Trump in love with a 35-year-old as presidency crumbles around him?
David Pakman
0:00 Rumors are exploding that Donald Trump may be having
0:03 an affair with his 35 year old assistant, Natalie Harp.
0:08 Now, I know that this may sound like the start of a gossip type story,
0:13 and I assure you that it is not,
0:15 and that this is not a show that does pointless gossip.
0:18 There is a lot of highly, highly relevant high stakes stuff here.
0:23 But let's start at the beginning.
0:25 We do not have evidence at this point in time
0:28 that Donald Trump is dating his 35 year old assistant, Natalie Harp.
0:32 Remember, Natalie Harp is the individual who has a portable printer,
0:37 and she'll print out tweets that Trump might like
0:40 to see and leaves them little notes around the residence.
0:43 And he said something along.
0:45 This is in the Regime Change book by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan.
0:48 She has said stuff about how she'll she won't abandon Trump,
0:53 and Trump has said she's the only one who will stick with me.
0:56 So there's something kind of weird going on there.
0:58 Fine.
0:59 We now are in a situation where there are growing
1:02 rumors that this may be more than simply a work relationship.
1:06 Now, I am not alleging to have knowledge that that is the case,
1:09 but I am reporting to you that these are topics that are being discussed.
1:14 This would probably change nothing for Trump's
1:18 most moralistic supporters who say, oh,
1:20 I'm a Christian and I'm an evangelical, and all this stuff,
1:24 we they didn't care about his previous affairs.
1:26 They didn't care about the fact that he
1:28 was pro-choice for his first 68 years in life,
1:30 or that he never pretended to be religious until he went into politics.
1:33 They don't care about it.
1:35 That gets us to Natalie Harp.
1:37 Natalie Harp as Trump's executive assistant.
1:41 It turns out when Trump was secretly moved from Air Force One in Turkey
1:47 because of that Iranian assassination threat
1:49 that I talked to you about yesterday.
1:51 Harp was among the teeny tiny group of people that was taken with Donald Trump.
1:58 Cabinet officials, including the Secretary of State Marco Rubio,
2:02 stayed on the plane that was believed to be a target of the Iranians.
2:07 So that proves that Natalie Harp has access.
2:10 It doesn't prove that there is romance,
2:12 but she was chosen over Marco Rubio to go
2:15 on the safe plane and to get Trump away from danger.
2:19 But that's when my mind goes back to Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan's book,
2:25 where they detail in regime change a lot
2:28 of information that only fuels the speculation.
2:30 They say, well, you know,
2:31 she leaves these adoring letters to Trump in his personal spaces.
2:35 You are all that matters to me.
2:37 Trump has told staff.
2:39 She's the only person who loves me as much as my wife and kids.
2:43 All of you will go off and make money, but she is never going to leave me.
2:48 Still not evidence of an affair, but this is sort of building into.
2:52 Is something going on here now, what I believe is the most consequential issue.
2:57 It's not whether Trump is having yet another affair he's had.
3:00 Who the hell knows how many at this point in time.
3:03 The more consequential issue is Harp's influence.
3:07 She is known as the human printer.
3:10 As I told you, she gives Trump these flattering stories and tweets.
3:13 She prints them out.
3:13 And Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan have talked about how
3:17 she will sit nearby fulfilling requests for Trump on a whim.
3:21 And by late 2025, according to the book Regime Change,
3:25 she had the most control over Trump's Truth social account,
3:29 a truth social account that is affecting
3:31 foreign policy and that is also moving markets.
3:34 She also is controlling what information even gets
3:37 to Donald Trump and what is published under his name.
3:40 This is so important because Donald Trump leads
3:45 a political coalition that says we represent Christianity,
3:50 we represent marital fidelity and sexual morality and the sanctity of life.
3:57 While evangelical Protestants backed him by 8 to 1 in 2024.
4:03 And yet Trump's life has no resemblance to any of that moral code.
4:11 You know the list, right?
4:12 I mean, married three times, liable for sexual abuse,
4:17 convicted of 34 felony counts involving business records used
4:21 to conceal a hush money payment to a porn star.
4:23 40 something allegations of misconduct of various degrees.
4:30 And Trump denies all of it, of course.
4:34 But we know that at least a bunch of this stuff is completely true.
4:38 He's the religious guy,
4:40 but there is no evidence that religion guides anything that Donald Trump does.
4:44 He has these transactional displays of faith.
4:47 He can't really tell us anything about Bible
4:49 verses he cares about or any of that.
4:51 And yet he sort of presents himself as the protector of Christianity.
4:57 Same thing with abortion.
4:58 Trump has been pro-choice his entire life, decided to run for office.
5:02 And he goes, oh, I, I'm, I'm against abortion.
5:06 And then he chooses Supreme Court justices who
5:08 are ultimately involved in overturning Roe v Wade,
5:11 something which, by the way, arguably was was not particularly popular.
5:17 But that's sort of a different story.
5:19 So when evangelical leaders are confronted with this stuff,
5:21 whether or not he's having an affair with Natalie Harp,
5:25 evangelical leaders will go, listen.
5:27 Trump is an imperfect vessel for our message.
5:30 But isn't everyone imperfect to some degree?
5:33 And they say we still support imperfect people because he's right on policy.
5:39 So the hypocrisy comes from presenting that bargain
5:44 as sort of a crusade for personal morality.
5:47 If credible evidence emerged tomorrow that Trump was dating
5:50 35 year old Natalie Harp Harp while he is married,
5:54 would these leaders abandon him?
5:56 I believe the answer is absolutely not.
6:00 They would first attack the source and then they would go,
6:03 well, even if it's true, that's private.
6:05 And what ultimately matters is policy.
6:08 And Trump is right on policy.
6:09 Now, we don't have evidence right now that Trump is dating Natalie Harp.
6:13 The documented reality is of an unusually
6:17 devoted aide with extraordinary personal and informational access.
6:23 And the hypocrisy is really the story.
6:26 Trump may be dating her.
6:28 He may not.
6:29 The reaction is what exposes the truth,
6:32 which is that for Trump's evangelical supporters,
6:35 personal morality is not a standard applied to their leader.
6:41 It's a weapon applied to everybody else.
6:43 That is a feature of cults.
6:45 We've talked about so many of the different features
6:48 of cults that are visible in Trump's governance and his administration,
6:52 and this includes that the leader is always right,
6:55 that if anybody criticizes the leader,
6:57 they must not understand him and all of these different things.
7:00 If you start to question the leader,
7:02 you're pulled back in by other cult members.
7:04 All of that stuff exists.
7:05 But one of the real features of cults is that the very same
7:11 standards that are applied to the followers are never applied to the leader,
7:16 and that is exactly what is going on here.
