0:31 I'm just going to be showing you a lot of footage I shot with this.

0:33 Honestly, I feel like that's the best way to see if you like the footage.

0:40 And at the very end, I'll tell you my favorite and least

0:43 favorite thing about this Insta 360 Go Ultra.

0:47 So, this is all just default settings.

0:49 I did not tweak on the sharpness or color or any of that.

0:52 Now, specs-wise, what really surprised me was

0:54 the one over 1.28 inch sensor in this thing.

0:58 In other words, the biggest sensor that fits in the best

1:02 action cameras out right now is in this little thing.

1:05 But every time you go down in size, there definitely have to be compromises

1:09 for heat mitigation and all this other stuff.

1:11 So, for example, we're not going to get 4K 120 in this thing.

1:14 We do get 2.7K 120 frames per second, which is still fun.

1:18 But when it comes to when you're just recording regular video,

1:21 we are still getting 4K 4x3 aspect ratio,

1:25 just richer colors, dynamic range, much better lowlight capabilities.

1:29 When you compare to any other action camera,

1:31 this thing is not going to be fallen behind.

1:34 Basically, this is the action camera right here,

1:36 and this is what they would call the action pod.

1:38 And I want to say this is around the size of a typical action camera.

1:42 But what makes the Go series so unique is you can pop

1:47 this part out and then basically significantly reduce the size of this.

1:51 But what is the point of getting something this small

1:54 when action cameras are generally like pretty small already?

1:57 Now, I've personally been really interested

1:58 in these little Go cameras because I do

2:00 a lot of drone stuff and when it comes to making tiny FPV drones,

2:03 every gram counts in terms of how small you can make the propellers,

2:06 your battery life, all that stuff.

2:08 So going down from action cam weight to this makes a pretty big difference.

2:12 But how about when you're not using it on a drone?

2:14 How about like a helmet, right?

2:15 Less weight on your helmet.

2:16 That's good, right?

2:16 But to be honest with my fullface helmet at least,

2:19 I barely could actually tell the difference.

2:22 And you do also have limited battery life when this is by itself.

2:26 So I would run it on endurance mode.

2:28 And in that endurance mode, I got over an hour on this by itself,

2:31 which is actually pretty good considering the last one

2:34 I think might have been closer to half of that.

2:36 So, this actually has reasonable battery life by itself.

2:39 But typically, I might go out for 2 to 3 hours.

2:41 So, I didn't want to worry about battery life.

2:43 I just put it in the action pod, put this on the helmet,

2:45 and it felt like pretty much any other action camera.

2:49 And in endurance mode, this thing lasted very close to 3 hours.

2:53 And I think one of the biggest things to understand about this camera is,

2:56 yes, it can be an action camera, but really, it's a wearable camera.

3:01 I mean, sure, any action camera is a wearable if you

3:04 put on like a chest harness or a helmet mount or whatever,

3:07 but if you just take it and walk around downtown

3:09 with that chest harness on, people just tend to wonder what you're filming.

3:13 They're going to be like, "Are you going to go and like rob a bank so

3:16 you can film it and put it on TikTok or what?

3:18 What's going on here?" You know,

3:19 this is one where I say it's like a good action camera for social life.

3:22 One of the first outings I took this out on was to visit Mercedes.

3:26 I was just kind of using this as like a behindthe-scenes camera.

3:29 I like how everyone's all about like the G Wagons

3:31 or the sports cars and I'm just like I'm the van guy.

3:34 So, is this a concept car?

3:36 Yeah, that's a concept.

3:37 Okay.

3:37 It's our first outlook on the BLS.

3:40 Do you see that?

3:40 It's like it goes from tinted and then a cop pulls you over and goes,

3:44 "Hey, your windows are tinted." You go, "No."

3:47 As we were getting this tour of this van,

3:50 I started to realize like this footage is probably

3:52 good enough to be kind of a V camera.

3:54 Not saying this is going to be on par with an FX3,

3:58 but it is funny to see when I intercut between the two.

4:02 It's not like super jarring, but as you can see,

4:04 I am recording with basically no effort.

4:07 The biggest screen ever in a car.

4:10 Wow.

4:10 And you can just kind of imagine if I were wearing a chest

4:13 harness through this to get the same perspective on a full size action camera.

4:16 It just look funnier.

4:18 But is this van not the sickest thing ever?

4:21 Like the biggest TV in a vehicle ever comes out of the ground.

4:31 I was almost waiting for the seat to like

4:43 So you actually feel like Geforces and then you start crashing into the trees.

4:47 Honestly, it really gets me excited to think about the future of transportation.

4:52 Like, you really think about it soon, it's going to get to the point where you

4:55 don't need to design a car for the driver.

4:58 You can design it for comfort and enjoyment.

5:01 And then when you're done with a movie,

5:03 you're at your destination hours of wait.

5:05 Finally got to see Aurora Borealis.

5:10 There are seven projectors in here because the 65 in TV is not enough.

5:16 morning commute stuck in 405 traffic.

5:19 Hell yeah, bring it.

5:20 You sit in LA traffic and you just see all

5:22 the people next to you with road rage and like

5:25 anger and you just turn the tint bang down so

5:27 you don't have to see them and just be like,

5:29 "Let me just get a little back massage with my martini here." Overall,

5:32 was definitely happy to see how well the Go Ultra was kind

5:35 of able to maintain that footage even when it got much darker.

5:38 That bigger sensor is definitely just going

5:40 to give us that better dynamic range,

5:41 so less clipping when there's darks and brights in the same shot.

5:44 And all this I was just shooting in the 4x3

5:46 setting which I like because it just kind of gives

5:48 me a little bit more room to tilt up

5:50 or down in case my camera's not angled perfectly right.

5:53 Uh but there is also this uh pure video mode right here.

5:57 So this is kind of like their low light mode.

6:00 Historically action cameras have looked good during the daytime

6:02 and then as soon as it gets dark you leave it

6:04 at home because really action cameras need a set of things

6:07 that make it really hard to be good at low light.

6:09 First of all ultra wideangle lens.

6:11 These are hard to get fast in terms of getting a lot of light in.

6:14 Right?

6:14 And then you have to stabilize the image.

6:16 So that's why like on your phone,

6:17 every time you go into like an ultra wide angle lens,

6:19 all of a sudden your your dark footage looks like trash.

6:21 Okay.

6:22 Usually action cameras are a lot heavier.

6:23 Usually you need this top strap to help

6:25 support the weight of the action camera, right?

6:26 But I feel like we can probably lose this top.

6:32 But can we remove this top strap?

6:34 Oh, I didn't even need to cut it.

6:35 It just slips out like that.

6:40 Cuz a lot of times you're just trying to get a POV,

6:42 like a point of view shot of what you see, right?

6:44 And head straps are honestly one of the best POV angles you could get.

6:48 It's just kind of cumbersome.

6:49 So, usually you head mount a camera and you're like,

6:52 I hope it's it's pointing the right way.

6:54 Just like the previous version,

6:55 even when you remove the camera module, the screen stays connected.

7:00 Basically, I would just kind of keep this in the corner

7:02 so I can like glance at it once in a while.

7:04 And sure, I could have used my phone to do that as well,

7:06 but I'm using my phone to watch YouTube tutorials on how to install these parts.

7:10 So now, it's not like super full res when you disconnect,

7:14 but there has been a significant improvement in terms of image

7:18 quality transmission between this Go Ultra and the previous Go 3S.

7:22 There's also one more feature that this Go Ultra

7:24 and the previous Go 3S has that I freaking love and no

7:30 other cameras have it and I want it in every

7:34 single other camera which is drum roll find my capabilities.

7:39 If you lose stuff all the time like I do, Apple find my.

7:43 Okay, I'm looking for my Go Ultra cuz we're about

7:45 to go to downtown and I want to have it with me.

8:04 So, this is the previous Go 3S.

8:06 And when I first saw the new Ultra, I was definitely like, "Oh,

8:09 definitely a little bit larger, like a bigger face." And it definitely is.

8:13 It was 39 g to now 53.

8:15 When I'm using it on the magnetic pendant under my shirt,

8:18 I actually like this shape better.

8:20 is just flatter and it feels less likely to kind

8:23 of get like bumped off and just much better magnetic strength, too.

8:26 Definitely better on a shirt, but less good on a hat.

8:29 So, I did use like the elongated pill shape so that you can kind of stick

8:33 it on the bottom of a hat and it doesn't really stand out too much.

8:37 This, if you put it on here, it's kind of big up there.

8:39 And if I didn't lose the hat clip already,

8:41 I could have shown it actually does stick back here.

8:44 And they say like, "Yeah,

8:45 you can wear it backwards." You know, by the way, go Dodgers.

8:48 I feel like I got to be a Dodgers fan now because Showi Otani, okay,

8:51 my Japanese blood up there on the field and then also uh I just been

8:55 living in LA for 18 years and first

8:57 time looking through binoculars at a sports game.

9:02 You get all the close-ups and everything.

9:06 Felt like he was like right here.

9:08 I think these are game changers.

9:10 I can actually see the players faces.

9:13 They're for birds and baseball.

9:15 This is the magnetic pendant, by the way.

9:16 And I do like that if you rotate it, it kind of creates that angle.

9:20 See how it's kind of more like a Vshape?

9:21 Now I rotate it and now it's like pointing downwards.

9:25 Actually, I found that I actually like

9:27 that angle of it going downwards a little bit.

9:29 In a lot of cases, it make me look more straight.

9:32 But then if I'm saying like uh cycling on a bike or something,

9:35 then I'll just leave it on flat and it kind of tends to just see more up front.

9:38 So it is kind of useful to have that just

9:41 built in instead of having that little extra piece,

9:43 that wedge that you would have to carry around before.

9:45 kind of let you know right there how to orient it in order to, you know,

9:49 get vertical or horizontal right there.

9:51 But it's definitely much stronger.

9:53 I actually did like a two plus hour dirt bike ride

9:56 with just the magnetic pendant and it did not fall off.

10:00 Actually, the whole 3 weeks I've had it on, it did not fall off once.

10:04 There's also latches back here,

10:05 which is definitely recommended to give you like a really strong hold.

10:08 Oh, and of course, if it did fall off and hit the cement,

10:12 uh, removable lens right here.

10:14 And I think they actually have like a a macro lens for like extreme

10:18 close-ups and also like an aqua lens cuz this is a little bit curved.

10:23 This by itself is waterproof.

10:24 Uh this action pod right here is not.

10:27 So if you're going to go underwater, don't go in like this.

10:30 Go in with just that.

10:31 You know, I once saw these snorkeling goggles with an action cam mount.

10:34 I think that's another scenario where just having

10:37 this lightweight camera up there would be good.

10:39 I do like how they're making their cameras in black now.

10:41 I do wish that this also came in black instant 360.

10:44 Can you make one or aftermarket, whoever.

10:46 Honestly, I don't even care about the color of this because it's in my shirt.

10:49 It's more of the the straps, you know,

10:50 the white always shows and it kind of makes me

10:52 feel like I'm like an Apple store employee undercover or something.

10:56 One little thing, this action pod right here, Insta 360, I think,

10:59 is the only one that really does this like flip up screen

11:02 opposed to having like a second screen out here in the front.

11:05 But what I do like about it is just like how good of a kickstand it is.

11:09 you know, if you want to just like angle up a little bit.

11:11 Also, this is kind of new for a Go camera.

11:13 Look at that micro SD card.

11:15 Usually in the past, they've just been kind of like internal memory.

11:17 I must say another thing that really surprised

11:19 me about this camera is actually the sound quality,

11:23 which is one of those kind of often overlooked things in action cameras,

11:26 but obviously it's important.

11:27 There's that saying that a sound is half a video.

11:36 It's unprotected.

11:37 Just sitting right here on my chest.

11:39 First and forth, right?

11:43 That's usually what you hear.

11:44 Here we're at Dodger Stadium, which pretty loud environment.

11:47 Four seats over.

11:48 Leslie's talking.

11:49 And if we make a little sign that says it's my birthday, like he has to.

11:54 By the way, I highly recommend getting familiar

11:56 with features like pre-recording and also loop recording.

11:59 Like if you're going to go on a 2-hour ride,

12:01 you don't want two hours of footage, right?

12:03 But at the same time, you don't want to miss something if something cool

12:05 or epic happens or things like [Applause] whenever something happens,

12:20 all I got to do is then tap it and then it saves that little section of time.

12:24 And then after you get back,

12:25 instead of having hours of footage to go through, you only have a few clips.

12:28 And also interval video is one of those kind of slept on features I feel like.

12:33 So for example, you could have it so that like every 10 minutes

12:36 it just turns on and records for a minute and then shuts back off.

12:38 And at the end of the day, it's kind of like this fun little mystery

12:41 bag of footage that you collected throughout the day.

12:43 It's great because sometimes you just want to document your day

12:47 and the hard part is remembering to pull out the camera all the time.

12:51 So this just kind of sits in the background and just does its thing.

12:54 And you don't have to download all the clips.

12:56 You could just go in and just pluck a few things out.

12:58 But it is fun just having this thing that requires zero brain power

13:03 to turn on and start recording and then you have these fun little clips.

13:06 All right, time for my favorite and least favorite things about this Go Ultra.

13:10 Let's really test how strong this magnet is.

13:13 How it's still it's staying on.

13:15 Least favorite things about this.

13:16 I would say that it is uh less good on the Hack Clip now because it's just kind

13:21 of awkward being so tall or if you sling

13:23 it underneath and it kind of blocks your view.

13:25 does not have time code as of right now at least

13:27 which is a feature that very few people probably would use.

13:31 That's a feature I would use though if you're looking to get

13:33 like really tight angle shots like trying to see things far away.

13:35 This is don't get this uh wide angle lens.

13:38 So more POV style.

13:40 This does have like this like 2x mode where you can like double tap and then

13:42 it like kind of crops in but it does cut a little chunk of time out.

13:46 So I might skip a moment.

13:48 Honestly, it's a feature that I would

13:49 like to personally disable because if anything,

13:52 I just keep accidentally bumping it into that 2x

13:55 mode and then sometimes I'll just end up

13:56 with all this footage that's just kind of like

13:58 cropped in, which is not what I use this for.

14:00 If I'm looking for far away shots, then that's when I pull out the phone.

14:04 Actually, sometimes I'm actually going out without this action.

14:07 I could just carry this around,

14:08 just make sure my settings are all pre-dialed in before I take it out,

14:11 and then I just throw this in my pocket.

14:12 There's a lot of cameras that are pocket size,

14:14 but when you have also your phone and your wallet

14:16 and your keys and all this stuff already taking up all that space,

14:20 pocket size does become smaller and smaller.

14:23 I think if there was just like a little

14:25 notch somewhere on this camera that's like a lockout.

14:28 I do feel like it's a little bit too easy to accidentally like bump it and then

14:31 it starts recording and then all of a sudden

14:33 you have like a dead battery and you're like,

14:35 "What?" And then you look and you just see like

14:37 a 40-minute clip of it just rustling around in your pocket.

14:39 Oh, dude.

14:40 I've been recording for the last couple minutes, 3 minutes.

14:43 Another feature I'd want to pitch this into 360 is like if I bump it off,

14:46 it just goes beep beep beep.

14:47 And then maybe I'm more likely to realize, oop,

14:49 it's on the ground, pick it back up, put it on.

14:52 Uh, or what if it's too loud and you don't hear the beep?

14:54 You know what they really should do is install a taser onto here.

14:57 You accidentally bump it off, it's just, oh,

15:01 those are the handful of my least favorite things.

15:03 My favorite thing, every time you go down in size on an action camera,

15:07 there's compromises, right?

15:09 But this feels like it has very minimal compromises.

15:14 And even if you compare this to an action

15:16 camera just like a few generations back,

15:18 like full-size one, this would probably outperform it in a lot of ways.

15:22 And it's just a camera that takes very little effort.

15:25 Like especially if your goal is to get behind the scenes stuff

15:27 or document your day or you could wear it around in public and Frank,

15:31 he'll like put it on his watch

15:32 and then anytime something happens, he'll just go beep.

15:35 You know, it's like a secret agent.

15:36 I also really just like the overall innovation

15:39 that we've seen out of the Go series, you know,

15:41 like the removable camera and the wireless screen

15:44 still working and the fine m and it just

15:46 makes it so much easier to document the simple

15:48 things like like my walking that I've been doing.

15:50 Today will be day number 145 of me walking at least 7,500 steps a day.

15:56 I highly recommend trying to start a streak like that.

15:59 I mean, I got a Garmin watch that basically just like tracks it for me,

16:02 but you could also download this.

16:04 It's like a habit app that I use and I would say it's definitely one

16:07 of the most beneficial things I've done

16:09 for myself for the last several years at least.

16:12 And obviously tons of health benefits to walking.

16:14 But really what I've noticed the most is that when you

16:17 walk it sends a lot of blood flow to your brain.

16:19 You make better decisions.

16:20 You're just clearer in your head.

16:22 And then just like seeing that I've been able

16:24 to stay on the streak for a 100 almost 150 days.

16:28 And typically I'm not good at maintaining routines like this.

16:32 But seeing I could do that, it's like, oh, I could start other habits, too.

16:36 And it's important to do small habits.

16:38 Start with just like one habit and just like track it.

16:41 And there's a whole lot to say there.

16:42 So, thinking about making a whole video about it on my second channel, maybe.
