0:25 We start in Japan where their week started with a tsunami

0:28 warning following a powerful earthquake in the Pacific Ocean.

0:32 A 7.4 magnitude quake occurred Monday off

0:35 the northeast coast of the country's largest island, Honshu.

0:39 According to the Japan Meteorological Agency,

0:41 the epicenter occurred about 6 miles deep

0:44 and shock waves could be felt across the island.

0:46 A CNN producer in our Tokyo bureau says

0:49 that her building shook for nearly seven minutes.

0:52 The quake triggered tsunami warnings throughout the region.

0:55 Some areas bracing for waves up to 10 ft high.

0:58 Evacuation orders were issued for more than 170,000 people across five regions.

1:05 Residents in areas under tsunami warnings should immediately

1:09 evacuate to higher ground or safe elevated locations.

1:14 Those initial warnings were later downgraded and as of this taping,

1:18 there have been no reports of injuries or major damage to buildings.

1:22 Officials are still concerned that aftershocks

1:24 of a similar magnitude could happen this week.

1:27 Japan is one of the most earthquakerprone countries on the planet,

1:30 accounting for roughly 1ifth of the world's six plus magnitude quakes.

1:35 It lies on the Ring of Fire,

1:37 where the Pacific plate meets many surrounding tectonic plates.

1:41 It's an area of intense seismic and volcanic activity in the Pacific Ocean.

1:45 The worst quake in recent Japanese history

1:47 was the 9.1 magnitude To<unk>hoku earthquake in 2011,

1:52 which triggered a major tsunami and nuclear disaster in Fukushima.

1:56 To Wisconsin now, where a chaotic scene unfolded this weekend after

2:00 animal rights activists attempted to break into a dog breeding facility.

2:04 A crowd of around 1,000 people

2:06 reportedly tried gaining access to Ridgelin Farms,

2:10 a company that breeds beagles, for medical and scientific testing.

2:14 Police used tear gas and rubber bullets and say they

2:17 arrested demonstrators who started to breach

2:19 fences while clashing with authorities.

2:22 This is not a peaceful protest anymore.

2:24 There are 3 to 400 people actively trying to break

2:28 in and hurt not only the Dayne County Sheriff's Office deputies on site,

2:32 but steal and take property from one of a private business owner.

2:35 The facility houses around 2,000 dogs.

2:38 It was raided by activists last month as well.

2:41 Dozens of dogs were taken.

2:43 27 people were arrested during that incident.

2:45 The group wasn't able to get into the facility this time.

2:48 They say the event was a peaceful demonstration aimed at saving dogs from abuse.

2:53 They don't know grass.

2:54 They don't know love.

2:55 They don't know comfort.

2:56 And they deserve freedom.

2:58 They are alive with feelings with rights.

3:01 And these animal rights are being violated by Ridgeland Farms.

3:05 Ridgand Farms has denied mistreating the animals,

3:07 saying there's no credible evidence of animal abuse.

3:10 They did however previously agree to give up their state breeding license later

3:15 this year as part of a deal to avoid prosecution on animal mistreatment charges.

4:44 It was tradition.

4:45 Picture riders on horseback, horns echoing,

4:48 packs of hounds chasing foxes across these rolling green hills.

4:51 Well, what was once celebrated is now frowned upon.

4:54 20 years ago, England and Wales banned hunting for most wild animals with dogs.

4:59 And this year, the government is set to ban trail

5:02 hunting where hounds follow sense laid out ahead of time.

5:05 But hunting enthusiasts have already found a creative

5:08 replacements that uh raising eyebrows and questions.

5:11 Our Christina McFarland joined the chase.

5:14 For centuries, packed dogs have chased and killed foxes and other wild animals.

5:19 But since that was banned decades ago, hunts have needed another prey.

5:23 I'm here in the SuffK countryside where I'm about to be chased

5:26 by a pack of horses and hounds uh in something called a clean boot hunt.

5:32 Now, traditionally this hunt would have chased an animal scent like foxes,

5:36 but now it's humans or runners.

5:39 Uh, and today that means me and I'm a little bit nervous.

5:46 James Chadwick is the master and huntsman of the Hamilton blood hounds.

5:50 He's been rearing these blood hounds from birth to track human scent.

5:54 Am I going to get torn to pieces?

5:56 Not at all.

5:57 You might get licked to death, but apart from that, no,

6:00 they're You'll find out in a minute.

6:01 They're so friendly.

6:02 They love people.

6:04 Watch your head.

6:06 OH MY GOD.

6:07 We enter a tiny cage so the dogs can sniff our scent.

6:15 Here.

6:15 No, not on my mouth.

6:16 Thank you.

6:17 Do you know all their names?

6:18 That's Sunday.

6:19 Sunday with our dignity just about intact.

6:29 We're given a 15minute head start as the riders assemble.

6:42 And then the hunt begins.

6:56 If hunting is to continue in the UK, this could soon be the only way to do it.

7:00 With the government proposing a ban on all forms

7:03 of hunting involving animal scent in England and Wales.

7:07 Docks have been used to track foxes and other

7:09 wild animals in Britain since the 16th century.

7:12 It only became popular as a sport a century later.

7:16 After animal hunting was banned in 2004,

7:18 hunts were permitted to chase a pre-laid scent without any killing.

7:22 But some think that's been used as a smoke screen to continue illegal hunting.

7:28 Which is why clean boot hunting is taking off.

7:31 I can hear them.

7:33 On this occasion, we finish the trail before being caught and lie in weight.

7:39 Here they come.

7:50 It's strangely exhilarating.

7:53 A lot more fun than a park run.

7:56 People think you're crazy, but it's it's I I love it.

8:00 I love it.

8:00 And to keep it going is it's necessary because it keeps

8:04 the community together because you have all walks of life that come here.

8:08 What do you say to people who think this isn't a real hunt?

8:12 I would say that this is the most brilliant compromise because no one gets hurt.

8:17 Biscuits and no one is more relieved than me.

8:21 All right, now to a very different chase, sure to be anything but boring.

8:28 In the Polish capital of Warsaw,

8:30 a scene that looked more sci-fi than city life stopped people in their tracks.

8:34 That's a humanoid robot chasing off a herd of wild boar.

8:38 Talk about software running efficiently.

8:40 The AI powered bot named Edward stomped his feet,

8:44 yelled in Polish, "Go away!" even gave chase.

8:47 Call it crowd control, call it tech meets nature.

8:50 Either way, Edward was running full boore.

8:52 And apparently, sooie piggy isn't the only trick.

8:55 Ed's become a bit of a local celebrity.
