42:06 the priority be a map like Dust 2 or maybe a map like Mirage on the other end.

42:10 they're going for their least played maps against each other,

42:12 which is going to be Nuke and Anub,

42:13 but it's only one game between them on each

42:15 map in the last year, more than that.

42:17 You know, it's it's been insane.

42:19 So, yeah, it's really surprising that you see Vitality going back to Nuke.

42:23 It's a map that they liked, I'd say, pretty early on with this roster.

42:26 Apex has said himself that it's one of his his favorites,

42:29 but his favorite doesn't mean their best.

42:31 So to me, this is going to be more about a targeted game plan.

42:34 Are you going to see them just kind of go

42:35 for repeat calls or try to have these crazier mixups,

42:38 which Nuke definitely allows due to its more tactical nature.

42:41 Does seem like they kept something in their back pocket

42:43 for this best of five final facing Na'Vi, but riddle me this.

42:47 I don't know if I'm reading this correctly.

42:48 Na'Vi hasn't won a map against Vitality since I am Cologne 2024.

42:57 It has not been a beautiful history.

42:59 You can see all the L's that they have taken and yeah,

43:04 about with this being a best of five grand finals,

43:06 this is the 15th best of five grand final that Vitali will have played.

43:14 you know, the crazy upset that G2 got on them in London some time ago.

43:21 it kind of has to be in the BO3, has to be in the semi-final.

43:23 But Na'Vi doesn't have that luxury.

43:24 They have to get it done today if they want to silence the goats.

43:26 So it disappears versus Vitality.

43:30 Okay, nobody on the Na'Vi side, unfortunately, even holds a 1.00 rating.

43:35 Just the bare minimum average that you would want from a professional

43:38 player when they face up in the server against the world's best.

43:41 That is obviously a huge bottleneck in terms of performance

43:44 that somehow Vitality continues to retain that choke hold over Na'Vi.

43:50 But you got to you got to break records.

43:54 What what's interesting is how Na'Vi are going

43:56 to actually dictate what's happens in the future,

43:58 which is why I think some of their picks are a little bit interesting.

44:02 So, and I I feel like it's all kind of led to this for them, right?

44:05 That that heartbreak in Rotterdam and also recently in Rio.

44:13 to talk about some of those pieces for Na'Vi because Macaza wonderful.

44:18 What a tournament they're having.

44:19 Yeah, they're battling each other not only for the trophy,

44:21 but for the MVP medal.

44:22 And obviously the trophy, as you heard Makaz say in the interview,

44:25 is the more important priority.

44:26 But the fact that any one of those guys could

44:28 do that in an event like this would just be

44:29 the cherry on top of what would be a great

44:31 Sunday for them if they're able to win this event.

44:33 So yeah, those are definitely the two guys hot.

44:35 They had the hot hand.

44:36 They're number one and number two in the tournament so far.

44:38 They've been playing excellent Counter-Strike and really Makaz,

44:41 it's just been a steady development over time.

44:43 Macaz has been the stable force to me.

44:45 He feels inevitable when Na'Vi load up in the server.

44:48 Unfortunately, that hasn't always been the case versus Vitality,

44:51 but I would say the X factor is definitely wonderful.

44:53 The fact that he has in the past been the best player

44:56 in the server against the Vitality team at the most recent major and yeah,

45:00 he had a little bit of a difficult January through March this year,

45:03 but now he's coming back online.

45:05 Can you tell me what exactly has gone better for him?

45:08 How has he kind of found those percentages in his play?

45:11 I think it's always in him.

45:12 You know, that's the biggest thing is like we even saw it last season,

45:14 the hot cologne, we even saw it a couple other tournaments.

45:16 Again, you mentioned the Budapest major,

45:18 but it's just the consistency hasn't really been there for him.

45:21 And I think that hopefully over time he's getting more and more comfortable.

45:23 I understand the performance coaches are working with him a little bit more.

45:26 He's trying to find a better routine to kind of get on that streak,

45:28 but he's also just a great rifle.

45:30 I think is the other big trademark.

45:31 But getting back to Macaz, yeah, you look at the Matt ratings,

45:33 his best Matt's not going to be here today,

45:35 but what will be here today is the more developed version

45:37 of Makaz that we've gotten throughout the course of this year.

45:39 You know, this is a guy who is a huge rookie last year.

45:42 Comes in, was already a very strong CT player.

45:45 T-side's a bit weaker this year.

45:46 You're seeing him convert more opening duels on the T-side.

45:48 You're seeing him play higher ratings on the offense.

45:51 And so I really do think that this could be a game changer for him.

45:54 Is he just farming ancient for his stats?

45:57 You could see on those numbers right there that he is

45:59 a world class I would say the best ancient player in the world,

46:02 he's still a great player on the other map.

46:04 So even though I'd say the the reason that he

46:07 has such a an otherworldly rating in total is gone,

46:11 you still have a guy that is an excellent entry fragger like Dust said.

46:14 And I feel like the way that Blade and Alexi have molded

46:17 this guy to just be smarter about his mid round, late round play.

46:20 Now he's become one of the better clutchers on the team, too.

46:22 At ESL Pro League, I'm pretty sure he had a 1v4 ace clutch.

46:26 So, this guy can really do it all at this point.

46:28 He just needed to get really working in that Na'Vi system

46:32 and figure out where he should and shouldn't be pushing forward.

46:34 That's what we're saying all the time, right,

46:36 with any new player that comes into the system.

46:38 And people are probably tired of hearing it, but it always comes to fruition.

46:42 It just sometimes takes a while.

46:44 I feel like we're seeing from Wonderful now as well

46:46 that he is just rising up in the ranks, right?

46:48 He's in that MVP race against Macaz with the OP and with the rifle dust.

46:53 Yeah, indeed.

46:53 I mean, I think obviously the OP is what he's going to be most known for.

46:56 The fast firing speed, the flashy plays,

46:58 how he's able to be aggressive defensively with the AWP and take those angles.

47:01 But what we really see is he's like that mid

47:03 to late round specialist with an AK-47 on his hand.

47:05 You put him in the pack as a trade fragger.

47:07 You put him in those clutch moments

47:08 and he's able to deliver time and time again.

47:10 He actually I think at this event I'll let you take this over,

47:13 but I want to say he has a similar amount

47:15 of AK and OP kills already this event if I'm not mistaken.

47:17 I Yeah, he's actually I think it's pretty close.

47:19 I'm not sure the exact percentages off the top of my head,

47:21 but the thing is that Wonderful if the OP didn't exist in Counter-Strike.

47:25 I still think he's one of the 25 best players in the world.

47:29 Okay, he doesn't need the weapon to be his crutch

47:31 as we've seen some other opers in tier 1 CSB lately.

47:35 So the fact that he can make it work just

47:37 kind of we use the term confidence but players it

47:40 does really matter if he can just farm a few

47:42 kills with the AK if he's able to actually pat out

47:44 his stats on the T-side be an integral part

47:46 to space taking efforts which doesn't matter what gun he has

47:50 in his hands that's what leads to his consistency which I

47:52 feel like he's finding over time and it's getting better and better.

48:17 teams outside of Vitality I think that's the biggest thing

48:19 that I noticed from like a macro standpoint but even

48:21 just looking at the development of this team over time going

48:24 from a couple of splash results last year but nothing

48:26 consistent to coming into this year and now they're making

48:28 finals regularly they wanted an event obviously so This is

48:31 a team that has just had that progression happen over time.

48:34 I think people are getting more and more comfortable.

48:35 They're one of the organizations that elected not to make a move.

48:38 Some criticism came at them for doing that, but they've

48:40 bore fruit with keeping this five players on the server.

48:43 Again, you're seeing players get more comfortable.

48:45 They're performing at a higher level.

48:46 Their map pool is starting to recover after

48:48 a really really tough 25 in my opinion.

48:50 So, I think just everything is kind of improving

48:52 for them is is the point to make.

48:53 Yeah, we hate saying patience often and time for a roster,

48:56 but sometimes it does come into fruition.

48:58 So, let's talk a little bit about their opponents then.

49:00 And as always, when you start talking about Vitality in a grand final,

49:04 you have to talk about the accolades.

49:05 You have to talk about the road they are on Maui.

49:08 And it's becoming honestly a bit larger than life at this point.

49:11 It's ridiculous.

49:12 We are right now just starting and maybe some people even want

49:16 to finish the conversation whether this team is the greatest of all time.

49:20 I'd say my for me the jury is still out,

49:23 but they are furthermore securing their case as the best of all time.

49:27 This team has taken the book that Astrralles

49:29 has written and they're improving upon it.

49:31 The individuals, you could just point to any one

49:33 of them in the server at any given time.

49:35 He can give you win conditions.

49:36 And also the thing is that they recognize

49:38 in so many moments how to not give up advantages,

49:40 how to not actually just drop the ball.

49:43 That's so frequently you you get so many top teams

49:45 where you have players that just fall off on big stages.

49:48 Every single one of these guys is proven beyond reasonable doubt.

49:51 Indeed, as you saw there on the graph,

49:52 they've only lost two series this entire year.

49:54 And again, this is their 15th best of five

49:56 grand final and this is only their 22nd event plate.

49:59 I mean, it it's insane the level of consistency.

50:02 You know, 21 top four finishes in a row or better.

50:05 So, it's just that level that no one else really has.

50:07 And you've kind of talked about it.

50:08 It's their ability to have consistent performances to get

50:10 the job done when they have the advantage.

50:12 But even when they don't have the advantage,

50:13 think about how many 4v5s this team wins.

50:15 They lead that metric in the world right now.

50:17 It's also about the comebacks that they've made.

50:19 Yeah, we talked about how they've looked a little bit shaky,

50:21 a little more mortal, you know,

50:22 but they've shown resilience to be able to come back and get

50:24 those games anyway and not let them slip out of their hands.

50:26 Yeah, it is also the the things outside of the server,

50:28 right, which we we saw in the Astralis era as well.

50:31 You're traveling all the time.

50:32 You have jet lag.

50:33 You need to keep up the practice and Vitality has been vocal in that, well,

50:36 maybe we haven't practiced as much as we previously have.

50:38 They said that grand slam was really a big

50:41 moment that they really wanted to take time for.

50:43 And that might explain that here in the planes,

50:45 yeah, they lost their dust two streak.

50:46 They weren't as clean.

50:47 Their CT sides need a little bit of work here and there.

50:50 But the thing is, I feel like when they

50:52 get into that best of five final or any final,

50:54 it just all drops away.

50:56 Apex said himself that it really nobody's going to remember

50:59 a group stage map loss in the face of a trophy,

51:09 He wants to always try to put those in the rearview mirror.

51:12 And he's one of the most critical people that you could have on this team.

51:15 one that is always more and more hungry.

51:17 He's he has a voracious appetite for perfection and he doesn't

51:21 let his players slip and slide and when the calms aren't good,

51:24 he lets everybody in.

51:27 It might get to critical mass,

51:28 but he's going to bring them back out of it anyway by saying,

51:30 "Guys, wake up." Like, we're vitality, right?

51:32 And I think the crazy thing about, you know,

51:34 Apex is that, you know, obviously you always care about the trophies.

51:36 You care about the majors, you care about the grand slams.

51:38 Those are the priority.

51:40 But, you know, we always talk about the other smaller records that they have.

51:43 you know, these match streaks or the fact that they're only losing a couple

51:45 of series in a full year of play or something along those lines.

51:48 He keeps track of that stuff.

51:49 He knows them.

51:49 He He knows every little side quest, I guess you could say,

51:53 that they're on on this journey to submit themselves as the best to ever do it.

51:56 So, I think that's always something to think about as well.

51:59 It's funny because contrasted to Robs, Robs is just like,

52:01 well, if we lose our streak, we'll start a new one.

52:03 It isn't a big deal.

52:04 I mean, it's easy for him to say he's done it once before.

52:07 Let's talk about a couple of players because we highlighted Macaz

52:10 on the on the other side and I want to talk

52:12 about Flamesy a little because he's a phenomenal player but there

52:16 is a difference between his performance in 2025 and 20 2026 still indeed.

52:20 I mean Flamesy came into the squad and when they had

52:23 that you know seven title run to submit their era of last year.

52:26 He was a very strong player.

52:28 He played his aggressive roles well.

52:29 He played his anchor roles well but he kind of dropped off

52:32 of the second season if you can see it on his face.

52:34 He's letting you know how it went right.

52:35 but you know excited this year obviously because look

52:37 at the difference in rating in ADR like it's absurd.

52:40 He's also more successful in his opening duels

52:42 on the T-side and his mentality is pivoted.

52:45 We talked to him yesterday you know in an interview where he kind

52:47 of talked about you know how now the focus is a little bit better.

52:50 He does more individual preparation.

52:52 He feels like the way he prepares is better.

52:53 He also feels like even if things are going wrong he's able to stay in it better

52:56 mentally because he's always an active part

52:58 of the communication and game plan even if he's dead.

53:00 He just knows eventually an opportunity is going to come

53:02 where he can have impact and boy has it.

53:04 At the HLTV Awards to kick off this year, Vitality swept them.

53:08 They had coach of the year.

53:09 They had in-game leader of the year, player of the year,

53:11 opera of the year, closer of the year, anchor of the year.

53:14 They had practically everything.

53:15 The only thing they didn't have was entry of the year in 2026 thus far.

54:30 They're even becoming a more complete team that even

54:33 when they don't have that much onpoint practice,

54:51 one of the best ways to learn how to play

55:47 of the crowning moments for them if they are able

55:56 Na'Vi having the tape of Roderdam knowing exactly what they did wrong.

56:03 as he has been maybe not as perfect on the CT side.

56:33 It was a dominant map on Mirage.

56:35 These are the moments that are actually kind

56:37 of a trend for Vitality at this tournament.

56:39 The way that they lost to foot as well just felt like it was poorer spacing.

56:43 You have Robs and Zyu in a 2v3

56:45 and the Molly is just completely missed from Zyu here.

56:47 There's these just sloppy moments that you're getting from Vitality.

56:50 And yes, they still won the series.

56:52 Yes, they're still in the grand final here,

56:53 but these kind of moments weren't happening in the last four tournaments.

56:57 If you look at the trading percentages,

56:58 that also jumps off the page for me that this is the worst event

57:01 in terms of their trade kill percentage

57:04 that they've had in the last five tournaments.

57:06 So, some of the cracks are getting bigger for Vitality.

57:09 It is indeed a stark contrast to what we're used to seeing, right?

57:11 Even if you look at a map like Overpass, we're watching through that clip.

57:13 Vitality is one of the teams that like uses utility the best

57:16 on Overpass in my opinion when they're on their game, right?

57:19 The fact that they're able to usually

57:20 on T- sides flush people out with molotovs,

57:22 know where that guy's running to to get away from it,

57:24 and then you nade stack them.

57:25 The fact that they have those types of utility chains,

57:27 but we're seeing basic misses like that one is certainly worrying.

57:30 And yeah, the trading positions,

57:31 one of the biggest things about Vitality is is maybe they don't

57:34 always have like the the the crater strap no one's ever seen before,

57:36 but they usually have a well-rounded playbook that's

57:38 well balanced and they're always spacing and trading efficiently.

57:41 So to see that decline is a bit worrying.

57:43 Part of it may be the fact that they

57:45 haven't practiced in a while is what they keep saying.

57:47 I don't know, though.

57:47 It doesn't matter.

57:48 What matters is what result you put on the stage.

57:50 It's true.

57:50 And what matters is how you finish the job.

57:52 Because we were at the edge of our seats yesterday versus Gamer Legion,

57:55 we thought, are they going to push it into that third map,

57:57 but when you come to overtime in arenas like

57:59 this when the pressure is really really on Maui?

58:02 You can almost never bet against Vitality.

58:05 And they always get it done by the very end.

58:07 But I don't want to see a Vitality team that feels like,

58:09 as they did against Gamer Legion,

58:11 that they can procrastinate through a map,

58:13 that they can eventually get it over the line.

58:16 to just wipe the floor with a team like that.

58:20 But if we see more of the sloppy starts,

58:23 the rounds that aren't really pieced together as cleanly,

58:25 Apex himself has been talking about just a lack of communication

58:28 or just they're not being on the ball in those moments,

58:30 then a Na'Vi team will be one that can take advantage.

58:34 Yeah, I mean, it's just about Na'Vi taking that next step.

58:36 Again, you you see that steady incremental incline of of how they've performed,

58:40 how they've prepared, how they've gotten the results,

58:42 the tournaments they play, players stepping up individually.

58:45 That's all well and good,

58:46 but you have to be able to do it against this team, right?

58:48 the goats that are ahead of you at the number one pecking order.

58:50 And I think that that's the big thing.

58:51 It's one of those things where like unfortunately I have to see it

58:54 to believe it because I've just seen so many others come up to bat,

58:57 look really hot, and then not be able to show

58:58 the same level when they play a good team like Vitality.

2:12:49 but this was just Na'Vi getting pummeled round after

2:12:59 they did the triple smokes to try to block those kinds of plays from happening,

2:13:11 One was is that we kind of critiqued the fact that Vitality's utility was sloppy

2:13:15 throughout the course of this tournament when they've

2:13:16 oh so well on it every other time.

2:13:18 They were surgical with how they used

2:13:20 their nades and incendiaries on that second half comeback.

2:13:22 I mean, so much damage, so many frags,

2:13:24 and that's what they're so good at when they're on their game.

2:13:26 Not only did they have all the fundamentals,

2:13:28 they had that extra flare that's going to catch you off guard like that.

2:13:30 The other thing we talked about pregame was what was it

2:13:32 going to be like watching Macaz and Apex do in the yard.

2:13:34 Two different philosophies.

2:13:36 Star player for Na'Vi in the yard,

2:13:37 in-game leader in the yard for the vitality side.

2:13:39 Apex outfragged him.

2:13:40 so hard in that second half.

2:13:42 They never even took a fair fight really though.

2:13:47 you're going to put your money on Macaz there.

2:14:20 Clutch after clutch after clutch dust.

2:14:23 It was a combination of clutches for sure.

2:14:24 I mean, Wonderful had a couple of big moments.

2:14:26 We obviously saw really a lot of different players.

2:14:28 Emo was having a hell of a game if we're honest.

2:14:30 So, they really did have a lot of clutch

2:14:31 plays and a lot of things go their way early.

2:14:33 They had obviously the very hot start of 11-0.

2:14:35 And what I liked about this first half

2:14:36 from Na'Vi as we were preparing for what we thought

2:14:38 would be the huge upset on the stage was

2:14:40 that they gave a lot of different looks to Vitality.

2:14:43 That's what I want to credit them for.

2:14:44 You know, the way that they were, you know,

2:14:45 boosting Makaz on top of that spot in front of Big Garage or moving Wonderful's

2:14:49 AWP around or just generally scrambling them

2:14:52 and then when they were going for the retakes,

2:14:53 when they were going for the clutch moments,

2:14:55 they held their nerve in those pressure situations

2:14:57 and were able to come out on top.

2:14:58 So, it was really tough to see that slip through their fingers at that point,

2:15:02 especially after they did so much of the heavy lifting to get

2:15:05 this great of a CT start off the back of heroic plays.

2:15:08 That's not usually what you get.

2:15:10 That's the X factor that it felt like

2:15:11 would carry Na'Vi over the edge versus Vitality.

2:15:14 Now, they just feel like all these clutches are wasted performances.

2:15:17 So, right because you you start to have that belief that no matter what happens,

2:15:21 we'll be able to turn uh the rounds around, but then it starts to creep in.

2:15:25 And I think one of these rounds is very important in that regard.

2:15:28 It was 15 where Robs actually gets his first clutch.

2:15:32 It is left to them to finish it and we're going to look at it after.

2:15:35 But for me that kind of was the straw that broke

2:15:37 the camel's back because this is where you can get to 12, right?

2:15:42 Yeah, I mean I think Ross has had a really cold tournament throughout the group

2:15:53 Also, just look at what he did defensively throughout.

2:16:30 It was Flames constantly repositioning whether he was coming secret,

2:16:33 whether he was coming mini, he was at times helping duel.

2:16:35 One of the big things I noticed in that final

2:16:37 stretch for them is every time that Na'Vi made a commitment,

2:16:40 there was always one more there than they expected.

2:16:42 If they take ramp, okay,

2:16:43 there's one guy peeking us from ramp, one guy turnpike to trade.

2:16:45 No, Vitality had another guy turnpike to trade.

2:16:48 It was always that layered rotation that really just puts Vitality out in front.

2:16:52 so many contingency plans and it's so interesting

2:16:54 because we talked so much about they are weaker,

2:16:57 they've lost a couple of streaks,

2:16:58 there've been comments about not being as as precise with their practice

2:17:02 or that they are getting a little bit tired of everything, right?

2:17:04 I didn't see any of that on the CT side.

2:17:07 It almost like they added an extra layer still

2:17:10 just working in the shadows for a moment like this.

2:17:13 The scary thing about this game is that the vitality from the first

2:17:16 half is what we saw in the group stage leading up to it.

2:17:19 one that's sloppy, that couldn't fight in trades,

2:17:22 that was getting outplayed tactically.

2:17:24 Second half, they turned it on again.

2:17:26 This is the Vitality that is continuing their era.

2:17:28 I'll up your I think the scarier thing is

2:17:30 the fact that we just watched Vitality do that.

2:17:32 They have not often been put in situations where they have

2:17:34 to claw back huge comebacks in the best of five grand final.

2:17:51 the greatest always rise to the occasion and they did.
