Did Blizzard Invite Streamers to Test Classic Plus?!

0:00 So, apparently, there's this Wowhead article that went out earlier today,

0:04 and I think this is worth looking at because it's kind of it's very speculative,

0:09 So, did Blizzard invite streamers to test Classic Plus last week?

0:14 Last week, while Classic content creator Zaryu announced

0:18 that he would be visiting Blizzard headquarters in Irvine, California.

0:20 While Zaryu was unable to say why he was invited to visit,

0:23 many in the community began to speculate that this could

0:26 be related to the mysterious next chapter for Wow,

0:28 known by the community as Classic Plus.

0:31 Wow, okay.

0:32 So, hold on, what did he what did he say?

0:33 I did just get approval to say that I will be gone a little bit next week,

0:40 bad news, because I am visiting Blizzard next week.

0:46 What?

0:46 Good news.

0:47 For something that I cannot say, but I will be there.

0:54 And I just got permission to say that.

0:56 I can't say what it's for, but I will be visiting Blizzard.

1:03 I mean, but this could mean this could mean like a million things.

1:08 As the week continued on, other prominent Wow Classic content creators

1:11 began to show up at Blizzard campus in Southern California as well,

1:14 including Esfand, Guzu, Savix, and Sodapoppin.

1:18 Who are these guys?

1:19 Had a great time at Blizzard campus.

1:20 Okay.

1:22 Uh while none of the streamers have disclosed

1:24 the reason for their visit to Blizzard campus,

1:25 all these content creators have heavy involvement

1:27 in the Classic community and have spoken

1:28 about what they would like to see in a future version of Wow Classic.

1:30 But what exactly is Classic Plus?

1:32 Well, there's much debate over what the future game could be.

1:35 Esfand recently summarized his Classic Plus wish list.

1:38 While opinions vary, many in the community believe that Classic Plus

1:41 should be an extension of the vanilla Wow

1:42 world where characters do not progress beyond level

1:45 60 and maybe the Dark Portal never even opens.

1:47 Many cite the Burning Crusade pre-patch as a great starting point

1:51 with access to new spells and talents that help balance the specializations.

1:54 Yeah, I I like I think this is actually pretty much exactly how I feel.

2:02 I mean, this is something that I've been saying for a long time.

2:34 What many players do agree on, I mean, I would agree with this, yeah.

2:43 There's so many other pieces of content

2:45 that could exist within the vanilla setting,

2:47 including Gilneas, Uldum, Mount Hyjal, Grim Batol,

2:49 Dalaran, Twilight Highlands, Timeless Isle, Karazhan.

2:52 The list goes on.

2:53 The amount of content that could exist in a vanilla setting is staggering.

2:57 That's why many content creators and members

2:58 of the community believe that a future

3:00 version of classic set in the original world of Azeroth is on the way.

3:06 Could Blizzard be planning to reveal this new

3:08 forever classic game mode at BlizzCon later this year?

7:20 I don't think they should do any new classes, no.

7:21 I think as far as new races go, I think high elves and ogres.

7:35 What the I worry classic plus will never land up in the same

7:37 spot as retail if they have the same monetary focus as retail.

7:41 I think that, but also like the game needs soul, man.

8:04 I think the people that truly understand what WoW is at its core in classic.

8:18 what WoW classic really is and what what World of Warcraft right?

8:22 And I emphasis on World of Warcraft really is.

8:27 From a gameplay perspective.

8:28 I mean, obviously Chris Metzen is Chris Met- Chris Metzen lore, all that stuff,

8:32 but I'm talking about what it is from like a the game design perspective.

8:36 It's a handful of people that really get it.

8:38 Jeff Kaplan, Tom Chilton, Rob Pardo, Allen Adham, and Kevin Jordan.

8:45 I would say that handful of people who really really really get it.

8:51 If you didn't say Kevin Jordan, I was going to riot.

8:52 Yeah.

8:53 And don't don't get me wrong, right?

8:54 I have a lot of respect for a lot of these other people.

8:56 Like I Like for example,

8:57 I've I've I've talked to a lot of these people and like people that are

9:00 cur- But I'm so- I'm talking about

9:01 the core of classic WoW when it first started.

9:04 That's why whenever I've had the chan- Like I I I

9:06 I've never talked to Allen Adham or Tom Chilton or Rob Pardo,

9:09 but I've gotten to talk extensively with a lot of these people.

9:12 Like Like Jeff Kaplan is dude,

9:14 talking to somebody like a Jeff Kaplan or Kevin Jordan is is such a joy.

9:19 Like it's like you you feel like when you're talking to them,

9:22 you can't help but turn into a sponge because everything they say when

9:27 they're talking about game design or when

9:30 they're talking about WoW or other games, like it's it's gold.

9:33 You have to listen and you have to you

9:34 you really have to like everything these guys are saying,

9:37 like you have to learn from it.

9:38 I feel so lucky to get to talk to some of these guys.

9:41 Now, with that being said, there's some people that are Actually,

9:45 I'm not even going to say this one because nobody's

9:48 going to nobody's going to believe me or agree with me,

9:49 so there's no point in saying it.

9:54 There is one person out there that I'm I'm like and I

10:00 think this happens to a lot of people where like Okay.

10:09 he like repeats back to me some of the things

10:10 that I say and I like I very strongly believe about

10:14 wow and the design of classic wow and all these things.

10:18 I was going to say there's one guy I'm

10:19 not going to say I've got a chance to talk

10:21 to and I was like it's almost like it's funny because

10:25 he said a lot of the things that I agree with.

10:27 Even like like kind of some like crazy takes

10:29 that I don't really hear a lot of people talking about.

10:31 He's like repeated these things to me and I'm like, "Huh?" Wait.

10:37 And it like is a kind of surprising,

10:38 but maybe someday maybe someday I'll tell you.

10:41 Classic reverse, we start at level one in Eastern

10:43 Plaguelands to level 16 in the original starting zones.

10:45 You know what would be another really interesting thing to talk about?

10:54 Well, when do the events of World of Warcraft happen?

11:03 So, you have the first war, the second war, and the third war.

11:07 Then World of Warcraft Oh.

11:08 Okay, World of Warcraft happens in year 617 by the King's calendar.

11:14 So, World of Warcraft happens 5 years after Warcraft 3 in the timeline.

11:19 What if it was 1 year?

11:21 Well, I guess 1 year after is the Battle of Mount Hyjal.

11:25 1 year after that is the Frozen Throne.

11:28 What Warcraft was it that Stormwind got destroyed?

11:31 Was it Warcraft 1?

11:32 Dude, imagine if they made classic plus ruins of Stormwind.

11:38 Stormwind is gone and you have the ruins of Stormwind.

11:42 And classic plus was actually classic minus and they went back in time.

11:48 Holy, that would be crazy.

11:53 And the instead of having Stormwind and Varian

11:59 Wrynn Anduin Wrynn King Arthas Menethil of Lordaeron.

13:01 that's why like there's not like a huge degree of creativity.

13:03 It's just what version of that like the turtle wow kind of kind of blueprint,

13:08 you know, oh, open up Hyjal, oldum,

13:10 caverns of time, this, that, whatever, right?

13:12 It's it's things that are in there.

13:13 Everybody obviously wants that and I think it's it's

13:16 a less about the what and more about the how.

13:18 How are they going to implement these things within the game in a way that fits,

13:23 that it feels like classic and in a way that is just good.

13:29 Is it good?

13:30 At the end of the day.

13:31 Is it classic?

13:32 Is it good?

13:33 And are people going to like it?

13:35 We'll see.

13:44 wow and all this stuff and way before classic actually came out.

13:55 So, it's kind of cool to see where we are now like 8 9 years later.
