Attending THE GRAMMYS as a NON-CELEBRITY... 😳 everything they don't show you on TV

Makayla Lysiak

0:00 In today's vlog, we are going to the Grammys.

0:02 But like, are you going to the Grammys?

0:04 We'll explain that later.

0:05 I'm going to show you everything you don't see.

0:07 This is what it's like as a nonseleelebrity going to one of these things.

0:11 I have no dress.

0:12 From arrival to what happens during commercial breaks,

0:14 what it's like walking around the venue and even the red carpet.

0:18 Seeing celebrities, this is crazy.

0:20 We're on the road to 600K.

0:21 If you could subscribe, that would mean the world to me.

0:23 And let's get into it.

0:25 A lot of people don't know this, but so

0:27 many events and parties happen a week before the Grammys.

0:30 It's essentially Grammy week in Los Angeles.

0:32 So, our first stop is Grammy House in downtown LA,

0:34 where you can watch live performances from upcoming Grammyu artists,

0:38 network with the academy members, or run into my sister Melissa,

0:41 who works in the music industry and is an intern at the Recording Academy.

0:45 She is the entire reason this series of events is even possible.

0:48 I'll explain more in depth later in the video,

0:50 but she's really allowing me to step into her world because

0:52 my subscribers know that I'm on the film side of the entertainment industry,

0:55 and in both worlds, there's brand partnerships and advertising.

0:58 As you can see, while we're walking around Grammy House,

1:00 there's different sponsor booths for brands to be affiliated with the event.

1:04 I did get invited by Redkin to stop by this booth,

1:07 and it was nice that my sister was already

1:08 at the event so I could hang out with her.

1:10 And we got to keep some free products, which was also nice.

1:12 Thank you, Redkin.

1:13 But what's really exciting are the mainstage

1:16 performances where we got to see Duran Bernard who wins a Grammy later

1:19 in this video and R&B singer songwriter Ari Lennox.

1:27 She broke the charts with hits like Shea Butter Baby and Fresher.

1:31 Show some love to Ari.

1:46 It was a dream of mine to get that first apartment.

1:49 Y'all hear me?

1:53 I'm always trying to make anything a serious.

1:58 She and her voice were absolutely stunning.

2:00 Then it was time to go home.

2:02 I'm home from the Grammy House event.

2:06 I have pages due.

2:07 Uh, I am in college.

2:09 For those who don't know, I'm in college.

2:11 I have pages due Sunday morning at um 10:00 a.m.

2:16 30 pages.

2:17 I'm going to be working, but I am going to try and get a dress tomorrow,

2:21 which ends up being a big fiasco I did not anticipate.

2:23 After writing up until past midnight,

2:26 I woke up the next morning ready to go dress shopping.

2:29 We're at the Centry City Mall, the Westfield,

2:31 and we're going to go look at dresses for the Grammys.

2:34 This was very impromptu.

2:35 I didn't I I don't know why I didn't think I needed a dress.

2:39 Um, but I think I do need to wear something formal.

2:42 So, we're going to go look for stuff.

2:44 I am so terrible at shopping for myself.

2:46 I am going to explore like personal style and really refining that this year.

2:50 Like, I have a color analysis appointment set

2:52 up because I think the first step is

2:53 just figuring out what colors and shades even

2:56 complement my skin tone and like my complexion.

3:00 We're going to figure it all out.

3:01 We're going to look for some dresses.

3:03 Please help.

3:04 The first of several stops was Nordstrom,

3:06 which I'd soon find out didn't have the dress for me.

3:09 Which dress screams plus one.

3:11 I feel like all these look very old.

3:14 I need something youthful, a little sexy.

3:18 I also have to consider my braids.

3:20 I feel like I look good in red.

3:22 I won't look good in this dress cuz I

3:24 don't think anyone would look good in this dress.

3:27 Flight attendant.

3:28 Um, no.

3:29 Not coming for Sabrina's bag.

3:31 Pretty though, but I don't know.

3:32 I feel like the color might wash me out.

3:34 Okay, so this is this dress, size four.

3:38 I don't think I really like it.

3:39 This is unflattering.

3:41 I also think the color isn't the prettiest on me.

3:43 This looks gray on the camera.

3:45 It's green in person, but it's not going to pick up.

3:48 Next option is fits like perfectly here.

3:51 And I don't know what's happening right here.

3:55 This is what it's like as a non celebrity going to one of these things.

4:00 It's not glamorous.

4:01 It's like you're going to a department

4:02 stores and you're trying to find an outfit.

4:03 Melissa, this is size small.

4:07 You're so little.

4:08 It's not fitting.

4:09 This isn't This is a normal person.

4:11 You don't have a stylist.

4:12 You don't have any help.

4:14 Like you're just kind of

4:18 Yeah.

4:17 It's going to be our last.

4:19 Okay, I'm going to change and then let's head out of here.

4:22 Plus, I'm like back from my vacation and my legs are like peeling.

4:28 You see that?

4:29 Cuz I got sunburnt.

4:30 So, it's so embarrassing, guys.

4:33 So, we headed out to another store, hoping our luck would change.

4:35 The Beverly Center wasn't far away,

4:37 but the perfect dress was because we didn't find it here.

4:39 They had a lot of dresses, but not many in my size.

4:42 The ones that were in my size were um So, this is a night gown.

4:48 No luck here.

4:49 Walk of shame.

4:50 Back to the car.

4:51 No luck.

4:52 But we can't give up now.

4:53 This is a good problem to have.

4:54 We're going to the Grammy.

4:56 Like if your problem of the day is that you can't find a Grammys dress,

4:59 you're having a blessed problem.

5:00 I'm running into Oolie cuz it was only a mile away from the Beverly Center.

5:04 See if we can find anything there.

5:06 Let's go.

5:07 Walking through these doors would open up a world of dress possibilities.

5:10 Okay, they have so many options.

5:13 Like so many.

5:15 And they're cute.

5:16 It was time to find the right one in the fitting room.

5:19 One, it has straps.

5:20 I don't know.

5:21 Dress number two.

5:22 I wish it was like a halter.

5:23 It is also short.

5:25 It's pretty.

5:26 Very flattering.

5:28 I feel like I like the other white neck dress.

5:32 This looks great on camera.

5:33 The straps I think are removable.

5:38 This one is so pretty.

5:40 It took me too long to put this on.

5:42 Next.

5:44 It's okay.

5:45 Same as the cream.

5:46 I'd say this is a no, but the color looks good on me.

5:50 I actually kind of like it over the shoulder like pose.

5:54 I think it comes with this like cape thing.

5:57 I don't know.

5:58 Okay, there is this cream one.

6:01 Is this the right way?

6:03 This is also really pretty.

6:06 I just need protection.

6:09 While there were many nominees, only one dress can win.

6:11 For now, we're checking out with the red,

6:12 the pink, and the cream, and we'll decide later.

6:15 Okay, we got our stuff.

6:16 I also need to get shoes.

6:19 Almost forgot about the shoes.

6:21 So, we ran to the Grove,

6:22 went to the Nordstrom sale shoe section and grabbed some pairs.

6:25 Say a prayer and cracking Alani.

6:29 Let's go.

6:30 I was up until like 4:00 a.m.

6:31 doing script pages.

6:34 full-time student.

6:35 So, yes, I'm going to the Grammys on only 4 hours of sleep.

6:38 The pages were due at 10:00 a.m.

6:39 It's been sleepless nights editing these videos for you guys.

6:42 Subscribe to the channel.

6:43 This is a pity plead.

6:44 I went to Target.

6:45 I got some eyebrow scissors cuz my eyebrows

6:48 are overgrown and I want them to look good.

6:50 I feel like brows frame your face.

6:52 Let me kind of give the story as to how this is happening, why this happening.

6:57 I'm going to the Grammys thanks to my sister Melissa.

7:00 My sister is also a college student and some

7:02 of you guys were like, "Who's your sister?

7:04 Who is your sister?

7:05 How are you going to the Grammys?" My sister works at the recording academy.

7:09 She's interning and she works in their diversity,

7:12 equity, and inclusion department.

7:14 She also got a scholarship from them.

7:16 They like hand selected her and they were like, "Oh,

7:19 do you want to go to the Grammys and you

7:20 can bring a plus one?" So, I'm a plus one.

7:22 Y'all know I go to a lot of events and usually I'm bringing people,

7:27 but she's bringing me and I'm so excited

7:29 because she's been working so hard in school.

7:32 She is a business major, but she also is doing a specialty in music industry.

7:37 It's just so cool when you have like family that's doing well,

7:40 you're doing well, and it's just very, very blessed.

7:44 So, she basically told me what the Grammys is.

7:47 Now, you all know I'm a film girl.

7:50 She's a music girl.

7:50 Yes, the Grammys is like the Emmys and the Oscars of the music industry.

7:55 I mean, I obviously know of the Grammys, but I didn't know that it was a whole

8:00 entire concert and there were so many different artists performing.

8:03 All that to say, I didn't know what I was getting myself into.

8:07 because she works with the Recording Academy.

8:09 I assumed like, "Oh, okay.

8:11 We're going to be backstage cuz you're

8:12 going to be working." She's like, "No, girl.

8:14 We're attending." So, I'm like, "Oh, okay." So, I have no dress.

8:21 And I had 2 months to prepare for this.

8:23 And of course, because it's me,

8:24 because everything boils down to the last minute with every single thing I do.

8:29 Cough, cough.

8:29 I was doing pages up until 4:00 a.m.

8:31 last night.

8:32 We had to buy a dress last minute.

8:33 I posted on Instagram.

8:35 What dress do I wear?

8:36 I still don't know what I'm wearing today,

8:38 but I'm doing my makeup and we're gonna figure it out.

8:40 I have three dresses.

8:41 Follow me on Instagram if you don't already because if this happens again,

8:45 I want to rely on my YouTube girls.

8:47 You guys are getting back to me right now as I speak doing

8:49 my makeup because we only have an hour and we have to be there early.

8:53 If y'all follow this channel,

8:54 you know every week is different and when there's a plan, it changes.

8:58 really just want this place to be for other go-getters,

9:02 other people who want to make strides in their life,

9:05 but also like there's personal sides where we're getting ready,

9:08 we're doing things last minute, or we're applying for jobs together,

9:11 but then reaping the fruits of our labor later together.

9:14 I think this channel showcases that journey of just being in your 20s,

9:18 being ambitious, and wanting more for yourself.

9:21 That is the trajectory of this channel.

9:24 Whether it's showcasing like how you can be

9:26 a go-getter in your personal life through embracing

9:28 your style or self-help and working on your lifestyle

9:32 to like actual work and career things.

9:34 If you want to see that, please stick around.

9:36 I would love for you to be here.

9:37 I sort of diffuse it on my hand

9:40 like a paint palette evenly distributed onto the tool.

9:43 In between steps, I like to go in and spray

9:46 a setting spray the powder melt from one size.

9:49 I'll just link all the products on this video if you didn't know.

9:52 YouTube has like a shopping tab now.

9:55 They're doing everything.

10:05 Imagine the spray bottle going out.

10:11 Literally out.

10:12 This is what I use for my freckles.

10:13 I love this thing.

10:14 I like putting them in like random spots.

10:18 I'm going to go fix the hair and put on a dress and I'll see you later.

10:25 Okay, red dress.

10:28 I got these shoes.

10:31 I feel like I would love this look

10:32 with a different hairstyle and I can't change my hairstyle.

10:36 Back off, Gabriella.

10:37 Like, it's giving me Gabriella.

10:39 Melissa, come here with a poochie outfit.

10:43 Nasty with a poochie outfit.

10:45 Okay, this dress.

10:47 No, I want to see the other one.

10:50 Okay,

10:55 cuz I feel like the hair flows into it.

10:57 Yeah, the hair flows into it.

10:58 Like draping.

11:00 I love it.

11:02 A That's the one.

11:04 Yay.

11:04 Melie and I are ready to go.

11:07 Also, tell me why her friend brought a digital camera and they said,

11:11 "Yeah, we're throwing that in the trash.

11:12 You're not allowed to have it." They threw it away.

11:15 So, we're not iPhone photos and hopefully someone will take our picture.

11:20 Let's go.

11:21 It's time to catch an Uber to the Grammys.

11:25 Got it.

11:26 Who's your favorite artist?

11:27 A little bit interesting on the American music.

11:29 You know what?

11:30 It's like uh what is it?

11:32 Gordon.

11:34 Golden.

11:33 Yeah.

11:34 For the

11:36 K-pop Demon Hunter, right?

11:37 Right.

11:37 Oh, that's a good song.

11:38 That is a good song.

11:39 Maybe they're winning.

11:40 Golden might be winning tonight.

11:42 I think that

11:45 Yes.

11:44 All of Figuroa Street in downtown LA was blocked off just for this event.

11:48 And in order to turn onto that street, you need to show your access placard.

11:52 There are multiple checkpoints along the way.

11:54 So, you're not getting past anybody unless you have it.

11:56 And in order to keep driving,

11:57 security would have to open every single door of your car.

12:00 They're checking inside the cars.

12:02 Make sure you get the

12:03 bomb squad.

12:05 Yeah.

12:05 Wow.

12:05 Thank you.

12:06 This is a really nice experience.

12:09 Wow.

12:09 They have dogs.

12:14 Thank you, mom.

12:18 I'm so sorry.

12:19 That's insane.

12:21 Cuz I mean, when you really think about it, like I mean,

12:25 the world's biggest stars are here.

12:27 You guys just had this done.

12:28 We're all windows down.

12:30 Yeah.

12:30 Yeah.

12:30 Yes.

12:32 Hey, I just did that.

12:33 My bad.

12:33 I'm sorry.

12:34 I'm so sorry.

12:35 If you want to do it again.

12:35 Hey.

12:36 No, not really.

12:37 I really don't.

12:37 Go ahead.

12:38 Thank you.

12:39 You had to weave through barriers.

12:41 Yeah.

12:42 To make sure that no one could just drive straight through.

12:44 You got to come with us now.

12:49 Next one over.

12:50 Next.

12:50 And finally, we arrived at the carpet entrance.

12:53 Thank you.

12:54 Enjoy.

12:54 Thank you so much.

12:55 Thank you so much.

12:56 Appreciate it.

12:58 My god.

13:08 We're ready to go to the premiier ceremony.

13:10 But before that, more security.

13:12 Who actually stopped us from coming through because of our bag.

13:15 What?

13:15 Of course, it's too big.

13:16 They let you bring that in.

13:17 Oh, it is.

13:18 It was too big.

13:18 So, we had to go to a different security checkpoint.

13:20 They didn't let us bring this in.

13:22 So, we have to go get the bag x-rayed

13:25 and then we can bring it bag tag for the bag.

13:27 So, anyone with a large bag had to come here.

13:30 Sort of like airport TSA.

13:31 So, so high security.

13:33 It's finally time for everything to start.

13:34 But before we get to the red carpet and who

13:36 I saw and what happens on the main stage,

13:38 there's something called the premiere ceremony

13:41 together every single day

13:42 which happens at around noon where the recording academy gives out the 80

13:45 plus awards for the categories that aren't part of the main telecast.

13:48 It was open seating and a more relaxed vibe.

13:51 Sar is going to win a lot of stuff.

13:53 Going to win a lot.

13:54 A lot of stuff's hype, right?

13:55 A lot of it's hype.

13:57 Flawless.

13:58 Like maybe a hint of rose.

13:59 It's rose.

14:00 Grammy goes to sinners.

14:08 Golden from the driver.

14:14 Oh my god.

14:15 Big shout out to our Uber driver.

14:16 You won, brother.

14:17 But here's something I didn't think about.

14:18 The Grammy goes to Anxiety by Doing.

14:22 A lot of celebrities had their name

14:24 called but weren't there to accept their rewards.

14:26 They're probably busy in hair and makeup as it's the beginning of the day.

14:29 Some celebrities did actually show up early like Keelani for Folded Duran

14:34 Bernard who we saw earlier this week at the Grammy House venue.

14:38 Happy Black History Month for the rest of my life and Shabuzzi.

14:42 So, it was pretty cool to see.

14:43 For all children of immigrants to everyone willing to work for it.

14:47 Thank you for bringing your culture,

14:48 your music, your stories, and your traditions here.

14:51 You give America color.

14:52 I love y'all so much.

14:54 Thank you.

14:54 We also got to see artists perform.

14:56 This heavy metal one lowkey scared me.

15:00 Please welcome Zara.

15:08 Absolutely ethereal.

15:09 We were vibing.

15:11 But stand up girl.

15:12 It's time to go to the red carpet.

15:18 I just entered the media area.

15:19 So this is where everybody gets their photos.

15:22 It's all photo ops.

15:23 Wow,

15:25 how freaking cool.

15:36 We got there a little bit before all the celebrities

15:38 started filing in, so it was nice and quiet,

15:41 not too hectic, so you could actually take pictures.

15:44 One of the first celebrities I saw was Coco Jones, who arrived on the carpet.

15:48 This is also when the different news networks were starting their live streams.

15:51 And it's actually how some of you guys spotted me on TV,

15:55 which I kind of forgot that they live stream this.

15:57 PTSD from the acting days.

15:59 We're taking photos, being nerds, seeing celebrities.

16:02 This is crazy.

16:03 I also had to get a thumbnail for the YouTube video.

16:05 Yes, we decided to get a move on before too many celebrities got there.

16:09 All the stars are like coming down, but I also feel like it'd be so chaotic.

16:12 Like people yelling, all the like press over here.

16:15 That'd be crazy.

16:18 Sabrina Carpenter just casually walks by.

16:20 Crew holding her train.

16:22 She's about to go take photos.

16:25 Wow.

16:30 That's Law Roach.

16:33 That's That's roach.

16:34 That's law roach.

16:37 We're on our way to the live.com Arena.

16:42 Passion.

16:42 Indy's passion.

16:44 Indies where literally our life is so blessed.

16:47 I know.

16:50 Like thank you.

16:51 Thank you Jesus.

16:52 This is like wow.

16:54 But also people always say they're like you're so lucky.

16:58 Krie Washington said you have to pray but then

17:00 you have to try and catch the bus.

17:01 You can't just pray and then hope the bus comes to you.

17:04 You have to run and you have to fight.

17:06 Yes.

17:06 Speak it out and then act on it.

17:09 And then act on it.

17:09 That's the most important part and people forget about this.

17:11 Yeah.

17:16 Oh my gosh.

17:20 Boots, boots, boots.

17:21 We got inside the Crypto.com arena, which was very crammed.

17:26 It was a journey to find our seats.

17:28 We went up some escalators and got to see some

17:30 Star Wagons outside where they house some of the celebrities.

17:32 And we eventually found our way to our assigned seats.

17:36 Wow.

17:39 stage is right there.

17:40 It was all starting to sink in.

17:42 Oh my god.

17:44 Wow.

17:45 Tonight, I'll be witnessing music history,

17:47 something that most people will never experience in their lifetime.

17:49 I'm so deeply grateful for this moment.

17:52 Please take your seats.

17:56 Okay, everybody, get on your feet, please.

17:58 Let's go.

17:58 This opening number is fantastic.

18:00 Relax.

18:12 And then music up, the lights strobe.

18:14 Bruno Mars and Ros open the show with a performance of Apat.

18:17 I found it really interesting how

18:19 the performance centers around the camera work.

18:21 You can see these girls in the corner dancing to sort

18:24 of appear like a crowd in front of the camera.

18:26 My friends, Tyler, the creator, host Malone, Forel, THE ONLY M LAUREN HILL.

18:34 WHAT?

18:35 He said that this is the best concert that money can't buy.

18:41 Man, we got the legendary Jamie Fox, Grammy winner,

18:45 Oscar winner, Bezos's wedding, but with way way more black people.

18:49 You know what I mean?

18:50 We got we got Tyler THE CREATOR.

18:51 OH, LOOK AT THIS album of the year.

18:53 Good luck with that.

18:55 Who else do we have?

18:56 We got Farel.

18:56 Are you kidding me right now?

18:57 Look at this.

18:58 For real.

18:58 Look at this man.

18:59 Louis Vuitton.

19:00 Which reminds me, do you have discount codes?

19:02 Is that like a thing?

19:03 Next up was Sabrina Carpenters's performance of Manchild.

19:06 This is now my second time seeing her in concert.

19:08 And how cool is it to see them transition between

19:10 set pieces when the performance ends and they're on commercial break.

19:13 When one side of the stage is down, they're preparing another set piece.

19:17 During these minute long transitions,

19:19 the celebrities will also get up and mingle with each other.

19:22 It's so interesting seeing who talks to who, where everybody's sitting.

19:26 It's so cool.

19:27 They even project a timer up on the screen and they'll

19:30 usher everybody back to their seats when it's down to the clock.

19:33 So, they'll be like 15 seconds back to your seat.

19:35 It was also interesting to watch the presenters because right off stage there's

19:40 a teleprompter in case they need to find their place in their speech.

19:44 Latifa and I feel great.

19:46 You and if you win, there's obviously no teleprompter.

19:51 They're just giving their own speech.

19:53 We got to see cats perform.

19:55 Their outfits were so cute.

19:57 This part wasn't in front on the main stage.

20:00 It was kind of backstage live,

20:02 but then they went out to the main stage and we got to see them.

20:04 Leon Thomas was down on the floor.

20:07 That's a score.

20:08 That's a score.

20:08 That's a score.

20:09 We're just going to go barefaced.

20:12 Yeah.

20:11 It just made me think about the amount of coordination it takes

20:14 to put on a show like this because while he's performing over here,

20:17 they're going backstage changing the set pieces so Olivia Dean can come

20:21 out on the right side of the stage and make her performance.

20:24 Meanwhile, on the left side of the stage,

20:26 they have another act that they've already been preparing for.

20:29 Like, it's really interesting.

20:31 Including album of the year for his latest swag.

20:34 Please show some love for Justin Bieber.

20:41 Truly one big concert with the biggest artists in the entire world.

20:44 A singular experience.

20:47 And the Grammy goes to Lady Gaga.

20:52 Lady Gaga won best pop vocal album.

20:54 Charlie XCX came out.

20:56 Fangirling right now.

21:01 This moment is actually not about me.

21:03 I can only imagine how much planning goes into this.

21:07 Yeah, and like can we just get a moment for bad money?

21:13 And the concept of Tyler the Creator live the house

21:16 down looking like one of the bosses from Elden Ring.

21:18 That was wild.

21:19 Justin Pea that he is a performer.

21:29 All of these people are such artists in the truest sense.

21:32 They really give everything to their work.

21:34 And here's another behind-the-scenes moment of when they

21:36 were taking down the Tyler the Creator performance,

21:38 getting rid of the car, moving bushes,

21:40 and there was even an explosion, so they had to sweep that up.

21:44 Again, think about the coordination,

21:45 all the set pieces that are on the other half of the stadium.

21:48 how they file things in and out, what's off stage.

21:52 I would love to see that.

21:53 It would be so cool.

21:54 They're setting things up when people are on stage speaking.

21:57 And if you do what you love every day, you'll get paid for free.

22:02 So, thank you so much.

22:03 Thank you guys for having us.

22:05 Congratulations.

22:06 The D'Angelo tribute was amazing.

22:09 It felt like Sunday service.

22:11 You could just feel it in the room.

22:12 Everybody was up singing.

22:21 brought my sister to tears.

22:23 Mary Styles came out to announce the last award of the night

22:26 to present the award for album of the year and the Grammy Ghost Sabrina

22:38 Bad Bunny so welld deserved.

22:54 He gave such a beautiful and important speech.

22:57 I feel like he was the one who needed to win right now.

23:01 We left the stage and got to see some stars

23:03 along the way before heading out to the afterp parties.

23:07 By this point in the night, our feet were hurting.

23:09 I was starting to feel the effects of barely

23:11 getting any sleep and my phone was starting to die.

23:13 So, by the time we got into the afterparty, my phone died.

23:17 I have a few clips from my sister's camera roll.

23:20 We didn't stay for too long because her phone was

23:22 about to die and we needed to call an Uber.

23:24 I just want to thank my sister again for this amazing experience.

23:27 This is a product of her hard work and I'm

23:29 so grateful that she chose to share it with me.

23:31 I'm literally crying doing this voice over, but thank you Melissa.

23:34 I'll remember this for the rest of my life.

23:37 Thank you for watching.

23:38 I can't believe this is how 2026 is starting.

23:41 There's still so much more to come and I hope you stay along for the ride.

23:44 Bye guys.
