Pensando Inglés

0:11 Hello.

0:12 Are you ready to learn some real-life English with comprehensible input?

0:17 Well, good.

0:18 Because today is Valentine's Day.

0:21 So, today we're going to talk about Valentine's Day,

0:24 about love, about relationships, and I'm going to cook my wife a delicious

0:30 Valentine's Day dinner while you guys improve your English.

0:35 Let's go.

0:38 All right, guys.

0:39 It is your English-speaking friend Kyle.

0:42 Today, we're talking about Valentine's Day.

0:45 I will tell you guys how this holiday started, how we celebrate it today,

0:51 and my wife and I will tell you guys what we've learned about love,

0:56 marriage, relationships,

0:58 because that is really what Valentine's Day is all about.

1:03 But, where did this all start?

1:06 Well, it all started long, long time ago in ancient Rome.

1:12 In ancient Rome, in the month of February,

1:15 they had a festival called Lupercalia.

1:18 Now, it was not about love.

1:20 It was about celebrating the start of spring, about fertility, and new life.

1:27 What fertility means is the ability to give life.

1:31 Like, younger women, you know,

1:33 in their 20s are more fertile than a woman in her 40s.

1:37 It's the giving of life, okay?

1:39 So, that's what this festival was about,

1:41 and they did not celebrate it with cards and chocolates and flowers.

1:46 They celebrated it with some crazy things like sacrifice.

1:51 So, it was not romantic at all.

1:54 Later, this changed with a man named Valentine.

2:00 So, the emperor of Rome made a law

2:03 that said that his soldiers could not get married, okay?

2:07 He wanted soldiers that only thought about war, not about love.

2:13 But, this man Valentine, who would later be called Saint Valentine,

2:17 he married these soldiers in secret so that they

2:20 could have a life with their loved ones.

2:22 But, Saint Valentine was killed for it once

2:27 the emperor found out that he was performing illegal marriages.

2:32 And they say that he was killed around February 14th, today,

2:37 which is why we celebrate Valentine's Day or Saint Valentine's Day on this day.

2:42 So, the Catholic Church named him a saint, and what a saint is is somebody who

2:48 the Catholic Church says lived a very holy life, a very godly person.

2:53 They named him a saint,

2:54 and they started to make this day very special because they

2:58 wanted to get away get away from the pagan rituals, okay?

3:04 Of Lupercalia.

3:05 Now, the word pagan is a good word,

3:08 and the word pagan means someone who worships many gods, okay?

3:13 Before Christianity took over all these parts,

3:16 the people believed in a god of the sun,

3:18 a god of the wind, a god of the moon, many different gods, okay?

3:22 So, the Catholic Church was trying to push

3:26 all those old traditions aside and say, "No, we celebrate on this day because

3:31 Saint Valentine fought and died for love." So,

3:36 after that, people started to embrace this idea of a romantic

3:41 holiday based on love instead of the old pagan traditions.

3:46 Poets started writing poems about love.

3:49 People started giving each other love letters on this day,

3:53 and these love letters later became what we know as Valentine's, okay?

3:59 You give somebody a Valentine's Day card,

4:02 and that little piece of paper that says, "Hey, you are cute.

4:05 Hey, you drive me crazy." Whatever they say.

4:08 They make a bunch of cool ones, funny ones, romantic ones.

4:12 We call those Valentine's.

4:14 You give them to the person you like.

4:16 You give them to your crush, and you say,

4:18 "Hey, will you be my Valentine?" Which means,

4:21 "Will you be my special person on this day?" So,

4:24 people started to give these Valentine's,

4:26 these little love letters, on Valentine's Day.

4:29 But, in the 1800s, it got even bigger because of the Industrial Revolution,

4:36 which is when people started making factories

4:39 that could make tons of these little cards, okay?

4:42 It became easier and easier to get them.

4:44 You could easily buy them, write a little note, and give it to somebody.

4:49 So, it got more and more popular.

4:51 In the 1900s, companies started selling

4:55 chocolates made just for Valentine's Day.

4:58 They started saying you should give your Valentine flowers or gifts.

5:02 So, really, guys, it became a business, okay?

5:06 It started to become a huge business.

5:08 Today, in the United States, Valentine's Day is huge, guys.

5:14 A huge business.

5:15 Every store you walk into, you will see they have their candy right there.

5:21 All the colors are pink and red for Valentine's Day,

5:24 and everybody's buying flowers to give their wife because

5:28 if you don't give your wife something on Valentine's Day,

5:31 you'll be in trouble.

5:32 That's why later I'm going to cook my wife a good dinner,

5:34 so I don't get in trouble.

5:35 So, guys, what this holiday means is love,

5:41 appreciating that special person in your life,

5:44 showing them that you care, and that you think about them,

5:47 but honestly, it has become kind of like Halloween,

5:52 a huge business and a day where companies make tons of money here in the US.

5:58 So, that is where this day came from.

6:02 Now that we know that, you guys got a little history lesson,

6:05 my wife and I want to talk to you

6:07 guys so about some things that we've been thinking about.

6:11 About love, about marriage,

6:13 because my wife and I have known each other now for almost 5 years,

6:17 we've been together for over 4 years, we've been married for over 2 years,

6:22 and we've learned a lot about relationships in that time.

6:28 So, we're going to share what we have learned and maybe

6:30 it will help you with that special someone in your life.

6:34 Okay, guys, got my lovely wife here.

6:37 She's cold, so she's using a blanket.

6:41 It's cold here.

6:43 So, baby, thank you for being my wife and my Valentine.

6:47 Aw.

6:48 I love you very much.

6:49 You're very welcome.

6:52 We're going to talk today about things that we've learned in our marriage.

6:57 I said earlier, we've been married for over 2 years,

6:59 we've known each other for almost 5.

7:01 Wow, yes.

7:04 And I think we've done really good, a great job of growing together.

7:09 You guys see the good stuff.

7:10 We have problems, sometimes we argue, we don't fight, [laughter]

7:15 but sometimes we get mad at each other.

7:17 Yeah, we don't agree in everything.

7:19 I mean, in some point, we agree, but not at the beginning, right?

7:25 But our power, our strength as a relationship, in my opinion,

7:29 is how we handle it when we do get upset with each other or when we disagree.

7:34 We always come back to each other and find a way to stick together,

7:39 because one thing that always stuck with me was we spoke

7:43 to the pastor of her church when we after a year of marriage maybe.

7:48 Six months of

7:49 Six months of marriage.

7:51 And he said something in Spanish which I'll

7:53 say in Spanish and then translate for you guys,

7:55 but he said it's más importante tener comunión que tener razón.

8:01 Which means guys, it's more important to be together

8:06 to be in agreement than it is to be right.

8:10 Okay, tener razón is oh I was right.

8:12 I was right.

8:13 No, I was.

8:14 You weren't.

8:15 And it is hard sometimes to say okay, to think I'm right,

8:20 but I'm going to let him or let her, right?

8:23 To win at some point so we can be good.

8:27 Yes.

8:28 Right?

8:28 It's not easy.

8:29 You have to put your pride aside.

8:31 There's no room in a marriage for pride or ego, guys,

8:36 because you have to compromise,

8:39 which is what we're going to talk about the first thing.

8:43 Um it's not about just you anymore.

8:46 Yes.

8:47 It's that.

8:48 And compromising means you both have to give a little bit, okay?

8:53 I I have to let you have your way a little bit.

8:55 You have to let me have my way a little bit.

8:59 Right.

8:58 To where we both are not winning, but we're both not losing.

9:03 That's what compromise means.

9:05 But let me tell you a secret.

9:07 That would be like a business compromise.

9:09 Nobody wins, nobody loses, everybody does okay.

9:12 A marriage compromise the relationship wins.

9:17 Mhm.

9:17 Cuz you we're a team now.

9:19 Each person gives up a little bit, but as a whole the the family wins.

9:25 So you can't think about it like oh if I let my wife have her way, I'm losing.

9:30 Right.

9:30 Or if she does what I say in this situation, she's losing and I'm controlling.

9:36 No.

9:37 We together are going forward so the family wins.

9:40 Maybe I feel like I lost in the situation, but no, the family won.

9:47 That's right.

9:48 So, let me give you guys an example of something we had to learn the hard way.

9:53 Um I'll tell a little story.

9:55 And it's happened twice actually.

9:58 And we finally learned from this mistake that's happened twice.

10:01 On my birthday, guys.

10:03 Oh, yeah.

10:03 It just happened that my last two birthdays have been after I worked.

10:09 Okay?

10:10 So, guys, imagine this.

10:11 I got up at 4:30 in the morning, went to work for 12 hours,

10:15 and then I come home and my wife, trying her best, guys,

10:21 to celebrate and make me feel special on my birthday,

10:25 but she was not thinking about this guy's been working

10:29 for 12 hours and he's been awake for 15 hours.

10:32 He slept for maybe 6 hours last night.

10:36 So, talk about a little bit on more what you were thinking in that situation.

10:41 So, I think I was more like doing what I like.

10:45 You know, if even if I'm working, like, let's say 20 hours,

10:49 I'll be so happy, like, so grateful, like, oh,

10:54 my husband want to do this nice, cute cake and dinner or decoration for me,

11:00 and he wants to give me a gift.

11:02 If he didn't do that, is that right?

11:05 He didn't do that?

11:06 You'd be mad.

11:07 I'll be mad.

11:08 Like, I work 20 hours, 12 hours, 10 hours, and I come home,

11:13 I'm tired, and I have nothing for my birthday, you know?

11:17 I'll be so mad, guys.

11:19 But, my husband is so different,

11:22 and I didn't like I know him, but not in that way.

11:26 Like, I didn't know that was something that he didn't want

11:30 to have because I thought he he would love it, you know?

11:34 So let me say something, guys.

11:36 I do appreciate the work that she put in and the gifts

11:39 that she gave me and the things that she made.

11:42 But she told me, "Go take a shower.

11:46 You have to wait before you eat your dinner."

11:49 No, you ate your dinner.

11:50 Hold on.

11:50 Hold on.

11:52 You have to wait, and then I have to take photos and this and this and this.

11:56 And guys, I was tired.

11:58 I just want to eat my food and relax.

12:01 I want to say something.

12:02 We're going to get on a get in a fight on camera, guys.

12:05 You don't You wait.

12:07 It was my birthday.

12:09 So guys, my thinking is And listen, I was not right to get upset about this.

12:14 I'm not saying I was right and she was wrong.

12:17 That was wrong and I've apologized to her already.

12:20 But I'm thinking it's my birthday, why don't I get what I want?

12:26 Why don't I get to just eat my dinner,

12:28 not worry about pictures, and then go relax?

12:31 She's thinking, "I did all this for you.

12:34 Why can't you smile, take the pictures,

12:37 and be happy?" But moving on to our next point, I want to say communication.

12:43 Okay?

12:44 And everybody says communication.

12:46 But I'm not talking about just talking, "How was your day?" You know,

12:51 talking about what you like and don't like.

12:54 I mean communication The hard work I did.

12:56 even when you hurt each other's feelings.

12:59 Yeah.

12:59 Even when she feels like my husband doesn't care about all the hard work I did.

13:04 Even when I feel like my wife's trying to make

13:06 me do something I don't want to do on my birthday.

13:10 That is when communication is the most important,

13:12 and that's what I'm super proud of us about.

13:15 Because, guys, when we get in an argument and one

13:18 of us gets mad and runs away and goes in the room,

13:22 what does the other one always do?

13:24 Go.

13:25 We wait a few minutes.

13:27 [laughter] [gasps] Maybe 20 minutes, maybe 30 minutes.

13:30 Depending what happened, right?

13:31 But then what happens then?

13:32 Because sometimes, like we wait depending of what on what happened.

13:37 Because sometimes, let's say I say something that make him upset

13:41 and I feel like he's right and I shouldn't say that.

13:45 I feel like he needs also time, you know?

13:48 I don't want to go there and oh, I'm sorry.

13:51 Like I know he needs time.

13:53 So, that's also from my point of view.

13:56 I don't know how you feel with that, but Um so, why do you say I'm sorry?

14:01 We always go to the other one.

14:05 Yeah.

14:04 And that's hard.

14:06 Mhm.

14:07 And that means putting aside your pride and your ego because like I said,

14:11 pride does not have a place in a marriage.

14:14 And you admit that you were wrong.

14:17 Mhm.

14:17 Guys, many times I've went to my wife and said, "I'm sorry.

14:24 Mhm.

14:24 That wasn't right.

14:24 I shouldn't have said that." And she's done it to me, too.

14:28 And guys, when I tell people at work that my wife can admit that she's wrong,

14:33 [snorts] they're like, "Where did you find that one?" No way.

14:37 [laughter] I mean, but that's how everybody should be.

14:38 That's how it should be, but very few relationships are like that.

14:43 Wow.

14:44 But the problem with that is, guys, so many people married the wrong person.

14:51 I want to say something very important there.

14:54 So, I I always pick like how you guys think or you or another person,

14:59 but I feel like the husband is the head and those things.

15:05 And I'm not saying this because you are here or something at work,

15:08 but I feel like I learned that from you.

15:13 Like he taught me how to apologize,

15:18 how to admit that, you know, I'm wrong and I'm sorry.

15:23 So, because Kaia is start doing it with me,

15:27 I think that's when I I I thought like, wait, he can't do it always, you know?

15:34 And he's not wrong always, sometimes it's me, so I need to do the same.

15:38 So, guys, I lead my family, but I don't lead by commanding.

15:43 I lead by example.

15:45 Mhm.

15:45 I will never ever ask my wife or my son

15:48 or my daughter to do something that I wouldn't do.

15:53 Yeah.

15:53 I can't tell Connor to eat healthy food if I'm eating a pizza.

15:57 I can't tell my wife, you have to apologize if I can't apologize.

16:02 I can't tell my son, exercise is important or learning is important

16:06 if I'm unhealthy and not learning anything myself.

16:11 So, saying sorry, fixing things when you have a problem is a huge part of it,

16:19 but that's only half of it.

16:20 The other half is forgiving them when they do apologize.

16:23 Mhm.

16:23 Yeah, because one thing is saying [laughter] I'm sorry,

16:26 but if the other person is like, mhm, sure.

16:29 So, guys, marriage is just a long, constant forgiveness.

16:35 Yeah.

16:36 Because you're going to make mistakes, like I said, all the time.

16:39 You need to learn from them, but you also have to forgive.

16:42 Mhm.

16:42 And guys, there's things that happened years ago that we still joke about,

16:48 and you did that, I can't believe you did that.

16:52 Uh but in our hearts,

16:55 we've forgiven each other for everything that's ever happened.

16:58 Yeah.

17:00 And that's another huge thing.

17:01 Marriages that have issues, one of the people or both are still

17:06 holding on to something that happened years ago.

17:10 And if you don't want let go of that, your marriage can never go forward.

17:14 Mhm.

17:14 And uh yeah, I've I learned that from, you know, seeing my parents.

17:21 Mhm.

17:22 Uh you, too.

17:23 Mhm.

17:24 And I don't blame my parents at all.

17:26 If my mom's watching, I love you,

17:27 and I know that you were not the one in the wrong there.

17:31 But my mom and I have also talked about forgiveness.

17:34 And let me tell you guys something incredible.

17:36 And my mom will be happy if she sees this.

17:39 But the other day my mom told me that I taught her something about forgiveness.

17:46 That's sweet.

17:46 From one of my videos.

17:48 So, guys, one of my videos touched my own mother's

17:53 heart and helped her to change something inside of herself.

17:56 So, I'm just super proud of that.

17:59 And if that if it can do that to my mom, somebody in Iraq,

18:04 somebody in Brazil, somebody in China,

18:07 and people are changing, feeling better, guys.

18:11 I know that I'm doing the right thing.

18:13 Not only with English, but helping people to live a better life.

18:17 Because if you're holding on to something Mhm.

18:19 that's not life at all.

18:21 Let it go, guys.

18:22 Let it go and move on.

18:23 And maybe we'll end this with an incredible piece

18:26 of marriage advice that I heard from an awesome person,

18:31 uh a friend of my brother's, who my wife loves, Dave.

18:35 Mhm.

18:37 Um when I first got married, I was asking people for their best marriage advice.

18:42 He's been married for a long time.

18:44 Whenever you see him, him and his wife are having fun, smiling, happy.

18:48 She takes good care of him.

18:50 He takes great care of his family.

18:52 That's who you need to ask marriage advice, people in a successful marriage.

18:57 He told me never uh sleep on the couch.

19:03 [laughter] And you hear that all the time, guys.

19:04 At work, the guys will be like, "Oh,

19:05 me and my old lady, we were fighting last night.

19:08 I slept on the couch." And I just think, "All right, well,

19:13 that's not the kind of marriage I want." No matter what,

19:17 we will sleep in that bed, even if we're not feeling good.

19:20 But, the honest truth, guys, [snorts] we never fall asleep upset.

19:25 The other one will roll around and [laughter] We've been angry at each other,

19:33 and then I try and turn away to to be a baby and pout about it,

19:38 and what does my wife do?

19:39 She will then what do you do?

19:43 [laughter] But, guys, let me say something.

19:44 That happened just in the beginning of our marriage.

19:47 Right now, we never go to bed mad or feeling bad after saying I'm sorry.

19:54 Um and also, we That's something that I learned because he told me,

19:59 "Don't do that." And then I read it somewhere.

20:04 Uh don't talk about it like bad things that will make you sad,

20:10 you or your partner, before bed.

20:14 Is the Is Is the worst thing.

20:17 Is the worst thing.

20:18 So, we don't do it anymore, and we don't go to bed feeling bad.

20:23 So, the best My best marriage advice right now is Let me just say,

20:32 I can't remember the last time we were mad

20:33 at each other for more than a few minutes.

20:36 I can't remember.

20:37 No.

20:38 And we've been really upset for a few minutes, and then we fix it.

20:43 Guys, when there's a problem, bam!

20:46 Go get it.

20:49 [laughter] Don't punch your wife.

20:51 Punch the problem.

20:52 Go right to it, guys.

20:54 Don't wait till later.

20:55 Stop what you're doing and try your best to fix that problem.

20:59 Compromise, apologize, forgive.

21:03 All right, guys.

21:04 Camera Wife's dinner is starting to come together and why I'm

21:09 cooking something special is because that's a big part of Valentine's Day.

21:16 Honestly guys, a lot of it is just for companies

21:19 to make money selling chocolates and candy and flowers and junk.

21:24 But the nice part of it is that the tradition

21:27 is to go and have a date with your loved one.

21:32 Take them somewhere nice.

21:34 You guys get dressed up and look good and go out on a date.

21:41 Which is very important for married couples especially because you know,

21:46 you've got kids, you've got jobs.

21:48 A lot of times you don't make that time to take that person

21:54 out and treat them like they're special to you because sometimes it feels like,

22:00 "Hey, I've been with this girl or guy for 10 years.

22:04 Why are we going to go out on a date?"

22:06 Still important to make time for these kinds of things guys.

22:09 And my wife and I are not going out for two reasons.

22:15 We feel kind of sick, number one, and two,

22:18 next week when it's actually Valentine's Day

22:22 you guys are seeing this on Valentine's Day,

22:23 but I got a little secret for you.

22:25 It's not Valentine's Day.

22:27 You are watching and listening to Kyle from the past.

22:32 You guys didn't know I was a time traveler.

22:34 So anyway, when you guys see this it'll be Valentine's

22:37 Day and we will be traveling in a different state.

22:42 So we wanted to film this and celebrate our Valentine's

22:45 Day date while we have the time to do it.

22:48 So I'm making her something that she asked me for, something delicious.

22:52 Not quite traditional, so if you are in Spain don't beat me up in the comments.

22:56 Don't tell me, "Kyle, oh I want to fight you.

22:59 That is not a paella Valenciana, tío." So I'm making a paella.

23:04 But, this is the kind of paellas that you see in restaurants here, guys.

23:08 Not the traditional one that I made in the paella video,

23:12 which was incredible and one of my favorite dishes I ever made.

23:16 But, all that tomato was not great for Camera Wife's stomach.

23:19 She has real bad acidity sometimes.

23:22 So, this is going to be a more simple, smooth version of a paella.

23:27 And this will be closer to what our Spanish friends might call paella mixta.

23:31 Mixta, because we have chicken and we're also going to have some seafood.

23:36 So, I'll show you guys a little bit more as this dish goes on.

23:40 This is not a cooking video.

23:42 Just wanted to share a little bit of this while I

23:45 make the special dinner for my beautiful wife who's holding the camera.

23:50 Hi, cute one.

23:51 All right, guys.

23:53 These are artichoke hearts and I bought the jar.

23:57 Guys, if you watched the paella Valenciana video,

24:00 you saw how hard it is to cut those artichokes and get this little piece out.

24:07 So, this time I bought them and they're all ready.

24:11 They're in some oil and seasoning.

24:15 My wife told me when she saw this jar,

24:17 and it was really interesting to think about.

24:19 Imagine how many of those big artichokes somebody had to cut up to get these.

24:25 Because if you guys remember that video, you'll remember how much work it takes

24:31 just to get these tiny little ingredients.

24:33 So, whoever cut these up, I appreciate you.

24:38 So, we're going to have some artichokes, some onions.

24:41 Got some green beans in there.

24:43 And then we're going to have some secret seafood ingredients,

24:46 one of which is one of my favorite seafoods.

24:49 So, I'll show you guys that in a little bit.

24:50 Okay, guys, our paella is looking great.

24:52 Now, the last part is to add the seafood.

24:55 And here we have a special seafood.

24:58 This, what is this called, wife?

24:59 Pulpo.

25:00 In Spanish it's called pulpo.

25:02 And this is actually a product of Spain, I saw on the package, that's cool.

25:06 In English we call it octopus.

25:08 So we've got some octopus.

25:10 It's already cooked.

25:11 All we have to do basically is heat it up on the paella.

25:15 And then this is something called crawfish,

25:18 which is similar to lobster or shrimp.

25:22 So it'll be a lot of protein and I think it's going to be delicious.

25:26 So let's slice up our octopus.

25:31 Nice little bites.

25:35 And octopus, guys, tell me in the comments if you've ever had octopus.

25:39 I'm very interested.

25:41 It has a unique flavor, uh but what I like about it is the texture.

25:46 It's got a nice chewy texture and I just really love it.

25:50 So tell me, do they eat octopus where you live?

25:53 I'm very interested to know.

25:55 And now, honestly, I have no idea if

25:58 in Spain anybody would use octopus and crawfish because

26:05 I know crawfish is something that people in the south

26:08 of the United States eat a lot of.

26:11 Uh there's one state in particular, Louisiana, that is very famous for crawfish.

26:18 But I don't know if people eat it many other people eat it around the world.

26:22 I've only ever heard of people in the US eating it.

26:26 Like I said, down south in Louisiana.

26:28 So like I said, like I always say, this isn't grandma or grandpa's paella.

26:35 This is Kyle's.

26:36 And the lovely camera wife.

26:39 All right, guys.

26:39 So I'm just going to put this seafood on and basically

26:42 it's just going to warm up until the rice is soft.

26:46 And we will be ready for our Valentine's Day date.

26:50 All right, guys.

26:51 Let's see my wife's Valentine's Day dinner.

26:55 What?

26:56 Paella with chicken and seafood.

27:00 And guys, seafood is something we say about

27:02 any type of product that comes from the ocean.

27:05 It could be fish, it could be lobster, it can be crabs,

27:09 it could be any creature from the sea or the ocean is called seafood.

27:17 So, what do you think, baby?

27:18 I think it's incredible.

27:20 Look good?

27:21 All right, let's try it out.

27:26 That's what you want, guys.

27:29 Spaniards will tell you that's called socarrat.

27:32 Socarrat.

27:33 Am I saying that right, guys?

27:35 Socarrat.

27:36 But it means the little burnt part on the bottom.

27:38 All right, guys.

27:39 Valentine's Day dinner for my lovely wife who takes good care of me.

27:43 So, baby, try it and tell me what you think.

27:52 What's good about it?

27:54 Everything about the flavor and the the octopus super soft.

27:59 Oh, it's okay.

28:01 So, guys, you could smell um the saffron in the rice.

28:06 All right, guys.

28:07 This is my favorite part of the octopus.

28:09 The part with the little That's called a tentacle, guys.

28:13 And I like this part.

28:14 And it has so much flavor.

28:16 It tastes really good on the rice.

28:21 Wow.

28:21 And then, oh, I want to try these artichokes.

28:25 So much better to just buy the artichokes already done, guys.

28:29 Cuz artichokes can cut you and get all over the place.

28:33 It's a huge pain to do it.

28:34 They're sharp.

28:35 It has a good flavor.

28:36 Okay, guys.

28:38 This is delicious.

28:39 Uh Spanish friends, if anybody's watching from Spain, tell me what you think.

28:44 Is this an okay paella or are you mad at me?

28:48 Would you try Kylo's paella?

28:49 All right, guys.

28:50 I will see you at dessert cuz there's something left after we eat.

28:56 The paella was not all for this meal.

28:58 Since we ate a Spanish dish, I made a Spanish dessert.

29:02 Oh, what is that?

29:03 Spanish dessert?

29:05 Let me show you guys what I made earlier.

29:08 This is what they know on Instagram and stuff as a burnt cheesecake,

29:13 but the Spaniards would know it as a What would you say?

29:15 Basque or Basque cake.

29:18 de queso y de higo.

29:21 [laughter] But, guys, I am a cheesecake fanatic.

29:25 Love cheesecake, and this is one of the best kinds we've tried.

29:29 And this is your favorite kind, too, right?

29:31 my favorite.

29:31 So, if you guys have not tried this kind of cheesecake,

29:35 but you like cheesecake, you've got to give it a shot.

29:38 And when I say give it a shot, guys,

29:40 giving something a shot just means to try it out, to give it a shot.

29:45 All right, guys.

29:45 Let's try our dessert, Valentine's Day dessert.

29:53 It's always good.

29:55 So, guys, you cook it at a high heat, and it kind of burns.

29:58 But, what that does is caramelize the sugar

30:01 and gives it almost a a sweet coffee taste, right?

30:05 Kind of tastes like coffee a little bit.

30:08 Just a great dessert, guys.

30:10 And we're not like surprised because we've

30:14 I've made this three or four times now.

30:16 But, the first time you try this, guys, it's such a new experience for desserts.

30:22 So, Yeah, guys, let me tell you one last thing before we wrap up about cooking.

30:28 Don't cook like I do if you want to be impressed when you go to restaurants.

30:34 All the things that we cook, guys, No.

30:36 if you get my cookbook in the future when it comes out,

30:40 and you start cooking all these dishes,

30:42 next time you go to a restaurant that you thought was great,

30:45 you're going to be like, "Yeah, it's good." Because it is not as good as this.

30:50 It is not as good as plov or dolma or the butter chicken or rendang.

30:57 All right, guys.

30:58 Happy Valentine's Day.

31:00 I hope you're spending it with the people you care about.

31:02 We will see you in the next video.
