2:04 THE FIFTH BIGGEST OPENING OF all time is also

2:08 the top opening ever for African-American director Ryan Ryan Coogler.

2:13 He's only 31 YEARS OLD.

2:15 IT'S INCREDIBLE.

2:18 Well, this is the thing.

2:20 He He did Fruitvale Station and then he did Creed.

2:23 On both of those movies he had small budgets, but he made large profits.

2:28 So, this one Black Panther,

2:30 they gave him 200 MILLION DOLLARS AND IT HASN'T

2:35 even been released in Japan or China or Russia yet.

5:28 Movies spend so much money to get into PR, you know,

5:31 they'll they'll market everything, go to McDonald's,

5:33 put everything on Happy Meal, but it's incredible that this movie was the one

5:37 that struck me most when it comes to social media involvement.

5:40 Everybody was telling their friends about, you know, watching this movie.

5:43 And then the community got involved

5:45 by creating activities centered around Black Panther.

5:47 Like us, you know talking about here on the real,

5:49 the schools that would make it a field trip.

5:51 That just shows you right there that you guys have

5:54 the power to push more of what you want to see.

5:55 If anybody out there says that an all black cast

5:58 can't an all black leading cast can't be profitable, shut up.

6:05 AND I HAVE TO SAY, I WASN'T A Marvel fan before.

6:08 Oh my gosh, now I want to see all of the Marvel films.

6:13 We want to give a special shout out to Kendrick Lamar and Top DAWG #TDE.

6:27 could actually go and see the film for free.

6:32 Also, if we could show the creator of uh Black Panther.

6:37 He sent out a lovely message to Chadwick Boseman um Stanley.

6:41 It was It was created um he said that he basically

6:44 he was so thrilled that Chadwick was actually doing um Black Panther.

6:49 He created it in 1966 to show inclusion and he's just over the moon about it.

6:54 And the thing is you guys, now that you have the Black Panther um platform,

6:59 Black Panther is going to be returning in May for the Avengers Infinity SAGA.

7:06 IT'S REALLY NICE I'M SO EXCITED.

7:09 I feel like I am living in a time where we are seeing major change happening

7:14 and I feel like this blockbuster moment is

7:30 The thing is is that this movie was such a blockbuster,

7:34 I believe Genie and you guys, is because of the budget that they had.

7:38 When you have that amount of money and the means,

7:41 you can do so many great things,

7:43 the special effects, things like that, you know.

9:08 I will say this, we our family actually saw the film in Agoura Hills.

9:17 mainly Caucasian and it was beautiful to see.

9:20 Well, Agoura Hills, I mean, you know, Now, YOU GO TO COMPTON, NOW, but

9:25 But I'm just saying, everyone was there and everyone was loving them.

9:30 It's for everyone.

9:31 I mean, that the reviews, I mean, that tells you too.

9:33 But it also tells you about theaters.

9:35 Make sure that you're placing it in theaters where everybody has access to it.

9:38 You've got to make sure that it's equal.

9:50 of people that look like me and my children.

17:20 over some anti-Trump comments he had previously made.

17:27 high school a year early to join the NBA.

17:30 Keep the political commentary to yourself or as someone once said,

17:35 "Shut up and dribble."

17:41 with many calling her remarks ignorant and racist.

17:44 Over the weekend, James did respond to quote,

17:47 "Whatever her name is." As he put it.

17:50 We will definitely not uh shut up and dribble.

17:53 Um I will definitely not do that.

17:55 I mean too much to um um to society.

18:00 I mean too much to the youth.

18:01 I mean too much to the uh to to so many kids that feel like they don't have a um

18:09 to help lead them out of the situation they're in.

18:19 their mind or should they stay in their lane?

18:23 Every single person in America is allowed to speak their opinion.

18:30 But at the same time, it's really short-sighted and judgmental

18:34 for her to think that athletes don't have an opinion or people who finish who

18:38 don't finish high school shouldn't speak their mind.

18:43 if we only listen to people who graduate or finish high school,

18:46 where would our country be?

18:48 point more than ever, our voices all count.

18:52 And I also think there's brilliant minds and talents who,

18:56 it doesn't mean that they're not worth listening to or that they

18:59 have success and the potential for that, you know?

19:02 I think sometimes people think that celebrities or entertainers

19:05 shouldn't speak their mind on these certain issues.

19:07 But the reality is is sometimes I think it's a responsibility

19:11 Because we have certain platforms and opportunities that maybe others

19:18 So, if you're passionate about something, SPEAK YOUR MIND.

19:20 IF YOU HAVE the platform and the voice

19:22 to speak for the voiceless, why wouldn't you?

19:25 And why wouldn't you encourage that?

19:26 I just don't understand where I don't understand the rudeness in the comment.

19:31 I mean, first of all, he did graduate high school, like Genie said.

19:36 Secondly, why don't we talk about the positive things?

34:25 People started a scholarship fund for Jordan Edwards,

34:28 who was murdered by police last year.

34:30 Um, he was leaving a party with his uh brothers

34:32 and they were just driving away and he was slain.

34:35 And they used their platform to start scholarship,

34:38 the Jordan Edwards Memorial Scholarship.

34:40 And I really think it's it's things like that that really make people feel like

34:45 their voices are heard and if anyone wants

34:47 to give whatever they can to the scholarship, that would be amazing because um,

34:51 we have to show that these people are important.
