1:34 They say they can't do anything to lower gas prices right now.

1:40 They can't do anything on how expensive housing is in this country.

1:43 The federal government has not taken any action since

1:46 Donald Trump was elected to try to reduce inflation,

1:48 to try to materially improve your life, create jobs, increase wages,

1:52 do something that might actually make your life just a little bit easier.

1:55 Because how many of you are working your asses off right now,

1:59 working a couple of jobs, trying to take care of your family,

2:01 trying to figure out a way to retire with dignity and buy a house,

2:03 and god, maybe take a vacation every now and again, which would be lovely.

2:08 And these people can't find any solution for that.

2:12 But my god, Donald Trump says we need a ballroom.

2:14 Donald Trump wants to demolish the east wing of the White

2:17 House to build this goddy awful thing that he wants.

2:20 And look how quickly the federal government moved.

2:22 We had this incident at the White House correspondence dinner.

2:24 You can believe whatever you want.

2:26 If you think it was staged or not, I have no idea.

2:27 And I wouldn't put it past him.

2:29 But I'll tell you this, watch how fast,

2:32 look at how fast the Republicans in Congress

2:34 moved to go from this is a privately funded ballroom to we're going to spend

2:38 a billion dollars in taxpayer money to build it.

2:41 that tells you their priorities.

2:43 And the fact that John Federman, a Democratic senator,

2:46 somebody in my party who should be

2:48 standing up to Donald Trump on this stupidity,

2:50 somebody who should be using his power and his influence to try

2:53 to do something that might actually help workingclass Americans in Pennsylvania,

2:57 is spending his time on Bill Maher's

2:59 show talking about how we need the ballroom,

3:02 justifying how we need the ballroom.

3:03 We don't need this ballroom, guys.

3:06 I'm sure that the Secret Service and the federal government could do a better

3:08 job protecting this president and any other

3:11 president and other members of the cabinet.

3:14 But the idea that we need to spend

3:15 a billion dollars when we couldn't extend the health

3:18 care subsidies that prevented tens of millions of Americans

3:21 from seeing their healthcare premiums triple or double.

3:23 The fact that that Donald Trump said we don't have money

3:26 for child care and then launched an illegal war in Iran.

3:29 the fact that every single time somebody says,

3:32 "Wouldn't it be great if the government made sure

3:34 that people don't go bankrupt when they get sick?

3:36 Wouldn't it be great if kids who go to college to try to better their lives,

3:41 to go into the workforce,

3:42 to create a job and opportunity didn't have mountains of student loan debt?

3:45 Oh my god, you socialist.

3:47 You communist traitor.

3:49 How could you dare suggest that America's broke, Mike?" No,

3:52 America isn't broke because we got money for the ballroom.

3:55 We got money for the war.

3:56 We got money for every stupid thing that Donald Trump wants to do.

3:59 They're putting his face on passports.

4:01 They're building the Ark to Trump to celebrate America's 250th anniversary.

4:05 We're putting on a a UFC fight in front of the White House.

4:08 We got money for that, but we don't got money to help you.

4:10 And meanwhile, the debt and the deficit have

4:12 never been higher because that's what always happens.

4:15 Republicans spend money on stupid[ __] and then

4:17 Democrats have to come in and fix it.

4:18 And unfortunately, Democrats are not good right now at getting enough[ __] done

4:22 to make you feel like there's a material impact and improvement in your life.

4:25 They're going to have to get better at that when they win the midterms.

4:27 They're going to have to get better at that.

4:29 We win the presidential election in 2028.

4:31 But these two clowns could not be more disconnected.

4:33 Bill Maher is the last person I want to hear about what this country needs from.

4:37 And Senator Federman doesn't know anything.

4:40 And he's currently pondering a bribe that Donald

4:42 Trump offered him to switch political parties.

4:44 So, he's nothing more than a plant to embarrass the Democratic party.

4:48 And Bill Maher because it's good for his ratings.

4:50 It's good for his attention.

4:51 It's good for him to get Donald Trump to pick up

4:54 the phone and invite him to dinner is going to continue

4:56 to carry this water at a time when again the average

4:59 American says they can't afford to pay their rent or their mortgage.

5:01 That's why people are pissed.

5:03 It's not because we hate Donald Trump.

5:07 But it's because the ballroom is a bad idea.

5:09 If Donald Trump comes up with a good idea,

6:46 but like these people were not really in danger.

6:48 This guy was two floors above them and they've decided to concoct

6:52 this conspiracy theory that it was

6:53 a legitimate assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

6:55 And like I I I just don't buy that anybody was actually all that scared.

6:59 I'm sure it's a scary incident when there's a lockdown in a situation like that.

7:02 I'm not going to pretend like it's not, but this guy was never close.

7:05 John Federman was never in danger.

7:07 Donald Trump was never in danger.

7:09 The Secret Service, while imperfect, largely did their jobs,

7:12 assuming based on the story that we've been told at this moment.

7:15 They largely did their jobs.

7:16 These people were never in danger.

7:17 And it does not justify the ballroom.

7:19 So John Federman can spare me with the goddamn crocodile tears here.

8:04 about gas prices and we're going to go throw a dinner with him.

8:07 Donald Trump wouldn't even show up if they

8:10 invited a comedian to speak at the event.

8:12 The whole reason the White House correspondent dinner had any

8:15 actual utility to the average American person was because it was

8:19 healthy for the president of the United States to sit

8:21 a few feet away from a comedian who absolutely roasted his ass.

8:25 Bush did it.

8:26 Bill Clinton did it.

8:27 Barack Obama did it.

8:28 Ronald Reagan did it.

8:29 Wasn't that hard.

8:30 Ronald Reagan took all his lumps from uh Don Don Rickles.

8:36 This is a thing that was supposed to be a an expression of free speech,

8:43 And then this thing happens and it becomes about building him a stupid ballroom.

8:47 So again, they're so disconnected from what the actual American people want.

8:54 As much as he loves to pretend that he's not part of the elite

8:59 hoodie and he dresses like a college kid.

9:02 But like you are part of the elite.

9:47 Well, the president of the United States, who is the leader of the free world,

9:52 of the president from either of these two yuckleheads,

9:55 is focused on the ballroom,

9:58 is focused on the UFC fight, is focused on putting his face on passports,

10:01 is focused on going after his political enemies,

10:03 is not focused on anything that is going to materially improve your life.

10:06 So, don't lecture me because I call out the ballroom for what it is

10:11 and say that I'm the one who's the hater because I don't like the ballroom.

10:15 You two are the haters because you hate workingclass Americans.

10:19 You hate people who are showing up every day to take care of their families,

10:22 to take care of their communities,

10:23 to punch in at work and do their jobs, who are desperate for relief.

10:50 Maybe the answer isn't that they need a new ballroom.

10:59 What's the value of having King Charles come here

11:02 and have the entire government show up to applaud the king?

11:05 And I don't have anything against King Charles.

11:14 something the United States government doesn't seem capable of doing.

11:20 was applauding the king and the king's giving a speech.

11:22 Like there's value to some of that, but like again,

11:25 if you're sitting at home and you're you're desperate for some kind of relief,

11:29 you're desperate for any politician to seem like they give a[ __] about you,

11:33 that they've got a fresh idea to improve your life,

11:36 that they're actually trying to move that forward.

11:38 What are you thinking when you watch the White House correspondents dinner?

11:41 When you see the king speaking,

11:43 when you see Donald Trump holding up photos of him showing how cool

11:46 the the UFC fight in front of the White House is going to be,

11:48 like, what are you thinking?

11:49 You're thinking this government doesn't work for me.

11:51 you're thinking you want to burn it all down.

11:53 A big part of the reason Trump got elected in the first place,

11:55 and this is how I'll close the video,

11:57 is because the system was so thoroughly broken.

12:00 That people believe that it was better to hand the keys over to a maniac

12:03 in the hope that him burning it down would lead to something better.

12:07 And we all know now it's dramatically worse because that maniac is stealing

12:11 from you and trying to detach you from reality and trying to hurt you.

12:18 is a class of people in DC, a pundantry class,

12:21 an Epstein class, a billionaire class, however you want to describe it,

12:32 I would assume the New York or the Hollywood class,

12:35 Same with the Mech Gala this last week.

12:39 out against capitalism at the Mech Galla.

12:41 I thought everybody looks stupid and ridiculous.

12:43 There's no plan to improve your life.

12:45 They're so disconnected and these people need to get both feet
