0:10 Now, this video it details about the recent test that was conducted.
0:14 A hypersonic test was conducted in the Indian
0:18 Ocean region and ultimately before this a NOTAM,
0:22 that is notice to airmen was issued for more than 3,500
0:27 km or 3,500 km of the area in Bay of Bengal.
0:31 So, there was speculation that a hypersonic or Agni 6 missile
0:36 could be test conduct the test could be conducted in these days.
0:40 And ultimately over here there was a mystery test that was conducted.
0:43 Still so far DRDO has not confirmed that which missile had been,
0:48 you know, tested when it comes to the recent test that had been concluded.
0:51 But at the same time a defense spokesperson,
0:54 he have said and he also have not dwelled
0:56 into whether it is the Agni 6 that was tested.
1:00 But at the same time he has said that it may be the the upgradation
1:04 of the Agni 6 or the Agni 6 that was conducted in Bay of Bengal region.
1:09 So, ultimately in early May 2026 we have conducted or DRDO
1:14 have conducted significant flight test from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island.
1:19 And when it comes to the speculated range it is that when
1:23 it comes to the Agni 6 it will have the range
1:26 that will be more than 10,000 of the kilometers and ultimately
1:30 that will mark our entry into the true ICBM club that is there.

1:38 the technology to produce the intercontinental
1:41 ballistic missile and after India will,
1:44 you know, launch the ICBM or there will be a formal, you know,
1:48 announcement that we have successfully conducted the test launch of the Agni 6.

1:58 the capability to strike any of the nation on the globe that is there.
2:02 Also, when it comes to the high speculation,
2:04 there is high speculation that MIRV,
2:07 that is multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicles,
2:11 they are the the Agni 6,
2:14 it is capable of MIRV technique or the technology as well.
2:18 When it comes to the statements from the defense leadership,
2:20 they indicate a transition that we are seeing
2:23 from a regional deterrence to the global strategic reach as well.
2:27 And that is why this test is quite important.
2:31 Now, when it comes to the Agni series of the missiles,
2:34 so these missiles or the complete series had
2:36 been developed as a part of integrated guided
2:39 missile development program that was or that laid
2:43 the foundation and this program was spearheaded by Dr.
2:47 APJ Abdul Kalam himself.
2:49 Now, we have different classes of the missile.
2:50 We have Agni 1 and 2 which have ranges from 700
2:55 to 2,000 and they are the short-range and the medium-range ballistic missiles.
3:00 Now, they have a proper strategic role
3:02 of being the regional and the tactical deterrent.
3:05 When it comes to the Agni III and Agni IV,
3:08 they have the strategic range of 3,500 to 4,000 of the kilometer and they are
3:13 the intermediate range ballistic missile and they
3:17 are very important for deep strike regional deterrent.
3:20 Then we have Agni V which have a range of 5,000
3:24 to 5,500 and this is the regional ICBM that you can say.
3:29 All right.
3:30 So, ultimately this is again very important missile that we have in our arsenal
3:35 and this is a regional ICBM and it counters the China strategic reach as well.
3:40 Then Agni VI that is the mystery missile that had been test fired,
3:44 it may have the range of more than 10,000.
3:47 That is the range could reach anywhere between 8,000
3:50 to 12,000 and it will be a full ICBM
3:53 that will have a global reach and ultimately it
3:56 is or it will be MIRV capable as well.
3:59 So, these are the complete arsenal of the Agni missile.

4:10 Now, when it comes to MIRV technique, so what it is?
4:13 So, ultimately when this technology is there,
4:16 so it is a kind of force multiplier
4:18 because there is multiple independent targetable re-entry vehicles
4:23 which allows that only one missile it delivers
4:26 several of the warheads to the different targets.
4:29 All right?
4:30 It can also include the penetration aids to confuse the enemy
4:33 ballistic missile defense system and also it increases the probability of kill,
4:38 that is PK, and ensures that deterrence is
4:42 even against the advanced missile shields which are there.
4:46 It requires highly advanced nuclear warhead design and even complex
4:49 separation mechanisms that should be there for the MIRV technique.
4:54 So, there is MIRV technique that is
4:56 the multi independent targetable re-entry vehicle.
4:59 They deliver nearly about 10 to 12 of the warheads
5:03 from a single missile to distinct targets simultaneously.

5:07 Also, there it is it has asymmetric advantage whereby it
5:11 overwhelms and exhaust the adversary missile defense shields as well.
5:15 There is another technology and that is MARV.
5:19 Now, when what is MARV?
5:21 Basically, it is maneuverable re-entry vehicle.
5:24 So, MIRV is where we have multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicle,
5:28 but MARV is where the re-entry vehicle it can maneuver itself.
5:34 All right?
5:34 So, over here the terminal phase trajectory
5:36 it shifts utilizing the radar absorbent coatings
5:40 to confuse the interceptors and this renders
5:42 the advanced defense systems which are there,
5:45 like US THAAD and the Russian S-500, they are rendered less effective.
5:51 And there is also the canisterization and the payload as well.
5:55 Where this the these missile, they are basically stored in a movable
6:00 canisters and these canisters are hermetically
6:03 sealed solid fuel mobile launch vehicles which are there and it houses a massive
6:08 3-ton payload that is double that of the Agni V and ensures that there
6:13 is rapid deployment capability when it comes to launching of Agni VI as well.
6:19 Now, Agni VI is basically a hypersonic frontier
6:22 where it comes to the traditional ballistic parts,
6:25 the test may have involved this hypersonic glide vehicle as well.
6:30 Because this is important for the Agni VI.
6:33 Hypersonic glide vehicle is basically where the speed
6:36 it operates at the Mach V or even higher.
6:40 [clears throat] All right?
6:40 It is unlike the ballistic missiles, the HGVs or the hypersonic glide vehicles,
6:45 they can change the course in the flight itself.
6:48 And also, they travel at the lower altitudes making it nearly invisible
6:53 to the defense radar system or the traditional
6:56 early warning radars which are there.
6:59 Also, they require the advanced scramjet engines and the heat
7:02 resistant materials because they are flying at a very hypersonic speed
7:07 and that is why it is very very important that they have
7:09 the complete coating that protects the missile and the warhead as well.
7:14 Now, why India needs a global reach or why
7:17 India is moving ahead towards the Agni VI?
7:20 So, when it comes to the speculation of the Agni VI,
7:22 so recently DRDO chief he have said that India is ready with Agni VI and we
7:27 will be able to test as the government will give the you know, go on.
7:32 Or government will give the green signal.
7:35 Also, the BJP have said that India had
7:38 developed the capability of Agni VI as well.
7:41 Now, this will when we will have the global reach
7:43 or the ICBM that will give the credible deterrence to India and ultimately
7:48 we will be able to counter the adversaries with the massive conventional
7:51 as well as the nuclear superiority by ensuring the second strike capability.
7:56 Also, it is a very important geopolitical weight because when it comes we
8:01 will enter the elite club and ultimately when it we enter the elite club,
8:05 so this will enhance our claim towards the permanent seat at the United Nations
8:10 Security Council and this also provides
8:12 a strategic autonomy to India where there is
8:15 reduced dependence on the external security umbrellas and we are be or we will
8:20 be able to protect interest across the entire
8:23 Indo-Pacific region and even beyond as well.
8:27 Now, what could be the international response and impact of this test?
8:31 When it comes to the regional dynamics, we will see that the China,
8:34 it is likely to view this as a threat to their strategic depth
8:38 that is there and they may accelerate
8:40 their ballistic missile development program as well.
8:43 When it comes to Pakistan,
8:44 they could trigger or this could trigger a renewed arms race in the South
8:48 Asia and this will move from the credible to full spectrum deterrence as well.
8:53 When it comes to Indo-Pacific region,
8:55 so it will solidify India as or India's role
8:58 as a net security provider in the complete Indo-Pacific region.
9:03 When it comes to the global order,
9:05 so we are we have not signed the NPT or the MTCR, so India's behavior,
9:11 it will be seen as a responsible nuclear state and we are
9:15 non-proliferator despite being a non-signatory
9:18 to the NPT or the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.
9:22 Also, when it comes to US and India partnership,
9:25 so this will test the limits of the technology transfer as well as the strategic
9:28 trust that is between India and US or within the ISET framework as well.
9:36 Now, when it comes to ethics, so again, this is important for your GS paper
9:40 four as well because the India's nuclear weapons,
9:43 they are for deterrence only that we have already said or we
9:47 we have the complete doctrine of the no first use that we follow.
9:52 So, ultimately, it is for the deterrence only
9:54 and India follows a policy of no first use.
9:56 So, the nuclear weapons, they will be used only in retaliation against
10:00 a nuclear attack on the Indian territory or the forces.
10:04 This is a credible minimum deterrence that we have and we are maintaining
10:07 the smallest possible force that is there
10:10 which is required to deter the adversary.
10:13 And also, when it comes to the civilian control,
10:15 there is proper civilian control through the nuclear
10:17 command authority that we have in India and that is how we are or that is
10:22 how this complete test it has the complete implication.
10:25 So, it is the second test that India has conducted in the recent.
10:29 There is Tara glide system that had been conducted successfully conducted
10:34 and then this is a next test that we have conducted in India
10:38 and this will have a far-reaching impact when it comes
10:41 to the geopolitical as well as the strategical and the defense you know,
10:46 implications that are concerned.
10:49 So, this is a path ahead and the key challenges as well that is there is we
10:53 have to master the precision guidance for the MIRVs
10:56 and the heat shields for the hypersonic reentry.
11:00 We also have to balance the defense spending with the social
11:02 welfare and infrastructure needs which are important for a developing country.
11:08 And also, when it comes to the dependency on the real-time satellite data
11:11 for target acquisition and mid-course corrections,
11:14 so there has to be intelligence and space which had to be integrated.
11:18 So, this is the complete progress that we have seen recently.
11:22 When it comes to solid fuel propulsion, we have 95% of the capability.
11:27 At the same time, when it comes to the MIRV integration,
11:30 so the progress is at about 70% and even hypersonic glide tech,
11:36 now we have you know, we have at least 45% of the capability when it
11:41 comes to the HGV or hypersonic glide vehicle as well.
11:46 Now, these are the strategic you know,
11:48 vision or the way forward that we can have.
11:51 The first one is to strengthen the triad.
11:53 All right, we have to close the gap between the sea-based deterrence through
11:56 the faster integration of the SLBMs or the submarines through which you know,
12:02 submarine-based we we have the ballistic missiles and even the submarines
12:08 which are there which are capable of launching the ballistic missiles.
12:12 Also, we have to move towards the indigenization
12:14 where we have to reduce the dependence
12:16 on the foreign components that is sensors and the chips
12:20 through the Atmanirbhar Bharat or Atmanirbhar defense projects.
12:25 As well as there have to be a diplomatic engagement where we
12:28 have to ensure the global powers that ultimately the India's growth is
12:32 a stabilizing rather than any kind of disruptive in the global order
12:37 and when it comes to the space as well as the defense,
12:41 so there had to be greater integration with the ISRO
12:43 with a dual-use technologies in surveillance and communication as well.
12:47 So, the latest strategic test which India has conducted
12:51 whether it is of Tara or the latest you know,
12:54 the satellite the the missile test that had been conducted.
12:57 So, these tests are not just technical
12:59 milestones that we have achieved in India.
13:02 But they are basically a statement of sovereign intent for a civilization state,
13:07 the deterrence is the precursor to the peace.
