How YouTube Consultants Help Creators Get MrBeast Level Views
CNBC
0:01 YouTube continues to be a juggernaut in the entertainment industry.
0:05 It's consistently number one in watch time
0:07 among all streaming services in the US,
0:09 and its lead is only growing while the platform
0:13 continues to expand into more traditional media channels.
0:16 Creator driven content is still its bread and butter.
0:19 Since 2021 YouTube says it has paid out more than $100 billion to its creators,
0:25 but when it comes to going mega viral, creators like Mr.
0:28 Beast and Ryan Trahan aren't doing it alone.
0:31 YouTubers hire people whose entire job is to help their videos get more views,
0:36 and they'll sometimes pay hundreds of 1000s of dollars a year
0:39 for that help some of the best strategists get paid,
0:41 like more than $20,000 a month.
0:44 We predict virality, so we predict views.
0:56 YouTube strategists are platform experts.
0:58 They help creators figure out what's working and what isn't
1:02 they also work with creators to develop stronger video ideas,
1:06 more eye catching thumbnails and more engaging titles.
1:09 More and more top creators are working with them, including Mr.
1:12 Beast, sports content creator Jesser and wildlife host Forrest Galante.
1:17 This kind of help doesn't come cheap.
1:20 Some strategists charge up to $15,000 a month.
1:23 We spoke to three YouTube strategists.
1:26 Some of what they do is the same,
1:28 but each has a different approach to help their clients.
1:31 So we offer services to almost every creator on the platform.
1:35 My team in the US specifically focuses on the top,
1:39 like 10% of creators on the platform, many of which are household names.
1:43 This is Reed Fernandez.
1:44 He works for YouTube as a strategic partner manager.
1:48 It really like runs the gamut,
1:50 depending on how big you are and how much you want to lean into the platform.
1:54 Reed's job isn't just to help with their content, because he works for YouTube,
1:59 he also connects them with partnership opportunities with other creators,
2:02 and he can provide insights on how to create videos optimized for YouTube.
2:07 And perhaps the best part for creators, he does it all for free.
2:11 As your channel grows and you become a top creator, you can get someone like me,
2:14 a strategic partner manager,
2:15 to help be a kind of like in House advisor to your channel.
2:19 I've been on calls with partners that have interview shows,
2:22 and they'll ask me for advice,
2:24 of like, which of these guests you think would perform best on YouTube?
2:27 Have you seen them go on other shows?
2:29 It can be something as big as I'm working on a few me campaigns at the moment.
2:33 At its core, my role is just personifying YouTube to our top partners
2:38 and making sure that they feel like
2:40 they have someone that's advocating for them.
2:42 When a person has made a lot of subscribers on YouTube, like 10 million,
2:46 20 million subscribers, and they're now like, how do I bring it even further?
2:51 I help those creators get more views.
2:54 This is Mario Jules.
2:55 He worked with Mr.
2:57 Beast as a retention director.
2:59 He's an expert in figuring out what viewers want to watch.
3:02 Well, a strategist is a person who has knowledge.
3:04 So when I started with the Mr.
3:06 Peace team, I came into the strategist role.
3:08 So you have some knowledge, you're learning and you're applying the knowledge.
3:11 I have now stepped away from the strategist role.
3:14 I've done that for very long time.
3:15 I've kind of gone into the consultant role,
3:17 and I'll sit with you, I'll analyze your channel,
3:19 and I'll see what knowledge do I think you are missing or your team is missing?
3:23 I sit down with you, I identify the issues,
3:26 I highlight the theory and the reasoning behind the issues,
3:29 so that you have knowledge.
3:30 And then I'll I'll still steer you in the direction,
3:32 or give you some advice on here's how I would do it.
3:37 The YouTube algorithm, essentially is three components, it's clicks,
3:41 it's watches, so watch time and it's satisfaction.
3:45 And this is paddy Galloway.
3:48 YouTube creator Jesser called him a super smart guy.
3:51 YouTuber forest Galante said he's an absolute genius.
3:56 Average increase in views after a year, so year on year after working with us,
4:01 is 350% Galloway is at or near the top of the YouTube strategist food chain.
4:06 He typically charges 15 to $20,000 a month for services.
4:12 So I was originally a creator like I had my own channel,
4:14 I grew it to over 500,000 subscribers.
4:17 People would reach out to me.
4:18 So I had inbound leads even when I had that channel, you know, 10 years ago,
4:22 eight years ago, people would reach out to me,
4:24 and they were like, Hey, you clearly understand YouTube.
4:26 Do you offer consulting?
4:27 And eventually I was like, you know, I should try this.
4:30 And from there, it kind of developed into like, Oh, wow.
4:33 We grew that channel from 50k a month in revenue to 300k a month in revenue.
4:39 There's probably something quite valuable that I'm doing here.
4:41 And from there, it just kind of became this snowball effect.
4:44 Galloway told us, at his peak,
4:45 he had a wait list of more than 5000 creators who wanted to work with him.
4:50 I don't do sales calls.
4:51 I don't do discovery calls, even our biggest like corporate clients,
4:55 you know, like the rebels, the Philadelphia Eagles, Yeti, they come.
4:59 Through inbound.
5:00 They reach out to us,
5:01 but I just think it's never been a better time to start as a creator.
5:05 You.
