 So they made us this one.
2:24 And then they were like,
2:25 "I guess we should like start making more." So this is the 200 300 here.
2:29 And then we hit 400, which is the one we just got,
2:33 but obviously we're very close to 500.
2:36 One out of every 16 humans on the planet are subscribed to Mr.
2:42 Beast.
2:53 Heat.
2:57 Heat.
3:22 Oh my gosh, you guys.
3:25 We made it.
3:26 Yeah.
3:27 It's a little bit bigger than my studio.
3:31 Are these doors going to open?
3:36 is like Oh my gosh, I feel like I'm at an Air Force base.
3:46 We did ages 1 to 100.
3:47 We had the soccer bit here.
3:49 We had the hold your weight in the middle
3:51 and then we had dodgeball on the far side.
3:56 It lets us do more.
3:59 Yeah.
4:04 Stop.
4:07 Stop.
4:09 Oh, sorry.
4:15 You're filming the wrong way.
4:23 All right.
4:24 Peace.
4:24 Peaceful is enough on Instacart.
4:25 And to celebrate, we're going to order it from two different drivers.
4:29 Whoever shows up first, we're going to tip a bunch of money.
4:31 Mine's getting here first.
4:32 Let the games begin.
4:34 All right.
4:35 You want to get over the shoulder?
4:38 Well, don't order it now.
4:40 Check out this.
4:47 All right.
4:48 Ready?
4:49 Three.
4:50 Wait, they didn't ask.
4:52 All right.
4:53 Ready?
4:54 Three, two, one.
4:56 Okay, they're on the way.
4:59 Let's see who comes first.
5:01 The bottom line has already been used by I'm going about I hire a film crew.
5:08 He just spawns film the glasses.
5:10 Do you guys have the glasses to see?
5:11 We do.
5:12 Okay.
5:12 So, we brought glasses for you.
5:13 They're like the blue light protector fake
5:15 glasses just like these in early 2004.
5:18 And then you say on camera when I was 6 years old.
5:22 Yeah.
5:23 And then you go back to the a name named Jared Kareem.
5:27 Jawed Kareem.
5:28 That's the hard Jed Kareem.
5:29 Uh couldn't find two videos online.
5:31 Janet Jackson Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction and footage of a recent tsunami.
5:36 Honestly, my mom didn't let me watch it either.
5:39 What?
5:39 What are you doing?
5:41 I'm making a history video about YouTube.
5:43 This is my channel.
5:44 I'm Mr.
5:45 Beat.
5:45 You're Mr.
5:46 Beast.
5:46 Remember the the only thing that separates us is a measly s.
5:51 But all three of them had just made good money
5:53 at PayPal and they kept landing on the same idea.
5:56 Video sharing shouldn't be this hard.
5:58 Fast forward to Valentine's Day 2004 in Hurley's garage.
6:02 That lesson was perfect.
6:03 Cool.
6:04 When I was a six-year-old.
6:06 When I was 6 years old.
6:08 You talk probably a little slower than me, so maybe I should talk slower.
6:12 When I was 6 years old.
6:13 That would be funny.
6:14 Okay.
6:14 Go ahead and start with making a history video about YouTube.
6:17 I'm I'm making a history video about YouTube.
6:20 Uh, but but this is my channel.
6:23 I'm Mr.
6:24 Beat.
6:24 You're Mr.
6:25 Beast, remember?
6:25 Yeah, but the difference is only an S.
6:28 Like, are we going to act like that's a big deal?
6:31 We are, if I can't remember what I'm going to say after.
6:35 Funny enough, Karine's original pitch was actually to make it a dating site,
6:39 kind of hot or not style, but clearly that didn't pan out.
6:44 Okay, so now I'll have you stand a little bit over there.
6:49 Make sure you're still in the frame.
6:52 Oh, you're helping.
6:53 All right, I can't wait to read the comments.
6:56 Please stop that.
6:57 Am I like kind of agitated?
6:58 I don't remember.
6:59 Like uploaded to YouTube.
7:00 Oh, now it has Oh, I'm I'm going to say this part.
7:05 So, it's about the um Yeah, you're refreshing the views on the first video.
7:10 Yeah.
7:10 And I'm just like, please stop that.
7:13 Yeah, please stop that.
7:14 To this day, I still make most of my money from YouTube ad revenue.
7:21 What about you?
7:23 Mhm.
7:23 I know that to this day,
7:26 I still make most of my revenue from YouTube ad revenue.
7:33 What about you?
7:35 I don't.
7:36 Sponsorships, you know, I sell some products.
7:41 Yeah, I figured.
7:43 Yeah.
7:43 Uh, well, I I get that many views a minute, brag about it.
7:52 I just keep walking off.
7:54 So, how old were you in 2006?
7:57 I just turned 8 years old.
7:59 Is that eight fingers?
8:01 I thought you did seven figures.
8:03 Oh, no.
8:04 Not that dumb.
8:05 Okay.
8:05 I I'll just like turn to you and then like as like what do you think?
8:11 I can't believe this all started with a Okay, gotcha.
8:14 I can't believe all this started with a wardrobe malfunction.
8:19 History is weird, man.
8:22 You can say that again.
8:25 All right.
8:26 Yeah.
8:26 Easy peasy.
8:27 Thank you so much.
8:28 That That's really it.
8:29 That was too easy.
8:30 The ultimate American presidential election book.
8:33 Educate John each president.
8:36 Every election presidential election.
8:45 I'm back in Kansas now and I just
8:47 had some final thoughts about Jimmy Donaldson aka Mr.
8:50 Beast.
8:50 First of all, it was really nice of him
8:52 and his team to let us collaborate with him.
8:55 They didn't have to do that.
8:56 We are a very small channel compared to his his channel.
9:00 Now, that said, when I first posted on the socials about meeting up with Mr.
9:04 Beast and collaborating with him, there were some mixed reactions.
9:07 About half the comments were excited.
9:10 They were encouraging.
9:11 They're like, "Oh, that's really cool.
9:12 You got to meet Mr.
9:13 Beast and you're collaborating with him." But the other half were like,
9:16 "Why are you hanging out with that evil monster?" And so,
9:19 I figured I'd address that here in this video.
9:22 I don't think that Mr.
9:23 Beast is an evil monster.
9:24 Now, I'm saying that as a biased person.
9:27 He was very kind to me.
9:28 He was down to earth and really good with my family and generous with his time,
9:34 generous with hosting uh us in Greenville, North Carolina.
9:39 Had his folks give us a tour of his complex.
9:42 We saw filming sites of upcoming videos.
9:44 I mean, I'm biased to think that he's great because he treated us really well.
9:50 Okay.
9:51 Indeed, Mr.
9:52 Beast has not been able to avoid controversy in recent years.
9:58 Yeah.
9:59 Yeah.
10:00 Oh, that one too.
10:02 Okay.
10:03 Yeah.
10:04 I have to acknowledge that he has made mistakes.
10:07 He would probably admit that as well.
10:08 And I'm not going to defend every mistake that Mr.
10:11 Beast made, but I think one reason why
10:13 he's made mistakes is because he's so dang ambitious.
10:16 You know, he shoots for the sky.
10:18 He spends all his money to make as much money as possible.
10:22 But I think the reason why he wants to make
10:25 as much money as possible is probably just as important.
10:28 He wants to help as many people as possible.
10:30 I think he really does.
10:32 And I got to think that both can be true.
10:35 He can make mistakes, but also mean well and be a nice person.
10:39 So, I'll just leave it at that.
10:41 Let me know in the comments though how you really feel.
