Portuguese With Leo
0:00 Hello and welcome to Portuguese With Leo!
0:06 My name is Leonardo and on this channel I teach Portuguese from Portugal.
0:14 In this video we will do a complete level A2 Portuguese test.
0:22 Please turn on the subtitles, and before we start,
0:28 I'll give you some useful information to understand how the test works.
0:37 This test is divided into 5 parts, oral comprehension, written comprehension,
0:47 grammar, vocabulary and oral expression.
0:53 Before we start, click on the first link
0:57 in the description to download the answer sheet.
1:02 This is a sheet that you can print or open
1:07 on your phone to write down your answers as you take the test.
1:15 This is important because at the end you will be
1:19 able to do your self-assessment and see what result you obtained.
1:26 So, pause the video and download your answer sheet while I wait here.
1:36 Do you already have the answer sheet?
1:38 Good!
1:39 So now, before we start, make sure you are in a quiet place,
1:46 sitting at a desk, and that you have at least 40 minutes to complete the test.
1:55 And don't worry if you need more time, because there is no time limit.
2:01 The objective is to take the test calmly.
2:04 As I told you, the test has 5 parts.
2:08 Now let's do the first part, oral comprehension,
2:13 and throughout the test I will always explain each part before you start.
2:21 The oral comprehension part has 2 exercises.
2:26 In the first exercise you will hear a dialogue between Pedro and Rita twice.
2:36 While listening to the dialogue, 10 statements will appear on the screen and you
2:43 must decide whether they are T, true or F, false.
2:51 Answer on your answer sheet.
2:54 Let's get started!
2:57 Pedro and Rita are two college friends who meet on the street after many years.
5:04 Now you will hear the dialogue once again.
7:08 The first exercise is over.
7:11 Pause the video if you need more time to answer the questions.
7:19 If you've already finished, then let's move on to the second exercise!
7:24 In the second exercise you will hear a voice message twice.
7:32 The message you will hear is the message that Ana sent
7:37 to her WhatsApp group of friends to invite them to her birthday party.
7:46 While listening to the message,
7:48 5 questions will appear on the screen and you must select the right option.
7:56 Let's get started!
8:37 Now you will hear the message once again.
9:20 The second exercise is over.
9:23 Pause the video if you need more time to answer the questions.
9:31 If you've already finished,
9:32 then let's move on to the written comprehension part.
9:40 In the written comprehension part we only have one exercise.
9:45 On the screen you will see a small text about
9:49 one of the most famous markets in Lisbon, Feira da Ladra.
9:54 Pause the video to read the text once
9:58 or twice and then you will answer 10 questions.
10:04 Let's go then!
10:06 Pause the video to read the text.
10:13 Now let's get to the questions.
10:16 Whenever you need to read the text again, go back to minutes 10 and 11.
10:24 And if you want to think between one question and another,
10:29 you can pause the video.
13:52 The exercise is over.
13:55 Go back to minutes 10 and 11 if you need to read the text again.
14:03 If you've already finished, then let's move on to the grammar part.
14:11 Now we move on to the grammar part, where I have two exercises for you.
14:19 In the first exercise I will give you 5 sentences and you
14:23 have to choose whether they are in the past, present or future.
14:31 In other words, if the action has already happened, is happening or will happen.
14:40 Pause the video to do the exercise.
14:47 Now we move on to the second grammar exercise,
14:51 where you will have to select the right answer to complete 10 short sentences.
15:00 If you want to think between one sentence and another,
15:04 you can pause the video and don't forget
15:08 to select the answers on your answer sheet.
15:12 Let's get started!
17:28 The exercise is over.
17:33 We are now in the vocabulary part and here we have 3 exercises.
17:40 In the first exercise I will give you 5 groups
17:45 of 5 words and you will have to find the intruder,
17:50 that is, the word that does not belong to the same lexical group,
17:56 that has no relationship with the other words.
18:01 Pause the video to do the exercise.
18:08 We now move on to the second vocabulary exercise.
18:14 In this exercise you will complete a text that is missing 10 words.
18:22 You will be able to guess the words from the context.
18:28 Pause the video to do the exercise.
18:36 In our third vocabulary exercise you will
18:41 have to identify 5 words from their description.
18:47 For example, what is the name we give to our mother's sister?
18:53 Answer is aunt.
18:57 If you want to think between one question and another,
19:00 you can pause the video and don't forget
19:04 to write your answer on the answer sheet.
19:08 Let's go then!
20:13 Very well, we have reached the last part of the test,
20:17 the oral expression part, the speaking part.
20:22 Obviously I can't evaluate your oral expression
20:26 because I can't hear you through the screen.
20:31 Therefore, we will use a technique called shadowing.
20:37 Shadowing consists of repeating aloud a sentence that we have just heard,
20:45 trying to pronounce it exactly as we heard it.
20:50 So this exercise works like this.
20:54 You will hear a sentence and then have a few
20:58 seconds to repeat it exactly as you heard it.
21:03 For example: I left the keys at home.
21:13 What time does the next bus arrive?
21:17 As you saw, you have to repeat the phrase
21:21 immediately after hearing it and you won't have much time.
21:25 The sentences become progressively more difficult and the test ends
21:31 when you can no longer keep up with the rhythm.
21:35 When you can no longer repeat the phrase in the time given to you.
21:40 Imagine that you managed to repeat the first 3 sentences,
21:44 but not sentence number 4.
21:47 So you gained 3 points in this exercise.
21:51 Or imagine that you managed to repeat the first 7,
21:55 but phrase 8 you no longer managed.
21:59 So you gained 7 points.
22:01 And pay attention!
22:03 For this test to work,
22:05 you cannot pause the video, rewind or repeat the exercise.
22:11 You can only do this exercise once.
22:16 Let's get started then!
22:19 3, 2, 1, let's go!
23:43 Alright, we finally finished the test!
23:46 How did it go?
23:49 Now, to see the solutions and do your self-assessment,
23:55 go to the description of this video and click on the Get Test Results link.
24:01 It's the second link in the description.
24:04 This link takes you to my website,
24:06 where you just have to enter your name and email
24:09 and I will send you the PDF with the test solutions.
24:14 This way you can see which are the right answers and why.
24:19 Then come back to YouTube and tell me how the test went.
24:24 I'm very curious to know your result.
24:28 If the test didn't go very well, it's because you don't have an A2 level yet.
24:34 In that case, I recommend that you study a little
24:38 more and try again in a few weeks or months.
24:42 If, on the other hand, the test went well,
24:45 then it's because you already have an A2 level
24:48 and you're probably ready for my B1 level course, a trip around Portugal.
24:57 a complete intermediate level course, based on a story,
25:02 that will take you from level A2 to level B1,
25:06 whilst learning more about Portuguese
25:08 culture and discovering Portugal virtually.
25:13 If you are interested in the course,
25:15 you can see more information by clicking on the third link in the description.
25:21 And finally, if you liked this test and want more tests of this style,
25:28 both for level A2 and for other levels, then leave a comment,
25:35 like this video and subscribe to the channel so you don't miss any more videos.
25:41 Thank you very much and see you next time!
