He Walked in Minecraft for 14 YEARS

0:32 The Far Lands are 12.5 million blocks from spawn and is

0:36 where the Minecraft terrain generation breaks

0:39 down and creates crazy amazing landscapes.

0:41 2011, Mojang basically said that there's no way in normal gameplay

0:46 that a Minecraft player would be able to see the Far Lands.

0:49 I really enjoy exploration and I took them up on that offer and started walking.

0:54 I am ready to set off, unless I die.

0:59 I was quite naive.

1:00 It's probably going to be like a year

1:02 from now and about 300 YouTube videos later.

1:04 At the beginning, I thought maybe a couple months or at the most a couple years.

1:08 I wanted to set off on an adventure and try to reach these Far Lands.

2:44 players who surpassed me in reaching the Far Lands.

2:48 Hearing about that was disheartening.

2:51 It really started to make me question how much further I wanted to go.

3:11 I never wanted to use any cheats or mods or teleports.

3:15 I'm walking without any mods or cheats to the Far Lands.

3:33 Primarily, we were raising money for charity as a walkathon,

3:36 which was very important.

3:37 I think eventually the community did end up finding that the slow

3:42 and steady way to the Far Lands was more interesting.

3:52 Even though the Far Lands or Bust journey is a single-player game,

3:55 the community really felt like a second player.

4:09 And everyone became very invested in Wolfie making it to the Far Lands as well.

4:16 managed to keep the wolf alive than himself.

4:29 As the years went on, it became a very

4:31 nostalgic series on YouTube for people to watch.

4:34 A lot of things have changed since I started playing Minecraft,

4:36 but this is one of those things that hasn't.

4:42 This is the 10-year anniversary.

4:53 the math down to a science and let me know

4:57 a couple weeks beforehand that I would be reaching

4:59 the Far Lands with this amount of time left.

5:03 It took me by surprise.

5:05 I think the community has rallied around sort of this impossible

5:08 journey and feeling that it's starting to come to its destination.

5:13 And it was also very heartwarming when people would come back from the series,

5:16 they would say they watched when they were in middle school or high

5:19 school and now they're grown up and have kids and a job.

5:22 That always brought it home about how long the journey took,

5:25 but also what it meant.

5:27 Everyone in our Discord server was like, "Oh my God, it's happening,

5:30 it's happening!" I thought of having a first step on the moon sort of speech,

5:34 but honestly, the community kind of calmed me down and basically

5:38 convinced me that it just had to be very calm, very personal.

5:41 So that really brought me down to earth.

5:44 A very big ocean.

6:14 okay so that was the moment that we first saw the Far Lands.

6:19 Um, I was speechless, honestly.

6:22 We may not be the first people to have reached the Far Lands, but in my book,

6:28 we are absolutely the first to have brought along such an amazing community,

6:32 a generous community, and I very much appreciate all of you being here.

6:37 The biggest feeling that I felt was a little bit of almost sadness

6:42 that the journey part had ended because that's what I enjoyed so much.

6:48 I'm most proud of the money we've raised for charity.

6:51 In the end, over $530,000 for various charities.

6:55 That always blew me away, how generous people were.

7:09 And meet everybody behind the game that I've

7:11 loved for the last 14 and a half years, walking to the Far Lands.

7:18 making a lot of good friends, making a career out of it.

7:21 My life wouldn't have been the same without this experience.

7:25 This achievement belongs to the community as much as it belongs to me.
