0:48 It was shortly uh after he passed away and I'm a massive Van Halen fan.

0:53 I think it was my boys that were like,

0:54 "We should name him Eddie Van Halen for you,

0:56 Dad." I was like, "Thanks, guys." He also becomes Big Ed, Ed Warren.

1:04 Uh I just if I'm bored.

2:05 How deep does this go?

2:07 Childhood were family with the dogs?

2:09 Yeah, yeah.

2:09 What's the history?

2:10 Always a dog family.

2:11 My mother liked to name dogs based on their heritage.

2:16 We had Gretchen, [music] Maychen, and Heidi at one point.

2:19 Sound of Music, basically.

2:20 we did.

2:21 We did.

2:21 We then later had an Australian cattle dog named Matilda, for Waltzing Matilda.

2:27 So, important to you as the family grew,

2:30 kids, to have not one, but multiple dogs.

2:32 You have three dogs now, I believe.

2:34 We have three.

2:34 When we moved out to the suburbs, we got a house, wanted a dog,

2:38 and we had a great rescue in Alma, who was a lab mix, and then Alma passed away.

2:44 We got another dog, Louise, our second rescue.

2:46 We have three rescues.

2:48 Go rescue.

2:48 She's the sweetest dog.

2:50 I would have brought her, but the stairs would be a lot for you.

2:52 You know, she's 11 and it's like it's it's a lot,

2:55 but she's she's healthy and fine.

2:57 And then Mabel is our other rescue, who basically

3:00 Eddie is the therapy dog for Mabel.

3:02 Mabel's got some anxiety issues.

3:03 Everybody's got their function in the family.

3:05 They care of each other.

3:06 They're this great trio, my pack of of dogs,

3:10 and we love them, and when we go on road trips,

3:13 we shove them all in the car and take off,

3:15 and our house is covered in dog hair and Harder to raise kids or dogs?

3:20 [laughter] You're going to a place.

3:24 The kids grow up and listen and learn.

3:26 He's like constantly a puppy.

3:27 But that's also the greatest the greatest joy.

3:30 What were the first days like with with Eddie?

3:32 Did Eddie immediately make himself at home?

3:34 Were there training issues?

3:35 Was No, he was pretty good.

3:37 I mean, he does kind of feed off the other dogs,

3:39 so the other dogs are bit are real protective dogs.

3:43 I know you got it.

3:43 That's what happens.

3:44 You literally ate it.

3:45 There's no squeaker.

5:19 so partnered with the ASPCA, and I've doing a whole series of of commercials

5:23 and campaigns for them cuz I Yeah, I've had three rescues and really know how

5:28 much joy dog can bring lots of people.

5:32 And they're good at ripping up [snorts] I got a challenge for you.

5:35 I don't know how this is going to go, but we're going to give it a shot.

8:26 Every time I come home for a walk, Dad's like,

8:28 "What dogs did you meet?" I'm like I mean, it was like a Labradoodle.

8:32 "I didn't ask the name." But if I knew the name So,

8:35 what he What it would be Yeah,

8:36 he'd have a little speaker that he would wear almost like an AirTag.

8:39 When you walk past a dog, it was like a sensor that would be like, "Hello,

8:43 I'm Eddie." And you could do like, you know,

8:45 like an English bulldog that I don't know.

8:47 I'm Clyde.

8:48 You know, like [laughter] getting like an Australian cattle dog.

8:50 "G'day, mate.

8:51 I'm Sydney." You could really tailor.

8:53 You could get actors to you know,

8:55 give I just want to give people some voiceover work.

8:57 Let's call it like "Hello, doggy." G'day, mate.
