Classical Musician Reacts: AKMU '개화 (FLOWERING)' Album!

ReacttotheK

0:00 To my fellow Acme music fans, hello.

0:04 It has been too long.

0:06 I don't even know what to say going

0:07 into this other than I've missed Acme incredibly.

0:11 I am aware that Chen Huk had been releasing a lot

0:14 of solo stuff since they last released Hero, right, as a duo.

0:18 Um, but while I did check out his stuff,

0:20 his stuff hasn't been necessarily my cup of tea.

0:22 But I am curious if like will Acne have a sound shift change since

0:29 they aren't under YG anymore and so

0:31 they aren't working with the same producers, right?

0:34 And they aren't working with the same ANRS like um ANR's job usually is

0:40 to help the artists choose like which

0:43 producers or songwriters they want to work with.

0:45 Sometimes they help brainstorm the genre they want to go for.

0:48 If I remember correctly, under YG, they would write music a lot with one

0:53 of their keyboardists or something like that.

0:55 And so now, um, if we're starting with Spring Colors,

0:59 this one and Einh, the name doesn't immediately come to mind.

1:05 So I'm like, will this be a change in style?

1:08 We're skipping Paradise of Rumors because my initial reaction

1:11 was caught with ENL and Cla's reaction to the song.

1:15 So that's there.

1:16 To summarize my thoughts on Paradise of Rumors,

1:19 it seems a little bit more country leaning or folk leaning.

1:23 I'm not very familiar with Korean folk music,

1:26 so I don't know how much of it

1:27 is like western folk influence versus Korean folk influence,

1:32 but that was a song that they sort of relied a lot on a singular loop,

1:37 and it never really seemed to shift and grow.

1:41 While I did enjoy the instrumentation throughout,

1:43 I kind of wish that it had harmonies added

1:46 to it because it was solo suan the entire time.

1:49 Um, vocal harmonies added to it or even

1:51 more instrumentation added throughout like they did in Hero.

1:53 That's why I like Hero so much.

1:55 Um, but we'll see what Spring Colors is up to.

1:59 I really hope to see them live in Korea.

2:01 I'm visiting Korea this summer.

2:02 Ah, okay.

2:03 Three, two, one.

2:04 Spring colors.

2:09 Okay.

2:11 Very beautiful guitar sound.

2:17 Okay, we've got the twangy.

2:20 To me, that's like the western twangy guitar sound,

2:25 which I'm not the biggest fan of personally.

2:27 But already we're getting more chords than Paradise of Rumors.

2:31 I need to look at the lyrics.

2:36 Cute little lick.

2:41 They had a little lowered.

2:45 So, so far it's like a verse verse.

2:52 New chords.

2:55 Yeah, we got some champion.

3:06 And now the guitar is an octave up.

3:10 I think they might have added in.

3:14 What did they add in?

3:23 I love the acoustic guitar sound.

3:24 I like how it's developing so far.

3:26 I really can't stand guitar.

3:34 And now, okay, I think we added a second acoustic guitar because now we're

3:37 hearing a guitar on our right and a left and they're playing different things.

3:41 I really love this verse.

3:44 Gentle harmony added in the vocals.

3:54 And now they add an electric guitar which fills up.

3:57 Okay, so we have three different guitars happening at once plus the bass.

4:12 doesn't resolve until until the start of the next phrase.

4:36 Did they add in another bass?

4:41 The instrumentation shifted a tiny bit.

4:43 It grew a little bit more.

4:44 Or maybe they just boosted the bass.

4:57 Da da da da.

4:59 Love da da again.

5:14 Wow.

5:15 I love the acoustic guitar sound.

5:17 It isn't.

5:17 I don't know how to explain it, but one of the songs,

5:21 if you didn't know already, that I am obsessed with.

5:24 The guitar sound of Time and Fallen Leaves

5:27 is so different from the guitar sound here.

5:30 And I don't know enough about guitar to know exactly

5:34 if is it the difference between steel string and nylon

5:36 string or like just the resonance of the guitar or is

5:39 it all about the way that they recorded the guitar?

5:42 But I love how the acoustic guitar sounds in both.

5:45 Even though they're completely different here, it's very dry.

5:48 I feel like you can hear the fingertip on the string.

5:52 Um the the various picking,

5:53 but just like the the creativity of the little licks that they had.

5:56 It wasn't just always strum strum strum, right?

6:02 They had a variation of the strum strum strum and the little clicky.

6:08 So that was definitely my favorite element of the song,

6:11 my favorite sound of the song.

6:12 I feel like this is a very smooth

6:13 transition from Paradise of Rumors because we have the

6:20 If you love it, I wish I was you.

6:22 I think it's stylistically there to tie it to Paradise

6:25 of Rumors and because it feels like more folksy,

6:29 more country, more nature, more outside, more adventure.

6:32 And now one of my favorite things with Acme Lyrics, they are the main artists.

6:36 them and eja are the reason why I want

6:38 to learn Korean other than how it would be

6:41 helpful with the job that I want to do

6:42 the rest of my life if these lyrics are correct.

6:45 Pastel tone crayons.

6:46 I wasn't necessarily getting pastel tone crayons.

6:49 I was just getting fl like wheat field flowers.

6:52 Uh but spring inside a friend sketchbook is the color pink.

6:55 Like they're always so visually poetic

6:58 with their oh specifically balsam flowers.

7:02 Oo.

7:03 Oh, gorgeous, stunning, dainty.

7:08 Tucking flowers into my friend's hair.

7:09 The sound of birds whistling all around the neighborhood.

7:12 When spring, spring, spring, and everything is born a new 10 out of 10 lyrics.

7:16 Let's move on to paid with bugs.

7:19 Adorable.

7:20 Love that title.

7:21 Okay, Ginghub again and Chenhook.

7:23 Three, two, one.

7:26 This sound of a car.

7:43 Do we have some harmonica in here?

7:46 So they are going for the country vibe.

7:56 Something about that melody is an interesting harmonic shift.

8:03 I like when Chenha comes in.

8:05 So do vocal harmonies.

8:12 No.

8:12 Okay.

8:15 Oh, I need to go back to double check the harmonies,

8:20 but it sounded like they were going to modulate

8:22 and I think we went back down, but I'm confused enough to not know for sure.

8:34 It's like they're hanging out on a dominant or something.

8:39 So, we have an unresolved feeling.

8:44 Yeah.

8:46 Even though we have the twangy guitar,

8:51 it's dancing around more, so it bugs me less.

8:58 And it's a lower register, which is nice.

9:15 That's so cute.

9:23 That's adorable.

9:28 It's so playful.

9:30 The fact that the syllable she used like imitated the the guitar and

9:38 the fast trade back and forth between siblings.

9:41 I like I like this section.

9:49 But this is tonic, right?

9:51 Which is why that's weird.

9:56 Yeah, we are in the same key as before.

9:58 So was it even?

10:00 a dominant that we were good chords in this one.

10:11 Chords that are satisfying, but that confuse me.

10:15 That sounds like a accordion or the smaller version of it.

10:20 Vandonian.

10:21 Vandal.

10:32 tempo change.

10:35 A little I have a feeling if I look up the lyrics,

10:50 I'm going to be crying at this part.

10:55 Stunning little symbol roll.

11:00 Oh, favorite song on the album so far.

11:03 Okay.

11:03 What this song had that I love in Acme sound?

11:07 Vocal harmonies.

11:08 They could have done more, but they were there.

11:10 Fast trading back and forth between brother and sister.

11:14 Suhan going da da.

11:16 I can't really fully embody her, but it happened towards the end.

11:20 But like no one can do it like her.

11:22 like she can.

11:23 Great instrumentation.

11:24 I thought they used the twangy.

11:26 It might even be a different guitar and I

11:28 just might be stereotyping the twangy guitar sound into one.

11:32 Oh, and oh oh tempo the the retardondo like um what

11:36 they did in every little thing like it feels like a musical

11:38 journey because there was like a tempo change and in this case

11:43 they just took everything out and it was like full robboto.

11:46 So it just felt very expressive.

11:51 paid with two bugs and got on the bus.

11:54 It was a very wonderful dinner.

11:55 Even if I spend all the money I hardearned here, it won't be a waste.

11:59 Where shall we go tomorrow?

12:00 My heart I just like uh the like slice of life vibes that their lyrics give.

12:05 My heart was full of anticipation.

12:07 Shall I take a nap today?

12:08 It's like a diary entry or like what you text someone

12:11 because I will have to walk for a long time again.

12:15 They paid with 12 bucks.

12:16 Are we talking about inflation?

12:18 Got on the train.

12:19 Oh.

12:20 Oh.

12:20 Bus versus train that hesitates and lingers.

12:22 Time is short and there is so much to enjoy.

12:26 I knew I would cry.

12:27 I agree.

12:28 I mean, I could just show this song to people

12:30 with perfect pitch who can analyze the chords much faster.

12:33 So, I think I'm going to do that instead of you seeing me struggle through it.

12:37 Dude, it's been six years, seven years since I took music theory.

12:45 Your girl remembers nothing.

12:47 I'm so sorry.

12:47 But paid with bugs.

12:50 Fantastic timing at the end.

12:53 Love.

13:00 This is halftime that I'm clapping.

13:04 Yeah.

13:04 No, it's definitely a tempo change.

13:09 Any song with da?

13:16 That's a hard interval to sing.

13:18 Da da da da da.

13:22 Is that it?

13:26 Let's move on to the what I believe is the title track.

13:30 Three, two, one.

13:32 It's Joy, sorrow, beautiful heart.

13:40 Microphone sounds very far away from the piano.

13:54 And her vocals have a lot of reverb on them.

13:59 So the

14:03 Yes.

14:03 live stream.

14:09 And now the harmony is moving faster, I think.

14:13 Is it?

14:27 There are so many reasons to love.

14:44 Oh my god, it was almost the pocket bell sequence.

14:46 It was almost the Well, retardando.

14:56 New chords.

14:56 New chords.

14:57 New chords.

15:18 I like this chord progression a lot.

15:20 It has makes you think it's like the lamenting pocket ball chords,

15:26 but then it brightens up.

15:30 And they let acoustic instruments breathe.

15:41 Let's pan back and forth with the pits.

15:43 So the instrumentation arrangement develops.

16:05 I think it was contrary motion in the vocal arrangement.

16:12 You expect to go here which is same chord progression

16:15 as winter album title track that cut so bright so beautiful.

16:26 I know she guitar in unison makes it more dramatic.

17:04 Did we change keys somewhere?

17:07 We have another time.

17:21 Is that supposed to be a reference to Naka?

17:27 Yeah, we're changing keys.

17:29 Something's happening with the keys.

17:35 That's not the end.

17:38 About 4 minutes long.

17:51 Someone practicing drills.

17:55 Is this the end of Earth?

17:57 Is this what?

17:59 Ah.

18:19 Were there hints that the world was ending the entire

18:21 time or did it come as like a last minute?

18:24 I guess you maybe you could see the hints throughout like

18:26 the messy room like not caring if the world's going to end,

18:28 not caring what things look like,

18:30 just enjoying the area around you, the nature before.

18:36 Okay, the first thing that I want to go back and check

18:39 is if they snuck in a key change somewhere when I

18:43 wasn't paying attention or if it's just towards the end they have

18:46 a couple chords that step outside the key center after humming along.

18:50 I believe this song is in D flat

18:53 major except there's a couple moments with mixture

18:57 like there when it comes to the instrumental

19:06 breaks which I always extremely appreciated this one

19:10 was a bit hit hit so it was very heavy and they're like smiling there definitely

19:17 could be a meaning behind this but I

19:19 sort of prefer heard the strings doing the cello.

19:23 A lower line might have been doing that.

19:28 Nope.

19:31 They're just there was like a But I wish

19:36 there was more movement in this even though Yeah.

19:39 Yeah.

19:39 Yeah.

19:39 I think they could have still had like a little retardo and then start again.

19:46 Yeah.

19:46 Hanging on the leading tone going to here.

19:50 Stone.

19:52 I like the string piticado arrangement when it moves to the string plucks.

20:03 We might have added a shaker or a tambourine here.

20:09 And the unison there is very dramatic.

20:14 We're still in D flat major.

20:23 That's up a half step.

20:25 Oh, it actually tonicizes in B flat.

20:28 Just a lot of chords that aren't tonic cuz this is dominant one.

20:41 A very quiet reserved.

20:43 Jesus Christ, that's so insane that like they're like,

20:46 "Let's end on the most soft sounding arriving at home note

20:51 and have the world blow up at the same exact time." Dynamics.

20:55 Dynamics done well.

20:56 Okay, sunshine.

20:57 Bless you.

20:59 This is Einhan again.

21:05 Ah, it's be I don't know how to describe what kind of guitar sound that is.

21:16 How many guitars were used in the making of this album?

21:19 Yes.

21:35 Have I heard this somewhere before?

21:44 It's very quirky intervals they're choosing.

22:03 Uh, I'm not sure what the term is, but it's just like they're taking the rhythm.

22:08 Oh, different this time, but it was like twice as slow.

22:13 I've heard this before.

22:17 Was this released on a previous EP?

22:23 Bless you.

22:25 Miss Bless you.

22:33 Oh, the reason why I heard it is because they

22:35 performed it live and I watched the Suhan fan cam.

22:43 Whoopsies.

22:47 Okay.

22:48 I really like that upward chromatic.

22:52 for the first 10 seconds.

22:55 Then it kept happening.

22:57 Oh, and I was back.

23:04 It's like an alarm going off.

23:14 The little castinet is cute.

23:17 You got some cowbell.

23:20 Lots of symbol.

23:23 I think I'm enjoying the percussion arrangement the most so far of this song.

23:34 Right.

23:34 They had a flutess on this.

23:40 I want to see the warm so bad.

23:46 Cute.

23:47 Adorable.

23:50 Hand drums.

23:59 I wish the cowbell was less so we could hear more of just

24:10 we're hearing a lot of tone of the actual note of the ham drums.

24:14 But I want to hear more of the the slap.

24:20 Little improv time.

24:24 Bringing back in the melody.

24:37 And we're back to the symbol.

24:38 So it fills out the frequencies.

24:52 A cute little ending.

24:55 Adorable.

24:55 Sorry, guys.

24:56 I did cheat and I've just the second

24:58 something acne related pops up on my timeline.

25:01 I've been watching it.

25:04 So, I heard that already.

25:05 But let's talk about not you again.

25:11 Why that melody is so quirky is tonic.

25:18 B major how how do you create that sound on guitar?

25:28 Is it just like a certain plug-in patch thing?

25:30 I don't know.

25:33 What did I say?

25:34 I said this was in B.

25:37 So why that guitar line itself is so weird

25:39 is because it's climbing up one flat 2 two.

25:42 It's just like has nowhere to go.

25:46 It's like you start on a journey and then you run into a brick wall.

25:50 Oh, but then D.

25:55 It goes up to four.

25:56 1 2 3 4.

25:58 And four is still a predominant.

26:00 So it still kind of has nowhere to go.

26:03 It's kind of cool because it's sometimes like da and it's

26:06 sometimes da da da da and sometimes da da da.

26:09 So it it has variation.

26:13 So five sharp four which is the ah it's the trionee how she floats up there.

26:22 Quirky fun.

26:23 I'm definitely dancing.

26:24 I'm definitely grooving during this live.

26:26 Love that they gave some time for improv

26:28 and the instrumentation that they featured was nice.

26:31 Just the duh got on my nerves.

26:33 And I feel like when it came to the vocals,

26:35 they sort of kept to a similar range,

26:39 less vocal harmony throughout, but I don't dislike paid with bug.

26:45 Still number one tent.

26:46 3 2 1 It sounds like they recorded this in a 10.

27:14 No autotune.

27:17 He's a little flat.

27:20 Which is totally fine.

27:21 It's not a criticism.

27:22 It creates the vibe.

27:28 I kind of wish the guitar was also so like had the room sound.

27:40 Piano and the guitar sounds like they had a direct

27:43 line feed into the bill like how they recorded it.

27:52 One of the pianos might be recorded in the room,

27:55 but it like was doubled with something that seemed more electronic maybe.

28:05 This is a very nursery rhyme.

28:08 Oh, hey Tug.

28:12 Little bridge section.

28:23 Or maybe they just have really close-up mics

28:25 to the piano so you don't really get that room sound.

28:37 Don't got Oh, and you can hear the tent.

29:19 I love that so much cuz I guess it's they give more indie vibes.

29:26 just the amount of taking it outside of the clean

29:30 and precise K-pop world, which I love, too.

29:33 But it's partially what differentiates them.

29:36 But this this feels like home.

29:38 Singing about a tent and like the fact that shoes

29:40 are this are so big and drunken nap snoring.

29:46 Um, I guess just talking about being in nature and relationships in nature,

29:52 friendships, just doing very, is it a word?

29:55 menial tasks gets me out of the mindset of work

30:01 and stress and all that stuff makes you want to go camping.

30:05 But I think they did summarize the feeling of being in a tent very well,

30:08 besides actually physically recording in a tent.

30:11 That's so funny.

30:13 All right.

30:14 Young and Married.

30:15 Okay, this entire EP seems to be written by Chinhap and Chenhook.

30:19 Three, two, one.

30:38 Change the song.

30:39 Oh no, it went back down.

30:47 Oh, we've got jazz organ in there.

31:12 I need to look up the lyrics for this.

31:28 Not one of my favorite chord progressions.

31:34 the it's sort of it's like a the chord

31:37 progression in this song is a path that curves,

31:40 but you can always see when it's going

31:42 to curve little that jazz organ is so quiet.

32:23 Oh, oh, I just want to get into Oo, that was some crunchy harmony there.

32:42 Why was that a jump scare?

32:46 Cuz I guess I thought they were like

32:49 simplifying the instrumentation to just voice and guitar.

32:59 Okay.

33:14 Cute.

33:16 I definitely feel like in this one the lyrics add a lot of character to the song

33:20 itself because we've got a simpler side

33:23 of instrumentation just the and like some snare

33:27 and kick and the guitar and the jazz

33:30 organ and the twangy twangy western guitar and I

33:34 guess this is the tenny hook solo track

33:36 while paradise of rumors was a suan solo track.

33:39 Not a youngest sibling but a daughter.

33:42 Oh, is he talking about the first line when we think, is he talking about Suian?

33:49 Huh?

33:53 A couple that resembles macaroni penguins.

33:56 It's very sweet.

33:57 Um, slower tempo.

34:00 I love the imagery of just this adult singing about, "Oh,

34:08 look at those cute little love birds." But it's

34:11 so cute how much you love each other.

34:12 Some some something like that.

34:14 Adorable.

34:16 Okay.

34:16 The right person.

34:21 Huh.

34:30 Bluesy.

34:32 Are we going to have resolve?

34:36 We're not going to resolve.

34:47 I just really like their playful stuff.

34:55 I'm wondering if the voices will ever come in,

35:01 but I was also okay if it doesn't.

35:04 That is a crunchy chord.

35:08 I don't know what key they're in.

35:11 I don't even know if in the vocal melody is in the same key.

35:15 Okay.

35:16 Yeah, it is.

35:18 But there are clashes.

35:22 Which means our perfect pitch people will have a field day again.

35:43 Does that mean this is tonic?

35:51 The most melodic moment.

35:52 That makes sense.

35:54 And now we're back to not making sense.

36:02 Okay.

36:06 Just adding a ton of more instrumentation, a lot more life to the song.

36:13 Got to make sure my audio is still working.

36:15 It is great.

36:18 And now since we have more instruments playing and the bass,

36:21 the bass came in, we have better idea where

36:23 we are harmonically and how the vocal melody fits in.

36:30 I think we have some.

36:33 It keeps rolling with the choir.

36:45 Woo!

36:45 This is a party.

36:49 Change in arrangement.

36:50 We got some subdivisions.

36:59 I like the syncopation with da d what sub

37:12 class what sub genre of jazz is this honky tonk

37:17 lovely ac capella moment here kind of Don't you see that?

37:42 We got claps on the upies.

38:01 Okay.

38:02 A little a little tag.

38:06 If it was live performance.

38:09 What?

38:10 No.

38:11 Why?

38:11 Why?

38:12 Why did it end just as the piano started to improvise?

38:17 That was illegal.

38:21 That is going to trigger the jazz musician.

38:30 See da da da da da da da da da da.

38:34 It sounds like it's beginning a solo.

38:38 It's beginning a solo and then it just ends.

38:43 I can't help but wonder if they just went on for a very

38:46 long time and then they made a decision when to cut afterwards.

38:51 Maybe there's somewhere out there there's an even longer version.

38:55 Does it go smoothly into graceful breakfast?

39:20 I feel like da da da da da da da da da da da.

39:26 But then this is down here.

39:31 That was the beginning.

39:32 It's like it was like a mistake.

39:34 It was like it was cut off early, man.

39:36 Maybe there's some sort of Oh, wait.

39:39 Oh, wait.

39:39 Does it loop perfectly?

39:51 I'm not as mad as I was before.

39:56 The right person.

39:57 We've got a contender for number one on the album along with Paid with Bugs.

40:03 I had so much fun with that song.

40:05 Like this is a song I believe that reused chords,

40:09 but they were so hard to latch on to at the beginning.

40:13 I'm big question marks over my head and then they finally added the bass.

40:17 So then when we added the bass,

40:18 then I could do that analysis and then

40:20 they just like had fun over the same amount.

40:22 So it might be a criticism from our crew.

40:26 Sometimes like when I'm trying to decide which songs to show them,

40:28 I'm thinking ahead of like, okay,

40:30 what do these reactors like or dislike in music?

40:32 Like I could see maybe Ben and Catherine being like, "Yeah,

40:34 it was really cool." But then they never went anywhere else.

40:37 But maybe the the chords are colorful and interesting enough for them to not

40:41 care and they're just like so happy with what they did with them.

40:46 What's lyrics right and wrong person?

40:50 RM acne RM I would flip my shit if

40:55 Acne and RM the best acoustic K-pop artists out there.

41:01 Um, where's the right person?

41:02 Where's the wrong person?

41:03 Stop the fighting while we live.

41:04 Let's give each other a smile.

41:07 I mean, okay.

41:11 Yeah, confusing chords.

41:12 We got the shaker.

41:13 We started adding in hand drums.

41:15 So, like this has the instrumental development that I really, really love.

41:21 Just adding in rhythm rhythm section.

41:22 So, everything's so rhythmic.

41:24 And then right then eventually so cute the little pauses.

41:34 I didn't even notice the hand drums the first time through I don't think.

41:39 And then we've got the piano, the bass uh second guitar.

41:46 And they're like trading off with their little riffs.

42:00 which might be the thing they ended on.

42:04 And the piano is just a lot of syncupation.

42:08 That's what also makes this so dancy.

42:12 This might be actually number one.

42:19 Five minutes later.

42:22 No, wait.

42:24 It's just such a tempo change and vibe change even though like

42:28 or in instrumentation seems to be the same going into graceful breakfast,

42:31 but we just went from such a good party

42:33 time to what sounds like post dinner drunken like tired.

42:39 We'll we'll we'll see.

42:40 I can't judge by the first two seconds of you one.

42:44 It's just okay.

42:45 Okay.

42:45 A little got a little brighter.

42:46 But this is like like um in Winnie the Pooh Eore.

42:54 This is giving Eeyore while the other one was giving Piglet.

43:02 Okay, now it's a little bit more nice hits little Scooby-Doo.

43:15 Show tuning.

43:18 Yeah.

43:18 Show tuning.

43:25 Okay.

43:25 Brass.

43:26 We got trump and trombone.

43:36 Where are we going to go?

43:37 Make up your mind.

43:46 Stupid.

43:51 Yeah.

44:07 They open up saxophone.

44:23 Ooh, nice little run.

44:26 Okay, lower register.

44:44 This is how you do an instrument solo.

44:49 I am so proud to say AC is like my favorite artist with day six.

44:54 They give the instruments time to shine except

44:58 in the right person at the very end.

45:04 Okay.

45:04 A new section.

45:04 I believe we got a different feel.

45:14 What I was going to say is vowels are opening on da da.

45:21 They could have done like, you know, but they kept it open sound.

45:39 little retard.

45:44 She really dug into that.

45:48 That is going to be a grower.

45:49 I can already say it.

45:50 It felt like uh a bit of a slap to the face

45:52 going from the energy of the right person down to graceful breakfast.

45:56 Kind of felt like I fell down the stairs,

45:59 but listening to this song on its own, I know it will grow on me.

46:03 Um yeah, let's go live.

46:11 I think the instrumentation is trumpet, trombone, sachs.

46:19 Sometimes in horn sections there's two trombones and two trumpets.

46:27 Yeah.

46:27 Going from like the quarter note feel to halftime feel.

46:34 the little shakes.

46:38 That's what I think.

46:39 I think they use a plunger

46:42 and then like also lots of vibrto and we still have hand percussion.

47:04 I like how it starts off slower rhythmically and then gets

47:06 a little bit more and more subdivisions are added in like faster notes.

47:15 Sometimes playing the blues note, sometimes not.

47:23 I'm not sure how I feel about the way they recorded the sax though.

47:33 And then again, like I'm used to being

47:35 in the same room and hearing the clacking of the keys,

47:37 you know, and like the breath going through.

47:40 This is a very round like maybe they added reverb to it or something.

47:47 Like it could have been a little bit more dirty.

47:50 But then again, even this part part like the trumpet is like

47:57 it's like so piercing on their notes

47:59 that it's a little bit more poppy leaning than

48:06 and those rhythmic moments always come

48:09 as a surprise where they like take out everything.

48:15 Why not the second time around?

48:18 Yeah, not mad, not in love.

48:22 Probably grow on me.

48:24 Now we move on to Festival of Refugees,

48:28 which is different from Paradise of Rumors.

48:30 Ooh, this is only Eenhuk.

48:33 3 2 1 Festival of Refugees.

48:55 Very close to the mic.

49:08 Super close to the mic.

49:23 Two, three, four.

49:29 Raw raw sounding.

49:36 Is it like it was a BTS song where they autotuned the whistle?

49:40 I mad at the producer for autotuning a whistle.

49:42 Are you serious?

49:54 I like that melodic part.

50:04 Okay, change of guitar arrangement.

50:09 We do have two guitars.

50:12 H the refugees are coming.

50:22 Okay.

50:22 Tanny hug vibrto.

50:44 He couldn't get the note out.

50:50 It had so much character.

50:54 The not a great whistler, but that's completely fine.

50:59 That's so fine.

51:12 Wow.

51:13 We need to play this for Trump.

51:16 Hip hoper we high.

51:41 H I think I prefer the sound of Festival

51:46 of Refugees uh over his last solo song on this album,

51:49 but I'm trying to figure out why.

52:03 Or you can feel theum.

52:05 And also I think the sound of this guitar

52:08 is reminding me of my dad's acoustic guitar.

52:11 He's a casual guitarist.

52:15 But some of my favorite childhood memories is uh

52:18 getting ready for bed and he's just like out

52:19 in the living room trying to teach himself a song

52:22 on the guitar and the steel strings sound similar.

52:29 I also like how whispery his delivery is.

52:34 I think I maybe it's breathy on purpose.

52:36 Maybe it isn't that he's a bad whistler.

52:38 Maybe it's like purposely cuz I'm like like when my whistle

52:44 is more sharp and it has more tone to it,

52:46 it doesn't quite fit the vibe as much instead of Yeah.

52:57 Like my whistle is too perfect for this, which is a bad thing.

53:01 I'm not complimenting myself.

53:05 Love yourself.

53:07 I learned to whistle because I was sucking

53:09 my thumb as an 8-year-old and the therapist was like,

53:11 "Find her something else to do with her mouth."

53:14 And so then I learned to whistle.

53:21 Yeah.

53:22 I like how speech-like his delivery is and how quiet it is.

53:25 Lovely message.

53:31 Like if if I'm interpreting it correctly,

53:35 just like These people are wandering and need to find place of home.

53:38 If you've never wandered like and you aren't wandering,

53:43 who are you to turn them away?

53:45 Lovely.

53:46 Let's go, Saints.

53:58 Second Su Hian solo.

54:18 Oh yeah, nice contrast from the lower register stuff earlier.

54:45 I think Chan Hook might be in there and knocked it down.

54:52 Oh, a little boozy.

54:58 It's just it's hard to go from

55:03 that is code like they recorded through a megaphone or something.

55:32 really full voice.

55:43 That's always such a surprise.

55:45 Never expect that baser solo.

56:06 new material, right?

56:07 Maybe a lot of the songs have Oh, I thought that was going to be a tag ending.

56:21 I don't know, but I'm going there will be a tag again.

56:48 Yeah, that makes sense.

56:50 I'm okay.

56:51 For two seconds, I was shocked that we ended unresolved.

56:57 I think we ended on a syncopated beat.

56:58 Hold up.

56:59 Let's count together.

57:02 Oh, god damn it.

57:09 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 1 It was sudden.

57:17 Can I fully explain why?

57:18 My guess is that it was the and beat leading up to one.

57:21 Um, okay.

57:22 This song, it was emotional whiplash going from Festival of Refugees to Stains.

57:27 So, I kind of wish Festival of Refugees was earlier in the album.

57:33 Maybe around Sunshine Bless You and Tent.

57:35 Maybe they didn't want to like more raw sounding

57:38 recordings back to back with Tent and Festival of Refugees,

57:42 but it would have been more of a smooth vibe going from Oh,

57:46 and like Graceful Breakfast up there.

57:47 Like if we went from the right person to stain,

57:49 this one feels like a celebration live.

57:52 I'm going to be boopping around dancing without a care.

57:56 It's so energetic.

57:57 It's celebratory.

57:58 That's the word I was looking for.

58:01 And the right person was great leading up to that.

58:05 Um maybe the right the right person might have been more

58:08 energetic than stains because it might have been a faster tempo.

58:11 I do think it's a good ending song.

58:14 Tucked away in the corner.

58:15 I said I'd wash it someday.

58:18 Oh, the stain.

58:26 Why is it that Suan or Chanuk doubling him?

58:35 It might have been him.

58:37 It's called my self-made potato soup.

58:42 And I think the chords changed here.

58:43 I'm not sure.

58:44 They might be different from the first time.

58:48 I really really like this precourse.

58:55 Is it that like and I think that's different from the first time.

59:09 It is different.

59:14 musician approved if it was the same exact thing.

59:20 That would make it more pop leaning.

59:25 We have that take over little instrumental.

59:27 Okay.

59:28 Guitar solo, I think.

59:39 That is 10.

59:52 This is going to be fantastic live.

59:54 I've held on you for too long.

59:56 Goodbye audio is my love.

59:58 But then I will always keep it in me.

1:00:01 Maybe.

1:00:02 Oh.

1:00:02 Oh.

1:00:03 Oh.

1:00:03 Oh.

1:00:03 Are they talking about another person?

1:00:05 They're like, "Goodbye my memories with you." Wait, no.

1:00:12 Goodbye you, but I'll keep the memories together.

1:00:15 Like keeping like throwing away that stained shirt,

1:00:19 but keeping the memory of the day that you wore it, right?

1:00:25 Did I get there?

1:00:26 Um, lovely album.

1:00:27 I think Stains is my third favorite.

1:00:29 And I hope you look forward to a crew reaction.

1:00:31 So far, I think the one most likely

1:00:32 to be reacted to is the right person because I

1:00:35 have no freaking idea what's happening in there

1:00:37 and the reactors love a puzzle that takes time to solve.

1:00:41 Yeah, I'll show a couple of the other songs to them, too.

1:00:44 And I hope you look forward to that.

1:00:46 Thank you so much for listening along, watching with me.

1:00:49 Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

1:00:52 Do you like this album?

1:00:52 Do you not like this album?

1:00:53 What's your favorite song?

1:00:54 What's your not what's not your favorite song?

1:00:57 And I'll see you in a future video.

1:00:59 You don't see me as much anymore because I have an internship,

1:01:03 which I talk about a little bit in our podcasts.

1:01:06 Uh, so the free time that I would spend reacting

1:01:10 with Shawn or Henry is now spent behind the scenes

1:01:14 as an international ANR at a like a management

1:01:18 small management company that works with various songwriters and producers.

1:01:21 It's been so fun and that's what I want to do.

1:01:25 the the dream job.

1:01:26 I I believe um working at some sort

1:01:28 of management for songwriters and producers or a publishing company,

1:01:32 music label, that kind of thing.

1:01:34 But for the time being, I'm happy Acme is back.

1:01:37 Um like all my favorite artists came except EA.

1:01:40 EA better come back in 2026.

1:01:42 Bye-bye.
