0:00 coming up huh just let's keep going [Music]

1:07 [Music] this is the place that's the one everyone

1:23 calm down oh there it is that's the one

1:29 that we came for everyone stay cool stay calm

1:32 okay I don't want to look too interested we

1:35 got to get a good deal here alinaa B12

1:40 6.0 only 94 examples were ever made 202 examples

1:44 of the 5.7 lit but this is the daddy

1:47 the daddy of old daddies the 6 L 12 cylinder Alpena and I just spat all over

1:53 it finished in Oxford green and it's neglected

1:57 and it's within my price range still expensive but I

2:01 think we can we can make it work

2:03 A Brief History lesson about BMW V12 and Alpena BMW's

2:07 first in Germany's first post-war V12 was the 5

2:10 L M70 with 300 silent horsepower designed by Adolf

2:15 aif Fisher in 1983 who by the way built

2:18 his first combustion engine at the age of 15

2:20 what were you doing when you were 15 I bet not that not to brag but he

2:24 designed the M70 in Just 2 months you

2:27 can't see it but I'm shaking my brain bucket

2:29 in this believe later followed the successor m73 V12

2:33 with increased displacement to 5.4 L and 326 SME horsepower

2:39 meanwhile BMW M Engineers took the m712 pumper

2:43 and created the S70 V12 with 5.6 L and 375

2:48 horsepower which was used in the E31 850 CSI

2:52 enter Alpena with the B12 the B12 was based

2:56 first on e32 E31 and finally E38 first came

3:01 the E31 and e32 b12 5.0 the engine was based on the M70 which Al penat tuned

3:08 to make 350 horsepower this placement was unchanged from 5

3:12 L as the name suggests E31 B12 5.7 came after which is a Holy Grail all on its

3:19 own it was based on the S70 V12 from the CSI but Alpena hot doged it to produce

3:25 a rather impressive 416 horsepower in 199 too

3:30 that right there is a super car man E38

3:33 B12 5.7 was spawned in 1995 which had its

3:37 engine based on the Now new m73 12 cylinder

3:41 tuned to produce 387 horsepower 202 units were

3:45 made in total and finally 1999 saw the E38 B12 6.0 also based on the m73 it is

3:53 the largest and most powerful na engine ever produced

3:56 by Alpena with 430 horsepower and 600 newm of torque

4:00 it turned this four-door Luxo barge into a comfortable

4:04 eat anything in its way autoban rocket hell

4:08 it's a super car actually faster than the Ferrari

4:10 f355 in the period with only 94 examples made

4:14 by Alpena perhaps now you can understand my borderline

4:17 insane zestful all right we got to find

4:20 Fabian and then unlock this beauty but I'm very

4:23 excited I don't know if you can tell but I'm pumped up bit 12 oh my God so

4:32 when you when you sent me an email yeah

4:34 I actually jumped out of my chair yeah yeah

4:37 because this is the one that I always wanted B12 got the keys got a key okay I

4:42 can we look yes please thank you so much

4:44 feel it long the first thing that you need

4:46 to know the crime has been committed here I'll show you that in a bit it's under

4:51 the hood ah it has that E38 smell the steering

4:57 wheel is actually smaller than the standard e 38

5:00 steering wheel but if you come here you

5:02 can see one little thing there that's part

5:04 of the crime that's been committed you know what

5:06 that is yeah if you know then yeah Al B12

5:16 Contour seats letter Dash heated seats little bit

5:22 of everything and this one is number 24 but let

5:27 me show you the crime normally I'll B12

5:30 6.0 is very very expensive but the reason why

5:33 this one is within my price range it's because

5:35 a crime has been committed here it's been desecrated

5:39 we [Applause] have LPG installed what in the name

5:46 of window licking someone at some point paid €300,000

5:50 for a very rare Alpena b12 with a 6

5:54 L V12 engine and their biggest concern was saving

5:59 on fuel it's like you're dating Jessica Alba

6:02 but you treat her to McDonald's every single day because

6:04 it's cheaper and just for the record I

6:08 still have more subscribers than Jessica Al I have

6:10 her licked I don't wish I did so yeah

6:14 we have gas actual gas not petrol but actual

6:19 gas powered V12 ala I I can't believe it I just I can't but on the other hand

6:27 it's a good thing because it means we can

6:29 get get this car cheaper on the other hand

6:32 I have huge concerns how did they install

6:34 this thing I mean I can already see that they

6:36 drilled into this beautiful intake moneyold so did

6:40 they actually remove the intake manifolds and then drill

6:42 into them or did they do it while they

6:44 were on the engine so there's risk of having

6:46 metal shavings in the engine and therefore risk

6:48 of having sored cylinders I don't know there's also lines

6:52 and stuff running all over the place so what

6:54 else did they drill into or damage the body

6:57 we have two stupid tanks in the trunk we got to delete all of this but we can't

7:02 just start ripping things apart there's probably a way

7:04 to do it I don't have experience with LPG

7:07 at all what I was told is that it was very very expensive to install this and it

7:10 does look somewhat tidy I mean you can see

7:12 some brackets here with very crappy welding and it's

7:16 already rusting I mean already this has been

7:18 done probably a long long time ago but it

7:20 doesn't matter it's still alpino B12 it's still

7:23 a beautiful Alpena B12 Oxford green so standard BMW color

7:28 it's not unfortunately Alpena green but so far it

7:30 looks in decent shape this is original paint Here

7:33 original paint as well yeah last stle change

7:36 in 2011 brakes not too bad a little bit

7:40 Rusty tires yeah 2009 dangerous it's been keyed which

7:46 is really unfortunate so huge scratch here and here

7:52 a really really deep one and this door looks

7:56 like it's been painted I got to double check

7:59 but rust no rust there the seal here shot

8:04 let's see bottom of the doors that all looks

8:08 good here starting ever so slightly this corner

8:13 here also I can see on the inner Edge

8:15 a little bit of rough starting it is a German

8:17 car after all tail lights this is very typical for the E38 this one is fogged up

8:23 and then this one here is yellow Alpena tips quad

8:29 tips this trim here is a little bit beat

8:32 up the emblem is gone another filed tail light

8:36 it does have orange side markers in the front

8:38 and the back as well which kind of looks

8:40 good with Oxford green we have four Keys

8:44 two main ones whatever this is and a valet

8:46 key let's see the fuel filler tank ah so this is the port for the LPG I

8:52 still cannot believe that someone put LPG on this car

8:57 so a little bit of rust every so

8:59 slightly I'm not even going to call that rust this is good but boys and girls we

9:05 are standing next to an Alena B12 so if

9:08 you come in the trunk of the [Applause] car

9:13 oh my God look at this look at that that's the LPG tank yep there what there are

9:22 like two tanks I don't know anything about lpgs

9:25 just so we're clear I've never had a car with this system but we need to rip

9:28 this out my biggest concern is that they drilled

9:31 and cut so much into the chassi to install

9:33 this nonsense then even when we take it out we're

9:37 going to have leftover traces of it o it

9:39 has automatic tailgate which doesn't work took it we

9:47 have the original cloth look at that you can't

9:51 buy that anymore you can only buy reproduction parts

9:54 so that's super cool and then if you come

9:58 inside we have beige letter but Alpena beige letter

10:02 so we have Alpena embroidery here on the seats

10:06 as well and the interior is in really really

10:08 nice shape I love the steering wheel I love

10:11 the fact that Alpena actually made the steering wheel

10:13 smaller cuz I always thought if remember on Project

10:15 Dubai I actually changed the steering wheel because it

10:18 was too big a lot of people complained

10:20 I installed the E39 faft steering wheel but look

10:23 at this this one does feel smaller than

10:27 the original E38 steering wheel beautiful Alpena gauges I mean

10:31 all of their cars are super special but this one

10:33 if you from the entire very rich Alpena history I think this is the car that I

10:39 would pick E38 6 L 12 cylinder engine because

10:43 E38 it's for me and for many the best

10:47 looking four-door sedan alongside E39 M5 but maybe

10:50 this even has advantage over E39 M5 cuz

10:53 this is such a good looking car even the cup

10:57 holders work headliner is still in good shape

11:01 this is amazing I'm in love already and I think

11:05 I'm going to buy it but you should see

11:08 what's going through my head right now Alpina B12

11:11 man you're not dreaming just remember you're not

11:15 dreaming you are however standing in the middle

11:18 of the field surrounded by geese next to a muddy

11:21 river wearing a green blue coat two hats

11:23 and a steering wheel cover cuz you can't remember

11:25 where you put your hat and drinking imaginary coffee

11:28 no the coffee is real what we're discussing here

11:30 Alpa B12 more projects the question is can I really

11:32 do more projects I already have 2,674 of them

11:36 you know everyone is going to be like oh

11:38 buying more projects and not finishing the old ones

11:41 just St some duck great but I think they'll

11:44 understand it's Alpena B12 the 6 lit one it

11:47 is as rare as it gets facelift how can

11:50 they be mad they're always too expensive never within

11:52 my reach and this one is when is another

11:54 one going to come up like that when you got to do it once in a lifetime

11:57 opportunity they'll understand they are very good audience they

11:59 are the best audience let's do it let's do

12:04 it Alena stickers you can see here approvals

12:07 for the tires for this car Michelin Pilot not 2

12:10 three four five just pilot the very first one

12:13 I guess that's how old this car is we

12:15 don't have cocaine tables in the back which is

12:17 a shame it's always a good option to have

12:21 but it's very clean man ooh heated rear

12:24 seats my wife would like that the command center

12:28 don't have that original first aid kit expired

12:32 in 2009 sounds about right cuz this car has been

12:36 off to Road at least what Fabian told me

12:39 for about 10 years I mean last to change

12:41 2011 so probably even more last year they drove

12:44 it here here mhm and yeah we should repair

12:49 it but uh it's a lot of work thank you so much thank you so much for emailing

12:54 me man thank you I'm really really excited I

12:58 barely slept last night it's B12 man this is

13:02 the Holy Grail E38 this is the one it's not the 5.7 but the 6 lit right

13:08 right holy crap Oxford green is a beautiful color

13:12 today is a bit gloomy so you can't see

13:14 it properly but there's plenty of time for that let's

13:17 start the Magnificent wi12 that starter sound starts

13:26 up really really smooth I don't know if it's

13:30 running on petrol or LPG now I can hear

13:34 something in the front rattling Ah that's the stupid

13:40 air pumps for the secondary air system but I

13:42 that it sounds really smooth sounds good yeah

13:45 we can take it inside now so we're going

13:48 to drive it inside put it on the lift see how it is from underneath cuz this is

13:51 a do and I don't mean as made

13:54 in Germany I mean driven in Germany which means there's

13:57 a high potential of rust underneath is it now

13:59 running on on petrol or LPG petrol petrol okay

14:03 in an era where BMW M5 with 2.4 tons is a thing that sounds like a cow

14:08 getting its ass probed and where the new

14:10 seven series looks like a thing that came out

14:11 of the Cow's Ass this Timeless Masterpiece looks sounds

14:15 and feels right from every angle and every end

14:20 up it goes this is a really nice lift I like so far no rust ah yeah I forgot

14:33 the E38 has a metal fuel tank which has a bit of a dent here and it's starting

14:39 to rust not a big deal though so here we are underneath of the B12 and this is

14:44 what I was afraid of Haw jabber has taken

14:47 place here so they drilled into the spare wheel

14:50 well to run the cables and whatever else there's

14:53 something there there as well that there that's part

14:57 of the self-leveling in the back back but so

15:02 far as far as rust goes it looks pretty

15:06 decent uh upper control arms shocks you has self-leveling

15:11 in the back that's not leaking it looks quite

15:14 okay subframe a little bit Rusty o that clamp

15:17 is really rusty to diff as well but the main

15:21 thing that I'm concerned about is the rust

15:22 on the chassis and so far it looks really

15:25 good so I don't think this car was driven that much in Winter if at all so

15:29 the left rear shock is leaking and this car

15:31 has self-leveling in the back I don't even know

15:33 if that's available from BMW but they can be

15:35 rebuilt so that's the good news so it has

15:38 alpino specific exhaust and if you compare like

15:41 this here with project HDE this looks mint it looks

15:45 beautiful no rust I can't see the jacking points

15:48 a little bit there there's oh that's a rusty

15:52 brake line actually that's going to have to be

15:55 fixed for too but the floor looks in really

15:58 good condition we have the 5-speed automatic transmission

16:02 same one that project Dubai had but this one

16:05 has Alpena specific software on it so it's going

16:08 to work a lot better so it still has all of the covers and stuff all that looks

16:12 great big calipers I think I don't know I

16:16 don't know if it has stock 750 calipers

16:19 or use bigger ones I got to check that suspension

16:22 looks mainly stock shots are not leaking it has

16:25 EDC shocks which is really cool really really like

16:28 that if if you remember someone deleted that on Project

16:31 Dubai we have a leak from a power

16:34 steering pump but most likely power steering line

16:37 it's coming from the top over there somewhere not

16:40 going to take apart anything right now Rusty dream

16:44 plug yeah that that hasn't been off in 10

16:47 plus years so so far what I'm seeing I like it it looks really good so it also

16:51 has different cats Alpena specific so high flowing exhaust

16:55 that's about as far as we can see underneath

16:58 of the car I again just deleting this stupid

17:00 LPG system man we have to replace the entire

17:04 wheel well to get this done right such

17:07 a shame they did that that looks poorly done

17:10 I got to say that doesn't look nice at all so E38 for some stupid reason has

17:16 a metal fuel tank and as you can see this part here has a dent and it's starting

17:23 to rust it almost looks like it's been patched

17:26 I'm being honest so there's that I mean it's

17:31 nothing serious but something to keep in mind yeah

17:35 the seals look really good really really good so

17:39 despite being a German car it's not doesn't have

17:42 rust nothing that I would qualify as bad well

17:46 just spotted first bit of rust on the body

17:48 you see there in the corner of the rear

17:51 right door it's not that there as well little bit starting a lot lots of Swirls

17:59 and scratches you can see it's been painted you

18:02 can see that there that's a dust spec see

18:06 that that means it's been painted you won't get

18:09 that with factory paint so I'm not sure if

18:11 the entire car has been painted cuz the front

18:13 Wings Fender look original bumper I would say looks original

18:16 as well lots of rock chips and stuff

18:20 original fog lights decent shape let's see this side

18:25 and then you can see yeah rust bubbling there

18:29 on the bottom of the doors here you can see

18:31 some stuff happening as well on the edge so

18:34 yeah overall I'm quite happy I think we're going

18:36 to lower the car now oh he's bringing

18:38 in the books yep it looks quite good underneath yeah

18:42 except for the LPG stuff in the back but yeah what are you going to do makes

18:48 no sense no it's absolutely no but Bill about

18:54 kind of 10 12,000 to install really oh holy

18:59 crap a so too certified and everything yeah yeah

19:03 yeah you got to do that probably the only

19:05 alpino with LPG these pictures are actually found

19:08 online you can find them on Alpena archives because

19:10 this is number 24 so this is the original

19:13 registration paper tooth documents ah LPG when was it

19:17 done in 2007 so he didn't drive that much

19:20 with LPG so he said something with the engine

19:22 was done or uhuh so he has the service

19:25 book as well RT motor mhm the inclusive change

19:35 by 8,495 so replacement engine in 2005 rle time

19:42 russle time so need a last so you had a fresh engine in 2005 y interesting why

19:51 I don't know good question yeah I mean I'm

19:53 not aware of any big problems with these engines

19:55 but yeah this is really rich history last here

19:59 for 16 km or so with red blades it

20:03 drives but you feel the vibrations you cannot do

20:06 only 70 km per hour because the tires so

20:10 oh yeah I can see that they're from 2009

20:14 unbelievable 17 no way look at this it had

20:19 an oil change done I'm not going to show his name but oil change done at Mr Wash

20:25 which is like the cheapest possible place it's like

20:28 JY in America Mr Wash €25 AA B12 in Mr Wash K you fantastic this is a car

20:35 for me brilliant yeah if you had anut collector

20:39 here he would be running for the Hills right

20:40 about now but this is amazing I like it so what do we have here oh Alpena

20:45 key for the rims this is for the radio look at this come to me so this is

20:50 the book from Alpena it's in Deutch of course

20:54 you have a letter here from Bad Boven Zen

20:57 fortunately we lost him last last year very sad

20:59 but what the man did with linaa is astonishing

21:02 you can see approval for the tires how

21:05 to check the tire pressure and stuff all right

21:07 I guess we can lower it and then I can just take a quick look on the Neath

21:10 of the engine have you seen the the rust in the trunk yeah is when you lift

21:15 on the bottom right no on the left side

21:17 I didn't see no the typical spot where E38 rust

21:20 even project Dubai despite being from Japan and Dubai

21:24 had a bit of rust here so here if you lift this rubber yeah you can see

21:32 that there there's the rest it's not bad so

21:35 this needs to be cleaned up treated so it

21:37 doesn't spread but this is where moisture collects you

21:41 can see so you get a bit of rust here but which rust were you talking about here

21:48 oh okay that I didn't see I believe maybe

21:51 at an accident huh the plot thickens yeah that's

21:56 bad rust man but this doesn't look like it's

21:58 been replaced no no unless they replace the whole

22:03 thing maybe underneath the rer but this is um

22:08 kind of serious I guess it looks it looks

22:15 fun you know what I think that part there

22:18 has been painted if you compare it here you

22:20 can see how the finish is matte yeah yeah

22:23 you're right this one is matte and this one

22:25 is all glossy this has clear coat on it

22:27 definitely so this side here has been something happened

22:30 here and you can see a paint line here

22:34 from the tape so this entire section has been

22:36 painted here something happened here an accident unfall so

22:41 yeah something happened in this corner of the car

22:43 yeah that corner was expertly put back together

22:46 after an accident occurred more than that later ah

22:50 beautiful so so just make everything one word 169

23:00 120 to 140 is normally original paint 258 is

23:06 definitely repainted so let's see have bundle somewhere

23:15 350 311 400 so something happened here this door

23:24 repainted 462 969 there's a bit of BND here

23:32 166 150 so maybe the roof is original painted let for sure hood is 150 137 so

23:42 the front fenders are 120 original paint like I said

23:47 in the beginning yeah this one is original paint

23:51 as well this door 140 original paint 200 213 347 so this has been painted so not

24:09 a lot of original paint left here again not great

24:12 for Alpena collector but great for me so it's

24:15 been pretty much completely repainted apart from the hood

24:17 maybe and the left uh Fender this here is of course the concern for me but you

24:23 can see a paint line over there but that can be wet sanded a little bit and then

24:27 of course that rough needs to be fixed

24:29 and we need to really remove everything in this area

24:32 to see what's going on there so if you look at the right side you can see how

24:36 it's matte this is Factory finish and then if you come here you can see how it

24:42 becomes kind of glossy so that's where they painted

24:46 you can see that this part here has clear

24:48 coat lock and that means this entire has

24:52 been repainted we need to remove this trim here

24:54 and look inside o it has double glazing as well

24:57 really good for the noise on the auto button

24:59 but it does have the stupid sunroof it is what it is Beggars can't be truers so

25:04 the engine is actually based on the m73 engine

25:08 so the one that we put in uh project Marse

25:10 E31 but Alpena hot docked this engine so different

25:16 cams intake ported heads different Pistons stroked board out

25:21 and of course different tune map different exhausts I

25:25 don't know about the headers I think the headers

25:27 can't really see maybe the they changed the headers

25:29 as well and they got 430 horsepower out of this unit stock is 326 and 600 newm

25:36 of torque but here's the fun fun bit this car

25:38 has 500 newm at only 1,700 RPM nuts

25:45 my only concern is how did they install this you

25:47 know did they maybe take this off and then

25:51 drill or did they drill with this on the engine

25:53 if they did then maybe there's metal shavings

25:55 in the engine and then you get sore cylinders

25:58 no it's glued no it's glued it's glued

26:01 but so that's kind of shitty work there yeah

26:05 for a lot of money they drilled and then they used RTV to seal it which is

26:09 fascinating P way honestly I don't think they did

26:13 I think J for that really really small because

26:15 I mean if you're going to drill how

26:17 are you going to stop metal shavings from going

26:18 into the engine yeah and if even if you

26:20 get a little bit of aluminum shavings this block

26:23 is going to be gone because it's alocal y

26:26 it's not cast iron so there are lot lot of ifs with this car out of house Kun

26:30 is the largest Alpena dealer in Europe and second

26:33 largest in the world they have an astonishing

26:36 collection of cars and the best showroom I've seen

26:39 in a BMW dealership guys have been awesome throughout

26:41 the process and this place is definitely worth a visit

26:44 if you're in the area or passing by or looking to buy a car that's a Z1 Alpena
