RFK Jr. Was Hungry And Dana White Had The Time Of His Life
Brett Cooper
0:00 So on Saturday night, as I'm sure you guys know by now,
0:03 shots rang out in the lobby of the Hilton Hotel where the White
0:06 House correspondence dinner and also about 15
0:08 other correspondence dinner events were taking place.
0:10 And what made me so sad in the immediate aftermath of seeing all
0:14 of this unfold on social media was
0:15 that I was not even surprised in this slightest.
0:18 I wasn't shocked, like this was just
0:20 a normal Saturday in the Trump administration, a normal Saturday in 2026.
0:25 Now, as I was watching all of the content come
0:27 out of this, seeing everybody's firsthand reports in the videos,
0:30 some people at the event seemed, you know,
0:32 similarly unfazed and then the memification
0:34 of the event just further drives this point home.
0:36 Like we've just been sitting on the internet making jokes about this for days.
0:39 And that's because this assassination culture that I've sat on the show
0:44 and talked about countless times now that we've all been talking about it,
0:46 is no longer extremism.
0:48 It is commonplace.
0:49 It is literally commonplace in our culture.
0:51 And while I think the people online often
0:53 make jokes to cope about things these days,
0:55 I feel like they're just making jokes because it all feels
0:57 like it is just a bad joke that we can't escape.
1:01 And so that my friends, is what we're gonna talk about today.
1:03 I wanna thank you guys so much for being
1:04 here and supporting the show and the channel.
1:06 Please let me know in the comments how you
1:08 guys are feeling after this assassination attempt Trump's response.
1:11 All of it I wanna hear, I'll be in the comments responding to you guys.
1:14 Alright, so what I am trying to say here is that after I got over
1:17 my initial fears for the people that I know who were sitting in that room,
1:21 hoping the president and the first lady were okay,
1:23 obviously I was laying awake in bed,
1:25 nursing my baby, laughing at memes, and I wanted to slap myself.
1:30 Like I was scrolling and scrolling like an hour and I was like,
1:33 Brett, what are we doing here?
1:34 This is just insane.
1:35 But also objectively the content that people
1:38 were churning out about different reactions,
1:40 jokes about what people were doing at the correspondence dinner,
1:43 like objectively that content was funny.
1:45 And I mean the jokes really wrote themselves in a lot of cases,
1:47 like a four example, just to give you one.
1:49 Like as everybody was ducking for cover
1:51 and the influencer journalists were, you know,
1:53 taking videos of themselves under tables, taking 0.5,
1:56 selfies, all of the things Robert F.
1:59 Kennedy Jr.
1:59 Was sitting upright.
2:01 He was stoic as everything was unfolding,
2:03 he was sitting up straight watching it all
2:05 take place and people were commenting and going, oh yeah, you know, this is just
2:08 an average day for somebody in the Kennedy family.
2:10 Like somebody else said,
2:11 he has seen crazier shit than this on a Tuesday afternoon on a family vacation,
2:14 not one single farm, fresh, organic fuck given.
2:17 This next comment was also incredible.
2:19 This is something I was chuckling about, you know, at 3:00 AM in the dark,
2:21 this guy said his brain worm mapped the trajectory
2:24 of all of the shots and told him he was safe.
2:26 No need to fuck for cover.
2:27 Another person replied to leading report who said that Robert F.
2:30 Kennedy Jr.
2:30 Was seen not ducking for cover.
2:32 And this guy replied and said, no need, he has his lucky raccoon penis on him.
2:35 Like I wouldn't put it past him.
2:36 He's got like a rabbit foot hanging from his shirt or something.
2:39 But the thing is like it wasn't even that the internet
2:42 was ascribing all of this to him, like his son.
2:44 Soon after everything transpired,
2:46 he boasted a screenshot of the Kennedy Family Group chat.
2:48 Everyone was asking, you know, are you and Cheryl okay, is everybody good?
2:51 What's happening?
2:52 And this is how RFK Junior replied, he just said, I'm really hungry.
2:56 He's unbothered, he's hungry.
2:58 I hope somebody had a good rancher steak waiting for him when he got home.
3:01 Now guys, I did not realise how much time and mental
3:03 energy I was spending on grocery shopping until I stopped
3:06 doing it as much between planning meals and running
3:08 to the grocery store and second guessing what I had to buy,
3:10 not sure if I had what I need to make dinner that night.
3:12 It just all adds up.
3:13 And so having high quality meat show up at my door every single month,
3:16 that just makes things that much easier.
3:18 It is one less thing to think about and that is
3:20 why I stick with my friends over at Good Ranchers.

4:00 Now, great snacks are just as important as a great steak,
4:03 which is why I love the new snacks from Balance of Nature.
4:05 Now, balance of nature takes whole fruits like strawberries and pineapples
4:08 and freeze dries them with their tailored
4:10 vacuum cold process into mouth watering, single ingredient snacks.
4:13 I was literally just snacking on them before I came over to film.
4:15 They have no additives, no fillers, no label reading anxiety.
4:19 It is literally just one ingredient.
4:20 And that is balance of Nature's Guiltless snacks.
4:22 They're clean, they're healthy, they taste amazing,
4:25 plus they are naturally sweet, naturally vegan, gluten-free, and they're kosher.

4:42 So check them out and get
4:43 mouth watering nutrition@balanceofnature.com slash brett today.
4:46 Again, that is mouth of nature.com/brett.
4:49 Now speaking of food and continuing on with the examples
4:51 of the things that I was seeing on social media,
4:53 the other clips that have gone the most
4:55 viral from this event are also having to do
4:57 with food like the New York City CAA agent who also did not duck for cover.
5:01 He simply continued eating his salad.
5:04 As you can see right here he is watching everything transpire.
5:06 He's poking at his food.
5:07 Apparently the salad was brought up,
5:09 so I understand I would not have stopped eating either.
5:12 Apparently he, it was a new tux, he's kind of a germophobe.
5:14 He didn't wanna get on the floor is what he told the press after the fact.
5:17 But like guys, this is the culture that we are living in in 2026.
5:20 We are watching a nonchalant assassination attempt take place,
5:24 casual, continuing on eating their salad.
5:27 Like after Trump was shot in Butler, we had a movement that was reignited.
5:31 We had people on the left who contributed to all this violent
5:33 rhetoric who suddenly woke up and realised what they had done.
5:36 There was empathy and it felt restored on both sides.
5:39 That was when people, you know,
5:40 came together across the aisle in Unity to try to make the country better.
5:43 That was in large part because of what we all witnessed on July 14th.
5:47 And now like two years later, well we gotta make sure we finish our salads.
5:50 The barta is not going to eat itself.
5:52 Like now the journalists are filming
5:54 vain tiktoks under tables, they're evacuating,
5:56 but not before they steal the leftover
5:59 alcohol that was still sitting on the table,
6:01 as you can see right here, like just watch this clip for example.
6:03 It's just unreal.
6:04 So what you have here are journalists doing more 0.5 selfies,
6:07 holding up all the champagne they're taking,
6:09 and then watch this woman, this is the one that's really gone viral.
6:11 She's in the fur coat, whoop, picks up a bottle of champagne, that's not enough.
6:16 She then gets the bottle of wine.
6:18 Like that clip in and of itself is just insane.
6:20 But you actually need to hear what the news,
6:22 what the reporter is saying over these clips as they're playing on television.
6:25 Listen to this, it's tragically, we've covered shootings,
6:29 we've covered all sorts of scary and terrible events,
6:33 tragic shootings, scary terrible events.
6:36 And the journalists are like, let,
6:38 let get my, let me get my booze before I leave.
6:41 I mean, it's just like, it's insane per usual.
6:44 It feels like a scene out of a sitcom.
6:46 And I promise I'm going somewhere with this.
6:48 I'm not just here to react to all these clips because while
6:51 we have all of this footage of people being totally chill, totally nonchalant,
6:55 some of those same journalists are now going on the news 24
6:58 hours later and talking about how they are actually recovering from trauma.
7:02 Watch this.
7:03 My sources, my contacts, my friends who were in the room with me,
7:07 they're processing the traumatic stress.
7:09 And I know for me personally,
7:10 the memories have been flooding back today I remembered talking
7:12 to House speaker Mike Johnson two minutes before all this went down.
7:16 And then I remembered as we were crouching on the ground,
7:19 hearing people shouting, get down and wondering if there was
7:22 some assailant who was loose in the ballroom.
7:24 So those memories are coming back, the- Trauma, it is flooding back.
7:27 Like, did you remember taking the champagne?
7:30 Did you remember the selfies, the fit checks?
7:33 I mean it's just, it's just absurd.
7:35 And I'm not trying to downplay something.
7:37 It was obviously a tragic and awful, terrifying event.
7:41 Especially if you are somebody who is in that room,
7:43 you're hearing the shots ring out, you have no idea where they're coming from.
7:45 You have no idea if a shooter is being neutralised.
7:47 Apparently there was no service in the room,
7:49 nobody could contact anyone and like that, that is awful.
7:52 It objectively is tragic.
7:53 But we also have to admit the ridiculousness
7:55 of watching all of this unfold live and seeing how
7:57 many people were being so cavalier about it all
8:00 to now it being trauma 24 hours later on CNN.
8:03 And if we are being truly and devastatingly honest about
8:05 this, I feel like a lot of people are just unfazed like,
8:09 like take Dana White for example.
8:10 He was in attendance at the correspondence dinner
8:12 and apparently using words from his own mouth,
8:15 this was basically the coolest night of his life.
8:17 Like he walked out of that room, he talked to the press and he said
8:20 this,- It started getting noisy tables getting flipped over,
8:23 guys running in with guns and they were screaming, get down.
8:28 I didn't get down.
8:29 It was fucking awesome.
8:30 I literally took every minute of it in and, and it was,
8:33 it was a pretty, pretty crazy unique experience.
8:37 I mean, this man, it looks like he just watched the greatest fight of his life.
8:41 He was like, I'm not getting down.
8:42 I see SWAT teams coming in.
8:44 This is sweet.
8:44 He can't stop smiling because of how epic it was.
8:47 And he is not lying.
8:48 Like this was him in the room.
8:50 Look at this, zooming in on him, this man is so happy.
8:54 And that is not the only clip.
8:55 Him still in that room, there are clips now that are circulating of him,
8:57 like sending up, looking around,
8:59 pulling out his phone, trying to take a picture.
9:00 Like, I mean he truly is just taking it all in.
9:02 It's a normal Saturday night.
9:04 He basically looks like the Andy surprised gift from Parks and Rec.
9:07 And then just to top it all off, to drive this point home of people online,
9:10 like I showed you at the beginning with the comments of the jokes on RFK Jr,
9:13 the jokes are all rolling.
9:14 Like whether it is about him, whether it is about Dana White,
9:17 the journalist selfies,
9:18 the fact that the Mentalist was the performer and he was,
9:21 you know, predicting Caroline Levitt's baby name,
9:23 but did not predict that there was an assassin waiting out in the lobby.
9:26 And like what I'm trying to say here is I
9:28 don't feel like this is a, if you're not laughing,
9:30 you're crying situation anymore.
9:32 I feel like people just wanna laugh.
9:33 Like it's all just a joke.
9:34 It's ridiculous that security wasn't tighter at an event like this.
9:38 It is insane that they arrest
9:40 a wannabe Trump assassin essentially every single month.
9:42 It is insane that it feels like after years of this nothing changes.
9:46 We're still doing the same thing.
9:47 So no wonder people are making jokes.
9:49 It's like, well what else are we gonna do?
9:51 At this point?
9:52 Like I was racking my brain this morning before I sat down to film.
9:55 I almost didn't do this episode because my genuine feeling,
9:57 I had like such a black pill moment.
9:59 I was like, genuinely, what is the point?
10:01 I had been scrolling online all weekend, all morning,
10:03 watching people react to old Hassan clips where they
10:06 call for Trump and mag and conservatives to be, you know, killed in the streets.
10:10 Yeah, kill them a result.
10:11 Kill those motherfuckers and murder those motherfuckers in the street.
10:13 Let the streets, let the streets soak
10:16 in their fucking red capitalist bloods, dude.
10:19 And you actually wrote about this and, and it
10:21 was a great video where you talked about, you know, someone has to do it.
10:28 See, when I say that, everyone knows exactly what I mean.
10:31 People condemning Jimmy Kimmel for his disgusting
10:33 joke about Melania being an expectant widow.
10:37 Our first lady Melania is here, look at so beautiful Mrs.
10:40 Trump.
10:40 You have a glow like an expectant widow,- SNL just a couple
10:44 of weeks ago joking about Trump getting shot at the Kennedy center,
10:46 like all of these types of videos.
10:48 And I think that's cool that the president is going to the theatre.
10:52 I mean, what's the worst that could happen?
10:55 I mean, it is all disgusting and I know
10:57 why people are reposting them and reacting to them.
11:00 Like I've sat on this show on my old show,
11:02 I've reacted to video after video just like that.
11:04 I've done entire episodes dedicated to this saying that, you know,
11:08 things need to change.
11:09 They must change.
11:09 I don't wanna raise a child in a world like this.
11:12 Like, and I just sat there watching it and I was like,
11:14 is it worth it to do that again, to feel like anything is actually changing?
11:18 And that was an awful, awful feeling.
11:20 Now obviously I'm sitting here, I'm doing this episode,
11:22 but it was like a gut punch that that was the way that I instinctively felt.
11:27 Now what really did stand out to me
11:28 about this assassination attempt and everything surrounding it,
11:31 unfortunately it still didn't shock me.
11:32 It was the shooter's manifesto that really stood out to me in this attempt,
11:36 because unlike so many other mass shootings and assassination attempts,
11:39 this was not some they, them having a mental breakdown,
11:42 you know, scribbling satanic verbiage in a journal, texting their trans lover,
11:47 like they're from the 18 hundreds like it was none of this, this manifest,
11:49 I dunno if you guys have read it,
11:51 I don't wanna read it here, but it was totally coherent.
11:53 It was jovial even.
11:55 He started it out by saying, hello everybody.
11:57 So sorry to be doing this, but alas, it must be done.
12:00 I mean, this man was a teacher.
12:01 He left a note at the end of the manifesto for a student saying,
12:04 I'm so sorry kids stay in school.
12:06 I don't want you to ever have to do this.
12:07 He thanked his parents, he said, I love you guys,
12:09 thank you for raising me so well.
12:11 He confidently and coherently laid out why he believed he had
12:15 to do this to save the country because of how awful Trump was.
12:17 And that was that.
12:18 It was very matter of fact.
12:19 Again, so incredibly coherent.
12:22 And this was so unbelievably chilling to me because
12:24 he just seemed like a normal guy, a normal teacher,
12:27 well educated man, somebody that any of us might
12:30 have known or might have even been friends with.
12:32 Like my mom.
12:32 Actually, this is just like awful timing.
12:34 But my mom was visiting family this week that she hadn't seen in a while,
12:37 family who once was not political in the slightest,
12:40 chose to stay out of it, you know, prioritise relationships and you know,
12:44 their passions in life over politics who
12:45 have now become completely and utterly radicalised.
12:49 Who confidently told my mother to her face that the only way
12:52 we were going to save the country was if somebody took out Trump.
12:55 And that's just one example.
12:56 I mean, Alex and I both know people you know from previous
12:59 times in our life who say the same thing confidently and publicly,
13:02 who were confident enough in these feelings to text and say
13:04 that they didn't even feel bad when Charlie Kirk was shot.
13:07 That they had no empathy for his children, for his family,
13:09 that they were actually happy about it because they felt like he deserved it.
13:12 Posted about it, texted about it in group chats, totally comfortable.
13:15 These are normal people, normal people from Middle America, frat pros.
13:20 They are not the freaking blue haired BDSM fetish loving authors,
13:24 writing trans children's books fighting for anarchy.
13:26 They're not the bald,
13:28 bearded booby Oxford University tutor that is going viral right now,
13:31 which you can see here like absolute freaks.
13:33 Like they are normal friends and family people
13:36 that we have grown up with that attended our wedding,
13:39 who sent us presents for our son,
13:41 all of whom have been successfully radicalised or the things that they say
13:46 in post aren't far off from what this man wrote in his manifesto.
13:49 And that is what stood out to me.
13:51 That is what was so unbelievably chilling.
13:53 And it is also just on a personal note, it is so disorienting.
13:56 Like, how can you call me when I am freshly postpartum and check in on me?
14:00 How can you send Alex and I presents for our newborn
14:03 baby son and then post on Facebook about how you think
14:06 Trump and all of MAGA and all of his voters should
14:08 be shot and do that all in the span of one week.
14:11 It is sickening.
14:12 And unfortunately, that's just the world that we live in.
14:14 It's so atrocious.
14:15 And then you go online and you're laughing at jokes about
14:18 all of it because I guess that's all we can do.
14:20 And like, and I, I'm sitting here and I wish I
14:22 had an answer or solution for where we go from here,
14:24 but I genuinely have no idea.
14:26 And I don't think most people do either.
14:27 Like I look around at my generation, I read y'all's comments,
14:30 the things that you DM me and send me,
14:32 and I just see us all existing in this chaos,
14:35 laughing at memes and making jokes because it's easier.
14:37 And honestly at this point, it is our normal, as gross and sickening as it is,
14:41 it is so commonplace now that again,
14:44 when I saw this news, I went, okay, another one.
14:47 And that is such an awful feeling like to bring
14:49 it back to what I was talking about at the beginning,
14:51 RFK, like, are we just all Kennedy's now?
14:53 So accustomed to horrifying, tragic, awful events that now when it's,
14:58 when it's all over, when consuming the news is over,
15:00 when the doom scrolling is done at 3:00 AM we
15:02 just shoot our family a text wondering what's for dinner,
15:04 wondering if brunch is still on for next Saturday,
15:07 because we just move through the horrific events because they're commonplace.
15:11 And so what do we do?
15:11 Do we try to fight back against the people who won't talk to us,
15:15 won't listen, won't reason want us dead and spit on the graves of our friends?
15:19 Or do we just say, I'm done and I, I'm disconnecting from it all.
15:22 I'm not gonna scroll, I'm not gonna consume it.
15:23 I'm not going to engage.
15:25 That's honestly, even though I, I do this show and I'm in media,
15:27 like it's a question that I wrestle with literally every
15:30 single day before I sit down in front of this microphone.
15:32 Now the good thing is,
15:32 and thank God for this, as many problems as our party has,
15:36 especially right now, as many criticisms as voters are expressing at the moment,
15:39 I am proud to say that when it comes to this, we
15:42 are not like the other side and I hope we never will be.
15:44 Our decency and morality generally is still intact.
15:49 So thank God for that.
