End-to-End Demo: Transform Business Operations with SAP Business Suite | SAP Connect
SAP
0:03 Hello everyone and it's truly great to be here.
0:06 What I want to do today is bring
0:08 the Business Suite to life with an end-to-end demo.
0:11 And for context, you're going to see a manufacturing
0:15 company with global operations all over the world.
0:18 It's in high tech industry and the CFO detects a couple of business challenges.
0:23 These business challenges need to be solved
0:26 by collaboration with the other stakeholders in the organization.
0:29 So let's go and get started.
0:34 So imagine a CFO walking in on the Monday morning
0:39 and getting an overview of the state of the business.
0:43 What you will find there in the bottom is an overview of sales,
0:47 revenue, and working capital.
0:48 This is clearly highlighting there is a revenue gap, there is a sales gap,
0:53 and on top of that, working capital is not in shape.
0:56 In the top layer, what you find there is business process insights.
1:00 Here we are for instance, seeing that there's duplicated invoices,
1:03 that there are orders that are shipped but not built.
1:06 But there are also some payment term discrepancies.
1:09 So we want to get started and Joule, our copilot,
1:13 highlights there are a couple of business process issues
1:16 that are highlighted and if you would solve them,
1:18 we could generate 40 million in value.
1:21 So obviously we want to dive in and say let's start with procurement to pay.
1:24 What are the issues and what do we need to do?
1:27 Joule comes back and said, look,
1:28 the biggest issue that we have are payment term discrepancies.
1:32 So we can see the root cause, we can see the total impact,
1:35 but we can also see the reason for that.
1:37 Now we want to ask Joule do create a plan and help solve for that.
1:42 Joule comes back and with the help of AI we get
1:45 a plan and the plan highlights what we need to do.
1:47 For instance, updating our supplier master data
1:50 and forcing standard payment terms and so forth.
1:53 So what do we want to do?
1:54 We want to say, okay, Joule,
1:55 please you know, go ahead and action these activities.
2:00 The next step would be to look into order to cash.
2:03 Do we have some issues there as well?
2:05 And again, here Joule was highlighting, we have two issues.
2:08 The first issue is that we have late deliveries for a number of reason.
2:13 And the second issue is that we have shipped but not built.
2:16 So we see we want to solve for that.
2:18 And as you can see, there is quite some revenue at risk.
2:22 So please go ahead, create a plan.
2:24 Now, Muhammad just talked about the app-less experience.
2:27 What you're seeing here is SAP Signavio,
2:30 but I don't have to go to Signavio to go through this flow.
2:34 I can do this to Joule create a plan and action that.
2:38 So now when we go through that plan, we see that we have,
2:42 if we action all of that, an opportunity to deliver 40 million in value,
2:46 that the next step would be to actually work together with the CRO.
2:50 Because what we also saw,
2:51 and you can see that here as well in the revenue intelligence as part of BDC,
2:56 is a revenue gap and a sales gap.
2:58 So the key question is, you know, what do we need to do to solve for that?
3:02 And again, here we open up Joule.
3:04 And Joule brings us to our opportunity dashboard where we can see our budget,
3:09 our forecast, our upside, as well as what is the current gap.
3:12 And what Joule is highlighting is look,
3:14 the current budget attainment tracks at 80%.
3:17 We have a 500 million gap.
3:18 So could you suggest what I should do about that?
3:22 And Joule comes back and said, look,
3:23 there are three active upside opportunities that we could actually
3:28 look into because if we can move them into the forecast,
3:30 we would close our budget attainment issue.
3:34 So the double click would be to say,
3:35 Hey, why don't we focus on that first opportunity,
3:38 bring us to the opportunity summary and highlight what the issue is.
3:42 And the issue is that this particular customer,
3:45 you know, has placed an order for certain configuration,
3:48 but that configuration is out of the, outside of the customer delivery time.
3:54 So now the key question is, will that opportunity then go to our competitor
3:58 or could we do something about it?
4:01 What Joule highlights is that instead of selling this configuration,
4:04 we could potentially sell more standardized configuration that we have sold,
4:09 sold more than 10 times over the past two years.
4:12 So what would you like to do?
4:13 what we want to do is Joule write an email to the customer and highlight, hey,
4:17 we are going to try and do our best
4:21 to deliver that custom or custom configuration on time, but at the same time,
4:26 would you be willing to change your mind
4:28 and go for a more standardized approach?
4:31 So we send that email and the next step would be to work together with the COO.
4:35 Why do we want to work together with the COO?
4:37 Because we still want to understand could
4:40 we actually deliver that customized or configuration within,
4:44 you know, the 30-day lead time?
4:47 That's exactly what we are going to ask.
4:49 And here we're going to ask for the deep research agent
4:54 to find an opportunity to deliver this opportunity within the 30 days.
5:01 And what Joule comes back is something pretty interesting.
5:04 It shows that custom configuration on the left top
5:07 side that is highlighted and requested by the customer.
5:10 But as we can see there's a couple of critical components that are not in stock.
5:15 And on top of that, the lead time to get there is more than a hundred days.
5:18 So that's clearly not working.
5:20 What is working is a more standardized
5:23 configuration that we have solved in the past,
5:25 as you can see there on the right hand side in the evaluation.
5:29 Now that is the option that we want to go for.
5:31 That's also what Joule highlights.
5:33 You know, I would position an alternative GPU configuration,
5:37 but what Joule is also highlighting if that's not accepted by the customer,
5:41 we could for instance offer incentives for extended lead time.
5:44 So what we want to do, we want to go for option one,
5:47 but at the same time we are seeing that even
5:50 in the standardized configuration there's one critical component not in stock.
5:54 So we need to work together
5:56 with the chief procurement officer to get that expedited.
6:00 So we move to the CPO and again Joule highlights that we need to take action
6:05 on that particular component and controller to get
6:08 that delivered within the next 30 business days.
6:11 And we say look, you know, there is a confirmed supplier where we can do
6:15 that, let's move forward and start the PO process.
6:19 But before we do that, we want to obviously understand are there,
6:24 you know, any concerns that come up in in the business.
6:28 And one of the things that we
6:30 are seeing is through the integration with Perplexity,
6:33 we are getting an alert that there is a potential supply risk.
6:37 And Perplexity comes back and said, look,
6:39 actually a couple of hours ago an earthquake hit in Thailand
6:43 and this supplier has its most manufacturing sites in Thailand.
6:47 What could we do about that?
6:48 And here the the answer is we're going to use our SAP Business Network,
6:54 which is the largest business- to-business network in the world
6:57 with more than 3 million suppliers transacting on that every single day.
7:01 And based on the network, what we find,
7:03 there's two alternative suppliers but they're in Vietnam.
7:07 So the question is could we actually go for one of them?
7:10 Now what we are seeing there is one that fits our lead time of 30 days,
7:14 but at the same time it is quite expensive.
7:17 So what we want to do is to understand did
7:20 we actually negotiate better terms with the supplier in the past?
7:24 And we are asking the Gemini Agent to find
7:27 in our inbox whether we did yes or no.
7:30 And the answer is yes, we did.
7:31 So we want to take that unstructured data,
7:34 make that structured, confirm the RFP and issue this.
7:39 So we issue the RFP, we should get the components on time and the next
7:43 thing will be to work together with HR.
7:46 What we are finding in general when it comes
7:48 to the HR organization is the move to a skill-based organization.
7:53 And what we are want to ask Joule is hey,
7:55 what are the skill gaps that we are seeing in the commercial organization?
7:59 And what we have seen obviously in this demo so far is that we just have
8:04 accepted an order from a customer for a special
8:08 configuration that is outside the delivery window.
8:11 At the same time we also saw
8:13 that we have sold a more standardized configuration,
8:16 you know, more than 10 times in the past two years.
8:19 So why is the commercial organization not picking that up?
8:22 Why are we not using the data to shape demand proactively?
8:26 That's exactly what is highlighted here,
8:29 that we have some skill gaps in the commercial organization.
8:33 Those skills are AI-driven sales insights,
8:36 some decision intelligence, and solution configuration with AI.
8:40 So what we want to do next,
8:41 we actually want to ask the SuccessFactors Learning agent to come
8:45 up with a plan to solve for some of those skill gaps.
8:49 And the feedback is hey, we can actually initiate an upscale plan
8:53 that can be delivered in the next 45 days.
8:57 So then we come back to the CFO and obviously the CFO picture looks much better.
9:01 In the top, we have solved a lot of the business
9:05 process issues so we can deliver 40 million more in value,
9:08 but in the bottom we also see that we do not have a budget gap anymore.
9:13 We're actually tracking towards a budget attainment of 110%.
9:17 So we ask Joule to summarize an update when it comes to, you know,
9:22 what has happened in the business because we want
9:25 to share that with the CEO of the company.
9:28 And that's where we get next.
9:30 As a CEO, you also have a personalized dashboards with the state of the business
9:35 and we ask AI to actually summarize the state of the business and what happens.
9:40 And here you can see that AI summarized
9:42 that we started the quarter with a 80% budget attainment,
9:46 but due to the ACT activities of the commercial
9:48 organization we can actually deliver now 110%.
9:52 However, in order to do that we have
9:55 to expedite some materials from an alternative supplier in Vietnam.
9:59 That is more expensive and hence put the pressure on gross margin.
10:04 Now what we also saw is that we have solved some of the business
10:07 process issues and that delivered more than 40 million in annual value.
10:12 So what we then want to do is actually open the report and look
10:15 at the P&L where we can then also get financial results and insights.
10:20 And here you know, we can see budget, you know,
10:23 first as latest forecast we can see top line.
10:26 We also see cost and gross margin.
10:29 And the summary is hey, we can actually deliver 110% of budget,
10:33 but we as an organization need to be okay that the gross margin will drop
10:37 from the initially predicted 12% to 11% simply
10:41 because we have that alternate supplier issue in Vietnam.
10:45 But on top of that, you know,
10:46 we can actually deliver an incremental 40 million because we are solving
10:51 those process issues in procurement to pay and in order to cash.
10:55 Now on top of that we can then also look
10:57 at a P&L by time and see that over time, you know, the forecast, you know,
11:03 keeps ahead of budget,
11:04 which means that the business is in good shape and we can deliver,
11:09 you know, on the budget that we set for ourselves.
11:13 So that would summarize the Business Suite demo where you could see,
11:18 you know, how do we detect a business issue,
11:21 you know, from a CFO perspective that obviously
11:24 cannot be solved by just the CFO community.
11:26 We have to collaborate proactively with the other functions in the organization.
11:31 And I think what is beautiful about the Business Suite,
11:33 it's not just the ability to solve that problem,
11:36 but to do that, you know, at scale,
11:38 to do that with much greater pace and also to break down
11:42 the silos in an organization where
11:44 these functions come together and work better together.
