0:04 Welcome in to the latest edition of extra time.

0:06 We've received a letter.

0:07 We'll get to that a little bit later on.

0:09 But, let's start off with "See Dan,

0:12 there are no layups." This was when I was suggesting yesterday

0:15 that Arsenal had a rather lovely running with Crystal Palace and Burnley.

0:19 And uh They're obviously suggesting that I

0:22 said Everton as well, which I did not.

0:24 I did not say it was going to be a layup.

0:28 You didn't.

0:29 I'll tell you what you did say.

0:30 You didn't go, "Oh, that's a tricky fixture for City."

0:33 Oh, I wonder what happened when we previewed it yesterday and I said,

0:35 "Does anybody think City are going to drop points?" And nobody said,

0:37 [music] "Yes, I think that they will."

0:40 What's that got to do with saying something's a layup?

0:43 But, I never said it was a layup.

0:44 why would anybody say Everton's going to beat them or draw with them?

0:49 Well, cuz you said

0:50 same [clears throat] way In the In the same way Hold on.

0:52 In the same way In the same way we're going to say, "Well,

0:56 nobody's going to say that Arsenal's going

0:58 to lose to West Ham or Burnley or Palace.

1:01 They're not." Right.

1:02 But, that doesn't mean they're

1:03 But, that doesn't mean they're layups.

1:04 Right.

1:05 Thank you.

1:05 Okay.

1:06 Premier League still boring.

1:08 What do you think?

1:09 Who said it's been boring?

1:10 Not today.

1:11 Not today?

1:11 Not today.

1:13 No?

1:13 Shaka, no, I I I don't know where that come from.

1:15 I just And Rajan just seems to be firing.

1:18 No, I think they've seen a lot of boring games within the Premier League.

1:21 I think that's a fair statement, isn't it?

1:23 Not today.

1:24 Yes, not today.

1:24 Oh goodness me.

1:25 Right, Mario, do you want to add anything, please?

1:29 [laughter] No, because come on, guys.

1:31 We are being excited.

1:32 Look, two teams are fighting to win the title,

1:34 the other ones are fighting to get in Europe, and then we got the relegation.

1:37 We got three spots.

1:38 No, man, come on.

1:39 That person is not watching football the way he should.

1:42 Oh, right.

1:44 Shaka, would you have been able to run up

1:46 and down the pitch four times like Donnarumma did today?

1:48 You went up for two corners, didn't he?

1:50 That wasn't good enough.

1:52 No?

1:51 No.

1:52 After the first one, I'd say [laughter] I'm giving you one.

1:55 One.

1:55 That's it.

1:57 Hey, Mario, does Chelsea's performance this season

1:59 highlight the irrelevance of the Club World Cup?

2:07 [music]

2:06 Oh, man.

2:07 Yeah, I mean I look, when I saw that Club World Cup, I was excited.

2:11 You know, I said because I thought like, "Ooh,

2:13 this is something special going to happen."

2:15 But what they've been showing me lately,

2:17 I'm I'm not as happy as I was at the beginning of the season.

2:21 And also the big change, of course, guys, you know, Maros got left.

2:26 They changed.

2:27 Lim Bersina took over.

2:29 They didn't give him the time if it was good or bad.

2:32 It was still too quick and everything, man.

2:34 They got to slow down there because I'm

2:36 worried if they keep on dismantling this team,

2:39 it's going to it's not going to get better because people are start [music]

2:43 disappointing everybody then.

2:45 Nathan, were any of the panel relegated with numerous games to spare,

2:48 and if so, what was the atmosphere around the team and dressing room like?

2:53 Oh, it's funny that you said Nathan.

2:55 But yeah, sure, that's definitely happened to me before.

2:58 And one thing I think the lowest points that I had was maybe like 24.

3:03 But for most of the season, like you feel like you're in the mix,

3:06 and all of a sudden, it's like, "Oh, we're going to win this game.

3:08 We're going to win this game." You don't win

3:09 the games because you don't win games, full stop.

3:12 But I think it was the second relegation I had.

3:15 We were playing against Reading.

3:17 Against Reading at the Majeski, and [music] it was on Sky for some reason.

3:21 It was on TV.

3:22 Don't know why it was on TV.

3:24 But both teams needed a win to continue their chance of survival.

3:29 And the game finished nil-nil, and we both went down on the same day.

3:33 So, in terms of like of vibes,

3:35 a nil-nil draw in a game where you needed to win to sort of prolong it.

3:38 Yeah, and then for the last three, four weeks,

3:40 all it was was talk about you're going to show your pride because you

3:43 need to show to the fans who are going to turn up every week.

3:46 You know, they deserve the effort,

3:48 and we need to start making plans for next season.

3:50 So, it was a weird position to be in.

3:53 But, ultimately, you know, you're still a professional,

3:55 so you have to do your job.

3:56 Mario, have you been in that situation?

4:01 Yeah, we we were relegated.

4:02 I think, how many games we had to play left?

4:04 But, it was like I had them said, you know, look, when that happens, man,

4:07 I'm telling you then, it's not even the games that you still have to play.

4:10 You know what's the the hardest part?

4:13 [music] You know you go on holiday, but you on holiday,

4:15 but you only think about what happened.

4:17 Because [music] it's not it's not that like people

4:20 sometimes think like it's it's the easiest way, right?

4:22 When you relegate, oh, he forgets about it.

4:25 They don't even know, man.

4:26 You as an individual, [music] you really suffer.

4:28 Those are one of the lowest moments in your career.

4:31 So, relegation, Ooh.

4:33 I don't wish it for no one.

4:36 You relegated with Notts County.

4:38 Mine was a really strange situation because it because

4:41 they were pretty much doomed very, very early on.

4:45 I joined them in in January.

4:49 Right.

4:48 And it wasn't official, but it was pretty much a kind of Wolves situation.

4:55 And the reason I'm saying it was a strange one because Howard Kendall,

4:59 who took the job a couple of months before I got there,

5:03 what he did was he got rid of all the all the moaners,

5:08 all the wingers, all the cancers,

5:11 everybody who just who was just walking in every

5:14 day and and just trying to be horrible.

5:18 Right.

5:18 He stopped them all on on the on their way to Mhm.

5:21 And everybody who he thought was trying to do something,

5:25 and obviously a lot of guys were looking to get

5:28 a contract or to to stay with the team.

5:33 Right.

5:32 And he got them all in the first team dressing room.

5:34 So, basically, what he did was we separated all

5:36 the pests and had nothing to do with them.

5:39 They came in for training, but they were away over the other side,

5:43 and kept out the road and told to just [music] keep away.

5:46 And so, there was a decent atmosphere.

5:50 I mean, when you're getting relegated and you know you're getting relegated,

5:54 there is there's obviously going to be a little bit of sadness around.

5:57 Right.

5:57 But, we kind of negated it.

5:59 There wasn't that toxicity that maybe there was Not in the one dressing room.

6:03 However, the other dressing room, oh my [laughter] You can hear them.

6:09 You can hear them moaning through the wall.

6:10 [laughter] Chucky, you've never relegated, have you?

6:14 Nah.

6:15 No?

6:15 No.

6:15 Me neither.

6:16 Good.

6:16 Right.

6:19 [laughter]

6:19 Final thing.

6:19 Now, we received a letter.

6:20 We received a Well, we've got one more Okay, sorry.

6:23 I was going to do the letter.

6:24 Okay.

6:25 Two false starts you've had.

6:26 Well, if Marc Guehi and Arsenal end up winning the Premier League,

6:29 how would [music] you cope?

6:31 If you're Marc Guehi, how would you feel, Mario?

6:33 You talked about obviously relegation playing on your mind.

6:39 If

6:41 Did you ask me that?

6:42 Because I couldn't hear you well.

6:43 Yes.

6:43 Yeah, if you're Marc Guehi,

6:44 how do you get over making that mistake today if Arsenal win the league?

6:51 Look, you know, if Arsenal win the One

6:53 of the key things for him, you understand?

6:54 Because coming in like I think we prior to the show, we said that

6:59 [music]

6:58 he changed a lot of things for City.

7:00 So, it will be sad for him then to be seen as the guy

7:03 that that stopped them from winning it because [music] he he stopped so much.

7:08 Even in the game, if you saw the tackle that he made, you understand?

7:11 You know, one of the Everton players that broke through.

7:14 He went to go and help Silva and made a tackle and if not,

7:16 it was a clear goal chance.

7:19 So, for that, I mean, look,

7:20 football is a game of about mistakes and I don't think he

7:23 has made enough mistakes for me to highlight him and say like,

7:26 "Hey, because of him,

7:28 they didn't win it." Because they still they still have a running to do.

7:33 And now we have to make sure that Arsenal win

7:35 all the games and then we can say something like,

7:38 "Okay, they they dropped it earlier." Because I don't think

7:41 this was the only game they they they could have won.

7:44 But [music] no, I will not give it to him now.

7:47 My my gay, I like him as a player.

7:49 I would not do that to him.

7:51 And Nemanja as a player, would you carry these things with you?

7:56 I think he'll be thinking about it tonight,

7:57 but then in fairness he's like halfway towards some level

8:00 of redemption because City didn't end up losing a game.

8:02 So he's probably going to give Jeremy Doku a pat on the back

8:04 and say thank you for giving us a little bit of hope at least.

8:07 But I think between now and the end

8:08 of the season he's he's going to probably play

8:10 the last four league games and maybe play

8:12 in a champion sorry in the FA Cup final.

8:15 So if he gets a chance to lift silverware again,

8:17 you know, after winning it with Crystal Palace last season, then yes,

8:20 he'll be disappointed that say City haven't won the league,

8:22 but he knows it's never really down to any particular moment.

8:25 You know, he's an experienced player and when the season's done,

8:27 if Arsenal win it, credit to them,

8:29 but he'll also probably be down at the training suit to go

8:31 across to the United States to try and win a World Cup.

8:34 So I get the feeling he will be just fine.

8:36 Uh you had that big miss obviously which cost Scotland

8:38 a place in the knockout stages of the World Cup.

8:41 Do you still carry that with you, Stevie?

8:44 [laughter]

8:44 Well, you don't forget it and he won't forget this.

8:47 People keep reminding you.

8:47 But at the same time

8:51 [music]

8:50 it's not going to take him long because had this been the last day of the season

8:56 [music] and they lost 1-0 and he did that, that's a different ball game.

8:59 But the one thing that will that that he will carry is the next time

9:03 or every time between now and the end

9:05 of his career when he's in that same situation, I bet he doesn't do it again.

9:10 Right.

9:10 Because your [music] your brain kicks in straight away

9:12 and everything happens so quickly and he'll remember it

9:15 and he'll make sure he does everything correctly between

9:18 now and the end of the end of his career.

9:19 I'll bet you.

9:20 Goalkeepers live with this.

9:21 You live with it every week.

9:23 Yeah, yes Dan, yes I did.

9:25 But get he's not [laughter] a goalkeeper there.

9:26 No, he's not.

9:29 I I'm receiving that.

9:30 I I think I think this bothers him.

9:32 I I think he carries until the point and I understand now there's

9:35 an FA Cup final to come and I woke up until City win a title.

9:40 Yeah.

9:40 With the guy he in it, I I think it's on the back of his mind.

9:44 Yeah.

9:43 Right, last thing.

9:44 We've received a letter.

9:46 Dear ESPN FC, my name is Chris Takeuchi, and I'm from San Diego, California.

9:51 I've been a long time fan of the show and used to participate in extra time.

9:55 I'm getting married on April the 3rd,

9:57 and I was wondering if it would be possible

9:59 to have some of the pundits and hosts to sign something.

10:01 I don't know how many autographs request Dan Thomas gets,

10:05 but I hope he has the time.

10:07 He also mentions that we're welcome to come along to the wedding.

10:10 Unfortunately, the wedding was April the 3rd,

10:13 but we will definitely sign that for you.

10:15 And it got us thinking, out of everyone,

10:17 who would be the [music] best guest at a wedding?

10:20 Mario's got to be up there.

10:22 Mario would be great for

10:23 I vote for Stevie.

10:24 I vote for Stevie Nicol.

10:25 I vote for Stevie N.

10:26 If it's a If it's a free bar.

10:28 Yes.

10:28 Yes.

10:30 Yeah, I think me and you should be.

10:33 [laughter] Free bar, send me.

10:35 I think you I think you Well, you'll be entertaining.

10:36 On a shitty start.

10:38 I mean, the ambassador.

10:39 No.

10:39 You think Shaq Shaq's an ambassador.

10:41 Well, why are you declining the wedding?

10:43 Yes.

10:43 Shaq's an ambassador.

10:44 No, I'm not.

10:44 I'm not.

10:45 I'm not the wedding type.

10:48 Why?

10:47 You're Look, Naedum definitely not the wedding type.

10:50 [laughter] Naedum doesn't carry that sort of vibe.

10:56 I I can see Naedum doing a conga line with with the bridesmaids.

10:59 the power rankings of life for the life of the party.

11:01 Naedum's with Naedum and Naedum's with Robbo and Gabby.

11:06 [laughter] I'm going to have the PARTY OF MY OH, BOY.

11:09 It's definitely It's a crazy Oh, Jesus.

11:12 It's definitely have Mario, I think definitely at the top.

11:15 Frank.

11:15 [music] Frank is Frank.

11:17 Frank.

11:17 We've got a good wedding list.

11:19 Yeah.

11:19 It would be all pretty good, wouldn't it?

11:20 Kaylin Alexis would be good value, as well.

11:23 Yeah.

11:24 Yeah.

11:24 I think we're there.

11:25 Okay.
