0:19 I've been watching the clips and and seeing the different people on the show,

0:27 I name-checked you the other day when I'm talking about,

0:30 you know, cuz some some fans are like, "Where do I find games now?

0:34 I'm not, you know, viewing habits over decades since you were in the league,

0:39 before you were in the league, whatever, are being changed.

0:42 Uh and and some people lament that about

0:45 and I said that it it just means different

0:47 voices in different places are are are are

0:50 home to to big-time moments." And I mentioned you.

0:52 I I I really have enjoyed what you're doing,

0:55 and I'm wondering how you've enjoyed it so far doing it.

0:58 Well, first off, you saying that means, like, I said everything.

1:01 Like, you're Rich Eisen.

1:02 I mean, I I know you see yourself as just, you know,

1:05 doing doing your work, doing your thing,

1:07 but you're a legend, and I appreciate it.

1:08 I've I've enjoyed it though because it's like I'm I'm truly a fan,

1:13 and I I hope to give a different perspective.

1:15 I didn't go to school for it, so you know,

1:17 some of it's like, "You said that on TV?" You know what I mean?

1:20 Like, it's like I'm just a fan up there watching the barbershop,

1:23 and I'm really really really enjoying it.

1:24 Working with the great Mike Tirico Mike Tirico and Reggie Miller,

1:27 so it's been like a blast.

1:29 Working with other guys as well, but those two are like, you know, next level.

1:33 Been around for a long long time.

1:35 Well, I mean, in tonight's game couldn't be huger, couldn't be bigger.

1:38 Yes.

1:38 Um and it's going to be just uh I imagine uh a color-coded cauldron,

1:44 you know what I mean?

1:45 Like, where everybody in their their shirts and based on Wemby

1:48 getting the gate in game four and whether he, you know,

1:53 meant to throw the elbow and the way that they are handling him,

1:58 you know, literally and figuratively putting hands on him.

2:01 Um how do you feel tonight is

2:03 going to go whistle-wise uh involving Wembanyama, Jamal?

2:08 Yeah, whistle-wise I I think if if the refs and everybody

2:13 else is paying attention to everything else in the world,

2:15 hearing Coach Miss Johnson's press conference after

2:17 last game and saying, "You know what?

2:19 I don't condone what he did, but he has to take matters in his own hand.

2:23 He's been getting beat up on." And it's funny, Rich,

2:25 I was just like giving Wemby props in the game like,

2:28 "Man, you know, all the holding and grabbing." He's not,

2:31 you know, going forward.

2:32 He's just gets up, bounce back, no no expression, no nothing.

2:37 And then that happened.

2:37 So, I put the announcer's jinx on him,

2:39 but other than that, I expect it to be called a lot tighter.

2:42 I know it's game five and you want to let the players decide,

2:45 but you can't have another situation, not just for Wemby, but anybody, you know,

2:49 where it takes players away or gets them out the game because, you know,

2:51 it just gets a little bit too physical or a little bit too much at times.

2:55 Yeah, I I mean, and if if we like

2:57 Crew could put that photograph up one more time, my favorite part of this is I I

3:01 believe it's Dylan Harper in the background there,

3:03 his reaction like, "Oh, man!" Like, you know.

3:07 What was your reaction when you saw him?

3:09 Well, you know what?

3:10 Rich and I were kind of grabbing each other's arms like,

3:12 "What?" Like, "Oh my gosh." And leaning into Mike like,

3:15 "Wow." Because we had just seen we Wemby's always so cool, calm, and collected.

3:19 He just is, right?

3:20 And so, uh for that moment, you know, he had had one too many jersey tugs.

3:25 He was like, "All right, enough's enough." So,

3:27 it's going to be very interesting the rest of the way uh

3:30 to see how this plays out if it goes these last three games.

3:33 Well, what would your advice be to this young He's still so young, right?

3:37 And you could see he's putting more muscle mass on his body year after year.

3:42 But he still is at such a physically freakish dimensions, right?

3:49 That there's no other way, I think, even with uh Rudy Gobert,

3:53 who fellow Michigan man Chris Webber keeps calling the Stifle Tower.

3:58 Even Even with the Stifle Tower, you know, guarding him,

4:01 there's no way to guard him other than to mug him most of the time.

4:06 How do you think Wembanyama like what what it would be the advice to him

4:09 on how to handle game five and the rest of his playoffs and then beyond, Jamal?

4:14 I I think the same thing.

4:15 I think And as this goes forward, right?

4:18 Like not just this season, beyond, you might see that one or two guys who's who

4:22 comes off the bench and is like, "No, no, no,

4:24 we're not we're not going for that." You know, almost like the protector,

4:27 the buffer, uh to kind of make sure things like this don't happen.

4:31 Uh Jordan had it with Charles Oakley, you know,

4:33 the Bad Boy Pistons had everybody that was there for Isaiah.

4:36 So, you know, it's it's just what it is, but for him,

4:39 I'd tell him to keep his cool because that's what they want you to do.

4:42 They want to get you frustrated.

4:43 They want to get you off the court.

4:45 Because to your point, Rich, there's no other way to deal with him.

4:47 He can literally do everything on the court.

4:50 When When he went off the court,

4:51 you could see how easy it was for the Timberwolves just to drive to the basket.

4:54 They were like, "Oh my gosh." Like layup after layup,

4:56 we're going to attack every single time.

4:58 And he knows that.

4:59 He knows that, you know, his team needs him out there.

5:01 So, just they're going to do this on purpose to try to get this reaction.

5:05 You just can't do it.

5:06 Yeah, and speaking of reactions, again, I'm just looking at the montages,

5:09 uh the the the photograph that we just used,

5:12 the one of uh Wemby on the floor, um you know, that one, yeah.

5:16 There's Dylan Harper again.

5:17 I think that I think he's the He's in the background.

5:21 He's got a You thought you had a front row seat to all this?

5:24 He's the one with the front row seat going, "Oh man."

5:26 the best seat.

5:27 He has the very best seat right there.

5:29 Absolutely.

5:29 His mom is like, "I can't believe this, right?

5:32 Like I see this dude every day and he doesn't react like that." But yeah,

5:35 I think I think Wemb You know, Wemby when he was with I had him for some time.

5:39 He was with the Monks.

5:40 He was with uh Akeem.

5:42 I think right there he may have tapped

5:43 into his KG ticket where it was KG badge was like, "Nah, we ain't going no more.

5:50 Okay, so last night's Oklahoma City Thunder sweep of the Lakers,

5:56 there's a couple ways to go with it.

5:57 Let's go with the obvious.

5:58 Do you think LeBron James um is done in Los Angeles,

6:03 done period, or is going to stay put?

6:08 What do you think?

6:09 Jamal?

6:09 You know what?

6:10 I don't think he's done period.

6:11 I'll say that because he's such a a big icon that I think he'll he'll say

6:17 it early enough where he can really enjoy

6:18 going in every city knowing this is last time.

6:20 He can let that city enjoy knowing it's his last time.

6:23 He you know, he's been around forever.

6:25 He's dominated for so long.

6:27 I I think for sure this isn't his last year.

6:29 Now, if he's if he's last year in LA,

6:31 that's a little bit different because obviously part of the last part of fun,

6:36 even though it was frustrating,

6:37 was that he was back being the number one option.

6:39 Like he's like he said last night, I've been accustomed to that.

6:41 I've been that my whole life.

6:43 So, for him being a a quote-unquote third

6:47 option the whole year and maybe not sliding out

6:51 even further than that if they're going to get

6:52 even better to try to compete for a championship,

6:54 I'm not sure he's he's on board with that.

6:56 That's just me saying that from the eye test of knowing, you know,

6:59 what he's been this whole time and still producing at the the highest of level.

7:02 Rich, we've never seen something like this for somebody to dominate

7:05 this Have you seen something like this like at this point?

7:08 I mean, Tom Tom Brady would be the only true the only comparison.

7:12 In terms of age, in terms of excellence,

7:15 in terms of championship play, unfortunately though for LeBron,

7:18 the the the roads part in the fact that Brady won rings play

7:25 as a 40-year-old and and here is uh LeBron in a spot where I don't know.

7:31 I I I just see Luka in street clothes over

7:34 the last 2 weeks and I'm just shaking my head you know,

7:37 thinking of what March looked like for the Lakers where where Luka

7:41 was the player of the month in the Western Conference in March.

7:44 And yeah, LeBron was occasionally a third option,

7:47 but he was still an important piece of what

7:50 looked like a championship run for that team.

7:55 And then the, you know,

7:56 hamstring gives away and now now they're they're swept up.

8:01 That's why I'm like I got to wonder like LeBron's got to sit there,

8:04 Jamal, and go, "If I stay put here,

8:07 um I'm assuming he get also gets to still play with his son,

8:10 which is a a major um impetus.

8:13 Um he might like living in his house.

8:15 Oh, you know, long right here in Southern California.

8:18 There's there's the the the thing called

8:20 life that he he likes out here potentially.

8:23 But if he looks over the steering wheel and he sees a better spot,

8:26 where do you think that might be?

8:28 What's your best dart throw?

8:29 I always give I always give guests here, Jamal,

8:31 dart throw.

8:32 Well, I do.

8:32 And the fact and and here's what I say for you is if you get it right,

8:36 we'll keep replaying it.

8:37 Like, "Hey, Jamal said Oh.

8:39 If you get it wrong, this never happened.

8:41 Don't worry about

8:41 some personal game with this.

8:54 What what what's the fit there?

8:56 I I think for him he staggers what they do, Will,

8:58 and I think that's what Jimmy Butler made would make them dangerous

9:01 with Jimmy Butler in the playoffs because he had all this shooting.

9:04 He had uh you know, all these people

9:06 that can move around and and give space to let

9:09 him do his one-on-one thing that he needed

9:10 to do in the playoffs when the game slow down.

9:12 I think LeBron can kind of fill that role

9:15 of playing that style and still, you know, his IQ.

9:18 I've always said for years, especially when they were in their championship run,

9:21 you can't play in Golden State if you don't have a high a high basketball IQ

9:24 because it's such read and react and and making

9:27 the right reads and the ball not sticking.

9:29 I think in the playoffs,

9:31 Jimmy was going to definitely help Steph even the first year.

9:33 Steph was so excited.

9:34 I remember talking to him in person and I

9:36 was in New York after the trade happened.

9:38 And he was like, "Oh my gosh." Like he loved the addition of Jimmy Butler.

9:42 I think LeBron can give a version of that.

9:45 So, I would I would say Golden State.

9:47 If I'm right, you got to play it all the time, Rich.

9:48 Like all the time.

9:50 I this is maybe going to be on a loop first or second week of July.

10:33 Uh Harden the rest of that team uh the way it is constructed,

10:38 if he goes home, he's not the guy.

10:41 He can be the guy if necessary, and it's a full circle moment.

10:45 You know, in the Eastern Conference, the Eastern Conference,

10:48 although far from his Southern California home base,

10:51 um i- is I think a little bit more open for a championship run.

10:56 You your dart may be as closer to the bull's-eye than mine.

11:10 Maybe I'll stay with Luka.

11:12 I'll stay in my house.

11:14 I'll stay with Austin Reaves.

11:15 We'll see what they can do.

11:17 Otherwise, um but then again,

11:19 you're staying in the same conference as Oklahoma City.

11:21 And I I do want to give you the floor

11:23 on what's the most impressive aspect of their team right now?

11:31 Wow.

11:31 I I think the most impressive thing of their team

11:33 for me is their that they're winning the present,

11:37 they're winning the middle, and they're winning the future.

11:40 And what I mean by that is That was This is unbelievable.

11:44 It is.

11:44 It's because the present, we see what the present is, right?

11:47 They haven't lost a game in the playoffs.

11:48 They have everything set up for like right now to continue to compete.

11:53 They have defenders, they have uh Chet,

11:57 they have They're not They're doing this without their second best player.

12:00 SGA hasn't even went off and AJ Mitchell's went off.

12:03 Last night SGA said AJ Mitchell could have been MVP of the series.

12:07 And then, what a lot of people don't talk about is

12:09 I feel like they have a true superstar on the sidelines.

12:13 Coach Daigneault is unbelievable.

12:16 Like he He's one of the only coaches that puts

12:18 himself in the game that I've seen that we've talked to.

12:20 He's He is so impressive.

12:22 What do you mean by that?

12:23 What is he What is he doing?

12:24 Cuz again, I just was I just marvel at his rotations and

12:30 Yeah.

12:29 when he puts them in.

12:30 In all honesty, and you know, I'm biased,

12:33 Dusty May has that ability, too, where you know,

12:36 where it's just a different organism every

12:39 every time you make a a a substitution.

12:44 And and and you're daring the other team to be as deep

12:48 and be as smart to match up at the right moment.

12:51 I I you know,

12:53 But he is incredible, Rich.

12:55 Like most people coach,

12:57 and and now I watch coaches even more than I watch the players, so I'm studying.

13:01 And he he coaches and he puts himself literally in the game.

13:05 It's almost like he's playing with a remote

13:07 control on the sideline, an invisible one.

13:09 He's like subbing how he wants to sub,

13:10 and he's putting people in position, and he's doing it without missing a beat.

13:14 And the culture he's helped set.

13:16 So, I would say that's for the present.

13:18 The middle is all these guys are in the age where they can have this run, right?

13:21 They have a clear-cut runway.

13:23 Nobody's too old.

13:24 They all like each other.

13:26 They all want to play together.

13:28 I thought it was corny at first when they were all doing interviews years ago.

13:31 It was just one guy.

13:33 That's truly the closeness of their team.

13:34 So, that's special.

13:36 And then the the future.

13:38 They Look at all the picks they still have.

13:40 Like it's it's like incredible.

13:42 And I give Sam Presti so much credit because he's done this more than once.

13:46 When he had Durant, Westbrook, Harden, Ibaka, you know what I'm saying?

13:50 Ibaka, not Ibaka.

13:51 He had all those guys.

13:53 Like he's done this before.

13:55 So, they're winning on every level.

13:57 And for me they're going to be a tough out.

13:59 It's going to be tough to beat them four times.

14:01 It's going to be so tough to beat them

14:02 four times in any any series in in any future.

14:06 Like they're going to be tough.

14:07 Yeah.

14:45 Um and and sure enough it was that two-man high-low game

14:50 that gave them the the go-ahead the go-ahead bucket for good.

14:54 And you know, I sit at home.

14:57 I'm like, how do you beat that especially when their best player who is going

15:01 to be most likely back-to-back MVP of the league

15:04 gets a whistle 90% of the time, too.

15:07 And maybe half of them he doesn't deserve to be honest.

15:11 Uh how how do you beat this team?

15:13 And who can I'm not sure you can.

15:14 And and the and the crazy part about them is I

15:18 used to say this about the Spurs back in the day

15:20 when they had Tim Duncan and Manu and Tony is

15:24 and Papa of course they're not going to beat themselves either.

15:28 If they were a fighter they can fight

15:29 left hand right hand unorthodox they can pressure

15:32 you they have the jab a skill work

15:34 they are heavyweight knockout artist like they have everything.

15:37 They're doing this without a all what other

15:39 team can do this without a all NBA guy?

15:41 They're they're missing the all NBA guy second like

15:46 their second best player and they haven't missed a beat.

15:48 Shay goes out and at times they get better like hell.

15:52 Yeah I know and that may be Daigneault's superpower also.

15:56 For sure.

15:57 Although I don't know I mean the Spurs

15:58 with all due respect to the Timberwolves who have you

16:00 know a superstar in Ant-Man who feels he could

16:03 do whatever he wants to do whenever he wants.

16:06 I don't know but maybe the Spurs will be able to take Oklahoma City deep.

16:11 Um I don't know like there there is a possibility there.

16:15 So so Rich before even I promise you

16:19 before the season started or not probably before

16:21 they played I'll say before they played I

16:23 said I thought the Spurs could beat OKC.

16:26 And the and then they went four out of five times and it

16:29 wasn't what I saw was was the OKC has four top-notch defenders.

16:35 Most teams that gets deep they have two to three

16:38 primary playmakers guys that can They okay so those four

16:41 guys shut those guys out and now your your offense

16:44 is in disarray shots are hard to come by they're aggressive.

16:47 The difference with the Spurs was what I thought I saw

16:49 was the Spurs have as many playmakers as they have defenders.

16:53 So that counters that and then it comes down to the alien or the MVP

16:57 and I just have the alien you know kind of leaving his imprint

17:00 a little bit more so that's what I saw so if the Spurs make

17:04 it if Minnesota makes it I think

17:06 the Spurs probably give them a better challenge.

17:10 What about the wagon version of the New York

17:13 Knicks that we've seen over their last seven wins?

17:16 Like we haven't seen this version, right?

17:19 We haven't seen the 140 points a game No, we have not.

17:23 25 3s, Karl-Anthony Towns point center,

17:28 not needing to have Brunson do hero ball to bail themselves out out

17:32 of gas because the coach only plays seven guys version of the Knicks.

17:36 We haven't We haven't seen that What about that version

17:39 of the Knicks that we're seeing uh moving on?

17:42 It would It would be interesting,

17:43 but I think you need you need like not just multi-playmakers,

17:47 I think you need like four.

17:49 I think you need four play cuz you have to match their defensive players.

17:52 Because if they say, "Okay, Brunson, we're taking you out." Who's the next best

17:57 playmaker for the for the New York Knicks?

18:02 I don't know.

18:02 I I It It It's probably Karl-Anthony Towns.

18:05 Um you know, I think it would be KAT,

18:08 and then if OG is healthy, um I don't know.

18:12 He He He can have a uh a quarter here and there where he's dominant,

18:18 Cuz it Cuz then you still can put like let's say you could put Dort on KAT.

19:22 And then Milwaukee saying, you know what, we may not get even exchange,

19:24 but if he's not happy, we're not getting a happy Giannis either.

19:28 If that's the case, I don't know, then we have to take a deal.

19:33 Yeah, I we'll we'll we'll find that out.

19:37 just to wrap this up with the whole Michigan uh Oklahoma City comparison here.

19:42 I'm seeing a ton of mock drafts where somehow some way at 12,

19:47 Oklahoma City gets Yaxel to drop to them.

19:50 If Yaxel Lendeborg goes to that team See what I'm saying?
