Addressing Comments From the Vito Awards 2026 – POST-CREDITS Episode 1
Patrick Willems Presents
0:00 Hey folks, Patrick here.
0:01 I wanted to let you know that our new weekly Q&A show, Postredits,
0:05 we did it, we picked a title, is out now on our Patreon.
0:10 Uh, and what we're doing here, and we will do this uh,
0:13 periodically, like maybe every month or so, is that when we have a section
0:17 of postredits that is about addressing YouTube comments uh,
0:21 from a new main channel video, we will take that section and put it here
0:25 publicly on the second channel so anyone can see it.
0:29 And then if you want to watch the rest
0:30 of the episode and all the episodes in between, you can join the Patreon.
0:34 You can do that by clicking the link in the description
0:36 or here's the link here as well if you want
0:38 to like type it into your browser or here's a QR
0:41 code you can scan if you're like watching this on a TV.
0:44 And uh yeah, my my finger uh is still uh is still messed up.
0:49 Uh uh hey, in Postredits episode 2 uh I explain what's up with my finger.
0:55 Um and so there there's a tease for you.
0:58 But anyway, uh if you join the Patreon,
1:00 it obviously goes towards supporting the main channel,
1:02 paying everyone who works on it.
1:04 Um it's a great cause, assuming that you,
1:06 you know, you like the stuff that we make.
1:08 But anyway, I will stop shilling now.
1:10 I will leave you alone even though there's more of me coming.
1:13 So yeah, uh let's roll it.
1:16 Hello everybody and welcome to the new show
1:20 that is taking the place of Patrick replies.
1:24 Uh so full disclosure, I am shooting this before we have released the final
1:30 Patrick replies video where I announce uh what is happening.
1:34 Um and so we still don't have a title.
1:36 Uh I'm I'm kind of relying on the audience on you guys to uh give us
1:42 ideas or tell us what which of the potential titles I tossed out uh you like.
1:48 And uh yeah, I want uh people to figure it out for me cuz I'm stuck on a title.
1:53 So maybe by the time this comes out, uh,
1:56 the video will have a title on it and we'll know what we're calling this.
1:59 But also, I don't know if anyone is like signing up for the Patreon for this.
2:04 I don't know if people want to watch this.
2:07 Um, we'll see.
2:09 We'll see um how this does, but um,
2:12 right now my plan is to continue this to basically shoot
2:17 one of these every week and have it out every week.
2:21 And so right now you might be asking, what is different about this show?
2:24 Well, for one thing, I'm shooting it in a different room in my apartment.
2:28 Uh I don't know if it's always going to be in the living room.
2:31 Um this just seemed like an easy place to do it, but I wanted, you know,
2:35 to to, you know, to differentiate it
2:37 visually from what we had been doing before.
2:40 So uh that same angle in in in my office,
2:45 dunzo, unless we go back there for some reason.
2:48 I would like to have like a really set format.
2:50 Like what was easy about the Patrick Replies videos is that the camera
2:54 and the light and the microphone were always set up in the exact same place.
2:58 So, it was, you know, kind of automated.
3:02 And uh and we'll see if we can get this to that point,
3:05 especially cuz I'll be doing this more frequently.
3:08 But as far as the format for this first episode goes, uh it's funny.
3:13 This one will actually be closer to a Patrick applies video because um you
3:19 know we have a relevant thing to talk about which is the veto awards.
3:24 Uh and so we're actually going to start by looking at YouTube comments pulled
3:28 by Elliot Gammons as always uh to just look at what people were saying about it.
3:33 But we'll go about this a little bit differently.
3:35 This is not going to be me one by one going through like 20 comments.
3:42 The vetos are, you know,
3:43 are are one kind of like proper new new video so far this year.
3:47 There was the one about like movie making lessons
3:50 that uh that is out on Nebula right now,
3:53 but you know, that's not so much like a regular kind of video.
3:56 So, I don't know how much we'll actually talk about that one.
3:58 I mean, I don't know.
3:59 We'll see once it comes out on YouTube, you know,
4:02 if there's any interesting discussion to be
4:04 had from it or questions people have.
4:06 But the vetos was a big undertaking.
4:09 some background actually that I I will say here.
4:12 Uh we uh almost did not make the veto awards this year.
4:18 Going into this new year,
4:20 uh I had just no enthusiasm for it and really no desire to do it.
4:26 And I was just telling people like, "Yeah,
4:28 I don't think I want to do it this year." And um I
4:31 actually I remember I was getting coffee with uh the editor of the replies
4:35 videos and uh and I mentioned that yeah I don't I don't think
4:39 I want to do it this year and he was like genuinely bummed.
4:42 He said oh man I that's one of the things I
4:43 look forward to most on the channel every year and I
4:46 I was kind of shocked like oh I I I
4:50 truly did not think anyone really cared about about that thing.
4:54 And then I was talking about it with Jake and uh
4:57 and he said well what don't you like about it?
4:58 And I said, "Well, it's mostly like the last,
5:02 I don't know, 15, 20 minutes where I, you know,
5:05 it kind of stops being like just silly jokes and I
5:10 have to kind of just be a regular film critic
5:12 and write a little like section on like my top 10
5:16 movies and just actually talk about why movies are great." Uh,
5:20 and that part like writing it every year is like pulling teeth.
5:23 I'm doing it right up until the last second
5:26 before we shoot because I just don't like doing it.
5:29 And so then Jake said,
5:30 "What if you don't do that part?" And I realized, "Oh yeah,
5:35 what if what if uh instead of like talking one by one about my top 10 movies,
5:40 what if we just make one award uh for best movie
5:44 and my top 10 movies are just the nominees and then that's it?
5:47 And what if it was only the silly
5:49 stuff?" And suddenly it became a lot more appealing.
5:53 And um and then you know I think from taking some
5:56 time off like the month of January uh I had a lot
5:59 of energy kind of pent up and yeah we did an entire
6:03 musical number right at the start of the episode which was
6:08 truly an unnecessary amount of work uh for all of us
6:12 especially uh shout out to Brian Matleius who you know wrote
6:16 and and produced that that whole song and uh and really he
6:21 deserves most of the credit for that and and then the video,
6:24 you know, underperformed.
6:25 And so, unfortunately, not as many people got to see that number that I'm
6:29 very proud of as uh as I would have liked.
6:31 But whatever.
6:31 But whatever.
6:32 Let's see what people said about the vetos.
6:35 And I will say making it this year got me, you know,
6:40 reinvested in the idea of the vetos as an annual thing.
6:44 So, expect to see it next year and every year until I stop making videos.
6:50 I don't know when that'll be, but uh but yeah, the veto is an annual thing.
6:54 It's locked in.
6:55 And I am serious, as I've mentioned this before,
6:58 about potentially trying to do it as a live show.
7:01 Maybe next year.
7:03 So, I don't really know how to put
7:05 together a live show because we've never done one, but uh I'll look into it.
7:10 So, speaking of the musical number,
7:11 there were a bunch of comments about the musical number.
7:13 Uh Jess McMullen saying,
7:14 "Have having a musical for the intro is top[ __] tier." Thank you.
7:18 I agree.
7:20 Uh, Jackson McMahon said, "I loved the opening number.
7:23 Great moments like that are why I'm a big fan
7:25 of this channel." That's kind of what I hope for.
7:28 I'm like, I know there are people out there who who do and will continue
7:32 to appreciate the the truly unnecessary amount
7:36 of effort we put into stupid things like that.
7:38 Richard RDE says, "Dude, that intro song is awesome.
7:42 Knowing you struggle with filming yourself in public makes it even better.
7:45 Also, great singing voice, Patrick.
7:47 That that's very kind.
7:48 Uh, it is true.
7:49 I I've said before I hate filming myself in public.
7:52 Uh, and to be clear, like when we shot the stuff in public,
7:56 uh, we would we would wait until there was no one walking by, uh,
8:01 because I did not want people to, uh,
8:04 to see me singing in public cuz it's deeply embarrassing.
8:08 And yeah, uh, I do not have a good singing voice.
8:11 Um, I have at best a mediocre one.
8:17 But Brian at this point knows how to write for my very limited range.
8:22 And I did a whole bunch of takes and I was like, "Brian,
8:25 splice this together from the most usable parts of every take." And uh
8:30 and he made me not hate listening to myself, which is amazing.
8:34 Uh Gamer46F says, "I have to say Patrick might not be a singer, correct,
8:40 but he pulled the musical opening sequence off so well." Well, I'll take it.
8:45 Uh it was such a vibe.
8:46 Shout out to Brian Matius and his music.
8:48 He rocks.
8:49 Yes, he does.
8:51 I love that people enjoyed the musical number.
8:54 Also, another notable thing about about the Vetos
8:57 was uh the return of my parents.
9:00 Uh my parents have not appeared in anything channel related
9:05 since the holiday special uh on Nebula in late 2023.
9:09 It's been a while.
9:10 Uh last year they started like you know kind of like you know kindly
9:16 nagging me about like hey when are you gonna put us in a video again?
9:18 We're we're ready to go.
9:19 Let's let's do it.
9:20 And um and then it all it kind of worked out perfectly.
9:24 So that guy Pierce says thank you Patrick's mom
9:26 for teaching me how to pronounce Barry K's last name.
9:29 Okay.
9:30 I will say the thing about Barry the Irish actor who you
9:33 know we're all familiar with uh who often plays a nasty little freak.
9:36 I am genuinely mystified by how to pronounce his name.
9:40 Uh, according to my mom, uh, the the proper Irish pronunciation does not have
9:46 the hard G soundage would be Barry Kon.
9:49 But I have seen interviews with other
9:52 Irish people like Colin Farrell say Barry Kyogan.
9:56 Uh, but then I've I've also seen videos of Irish people saying Barry
10:01 Ke and I cannot find a video of him saying his own last name.
10:06 Uh, and and so I'm not really sure.
10:10 Again, I'm going by my mom saying that that Kon is the proper
10:14 Irish pronunciation because I think in the Irish language and Irish people,
10:18 I'm sorry if I'm totally wrong here,
10:20 that the gh is is not supposed to be a hard G sound like
10:24 you know the name Gallagher uh pronounced in like the Irish way is Galaher.
10:31 And uh and so yeah, so yeah, I'm not sure.
10:34 I I I I have really done my research and I'm still a little bit baffled by it.
10:38 Felix Bombgardner says,
10:39 "The gag with your parents was one of the most hilarious things y'all have done.
10:43 Incredible stuff.
10:44 Always love when they show up." Jeza says,
10:47 "Consistently impressed how Patrick's parents are
10:50 always the best actors in these videos.
10:52 They are stars." Samuel Barber says,
10:54 "I wish Patrick's parents would make a YouTube
10:56 channel and it's just them playing pingpong, his mom being Irish,
10:59 and his dad explaining his opinions
11:01 on various subjects in multi-hour videos." You know,
11:03 I have tossed out to them just like, "Guys,
11:05 I bet if you did a podcast, people would listen.
11:08 I'm not actually sure I want them to do a podcast,
11:10 but uh but yeah, and I don't think they want to either.
11:13 They don't want more work.
11:14 They're retired." But um but they love doing this stuff.
11:18 And uh I will say we shot that in the barn uh in the upstairs
11:22 part of the barn uh which you may have seen in like Night of the Coconut.
11:26 There's a scene with Khloe and Matt uh talking there at the ping pong table.
11:30 uh that is referred to as the pingpong palace.
11:33 And my parents do during the winter almost nightly just
11:39 go out in the cold to the ping pong palace.
11:42 They they like bring a bottle of wine and uh like
11:44 a Bluetooth speaker to play music and they competitively play pingpong.
11:49 I I it's too late for it now,
11:51 but like I wish we could have gotten like Timothy Shalamé to do like
11:55 a Marty Supreme promo thing and visit
11:58 my parents' barn and play pingpong with them.
12:03 A24, where were you guys?
12:05 Why didn't you know that we we had this resource available?
12:10 Look, Timmy would have won the Oscar if
12:12 if he was like campaigning with my parents.
12:15 Come on, guys.
12:17 Okay, what what else do we have?
12:18 Oh, okay.
12:19 So, we've got people complaining about snubs.
12:23 Um, Mark Ruffalo and Mickey 17 snubbed for worst politician.
12:26 Was he?
12:27 I left him out because in that film he's a retired politician.
12:31 He's no longer in office, therefore it doesn't count.
12:35 Liam Niss for best Irish person for The Naked Gun.
12:39 Uh, yeah, that one's on me.
12:40 Um, Liam Niss is so good in that movie.
12:44 I love The Naked Gun.
12:45 Um, I just forgot about him, which is weird because that movie is in my top 25.
12:51 I guess there's a lot of Irish people in movies.
12:54 Let's see.
12:54 Wake up Dead Man was snubbed for punctuation,
12:58 but Wake up Dead Man has no punctuation.
13:00 I I checked.
13:00 There is no comma in there.
13:02 I I guess it is.
13:03 The lack of punctuation could be called annoying.
13:06 So, I don't know.
13:06 I don't know.
13:07 The fact that there was a category called best
13:09 ass whooping and Marty Supreme wasn't a nomination is insane.
13:13 Uh, you kind of got me there.
13:15 Like truly with Best Ass Whooping.
13:17 I was just so stressed, needlessly stressed, but still stressed.
13:21 Um, just about trying to cover more action
13:24 movies and action scenes and being like, "God, what?
13:27 I I missed a bunch of action movies that I hear are good that should be
13:31 nominated in this category that I didn't even
13:33 think of the obvious joke there for like,
13:35 you know, like an ass paddling." So, that's on me.
13:40 Uh, Donna Summers Love to Love You Baby
13:42 in The Secret Agent was snubbed for best needle drop.
13:45 I'm I'm I'm sure it was, but look,
13:47 as you saw, that was the most crowded category.
13:50 We had like extra nominees.
13:51 We had like eight nominees or whatever because there were so many.
13:55 Look, a lot of a lot of good needle drops.
13:57 And I will say, not not really a spoiler for the vetos next year,
14:02 but I've already been making the list of uh
14:04 potential like nominees and categories for the vetos 2027.
14:09 And we've got some some good contenders for best needle drop.
14:13 That's all I'm going to say.
14:15 Okay.
14:15 Dirty Work was robbed by another needle drop in the same movie.
14:18 Dirty Work in One Battle After Another.
14:21 Uh, I did consider that one because it is great
14:25 and I did just finally decide that I think for me uh,
14:29 American Girl is my favorite um, in that movie,
14:33 but Dirty Work, you know, a really really good contender.
14:38 I strongly protest the exclusion of Olga
14:41 Kurillinko's Taskmaster in the inmemoriam segment.
14:45 Uh I I I am sorry to Olga Kurolinko and Taskmaster,
14:50 but uh it has been many months and I think that I
14:55 like probably a lot of people forgot that Taskmaster was in that movie.
15:02 So, uh I'm sorry.
15:04 Uh okay, wait.
15:05 We've got um Elliot did he made a whole folder for the most consistent snub.
15:12 Okay, which is Oh, okay.
15:18 A lot like multiple comments uh all getting, you know,
15:23 up votes about um good about the dog apparently named
15:28 Indie from Good Boy not getting nominated for best critter.
15:33 Uh I'm a little surprised by this reaction because I did not see Good Boy.
15:38 I'm aware of the movie.
15:39 It's like the horror movie from the dog's perspective.
15:42 Uh, but uh I I didn't really like see anyone talking about it.
15:47 Did everyone see Good Boy?
15:49 And I just didn't realize it like when I was trying to catch up
15:53 on all the movies I I'd missed over the year like before the vetos.
15:56 Good Boy was not even on my list of of things to catch up on.
16:00 Is it good?
16:01 Is is is Good Boy a a good boy?
16:06 A good a good movie?
16:07 Um I don't know.
16:08 Uh, but I did not expect that people would
16:11 be up in arms because I left off this dog.
16:15 So, sorry about that.
16:17 Okay.
16:18 And then we have some just some general
16:20 some general miscellaneous uh comments uh about the video.
16:25 Um, o this is a long one saying this is
16:28 the definitive best explanation for what Chicken Jockey is.
16:32 And uh I'm sorry, but that's just too much.
16:37 I'm not reading that.
16:38 I'm just never going to know what chicken jockey is.
16:41 And the comment ends with saying, "Sorry to the dinner plan,
16:44 but the ugly stepsister absolutely should have
16:46 won best puke in my opinion." Rude.
16:50 Rude.
16:50 You're trying to take my award away from me that I worked so hard to earn.
16:57 I haven't seen The Ugly Stepsister.
16:58 Maybe you should have won, but I didn't see it.
17:01 And look, you'll have to pry my veto award for best puke
17:05 for my cold dead hands because I'm never giving that thing up.
17:09 On Rotten Tomatoes, Fantastic 4 First Steps has 86% positive critical reviews
17:13 and 90% positive audience reviews seems
17:16 like it was actually fairly broadly liked.
17:19 I mean, yeah, when I say that movie that I liked and no one else did,
17:22 I don't mean that like literally no other human on Earth liked the movie.
17:26 I mean like you know I give it to materialists and that also has like
17:29 a positive Rotten Tomato score that you
17:31 know the general critical consensus was positive there.
17:35 This is mostly kind of like an anecdotal thing um where
17:39 like it seemed like a lot of people uh were like lukewarm
17:43 on a movie or didn't like a movie and um and yeah
17:47 look Fantastic 4 uh did not light the box office on fire.
17:52 Uh people did seem like like a little chilly like uh you know on on the movie.
17:58 Maybe I should have called the award movie that I
18:00 liked more than most people that I talked to about it.
18:04 But the name of the category that I chose I just thought was funnier.
18:08 So that's it.
18:10 Barry Kon uh was in at least one movie last year.
18:14 Hurry up tomorrow.
18:16 Oh, that's the that's the weekend movie, right?
18:19 Uh, which is my pick for the best movie I liked, but apparently no one else did.
18:22 A movie that I didn't see,
18:24 but I am aware that most people did not seem to like it very much.
18:28 Um, let's see.
18:29 Uh, did you put a puke scene in your movie just so you could win a veto?
18:34 Yes.
18:35 Griffin Newman snubbed as the most enthusiastic 40X fan in New York.
18:41 Honestly, ooh, I mean, look,
18:43 I will let Ben David and Griffin fight this out amongst themselves.
18:47 I mean, the thing is they they'd like go to see most 40X movies together.
18:53 Look, if either of those guys are watching this, I
18:56 have asked them how I get in on this 40X club.
18:59 I literally saw both of them, like I I was with both of them last night.
19:03 Uh, and um, and they're always just going to see 40X movies together.
19:09 And over a year ago,
19:12 we were all going to go see Craven the Hunter in 40X together.
19:17 And then uh uh separately all all of us
19:22 or maybe maybe actually no we were all at Ben
19:25 Hosley's Christmas party and then we're like let's all go
19:28 see Craven in 40X in a few days to catch
19:32 like the last showing and then we all came
19:36 down with the cold which maybe we just caught
19:38 at that party but um but yeah I'm like was
19:41 that my my one big opportunity to join 40x club?
19:45 uh you know, did I did they just decide to not invite me ever again after that?
19:50 I don't know.
19:50 I do not know.
19:51 But uh but yeah, I will say um you know
19:55 uh a point in Ben David's favor uh for this title.
19:58 Like he said in the video,
20:00 he did partly move to New York from LA to have access to more 40X theaters.
20:05 Griffin has not moved across the country for 40X,
20:09 so I think that might might seal it right there.
20:12 Also, I'm sorry about the pipes banging, but um but it's a you know,
20:16 an unseasonably cold day in New York, so that means that, you know,
20:22 the hot water is flowing through the radiators and the pipes are
20:25 clanging in these pre-war apartments because that's just a part of New York.
20:29 Billy Bob Joe Fred Studios, okay, says, "I have literally never been more upset
20:35 watching this channel as Patrick liking materialists." Well,
20:40 Billy Bob Joe Fred, too bad.
20:43 I stand by it.
20:45 I like that movie a lot.
20:47 I think it's great and you're just going to have to deal with that.
20:50 Okay.
20:50 And so that does it uh for comments about the vetos.
20:54 Uh at least from YouTube.
20:55 Uh we're now going to jump over because there are Discord qu Oh my god,
21:00 there's a lot of Discord questions uh about the vetos.
