YouTube Keeps Getting Better
LMGClips
0:00 YouTube is opening up its AI powered
0:03 likeness detection tool to all of Hollywood.
0:06 Actors, musicians, athletes, and the talent agencies and management
0:09 companies that represent them will be able
0:12 to use this tool that works kind of like content ID except for faces.
0:17 Scanning the platform for AI generated deep fakes of enrolled
0:21 individuals and then letting them review and request removal.
0:24 It is free, optin, and works even if the person doesn't have a YouTube channel.
0:30 The tool's been in a phased roll out since actually late 2024,
0:33 starting with CAA clients and then expanding to about 5,000 creators last fall,
0:38 then to politicians and journalists in March.
0:40 The entertainment industry is the biggest expansion yet with CAA,
0:43 UTA, WME, and uh untitled management already on board.
0:48 YouTube says that enrollment data is only used for detection
0:52 and is not used to train Google's AI models.
0:55 Flag videos are reviewed individually and content that falls
0:58 under parody satire or commentary may stay up.
1:01 The expansion comes after Sor after the Sora launch last fall
1:05 flooded the internet with deep fakes of celebrities and dead public figures,
1:08 making the need for this kind of tool kind of hard to argue against.
1:13 It's cool that YouTube's doing it.
1:14 That's that's sweet.
1:15 And for free.
1:16 That's awesome.
1:17 YouTube is not perfect.
1:19 I call them out in public and in private on a pretty regular basis.
1:25 However, however, however, let's look at all the other large video platforms.
1:34 This is I I know I've said it on W show before,
1:36 but this is what I keep going back to.
1:38 Tik Tok, Meta, dude, relatively speaking, they're awesome.
1:45 they've been for for a company to be on top as well for as long as not
1:50 not only around but as big and on top for as long as they have been.
1:57 I am very surprised they don't seem way
2:02 worse and way more corrupt than they are.
2:04 Think about how Think about how often big tech changes the deal.
2:13 Pray I don't alter it any further.
2:15 Yeah.
2:15 And with users with users,
2:17 I think there's there's a pretty strong argument to be made
2:20 that they they have changed the deal in pretty substantial ways.
2:24 Some of those changes, in my opinion,
2:27 uh come with the reality of just not being like
2:29 VC funded anymore and needing to run a profitable business model.
2:33 I can't I can't blame them for that.
2:35 You got you got to eat.
2:37 Um, but in terms of the way
2:39 that they've engaged with the creators on their platform,
2:42 the ones who give it the value,
2:44 the way that they have consistently stuck with that profit share model is nuts.
2:52 Yeah.
2:52 literally even seeing even seeing how the model works whether we're
2:58 talking Vine whether we're talking Tik Tok or Meta no matter
3:02 who it is even seeing that obvious playbook that has worked
3:06 so well YouTube calls it they call it a flywheel right
3:10 the flywheel spins creators create amazing content which benefits YouTube which
3:15 makes money which goes to creators who spend it on content who
3:17 make better content that flywheel that YouTube relies on to continue
3:22 elevating the level of content on it and attracting creators to it.
3:27 It's in public.
3:29 It's plain for everyone to see and nobody else can just they can't do it.
3:36 They can't take out their wallet and just share the revenue.
3:40 kind of funny because by by by many accounts it's like actually cheaper
3:46 and easier than doing something like Netflix
3:49 where you have to make the content yourself.
3:51 Uh but just no one else will do it.
3:53 But I I I I still maintain like YouTube is really
3:58 cool considering what it could be and there's some stuff that sucks.
4:02 I'm still salty about the dislike button
4:04 and and shorts have been very frustrating for me.
4:07 Although I do have an interesting update.
4:09 I heard on the open source creator Discord a few people got access
4:13 to the app update and it does what we were hoping it would do.
4:19 When you set your shorts limit to 0 minutes,
4:22 it removes shorts entirely from your like main page,
4:27 but if you go to a creator, you can still find the shorts.
4:30 And that that is completely fine in my mind.
4:33 Um, I still don't like that if you do manually go find some shorts,
4:37 uh, it's incredibly easy to bypass your zero minute limit.
4:42 Um, but the fact that it kind of removes it from there is cool.
4:46 And no,
4:46 I got it.
4:47 The Oh, nice.
4:49 Yeah.
4:49 Yeah.
4:49 Let's check it out.
4:50 Uh, okay.
4:50 So, I have it now.
4:52 Short speed limit 0 minutes.
4:56 So, I'm going to Yeah, I'm going to close the app.
4:59 Yeah.
5:00 And then I'm going to I'll I'll log into uh I'll log into my account.
5:04 Actually, no.
5:04 I'll I'll stay on the LT account.
5:06 I guess
5:06 I saw shorts.
5:08 Okay, shorts.
5:09 Yeah, I see shorts immediately.
5:11 No, they're gone.
5:12 They're they're gone.
5:13 Wait, scroll down.
5:14 No, that's playlist play.
5:15 Oh, wait.
5:16 YouTube playables.
5:16 Oh, for crying out loud.
5:17 Can I get rid of these?
5:18 Not interested.
5:19 Okay.
5:25 Yeah.
5:25 Okay.
5:26 Yeah.
5:26 No shorts.
5:27 Holy bananas.
5:28 Sweet.
5:28 Top news.
5:33 Holy bananas, dude.
5:37 That's crazy.
5:39 No shorts.
5:39 Also, this is a this is a quality recommendation.
5:44 You're going to get uh How is that How is that in my recommendations right now?
5:56 Fantastic.
5:56 Um, was Yeah,
5:59 that's a that's a throwback.
6:01 Was that the work account?
6:04 Uh, someone's looking up the the dash boot beer song.
6:06 Amazing.
6:07 Amazing.
6:07 vat9.com.
6:10 Uh,
6:11 is VAT9 still around?
6:13 I have no idea.
6:15 Now I want to know.
6:19 Yes.
6:19 All right, let's let's see what's on Bat 19.
6:21 Oh, okay.
6:22 It feels like the same stuff, though.
6:24 This is literally like I I think they made
6:27 the video about this 5B gummy bear over 10 years ago.
6:31 Yeah.
6:32 Honestly, I saw the gummy bear and then I
6:34 saw the micromagnets and I was like nothing has changed, dude.
6:38 I mean, look, why would you hold on a second?
6:42 Hold get out of here.
6:43 Look listen, sir.
6:45 I ain't a mathematician, but let me tell you, let me tell you this.
6:50 Times How much is it?

7:08 Do it that way.
7:10 That is That is wild.
7:15 It's interesting that they they put like a like
7:17 a purchase counter on seems like every product.
7:20 It's not just It's not just key ones.
7:23 Rubber chicken pen.
7:25 That seems like dancing.
7:27 Okay.
7:29 Well, yeah, that's that's definitely a site that still exists.
7:33 The superersized playground ball with unmatched durability.
7:39 No discount on this one.
7:41 It can handle a little Oh, this is new.
7:42 This is in their their new uh tab.

7:49 catching a ball with the world's largest glove.
