resetting my life for spring (getting back on track)

resetting my life for spring (getting back on track)

Sydney Serena

0:00 Hey guys, it's Sid.

0:01 Welcome back.

0:10 Uh, let's cut to the chase.

0:11 I feel like a wreck.

0:12 I have never felt so out of control of my own life than I have the past week.

0:17 Mostly because I came out with like a new launch for my jewelry brand.

0:20 So, I've been so busy.

0:21 This morning, I woke up and I was like,

0:22 I need a reset day, especially like a spring reset.

0:25 I think spring is the perfect like excuse for me to do a whole like reset day.

0:29 First, I need to get out of my apartment before I spiral about everything.

0:48 All right, guys.

0:49 I'm here.

0:50 I'm basically back home.

0:51 It feels so weirdly empty finishing something

0:54 that you've been working on for so long.

0:56 I've been working on this jewelry brand launch

0:58 for a year and now that it's out and done,

1:01 obviously I'm so happy, but I don't know like what to do with myself.

1:05 So, I'm here to kind of like get myself back on track

1:07 to kind of just write out what I'm going to do today.

1:10 I feel like my mind is so all over the place.

1:13 If I don't write stuff down,

1:14 I get distracted with things that I really don't need to be doing.

1:17 I think I need to grocery shop a little bit.

1:19 I also need to desperately clean and deep clean my apartment.

1:23 I really just needed to leave my apartment though and be around people.

1:27 And I already feel much better.

1:28 Forgot to film my coffee before I drank it.

1:32 Sorry about that.

1:48 As I was out and about walking,

1:50 I remembered the crucial part of my self-care routine is getting a bagel.

1:54 Um, not really.

1:54 I just saw a cup of bagels and had to have some.

1:58 I love bagels and this place and then headed to the grocery

2:01 store to get just a few things I needed restocks of.

2:07 I made a pit stop for bagels.

2:09 I ended up getting a couple groceries just to like restock some things.

2:13 I just threw those in the fridge.

2:14 Wow, I look pale.

2:16 Okay, so I need to selftan as a part of this reset.

2:18 Anyways, now that I'm home,

2:19 I'm going to stop procrastinating and get to business.

2:22 I need to clean.

2:23 I'm considering blurring out my bed because I don't

2:26 want you guys to be concerned about the stains.

2:28 Um, it's my selftanner.

2:30 I swear.

2:31 I swear it is.

2:32 The girls that self tan out there, you understand.

2:34 It's kind of just like you have to accept it.

2:37 Uh, anyways, I do need to wash my sheets.

2:39 I'm going to wash my duvet cover, too, which I hate doing.

2:42 I didn't make my bed this morning because I

2:44 knew that I was going to be washing my sheets, not because I was lazy.

2:48 Actually, you know what?

2:49 I'm feeling vulnerable.

2:50 This is what my pillow looks like.

2:52 How does this happen?

2:53 And why is it pink?

3:14 Update.

3:14 Laundry is in.

3:16 Now I have to tackle my bedroom floor.

3:19 Um, things just start to accumulate.

3:21 The problem is once there's a pile it's going to grow.

3:24 I cannot like start and form a pile

3:26 because then at that point I'm already doomed.

3:28 And unfortunately I've been having a lot of piles um recently.

3:32 I hate these piles.

3:33 I hate going through piles cuz then I have

3:34 to be decisive like is this something I'm keeping?

3:36 Is it something I'm donating?

3:38 What am I doing with it?

3:39 I don't know.

3:40 So, the past 2 weeks since I've been working so much on this jewelry launch,

3:52 I have not gone to the gym I don't think once.

3:54 Not that I'm a gym rat like at all,

3:57 but I definitely usually go a few times a week.

3:59 go to like a class or something.

4:01 And I haven't because I've just been like too overwhelmed

4:04 and like busy to even think about going to the gym.

4:06 It's kind of funny the things that you cut out when you're stressed.

4:09 And the gym is usually like one of the first things to go.

4:12 So, I was like thinking I should probably make a comeback today.

4:16 I really don't want to go, but I know I'll feel so much better after.

4:20 So, I figured while my laundry is going, I should use this time to my advantage.

4:38 Delayed gratification is a amazing thing.

4:40 I did not want to go and now I'm so happy that I did.

4:43 Anyways, I had a little snack.

4:44 I jumped in the shower.

4:45 I have my comfy clothes on.

4:47 And I have some bad news.

4:50 It looks like I didn't make any progress.

4:52 Things are looking worse before they get better.

4:57 Oh, this is all of my laundry on the floor.

4:59 My floor is clean, I promise.

5:01 So, not only do I have to fold all those clothes,

5:03 but I also have to do the dreaded task of putting my fitted sheet on my bed.

5:07 I would rather do anything else than put my fitted sheet on my bed.

5:10 Like, I'd rather run a marathon Better late than never.

5:42 Oh, do I have food in my teeth?

5:44 Whenever I clean my room,

5:45 it always takes at least triple the time than I originally estimate.

5:48 I don't know if I just have like a bad

5:50 gauge of time or if I'm just like hopefully optimistic,

5:53 but it looks so much better.

5:55 I already feel so much more at peace.

5:57 Like there's just no better feeling than a clean room.

5:59 I just want to sit in my room and stare at it.

6:01 I'm such a visual person.

6:02 Like I need to have my space clean in order for my mind to feel clean.

6:07 I already feel like 10 times better.

6:08 I think I just want to chill the rest of the night.

6:10 I feel like I was pretty productive today.

6:13 As I was cleaning, I kind of gathered this bag together.

6:15 I get sent so much stuff.

6:17 I literally it feels like Christmas for me every day.

6:19 I'm the luckiest girl in the world and I just know

6:21 that someone else out there deserves this 10 times more than me.

6:25 I don't need any more stuff.

6:26 As much as I love Mario Bidescue.

6:28 So, I thought, you know what?

6:29 Why don't I just pick one of you guys to give this to?

6:32 I won't go through everything but some highlights, face spray,

6:35 Mariocu face cleanser, their neck cream,

6:37 nyinomide cream, hyaluronic moisturizer, eye cream.

6:40 Just a few of the things to enter.

6:42 I just want to make it easy.

6:43 Um, comment below the best piece of advice you've ever received.

6:46 I am really asking that cuz I'm curious.

6:49 Also, write your Instagram handle so that way

6:51 I can message you and pick the winner.

6:53 Anyways, I'm really here because I figured

6:55 it was time to do another advice session.

6:58 You guys know the drill.

6:58 If you follow me on Instagram and message me,

7:00 I pick someone and it's totally anonymous.

7:02 I never say who sent me the DM and I just kind of like

7:05 do my best to like help answer it or just like give my two cents.

7:09 What made you decide to live so far away from your family and friends?

7:12 Was it hard?

7:13 Do you have any advice or things you live by so

7:14 you don't get overwhelmed with anxiety being so far away?

7:17 I specifically wanted to answer this question because it's

7:19 been something I've been really honestly like struggling with.

7:23 As some of you guys know,

7:24 I'm from Minnesota and I didn't initially decide to like

7:27 move away to get away from my family or friends.

7:29 It was more of a consequence of just where I wanted to live was not by them.

7:34 I haven't lived by my family in six years now.

7:36 I was in California and now I'm living in New York.

7:39 I thought it would get easier as I got older.

7:41 And to be honest, it has not.

7:44 I don't know why I thought it would get easier, but every time I leave them,

7:48 like after a visit, I feel like for the next two,

7:51 three days, I am really, really sad.

7:53 It takes me like a good week to kind of like get out of that funk.

7:56 I think whenever I find myself feeling like anxious

7:59 about it and sad about not being close to them, I remember, first of all,

8:02 that I can FaceTime and I'm like so grateful that FaceTime exists.

8:06 I think about like 30 years ago when that wasn't an option.

8:09 I also try to remind myself to feel grateful for the fact

8:12 that I miss my family because I know there's a lot

8:14 of people who don't have good relationships with their family members

8:17 and I'm so lucky to like be in the position to miss them.

8:20 It just means that I love them and I have such a great relationship with them.

8:24 So, I found it's a bit more of my perspective and I

8:26 think the biggest thing too is whenever I leave them or we separate,

8:30 I try to already have the next trip planned to see them.

8:33 So, that way it's a little bit less hard cuz

8:35 I know exactly when I'm going to see them next.

8:37 But yeah, I mean to be honest,

8:38 sometimes it's hard and I'm not going to like pretend

8:41 that it's totally easy cuz it's definitely not for me.

8:44 I have plenty of nights where I like honestly get

8:46 so sad and I just miss being close to them.

8:49 I also feel like weirdly guilty for leaving my family.

8:53 I don't know if anyone relates to that.

8:55 The older I get, I just feel wrong for not living by them.

8:59 My family doesn't make me feel like that.

9:00 They support me living my life, but I don't know.

9:03 I feel so guilty about it.

9:06 On that note, I'm going to do some skincare.

9:08 Well, I just did skincare, but I'm going to put on my red light mask.

9:11 And I think I'm going to watch the game.

9:13 Just a cute little I just want a cute little cozy night for myself alone.

9:20 This is me looking absolutely insane in my red light mask.

9:22 I watched the Minnesota Timberwolves.

9:24 Is honestly just like such a nice relaxing way to end my reset.

9:28 But I'm sorry, guys.

9:29 You already know what I'm about to say.

9:31 I forgot to do an outro.

9:32 I just wanted to say love you guys.

9:34 Thanks so much for watching.

9:35 And if you've like supported my jewelry brand, Oilia,

9:37 I just wanted to say thank you so much.

9:38 It means the world and I just love you guys and I feel so grateful.

9:42 I'll see you in my next vlog.

9:44 Bye guys.
