3:21 And then she says 'Pleased to meet you'.

3:25 Let's look at this again.

3:34 because Anne doesn't know who she is.

3:38 We just say "I'm"...

3:40 which is short for 'I am'.

3:43 And then her name.

3:46 In English we say a family name last.

3:50 Sarah's family name is Teylor.

3:53 So she says 'I'm Sarah Teylor'.

3:57 This is formal English.

4:00 You can just say your first name.

4:03 So Sarah could say 'I'm Sarah'.

6:29 English is made up of sentences.

6:35 Firstly let's listen to Sarah.

6:42 "I'm" is a way of saying "I am".

6:47 The word 'I' is called the subject of the sentence.

6:51 It comes first.

6:54 'Am' is called a verb.

6:56 It comes next.

6:59 And her name Sarah Teylor is called the object.

7:04 It comes after the verb.

7:07 Many sentences have this pattern.

7:10 Let's look at another one.

7:12 I'm sorry.

7:12 This is my husband, Mark.

7:14 Can you work out what is the subject,...

7:20 and the object of the sentence?

7:25 The word 'this' is the subject.

7:29 'Is' is the verb.

7:31 And 'my husband' is the object.

10:30 Sarah uses the word 'this' when she introduces Mark.

10:34 She said 'This is my husband'.

10:38 But when Anne points out her bag...

10:40 she uses the word 'that'.

10:42 She says 'That's mine'.

10:45 What's the difference?

10:47 Look again and see if you can tell.

12:47 And finally let's look at some different way of saying 'hello'.

13:01 Because it was in the morning.

13:03 Before twelve o'clock.

13:05 What would he say after twelve o'clock?

13:08 He could say 'Good afternoon'.

13:11 Try saying it after me.

13:14 Good afternoon.

13:18 And if it was in the evening he could say 'Good evening'.

13:22 Try saying it after me.

13:25 Good evening.

13:28 But he probably wouldn't say 'Good night'.

13:31 We usually[...] say 'Good night' when we're leaving or going to bed.
