0:43 [Music] [Music] You're joining the snake room.
1:19 We have a crazy project.
1:23 Matt Pat is coming back to star in a stick short film.
1:27 Hence why we have his beautiful face right there.
1:31 Um, and you guys get to join in on the writing process.
1:34 We've had enough fun on our own.
1:36 I want to enjoy it.
1:36 We want you guys to join.
1:38 Before we get too far into it, tell them to bring their friends on the stream.
1:41 Guys, you can't start unless all your friends are on the stream.
1:44 You know anyone that's ever watched Mats and is a theorist, send them the link.
1:51 DM them right now and we'll wait.
1:53 We will wait.
1:56 [Music] Testing complete.
2:13 Can you hear us?
2:14 Can you hear us now?
2:20 Let's just lower the music.
2:21 Is it just the music that was too loud?
2:22 Is that all?
2:26 Cuz I can lower the
2:27 Can you hear us now?
2:28 Can you hear us?
2:28 Fine.
2:29 Now music stopped.
2:32 I was just saying the music is too loud.
2:35 Can you hear us without the music?
2:38 Okay, they're saying yes.
2:39 Good.
2:41 Amazing.
2:40 Is it laggy?
2:40 Is it fine?
2:43 Let me put the music softer.
2:44 Let's see if you can hear us.
2:49 All right, we're good.
2:50 I think we're good, bro.
2:51 All right, I think we are good.
2:53 Guys, before we get into it,
2:54 we need to we need you to tell all your furious friends.
2:57 If you have a friend who's a map pack uh freak,
3:02 yeah, we should probably tell them that this stream is happening.
3:05 You guys have the power to control what Matap does on screen in a stick film.
3:11 I think this is going to be a fun live stream.
3:13 We want to hear all your all your ideas.
3:15 If you know anyone who's a theorist Matt Pat
3:18 fan who always is just spitting out great ideas.
3:21 Say Lucas is muffled.
3:22 Everyone's just saying no music.
3:23 We're just going to cut the music.
3:24 There we go.
3:25 Can you hear us now?
3:26 Is that better?
3:29 Still pretty loud.
3:30 Okay.
3:31 No music.
3:32 Music's done.
3:33 There's a stupid idea of the music.
3:36 Okay, this is so funny.
3:40 Turn up the mics.
3:42 They're saying it's really hard to hear, Lucas.
3:43 All right.
3:44 Is your mic on, bro?
3:45 Yeah, my mic's on.
3:47 Can you hear me now?
3:48 Fully connected, though.
3:48 Like plugged in?
3:51 Yeah.
3:54 Test test test.
3:56 It shouldn't be connected to our AirPods.
3:57 H.
4:02 While we figure this out, guys, tell your theorist friends.
4:07 Tell your theorist friends.
4:09 Jump on.
4:11 Can you hear me?
4:12 Back there.
4:12 Should be coming through my mic.
4:15 Can you hear me?
4:16 Everyone's saying you can hear you.
4:18 Can you hear me now?
4:19 It was just the music.
4:21 Everyone can hear Lucas.
4:22 I think we're good.
4:24 Great.
4:23 I guess a lot of you guys are wondering where is Matt Pat.
4:26 He'll we'll bring him out soon when we're ready.
4:30 When we have enough good ideas,
4:32 we're going to be pitching to him some point in the stream.
4:36 So,
4:37 I think we're both quiet.
4:38 Let me just do a quick test.
4:41 One, two, one, two.
4:43 Everything.
4:43 It sounds great, guys.
4:44 I think we're good.
4:44 I think we're good.
4:45 The volume up.
4:47 All right.
4:47 Well, welcome.
4:51 Welcome once again
4:51 to the Sticks Writers Room.
4:53 The Sticks Writers Room.
4:54 Curtis, do you want to show show them what we got to write our script?
4:57 This is the probably the coolest part about this whole thing.
4:59 We can't write a script IRL with you guys live without a typewriter.
5:05 We have a typewriter IRL.
5:07 We got an actual typewriter and it actually works.
5:10 If you don't know, when we surprised Matt Pat with his own life movie,
5:15 um we gave him a proposition.
5:17 We asked, "We would love for you to star in a stick short film." He said yes.
5:24 We said or it was actually once we hit 1 million subscribers.
5:28 He said yes.
5:29 And guess what?
5:30 We've hit a million subscribers.
5:31 So you guys have been waiting for this short film,
5:34 but we thought why not bring you guys in so you can write this with us.
5:38 So we're not ending the stream until we've written the script for this map.
5:42 We need pages.
5:43 We got We got pages.
5:44 We need pages of script.
5:46 I I see what you mean now.
5:48 We're going to finish the script live on stream with you guys.
5:53 Can you see the typewriter?
5:54 Okay, guys.
5:58 Why a typewriter?
6:00 Bro, the only way to get this done as fast
6:03 as we need it to be done is with a typewriter.
6:07 Yeah, that's why a typewriter.
6:09 That's why a typewriter.
6:10 So, guys, can you keep explaining for people who jump who are coming in?
6:13 Okay, if you're just joining us, this is the stick writers room.
6:16 This is a test, by the way.
6:17 We've never done anything like this before.
6:18 So, if you guys like it, we might do it more.
6:20 But seeing as we already write a lot
6:23 of our like we sit down to write this stuff,
6:26 might as well have you guys in the chat
6:29 giving ideas and like collaborating with us.
6:32 So, that's the idea here.
6:34 This is the Sticks Writers Room and we're going to come up with ideas.
6:39 Well, we have we have some ideas,
6:40 but we're going to come up with the story and idea for this MattPat collab.
6:44 A lot of you guys have been waiting for it.
6:46 When we hit uh 1 million, we said we're going to we're going to make this thing.
6:50 We've hit a million.
6:51 So, we have nothing else on our mind other than
6:54 make this short film for you guys and with you guys.
6:58 So, if you're just joining us, we have a typewriter right here.
7:01 We're going to be typing out this whole script live.
7:05 And at the end, we're going to pitch the script and story
7:09 to MattPat himself.
7:10 To Matt Pat himself.
7:12 He's coming on live with us.
7:14 Isn't that crazy?
7:16 Crazy.
7:16 So, we really got to get some good ideas cuz this is the ultimate theorist.
7:20 We need some help because the premise of the short film is out of our depth.
7:27 That's right.
7:27 Right.
7:27 What we're getting into, we you know when they say write what you know?
7:31 Yeah.
7:30 We're about to write what we don't know.
7:32 So, we need your help cuz I think you
7:34 guys might know more than we do around this topic.
7:39 That's right.
7:39 So, who are we looking for in the in the chat to like collaborate with?
7:44 What kind of people are we looking for?
7:45 We're looking for people who are have bright minds, theorist minds,
7:50 who know gaming very well, who know horror game tropes.
7:54 And we're going to get into it in a second,
7:56 but we really want people who are are fans of Matt and know games really well,
8:03 cuz the story we're coming up with is very game related.
8:06 So, if you know anyone who's who would have great ideas,
8:10 throw them the link to this live stream.
8:14 All right, I'm going to start reading chat a little bit.
8:17 What are they saying, K?
8:18 All right, they're saying maybe don't worry about that.
8:21 I think we're good.
8:22 Just open up the Okay, I'm a horror game developer.
8:28 Oh, we have a horror game developer.
8:30 That's great.
8:32 Everyone's into FNAF.
8:33 Let's hear these qualifications.
8:35 What are your qualifications?
8:36 As you join the sticks room, we want to hear why you might have the best ideas.
8:41 What's your background?
8:43 Um, yeah, just give us a little explanation of
8:45 Okay, they want a Steph cameo.
8:47 Should we start writing these ideas down?
8:48 We should start writing these ideas down.
8:50 You got a pen.
8:50 I'm going to start writing the actual short film.
8:52 You can just write the ideas.
8:53 I'm just going to get into it.
8:55 We want a Steph cameo.
8:56 Anything is possible in the Sticks Writers Room.
9:00 Steph cameo is written down.
9:03 All right,
9:04 that's just a tea a test of a taste of what we're going to be getting into.
9:07 Yeah, we haven't started the break at all yet.
9:09 No, that was nothing.
9:10 That was not it.
9:11 That was just a little tester.
9:12 So, and just if you're joining us again, we're calling Matt.
9:16 We're going to call him in and get his opinion on our idea.
9:19 So, we have a matter of minutes, well, depends how long we go,
9:24 how long we need to get a bunch
9:26 of great ideas before we present them to MattPat.
9:30 Yeah.
9:29 And if he doesn't like them, we will be solely embarrassed.
9:32 But this film is happening regardless.
9:34 That's right.
9:35 We're making a short film with MattPat and we need your ideas.
9:39 All right, last chance to get all your friends in the stream.
9:43 Anyone who wants to join in before we get into it.
9:47 Um because very soon we're about to go full brainstorm mode on this short film.
9:52 Let's pull up the chat on this computer.
9:54 How do we do that?
9:55 Okay.
9:55 Yeah, I I got it.
9:57 All right.
9:58 Cuz I don't want to be looking at my friend all the time.
10:00 All right.
10:01 You're good.
10:01 All right.
10:02 Talk to the chat.
10:03 What next?
10:04 You want a Scott Coron cameo, please?
10:07 Can you write that down?
10:08 Yeah, I'll write that down.
10:15 Scott Corlin Cameo.
10:21 Whoa, the ideas are just flooding in, guys.
10:24 Oh my gosh.
10:25 Slow down, guys.
10:26 We need we need a way to actually go through all these ideas systematically.
10:33 Yeah.
10:35 Okay.
10:36 I can put this here as well.
10:37 We can read it through here.
10:39 Last chance to send it to your friends before we get into it.
10:46 Do you want me to do that?
10:48 Yep.
10:48 Oh, there.
10:49 Here we go.
10:52 All right, guys.
10:53 Let's see how many people we can get in the stream before we start.
10:56 We want to make sure we have enough MattPat fans,
10:59 enough um gamers, horror gamers,
11:04 people that kind of follow the game theory lore cuz we're about
11:09 to present some ideas to MattPad and we need to impress him.
11:12 So, like we said, this is out of our wheelhouse.
11:16 We're writing what we don't know.
11:18 So, we need you guys to fill in the gaps for us.
11:22 The ideas are coming from chat today.
11:31 Okay, we're set on that end.
11:34 Yeah.
11:35 All right.
11:36 On this one.
11:38 Yeah.
11:40 I'm just going to get this working here.
11:44 Easy.
11:43 So, just tell them what we need to do.
11:47 Okay.
11:47 Here's the here's the plan.
11:49 So, we're going to try and do this a little systematically.
11:53 We want to give you guys a bit of an update on, first of all,
11:56 what the holdup was on the Mat collab,
12:00 cuz it if it was up to us,
12:01 we would just wanted to do things straight away
12:03 and as soon as we hit 1 million subs,
12:05 post that video, right?
12:07 Yeah.
12:07 So, we're going to start with that announcement just to catch you up to speed.
12:10 Why has this taken so long?
12:12 How long ago did we hit 1 million?
12:13 Cuz that's when the show come out.
12:15 Six months ago.
12:16 Six months.
12:17 So I would say nearly six months.
12:19 Yeah.
12:19 So the questions in the comments, we've been seeing it
12:23 and and so coming out.
12:25 So basically the idea was like we wanted to see
12:29 if it was like possible to do a legit FNAF spin-off.
12:33 Yeah.
12:33 Like
12:33 cuz that would be so sick.
12:34 That would be so sick to take Matt Pat's character from the FNAF movie
12:40 and do a full on.
12:41 That's so the first like few months of like
12:44 us trying to figure out the idea and what
12:46 it could be was like us seeing how is
12:49 it even possible to do this like actually with FNAF
12:53 like the brand and like
12:55 but then it like got really complicated with having to like trying to get um
13:01 there's a lot to go into the rights of that.
13:04 Yeah.
13:04 It's like it's actually very like tricky to do that.
13:06 But we tried spent months and months talking to people
13:11 trying to figure out if there was a way to make it happen,
13:14 but it didn't happen.
13:17 Yeah.
13:17 So, but that doesn't mean this whole collab shouldn't happen.
13:21 Exactly.
13:21 We We faced a bit of a roadblock, but we're going to push through.
13:24 We're going to see how we can still make this a really special internet moment.
13:28 And I think the idea is like, can we make it feel like FNAF,
13:33 feel like a spin-off without officially being a spin-off,
13:36 obviously, and still give you guys Matt Pat
13:39 acting in a short film that we direct, and that's kind of the goal here.
13:43 So,
13:43 and we have some great ideas, guys.
13:45 Save your ideas.
13:46 We haven't gotten into ideas yet.
13:47 Everyone's like spamming ideas.
13:49 Slow down, guys.
13:50 Slow down.
13:51 Hold your horses.
13:52 Hold your horses.
13:54 Okay.
13:55 So, you set with that?
13:59 Almost.
14:00 Almost.
14:03 Cool.
14:03 Okay.
14:06 Now, we're going to start reading your ideas.
14:08 We want to tell you our idea and kind of give like
14:10 a bit of a guide of like where we think this should go.
14:12 But first, I think it's worth hearing some of their ideas.
14:14 Don't you think?
14:15 Yeah, for sure.
14:16 Even just from the like from a blank page, like say we're starting from scratch.
14:21 Yeah.
14:21 Which we are basically.
14:24 Yeah.
14:23 What?
14:24 Where do you guys want to start?
14:26 Okay, I'm I'm reading some of the chat right now.
14:30 Okay.
14:29 Amna Gor says, "A digital detective who spent his life exposing
14:33 the secrets behind games begins to suspect one theory might be real."
14:40 That's great, guys.
14:40 Give me some more.
14:41 Give me some more synopsises.
14:42 What's a synopsis?
14:43 Yeah, this.
14:44 Okay.
14:44 So, a synopsis is like a one sentence,
14:47 one or two sentence explanation of a story.
14:50 So, give us some more synopsis.
14:52 synopsis like that.
14:53 That was awesome.
14:54 Give us something different.
14:59 If you do that, I can just click it.
15:00 Been coming up for me.
15:02 Oh, really?
15:04 Yeah.
15:04 All right.
15:04 We have Ness meeting and joining his group
15:08 of theorists that have been researching Freddy's backstory.
15:11 And you could reference his old theories,
15:13 and they could go on they could end up uncovering Freddy's dark secrets.
15:20 Matt Pat makes a video saying, "I'm coming back on Game Theory like Ryan
15:23 Shrehan." And it turns into a movie where all
15:25 the current hosts meet Matt Pat like Santa and Lee
15:28 and all the rest of they're in a horror.
15:31 That's cool.
15:32 That is cool.
15:33 Remake of the of FNAF the musical from Random
15:35 Encounters that had Matt Pat and Markiply in it.
15:38 That's cool.
15:42 This is great.
15:43 This is great.
15:45 Yeah.
15:45 Let me know if you got that.
15:46 Okay.
15:47 I got it, too.
15:52 These ideas are crazy.
15:54 Like we said, anything's possible.
15:56 Anything is possible.
15:57 We do have some ideas we'll share with you, but we want
16:01 If you're just joining, again,
16:02 we're writing a we're coming up with ideas
16:04 with you guys in a in our live writers room.
16:07 And this is for the MattPat collab that we're going
16:09 to make a short film with Matt Pat starring in it.
16:12 And then at the end of this live stream, we're going to call Matt.
16:15 We're going to bring him on stream and we're
16:16 going to tell him some of our our ideas
16:19 because when we surprise Matt Pat with his life movie,
16:22 he said when we hit a million subs, he will star in a sticks film.
16:27 That's right.
16:28 So, you guys have unlocked it.
16:29 Now, it's time to write it together.
16:31 And we're actually making this thing.
16:34 Cool.
16:34 I think we're good.
16:35 You ready?
16:36 All right, let's go.
16:47 All right,
16:51 cool.
16:50 All right, let's get into it, guys.
16:52 So, we're going to start writing down your ideas,
16:55 and the best ideas will be the will be what we pitch to Matt at the end.
17:01 Yeah.
17:00 And we have a bit of an idea of where we want to go,
17:02 so we can help guide this thing.
17:04 But Lucas, you can stay on writing the ideas down.
17:07 I'm going to I'm just going to be typing away the actual script to this thing.
17:11 Yeah, you write the script.
17:12 All right, cool.
17:13 All right, they want jump scares.
17:14 Can you write down jump scares?
17:16 We are full.
17:17 We are We are well on our way.
17:18 We are underway right now with ideas.
17:21 You can start sending through ideas in the chat.
17:24 They want jump scares.
17:25 They want Forest of Rotting Hands.
17:28 Not sure what that is.
17:29 What is that?
17:31 I would love someone to explain that.
17:32 What is Forest of Rotting Hands?
17:34 Can someone explain what for guys?
17:36 Again, we're not We haven't played much games.
17:39 We're just filmmakers who want to work with talented people like Matt Pat.
17:43 We want to make this really special for his audience.
17:45 You guys are going to tell us what's forest.
17:48 What's this forest thing?
17:58 Is anyone explaining the forest?
18:01 They want lore and mystery.
18:02 Of course, lore and mystery.
18:03 Lore and mystery.
18:04 I'm never going to write that down.
18:05 That's
18:05 footage.
18:06 found footage.
18:08 Interesting.
18:08 A background of a forest of rotting hands is what he said.
18:12 All right.
18:13 Matt Pat Truman Show.
18:14 Interesting.
18:15 Okay, I think we're on to something here.
18:18 Matt Pat Truman Show.
18:20 Yikes is in the chat.
18:21 What's up, bro?
18:22 Let's go.
18:22 We're writing a short film live with our audience.
18:24 It's pretty wild.
18:25 The chat's really fast.
18:29 Isn't Let me slow it down a bit.
18:34 Actually, it's fine.
18:36 Okay, Matt, if if I can't read it and it's like a really good idea,
18:40 I don't know if there's like donations on this, but it
18:42 might be an easier way to like see really good ideas.
18:45 If you have a really banger idea,
18:47 the profits will just go straight to making this thing even better for you guys.
18:50 So,
18:51 it'll just be easier for us to read it on stream.
18:57 Yeah, we need to activate slow mode so we can see chat better.
19:00 Okay, I can do that.
19:00 Yeah.
19:05 All right.
19:06 Any more ideas, guys?
19:07 Let's see.
19:08 Okay.
19:08 So, Matt Pat discovers he is a character in a video game.
19:12 Interesting.
19:13 Someone said that.
19:15 Yeah.
19:15 That's so sick.
19:17 That is awesome.
19:18 Who said that?
19:19 Got to give credit.
19:20 Oh, wait.
19:20 Wait.
19:20 Yeah.
19:20 We got to give credit.
19:24 Oh, this chat is so fast.
19:28 Yeah.
19:28 Slow it down.
19:35 They can send it again if
19:37 All right, send it again because I might have missed who wrote that.
19:40 Make sure you click that.
19:41 So,
19:42 yeah, you got it.
19:44 All right, we've slowed down chat.
19:45 It's going to be a lot more attainable now.
19:47 Way easier.
19:48 Okay, you get like one one message per 60 seconds.
19:54 You have to you have to reference as many old theories as you can, guys.
19:57 Love it.
19:58 Love it.
19:59 Yes, we need we need a list.
20:00 I'm writing that down.
20:01 We need a list of old theories as much as many references as we can put in this.
20:06 NPAD discovers he's a game character.
20:08 That's awesome.
20:10 Um, okay.
20:15 Nest goes through a cooking what's that one?
20:18 Nest goes through a cooking a cook
20:20 training while the training is going on animatronics.
20:24 Animatronics try to kill him.
20:25 Interesting.
20:28 Nice.
20:28 Get someone else to be controlling in a video game.
20:32 Oh, that's very interesting.
20:34 Okay, we're getting we're getting some ideas.
20:36 This is kind of what we were thinking.
20:37 We have some ideas that are very
20:38 It's so funny how you guys are aligning with our ideas.
20:40 You'll find out in a minute.
20:44 Make a movie like Whiplash,
20:45 but it shows the stress of YouTubers or game developers.
20:48 Nice.
20:49 Matt Pat becomes the FNAF security guard at the restaurant.
20:53 So, I think what we can do is like maybe there is
20:55 a way we can like have him in an ali alternate universe.
20:59 It's not like he's at the same like his All right.
21:02 Like his his FNAF cameo
21:04 with him playing Nest.
21:05 Is that right?
21:06 Yes.
21:06 With him.
21:07 We can't copy that exactly.
21:08 No, we can't copy it.
21:09 But what we can do
21:11 is use some game theory law.
21:14 Use some MattPat law where obviously everyone knows
21:18 that he made the theory Sans is Ness.
21:22 Mhm.
21:22 Am I right?
21:22 Yep.
21:23 We've thought about this one.
21:25 Sans is Nest.
21:26 Do you know what that means?
21:27 That means we can have our own diner scene.
21:30 And he he's got a different diner.
21:33 It's not from FNAF.
21:34 It's a different movie.
21:35 It's different world.
21:36 Different world.
21:36 But his name,
21:37 this is good
21:38 is Sans.
21:40 Then we get away with so much.
21:42 His name is Guys.
21:43 I'm writing the actual script.
21:45 Sans at a diner.
21:47 I got an actual typewriter here, guys.
21:49 That just went straight in the script.
21:51 writing the full script that just went straight in the script.
21:53 Okay.
21:55 Um, so that that's cool.
21:56 So the question is how does that uh that scene play into the movie?
22:02 Mhm.
22:03 Um,
22:03 are you guys liking that idea?
22:04 Is that like cool?
22:04 Yeah.
22:04 We need we need to know if that's uh let's
22:06 put something like W's in the chat for that idea.
22:09 In the chat if you like the alternate universe of this diner.
22:12 Yeah.
22:12 So it's not Ness, it's Sans.
22:15 Alternate universe.
22:17 We're free to use that.
22:19 Let's wait for them to respond and then we can move on.
22:23 Are we liking it?
22:25 Let's see.
22:28 Yes, they're saying yes.
22:29 Yes.
22:29 Okay.
22:30 WW.
22:31 Yes.
22:32 Okay.
22:32 Okay.
22:33 Good idea.
22:34 Great.
22:34 Sans locked in.
22:36 And now, okay, I I don't want to um stop the the ideas from flowing.
22:44 So, before we get into like some other ideas we have,
22:47 um, let's just keep reading out some ideas cuz we might,
22:50 um, it might open the horizons a little bit.
22:58 We need a car chase scene and he's trying to get away from the pizzeria.
23:02 Um, the bishop Matt Pat got to save games from a disease infecting games.
23:15 The Bishop is just flying with these with these uh
23:19 these synopsis suggestions.
23:21 It's great, guys.
23:23 Matt's old theories are all secretly true and are
23:26 meeting in secret and Matt is uncovering the secrets.
23:30 Orion C.
23:31 That's very interesting.
23:34 Write that down.
23:38 Steph is the main antagonist.
23:41 Guys, do we want Steph to make a cameo in this?
23:43 W's in the chat if you do.
23:45 Is that a good idea?
23:47 If so, I'll write it in the script right now.
23:53 Steph the antagonist?
23:56 Well, Steph to be in it at all.
23:58 Steph to be in it at all.
24:00 W's for Steph.
24:12 Um, Dan Miss said since FNAF cuz the FNAF 2 announcement came out.
24:17 So, yes, Matt Pad is in FNAF 2 as well.
24:21 Crazy.
24:20 Which probably played into the other reason why it was so hard
24:23 for us earlier to get this to be a real FNAF spinner.
24:26 Got FNAF um two Matt Pat voices Bonnie.
24:31 So perhaps Dan miss says you can show how
24:35 he gets killed and his soul goes to Bonnie.
24:37 Interesting.
24:38 But we can't touch the actual uh IP of FNAF.
24:42 So we got to stick to be careful.
24:47 Try and keep it on live mode.
24:49 Put Matt Pat's son in the movie.
24:51 A reference to the son.
24:52 Is it Ollie?
24:53 Is that his name?
24:55 Yeah.
24:55 Matt Pat's son in there doesn't have
24:58 to be a big part obviously, but interesting.
25:04 Matt goes through a portal to a different universe like the FNAF universe,
25:08 but at the end of the film, Freddy appears,
25:11 revealing they were in the FNAF universe all along.
25:14 Interesting.
25:15 Interesting.
25:15 Interesting.
25:16 Okay.
25:17 What are some other theories or some other game tropes that maybe
25:20 Curtis and I don't know about that are like across the internet?
25:23 Like what's the point?
25:25 Steph is revealed to be the one controlling Matt's character.
25:28 Oh yes,
25:30 guys.
25:30 Okay, that's that's really sick.
25:32 That's really sick.
25:33 I like that.
25:36 There could definitely be a moment there where like
25:38 he's in he's gotten like trapped inside a game somehow.
25:42 We have to figure that how how like the beginning starts.
25:45 But it's like he starts being like controlled.
25:48 Yeah.
25:48 See physically um people saying Steph controls Matt Pad in the game.
25:52 Okay, that's so interesting.
25:57 That's great.
25:57 It is great.
26:01 Okay, here we go.
26:02 Uh JTW Therap, sorry if I butchered your name.
26:07 MattPad gets himself thrown into a version of the back rooms where all
26:11 of the levels are based off his past
26:13 theories and must escape before it's too late.
26:16 That's sick.
26:17 Okay.
26:17 So, if we were to do something like that, guys,
26:20 I think it'd be cool if I'm I'm just imagining this, like Matt Pat's retired.
26:29 Yeah.
26:28 He's It's like It's like what his life is like right now.
26:32 He He plays games, but casually.
26:34 And I'm sure he like always gets sent games, right?
26:37 He always gets sent games.
26:38 It's like something he's I'm sure like
26:40 people Yeah.
26:40 People always send him games.
26:41 Try this one out.
26:42 Try this one out.
26:42 Indie horror games.
26:43 Yeah.
26:43 Indie horror games.
26:44 And what if it's like there's this one game wrapped in an envelope and it's kind
26:51 of like the ultimate horror game where it's like
26:54 the the he doesn't know it yet at least,
26:57 but it's like every single horror game trope wrapped in like
27:02 one game and if he plays it and defeats it,
27:07 there's something there.
27:08 Yeah.
27:08 I also think it's really cool to have it like to be this like old school lofi
27:12 game that it's like so he can physically hold it and set up like it's a console.
27:16 Yeah.
27:16 Like a cartrol like a specific console for this thing
27:20 that got sent to him in the mail.
27:22 Mhm.
27:23 That's good.
27:25 Just going to write that on my typewriter real quick.
27:29 If you're just joining,
27:30 we're writing a short film about uh what
27:32 we're going to be collaborating with MattPad on.
27:35 And at the end of this call, we're going to Matt Pat's going to join us.
27:38 We're going to call MattPat and tell him your ideas,
27:40 so they better be good, guys.
27:42 All right, what else we got?
27:44 Do you guys like that idea we just shared?
27:49 His soul gets trapped in the game.
27:52 His soul gets trapped in the game.
27:54 Try not to keep it live so we can
27:57 Yeah,
27:58 basically gets trapped in the game like Jamanji.
28:01 Yep.
28:01 Similar, but we'll do our special take on it.
28:04 We're not going to copy Jamanji.
28:07 Um, but yeah, we like this guys.
28:09 Okay.
28:11 What if the game console was sent to him with the game?
28:14 Interesting.
28:16 Yeah.
28:15 In the game.
28:17 In the game, all his theories are real.
28:20 So, like what if and and maybe a bit of conflict is like he wants he's
28:26 so curious about this game even though he's
28:27 been sent a billion different indie horror games before.
28:30 It's like there's something about this game that's just calling him to play it.
28:34 And maybe Steph is like don't don't worry, you don't need to play it.
28:37 Even cuz like he retired, right?
28:39 He's retired.
28:39 He doesn't need he doesn't need to test these games.
28:41 He doesn't need to anymore, but he just still loves he loves the game.
28:45 He he loves he's cur he's curious at heart.
28:49 And then maybe Steph is like um telling him not to play for some reason.
28:59 Yeah.
28:59 Yeah.
29:03 All right.
29:04 Can I share my idea for the intro?
29:08 Yeah.
29:07 Okay.
29:07 So, this is what I'm thinking.
29:09 This is how we can start it off feeling like a bit
29:12 of a FNAF spin-off or a little homage to FNAF without actually being it.
29:20 What if it starts with him as Sans not Ness
29:24 in the diner but he's like the film opens with him like
29:28 throwing something in the dumpster behind the diner and you're like what?
29:32 He opens the diner.
29:33 He opens the dumpster and you get that awesome like
29:36 Tarantino trunk shot from inside the dumpster and he spots something
29:41 and it's like an animatronic mascot.
29:45 Mhm.
29:45 For that diner.
29:48 Mhm.
29:47 And the eyes like turn to him and he freaks out straight away.
29:50 Like it opens like that.
29:52 He looks again and it's like it's not alive.
29:56 So now he's freaking out and he goes back
29:59 into the diner and and he's doing his job,
30:01 taking orders, and then things start to glitch.
30:04 He's noticing like, you know, like someone's drinking water,
30:09 but it it's not like the hand's not holding it.
30:11 It's like a video game glitch.
30:12 Like,
30:15 yeah,
30:14 like someone cutting like pancakes and the pancakes just never disappear.
30:18 Are we liking this, guys?
30:19 Are we liking this?
30:21 Tell us what you think.
30:21 This is just what I'm thinking for a setup, like a good intro.
30:24 And then he's noticing all these glitches until finally
30:29 we reveal we do a a slow push out.
30:33 He was saying something like this.
30:34 I had an idea like you think this is the real world.
30:38 He's actually at a diner, but then you slowly pull out like the frame
30:42 is slowly you slowly pull out to reveal like
30:45 there's like a border around what you're seeing
30:46 and it's like oh this is this like a TV.
30:48 The pixels start to show up.
30:50 Pixels start to form.
30:51 getting really lowfi and then all of a sudden you realize,
30:53 oh, this is a video game and matt in the game.
30:56 Mattad's trapped inside the video game
30:59 and then cut to like 2 days earlier or a day earlier.
31:03 Keep cooking.
31:04 You're liking this.
31:04 Okay, tell us if you're liking this.
31:06 We don't want to get too far ahead of you guys,
31:07 but we're just taking your ideas and and fleshing them out like we love to do.
31:12 All right, so now it goes.
31:14 We we've pulled out.
31:15 It's like this super scary ominous pull out and then we cut
31:19 and and also it pulls out and it shows this this console controller.
31:23 This controller controller and it's like the controls are moving
31:26 to like an old console.
31:27 Yeah, that's good.
31:28 The the buttons are moving like what?
31:30 Who's controlling this?
31:32 And then flash cut.
31:33 Boom.
31:34 Flash two.
31:35 Sorry.
31:35 Match cut.
31:36 Match cut.
31:37 Two days earlier.
31:38 The TV screen's off but the console's still there.
31:43 Yeah.
31:42 And Mat walks into the room.
31:44 Yeah.
31:45 So, it's like, wait, he he is trapped in the game,
31:48 but not like he wasn't two days ago.
31:50 So, there's a bit of curiosity.
31:52 So, now you're like, wait,
31:54 he Okay, so this was two days ago before he got trapped into the game.
31:57 How did he get trapped into the game?
31:59 I'm saying let him, guys.
32:01 I want to cook with you.
32:03 Okay,
32:02 you're in the kitchen with us.
32:04 I'll I'll stop here, but I'll just say the last thing.
32:07 Um, now we know
32:09 someone said, sorry, free guy crosses with Jumanji crosses with Wet Ralph.
32:13 kind of
32:14 nice.
32:15 We like this.
32:16 Um, so now we're we've set up this sick intro.
32:20 Matad's about to be stuck in a game and he doesn't know it yet,
32:23 but he's walking into the room with this new console on his desk.
32:26 And what happens next?
32:28 How does he How does he get in there?
32:29 How does he get into the game?
32:32 Yeah.
32:32 What?
32:32 Wait, let's just see.
32:33 Do Do you guys like this idea?
32:35 Is this a good opener?
32:36 This is a killer idea.
32:36 Make it where he's the main He isn't the main character, though.
32:39 He's an NPC who gains consciousness after something happens.
32:43 Then your horror element is the system trying to keep him in.
32:46 Interesting.
32:47 Interesting.
32:47 Interesting.
32:48 Write that down.
32:49 Maybe
32:49 Matt P.
32:50 Yeah, that's a good that's a good suggestion.
32:52 Um, there is like merit to like him being like
32:55 challenged to take on this game as the main character.
32:58 But I do like that idea.
33:00 Like that NPC thing just coming to life is really cool.
33:05 Night Pat becomes a puppet to Steph and then he tries to exit the game,
33:09 but he gets taken and realized he can never escape.
33:11 All right.
33:12 All right.
33:12 Well, if we're going to if we're going to go through
33:13 this like he's he has to beat these levels of a game,
33:17 it should feel like this is like what his whole career is like um culminated to.
33:22 Like he's he's done the work for the past
33:24 10 years to like know every single theory
33:26 and every single nook and cranny of these type
33:29 of indie horror games that he should not be like
33:32 he's he's not phased by any of these tropes and and can
33:35 there possibly be a game that he already hasn't figured out, you know?
33:40 Well, if that's the case,
33:42 I think we we're not the most well-versed in horror game tropes.
33:48 So, what about you guys start if you guys know this very well,
33:51 tell us like what are the the most common cliche horror game tropes?
33:58 Yeah.
33:58 That Matt specifically would know exactly how to deal
34:01 with then we can kind of build out this story.
34:05 Like horror game tropes.
34:06 We need to create a list.
34:08 Okay.
34:09 horror game tropes and it's like the cliche ones.
34:13 Like, let's actually go cliche here.
34:15 Um, okay.
34:16 Let's see if I got this uh respawn mechanic.
34:25 Not sure what that is.
34:27 Just like the fact that you can respawn.
34:30 Yeah.
34:31 Yeah.
34:31 Respawning.
34:34 Um, boss is the bad guy.
34:37 Uh, let's go even more like detailed tropes like think of specific horror games.
34:42 Maybe Matt has played jump scares.
34:44 Audio cues, right?
34:45 Audio cue.
34:46 That's good.
34:48 Yep.
34:48 Audio cue.
34:51 Yeah.
34:51 It's like a horror comedy.
34:53 I mean, maybe not fully like horror,
34:54 like scary visually, but like thriller mystery vibes.
34:59 Yeah.
34:58 But it's meant to more Yeah.
34:59 Like more comedy, but with horror elements in there.
35:04 Stuff him in an animatronic suit at the end.
35:07 Yeah.
35:08 No, let's just stick to the tropes.
35:10 Tropes.
35:11 Small noise.
35:11 What are the cliche things you see in every horror game?
35:14 Small noise.
35:15 Turns out it was nothing.
35:16 Was a random animal.
35:18 Object.
35:18 Dramatic sigh.
35:19 And then jump scare.
35:21 Okay.
35:21 Small noise.
35:23 Nothing.
35:24 Jump scare.
35:26 Nice.
35:30 Closing your eyes so monsters disappear.
35:32 Oh yeah.
35:34 Closing.
35:34 If you're just joining us, we're looking for tropes,
35:36 like horror game tropes to uh reference in the script.
35:40 Someone said, "What if it's an AI game
35:42 and the film emphasizes the value of human creation?" Interesting.
35:46 He has to fight an evil version of himself to win and get out of the game.
35:49 That's kind of cool.
35:53 Horror game tropes.
35:54 Yeah, more tropes.
35:55 A maze filled with monsters.
35:58 Invisible barriers.
35:59 This is great, guys.
36:00 Oh, yes.
36:01 Invisible barriers is
36:02 Morse code.
36:03 Morse code.
36:04 Oh yeah,
36:05 write that down.
36:05 It's a good reference.
36:09 Lightning.
36:12 Lightning.
36:10 Thunders scared cat.
36:15 Character hides next to monster and monster doesn't notice.
36:21 Yeah.
36:21 Hiding next to monster.
36:24 Cut away scenes that lead to one thing then to another
36:27 and then most of the time is important to the plot.
36:34 Horror game tropes is what we're looking for.
36:35 Looking behind Wait,
36:37 holding breath to make sure you don't get caught.
36:39 Samuel says, "Looking behind you,
36:41 there's nothing." And then you turn back around and there's something.
36:44 Oh, yeah.
36:45 We need more more of that stuff, guys.
36:46 This is great.
36:47 This is great.
36:48 A second look.
36:50 Horror game cliches is what we're after.
36:54 Getting stuck on random objects.
36:56 The light suddenly going out.
36:58 Oh, yes.
37:00 light suddenly going out and you have to use a torch like a flashlight.
37:06 Matt's joining us in a second.
37:07 I mean, not in a second, but at the end of the stream,
37:09 we're going to call him and pitch him these ideas.
37:11 See which ones he likes the most.
37:16 Landon says, "Guys, this is looking great.
37:18 We're all cooking." It's true.
37:19 We are cooking.
37:20 I'm literally writing the script now.
37:22 I knew this stick on this type this stick room
37:24 was going to work cuz you guys are so smart.
37:26 I've written so much stuff here.
37:28 Okay.
37:28 Running out of stam stamina when running.
37:31 Oh yes.
37:31 Running out of stamina.
37:35 Like stamina running out.
37:39 A Seth Williamson cameo.
37:45 Um if you guys are just joining us, we're writing.
37:50 We're in the writer room.
37:52 We're working on the Matt Pat collab film
37:54 that we're going to be shooting with him very soon.
37:56 and we want to reference a lot of horror game tropes in the story.
38:00 Basically, what we have so far is Matt Pat gets sucked
38:03 into a game somehow and he has to beat the levels to get out.
38:07 But because he knows so well how to do this, he's like
38:11 spent 10 years of his life like playing these indie horror games
38:15 studying these games and come with theories about what they mean and how to be.
38:18 He has to use all his knowledge to get out.
38:21 I like this.
38:21 The security camera room is like a a trope like that an important
38:26 Yeah.
38:26 security camera room.
38:27 That's cool.
38:33 Matt gets kidnapped by the big companies
38:35 for revealing too much of their secrets.
38:38 Breaking the third wall at the end of the film.
38:42 Missing a sign.
38:43 Uh missing an important sign.
38:47 This is like the craziest brainstorm.
38:49 This is hundreds of people helping us with this brainstorm.
38:52 It's so OP to do this all with you live and just sick ideas.
38:56 He's right behind me, isn't he?
39:00 Yep.
39:00 Second look type thing.
39:02 Right behind.
39:07 Okay, these are good.
39:08 Maybe we could have like based off locations what the tropes are.
39:12 Yeah.
39:13 Yeah.
39:13 Yeah.
39:13 Okay.
39:13 So,
39:15 so if we had a certain set, like for example, if we had a warehouse set,
39:19 maybe we can think about tropes specific to like a warehouse game.
39:24 Is there like a game, like a horror game that's like set in a warehouse
39:26 or at least has a level or a stage in a warehouse?
39:30 We can start with that and then see what tropes we can bring into that.
39:35 Horror game tropes set in a warehouse.
39:37 Let's see what you guys have.
39:38 What do you guys have?
39:40 Scary uh random scary NPCs that don't move.
39:43 That's good.
39:44 Cool.
39:45 Having a flashlight.
39:47 Yeah,
39:47 I think that's great.

39:58 I'm writing it down.
40:00 Um, so puzzles.
40:02 Is that for the warehouse or that's just like tropes?
40:04 I put that in tropes.
40:06 Puzzles.
40:08 What else happens in a warehouse in horror games?
40:12 Conveyor belt turns on randomly.
40:16 Machinery.
40:17 Machinery.
40:17 Machinery randomly turning on.
40:19 Matt Pat tries to call the police but thinks he's
40:21 going insane and needs to be put in a mental institution.
40:24 Forklift chase scene.
40:26 Are these like tropes or you guys coming up with new ideas?
40:28 They're coming up with scenes.
40:30 Creepy mannequins.
40:31 Everyone's saying creepy mannequins.
40:33 That's That's pretty good.
40:34 Generate mannequins.
40:36 mannequins.

40:40 that occur in a a warehouse warehouse location.
40:45 Things dropping hide and seek.
40:49 I like the flashlight.
40:50 Yeah, the flashlight.
40:51 I mean, that's such a like a trope.
40:52 They're like, of course, there's a flashlight
40:54 in this level and I have to get out.
40:56 That's funny.
40:58 Zombies
41:01 opening a jaw during a calm environment only
41:03 for a creature to be right there staring face to face.
41:08 Dust.
41:08 Lots of dust.
41:11 Dust.
41:11 Everyone's saying backrooms.
41:12 Maybe we can give off that vibe of like the back.
41:14 Back rooms vibe.
41:16 Okay.
41:17 Lights flickering.
41:24 Keys that don't work.
41:26 That's interesting.
41:26 Is that a warehouse?
41:27 Is that a trope, guys?
41:28 Tell us.
41:28 We're We're not
41:29 I think that we're not That sounds like a trope.
41:31 Most common gamer.
41:32 It does sound like a trope.
41:33 It sounds like a trope to us.
41:35 Let's write it down.
41:35 Okay.
41:36 That don't work.
41:37 I like it.
41:38 Chains swinging loudly.
41:41 Jump scares.

41:48 How about we go uh what's an inventory?
41:51 Oh, like Yeah.
41:52 Yeah, I know what you mean.
41:53 The thing you have in the things you can use.
41:56 Okay.
41:56 What about if we had like a good idea though,
41:59 new location?
42:00 Reset your brains, chat.
42:01 New location.
42:03 Okay.
42:03 If we had like a daycare set,
42:05 like as one of the levels is like a daycare.
42:07 What are like tropes that always happen in a video game that has a daycare?
42:13 The scariest thing I've seen in a daycare is Toy Story 3.
42:17 That is a scary movie.
42:20 So, what what happens in daycarees in these like kind of horror games?
42:25 Um, Matt Pat needs to hide in a locker.
42:29 Interesting.
42:32 I think that's more um actually I don't know.
42:37 Write it over here.
42:39 Stick around because Matt Patad's going to be joining us very very soon.
42:42 Very soon.
42:46 Creepy child walking in the in on the ceiling.
42:50 Whoa.
42:50 Toys going off randomly.
42:52 Is that very common in these games?
42:54 Tell us.
42:56 Toys.
42:56 Ball pit jump scare.
42:58 Oh, we got to write fast
42:59 randomly.
43:00 Yeah.
43:01 Crazy nanny.
43:04 Time traveling ball pit.
43:06 Imagine he wakes up from like he enters this daycare world from a ball pit.
43:12 Oh, that's
43:13 that's kind of cool.
43:14 Waking spawning.
43:17 Spawning in a ball.
43:18 Spawning in a ball pit.
43:19 That's great.
43:20 Creepy dolls that come alive.
43:22 Baby with a spinning head.
43:23 Oh, yeah.
43:24 Classic.
43:25 I know that one.
43:26 Yeah, that's like a horror movie trope, I guess.
43:28 Dolls turning head.
43:30 Mascot type characters that move offcreen only.
43:35 Oh, yeah.
43:36 It's like Toy Story.
43:37 Yeah.
43:37 And you can hear sounds of like kids laughing and crying, I guess.
43:40 Mascot like toys.
43:42 Yep.
43:43 Press shift off screen.
43:45 Press shift to spint written in graffiti.
43:49 Blood on the walls.
43:51 Oh, giant rules on the on the walls.
43:56 Yeah.
43:54 A giant monster plushy that first sits
43:59 then it stands up with a fleshy mouth.
44:02 Yeah.
44:02 So, like these these toys moving is the main trope there.
44:05 All right.
44:06 What What about another location?
44:08 Wait, one more thing.
44:08 The cry of a baby, but there's no baby.
44:11 Oh, that's good.
44:12 It's good.
44:12 Baby cry.
44:14 No baby.
44:16 There's a clown.
44:16 A clown in the daycare.
44:18 But no, baby.
44:20 Shadows moving in the corner of your eyes.
44:23 Clown.
44:23 Yeah, they're saying you definitely need a ball pit scene.
44:25 All right, we're going to tick that ball pit scene.
44:27 We will put a ball pit scene.
44:28 Ball pit sounds like it needs to be in there.
44:30 All right.
44:30 Uh, another location.
44:32 K.
44:32 What else?
44:32 Like a a jail scene.
44:35 A jail.
44:36 Something in like a in
44:37 like a prison.
44:38 Like a prison.
44:39 Okay.
44:39 If there was a prison, let's reset our brains.
44:42 No more daycare.
44:43 If there was a prison location,
44:44 what are some tropes that happen in prison
44:46 games or games that have prison uh sets?
44:54 People are saying hotel and forest at night.
44:56 Maybe those are some other good levels.
44:59 Forest at night.
45:02 Yeah, that's great.
45:02 Writing it down right now.
45:04 Um, okay.
45:05 What's What's the tropes for a prison?
45:07 like walking through like an insane asylum
45:09 type prison or like a an abandoned prison.
45:15 Uh,
45:17 wait.
45:16 Broken bars.
45:17 Like someone's broke.
45:18 They've broken out.
45:19 Oh yeah, someone's broken out.
45:20 That's good.
45:21 Broken bars.
45:24 Abandoned prison for sure.
45:26 Uh, creepy music.
45:28 Um, in the on the loudspeaker.
45:32 Yeah.
45:37 Jail room with blood and skulls.
45:39 Dang.
45:40 Scary.
45:42 Scary.
45:42 Uh, jail escape.
45:43 Screaming in the distance.
45:44 Inmate ghosts.
45:47 Acid melts.
45:48 Is that like you walk past a cell, you see someone there.
45:52 You walk back, but there was no one there.
45:54 Mhm.
45:55 I think like this
45:58 some creepy janitor.
45:59 That's interesting.
46:00 Oh, yeah.
46:00 I'll say disappearing inmates.
46:02 Um, creepy janitor.
46:05 Guys, you're literally like giving us ideas
46:07 that could very well end in this film.
46:10 Like, and you'll know when you watch it that that was your idea.
46:12 That was your idea.
46:13 That's the fun part about this.
46:14 That's crazy.
46:14 Okay.
46:18 Um, any other prison things?
46:20 I think that's good.
46:21 We're so close to calling Matt.
46:23 Are we ready yet or not yet?
46:24 Not yet.
46:27 Okay.
46:30 We're we're about to call Matt.
46:31 So, make sure you don't leave because any minute now
46:33 we're going to call him and we're going to pitch
46:36 all these ideas to him and kind of give him
46:39 the script and just and I'm nearly done writing the script.
46:43 We could just read the script out like that.
46:47 All right.
46:48 If you're if you're just joining us, we're writing with you.
46:52 Um we're writing the Matt Pat collab short film
46:55 that we promised in our video surprise with him.
46:59 When we surprised him with his own movie trailer, we said as the proposition,
47:03 if we put your name in the credits of the Mr.
47:04 Beast movie, will you star in a a v sorry a short film
47:09 when we hit when we hit 1 million?
47:12 Yep.
47:11 And guess what?
47:12 You guys unlocked it.
47:13 You got us to 1 mil.
47:14 He said yes.
47:16 Now we're finally doing it.
47:17 We're finally writing it.
47:20 So, and if you know any theorists, any MattPat fans,
47:25 now's the time to send them the link
47:27 to the chat because we're about to call Matt Pat.
47:29 We're getting all your ideas and we're going to put them into this film.
47:32 What have we got so far?
47:33 We've got So, we've kind of got this idea
47:35 of like Matt getting sucked into a game.
47:40 Yeah.
47:39 And basically he he has to try and use his knowledge of game theory and all
47:47 the years of playing these indie horror games to make his way out of the game.
47:52 But we start what you think is like the FNAF universe,
47:55 but it's actually just an alternate universe that is pretty similar.
47:59 Yeah.
47:59 And is instead of him being Ness working
48:01 in a diner like from the FNAF movie, he's Sans.
48:06 Yeah.
48:05 And he finds out he's trapped in a game.
48:07 This is all stuff coming from you guys.
48:10 Finds out he's trapped in a game and now he
48:12 has to work out through the levels to get out.
48:15 So like that diner scene is that's just like a almost like a menu.
48:19 Like it's not that the menu screen.
48:21 It's nothing.
48:21 It's not the main.
48:23 It's not him like trying to beat a huge level.
48:25 It's just like a quick little section.
48:29 Sick.
48:28 Okay.
48:28 Any other location ideas?
48:30 The location we're trying to like figure out
48:32 right now is if we had a prison set.
48:33 What are some horror game tropes that take place in a prison set?
48:37 Ash is saying ripped jumpsuits scattered.
48:40 That's cool.
48:41 RIP broken bars, ripped jumpsuits, and like straight jackets.
48:46 On screen says press shift to run, but Matt Pat does not see it.
48:55 That's good.
48:56 Ripped ripped like prison wear.
48:58 Um,
49:04 jail nurse trying to sedate the prisoner.
49:06 Interesting.
49:06 A jail nurse.
49:09 Skulls.
49:08 Okay, let's do next location.
49:10 That's good for prison.
49:12 Rust.
49:12 Lots of rust.
49:13 Okay.
49:13 Do we have any other location ideas?
49:16 Like, um, what do you what do you think, chat?
49:18 What's like a a classic horror game location that like it's oh my gosh,
49:23 it always takes place at this one place.
49:25 And it's like if you like of course Matt
49:28 would know exactly how to get out of this situation.
49:33 Let's see what chat says about that.
49:35 A long hallway.
49:39 Write that down as an option.
49:40 Write that down.
49:42 Long hallway.
49:43 I like the like back rooms kind of like glitching.
49:47 They're saying forest at night.
49:48 Forest at night.
49:49 That's like you know Slender Man.
49:53 Yep.
49:52 Mansion.
49:52 Old house.
49:53 Forest.
49:54 Yeah.
49:54 I think we definitely have to have a forest
49:56 level in there or like a reference to the forest trope.
50:01 Cemetery, hotels that repeat forever.
50:05 Yeah, I like that idea of like repeating like rooms that are just repeating.
50:10 Yeah.
50:11 Um, what else?
50:13 Empty hospital.
50:14 Maybe a hospital set.
50:15 Oo, a hospital set.
50:16 Okay,
50:20 hospital.
50:19 These are great ideas, guys.
50:21 You are You guys are great in this strategy.
50:23 Don't be shocked, Kurt.
50:24 No, I was never shocked.
50:26 Yeah, you sounded shocked.
50:27 No, I wasn't shocked.
50:29 All right.
50:29 What happens in a hospital in horror game tropes?
50:32 I've been through an escape room.
50:33 That's probably my closest thing to a hospital.
50:36 Yeah.
50:36 And it was like a hospital set.
50:37 It was so scary.
50:39 So, what are some hospital uh type tropes for haunted for horror games?
50:47 Um things that can take place in a hospital like a hospital room.
50:56 Let's see what they say.
51:04 Screaming of past patients.
51:08 Screaming patients.
51:10 Red lights happening happening in a hospital.
51:12 Insane asylum.
51:16 Yeah.
51:16 Like, so what are some things that like that happen?
51:19 Like how do you get out of hospital?
51:20 What are some things you see?
51:21 Like how do you get Yeah.
51:23 or like if you have to escape from it like what what is like a
51:27 a tool or something that always is like oh
51:29 you have to do this in hospital hospital beds in the middle of the hallway.
51:33 Surgery tools with blood.
51:35 That's cool.
51:37 Needles.
51:39 Flatline sound in the background.
51:41 That's cool.
51:43 Nice.
51:43 This is great, guys.
51:44 flatline sound like someone's dead in the other room kind of thing.
51:52 Sorry.
51:55 Um, okay.
51:56 What else?
51:57 Yeah, like a super empty and quiet flashing lights, broken monitors.
52:09 Yeah, like broken equipment.
52:14 IV in the arm that has to be removed.
52:17 Oh, like so when he spawns, he should spawn into the bed with an IV drip.
52:22 He has to try and get it out.
52:23 He should have diet coke.
52:25 He He said
52:26 diet coke IV.
52:27 He's like, I want a diet coke IV drip.
52:29 Write that down.
52:32 Diet
52:32 I got a typewriter in case spawns with a Diet Coke IV drip.
52:38 We're writing down all your ideas.
52:40 So, don't do not feel like
52:41 do not feel left out.
52:43 You guys are involved in writing this script.
52:45 It's There's an exit, but it's not an exit.
52:50 Wheelchair creaking and seeing it like a shadow in the corner of the eye.
52:54 That's cool.
52:57 All right.
52:58 Any other sets before we kind of pitch this thing to to Matt?
53:03 Is there anything else that we
53:05 um
53:05 I mean we definitely have to do the forest like a like a flashlight in the
53:09 That's good.
53:09 We got like a warehouse or a daycare,
53:12 a prison, a hospital, and maybe a forest.
53:16 Yeah.
53:16 Um and we could probably do something with like hallways, long hallways.
53:20 Um guys, thank you so much.
53:22 This is so helpful.
53:23 I feel I'm feeling pretty confident to tell this to Matt now.
53:26 Feeling great.
53:26 All right.
53:27 What is like a way what are some things that could like
53:30 that Matt Pat could do for like the finale of this film?
53:34 Like what's the the the final boss final boss the final level
53:37 like out of all of Matt Pat's like games he's ever
53:40 played like what's the one thing he's never been able to defeat?
53:43 Yeah, that's cool.
53:44 He's never been able to defeat.
53:45 I don't know.
53:45 We don't know.
53:46 So you let us know.
53:54 Matt Pat gets attacked by the physical manifestation of his Diet Coke addiction.
54:02 Um, abandoned suburbs.
54:04 It's a cool um setting.
54:08 Yeah,
54:07 abandoned office.
54:15 He has to fight his own inner demons.
54:18 He has to fight the theorist hosts.
54:20 His own theories.
54:23 Like the final, let's keep spitballing, guys.
54:25 There's no bad ideas.
54:27 Like
54:27 the final battle is like his own
54:28 unfinished theories or like his own unproven theories.
54:31 Sorry.
54:32 What's the biggest unproven theory?
54:34 Is it Sans's nest?
54:36 Well, that's interesting cuz his name is Sans in the in the beginning.
54:40 That is interesting.
54:43 A glitchy website comes to life.
54:44 Always using different forms.
54:46 Something game.
54:49 This is great.
54:50 This is great.
54:53 Matt Pat realizes his whole life was a theory.
54:56 My goodness.
54:58 I feel like we're looking down so much.
54:59 I'm like, look at you guys.
55:00 Looking at the chat.
55:04 Um,
55:03 he has to fight Scott Corin.
55:06 The final boss is Scott.
55:08 Scott Corin.
55:11 But if you're just joining us,
55:12 we're trying to think of what's the finale of this this film.
55:15 Like what's the final battle about?
55:19 Matt Pad is purple guy.
55:21 Do you know what purple guy?
55:22 What's purple guy?
55:24 If Matt Pat's gonna watch this, he's going to be like,
55:27 "You don't know purple guy?" Purple guy.
55:29 We don't know purple guy.
55:30 Maybe back when we researched his whole life, we would have known uh Bigfoot.
55:43 Endless staircase running down them being chased.
55:46 Interesting.
55:47 Very interesting.
55:48 Steph is the final bus.
55:51 Steph is the final bosses.
55:54 Interesting.
55:55 This is interesting.
55:57 Last couple ideas before we call Matt.
56:00 Yeah, we're about to call Matt, guys.
56:02 And I think we have enough ideas.
56:04 Definitely.
56:04 I've written I've written a whole script here.
56:16 He had to sacrifice his memories of game theory to survive in the end.
56:22 He has to sacrifice his memory of of his whole game theory career.
56:26 Maybe he has to like lay down his the theories that he was most stubborn about.
56:32 Yeah.
56:31 To like come out.
56:32 That's interesting.
56:33 Yeah.
56:34 Um, the angry commenters are the final boss.
56:40 Endless moments of his life to present day.
56:43 Something with his whole FNAF.
56:45 Gregory being an animatron cry kit.
56:50 A Diet Coke meter or Diet Coke bar.
56:54 Interesting.
56:55 I think something that's more like Yeah.
56:58 What are some of the theories that
57:01 like Santa's now?
57:02 What would that be most scared of?
57:04 If he's trying to like face his Yeah.
57:07 What's a theory that he had that freaked him out?
57:12 And like it would be fun to put him in that scenario.
57:18 Yeah.
57:21 An evil clone of himself.
57:22 A lot of people are saying like a clone of himself, which is interesting.
57:24 Write that down.
57:27 Evil clone.
57:29 I mean, that is a trope.
57:30 The typewriter game is on point.
57:32 Thanks, guys.
57:33 Got an actual typewriter here.
57:35 Been writing the script for the short film.
57:36 It's almost done.
57:37 He's brainstorming.
57:38 I'm writing an actual script.
57:40 Yeah.
57:40 Golden Freddy.
57:42 Robot Gregory theory.
57:44 Robot Gregory theory.
57:47 How do we do that without actually touching the FNAF
57:52 world though?
57:53 We need to We need to like steer clear.
57:56 It ends up It ends with him curled up
57:58 in a bowl in front of a whiteboard full of theories.
58:03 Imagine he went to like a room with all of his theories displayed somehow.
58:10 Interesting.
58:10 Door Dash theory.
58:12 Okay, I think we've got I think we've got some good stuff here.
58:15 I'm I'm really happy with what Should we recap and then we'll call.
58:19 All right, we're going to recap your ideas and then we're going to call Matt.
58:22 and we're going to call Matt and present them to him.
58:26 This is wild, guys.
58:27 There's a lot.
58:27 I mean, we could just kind of
58:29 We could just call him.
58:30 Yeah, we could just call him.
58:30 Should we just call him and recap it on the stream?
58:32 Are you guys ready?
58:33 Who's ready for Matt?
58:35 Who's ready for Matt?
58:35 Put W's in the chat and Matt will come out.
58:40 W's in the chat if you're ready.
58:41 I think we're feeling good about this.
58:56 And the fun thing is I think Matt Pat will be he'll be
59:01 riff riffing off these ideas and he'll probably give us some like really good
59:04 Oh, 100%.
59:04 It's really good ideas.
59:06 Yeah.
59:06 What would Matt What's Matt's take on all this?
59:11 All right.
59:12 Are you guys ready?
59:14 Are you guys ready?
59:15 I think there's a drum roll in here.
59:16 Ready?
59:16 It's going to be very loud, I think.
59:18 Just do it anyways.
59:21 That doesn't work.
59:22 That doesn't work.
59:23 Oh, there it is.
59:24 Are you guys ready?
59:26 We're going to call him and and pitch him our ideas.
59:29 Are you guys ready?
59:32 Imagine it's just the Matt Pat doppelganger that we got.
59:35 It's like some people in the in the chat
59:37 just like they don't actually have Matt Pat, do they?
59:40 We're going to call him now.
59:40 All right.
59:41 Now, if you're if you're here,
59:42 you can request to join and we'll we'll get you in if you're in Riverside.
59:51 Close that.
59:53 Oh, yes.
59:53 I see you chat clip this.
1:00:07 Okay, we are about to get Matt on the stream to present these ideas to him.
1:00:27 Let's see if we can get him in one.
1:00:29 One moment.
1:00:30 There he is.
1:00:31 Okay.
1:00:32 Okay, here he is.
1:00:33 Are you guys ready?
1:00:37 Hello.
1:00:37 Hello.
1:00:40 Hello.
1:00:39 There he is.
1:00:40 Hey, Matt.
1:00:41 How you doing?
1:00:42 Good to see you.
1:00:42 I'm doing well.
1:00:44 I I see that beautiful face behind you in the background.
1:00:47 Yeah.
1:00:47 Do you know this guy?
1:00:48 It's been our inspiration for our whole sticks writing room.
1:00:51 So,
1:00:52 really, that is that is very little to draw from in terms of insp.
1:01:03 Can you guys hear him?
1:01:04 Well, I just want to make sure.
1:01:05 Yeah.
1:01:05 Let's hear Let's see if you guys can hear Matt.
1:01:07 Looks good.
1:01:08 All right.
1:01:09 Cool.
1:01:10 All right.
1:01:11 So, we've been we've been writing with our with our audience
1:01:14 and we've got we've got some ideas cooking.
1:01:18 So, but first of all, thanks so much for being down to do this and and
1:01:22 we're so excited to do this short film with you.
1:01:23 It's going to be awesome.
1:01:24 Hey, I I made a promise to you guys
1:01:25 and I'm I'm eager to deliver on that promise.
1:01:29 You're the best.
1:01:29 It's been so long and we finally hit a million.
1:01:32 We did the double handshake and everything.
1:01:34 I know.
1:01:34 You don't just cross and do the double handshake for nothing.
1:01:38 Exactly.
1:01:38 That's exactly right.
1:01:39 If you're going to do it,
1:01:39 you're going to What have you been up to this like since then?
1:01:42 Since Oh, since uh since that video, uh let me think.
1:01:46 Um a a lot.
1:01:47 I've gotten a lot more sleep than I did back then.
1:01:49 That's great.
1:01:50 Um I've been practicing positive self-care.
1:01:54 That's a win.
1:01:56 You know, undoing the damage that I did
1:01:58 to my body over the last 13 years of YouTube.
1:02:00 That's been nice.
1:02:01 Um, so that's good.
1:02:03 Uh, but other stuff, uh, we, uh,
1:02:06 I helped host a fashion show with the theorist team.
1:02:09 They invited me back for that and that was a lot of fun.
1:02:11 Um, we, uh, spent the summer in Japan.
1:02:14 Uh, and I learned everything.
1:02:17 Not everything, but I learned a lot about Japanese.
1:02:19 Learned everything about Japan.
1:02:21 Yeah.
1:02:21 Learned everything about Japan in two months.
1:02:22 It was fantastic.
1:02:24 Yeah.
1:02:25 Me, an English-speaking guy with zero Japanese experience,
1:02:28 learned everything there was.
1:02:30 It was great.
1:02:31 Um, uh, spent some time in South Korea, too, as as part of that trip.
1:02:35 That was nice.
1:02:35 Awesome.
1:02:36 Um, we've been, uh, trying to, you know, uh,
1:02:40 teach Congress about the creator economy and and kind
1:02:44 of educate lawmakers about this world and why
1:02:47 it's important to protect and how we're all
1:02:50 small businesses and you don't want to, you know,
1:02:52 crush small businesses with sweeping legislation.
1:02:55 So, that's been uh rewarding and scary and frustrating and uh you know,
1:03:02 seeing how the sausage gets made is is educational in a lot of levels.
1:03:08 Um
1:03:08 and uh yeah, just getting to spend time
1:03:09 together as a as a family and choose interesting,
1:03:12 fun, creative projects has been great.
1:03:14 So, you know, this is this is this is kind of the next side quest, I guess.
1:03:18 Yeah.
1:03:18 I mean, we're honored that we're one of the choices.
1:03:20 So, it's awesome.
1:03:21 Super excited.
1:03:21 Yeah, of course.
1:03:22 I'm I'm excited for I'm excited to see what you guys have cooking up.
1:03:25 Yeah, we've got some we've got some really cool ideas.
1:03:27 I mean, the chat's been great.
1:03:28 We did not expect so many good ideas from the chat.
1:03:31 Thanks to the audience.
1:03:32 Way to underell the audience.
1:03:35 We didn't expect them to come up with anything.
1:03:38 We didn't realize other people have creative ideas.
1:03:40 I think because this is the first time,
1:03:42 this is the first time we've invited them into the writer room
1:03:45 and we realized the power that they have.
1:03:48 Actually writing on this typewriter.
1:03:49 I don't know if you've been watching, but we have an actual typewriter here.
1:03:52 No, I I I No, I've been blind.
1:03:53 I didn't want to like spoil anything.
1:03:55 Yeah, that's great.
1:03:57 You're You're writing on an old school type.
1:03:59 That's awesome.
1:03:59 We are Yeah, we almost finished the script.
1:04:01 I think it's the most efficient way to get this script done in
1:04:03 That's incredible.
1:04:04 You know, fun fun fact, I when I was applying to college,
1:04:07 I actually filled out my forms on an old school typewriter.
1:04:11 No way.
1:04:12 Wow.
1:04:12 Yeah.
1:04:12 I don't uh just because I mean back then there wasn't like
1:04:15 docu sign and stuff like that and so you had to like
1:04:18 hand print all the forms but I'm like oh I want
1:04:20 it to look like neat and professional and so I just kind
1:04:23 of had an old typewriter and not like old old but kind
1:04:27 of like a like a mid-tier type I feel like old all
1:04:29 typewriters are old but I would fill it out with that and it's
1:04:32 it's really satisfying to write on a typewriter it feels very
1:04:36 100% I know I mean I don't really know how it works at all
1:04:39 this will be our first short film that we've written on a typewriter.
1:04:42 So,
1:04:44 wow.
1:04:44 I I I appreciate that you're using old technology for an old YouTuber.
1:04:48 I think that's that's fitting.
1:04:49 Yeah.
1:04:49 Yeah, that's
1:04:50 we'll have to mail you the script physically.
1:04:52 We were both born in like 1947, so yeah, that that tracks.
1:04:57 Okay.
1:04:57 So, let us share some of these ideas that the chat cooked up with us.
1:05:01 Okay.
1:05:02 Here, let me let me strap in here
1:05:03 these these amazing and surprising ideas that have come up.
1:05:06 Yeah.
1:05:06 So, we started like blank blank page, blank canvas.
1:05:10 Yep.
1:05:10 and they just threw out some ideas.
1:05:11 So, we'll just run you through and then tell you where we kind
1:05:14 of landed as well or like what kind of things we were like massaging.
1:05:19 So, the first few ideas that were coming
1:05:21 out was like everyone wants a Steph cameo.
1:05:23 So, that's like
1:05:24 Steph cameo.
1:05:25 Okay.
1:05:26 Everyone wants a Steph cameo.
1:05:28 Some people want a Scott cameo, which is probably less likely.
1:05:32 I might I might have a better ability to do one versus the other.
1:05:38 Wonder which one that one is.
1:05:41 Okay, cool.
1:05:42 So, we either have Steph or Scott, whichever one show up.
1:05:45 I'll flip a coin and that'll determine who I reach out to.
1:05:50 Cool.
1:05:50 So, then we were just Okay, so broad movie.
1:05:54 We're talking about
1:05:55 she she gave us the thumbs up.
1:05:56 So, luck, guys.
1:05:59 We have Steph.
1:06:00 Thanks.
1:06:00 Thanks for the chat.
1:06:02 She She has a very intense rider, though.
1:06:04 So, she has she's very demanding on set.
1:06:07 Oh, that's fine.
1:06:08 We'll get her a full on trailer.
1:06:10 He's giving me hard time.
1:06:10 She's like, "Don't say that.
1:06:11 People will believe it." No,
1:06:14 she can very easy to get.
1:06:16 As long as you have tea on set, she's golden.
1:06:20 Perfect.
1:06:19 We'll make sure that's some tea.
1:06:21 Yeah.
1:06:22 Yeah.
1:06:21 All right.
1:06:22 So, we talked about some found footage ideas people threw out.
1:06:25 Matt Pat, Truman Show.
1:06:27 Um,
1:06:28 Truman Show is my favorite.
1:06:30 Yeah, Truman Show.
1:06:31 I love that movie.
1:06:32 Then someone said Matt Pat discovers he's a game character
1:06:37 and That's pretty interesting.
1:06:39 Yeah.
1:06:39 Like I'm like I'm actually existing in a game like Matri.
1:06:41 It's like Matrix but with video games.
1:06:44 Yeah.
1:06:44 It's like trapped inside the game.
1:06:46 That is fun.
1:06:46 No, that's that's cool.
1:06:48 Am I being used as a human bat?
1:06:49 No, I'm a human GPU powering the the definition of the graphics.
1:06:56 That's great.
1:06:57 Yep.
1:06:57 Um what else we got?
1:06:58 So then in in that same vein,
1:07:01 it's maybe someone is controlling you in the game
1:07:03 or has the ability to control you.
1:07:06 Okay.
1:07:06 Um,
1:07:07 and then someone kind of put pieces together and they they were thinking like,
1:07:10 what if Steph is controlling you in the game?
1:07:13 I mean, that's that's that's true in real life and in the game.
1:07:18 Ask her if she has any experience controlling you.
1:07:23 Sorry.
1:07:25 No,
1:07:24 she's off screen just like the puppet master behind the the scenes.
1:07:28 I'm a little marionette.
1:07:29 No, Steph is wonderful and I I love giving her a hard time.
1:07:32 I'm sorry I'm giving you such a hard time.
1:07:35 Yeah.
1:07:35 So, so that's like something interesting.
1:07:37 Like if you're a character in a game
1:07:39 and there's a controller that someone could pick up
1:07:41 or maybe Steph realizes it halfway through like it's
1:07:45 not the whole story is her controlling you, but like
1:07:48 the second half of like like the you know the third act is like
1:07:51 she comes in to save you and you're kind you're having to work together.
1:07:55 She thinks she can't do anything to help.
1:07:56 She realizes you're stuck.
1:07:58 Maybe she's talking you through the headset and then
1:08:01 oh man point at one point you're like trying to do something.
1:08:04 You have like a little disagreement and then your arm just like flails back.
1:08:08 You're like, "What's going on?" And then she's like,
1:08:10 "I think I can control you." Yeah, that's fun.
1:08:13 That's great.
1:08:13 That's really fun.
1:08:14 Oh, that's cool.
1:08:16 Yeah, like it is.
1:08:18 It's like Ratatouille.
1:08:19 Not trying to compare.
1:08:21 The epic crossover everyone always looked for.
1:08:23 Ratatouille and the Matrix.
1:08:25 It's great.
1:08:26 Yeah,
1:08:27 exactly.
1:08:28 Yeah.
1:08:27 Cool.
1:08:28 This is fun.
1:08:28 Okay, so here's an interesting idea.
1:08:31 Okay.
1:08:31 Um, someone said like we we obviously we're not doing the FNAF.
1:08:36 We can't like be in the FNAF universe.
1:08:39 Sure.
1:08:38 But maybe there's an alternate universe that looks awfully similar.
1:08:43 Similar and your character in FNAF was in the first movie was Ness, right?
1:08:49 Sure.
1:08:49 So, what if in this movie you start out as Sans?
1:08:55 I can't escape it.
1:08:56 It's It's inescapable.
1:08:59 and he happens to be the music man as well.
1:09:02 He doesn't listen music all the time.
1:09:04 Yeah, that you're just complicating the lore a lot, guys.
1:09:08 That the lore is getting wild at that point.
1:09:11 It is.
1:09:11 You need to rein it in cuz we we don't want to mess up any law.
1:09:14 So, there's there's defin these are just still uh very early ideas.
1:09:19 Okay, so another one we have is um and I'm not sure how this one could work.
1:09:24 Maybe if you get an idea,
1:09:25 but like some of your old theories are like all coming together
1:09:30 to like haunt you
1:09:31 in like secretly coming together to haunt
1:09:35 they're conspiring against me.
1:09:37 The peach peach is dead actually comes like
1:09:39 a peach zombie comes to life and starts attacking me.
1:09:42 That's funny.
1:09:44 That's great.
1:09:44 Something like that.
1:09:45 Maybe there's something along there.
1:09:46 a a bunch of copyrightneutral versions of all
1:09:50 these characters that I said were dead
1:09:52 over the course of all my theories because I there's got to be at least like
1:09:55 10 people that I've said is like
1:09:56 this character is secretly dead the entire time so
1:09:58 they all rise up out of the ground I'm attacked by a zombie army of characters.
1:10:03 That's fun.
1:10:04 Okay, cool.
1:10:05 That's interesting.
1:10:07 Um yeah, and then somebody said Matt Pat
1:10:09 sucked into the back rooms and there's like Oh, that's cool.
1:10:13 Yeah.
1:10:13 So, like the same idea of maybe like it's like you're a game character,
1:10:17 but then it's kind of like back rooms where you're glitching
1:10:20 through different um locations and different game levels and stuff like that.
1:10:24 M
1:10:25 that's a I honestly that I mean that's
1:10:27 a good framing device in general cuz I mean
1:10:31 the back rooms as an IP is all structured
1:10:35 around like each level is a different theme and so
1:10:40 kind of like mixing all those ideas
1:10:42 together would work really well with that sort
1:10:44 of thing because now all of a sudden it's like hey you no clip
1:10:47 through the back rooms and each level is its own like video game world
1:10:51 or or kind of playing off of its own video game tropes in some way.
1:10:54 Um, or could be themed around the theory in some way.
1:10:57 And you know, just like the back rooms has like the yellow
1:11:00 rooms and the party rooms and the pool rooms and all this stuff,
1:11:03 you could like descend deeper and deeper.
1:11:05 And you know, if you're riffing on it,
1:11:07 it allows you to either riff on different genres.
1:11:11 Like each floor could be a different genre.
1:11:13 Like one's horror, comedy, you know, like a noir detect, you know?
1:11:18 I don't know how long you want to make it
1:11:19 or kind of how how big we want to make it.
1:11:21 Yeah.
1:11:21 No, that that's interesting.
1:11:22 Yeah, like mystery noir, action movie, whatever.
1:11:26 Or alternatively, it could be variations of a theme.
1:11:29 So, if you're like, "Hey,
1:11:30 we want to make the whole thing horror." It could be like,
1:11:33 you know, kid, you know, kitty horror,
1:11:36 then it becomes kind of like uh you know, comedy horror,
1:11:40 then it can then it can get like more
1:11:41 and more serious as you go deeper and deeper,
1:11:43 which then builds naturally builds to a climax, and then you you know,
1:11:47 I escape the game or the fictional world or whatever.
1:11:49 So, like I think that as a framing device
1:11:53 gives you a nice structure to play with that you can then
1:11:56 layer on some of these other ideas and and that's pretty cool.
1:12:00 Yeah, we thought that was really cool.
1:12:01 And like we have some brainstorms about what those levels could be.
1:12:05 You kind of touched on like some of those.
1:12:07 So, we'll we'll bring that up in a second.
1:12:09 Okay.
1:12:09 And then there was also this idea of like a a kind of old
1:12:15 school console game that gets sent to you and it's got this like interesting
1:12:22 like you're attracted to it but maybe Steph's telling you don't need to,
1:12:26 you know, you've played hundreds of those like they always send them to you like
1:12:30 why this one and you just like pulling me to they're all the same.
1:12:34 Steph the voice of reason that tracks.
1:12:37 Yeah, that's fair.
1:12:38 Uh no, that's cool.
1:12:39 So, it's like um like Ben Drowned,
1:12:41 like those old like oh my I found this game
1:12:44 in a you know a B like the back corner
1:12:46 of a of an old video game store or I found
1:12:49 this at like a yard sale and it's like the mysterious game with the
1:12:53 the etching of you know like a Sharpie
1:12:56 marker that's like you know Zelda or whatever.
1:12:58 That's that's fun.
1:13:00 Yeah, that's cool.
1:13:01 Okay, awesome.
1:13:02 All right, cool.
1:13:03 So then we were just like, "All right,
1:13:05 what are like a bunch of different tropes that we could go through?
1:13:08 Some references." Yeah, just like I'll go through these really quick,
1:13:10 but we're asking the chat like,
1:13:12 "What are some what are what are horror game tropes
1:13:15 that we can't miss in this and like have to refer to?"
1:13:18 So a couple of them is like, you know,
1:13:20 audio cues like uh respawning in in different places.
1:13:27 Um that's interesting.
1:13:26 That's cool.
1:13:27 Uh
1:13:28 small noises lead to nothing.
1:13:31 Wait, what is this?
1:13:32 So smallness the smallest that's a video game.
1:13:36 I'm trying to read.
1:13:37 Sorry.
1:13:37 I wrote this.
1:13:38 He's reading my writing.
1:13:40 But somebody said like it's it happens in games where you hear like
1:13:43 a noise and then you kind of turn to it or or investigate.
1:13:46 Turns out to be nothing like just like a a small animal or something
1:13:49 and it runs away and then when it goes quiet then the jump scare comes.
1:13:53 Something.
1:13:53 Oh yeah.
1:13:54 The like the delayed jump scare that.
1:13:56 Yeah.
1:13:57 In both games and in film like that's that's classic films too.
1:14:00 Yeah.
1:14:01 That's super broad.
1:14:02 Uh, Morse code.
1:14:05 Oh, okay.
1:14:05 Getting into
1:14:06 is that common?
1:14:07 I mean, that's that's a I mean, for us, right,
1:14:09 where we do all sorts of like ARGs and and mysteries and stuff like
1:14:14 any sort of coding language and and any
1:14:17 sort of encryption is probably fair game.
1:14:20 You know, it's I wouldn't necessarily say Morse code
1:14:22 is like a like a game thing or anything like
1:14:24 that, but that's more of just like a are you
1:14:26 deal are you doing an ARG kind of thing like where
1:14:29 Yeah.
1:14:29 either there might be a noise like like for instance,
1:14:33 okay, let's let's take that idea and run with it.
1:14:36 So, no bad ideas in brainstorming.
1:14:38 Um, exactly.
1:14:39 You have like the back rooms are known
1:14:42 for the the humming of the fluorescent lights, right?
1:14:45 Like that's one of the icons of that series.
1:14:49 So, if you have fluorescent lights and you know how lights hum,
1:14:52 maybe it hums in some sort of like Morse code or like you hear the
1:14:58 Yes.
1:14:58 M and it's like oh that's a weird hum or alternatively you know
1:15:03 cuz when people think about Morse code they think of like D.
1:15:07 So you could do that with like a sound in the environment.
1:15:09 You could also do it with a visual in the environment, right?
1:15:11 So again, like taking the light example, one thing that you see a lot of in some
1:15:17 of the ARGs that we've covered is like a light flashing, right?
1:15:20 So the lights could be like flickering and on one
1:15:24 hand it's giving you a scary atmosphere,
1:15:26 but on the other hand, it's sending you a code, right?
1:15:28 It's a message.
1:15:29 Yeah.
1:15:29 That's awesome.
1:15:30 Yeah.
1:15:30 Even in Stranger Things, that's like I think I saw that in Parasite.
1:15:34 That's like Yep.
1:15:36 Yeah.
1:15:37 Love that.
1:15:38 Yeah.
1:15:38 Yeah, you see you see it used every once in a while
1:15:40 and I think as more and more people have gotten
1:15:41 familiar with the world of like ARGs it's like oh yeah
1:15:43 that's that's a thing that you could riff on which is
1:15:46 and I like that like some of these tropes that are
1:15:48 very cliche like we're calling it out in the film like you're
1:15:52 like you're kind of like okay it's this one again like that that kind of
1:15:55 cuz you know all the tropes and you know all the like different theories and
1:15:59 I do I do like and that kind of riffs on the thing that you were mentioned
1:16:02 before about the you know theories coming back
1:16:05 to haunt you or like some sort of like
1:16:07 mm pulling back in kind of like the theorizing element to it or the over,
1:16:11 you know, overthinking element to it.
1:16:13 That idea of, you know, using my knowledge of media or stuff that we've kind
1:16:18 of covered in the past and being like, "Yeah, we I've seen this before, guys.
1:16:22 Like, I know I know what the deal is.
1:16:24 You're not going to scare me with this one." And kind of like being two steps
1:16:27 ahead of it or almost being able to spoof on it a little bit, which is cool.
1:16:31 Yeah.
1:16:31 Uh-huh.
1:16:31 Yeah.
1:16:31 That is cool.
1:16:32 Cool.
1:16:32 And then we like went through if we had like different
1:16:35 sets that we could like play with like for different levels.
1:16:37 We were thinking like if we had a warehouse set,
1:16:40 what's some things that would be like cool
1:16:42 to to reference or like people saying like a flashlight,
1:16:45 the classic flashlight in a dark dark big space.
1:16:50 Sure.
1:16:50 And then we're also talking about like if we
1:16:52 had a a daycare set that could be fun.
1:16:55 Oh, daycare is like all of them.
1:16:58 No, I mean dayare is daycare is super easy because then you can go on like
1:17:03 um how how familiar are you guys
1:17:06 with like the world of indie horror video games?
1:17:09 Not very only only through making a movie about your life.
1:17:12 That's the closest you are they are all set in daycarees or some variable.
1:17:19 Uh no I mean so like uh you're talking about warehouses.
1:17:23 warehouses kind of bring to mind um Poppy Playtime,
1:17:27 which is, you know, a really big popular one right now.
1:17:29 Uh which is you're exploring an old abandoned uh
1:17:33 toy factory um where where the toys kind of come
1:17:37 to life and were infused with like the spirits
1:17:39 and bodies of of the employees and kids there.
1:17:42 Um the like a uh a daycare is very,
1:17:48 you know, closely ripped off of uh uh Garden of Band,
1:17:53 which is another one of those where it's uh about kind of like a haunted
1:17:59 or scary or kind of tragic daycare
1:18:02 that has like sinister undertones to it basically.
1:18:05 Um, and that one, that one I've kind
1:18:08 of gone on the record as being like the, oh, it's not Gartner a band ban again.
1:18:12 Oh, I hate this franch.
1:18:14 I think it's funny with how J it's it's like a super janky franchise,
1:18:19 which makes it memeable and really like I I
1:18:22 have a lot of dumb fun with that one.
1:18:24 Um, but that's that's something that you
1:18:26 could reference if you're doing like a daycare.
1:18:28 Also, I mean, if you're talk, but if you're think so,
1:18:31 I think one of the things that's just important for you
1:18:33 guys to to nail down is are we doing horror?
1:18:37 Like, are we doing video games?
1:18:38 Is it all horror?
1:18:39 Are you doing different genres?
1:18:41 And then is it video games and movies?
1:18:44 Is it just video games?
1:18:45 Is it movies?
1:18:46 Like, cuz when I think about daycare, right,
1:18:49 I also think about there's just so many iconic horror movies where it's like
1:18:55 thinking about the the haunted kid, right?
1:18:57 the scary possessed kid.
1:18:59 Um, you know, which is less.
1:19:04 There are definitely games that have, you know,
1:19:07 the haunted or like demon kid or whatever like that as a trope,
1:19:09 but they're fewer and farther.
1:19:11 They're not as like big name like, oh,
1:19:12 I immediately like have these five that come
1:19:14 to mind and that everyone will know.
1:19:17 So, that's the one watch I have there.
1:19:19 What do you think?
1:19:20 because we like I think the horror genre in general could be covering nicely,
1:19:25 but do you think um your audience would feel like
1:19:29 it's uh too broad and it should be more game horror?
1:19:32 Cuz I like I like horror in general as as like our scope.
1:19:37 I think it's interesting, right?
1:19:40 because like horror as a genre has been spoofed a lot in so I I think
1:19:44 focus I I think staying focused will help you know I I think it will help
1:19:50 clarify the narrative that you're doing because I'm you know
1:19:53 it's not it's not going to be a full-on film
1:19:54 right it's going to be a short film so you're
1:19:56 not going to have time to really expound into this like
1:19:59 massive sweeping epic and so you want to kind of keep
1:20:02 it as I understand this we don't have to introduce
1:20:05 new rules every single time you know it's stuff
1:20:07 that people can immediately kind of like get and relate to.
1:20:13 Um, and so for me, I think keeping it focused on one makes sense now is
1:20:19 and and because of that, I feel like it might be
1:20:25 smarter to stick with either games or movies just because again,
1:20:30 if you make it too broad, then people are like,
1:20:34 "He's in a horror." It might read as untrue, right?
1:20:38 is a horror game, but this sort of thing isn't really a horror game trope.
1:20:42 It's more of just a horror movie trope.
1:20:44 And I think you can like maybe have a couple of like
1:20:48 passing remarks or funny moments where there's like, oh,
1:20:52 I get that reference or like, you know, haha, that's a minor thing.
1:20:55 But I think for like the core beats
1:20:58 of the story and kind of like the core plot progression,
1:21:01 especially if I'm trapped in a video game
1:21:03 and being controlled in a video game, like
1:21:05 if it's if it if I'm glitching into the back rooms
1:21:09 and the back rooms is just a general weird media space,
1:21:14 then I think you can get away with that idea of maybe it being,
1:21:18 you know, it's just horror as a genre.
1:21:20 But if if it's Matt Pat gets sucked into a video
1:21:23 game and now has to kind of progress through a
1:21:26 back roomsesque game, I think then you have to stick to the game thing.
1:21:30 So I think how you I like that.
1:21:33 Yeah, I think how you frame it ultimately depends on kind
1:21:35 of how much leeway you get in how the plot kind of evolves.
1:21:40 Yeah, for sure.
1:21:40 Okay, great.
1:21:41 I we're leaning to more towards like games.
1:21:43 So I think we're all on the same page.
1:21:45 It's like we're in the in this game
1:21:46 and we're we're doing these like horror game troops.
1:21:49 Um, so like another daycare thing um we had was like spawning in a ball pit.
1:21:57 Like you you arrive in the ball pit and you like get up.
1:22:00 Like that's kind of fun.
1:22:02 Yeah.
1:22:02 As long as the ball as long
1:22:04 as the ball pit doesn't travel through time, we're good.
1:22:06 Time traveling.
1:22:08 Somebody said like a ball pit is that is that something?
1:22:11 Um it it is it is a it is a thing unfortunately.
1:22:15 Uh yeah, in the Five Nights at Freddy's books,
1:22:18 uh there is a shocking theme actually of time travel ball pits.
1:22:22 Uh and then that got turned into a game that was kind
1:22:26 of an adaptation of of one of the stories in the books.
1:22:31 Okay, maybe there's a joke there of like,
1:22:33 thank God that doesn't time travel me or something.
1:22:34 I was going to say, yeah, right.
1:22:36 Like, oh, if only I could rewind back in time
1:22:38 and I jump back into the ball pit and it's like, damn it, it didn't work.
1:22:44 Right.
1:22:44 I like it.
1:22:44 Pop out.
1:22:46 to be different.
1:22:47 Yeah.
1:22:48 Cool.
1:22:48 Um, okay.
1:22:49 So, the next the next thing that came up was
1:22:51 maybe like a prison or like an an insane asylum type
1:22:56 like that kind of be a level or a set.
1:22:58 That could be cool.
1:22:59 That's great.
1:22:59 Love that.
1:23:00 Maybe there's like a creepy janitor.
1:23:03 That also Yeah.
1:23:04 Yeah.
1:23:04 And that also allows you again like if you're talking about
1:23:06 layers of creepiness or like if if you're escalating the scares,
1:23:10 Insane Asylum are always like this, you know,
1:23:12 some of the scariest if not the scariest of the games.
1:23:15 So, you know, go from like, haha, daycare,
1:23:19 I'm so over this to like, oh no, this is like serious mode now.
1:23:22 Yeah.
1:23:23 Okay.
1:23:24 And then we have a hospital set idea that we could probably work with.
1:23:27 and and like you know there there's a lot
1:23:30 of like set ideas that they were giving us with this is funny.
1:23:35 Say you spawn in like a hospital bed and you're hooked to an IV drip.
1:23:39 That's like a Diet Coke IV drip.
1:23:44 That's great.
1:23:44 That I mean that's just me in real life.
1:23:47 Like that's that's again one of those things that's
1:23:49 like oh yeah that's in my rider actually funny enough
1:23:53 when I when I come on set that's one of the things I
1:23:55 demand all the time like I need a literal IV drip of Diet Coke.
1:23:59 So that's easy enough.
1:24:00 We'll have that offset and also in this scene, but
1:24:04 yeah, tea for tea for Steph, Diet Coke for me.
1:24:06 Diet tea and diet coke on.
1:24:08 Okay, so that's that's kind of like the the levels
1:24:10 in the body of the film and it's like that's the real journey.
1:24:13 And I think there's also like while you're playing the physical game,
1:24:16 there's like this a story or b story I guess of like you
1:24:20 communicating with Seth uh sorry Steph through the step through the uh headset
1:24:26 and and and also the idea of like like she wants to help you
1:24:30 and maybe there's some disagreements but she can control you if she wants.
1:24:34 So there's a bit of conflict there and it's kind of fun and oh that's funny.
1:24:37 I mean that that kind of Yeah, that that funny that funny like I
1:24:42 I can Yeah, I can control you whenever I want to.
1:24:45 So I you got to play nice with me kind of thing.
1:24:47 If there was like a core conflict there about something game related
1:24:50 or like some sort of flaw that this character has like this map character,
1:24:54 what do you feel like that might be that like
1:24:57 you guys are kind of going back and forth about?
1:24:59 Oh, I mean, well, I mean,
1:25:00 my flaw as a character would definitely be I like especially knowing kind
1:25:04 of like if I'm like joking about the world and like I'm so over this.
1:25:08 I've done this a hundred times.
1:25:09 I think like the overconfidence or like the hubris of like I'm I'm like Mr.
1:25:14 Know-it-all and so getting that broken down
1:25:16 I think would be really funny and good.
1:25:19 And honestly, I mean that could even be
1:25:22 it would be it would have to be a different premise or a different setup.
1:25:25 But I I I mean, one of the things that Steph and I, you know,
1:25:28 are are known to have argued about on GT
1:25:30 Live and is one of those things that we like
1:25:32 playfully make fun of each other all the time
1:25:34 is that I'm just like unnaturally lucky at video games.
1:25:39 And so whenever we play stuff like Mario
1:25:41 Party or Mario Kart or whatever, I'm, you know, I think I'm really good at them,
1:25:46 but Steph a lot of times will be like, "Oh, you complain about how, you know,
1:25:49 how the game is being unfair and then all
1:25:50 of a sudden the game like favors you for whatever reason,
1:25:53 right?" So there could be that premise or that setup
1:25:56 of the power dynamic shifting where the framing device there is like,
1:26:00 hey, maybe you're playing, you know,
1:26:02 we're playing games together at the beginning.
1:26:04 I'm winning.
1:26:05 I'm gloating, whatever that is.
1:26:07 And so I'm a sore winner at that point.
1:26:09 And now the tables have turned.
1:26:11 I'm in the game and she's in control of me.
1:26:15 And so at first, she doesn't want to be nice to me because I was
1:26:18 the one who was gloating and rubbing it in her face how good I am.
1:26:20 Hey, if you're so good at games, let's see you get get out of this.
1:26:24 And then there's that point of, hey, I you know,
1:26:28 we realize that it's serious and I have to we have
1:26:30 to work together to make it to make it out alive.
1:26:33 Yeah, I love that.
1:26:34 I think that's kind of where the ending would the ending direction would go.
1:26:37 Yeah.
1:26:38 Would would you if if if you're going through multiple levels,
1:26:41 just out of curiosity and and you probably don't have an answer, but like
1:26:46 outside of kind of like the dynamic between,
1:26:48 you know, the player and I, Steph and I,
1:26:49 whatever, is there a persistent force or threat
1:26:54 that kind of spans all the levels, right?
1:26:57 Like is there a driving?
1:27:00 Is it just cuz it it feels a little You
1:27:02 don't want it to be just aimlessly like wandering through Yeah.
1:27:06 you know, these multiple levels and and like,
1:27:08 oh, I gotta get out of here somehow.
1:27:10 Is there some sort of
1:27:12 other kind of like wider threat or kind of threat that spans say
1:27:16 the the three to five levels that you're kind of going through that
1:27:22 ex like gives us a sense of urgency?
1:27:27 Yes.
1:27:26 I think like there's either like who sent you this game and why
1:27:31 like maybe that's there's a there's a person behind this like a antagonist or
1:27:36 even just the idea of how like I don't know all the games are
1:27:41 all the tropes are like so overdone that
1:27:44 maybe the game is like breaking as you're in it and if you don't get out
1:27:49 in time because all of these like
1:27:52 tropes are so repetitive and and like and then and makes
1:27:56 you think about like running down a hallway that never ends.
1:27:58 And maybe if you're running out of time before the game kind of breaks,
1:28:03 it could be a ticking time bomb.
1:28:07 Yeah.
1:28:06 Um but we can we can keep thinking about that.
1:28:09 There should definitely be that like on like that driving
1:28:12 that driving force that pushes the whole story forward.
1:28:16 Yeah.
1:28:15 Yeah.
1:28:15 There there's that like moment of like, haha,
1:28:17 this is kind of funny and silly and we
1:28:19 can kind of like goof off with each other,
1:28:21 but then it's like, oh no, there's this is serious.
1:28:24 There there is some urgency here.
1:28:25 We have to figure this out and we have to get out now.
1:28:29 Yeah.
1:28:30 Yeah.
1:28:31 Amazing.
1:28:32 Cool.
1:28:31 Well, I think we've got a great start and uh we
1:28:35 have some work to do personally to to really get this done.
1:28:38 Even though the script's finished, right?
1:28:40 The script's Yeah, I need I thought this was done.
1:28:42 I mean, I cut Prince, you know, put this.
1:28:47 Give me 10 minutes and it should be up.
1:28:50 Great.
1:28:50 Awesome.
1:28:50 Yeah.
1:28:51 Just to double, you know, type up another copy.
1:28:53 Yeah, exactly.
1:28:55 Yeah.
1:28:55 All right.
1:28:56 Thanks, Matt.
1:28:56 So much so excited to shoot this thing and turn it into a real film.
1:29:01 And thanks to the chat as well for giving us these ideas.
1:29:04 We are actually going to turn this into a short
1:29:06 film and it's going to be coming out soon.
1:29:08 So crazy.
1:29:10 Let's get pumped.
1:29:11 That's so exciting.
1:29:12 Thanks, guys.
1:29:12 This is This is wild.
1:29:14 I never expected this to happen.
1:29:15 Not a not a bad thing to do for retirement.
1:29:17 I appreciate it.
1:29:18 Thank you.
1:29:19 It'll be fun.
1:29:20 We won't forget the Diet Coke or the tea.
1:29:22 Yeah.
1:29:23 Okay.
1:29:23 Yeah, sounds good.
1:29:26 All right, talk to you guys later.
