GM Joe Schoen on the 2026 NFL Draft | Giants Huddle | New York Giants
New York Giants
0:00 Welcome to another edition of the Johnson podcast brought to you by Citizens,
0:03 the official bank of the Giants.
0:04 I am John Schmilk.
0:05 Proud to be welcomed by Giants general manager Joe Shane.
0:08 Joe, what's going on?
0:09 Oh, not much.
0:09 Just uh coming up for here air here now after the draft,
0:12 but I appreciate you having me.
0:13 Yeah, absolutely.
0:14 Let's talk about the draft.
0:16 I was watching on Thursday night you and John Harbaugh
0:19 sitting together at the table at the press conference and coach
0:21 Harbaugh was asked about Arvar Ree and he starts listing all
0:24 the traits he has and everything that he's going to do.
0:26 And that smile that you have right now,
0:28 it was much bigger at the press conference
0:29 as you listened to how he's answering the question.
0:32 And I'm trying to think, all right, is he envisioning him on the field?
0:34 Is he just thinking about the chance that he actually got the five?
0:37 What was going through your mind as you listened to Harbaugh explain how
0:40 he was going to use him and why your smile got so big?
0:43 Yeah, it was a culmination of all those things because when our defensive staff
0:47 presented how they would use him in draft meetings and you get that smile,
0:50 you're like, "Oh my gosh,
0:51 this young, athletic, tall, long, powerful, explosive, physical,
0:56 all those dominant traits that he has." And then
0:59 how we were going to deploy him in our defense, you know, got us excited.
1:02 So, all along, you know, never really thought, you know,
1:06 there was a scenario where where he would be there um at five.
1:09 And again, we were we were looking
1:11 at him as an offthe-ball linebacker the entire time,
1:13 but did have the versatility to move him around and do some of the other things.
1:16 So, um, just the fact that he was there at five, I mean,
1:19 that really got us off to a good start
1:21 on on Thursday night to start the draft and, um,
1:24 you know, just so excited to have him and Tmaine,
1:26 you know, next to each other in the middle.
1:28 I mean, talk about being the Giants.
1:29 I know coach made a comment about
1:30 that, but like we're the Giants again, you know,
1:32 especially in the middle there with those two guys,
1:34 you know, playing inside linebacker for us.
1:35 Yeah.
1:36 with their wings spans, you know,
1:37 try getting a pass through zone defense with those two
1:39 guys in the middle of your defense, right?
1:41 Yeah, exactly.
1:41 You know, upgraded our speed, our size, our length,
1:44 ball skills, you know, physicality, all those things.
1:46 So, be good additions, both of them.
1:48 What was about what you saw on tape?
1:50 You've talked about the traits, the way he played off linebacker that made
1:53 you think that is the right fit for him,
1:55 at least for the Giants in the National Football League.
1:57 Yeah, he's just an eraser.
1:59 Like, he can he can play downhill and he's so long.
2:02 Like, he he doesn't stay blocked long.
2:04 He can use quickness to avoid blocks.
2:05 He can use his hands and get off blocks.
2:07 You see the violence and shed and then the range like he can just walk
2:12 walk people down from I mean he's so fast you it jumps off the screen.
2:16 So um thought that would be the easy transition.
2:18 And then when when you when you watch him just as an edge
2:22 um you know obviously we we we have some guys there as it is.
2:25 So can he do it?
2:26 Certainly think he can.
2:27 But, you know, we just thought for for our defense
2:29 and where we are that, you know,
2:31 that's the best fit and it's his game is going to translate.
2:34 As he plays softball linebacker now, do you make sure,
2:37 all right, maybe for five minutes out of practice,
2:39 you get him with the pass rushing coach and you work on some of the moves,
2:42 you work on the hand stuff.
2:43 You know, he even said at the combine, look,
2:45 I have a lot of work to do as an edge player in terms of technique and stuff.
2:47 Is that something now that you work with him behind
2:49 the scenes and you develop that part of his game,
2:52 even if that's not his full-time position?
2:53 Yeah, I'm sure.
2:54 You know, Charlie Bolan's a heck of a coach as our outside linebacker
2:57 coach and done a really good with our outside backer since he's been here.
3:00 So, I'm sure there'll be some one-on-one um you know,
3:03 attention given to Arll in terms of developing more pass rush and you know,
3:07 even some of the blitz stuff that he'll be doing for us.
3:10 So, um you know, again, you're talking about a 20-year-old 20-year-old kid
3:13 that won't be 21 till the end of August.
3:15 And, you know, again, just the physical traits plus his makeup and how
3:19 high his ceiling is is what really gets us excited.
3:21 Did you feel like you were in a time machine
3:23 a little bit watching him play offball linebacker giving his frame?
3:26 I mean, just a visual of you, Coach Harbaugh,
3:29 Cece, and him standing on the stage on on Saturday.
3:32 Arville does not look that much smaller frame-wise than a 66, 330 lb tackle.
3:38 They don't build offball linebackers like that anymore.
3:41 Was it odd seeing a guy with that frame being
3:43 an offball linebacker on tape in in the modern era?
3:45 Yeah, it's funny.
3:46 I went to the uh I went to the Cotton Bowl,
3:48 so it was Ohio State, Miami, so I got to see both those guys play.
3:51 I was there live at that game and pregame when I
3:54 saw Arville Reese on the on the field I was just like,
3:57 "Oh my gosh, like I can't like that can't be real." But uh yeah,
4:00 I mean again just both of those guys are are prototype players.
4:04 Um they're young, they're big, physical, and and have the right football makeup.
4:08 So to add those guys to the the youth and the core
4:12 that we've already built over the last couple of years,
4:14 um you know, it's exciting and the future's bright.
4:17 All right, why don't we jump over to uh to CC now?
4:19 And much like with Arll, it's not a position change necessarily,
4:23 but you have to be in sync with your coaching
4:25 staff in terms of how you want to use the players.
4:26 So, what was that process getting on the same page, not only on Arll, but on CC,
4:30 understanding that, all right, we've seen them play tackle,
4:32 but for us, we're really good playing in the guard.
4:35 It's a new coaching staff.
4:36 You're trying to learn them, they're trying to learn you.
4:38 What was that process like getting on the same page,
4:40 especially with those first two premium picks and guys where maybe
4:43 there were some questions as to where they would fit in best?
4:46 Yeah, and again CC is another guy saw saw actually the the day after um
4:51 that Ohio State uh Texas game which I was I was at early in the year.
4:55 So had eyes on him early in the scouting process and when
4:58 you see him physically I mean he's got this boxy dense build.
5:02 He looks like a guard, right?
5:03 Looks like a guard and then you watch him slide his feet and you're like,
5:06 "Okay, well he can certainly play tackle as well." So, um,
5:09 obviously having brought, you know, Germaine back, um,
5:12 we we thought he would slide into to right
5:14 guard and it'd be an easy transition for him.
5:17 Um, you know, at his pro day,
5:19 you could see the athleticism, the quickness, the bend.
5:22 Like, there's no doubt in my mind or the staff's
5:24 mind that he would be able to do it.
5:26 And, you know, I use the example of, you know, when when I was in Miami,
5:29 we took Larry Tonsel and he played left guard his rookie
5:31 year and then we slid him back out to tackle.
5:33 So there are instances of those players where you move
5:36 them inside early on, they can move back out or you
5:38 move him inside and hopefully becomes a Pro Bowl guard
5:40 and you don't want to move him out of there.
5:43 Good problem to have, right?
5:43 Yeah, good problem to have.
5:45 A lot of people say casually, oh, he's a tackle.
5:47 Just put in the guard, you'll be fine.
5:48 But what are the specific traits that you look
5:50 for from a tackle that as an evaluator makes you believe that yeah,
5:54 that player can succeed at guard?
5:55 Yeah, and that's that's the advantage of having Chris Knee on our staff.
5:58 You know, you can talk to a guy that's done it at a really high level.
6:01 So things happen faster.
6:02 your guys get on you faster, they're quicker, they're,
6:04 you know, they're they're going to get in your chest.
6:05 And so, you got to be able to handle that.
6:07 You got to have some instincts and quickness and power.
6:09 Um, cuz at tackle, you have a little bit more space.
6:11 You know, you may have a couple steps in your pass slide before,
6:14 you know, an in or an outside backer gets their hand on you.
6:18 So, things are going to happen quicker in there.
6:19 But again, just his ability to um play firm inside.
6:24 Um, his strength, his athleticism, and and let's be honest,
6:27 like the the strength of our division, you know, was inside.
6:30 you know, there Quinnon Williams, the guys in Philly,
6:32 you there's there's a lot of good interior players in our division.
6:36 So, the ability to firm up the inside
6:38 and protect Jackson was was a priority as well.
6:41 And we feel good with the two offensive tackles we have,
6:43 too, with Germaine and and um at Yeah, no question about it.
6:48 Huddle up, get in here.
6:49 If you're lined up here, you got to go over the middle with it to score, right?
6:54 How do we make that happen?
6:56 I don't know, but Citizens does.
6:58 make sense of your money with citizens official bank of Eli Manning.
7:04 So your first three picks, you've talked about it.
7:05 You have Colton who just turned 21.
7:07 You have two players that are 20 and are going to turn 21.
7:11 Are you guys of the belief that if you draft a younger
7:13 player that gives them a longer runway and more upside down the road
7:16 or is that just happen to be a coincidence that the best
7:18 players on your board happen to fit into that category this year?
7:20 Yeah, that was just a coincidence this year and I we we
7:23 talk about it sometimes again just you know people coming out of COVID
7:26 and you know you still get some 24 and 25 year old prospects
7:29 that are on your board and that really doesn't bother me that much.
7:33 Um you know if you get them for one contract now they're 29 they graduate
7:37 and go somewhere else you make a determination
7:38 if you're going to extend them or not.
7:40 Um, so the age doesn't really bother me that much,
7:43 but the fact that these guys are young and we have them under contract,
7:45 two of them for 5 years,
7:46 like that does get me excited because I think they're both, again,
7:49 they're wired the right way with physical traits and whatever their ceiling is,
7:52 they are going to reach it.
7:53 So, um, again, that gets me excited.
7:56 You talked about the tangibles with CC,
7:58 but I think on the offensive line, part of it's intangible, right?
8:01 You want a kid that's going to set
8:03 the tone and really make the defensive line feel them.
8:07 Do you feel like he can be that intangible tone setter with a little
8:11 bit of a nasty streak to give that offensive line some attitude?
8:14 Yeah, for sure.
8:15 And and that shows up in his play, the way he plays.
8:17 And then just being around him as a as a kid,
8:20 you know, he's he's a mature 20-year-old.
8:21 He's fun to be around.
8:23 Um John Feliciano, who used to to be here, uh he was here in 2022.
8:28 Um CeCe actually worked out at this place called TripleF in Knoxville.
8:31 Him and John Feliciano and Lee Smith um run the place.
8:35 So had some intel there and you know they just
8:37 talked about him being around the facility all the time.
8:39 He's in there early working out.
8:40 He wants to get extra work.
8:41 He's in there late just hanging out.
8:42 Just just loves ball and wants to be great.
8:45 And when you get that from guys that are
8:47 are training him and you know nobody else
8:49 is watching like CeCe didn't have to be
8:51 there and you hear those guys talk about that.
8:53 I mean again just it gets you excited
8:55 and you know to see not only just the mentality
8:58 and attitude that he's going to bring
8:59 to to the uh to the team but just the production.
9:02 Yeah.
9:02 John play with the chip on his shoulder here.
9:05 So, if he could take some of that, that would be a good thing.
9:07 John's like, I'd love to come back and play with this kid.
9:08 Like, he fit in great.
9:10 I knew exactly what that meant when John said that.
9:12 That's a good thing.
9:12 All right.
9:12 Colton Hood.
9:13 Um, he's a guy that's a physical press corner.
9:16 So, you automatically think, all right, cover one guy,
9:18 but Dinard Wilson not necessarily a cover one heavy defensive coordinator,
9:22 but he plays a lot of quarters, but that kind of includes press.
9:25 So talk to us a little about how the fit is going to work for a guy
9:28 that's a pressman corner in the system
9:30 that Dinard Wilson's going to play in the secondary.
9:33 Yeah, if you ask any any defensive coordinator around the league,
9:36 like man coverage, like that's what they want.
9:38 Like if you can play man, then we can figure out the rest.
9:40 So um Colton Hood's ability to play man is is outstanding.
9:44 His his ball skills, you know, former baseball player that can really track it.
9:48 Um what stands out down the field is the kid doesn't panic.
9:50 like you know you see some of these corners down there,
9:52 they're grabbing, panicking, you know, they lose the ball,
9:54 they get turned around, doesn't look natural, very calm,
9:56 very natural down the field, always in good position.
9:59 Um, so that's the coverage aspect.
10:01 Then the physicality aspect of it,
10:02 like this kid will come up and tackle, he'll get off blocks.
10:05 He's strong.
10:06 Um, you know, you need corners to tackle.
10:08 You know, they got to be part of the run fits as well.
10:10 So, uh, Colton showed the ability to do that.
10:12 and just a phenomenal young man too after spending
10:14 time with him and um you know another guy
10:16 that has tremendous upside has the physical talent
10:20 and and the right football makeup to reach his ceiling as well.
10:23 Only a one-year full-time starter though.
10:24 So what are some of the areas as he gets more
10:26 playing time where you think his game can continue to ascend?
10:29 Yeah, and he was behind a couple good players out at Colorado a year ago.
10:32 So understand that.
10:34 Um, so yeah, again, one-year starter in the SEC and, you know,
10:37 stepped up to the competition and played at a high level,
10:39 which was which was impressive and still still a young young athlete.
10:43 And again, we it's going to be really good competition.
10:46 You know, it's it's not a situation where he has to come
10:48 in, we have to throw him to the fire right away,
10:50 but he's certainly going to be competing for a spot.
10:52 So, you know, with Pollson and Greg and, you know, Tay Banks,
10:55 you know, looked really good in the volunteer mini camp last week.
10:57 Drew Phillips, um, you know, so we got some some really good depth,
11:01 you know, at the at the corner position.
11:02 you know, we got five guys um you know, that have played, you know,
11:06 at a at a high level in the league and or well,
11:09 four and then, you know, bringing Colton in.
11:11 So, um you know, I'm excited how that group plays out.
11:13 We went from, you know,
11:14 maybe needing some depth to having really good depth at that position now.
11:18 Do you see Nome as a guy that can move inside if you need him
11:21 or do you see him more as an outside guy when you brought him in?
11:23 Yeah, saw him more outside, but after watching him move around last week,
11:26 I mean, Nome is smooth, he's fluid, he's twitched up.
11:29 So that that was one of the good parts of having the voluntary mini camp
11:32 last week with the vets is you get to see some of the the new
11:35 players that you brought in move around and Newsome's one that I was certainly
11:38 impressed with just watching him move around
11:40 and his hips and explosiveness and speed.
11:42 So um again we're going to have really good depth there.
11:44 It's going to be really good competition come camp time.
11:46 All let's jump to Malachi Fields heading into the process.
11:49 I watched all his Notre Dame stuff and then after he
11:51 got drafted everyone's like go watch his Virginia tape is it's
11:53 a little bit different and I did and you know what
11:56 a lot more run after the catch stuff stuff more over the middle.
11:59 So, as Giant fans kind of get to learn these guys,
12:01 do you envision more as the player the way
12:03 Notre Dame used them or more of the player
12:06 the way Virginia used them with maybe a little
12:07 bit more of a varied route tree and usage?
12:09 Yeah, I would say it's going to be a combination of both.
12:11 That is what you know, you're watching the Notre Dame stuff,
12:13 you don't see there's not as much versatility in the route content.
12:16 It's all like vertical comebacks, vertical stuff.
12:18 Yeah.
12:19 Yeah.
12:19 So, um but we do that.
12:21 We do two and threeear studies on these guys.
12:23 We'll go back and watch, you know,
12:24 as much film as we can to Okay, we've seen it once.
12:28 Okay, how do we get him to do it again?
12:30 Whatever it may be.
12:30 So, um, again, for his size, his ability to drop his weight, you know,
12:34 sometimes you get these bigger guys, 6'4 and a half,
12:36 you know, they're stiff, they can't get out of cuts.
12:38 Like, Malachi can drop his weight.
12:40 He can get in and out of the breaks.
12:41 Uh, former quarterback in high school,
12:43 so he can see it through the quarterback's eyes, you know,
12:45 his angles back to the ball, the catch radius,
12:48 the hands, and then he's a big body.
12:50 He's 218 pounds.
12:51 He's going to be tough for some of these, you know,
12:52 190lb corners to to bring down.
12:54 And then he's going to help us in the run game.
12:56 He's a phenomenal run blocker.
12:57 He's obviously a big body.
12:58 He's strong.
12:59 So, you know, again, he brings us a different body type, too.
13:03 You know, a big strong uh body type opposite of Malik.
13:06 You know, you got likely in there, Theo.
13:08 You know, we're going to we're going to have some size,
13:10 strength, and physicality, you know, across the board.
13:12 I think when people hear contested catches,
13:13 they automatically think, all right, well,
13:15 deep ball down the side and the guy jumps over him, he makes the catch, right?
13:18 But I think for a guy like Fields,
13:19 especially when you watch some of the Virginia stuff,
13:21 his ability on some of the slants and, you know,
13:24 some of the hook crawl stuff where he's in a crowded area to really
13:27 get his hands out there and extend them in front of the defender.
13:29 To me, that that gives Jackson,
13:31 especially on maybe some third and short, third and mediums,
13:34 real easy decisions, right?
13:35 If he's got position on a smaller DB,
13:38 just put the ball in his radius, he's going to catch it, right?
13:40 Yeah.
13:40 Put in the right zip code.
13:41 He's going to come down with it.
13:42 Yeah.
13:42 and some of those inbreakers,
13:43 he can box out the the smaller corners and um you know,
13:46 again, it's like a power forward body type out there.
13:48 Um you know, again, we we haven't had that really since I've been here.
13:51 If you want to know how to manage
13:52 2 minutes of crunchtime football, I'm your man.
13:54 But if you're wondering about a long-term financial plan,
13:57 you should talk to Citizens.
13:58 Hey, I can also talk lawn care.
14:00 I'd like to learn about a mowing routine.
14:02 Yes, I knew I could help make sense of your money with Citizens.
14:06 All right, I want to knock out the uh day three guys here.
14:08 Bobby Jameson Travis, big body, obviously.
14:10 Uh he's an older prospect.
14:11 He's going to be 25 this year.
14:13 The run defense stuff is pretty easy to see on tape.
14:15 What do you see potentially as some upside from him as a pass rusher,
14:18 maybe as a pocket pusher?
14:19 What do you see from him in that regard?
14:20 Yeah, that would be the upside for him.
14:22 Probably pocket pusher would be a good way to put it.
14:24 But, um, you know, we got we got to get to third down to, you know,
14:27 get the best out of our, you know,
14:28 rushers and Arll and and these these other toys that we have.
14:32 So, you know, to, you know,
14:33 coach has talked since he since he arrived about stopping the run and, you know,
14:36 Bobby's going to help us do that.
14:37 you know, he is a big, powerful, long, tough to move uh player.
14:42 So, you know, that's really where, you know,
14:44 his value is going to come on base downs,
14:46 first and second down, and and and help get us to third down.
14:49 You guys mentioned JC Davis as a potential swing tackle and guard.
14:52 Uh he went from, I think, Jo, right?
14:55 Then he went to a smaller school, then he jumped up to Illinois.
14:57 So, he's shown the ability to improve.
15:00 What are some of the areas he still needs to continue to work on and get
15:02 better at to work his way maybe
15:04 into a potential starting offensive line spot down the road?
15:07 Yeah, and that'll be interesting because, you know,
15:09 we may start him at tackle, may move him into guard.
15:11 Again, he's going to have to have versatility.
15:12 You know, that's what comes with, you know,
15:14 making the roster and being one of the top nine or 10, whatever we keep.
15:18 And u, you know, he's certainly athletic.
15:19 He's long.
15:20 Uh he's he's strong.
15:22 You know, probably for him just, you know,
15:23 the finish, you know, just finish more consistently.
15:25 And these are things we talked about him on the 30
15:27 visit and he's he's fired up to get here.
15:29 and um to us show him those clips what
15:31 the expectation is and and you know cuz he certainly
15:34 got the athleticism and and the size and length
15:36 to to do it and to play in this league.
15:38 So he's a guy that you know the staff myself
15:41 uh the scouting staff we were all motivated to work with.
15:43 So um you know again we'll see he's a sixth round pick that that has
15:47 traits and and upside and the versatility is a big component of it.
15:50 Did you learn how to scout competitive
15:53 BMX biking tape when you drafted Jack Kelly?
15:56 Jack Kelly.
15:56 Yeah.
15:56 How about that?
15:57 Yeah.
15:57 I actually went to high school with a kid that did that.
15:59 So, when I saw that, I was like, man, I haven't heard about that in a long time.
16:01 But, uh, yeah, Jack is a guy that jumped off the screen, too.
16:04 I mean, he's a 451 guy that's got size and has been super productive.
16:09 So, you get down there in the sixth round, you know,
16:11 guy with 31 and a half career sacks between Weaver State,
16:13 BYU, he can blitz, he can play side to side,
16:16 and then the special teams component,
16:17 you know, obviously with Arll and, you know,
16:19 Micah and Tmaine, you know, as the, you know,
16:22 probably the top three inside linebackers.
16:24 Um, you know, fourth Allen's going to be important for Jack.
16:26 And then, you know, I'm kind of interested to see
16:28 how we utilize him potentially on defense cuz he
16:30 does have um a lot of production off the edge
16:33 blitzing probably one of the better blitzers in the draft.
16:35 Um and then the production off the edge from the outside backer
16:38 spot may give us another chest piece on, you know, third downs.
16:41 If you look at his um developmental track,
16:44 do you kind of look at what Micah McFaten did when he got here?
16:47 Because he was a guy kind of a boxy, you know, not as long offball linebacker.
16:51 He had a lot of pass rushing success there, too.
16:52 maybe not as an edge player, but as a blitzer,
16:54 but just how you start him in special teams,
16:56 then he slowly learns and learns and kind of works his way into a bigger role.
17:00 Yeah, exactly.
17:00 And what you'll see about these guys that we drafted,
17:02 they all have the right, you know, football character and personal character.
17:05 So, um, they're going to come in, they're going to work hard,
17:07 they're going to do everything they can to maximize their ability.
17:09 So, I could certainly see that path for Jack,
17:11 you know, come out, be a standout four core guy,
17:13 contribute on special teams while we continue
17:15 to develop you as a defensive player,
17:17 and again, maybe a package player early on just because of his versatility.
17:20 But, uh, certainly expect fourth down to be a be a key contributor for us there.
17:24 I know you like to have as many picks as you can.
17:26 How close were you to any trade downs over the course
17:28 of the draft to try to pick us some extra picks?
17:30 Yeah, in the second round, um, you know,
17:32 we had talked we had some options in the second round,
17:33 but if if Colton Hood was there, we were just going to stay and pick.
17:36 So, um, the fact that he was there, you know,
17:39 we, you know, he's a guy that we we really liked.
17:41 We're a little bit surprised he was there at 37.
17:43 And, you know, throughout the day, we're like,
17:45 hey, if if if Colton Hood's there, we're going to stay and pick and, you know,
17:48 we'll just tell these other teams we're not going to do it.
17:50 But yeah, it was certainly tempting, but you never want to pass on a corner,
17:53 you know, at that point in the draft that you really like.
17:55 Final two questions.
17:56 You talked about being out there at mini camp last week,
17:58 seeing coach's vision on the field for the first time.
18:01 You mentioned some of the players that you got here, seeing them in there.
18:04 What are some of the things you kind of learned about the program
18:06 coach Harbaugh is building from seeing it on the field for the first time?
18:10 Yeah, it's going to be detail oriented.
18:11 Um, you know, we're already talking about things
18:13 in the the team meeting on the boards around the facility,
18:16 you know, you know, whatever it may be.
18:18 you know, staying on sides versus a hard count.
18:19 We're showing that, you know, it's just it's just a detail across everything.
18:22 Um, you know, the importance of that.
18:24 You know, guys were out there, they were moving around,
18:26 running from drill to drill and, you know, to me it's just the discipline,
18:29 the situational football, the things that were already practicing.
18:32 Um, you know, has really stood out.
18:34 I really like our staff.
18:35 You know, we got a really strong coaching staff,
18:37 a lot of smart guys, a lot of hard workers,
18:39 and, you know, that mirrors the the makeup of the team
18:42 and and the players that we have on the roster.
18:44 All right.
18:44 And then finally, building a roster.
18:45 The work is never done, right?
18:46 You have draft UDFAS, right?
18:49 Undrafted free agents,
18:50 more veterans are still out there now that the compensatory
18:52 pick formula is kind of out of the way.
18:54 What are some of the areas in the roster that you're
18:55 really kind of locked in, focusing on, still trying to get
18:57 this team and roster to where you want it to be
19:00 to start training camp and then eventually to start the regular season?
19:03 Yeah, it never stops.
19:04 Even if it's, you know, player 90,
19:06 who whoever it is, we're going to continue one more move,
19:08 one more move incrementally every everywhere,
19:11 every position um to have the best camp roster
19:14 we can have and the most competitive camp roster.
19:16 So, um, you know, it's well known.
19:18 We're we're looking at some veteran defensive tackles.
19:20 Um, and and and besides that, it's just regardless of position, you know,
19:24 if it's our 13th receiver, okay, can is there somebody out there that's better?
19:27 Our 10th receiver, is there somebody better?
19:29 Our sixth back, is there somebody out there better?
19:31 So, we still have rookie mini camp coming up.
19:33 There's there's vets on the street.
19:34 There's going to maybe be some post June one cuts or, you know,
19:37 cap casualties post draft.
19:38 So, we're going to continue to monitor the waiver wire.
19:41 You know, what's on the street, you know,
19:42 the rookie mini camp's an opportunity to look at players as well.
19:45 We found a couple players out of rookie mini camp the last couple of years.
19:48 So, um you know, we're going to take that seriously
19:49 and make sure we get a good evaluation on all those players.
19:52 So, uh it never really stops for us.
19:54 We're always looking to get better though.
19:55 I hope you took time to take a deep breath,
19:57 maybe have an adult beverage after the draft
19:59 with a long process finally being over.
20:02 Yeah, absolutely.
20:02 Absolutely.
20:03 I'm glad it's over.
20:03 Come up for air now, but uh like I said,
20:05 we we still got work to do and we're going to continue
20:07 to uh try to upgrade the roster the best we can.
20:09 Hey, congratulations on the draft, Joe.
20:11 Appreciate it and good luck the rest of the offseason.
20:13 All right.
20:13 Appreciate it.
