DC Runs on Hypocrisy and Booze

DC Runs on Hypocrisy and Booze

Brett Cooper

0:00 Kash Patel, please stay off of my timeline like I am begging you.

0:04 Please stay out of the news unless you are making arrests.

0:08 And I say that with love,

0:10 I say that with love because I want this administration to succeed and your pr,

0:15 your image is directly connected with that success in my opinion.

0:19 Like I'm honestly starting to miss the good old days when we

0:21 didn't know what shoes the FBI director was wearing to A UFC fight.

0:25 But we didn't know who he was dating when they weren't doing podcasts together,

0:28 when we didn't know the ins and outs

0:31 of his personal life when he was off the clock.

0:33 And I'm saying all of this because in case you missed it,

0:35 a scathing expose came out about Kash Patel and it does not look good.

0:40 So this is from the Atlantic.

0:41 The headline reads the FBI director is MIA.

0:44 Apparently he's not MIA for my timeline, but maybe he is from his job.

0:48 Anyway, they go on and the subtitle reads,

0:50 K Patel has alarmed colleagues with episodes

0:53 of Excessive Drinking and Unexplained Absences.

0:56 Now this headline, like I said,

0:57 is obviously incredibly ironic considering he is all

0:59 over my ex feeded all the freaking time,

1:02 but it is usually not for a good reason.

1:04 Now these accusations of drunken MIA behaviour blowing up at staffers,

1:09 not being able to be reached for meetings,

1:11 not being able to use his own computer, all of this comes on the heels

1:15 of his viral Olympics video with the men's hockey team.

1:17 And so obviously that is not helping either.

1:21 But guys, contrary to my previous episodes where

1:23 I have gleefully spent time ripping into this man, this story, this episode,

1:27 it is not even about Kash Patel, his love of beer with the men's hockey

1:32 team or even his country music Sensation girlfriend.

1:35 It is about how both the left and the right clutch their pearls

1:38 over the very things that they defend happening in their own party.

1:42 It is all a big game of division that we are not part of.

1:45 Now before we dive into the story,

1:46 I wanna thank you guys so much for being here.

1:48 Thank you for liking the episode.

1:49 Thank you for subscribing to the channel.

1:50 If you wanna stay up to date on everything we're doing,

1:52 make sure to ring that notification bell and check out brett cooper.com.

1:55 That is where you can find Cooper Confidential,

1:57 which is all my behind the scenes content.

1:58 It is where you can find links to tickets for my upcoming shows.

2:01 All of that good stuff is over brett cooper.com.

2:03 Alright, so allegedly, according to this article,

2:06 Kash Patel is in full panic mode over his fears of being fired from the FBI,

2:10 which obviously makes sense after Trump recently asked Kristi Noam

2:13 and Pam Bondy and the Atlantic reported that multiple anonymous,

2:17 but multiple White House officials have said

2:18 that they're actively looking for Kash Patel's replacement

2:21 and that everyone is just sitting around waiting

2:24 for the call that he has officially been fired.

2:26 However, when asked by the Atlantic top members

2:29 of the admin like Caroline Levitt still had his back.

2:31 So in the article she said Crime across the country has

2:34 plummeted to the lowest level In more than a hundred years,

2:36 many high profile criminals have been put behind bars.

2:38 Director Patel remains a critical player

2:40 on the administration's law and Order team.

2:42 And then the acting attorney general Todd Blanche told the min statement,

2:45 Patel has accomplished more in 14 months in the previous administration

2:48 did in four years anonymously Source hit pieces do not constitute journalism,

2:52 but that really doesn't paint the entire picture of the situation

2:56 or this article obviously considering the over two dozen people

2:59 who were interviewed by the Atlantic and they all apparently

3:03 made it clear that he was not fit for the job.

3:05 Like this is the most damning part of the piece they wrote.

3:07 Several officials told me that Patel's drinking has

3:09 been a recurring source of concern across the government.

3:12 They said he is known to drink

3:13 to the point of obvious intoxication in many cases

3:16 that the private club NEDs of Washington DC while

3:18 in the presence of White House and other administration staff,

3:20 he is also known to drink to excess at the poodle

3:23 room in Las Vegas where he frequently spends parts of his weekends.

3:27 He's jet setting off to Vegas.

3:29 I god knows why- We're not the guys running around on private jets.

3:32 He's heading back home early in his tenure meetings

3:34 and briefings had to be rescheduled for later in the day

3:37 as a result of his alcohol fueled nights six current

3:40 and former officials and others familiar with Patel's schedule told me this.

3:43 On multiple occasions in the past year, members of his security detail had

3:46 difficulty walking Patel because he was seemingly

3:48 intoxicated according to information supplied

3:49 to the Justice Department and White House officials,

3:51 a request for breaching equipment normally used for SWAT

3:54 and hostage rescue teams to quickly gain entry into buildings

3:57 was made last year because Patel had been unreachable behind

4:00 locked doors according to multiple people familiar with the request.

4:04 Like that stuff is crazy.

4:05 Like the picture that this paints is of a drunken unstable man,

4:09 he's out partying, he's not equipped to do his job,

4:12 he's gone missing like this is the person who is supposed

4:14 to be keeping the law and order of this country in order.

4:16 That was like the worst way for me to ever say that.

4:19 And I mean we have talked about this a lot in regards to Trump 2.0,

4:21 the current Trump administration as a whole.

4:23 But Kash has really struggled with his pr,

4:26 his comps and his messaging like the hypocrisy.

4:28 But flying around on private jets when previously before coming into office,

4:32 he said that you know, he would never do that.

4:34 That those private jets needed to be gotten rid of flying all

4:36 over the country to see the country music sensation who is now

4:39 apparently getting taxpayer funded FBI security guards yelling at people behind

4:43 the scenes because he didn't have the right FBI bomber jacket to wear,

4:46 getting custom bright yellow Nike dunks decorated

4:50 with FBI taglines and logos, his own nickname,

4:54 Kash Kash Money with the dollar sign that which

4:56 he then wears to UFC tournaments that he got

4:59 to by flying around on his private jet that he

5:01 previously said he would never use because it was so ridiculous.

5:04 Now all the while normal American people are

5:06 seeing all of this and they're going, okay,

5:08 well see actually even working like we're hearing about lower crimes,

5:11 but he's here with, you know, Dana White, there's no Epstein arrest like Nancy

5:14 Guthrie is still missing and you have Kash

5:17 money dunks like are you the FBI director or are you just here to have fun?

5:21 And like I, I'm not trying to just exclusively shade Kash Patel here,

5:24 it is not just a Kash problem.

5:26 Like to be fair, it feels like everyone in modern

5:27 politics really just wants to be a celebrity right now.

5:30 They all just wanna be podcasters like guys

5:31 like quit your jobs then buy a microphone.

5:34 It might be better anyway, but back to the article at hand,

5:36 within 24 hours of this article dropping Kash had

5:40 already filed a $250 million defamation suit against the Atlantic

5:46 and apparently he told them that he was ready

5:47 to file the suit before they even published the article.

5:50 They gave him only like a two hour window

5:52 to provide any comments and quotes for the article.

5:55 And when he saw what they were publishing, he, I'm ready to sue you.

5:58 So he did good on that promise and he has

6:00 officially sued them and that obviously is a pretty big lawsuit.

6:03 He has learned from the best he

6:04 learned from Trump suing all these media outlets.

6:06 But the Atlantic is apparently not backing down.

6:09 So they responded with this statement from the Atlantic.

6:11 We stand by our reporting on Kash Patel and we will

6:14 vigorously defend the Atlantic

6:15 and our journalists against this meritless lawsuit.

6:17 Now here's the thing, as critical as I am of Kash,

6:20 even though I enjoy making fun of him based on this journalist's track record,

6:25 this woman, I completely understand why he filed this suit.

6:27 Like I completely get it because this woman is behind some of the most

6:32 famous slandering pieces of journalism in modern

6:34 politics and her name is Sarah Fitzgerald.

6:37 So Sarah Fitzgerald is the one who wrote the hit piece on Pete Hegseth

6:39 when he was getting confirmed accusing him

6:41 of being a drunk while working at Fox.

6:43 She also had, and this is probably

6:44 the most damning evidence against her, but she had

6:47 the top byline in NBC's reporting about Brett

6:49 Kavanaugh allegedly having a gang rape ring in college,

6:52 which obviously turned out to be a sham.

6:54 The entire story fell apart once it was investigated.

6:56 And while this last piece wasn't her directly,

6:59 her editor at the Atlantic that she's directly

7:01 working under Jeffrey Goldberg is the one behind Trump's

7:04 infamous suckers and losers story where anonymous sources said

7:07 that that is what he had called fallen soldiers.

7:10 Now Trump obviously has long called that story a hoax.

7:13 He said, I never said it,

7:14 but witnesses have come out both supporting the journalist and supporting Trump.

7:18 Who knows what really happened.

7:19 Again, it just, you know, it was back and forth all the time.

7:21 But this writer and her editor, the reason why I'm bringing all of this up

7:24 is because they are rife with controversy.

7:26 That is what I'm trying to say.

7:27 It is not like they have the most perfect track record of all time.

7:30 And the Atlantic, again, to be fair,

7:32 is no friend to Republicans or to this administration.

7:35 So I understand why Kash was immediately on the defence and I

7:38 understand why so many Republicans are not quick to believe this journalist.

7:41 But either way, as you saw in their statement,

7:43 the Atlantic is obviously standing 10 toes down on this article.

7:46 And even if their sources turn out to be lying,

7:49 it's not like Kash Patel has some squeaky clean record to begin with.

7:53 And at this point, like I honestly when I look at the story,

7:55 I am just tired of the hypocrisy that comes

7:57 with all of the outrage and I'm tired of it from both sides because when it

8:01 comes to stories and accusations like this, you know,

8:03 whether it's in the Atlantic or the New York Times or NBC news,

8:05 whenever it is somebody on someone's own side,

8:08 on their own team, people are silent.

8:10 They say it's not happening, they deflect, they brush it off,

8:12 they shift the blame like it is a normal strategy.

8:15 We all know it, we all have probably partaken in it at some point or other,

8:18 like for example with this most recent Kash Patel story,

8:21 it's apparently cool said one Republican congressman,

8:24 as long as it doesn't affect his job in a negative way, I'm cool.

8:26 The Georgia Republican added.

8:28 So even if this is true, this congressman is saying it's not impacting his job.

8:31 So whatever he's cool, it's chill.

8:33 And this is very similar to how the right

8:35 at large reacted when the same woman again,

8:37 same woman accused Pete EF of being a drunk based

8:40 on more anonymous tips from Fox News employees while he was,

8:42 you know, having his tenure there.

8:44 And again, republicans generally supported him

8:46 like Senator Mark Wayne Mullen even

8:47 went so far as to say this in one of Pete, he's hearings.

8:51 How many senators have showed up drunk to vote at night?

8:57 Have any of you guys asked them to step down and resign for their job?

9:01 And don't tell me you haven't seen it because I know you have.

9:04 And then how many senators do you know

9:06 have got a divorce before cheating on their wives?

9:09 Did you ask them to step down?

9:12 No, but it's for show you guys make sure

9:15 you make a big show and point out the hypocrisy

9:19 because a man's made a mistake and you want

9:23 to sit there and say that he's not qualified.

9:25 Gimme a joke.

9:26 All right, now I'm just gonna pause there.

9:27 I have so much to say about this clip and it just drives me up a wall

9:30 for more than one reason and maybe not

9:32 the reason that you expect because right after he said,

9:34 you know, how many senators do you know who have shown up drunk to vote?

9:37 Like did you hear everyone in the peanut

9:39 gallery just laughing when he said that?

9:41 I mean it's just like, it's all a big joke to them.

9:43 They're just like, oh, that's so true, that's so fun.

9:46 Like they're out there partying in DC

9:48 Madison Hawthorn says there's like orgies happening,

9:50 they're getting it on in congressional closets according to, you know,

9:54 George Santos, they're having their sexual misconduct

9:55 investigations hidden from the public and then

9:57 they're just sitting here laughing about

9:59 drunken behaviour and like Mark Wayne Mullen,

10:01 he was defending hegseth against these, you know,

10:03 slanderous anonymous allegations and I understand why and he made a great point,

10:08 but he really just exposed the entire

10:10 system for being even more depraved and perverse.

10:12 And if we're being honest here,

10:14 he wasn't really defending Pete's character or saying

10:16 that everything was a lie and slanderous as much as he was saying it doesn't

10:20 matter because all of you guys are freaks too

10:22 because all of you have made mistakes

10:23 as well because all of you also have drinking

10:26 problems and show up drunk to work like so what he drinks all of you guys too.

10:30 So what he cheated on his wives, you guys too.

10:32 I mean like what a remarkable argument.

10:34 Like it is so terrible.

10:35 It is almost as dumb as the argument

10:37 that any part of the pro-choice movement makes.

10:39 And that is why I urge you to support the great work that Preborn is doing.

10:42 And thanks to you guys last year,

10:43 preborn was able to help rescue over 80,000 babies and today

10:47 you can help them save even more because everything changes The moment

10:50 that a mother in crisis walks into a pre-born network clinic and sees

10:53 her baby on one of their free ultrasounds for the first time,

10:55 that one moment of connection with her child

10:57 doubles her chance of choosing life.

10:59 But what I love about pre-born is that they don't just

11:00 stop with those ultrasounds because from pregnancy two years after birth,

11:03 they give the kind of financial,

11:05 medical and spiritual support that makes motherhood possible.

11:07 They are truly pro baby and promo,

11:09 not just pro-birth, which is so important to me.

11:12 And if you wanna get involved for just $28,

11:14 you can provide one lifesaving ultrasound hundred $40 provides five ultrasounds,

11:17 which is five chances for life.

11:19 And so this year let's make it the biggest baby saving year in history.

11:22 Take a stand, be bold and speak.

11:23 For those who cannot speak for themselves, call Pound two 50.

11:26 You can say the keyword baby again, pound two 50, keyword baby.

11:29 Or if it's easier, visit preborn.com/brett.

11:32 Again, that is preborn.com/brett to get started today.

11:35 You can save a baby and you can

11:37 help your fur babies by giving them rough greens.

11:39 So my friends over at Rough Greens make supplements designed

11:41 to help fill in the nutritional gaps that most dogs have.

11:44 And while in my household we have obviously

11:46 been fans of their Vita Smart Greens powder, if you know, you know,

11:48 our dogs have been devouring their new rough chew,

11:51 they're essentially like Jule vitamins, but for dogs they're super easy to give

11:55 and they're packed with things like probiotics,

11:56 omega oils, digestive enzymes and nutrients from fruits

11:59 and vegetables to help support your dog's overall health.

12:01 Plus, if you wanna take their nutrition to the next level,

12:03 rough Greens has their Vita Smart powdered supplement greens powder

12:06 that you could sprinkle right on top of your dog's food.

12:08 It is another really simple way to boost their nutrition.

12:10 So if you wanna try Rough Greens for your dog, go to rough greens.com,

12:13 use promo code Brett and they will send you a free Vita

12:16 Smart starter pack so that you can see the difference for yourself.

12:19 Again, that is rough greens.com promo code Brett so grateful

12:22 that they're back on the show and supporting what we're doing here.

12:24 Again, rough greens.com promo code Brett.

12:26 Alright, so back to the point, yes, even though I have a problem with what he's

12:30 saying and I don't like the implications of it,

12:32 Mark Wayne Mullen was right because the left was,

12:34 you know, clutching their pearls and being

12:36 hypocritical about the whole he set situation,

12:38 but that doesn't really make the story at hand

12:40 any better because the right does the exact same thing.

12:43 I mean think back to the election cycle

12:44 in 2024 when Republicans and I honestly did this too,

12:47 but when they spent countless entire campaign talking about

12:50 how she was drunk and honestly she probably was,

12:52 but I mean they kept going back to that and mocking

12:55 her for that and saying she was unfit

12:56 for office and Republicans were so much better.

12:58 We had more class, we had more standards.

13:00 Like they even mocked her for having

13:02 a glass of wine after she lost the election.

13:04 Like, I'm sorry, I'm not gonna pile onto her for that.

13:06 If I also had been embarrassed on a global stage

13:08 and had the worst campaign in the history of the country,

13:11 I too would be having a glass of boxed wine from Trader Joe's with my family.

13:15 That is how I would soothe myself.

13:17 But even today, literally as I sat down for this episode,

13:19 Kamala is going viral for saying something else retarded,

13:22 as she always does and people are claiming that she is a drunk yet again.

13:25 As you can see here,

13:26 this is one example and wokeness Kamala Harris is drunk on stage again.

13:29 And of course throughout the entire time that was happening,

13:32 the left shot that all down they deflected,

13:34 they said, no, she never drank, she's not a drunk.

13:36 Even though obviously it was clear that something was going on.

13:38 And like fast forward to right now, the left is also very quiet about

13:42 the alcohol accusations against disgrace Congressman Eric Swalwell,

13:45 which in case you missed it, yes there is more to his story.

13:48 It just keeps getting worse.

13:49 Like this is the most recent headline,

13:51 staggering number of booze deliveries Eric Swalwell

13:53 charged to campaign including a Vegas bender.

13:56 Like was he there with Kash Patel, were they at the Poodle Lounge together?

13:59 Like I, like I just thousands and thousands

14:02 and thousands of dollars spent on booze.

14:04 And I'm sure that all of this is just scratching the surface,

14:06 not just for him but for other people in Congress.

14:08 And guess what?

14:09 All of this, it's not new.

14:10 Like think back to 1969 when Ted Kennedy was

14:13 in Congress and he allegedly had been drinking at a party,

14:16 got into a car with one of his congressional aide, took a wrong turn,

14:19 drove the car off of the bridge into the water,

14:21 and his congressional aide died and he didn't report the incident

14:24 to the police until 10 hours later when the woman's body was found.

14:29 That should be obviously incriminating,

14:31 he should not be working in government anymore.

14:33 And yet he served no jail time.

14:35 He continued to serve in the Senate for another four decades.

14:37 I think they even gave him the title of like lion in the Senate.

14:40 Like the media largely ignored his past

14:43 all while he was struggling with alcoholism

14:45 in his personal life to the point where

14:47 his kids in the nineties were staging interventions.

14:49 He was showing up to work in Congress, obviously drunk and flushed.

14:52 Like the point is, the reason why I'm bringing

14:54 that up is because none of this is new in politics.

14:57 It has always been messy.

14:58 And in large part, your own party protects you like TLDR,

15:02 everybody there drinks, everybody gets blackmailed,

15:04 they protect their own side until it's convenient for them not to.

15:07 They use blackmail against one another and then each side

15:10 freaks out and deflects when the accusations point at them,

15:13 even if they are protecting people on their own

15:15 side for doing the exact same thing.

15:17 Like my view as I watch all of this is like maybe you're all just terrible.

15:20 We're all unfit, you are all got awful people and you have no right

15:24 to claim any kind of moral superiority over

15:26 the other side or over us normal Americans.

15:29 And I think a lot of us unfortunately have wasted

15:32 breath going after the other side hoping that ours will,

15:34 you know, hold themselves to a better standard,

15:36 prove to be better, only to be let down.

15:38 It's just unfortunate and it is disappointing.

15:40 So that really is the main point to this story.

15:43 Maybe Cas Patel is a drunk, maybe he's not.

15:45 My view is that the story just based on the author

15:48 and her track record is probably a bit exaggerated.

15:50 But I also wouldn't be surprised based on what we've just

15:53 seen on social media that maybe he has some erratic behaviour.

15:55 Maybe he's more interested in the poodle

15:57 lounge than actually doing FBI work again, just based on what we've seen online.

16:01 So all that being considered,

16:02 especially with all of the shakeups happening in the Trump admin right now,

16:04 all I can say is that hopefully the sweet voice

16:07 of his country music sensation can soothe his fears and worries.

16:10 And then maybe you'll have to spend a little less time at the Poodle Lounge.
