2026 Rookie Sleepers We LOVE! Advanced Stats + Film Breakdown | 2026 Fantasy Football Advice
Fantasy Football Today
0:05 [music]
0:07 It is fantasy football today meets beyond the box score.
0:11 What do they call this?
0:12 Crossover episode?
0:14 Crossover episode.
0:15 Yeah.
0:16 Remember do you guys remember Flintstones meet the Jetsons?
0:19 No, we don't remember Flintstones meet the Jetsons.
0:21 We're not in your age bracket.
0:23 I thought you could have referenced BoJack Horseman,
0:25 which is kind of old, and then you gave us Flintstones.
0:29 [laughter] You've seen Flintstones Flintstones meet the Jetsons, right?
0:31 Yeah, I was four.
0:33 I think it's Jetsons meet the Flintstones or something like that.
0:35 Um it was great, wonderful episode.
0:37 Anyway, welcome to the show.
0:39 You hear Jacob and Dan.
0:40 Jamie is here.
0:41 I'm Adam, and we're going to talk about some rookie gems.
0:44 We're going to also get Dan and Jacob's opinion on the first round
0:47 guys and how they fit schematically with the teams that they went to.
0:50 We'll talk about the Deshaun Watson news, but you know,
0:53 Jacob and Dan give great tips every year on players who
0:57 might not be on your fantasy radar right now, but should be.
1:00 And are all of them going to pan out?
1:01 No, but if one or two do, that's a huge advantage to you.
1:04 So, I'll even maybe you would be even more than that.
1:07 We're going to identify some players that we
1:08 like that are in situations that are maybe just one injury away from being
1:12 really good and really beneficial for fantasy managers.
1:15 Uh your emails, we have some of those as well.
1:17 Our email address is fantasyfootball@cbsi.com.
1:21 I haven't talked Oh, Dan, what's up?
1:22 I haven't talked to you in a while.
1:24 I haven't been on in a while.
1:25 I haven't talked to you and Jamie.
1:26 Feels like some part of my life is missing.
1:28 Um so, it's good to be back.
1:30 It's been a lot to talk about.
1:31 We'll save it for another mailbag.
1:32 This show is focused on the football.
1:35 [snorts] He's been He's been just raving about his tennis game, Dan.
1:38 Like None of that has happened,
1:39 but I am finally playing with my brother this Friday.
1:41 He's been really getting into He wants Aizer by the way.
1:44 He wants an Aizer match.
1:44 He wants a singles match versus you and he
1:46 wants a doubles match versus the Aizer brothers.
1:48 That still needs to happen well before our match.
1:50 We need to get some practice matches in.
1:52 Okay, no problem.
1:53 I'm two and 0 this week by the way, including a triumphant win last night.
1:56 So, anyway, um have a comment in the chat uh
2:00 from a guy who also said I was baking eggs,
2:03 which is why we were late to the show today.
2:05 I've [laughter] never baked a But then says, "The entire class is sleepers, lol.
2:10 It really is garbage draft class after like six picks." Dan,
2:13 do you agree with that?
2:16 You know, I'm trying to bring optimism to the show.
2:18 I'm trying to be a new me, new year uh motto,
2:20 but I don't feel very good about this class at all.
2:23 And there's no real I I don't want to say it
2:26 as if like there's actionable advice cuz everyone's like, "All right, well,
2:28 you tell me you don't feel good about the class,
2:29 then what do I do?" Nobody wants to trade for these picks in dynasty.
2:32 The only thing I would say is we're going to hype players,
2:34 just keep it into some at least in my mind,
2:37 keep it in some version of like a context of like let's not go so crazy.
2:40 Let's not trade future assets for these guys.
2:44 Okay.
2:44 That's how I feel, at least.
2:46 Jacob?
2:46 Yeah, I mean, we're today like we're mostly focused
2:48 I think on what could happen this year, right?
2:50 Like you're bringing up future assets,
2:51 but we're talking about like the 2026 season.
2:53 Sure.
2:53 And yeah, in reality most of these guys
2:55 are are behind somebody on their depth chart.
2:58 Um so, I think it's most important to find the players
2:59 that we think are good and the players that are on good teams.
3:02 Uh and I do think we have plenty of those this year.
3:04 I know it's a it's a weird class overall,
3:07 um but I do think that there are a few diamonds in the rough here potentially.
3:11 Um and I think this practice has been good in the past like to kind of get ahead
3:14 of some of these players who end up getting steamed
3:16 up the draft board by the time August rolls around.
3:18 So, I'm excited to get to it.
3:20 And then let's talk about the debate we were having before the show started.
3:22 I actually think in in addition to just me kind
3:25 of making fun of all three of you for being wrong,
3:28 uh I do think it's a fun fantasy debate is if you're in a dynasty league,
3:32 when to do your rookie drafts cuz I think
3:34 all three of you are already doing rookie drafts.
3:37 Right.
3:38 And I do not want to do our rookie
3:40 draft in the Big Burger Dynasty League until honestly August.
3:45 Uh it is you know, I just don't want to and I'll tell you why.
3:48 I mean, I have a little I'm scarred by drafting R.J.
3:51 Harvey cuz people you know, "Yeah, Adam, I started the draft.
3:53 I started." And then I draft R.J.
3:55 Harvey and then they sign J.K.
3:56 Dobbins.
3:57 And it really bothered me.
3:58 It really bothered me.
3:59 It's like almost a waste of a first round pick.
4:01 And I just don't understand why to do it now.
4:04 Is this this to me Jamie, I'll let you have the first word.
4:07 This to me would be like, "Oh,
4:08 the the college football championship game just ended.
4:11 Let's have the NFL draft in two days." It's so silly.
4:14 [clears throat] Like give people time to do their research,
4:17 get training camp reports,
4:18 that's like the equivalent of the combine, and then do your rookie draft.
4:22 Why would I do it now, Jamie?
4:23 It's a terrible idea and I hate you for it.
4:27 Um Yeah, I was trying to think of all the things you hate me for.
4:30 Um I I think just it's you know, you hate fun.
4:35 So, Yeah, he does.
4:36 He really does.
4:37 I I think, you know, for most people I I I would assume and you know,
4:42 what happens You know what happens when you assume,
4:43 but I I would assume that most people who
4:45 play in dynasty leagues also dabble in redraft leagues still.
4:49 And so, you have multiple drafts usually happening in August
4:52 or at least one that you probably care about a lot.
4:55 And so, why would you not want to start the draft
4:57 process as much as as soon as you possibly can?
5:01 Because then it allows you to still make trades on the picks that you
5:04 have made at this point leading up to lots of things that may change.
5:09 So, for example, like you got in your mind burned by R.J.
5:13 Harvey with the J.K.
5:14 Dobbins signing.
5:15 I would imagine there are probably still people in your league,
5:19 which we are part of, that would have
5:21 been very still still very interested in R.J.
5:24 Harvey despite the Dobbins addition.
5:26 And you may have been able to capitalize
5:27 on that and either get a player that you wanted that may
5:29 have gotten a little bit later or traded for future
5:32 assets if you were so pissed off that R.J.
5:34 Harvey was now going to stink because of the addition of J.K.
5:37 Dobbins.
5:37 It's also not taking into account why we play dynasty.
5:40 It's not just for the upcoming season, it's for the future.
5:43 And so, you know, at the time when they signed Dobbins,
5:46 I didn't really look at it as this is their duo now for many years to come.
5:50 I thought it was this was a stopgap that R.J.
5:52 Harvey still going to have a good career.
5:53 I'm still hopeful for that.
5:54 But obviously what we saw in his rookie
5:56 campaign did not necessarily lead to that.
5:58 Not to get into R.J.
5:58 Harvey discussion.
5:59 But again, I think that part of it is like this is
6:01 the time to have fun because the NFL draft has happened.
6:03 You're excited about your dynasty league.
6:05 You're excited about the rookies.
6:06 You want to do a draft.
6:07 You should be doing a draft.
6:09 Yeah, I just don't want to do it.
6:11 But all right.
6:12 have fun.
6:12 Enjoy yourself.
6:13 Like what are you so worried about?
6:14 You're always so scared and nervous about things that aren't going to hurt you.
6:17 Like Look, if your decision to draft R.J.
6:20 Harvey was impacted that much by a one-year J.K.
6:23 Dobbins signing last year,
6:25 then you didn't have the right process for drafting Harvey in the first place.
6:28 Okay, look, I I I was just using it as an example.
6:30 I wasn't I'll give you I'll give you I'll give you two scenarios right now.
6:33 So, um I'm in one draft with other analysts in in our industry.
6:38 And I had the seventh pick,
6:40 so seventh pick all throughout it's a non-snake draft.
6:42 Um in the second round I took Stribling.
6:44 He was the best player on the board for me.
6:46 If there is a 49ers injury, that never happens,
6:49 if there's a wide receiver injury, um I love the situation.
6:54 Stribling may be a first round pick if there's an injury that occurs.
6:57 Uh conversely, I traded my third round pick.
7:00 Somebody offered me uh it's a superflex league.
7:04 My my quarterbacks are pretty terrible.
7:05 Somebody offered me Jacoby Brissett for my third round pick.
7:08 In this year's draft I felt like it was
7:10 worth the risk to take a chance on Jacoby Brissett.
7:13 That pick ended up being Clayborn from the Vikings, their their running back.
7:16 Uh if there is an Aaron Jones injury or a Jordan Mason injury or both,
7:21 not that Aaron Jones ever gets hurt, unfortunately for him,
7:24 um Clayborn could be somebody that's very relevant and I just
7:27 made a terrible mistake by not drafting him in the third round.
7:30 So, there's there's there's ways that this works
7:32 out for you and obviously against you.
7:34 Uh but that's part of the risk that you take when drafting this early,
7:37 which I know you don't want to take because you don't like that fun.
7:39 I'm also a believer by the way in like a nobody likes this.
7:42 I like the early August drafts for my redraft home league and stuff like that.
7:45 Nobody ever wants to be like,
7:46 "I want to get there before all the information's out there.
7:48 I want to get there before they can just have
7:50 every analyst in the world tell them every little last thing." part of it.
7:54 That is part of it, but I I I think I would
7:55 do it even if I was an enthusiast of just the NFL because
7:58 I would want my fresh takes to have a chance to boss them
8:00 instead of like them being caught up by every single ana you know,
8:04 all the the cycle that that comes with it.
8:06 There's still some guys that you can kind of edge by a little
8:10 bit still in August and then obviously it's gone by the end of August.
8:13 I just want to say I'm happy to see you today, Adam.
8:15 I don't think you're a coward.
8:16 I think you like that fun.
8:17 I I have a lot of fun when I'm with you hanging out on the podcast.
8:20 Yeah.
8:21 You know where Jamie and I are at.
8:22 You know where Jamie and I He's drafting in April.
8:24 I mean, come on, people.
8:26 Um all right, news and notes and then uh
8:28 we will uh get into get into the rookies.
8:31 We have a we have a former coworker on our chat.
8:34 Yes, Greg.
8:35 Greg Simolu.
8:36 Greg?
8:37 What's going on?
8:40 [laughter] Uh one of my favorites.
8:41 Very very funny.
8:42 Oh, look at his his What does his avatar say?
8:45 It says, "Be brave enough to suck at something new." I love that.
8:48 What's green stripe?
8:50 Green stripe uh it was a shirt that I had.
8:54 Oh, that green stripe.
8:55 I've heard about that shirt.
8:56 a random green stripe.
8:57 Yeah, that terrible shirt.
8:59 Yeah, a terrible shirt.
9:00 And I wore it to work and uh Greg called me green stripe forever.
9:05 [laughter] And he would look at me and just go,
9:06 "Stripe!" You When you used to go into the office,
9:09 did you have to like pass your outfit by Ali
9:11 or was it just you kind of just wore whatever you wanted?
9:13 And I didn't know her when I went in the office.
9:16 Okay, that's uh that makes a lot more sense.
9:18 No, but you know where I got you bought your stupid Star Wars Star Trek shirt.
9:21 That Star Trek shirt is so bad.
9:22 I want him to wear that.
9:23 When's the last time you put that on air?
9:25 It's been a while.
9:26 It's so bad.
9:28 That thing is definitely going in the garbage.
9:29 There's no No way you're keeping it.
9:31 You know who's having the worst luck right now?
9:33 Jacob.
9:36 [laughter] I'm just I'm just working on other stuff.
9:37 Yeah, carry on.
9:38 Carry on.
9:39 Jacob's all game, man.
9:40 He's all ball.
9:41 Yep, I love it.
9:42 All right, news and notes.
9:43 Deshaun Watson is the inside track to be Cleveland's
9:45 starting quarterback according to Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com.
9:49 Uh from a CBSsports.com article, here's just a quote.
9:52 "When he has been on the field, Watson has been awful.
9:55 Among 48 quarterbacks with at least 500 drop backs from 2022 to 2024,
10:00 so that's 48 quarterbacks, Watson ranked 47th, I'll just make it easier,
10:06 46th or 47th in net yards per attempt, expected points added per play,
10:11 explosive plays per drop back, sack rate, and negative plays rate.
10:14 So, we know he's been one of the worst quarterbacks.
10:16 Um, one time the guys were dumb enough to let me write a sleepers column.
10:20 And I made Deshaun Watson a 2024 sleeper because he actually played
10:25 five healthy games in 2023 and he averaged 20.5 fantasy points per game.
10:31 And because if you actually look at his he's
10:33 played five or six healthy games in three straight seasons,
10:35 Deshaun Watson, and I'll just point this out.
10:37 He's coming off a torn Achilles,
10:38 but in all three seasons he was on pace for at least 419 rushing yards.
10:44 And I'll just, you know, I'll just leave it there because he still has
10:47 some rushing upside to maybe make him fantasy relevant.
10:51 But, um, Jacob, what do you think Deshaun Watson,
10:54 not to say that he wouldn't lose his job or anything if he struggles,
10:57 but I guess would you for the sake of Casey Concepcion or Denzel Boston,
11:03 do you have a preference of quarterback?
11:05 Uh, I got no.
11:08 I guess Watson.
11:08 I mean, you just you're like he's was
11:10 the worst when he played and it's like, well, yeah,
11:11 so was Shidou and Taylen Green like they lost
11:15 10 straight games at Arkansas last year or whatever.
11:17 Like I no.
11:18 I don't really want any of the Browns guys for this year.
11:22 I love this.
11:23 Love this.
11:23 Love this for Fan and Concepcion, Boston,
11:26 all these guys because this is going to get them to Arch Manning.
11:30 That is true, but that's down the line.
11:32 That's good for the dynasty aspect of it.
11:33 I thought it was interesting.
11:34 Jamie, you retweeted uh,
11:36 I think Mary Kay Cabot's report on this, but I just
11:39 clicked through that and I just thought it was super interesting.
11:41 He's like breaking news out of voluntary mini camp,
11:45 Deshaun Watson has emerged as the undoubted favorite.
11:48 I'm like, voluntary mini camp.
11:49 I've been I've seen one of these things with the Giants.
11:51 It is not intense.
11:53 It is nothing is going on there.
11:54 There is no nobody emerging from camp rookie voluntary mini camp.
11:58 So, I think this is still going to be a job that's won in camp.
12:01 I don't think Watson's going to be the favorite.
12:03 I think he'll win the job just because I personally find
12:06 Gabriel and and Sanders to be pretty unplayable at the NFL level,
12:09 but I don't think it's going to be too much of advantage for fantasy value.
12:12 That Watson year like that was pre-Achilles, right?
12:15 When he had those rushing yards that the Achilles was after that.
12:17 Yeah, so I just it killed it kills his fantasy value
12:20 to not be like have that upside in my mind of the rushing.
12:23 It's been a while though.
12:24 It's It's been a year and a half, I think.
12:26 Or it will be since he tore the Achilles.
12:28 Yeah, I think it's going to be like pretty close to two full years um,
12:31 once we uh, week one rolls around, but all right.
12:34 Uh, George Pickens signed his franchise tender,
12:37 the Texans signed linebacker Aziz Al-Shair to a three-year $54 million deal,
12:42 and Matt Barrows of The Athletic thinks that the 49ers
12:45 could release Brandon Aiyuk on May 27th when their OTAs begin.
12:50 Uh, give me Give me a quick Beyond the Box Score promo.
12:54 I can't I would give it to Dan, the the uh, what do we call him?
12:58 Plug guy.
12:58 Plug God.
13:00 But, I don't have enough time,
13:01 so let's go to think of a promo Beyond the Box Score promo.
13:05 Uh, yeah, we've got just a bunch of NFL Draft coverage.
13:07 So, like lots of player specific stuff, like 15 to 20 minutes on uh,
13:11 all of the the biggest players if
13:12 you want to learn more about them specifically.
13:15 Um, and then like we also are doing every team,
13:18 looking at every single team in the NFL and what
13:20 they did in the NFL Draft or did not do,
13:23 including like their UDFA signings and stuff like that to try
13:26 to get an idea of like what these identities are.
13:28 And so, that's what we'll be doing over
13:29 the rest of the off season just kind of figuring
13:31 out what we think these teams are going to do
13:32 from the coaching staff down to the players um,
13:35 and figuring out how that's all going to affect fantasy.
13:38 And the most important thing you need to do
13:39 today is you need to send Dave Richard an email.
13:42 Because Dave is looking for people who are
13:43 interested in taking part in our fan mock drafts.
13:47 These are only for fans, okay?
13:48 These are only fans mock drafts and they might start as soon as next week.
13:54 Joking ever gets old.
13:55 Uh, if you want to be in the only
13:57 fans mock draft email Dave Richard at drichard@cbs.com.
14:04 Which is really we have about 10 email addresses that work.
14:07 We have a lot of email addresses.
14:08 And this is I cannot believe he uses this one, but That is crazy.
14:13 He's not using that.
14:14 Well, maybe he wants to separate the real like from the work game.
14:18 Go to the same box, I think.
14:19 But anyway, drichard@cbs.com uh,
14:23 if you want to be in this mock draft that's for fans only.
14:27 We'll be right back with rookie thoughts on FFT meets Beyond
14:33 the Box Score meets The Flintstones meets The Jetsons after this.
14:43 Gamebred is in the building.
14:48 Chris Weidman.
14:51 [music] Dean Thomas.
14:52 Are you ready?
14:53 Oh, boy.
14:53 This one is going to be crazy.
14:57 [music] Let's get into schemes here.
15:02 Which first round pick is a good fit for his team's offense, Dan Schneier?
15:06 Well, let me first start.
15:08 First round rookie pick or first round NFL Draft pick?
15:11 NFL Draft pick.
15:12 Oh, NFL Draft He's talking rookie drafts.
15:14 Adam does not like those.
15:15 Come on, man.
15:15 That's a good point.
15:16 That's a good point.
15:17 I need to start this little dialogue by saying I wouldn't
15:20 be doing my job as Plug God if I didn't say, please do us a favor.
15:23 Go on to YouTube, type in Fantasy Football Today Beyond the Box Score,
15:27 just immediately hit subscribe to our show, Jacob and I.
15:29 We really need help growing the numbers.
15:31 You guys can help us do this.
15:32 It means a lot.
15:33 If you hit like on every show and comment,
15:35 that's also helpful, but please subscribe.
15:37 Help us get it up.
15:37 Help us get it through the algorithm and into the people's heads.
15:41 All right, that's time that I I got my little time there.
15:45 Best first round rookie draft pick or non-rookie draft pick,
15:48 just first round pick that I like, Jordan Addison for me.
15:52 He's number one for me as far as the fit goes.
15:54 I know a lot of people have questioned it.
15:55 People have said, oh, what's the ceiling here with Chris Olave on the roster?
15:59 Is it possible for him to out-target Olave?
16:01 I think the answer is yes.
16:02 As good as Olave was,
16:03 I still think the answer is yes because for what Kellen Moore wants
16:06 to do a lot of quick game and win over the middle of the field,
16:10 something I think Tyler Scott can do, but needs to still take a jump at.
16:13 Like to me, Scott was at his best last year throwing outside the numbers.
16:17 He can and showed some glimpses of throwing inside the numbers,
16:20 but that's going to be something that has
16:21 to take a step forward with timing, with rapport.
16:23 That's where Addison can win.
16:25 And I think that's where Addison will win and I think there
16:27 is upside for him to out-target
16:28 and potentially out-produce from a reception standpoint,
16:31 maybe not a yards or possibly touchdown standpoint Olave this year.
16:35 So, I love the fit in the scheme and I love
16:37 the fit for him to get a lot of targets there.
16:40 Jacob, your answer?
16:40 Best fit for a first round pick?
16:43 That was incredible.
16:44 Um, Got to get the plug in.
16:47 [laughter] I'll go Jahmyr Gibbs.
16:48 I've got some concerns about Price as well, uh,
16:49 but the fit is pretty clear here, I think,
16:51 as the Kenneth Walker replacement essentially, um,
16:58 coming in as the explosive back who can
17:00 read out some of these outside zone runs,
17:01 inside zone runs as well, and find holes to uh,
17:05 to bounce outside and he's he's tough to bring
17:07 down once he gets ahead of steam rolling.
17:10 Um, so I think he's going to be pretty effective for them on the ground.
17:13 Jamie, any thoughts?
17:15 I love the Price call.
17:16 I mean, I'm not that the Addison call is uh,
17:18 bad by any stretch, but I mean, it's not just and and you know,
17:22 from a from a scheme standpoint,
17:24 obviously he he can do the things that Ken Walker does from a touch standpoint.
17:28 I mean, there's 400 some odd vacated touches with Walker and Charbonnet injured.
17:32 You know, Walker gone and Charbonnet injured.
17:34 And so, it's going to be sort of fascinating to see which of the two backups,
17:38 you know, which prior to the draft could have been the starters, but you know,
17:40 DeeJay Dallas and Emanuel Wilson, you know,
17:41 help in in working with Price who clearly as we've,
17:45 you know, seen and and discussed many times since
17:48 the draft not a full-time guy at Notre Dame.
17:52 You know, can he handle that workload and be
17:54 that type of guy because if he does,
17:56 you know, as as Jacob said, I think it might have been off the air,
17:58 but um, you know, you're you're talking
18:00 about the things that change right now versus
18:03 August and we get those August reports about he's going to be the full-time guy.
18:07 He's going to be the featured guy.
18:08 We're going to use him more in the passing game than than he did at Notre Dame.
18:11 And all these things, these positive reports.
18:13 Like Jahmyr Gibbs, we what did he go?
18:15 Sixth round in the draft we did on Tuesday?
18:17 Like we could be looking at a round four or, you know,
18:20 if it's steamed up too much a round three pick, you know,
18:22 just based on the excitement when you start to talk about those running backs,
18:25 you know, 15 through 25 in a lot of people's rankings and ADP.
18:29 So, Price is is one of the more fascinating high-end rookies just based
18:34 on where he landed and what his potential could be in that offense.
18:38 Uh, Dan, what do you make of Jahmyr Gibbs
18:41 only having 15 catches in three seasons at Notre Dame?
18:45 And what do you think about his pass-catching potential in the NFL?
18:49 It's a big flaw in his overall profile.
18:52 I remember Jacob and I going over this pre-draft and it was a concern.
18:55 I think, you know, we've seen some guys evolve to some extent.
18:59 Like Jonathan Taylor, I think had what at Wisconsin?
19:01 In that range of 15 total catches,
19:03 something poor like that, and has evolved his game
19:06 so much at the NFL level from a receiving standpoint.
19:08 Though, I still feel like he's mostly just used on design passing game touches.
19:11 I don't think Price will ever be like that route winner
19:13 or the guy that becomes a big focal point of the passing game.
19:16 You're going to have to win with him in the red zone.
19:18 You're going to have to win with him
19:18 with explosive plays and just being in a good offense.
19:21 Those are question marks for me, a lot of those, honestly.
19:24 I don't know for sure if he's going to have
19:25 the red zone role even before Charbonnet gets back.
19:28 I don't know how explosive that offense is going to be.
19:31 Um, it was good last year.
19:32 It was efficient last year.
19:34 Um, we'll see.
19:35 They're they've taken steps on the O-line that I like.
19:37 Obviously, Gray Gable wasn't an amazing draft pick last year.
19:39 But, I I think there's some incomplete aspect.
19:41 Like if Jamie's right, and I think he will be,
19:43 by the way, that he just gets steamed up.
19:45 Like I I think it could be round three,
19:47 like pushing because if people are looking at the board and just being like,
19:51 well, he's the lead back on Seattle, Charbonnet is not back until week eight.
19:54 All I'm competing against is Olani and Emanuel Wilson.
19:57 People aren't going to really give them the credit
19:58 and respect in my mind that the coaching staff might be.
20:02 So, it's going to kind of look on paper like, wow,
20:04 this guy is a clear lead back role on the Seattle Seahawks.
20:08 Why are we drafting some kind of, you know, some time share guys over him?
20:11 So, I think he'll probably get steamed up to a point where it doesn't add
20:15 up with the profile from the receiving
20:16 standpoint or from kind of the upside standpoint.
20:19 Just just real quick.
20:20 Just you know, I went to the combine for a few years.
20:22 It was the Ken Walker class.
20:24 Speaking to Ken Walker, his his, you know,
20:26 cat past catching potential was also questioned.
20:29 Um I believe Where was he before Michigan State?
20:33 Wherever he was, he was a little bit more
20:35 involved in his first stint in college as a receiver.
20:39 He was He was in ACC I was thinking Wake Forest.
20:43 I don't but I don't know if that's right.
20:44 It was Wake Forest.
20:46 Oh, it was.
20:46 Wow, what a call.
20:48 I remember that was a conversation, you know, Ken 19 catches, Jamie.
20:51 Ken Walker had 19 catches in college in 3 years.
20:54 Yeah, it was it was a story because Ryan Wilson likes to tell the joke.
20:59 Walker was Ryan's number one running back
21:01 that year and most people like Breece Hall
21:04 better and we were on set with both of them and I I said to Breece,
21:08 I go, hey, this guy has you number two.
21:09 What would you say to him?
21:10 Breece gave me a look of death.
21:12 That's awesome.
21:14 Uh and Ryan likes to remind me of that all the time.
21:16 I just went back and looked at D'Onta Foreman in high school,
21:19 uh his junior and senior year,
21:21 he had 28 catches in his junior in 11 games and 27 catches in his senior year.
21:26 So, if he can be a 25 catch guy, which I think is realistic,
21:30 not necessarily hard to do if he's a full-time guy,
21:32 like that just gives him a little bit more of a bump and then
21:34 anything on top of that, like if he can get into the 30 range,
21:37 like then we are talking about a guy that could significantly outperform what
21:41 his ADP at least is right now or is setting up to be.
21:43 Yeah, but Jamie, in high school, uh 35% of his catches came in one game against
21:49 a team that was that gave up a ton of [laughter] The heck is that from?
21:56 No, I'm just giving like a crazy stupid made up stat.
21:59 Okay, uh second question here, which We also have just just to put
22:03 in perspective a a new play caller in Seattle.
22:06 So, Right.
22:06 you know, run game coordinator from San Francisco.
22:09 Obviously like to throw to their backs, so we'll see if that matters, too.
22:12 Yeah.
22:13 Which first round rookie is a bad fit for his team's offense, Jacob?
22:18 Um I have not thought about this at all.
22:20 Let me Let me think about this for a moment.
22:22 Hopefully nobody.
22:24 I think people would point towards LeMieux,
22:26 um but I what I would say just because Hurts is
22:29 like league low in terms of targeting the middle of the field,
22:31 but I do think that LeMieux could do a lot
22:32 more than just the slot stuff that he's done.
22:35 And if you look at the GM and the coach speak,
22:38 they both point towards that a lot that he
22:40 can beat all sorts of different coverage types,
22:42 work from the inside and the outside.
22:44 Um and then also we have a new play caller in Philadelphia.
22:47 So, maybe we do see Hurts's game expanded a little bit.
22:51 Um but in terms of just like on paper,
22:53 the fit there probably feels the most awkward of the round one guys.
22:58 Yeah.
22:59 For me, it's definitely LeMieux.
23:00 I mean, look, I have a little bit more faith in both LeMieux and Sours.
23:03 I saw some I thought it was a great discussion
23:06 with um Matt Harmon and Nate Tice where they're saying like,
23:09 these guys are also like, yeah, they win on in-breaking routes.
23:12 They also can win with the quick out-breaking routes.
23:14 And that's again an area of the field
23:15 Hurts has been a little bit better targeting.
23:18 Um I still have question marks there.
23:19 I mean, I just flashbacks to last year's Thursday night football game
23:22 against the Giants where he tried in the red zone to throw
23:24 an out-breaker and Cordell Flott jumped it for a pick six and it
23:26 was really telegraphed and it was really bad velocity throw behind the receiver.
23:30 So, I I don't necessarily know if he any of their game fits Hurts,
23:34 but that's a problem that any receiver was going
23:36 to join the Eagles was going to have for me.
23:40 Uh okay.
23:41 Let me throw out a uh I'm throwing out this one.
23:45 Do we think that Jeremiah Love might be a bad fit for a team
23:49 that has three legit pass catching pass catching options already and I mean,
23:57 I think a lot of people consider them to have a bad offensive line.
24:00 The Cardinals did draft an offensive lineman with their second round pick.
24:05 Um ESPN's run block win rate had them at 15, but PFF had them at 29.
24:11 So, I never know what to believe there.
24:12 Right.
24:13 But I feel like Jeremiah Love's going to have to be involved,
24:18 Jamie, in the passing game to a pretty good degree.
24:20 I mean, I I think we need I think they need to use
24:22 him that way cuz he's he can be really good that way.
24:25 Um but yeah, I mean,
24:27 considering they have arguably the best tight end and these two
24:30 wide receivers who looked good last year at times,
24:33 is it going to be enough for him?
24:35 Is it Is he a bad fit for Arizona?
24:38 I don't I mean, look, it's not the most ideal fit,
24:40 you know, especially if they're going to keep everybody on their depth chart.
24:43 So, you know, it's not just that they have those three pass catchers.
24:46 They have James Conner who also can do that.
24:49 They have Trey Benson who I think can still potentially be involved in that.
24:53 I don't think there's going to be Tyler Allgeier,
24:55 but um it really comes down to for me like who's going to be the quarterback.
24:59 If it's Carson Beck and you're asking him to support all of these guys,
25:02 then I'm going to be terrified.
25:04 You know, if it's obviously Jacoby Brissett or even Gardner Minshew, you know,
25:08 guys who have had success in this type of situation, you know,
25:11 bad teams having to throw a lot, having to play sort of um you know,
25:16 this heroic style of football late in games, then I think it's going to be fine.
25:20 It's just really comes down to like any team that he
25:22 was going to go to, he was going to make better.
25:24 Any any situation that he was going to go to, they were going to feature him.
25:28 Is this the the the type of offense, you know, again,
25:30 it's it's a new play caller, it's uh you know, new coach.
25:34 Um so, we'll we'll see how this is.
25:36 But you know, when you see the investment,
25:38 knowing that they had so many holes to fill and they go out and they just say,
25:41 we're taking what we consider to be the best player in this draft,
25:44 best player at third overall,
25:47 I think that just speaks volumes to how much they're going to use him.
25:49 So, it really comes down to for what we do is
25:53 how much of an investment do you want to make in him?
25:55 And I think where he went in our draft on Tuesday was perfect.
25:58 Early round three, you know, went in that mix of running backs of you know,
26:02 right after D'Onta Foreman and Hampton,
26:04 uh behind Chase Brown, you know, you can argue the Josh Jacobs pick,
26:08 you know, where where that went, uh Jacobs falling in the draft.
26:11 Um but around those guys, Ken Walker, all all that group of running backs.
26:15 Like I Derrick Henry,
26:16 like I I think you just put him
26:17 in that in that second back half of round one, that's appropriate.
26:22 So, ideal landing spot, ideal situation, ideal offense, probably not on paper,
26:28 but I don't think that matters for a talent like him.
26:30 I think his, you know,
26:31 his performance will speak for itself if he gets enough work.
26:34 For what it's worth,
26:34 Matt LaFleur offenses have not thrown to the running back position very much.
26:38 Um Breece Hall's lowest target total came in his rookie
26:40 season and that was his lowest per game total,
26:43 too, other than last year, which was obviously just a mess with the Jets.
26:46 And that's the most that LaFleur offense has thrown to the running back
26:49 position in terms of like a a running back in their targets per game,
26:52 4.4 targets per game for Breece Hall that year.
26:55 Uh then it's Kyren Williams at four targets per game and that's back
26:58 in 2023 and no other running back has had more than that in this offense.
27:01 It does feel a little bit awkward,
27:03 the Arizona fit with him and McBride and the receivers.
27:05 Yeah.
27:06 All right.
27:07 Maybe my last question about the day one guys.
27:10 Which rookie Jacob, I'll go to you first.
27:12 Which rookie should be drafted second in redraft leagues?
27:15 Jeremiah Love is going to be first.
27:17 The draft we did the other day,
27:18 I believe Carnell Tate was second, but we thought maybe Price would be.
27:22 Who do you think should be drafted second among the rookies?
27:26 I would probably go with Tyson.
27:28 Um I think that he has the most upside.
27:30 Uh Price does scare me for a lot of reasons.
27:32 So, if you do want to check out these individual profiles,
27:33 I have them beyond the box scores, a bunch of research.
27:36 And he would have to be like Nick Chubb level good, I think,
27:38 to be a fantasy contributor within the parameters
27:42 that we have for what he looks like on paper,
27:44 which is a running back who really struggles in short
27:45 yardage situations and isn't much of a passing downs contributor.
27:50 Um I think that it might sound silly,
27:51 but Emanuel Wilson is really really solid at those two things.
27:54 He's a success rate machine.
27:56 Um and he's a good pass protector, big body.
27:58 So, I think he'll probably be splitting
28:00 early and then Zach Charbonnet is looming.
28:03 There's obviously upside with him, but there's upside with Tyson, too.
28:06 I think the fit is really really perfect there and Kellen Moore
28:08 is just the exact type of offensive coordinator to get Tyson a lot
28:11 of free releases where he's moving around before the snap and finding perfect
28:15 ways to strain defenses and create space for Tyson to win one-on-one matchups,
28:20 which is what he's very good at.
28:21 What he's not good at is like winning off of the line,
28:23 getting physical with players, winning through the catch point.
28:26 He needs space.
28:27 And I think he's in a perfect situation here with the Saints.
28:29 So, that that's probably who I would lean towards.
28:31 Although, I haven't done I've only done positional rankings.
28:33 I haven't done overall rankings yet.
28:35 Okay.
28:35 Dan, same question.
28:36 Which rookie should be drafted second in redraft leagues?
28:38 Yeah, I actually just had this decision sort of.
28:40 I mean, it was Love them and Dosa.
28:42 It was superflex, but I had the same decision.
28:44 It's not like I was going to take Ty Simpson at three.
28:46 I took Tyson.
28:47 I feel very similarly.
28:48 Jacob outlined a great case for him.
28:51 Wow.
28:51 Okay.
28:53 Uh You did in the rookie draft?
28:55 In a in a dynasty rookie.
28:56 Yeah, yeah.
28:57 He he I'm asking for redraft.
28:58 Redraft.
28:58 I'm asking for redraft.
29:00 Oh, um the answer would still be Tyson for me.
29:02 I I I'm not very I'm not as high on this Carnell Tate Titans situation.
29:06 I think look, Kim Ward has an explosive arm and he's
29:09 really good off script and he's really good at the intermediate level,
29:12 which could be great for for Tate.
29:14 I think he, if you look at the numbers
29:15 dating back to even his last season at Miami,
29:17 he struggled with vertical throws, the 20-plus yard air throws,
29:20 the ball placement, the accuracy numbers.
29:22 It was all down at Miami and down in his first season with the Titans.
29:26 It was.
29:28 Um but I do think he's a good fit in that inter- intermediate range, you know.
29:32 good in the intermediate range, but I think that offense could devolve
29:34 very quickly into Wan'Dale Robinson 150 targets.
29:38 Kellen Moore's been so good for fantasy.
29:40 I feel like that's just such an easy one to bet on.
29:41 There could be an injury or something with Tyson, but Kellen Moore,
29:43 man, has just like put together fantasy juggernauts over and over and over.
29:47 and particularly he's been really good at like using the slot.
29:50 Like he's produced more PPR points from the slot
29:53 in Keenan Allen seasons and CeeDee Lamb
29:56 seasons than we've ever seen before and I
29:58 don't it's not fair to Tyson to be like,
30:00 oh he's going to be Keenan Allen or CeeDee Lamb,
30:01 but those are two guys who are like actually kind of does move a little
30:04 bit like them before the catch in terms
30:06 of the quickness laterally and stuff like that.
30:07 Both those guys came to mind for me
30:08 and Dan when we watched a bunch of Tyson film.
30:10 Like it's such a good fit.
30:11 Yeah.
30:12 Cool.
30:13 Uh let's get in some rookie gems.
30:15 So, we've heard a lot over the last few weeks about you know,
30:19 before the draft and after the draft about the round
30:21 one guys certainly we've we've hammered that point home.
30:24 But how about after that?
30:26 Um Jacob, I'm going to let you start.
30:28 Who do you want to highlight here and and let's frame it appropriately.
30:31 We're not saying that you need to draft these guys in redraft leagues.
30:34 We're saying we like these players.
30:36 If something breaks right, they could have a a nice fantasy impact.
30:39 I won't put words in your mouth.
30:40 How do you want to frame these rookie gems and then
30:43 you can talk about whoever you want to talk about.
30:45 Yeah, so we've gone like super super off the deep end
30:48 sicko picks over the past couple of years with these rookie gems.
30:51 I look back at last year's answers and it
30:53 was like basically everyone was round four through seven.
30:56 I'm going to cheat a little bit here cuz I you know,
30:58 this class is maybe not as good relatively
31:01 speaking and Adam wanted some like more relevant players.
31:05 So, I'm going to go with a round three pick early round three pick.
31:07 I really like Antoine Wesley game.
31:10 He's a slot receiver mostly,
31:11 but I do think he can win on the outside and if you read the coach speak,
31:16 the GM speak on this guy, they love him to death.
31:20 I really like his game,
31:21 but I think that he's kind of like the Elijah Moore type of profile
31:24 where it's like really really good winner from the inside or kind of moving.
31:28 It seems like the NFL's kind of moving
31:29 in the direction where that kind of player
31:31 doesn't matter as much and so I was like unless he gets a perfect fit,
31:34 I'm probably not going to care about him for fantasy.
31:37 And then he goes to a team that really seems to value all of the skills
31:39 that he brings and thinks that he has
31:41 the toughness to play in two receiver sets as well.
31:43 They really talked about his blocking, his ability to win over the middle,
31:46 his fearlessness over the middle in terms of taking hits.
31:49 They they think he's a bigger,
31:50 more physical presence than the typical slot receiver archetype.
31:54 I feel so good about Williams with the caveat
31:58 that like to Adam's point about drafting rookie drafts too early,
32:02 we could easily see Brandon Aiyuk, Stefon Diggs, Jauan Jennings,
32:04 somebody like that come in here and change the equation a little bit,
32:08 but as it currently stands,
32:09 he's in an offense with a really good quarterback with a new play caller
32:12 who could open some things up in terms of play action and stuff like
32:15 that to boost efficiency and no clear
32:17 target hog and really no other target presence
32:20 behind Terry McLaurin who's kind of always
32:22 topped out of that 22% target share range.
32:25 So, things look great for him for fantasy purposes
32:28 and I actually did like the film and data evaluation.
32:31 I just didn't know how it translate,
32:32 but now that he's in a good spot, I feel really good about it.
32:35 It's so hard to get one in rookie drafts now.
32:37 It's it's you know.
32:39 I I I think when you start to get past like the 10th,
32:42 11th pick like Even where it gets worse even at eight,
32:45 I feel like it just gets bought.
32:46 That's fair.
32:46 You know, I I you know,
32:49 there's just you look for a fit, you look for opportunity.
32:51 I think Jacob said it best like this could be
32:53 one where we get screwed over a little bit for 2026.
32:57 But McLaurin's 29.
32:58 Right.
32:59 You could certainly see a situation where
33:01 they're done with him and whoever they add, whether it's you know,
33:04 Jennings or Diggs or Aiyuk or you know, shockingly maybe Tyreek Hill, you know,
33:08 all these older receivers that are not going to be around very long.
33:11 So, it could be a great situation for Williams even if
33:13 he doesn't necessarily have that type of production his rookie season.
33:17 Yeah, looking at the draft grades on our draft tracker,
33:19 this one got an A+ from Mike Renner.
33:21 Antonio Williams going to the Commanders early in the third round.
33:25 We are going to take a break and get more
33:27 rookie gems when we come back on Fantasy Football Today.
33:30 You need a hug?
33:31 You need a fist?
33:34 Crutch, crutch, crutch.
33:35 Crutch, crutch.
33:37 Crutch, you need anything.
33:38 I do have one question.
33:40 We didn't mean right now.
33:43 [music] Okay, Dan, you're up.
33:48 All right, keeping with the theme of trying to find not so deep gems for now.
33:52 Started off with the less deep ones
33:54 and players who might actually impact redraft right away.
33:57 I'm going to go with a player who I think is down on some people's boards.
34:00 He's all the way up at nine for me overall in my dynasty rankings.
34:05 And that's DeShawn Shivers, the wide receiver from the 49ers.
34:07 They made a much earlier draft pick than people expected.
34:10 Looked into Shivers more after the draft.
34:12 Saw a little bit of him pre-draft.
34:14 Um When when I watched him,
34:16 there was it like wasn't the most complete wide receiver profile.
34:19 I wasn't a huge fan of him.
34:20 But when he was drafted to the 49ers, like this is exactly where he needs to be.
34:24 It's the exact profile that I think will win in that type
34:27 of scheme and that type of system that Shanahan runs.
34:29 It's the ability to win on overs and win with the ball after the catch.
34:33 This is exactly the type of receiver they've drafted and they've
34:36 had success with in a Brandon Aiyuk mold to me.
34:39 Just that ability, I think at one point
34:40 he reached 23 mph last season post catch.
34:43 Shivers one of the fastest if not the fastest speeds of any receiver.
34:46 It's what they're looking for.
34:47 Somebody to run the overs off the play action, catch the ball,
34:50 have Purdy time it up perfectly the way Purdy does.
34:52 And then once he's in space, he'll do the rest.
34:54 And so, the fit's awesome.
34:56 I think he'll get on the field early because
34:57 he can block better much better than Ricky Pearsall.
35:00 Heck, he can block probably immediately better
35:03 than almost every receiver on that team,
35:04 especially if they don't resign Jauan Jennings.
35:06 So, essentially I feel like they'll just
35:08 use him like Jennings they use Jennings.
35:10 So, I don't really understand any
35:11 of the drawback with Shivers outside of the age,
35:13 the lack of production profile.
35:15 Um obviously coming from a team where production wasn't easy at college
35:18 and a system and scheme and quarterback play where it wasn't easy.
35:21 Age is definitely a factor.
35:22 He's not like the loosest receiver out there.
35:24 He's not it's not like watching Jordan Tyson run routes.
35:26 But I don't think it needs to be.
35:28 I don't think Deebo Samuel was the greatest route runner ever
35:30 either with San Francisco and he was uber productive there as well.
35:34 So, the blocking will get him on the field early.
35:36 The post catch explosion will make it fun in fantasy.
35:38 Very high on Shivers.
35:41 Yeah, Shivers is 6'2" and he ran a 4.36 40.
35:47 And I looked at the list of guys that were
35:49 6'2" and I don't know if I 6'2" or higher,
35:52 probably 6'2" or higher or taller and ran he
35:56 ran a 4.36 I put a 4.38 40 or better.
35:59 And you get guys like you know, back in the day Calvin Johnson,
36:02 Julio Jones, but more recently DK Metcalf, Brian Thomas Jr., Christian Watson.
36:07 Then you get DJ Chark,
36:08 Adonai Mitchell and it's a list of guys with high A dots for the most part.
36:12 So, my fear with Shivers who was taken really early in the second round.
36:16 I mean kind of like when we'd be very interested in a wide receiver,
36:19 it just seemed like a huge reach is
36:21 that he just becomes what are we calling it now?
36:24 The sacrificial X?
36:26 The the deep ball guy cuz these these big in that offense though.
36:30 That's not how that offense operates, Sam.
36:32 kind of did with Pearsall last year.
36:34 And it was really bothering me with Pearsall.
36:36 Pearsall's a very different player though, yeah.
36:38 And now he is.
36:39 He shouldn't be used that way.
36:41 I agree, yeah.
36:42 And now they have Evans.
36:44 Um you know, maybe they use Evans that way.
36:46 I don't know, but Shivers I just hope
36:48 he doesn't become a deep ball guy basically.
36:50 He didn't he did not catch caught 14 deep balls in 56 career games in college.
36:57 I don't really know what to make of him,
36:58 but I think the the the fun thing about Kyle Shanahan
37:01 is that he's one of the best at evolving his you know,
37:04 his profile a little bit, you know,
37:05 and using what works best for him at that time and you know,
37:08 you've seen different versions of this, you know, the Deebo Samuel run offense,
37:12 the Christian McCaffrey run offense, you know, how George Kittle has you know,
37:15 evolved from I don't want to say just a red zone threat,
37:18 but you know, clearly his game continues to you know, keep improving.
37:22 And so, you know, he he caters to his personnel.
37:24 He's obviously had to cater to what Brock Purdy has done based on what he
37:27 had with Jimmy Garoppolo and what they thought
37:29 they were going to get with Trey Lance.
37:30 And so, now you're adding a Hall of Fame guy in Mike Evans.
37:34 You're adding you know,
37:35 a guy that a lot of people think they reach for clearly in in Shivers,
37:38 but his game may fit to what this offense needs.
37:42 You know, we haven't seen what really Ricky Pearsall can
37:45 do because he's been injured so much and you know,
37:47 had a lot of missed time in in the preseason process,
37:51 you know, with the gunshot wound and and some injuries last year.
37:53 So, like this is and now you have
37:55 Kittle coming off an Achilles injury, you know,
37:56 so there there's a lot of moving parts
37:58 again for San Francisco with a 30-year-old running back.
38:00 Like this this is one of these guys I think
38:03 in Shivers that he and and I think Williams too, you know,
38:07 we had the comment in the chat like we're going to look
38:08 back on this and say this was like the Amon-Ra St.
38:10 Brown.
38:11 Um I I think when you look at these these guys like these are
38:15 good fits for either opportunity or role or both or or system or both.
38:19 Like he could be he could be fascinating, you know,
38:22 just based on an injury or even just a year
38:25 away when Evans is 33 and he leaves the team.
38:29 Like this could be a big piece of what
38:30 San Francisco and Kyle Shanahan do assuming Shanahan's still there.
38:33 Can I throw out an old school Shanahan
38:35 comp and get your opinion on this for Shivers?
38:38 Uh somebody who had success with them
38:39 in Washington and San Francisco was Pierre Garçon.
38:42 Oh, Garçon.
38:44 I think Garçon could do a little bit more as a route runner,
38:47 um but a deep ball guy who could also do some of the short stuff,
38:50 could move into the slot a little bit,
38:51 had a little bit of YAC, um was just really tough.
38:54 Uh I've been trying to figure out like who
38:56 he reminds me of from Shanahan receivers and I was
38:58 thinking of like Jauan Jennings and Kendrick Bourne and players
39:02 like that, but I'm like he's just way faster, way more athletic than those guys.
39:06 And then Garçon's who I kind of landed on.
39:07 In terms of recent recent players,
39:10 I feel like Romeo Doubs is who I've been throwing out to people
39:12 where it's like the Doubs track kind of where it's like typically this kind
39:15 of player in terms of the way that they win as an NFL
39:18 player doesn't often get a lot of targets or be that meaningful for fantasy,
39:23 but I do think he's better than Doubs.
39:24 I think he's a little bit more physical.
39:26 He's faster, has I think better feel for like
39:30 space after the catch and stuff like that.
39:31 So, maybe you can expand on that a little
39:33 bit and he's in a maybe a better offense, too.
39:35 Okay.
39:36 Yeah.
39:37 All right, um Jacob, you're back on the clock with another rookie gem.
39:41 [snorts] Yeah, so I like the Shivers call out,
39:42 but he's not somebody I would go to because I guess
39:44 I think I have a hard time seeing the ultimate upside.
39:46 Is he ever going to be like a target hog type of player?
39:49 Um and so that's I I'm I'm taking bigger swings here with like Antonio Williams
39:54 where I think he could be somebody who gets like a a target share above 20%.
39:58 And so the other guy who from me for me
39:59 from this class stands out in that way is Chris Bell in Miami.
40:03 It would be a wait-and-see thing.
40:04 I doubt that we'll see a bunch of him early in the year.
40:07 Um but Louisville receiver Chris Bell awesome awesome on film.
40:11 Um in his fourth season there really broke out
40:13 in a huge way and could have had a lot more.
40:14 The quarterback play was I mean if you watch it,
40:16 you see Chris Bell like throwing his hands up all
40:18 the time making [laughter] kind of showing his quarterback up.
40:20 So we'll see if that uh translates to the pros,
40:23 but Who cares about the character?
40:25 Yeah, that that only that only adds to the A.J.
40:27 Brown comparisons, which are pretty clear.
40:29 Like when you watch him in the collegiate level,
40:30 it's like that literally looks like A.J.
40:32 Brown out here against college guys.
40:33 Um and he's he's a more refined player I think than
40:36 you would expect given the archetype of like big physical guy,
40:39 but he didn't break out until year four.
40:41 I think he's a much better version of like the Xavier Legette type
40:44 of players that we've seen come
40:45 in recently where they're big athletic presences,
40:47 but they didn't break out until late.
40:49 And why is that?
40:50 And then you watch them at the NFL level and like, "Oh,
40:52 there's a there's a lot of reasons why." Uh I think
40:54 this guy can can win at the top of his routes
40:56 and that win coming back to the ball with physicality
40:59 and then can win with the ball in his hands as well.
41:01 So in a Miami offense that really doesn't have anyone like that at all,
41:05 uh he's pretty intriguing late in the year.
41:07 Yeah, I'm probably going to take Chris Bell over Stribling.
41:11 I probably will have this decision to make when I
41:13 pick 11th and 12th in our stupid dynasty league, which sucks.
41:17 But uh why does the dynasty league suck?
41:19 Because your team is so bad in it.
41:21 That's not a fair way to go about it.
41:24 [laughter] I know.
41:24 way better.
41:25 What was the uh Malik Nabers trade again?
41:27 Uh so I gave I traded Malik Nabers for uh
41:30 some pop a bag of popcorn and uh What was it?
41:35 Why didn't you come to people like a There's a Giants fan in the league.
41:37 You didn't even give him a chance to match the offer.
41:39 was the case.
41:40 You you don't even know you don't even know you don't You can text me, Adam.
41:42 We text all the time about nonsense.
41:44 [laughter] You can text me about something important like I'm trading Nabers.
41:46 He's on the block.
41:47 It's a top dynasty player, like a top 20 dynasty player.
41:51 It can you beat this offer?
41:52 And I might have beaten it, honestly.
41:53 What was it again?
41:54 No, it doesn't matter what it was.
41:55 I don't want to talk want to know what you got for Nabers.
41:58 I don't want to talk about it and to know, Jamie.
42:00 What Now it's relevant.
42:01 Like now we're in the rookie draft.
42:02 Jamie, what was it?
42:03 Listen.
42:04 How bad was it?
42:05 to talk about it.
42:06 Chris Bell um yeah, we we like Chris Bell.
42:09 I think the Dolphins situation's fascinating.
42:11 They drafted three wide receivers.
42:13 Bell may not play much this year.
42:15 If I'm Miami, I almost give him a redshirt
42:16 year because this not going to matter very much
42:18 and want to make sure this guy's healthy cuz
42:20 he might be very relevant for them in the future.
42:23 I I think Caleb Douglas uh you know, I was talking to Pete Prisco about him.
42:28 He said a lot of people in the league like him much
42:30 more than the draftnik people did based on where their rankings were.
42:33 So like he heard from a lot of people around the league
42:35 that the Dolphins got a very nice pick in in nice player in Douglas.
42:40 We'll see how that matters.
42:41 And then Kevin Coleman's another guy that's going to you know,
42:43 be potentially involved for them.
42:45 It's just like this receiving core
42:47 on paper could be absolutely disastrous, you know,
42:49 and all three of these rookies may matter when you're
42:51 talking about Jaelan Darden and Tutu Atwell and Malik Washington.
42:55 Like that's who these guys are competing with and they
42:57 could come in and be significant playmakers right away.
43:00 Okay, let's go to our next one, Dan.
43:04 [laughter] Who's your next pick?
43:05 Fortunately, I was just told what the trade was in the chat.
43:07 I have no idea when you did this, but it was just unbelievably bad.
43:10 Just recently, oh Oh, you want the trade?
43:13 I'll tell you what the trade is.
43:13 No, I don't care about the trade anymore.
43:15 Adam traded Malik Nabers,
43:17 one of the best players in dynasty overall, pretty much.
43:20 Uh-huh.
43:20 For Micah Wilson, who I actually like, but not to that extent.
43:23 A crappy 2026 one that he's going to do nothing with.
43:26 It's like Stribling or Yeah, okay.
43:28 We're muting him.
43:30 And then a two and a three.
43:31 All right, let me tell you my next pick.
43:33 two first-round picks and a two and a three.
43:36 One's a second first.
43:37 I hope in 2027.
43:38 No.
43:38 No, unfortunately, they they they're terrible now.
43:41 I mean, they I thought I didn't think this draft would be this bad.
43:45 is going to be so bad for so many years.
43:47 That dynasty team.
43:48 Oh my god.
43:49 It already is.
43:50 It already is, my friend.
43:51 All right, This is the this is the this is the curse of Darnell Mooney for you.
43:54 All right, let's go a little faster here.
43:55 I want you guys to get more points.
43:57 Okay, okay.
43:57 Let me get to my next one.
43:58 It's one of my favorite bets in this entire class
44:01 before the draft and I don't mind the landing spot.
44:03 It's Head Hurst, the wide receiver out of Georgia State.
44:06 This guy is 6'4, 200 4 lbs, ran a 442,
44:11 and has a 32 almost 33-in arms and uses them well.
44:15 He's unbelievable at tracking the football on the vertical plane.
44:18 He can accelerate post-catch in ways that are exciting for someone who's 6'4.
44:22 He's the closest athletic comp and not athletic, I mean movement comp.
44:26 Somebody when I watch the tape, I see it.
44:28 To George Pickens that I've seen since George Pickens came to the NFL.
44:31 He's not George Pickens, but he has some aspects of his game that you
44:34 might say are maybe a little bit more intriguing.
44:36 The 442 speed, the post-catch burst.
44:39 He was a former no-star recruit and now he's
44:41 a NFL draft pick in round three to the Bucks,
44:43 a team that lost Mike Evans, has developed wide receivers in really good ways,
44:47 and has really scouted wide receivers well.
44:49 I thought Puka Nacua McMillan I thought was a good job scouting.
44:52 Tez Johnson was a good job scouting.
44:54 Understands the wide receiver position and how what to win.
44:57 His ability to kind of sink his hips at the top
44:59 of the routes is really uncanny for somebody who's 6'4 and 204 lbs.
45:04 I have a couple things I wanted to bring with him.
45:06 I mean, he's got production.
45:07 He had 34 catches of 20-plus yards.
45:09 That's obviously in FBS.
45:10 Um and so obviously it's not you know, you want to take that into account,
45:14 but this is what really stands out to me
45:16 as far as like getting the hype machine going.
45:18 Steve Smith, former NFL receiver,
45:20 said he has the ability and shows flashes of a {quote} "faster
45:23 Larry Fitzgerald." And then he went over the tape and he's like,
45:26 "This is what Fitz used to do." And he's like showing examples.
45:28 Greg Cosell, godfather of tape, said if this guy played at any
45:31 of the power five scores or power four conferences,
45:34 he would have been a first-round draft pick and I completely agree with him.
45:37 I don't mind the landing spot and I'm all in on Hurst.
45:39 All right, I have a question for you.
45:41 Movie movie trivia.
45:43 Yeah, I was going to say movie trivia.
45:45 Uh name the movie that this character is in.
45:48 Did I freeze again?
45:49 Olaf.
45:51 [laughter] I don't know, but I can't believe this is freezing again.
45:52 I just did so many things to fix this issue.
45:55 You don't know Olaf?
45:56 I don't know Olaf.
45:57 What's Olaf?
45:58 Elsa.
45:58 You were frozen the entire Why would I have ever seen Frozen?
46:01 I was frozen the entire time.
46:04 [laughter] So brutal.
46:05 I don't know what's happening.
46:06 He unfroze.
46:07 Literally, you're Thomas.
46:08 Thomas figured out.
46:10 I say do all the work.
46:11 The moment he stopped talking, he unfroze.
46:14 Yeah.
46:15 [laughter] Why?
46:16 Why?
46:18 Um I [snorts] love I love the Ted Hurst call-out.
46:20 Yeah.
46:21 Uh so so far Antonio Williams and Chris Bell from Jacob.
46:26 De'Shawn Stribling and Ted Hurst for Dan.
46:30 And uh Jacob, you're on the clock.
46:32 I've got lots of other receivers,
46:33 but let's get him let's get them a non-receiver.
46:35 I'm going to go with De'Montre Clayborn, Minnesota, round six.
46:38 Wide-open backfield potentially one where where there could be injuries.
46:41 Sorry, Dan.
46:42 It's okay.
46:42 Um KOC, love the offensive fit there and man,
46:45 the idea of him and Kyler Murray together
46:47 in the backfield potentially could be a lot of fun,
46:48 a lot of speed there for defenses to worry about.
46:51 That offensive line could be good at moments last year.
46:53 They looked really really good before they all got hurt.
46:55 Um and I really liked his film.
46:57 I think there's some receiving upside potentially,
47:00 but mostly you're looking for explosive plays.
47:02 So I think he's he's a really interesting guy that you're
47:04 going to get at the end of drafts for free,
47:07 um who could be worth the stash and could come on strong at some point.
47:11 And even though he's small,
47:13 he showed an ability to handle a lot of work up the middle,
47:15 handle multiple games of 20-plus touches at the collegiate level.
47:19 So I think there's there's some upside.
47:20 Probably Minnesota doesn't want him in that type of a role,
47:22 but there's some upside if need be that he could push into 10,
47:25 15, 20 touches in a game.
47:27 I wonder if I I I love the call.
47:29 I wonder if because this running back class is not very exciting,
47:34 at least not very exciting going in.
47:36 And you saw two guys in round one and then
47:39 just everybody sort of fall later in the draft, you know, Jonah Coleman, etc.
47:44 on the way down.
47:44 Keaontay Ingram, whatever.
47:46 Like you get a guy like Clayborn who and I and I
47:49 put sort of Keaontay Ingram in the same sort of category,
47:51 you know, these murky backfields or at least older potential for, you know,
47:55 immediate playing time.
47:57 Like these there there are a couple guys that you could see being relevant.
48:02 Now, will they be like Damien Pierce relevant for a year and then
48:05 they kind of get replaced because the next year's crop or, you know,
48:08 I'm not so well versed in the 2027 running back class,
48:11 but let's just say like there there's a deeper group and and a better group.
48:15 Um that there there's a short-term window.
48:17 So like Aaron Jones gets hurt, they don't want to give Jordan Mason
48:20 the full workload or they kind of, you know,
48:21 use Clayborn in tandem with Mason or maybe both get
48:24 hurt or in the case of Allen and Washington, you know,
48:26 he's competing with a seventh-round guy and Keaontay Ingram is
48:28 competing with more of a pass-catching guy in Rashad White.
48:30 Like we get Allen getting immediate touches.
48:33 Like I'm so curious about a couple of these situations.
48:35 Jonah Coleman, you know,
48:36 how they're going to use him in Denver with a limited, you know, draft capital.
48:40 They go and get a running back again.
48:42 And obviously Dobbins may not be there very long after this year.
48:45 So like Clayborn is is is fascinating.
48:48 You know, this is the type of guy, you know, again,
48:50 I traded my my third-round pick and and the pick was for for Clayborn.
48:54 Like that could be a guy by the time we get to August and, you know,
48:57 the non-fun people like Adam are doing their drafts.
48:59 Yeah.
49:00 And Clayborn has a a role based on what O'Connell's saying,
49:04 based on what the reports are.
49:05 Like he could be a round two pick, you know,
49:07 for a guy that's going around late round
49:09 two probably at the earliest in one-quarterback leagues,
49:11 but you know, most likely see him in in in the round three range.
49:14 In dynasty, of course, Jamie is talking about.
49:16 Correct.
49:16 Uh some news uh from Mike Garafolo.
49:19 Darius Slayton just recently underwent surgery for I have to sneeze.
49:23 Core muscle.
49:25 Uh damn it.
49:27 I lost it.
49:27 Um core muscle Uh Darius Slayton recently
49:32 underwent surgery for a core muscle injury.
49:34 He should be full go for training camp.
49:37 Um so now Dan's going to tell you why Malachi Fields is a rookie gem.
49:42 [laughter] No, he wouldn't be my next pick.
49:43 My next pick would be Emmett Johnson,
49:46 a running back out of Nebraska who I toyed with the idea pre-draft
49:49 of having as my RB2 overall just based on how good the tape was.
49:53 This is a player who I believe was docked
49:55 because he ran the 455 similar to me Bucky Irving
49:58 who has pretty much played out exactly the same not
50:00 similar players or prospects but played out exactly the same.
50:03 They both had good tape especially the ability to process
50:06 behind the line of scrimmage to understand and set
50:08 up blocks to make those quick cuts and get
50:10 in and out of spaces and get themselves in advantage situations.
50:14 But they both ran those high 45s and then both became day three draft picks.
50:18 With Johnson I feel like he doesn't have the same maybe
50:22 burst and explosiveness as Bucky but he definitely has the same make
50:25 you miss ability and definitely has the same processing and I
50:28 think he has an even better receiving profile coming out of Nebraska.
50:31 You watch that game tape and you see he was a big part of their offense.
50:34 I always say this any running backs you watch in college
50:36 that are a big part of the passing game and I don't
50:37 I mean just not getting like occasional dump downs or designed
50:40 screens literally they're designing aspects of their game plan for this player.
50:45 I believe they translate well from a receiving profile
50:47 to the next level and I look at that Chiefs
50:48 roster and I'm like yeah they signed Kenneth Walker
50:50 but Kenneth Walker's never been a massive workload guy
50:53 at any point in his career and he has
50:54 a major injury history and the Chiefs in recent years
50:58 not at all times but in recent years for sure
51:00 and most of Andy Reid's tenure have featured multiple backs.
51:03 I could potentially see Emmett Johnson stepping right into the Kareem Hunt
51:06 role and that Kareem Hunt role has been super fruitful for fantasy.
51:10 With Kareem Hunt operating it Emmett Johnson is just a better version
51:13 of what Kareem Hunt can offer on a snap for snap basis.
51:16 I don't know if necessarily he'll have the same red zone role that Hunt
51:18 had and that was a big factor in his fantasy value but I
51:22 don't necessarily know that he won't either so just a great player that I
51:25 liked on tape and I think the landing spot's better than people are expecting.
51:29 All right, let's get one more round here.
51:31 Jacob your last rookie gem for today's show.
51:34 Of course you can hear more on the on the box
51:35 score but this will be your fourth.
51:37 Go for it.
51:38 He's going deep for this one.
51:40 Braxton Thompson man he's electric.
51:42 He's so much fun and Mike Mike McDaniel was just absolutely fired up to get him.
51:48 Perfect perfect pairing there a team that needed some speed on the perimeter.
51:52 They've got some fast players but he's a true true deep
51:55 ball threat deep ball winner absolutely great ball tracking and hands.
52:00 Really really loved this guy's film.
52:01 I don't expect it to matter much in year one but I do think that he could
52:07 be one injury away and if he gets on the field he's going to make big plays.
52:10 They've already talked about wanting to get him on the field
52:12 as a returner and stuff like that and I
52:14 do think they'll occasionally get on the field just
52:16 to to threaten the defense because the speed is very very real.
52:19 He was just consistently toasting SEC corners last year at Mississippi
52:24 State averaged over three yards per route run and I think he
52:26 can do a little bit more beyond that too in terms
52:28 of like breaking his routes horizontally and winning to the sideline and stuff.
52:32 And so I'm really excited about the pairing with Justin Herbert and his ability
52:34 to throw with timing and throw with touch over the middle of the field.
52:38 If we get a chance to actually see Thompson get to play I think could be huge.
52:42 Who would you like better long term Trey Harris or Brennan?
52:47 I'll go with Trey Harris he seems more likely to matter
52:50 for fantasy purposes long term because he can do a number of things.
52:53 He's a bigger physical guy he can stay on the field because of his blocking.
52:56 They did invest a round two pick into him.
52:58 For Thompson it's like the the number of guys who play the way that he plays
53:03 and are at the weight that he is that have mattered is not a long one.
53:08 So I was intrigued because I loved his film so much
53:10 and then he gets the pairing with Herbert and McDaniel and everything
53:12 so it's like okay maybe he could be one of the outliers
53:15 that joins this group but he does have to be an outlier.
53:18 Yeah Brennan Thompson 5'9" 164 lbs couple guys
53:22 that were similar in size Marquise Brown and Tank Dell.
53:26 Brown had two seasons with about 1,100 yards at Oklahoma.
53:30 Dell had two seasons with more than 1,300 yards.
53:33 Thompson was at nearly as productive as best season last year 1,054 yards
53:40 and six touchdowns but his first three seasons he had a combined 503 yards.
53:44 So it didn't really work for him until he moved to Mississippi State.
53:47 Also we just had Dan with a frozen face was the best frozen face ever.
53:56 [laughter] That's awesome.
53:59 [clears throat] Thomas how did you do that so fast?
54:00 That was incredible.
54:01 Honestly.
54:03 I'm a big AI guy.
54:04 Yeah I got to get into AI.
54:06 Yeah do you know that movie?
54:08 That's isn't that just Game of Thrones or no
54:10 no no that's that's Jack Nicholson the shining.
54:13 Yeah wow.
54:15 Nice.
54:15 thought I'd get that.
54:16 What were the chances if you had to guess before I could snap
54:18 that off so fast what chances of me getting that were what were they?
54:21 Plus 600.
54:23 Yeah at a minimum.
54:23 Especially when you started with the Game of Thrones.
54:27 [laughter] Dan thinks everything is Game of Thrones.
54:30 All right Dan your last rookie gem.
54:34 [laughter] So how deep do we want to go?
54:35 I have three tiers here.
54:36 We can go through the deepest tier
54:38 the second deepest tier or the shallowest tier.
54:42 Uh If if we can and maybe this makes this decision easier at the end I'd
54:45 like to just rattle off some random names and just like just the name like keep
54:49 an eye on this guy like Jack Endries
54:52 for the you know Cincinnati Bengals round seven
54:55 tight end and stuff like that where it's
54:56 like I actually think he could play this year.
54:57 It's not a long list.
54:59 All right fine.
55:00 Also Dan said Jack Nicklaus instead of Jack Nicholson.
55:03 I I never heard it right either so I'm not
55:05 going to have too much golf going on in my brain.
55:08 Never get that right.
55:09 All right go ahead you pick one and then
55:10 we'll go rapid fire with the list after.
55:13 Okay I I don't that really didn't answer anything as far as
55:16 Just pick your favorite because we're going to be able to cover all of them so
55:19 just pick your favorite and then I'll be
55:19 like John Michael Gillenborg at the end you know.
55:22 Okay.
55:22 My favorite then will be Eli Rerdon the tight end the Patriots drafted.
55:25 This is just the absolute best landing spot for this player.
55:28 We were all talking pre-draft about he's got the length he's got
55:32 the traits to maybe run the seam and what team could actually use
55:35 him in this way and it's so Josh McDaniels like this is
55:39 not Rob Gronkowski but he's certainly
55:40 got closest thing to Rob Gronkowski's frame
55:43 that 6'7" lengthy body that McDaniels had to work with since Rob Gronkowski
55:47 and he's got some explosive traits and he has some moments on film
55:50 where you're like all right this guy is a big time receiving
55:52 profile but mostly he's got that blocking profile that will never go away.
55:56 You watch him block down on ends.
55:57 He'll be in for 90% of the snaps in no time in New England and when he's
56:01 on the field he could ultimately become a red zone
56:03 guy he could become a big seam stretcher for them.
56:06 He's got Drake May one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL
56:08 to me by far as far as throwing the football.
56:10 I don't even think it's close at this point.
56:12 There's only like a few guys in his tier as far as throwing the ball and keeping
56:15 an offense on time and racking up passing yards so it's an awesome fit for me
56:20 in all ways and I think the talent in the player is good held back a little
56:23 bit by the Notre Dame scheme by this quarterback
56:26 play even though they had Carr last year.
56:28 Just feel like this is a team that I mean
56:30 this is a player that could really shine in this situation.
56:34 Okay let's go rapid fire Jacob.
56:36 All right two guys for the Bengals just
56:39 good offense decent talents just the tight end Jack
56:41 Endries round seven and then Colby Young was
56:43 a favorite of Dan's really rangy athlete both worth knowing.
56:46 Four guys who could win the slot role for their offenses Zach Kumerow Branch
56:50 for the Falcons Jeremy Bernard for the Steelers
56:53 both really good with the ball in their hands.
56:56 Elijah Sorat is a favorite of Dan and mine.
56:58 And then Malachi Fields.
57:00 So Sorat's with Baltimore Fields is with the Giants those are two
57:02 bigger bodied guys that could get on the field and could you know
57:06 get you some get you some PPR points if need be if
57:08 something were to happen to the top receivers in their offense for example.
57:11 Ketron Allen was a really good call out we already talked about.
57:14 For Miami they've got Caleb Douglas and Kevin Coleman Jr.
57:17 are two rookies to know round three round five picks.
57:20 Kevin Coleman Jr.
57:21 is more of the manufactured touch type of slot player
57:23 like Malik Washington so I doubt that we see him much.
57:26 Caleb Douglas is kind of like Colby
57:28 Young bigger rangier athlete probably pretty raw.
57:30 I don't think either of them will probably matter but they are names to know.
57:33 Taylen Green is definitely a name to know
57:35 with all the ambiguity about what's going to happen
57:38 with the Cleveland Browns because if he gets on the field
57:40 he has the rushing upside to be fantasy relevant.
57:43 And then I also think Oscar Delp is a really good
57:45 call out I'll end with him for the New Orleans Saints.
57:47 I doubt that he matters much but they really love him
57:50 and they've talked about using him in line and having somebody
57:52 having him as somebody that can be on the field all
57:54 the time and he's really good with the ball in his hands.
57:57 Really good athlete so there's a potential you
57:59 know I I want to bet on Kyler Murray's
58:00 offense there's potential that he does get unlocked
58:03 in year one so keep an eye on him.
58:04 Mingo is one of my favorites.
58:06 I just think that it's it's it's almost
58:08 like Anthony Williams light like just great opportunity.
58:10 There's not a lot of competition for receivers there.
58:14 He's going to be fun with the ball in his hands.
58:15 It's just a matter of you know what we see
58:19 from Tua or Penix off injury in this offense but I
58:23 mean you look at it you got Mundin Pitts Bijan you
58:26 know will he get 100 targets again like there's nobody else.
58:30 People are making fun of me for the rapid fire
58:32 like that that was like two minutes or something right?
58:34 That's amazing rapid fire for me.
58:36 Rapid fire for me is normally 10 minutes.
58:38 No that was very good rapid fire.
58:39 Very good very efficient and Anthony you
58:42 called Zach Kumerow Branch Anthony Williams light.
58:44 That's quite literally he's 3 inches shorter he's 10 lbs lighter.
58:48 Tua?
58:49 They're you know similar.
58:51 The player who I think is actually Anthony
58:52 Williams light is Cyrus Allen for the Chiefs
58:54 round five draft pick who can be like a real route winner from the inside.
58:57 They don't ever draft guys like this who can beat man coverage and stuff.
59:00 They do always draft guys who have to play
59:02 in the slot which appears to be what they have again here.
59:04 So I don't think he'll matter but if something were to like happen to Rashee
59:07 Rice or something then he's a name
59:09 worth knowing round five pick out of Cincinnati.
59:10 that call.
59:11 All right.
59:12 Adam did you notice anything different about my background by the way today?
59:14 I've been meaning to ask you this.
59:17 Five or six Giants things instead of three?
59:20 No.
59:22 Tennis racket.
59:23 Oh yeah this was meant to this was meant to intimidate all Adam.
59:27 Awesome.
59:30 [laughter]
59:28 Bad boy on to intimidate him work on I wouldn't I would not play you right now.
59:33 It would be it would be fun.
59:35 Since since you're already on the move open the fridge.
59:36 Let's see what's No, we're not open.
59:41 Never do that on this show.
59:43 By the way making excuses already you injured or something?
59:46 The No, I'm just not playing well right now.
59:48 I am injured.
59:49 I am quite injured but uh that's And you know
59:51 that he's reading books about tennis now to get his game Oh,
59:54 you're you're into tennis books now.
59:55 Trust me, I've gone down that same path with golf.
59:57 It's not very fruitful.
59:58 I've read two golf books.
59:59 They didn't help me at all.
1:00:00 Have you ever read the inner game of tennis?
1:00:02 No, who's what's what's No.
1:00:04 It's about the mental approach of to That's cool.
1:00:07 That's something you need to improve on.
1:00:08 Yeah, I know I have so far.
1:00:10 Um Uh what was I going to say?
1:00:13 Uh Open the fridge then.
1:00:13 Come on.
1:00:14 Open the fridge.
1:00:14 No more.
1:00:15 No more of that.
1:00:16 Do you have any more names you want to rattle off Dan?
1:00:18 Um freezer you're already cold.
1:00:20 Jacob hit Kobe Young.
1:00:21 Jacob hit a couple of my deep sleepers Jay Michael Sturdivant.
1:00:24 Uh Sturdivant Sturdivant Sturdivant And I did I did not talk about him at all.
1:00:28 He's Green Bay Packers UDFA.
1:00:30 Play the Dan line.
1:00:30 Green Bay Packers UDFA.
1:00:32 One of the better route vertical route winners that I
1:00:34 watched in this class especially during his time at UCLA.
1:00:37 Really like that.
1:00:38 I'll give one really deep one.
1:00:39 Marlon Klein a player who I said
1:00:41 in our sleepers podcast before I thought he'd be
1:00:43 a sixth round pick seventh round pick had no
1:00:45 production in Michigan but just looked awesome movement wise.
1:00:48 And then the Texans made him what a second round pick?
1:00:50 I think it was.
1:00:51 I was going to say he's he's drafted
1:00:52 higher than anyone we've talked about so far.
1:00:54 Yeah.
1:00:55 Um and I don't I think he's essentially what we've
1:00:58 been betting on working at tight end fantasy for a while.
1:01:01 It's bet on trades.
1:01:01 That's what tight end has been in fantasy for the last three four five years.
1:01:05 So it's another bet on trades guy.
1:01:06 I wouldn't be shocked if he gets a role earlier than
1:01:08 people think and he could be really good after the catch.
1:01:11 Yeah.
1:01:12 What if what if our audience guesses what's
1:01:14 in your refrigerator and you have to show it?
1:01:16 Jamie, you're so focused on this we're not doing that ever again.
1:01:18 It was a mistake to ever do it and it's never happening again.
1:01:21 Oh, I I know what I was going to say.
1:01:22 The the we had a listener whole pack of xiamen there.
1:01:26 who also refrigerates peanut butter cuz that's what Dan does.
1:01:29 It's good.
1:01:30 It's not it's not that crazy.
1:01:31 It's not that weird.
1:01:31 It tastes better.
1:01:32 His name is Dan also.
1:01:34 He is He is the best tennis player I've ever like seen.
1:01:39 I mean like our level.
1:01:41 He's What do you mean at our level?
1:01:43 He couldn't be at our level.
1:01:44 You would say he's probably a 5.0.
1:01:46 He's a 4.0.
1:01:47 He's not like a former college 4.0 anything.
1:01:49 Yeah, but he would destroy you.
1:01:50 He he kills everyone.
1:01:51 destroy me if he's a 4.0.
1:01:52 He you would you would maybe would I'm way closer to 4.5 than 4.0.
1:01:57 No, you're not.
1:01:58 Yes, I am.
1:01:58 Cuz if you were 4.5 I wouldn't I wouldn't either.
1:02:00 I'd be I wouldn't So Adam are those the only You wouldn't what Adam?
1:02:03 You wouldn't what?
1:02:04 I wouldn't be able to compete with you.
1:02:05 You're not you're not.
1:02:06 You lost 6-0 in the first set and then beat me when
1:02:08 I was [laughter] tired and barely could even like catch a breath.
1:02:11 You didn't beat me.
1:02:12 You got four games in the second set when I could barely catch a breath.
1:02:14 You lost the first set 6-0.
1:02:16 Year before was what?
1:02:16 6-0 6-2?
1:02:18 Uh Yes, it was 6-0 6-2.
1:02:20 Yeah, no back then it was 6-0 6-2 6-0 and then You
1:02:24 know if I won that second set I was winning the tiebreaker.
1:02:26 You know it.
1:02:27 Obviously I could barely move out there bud.
1:02:29 You're 4.5 and you can barely move?
1:02:31 4.5 and you can barely It's a conditioning issue.
1:02:33 It's a conditioning issue.
1:02:34 I'm Eddie Lacy.
1:02:34 I'm the Eddie Lacy of tennis.
1:02:36 What uh It's nothing to do with my skill set.
1:02:38 It's his conditioning issue.
1:02:39 Adam are those the only two people you know that refrigerate peanut butter?
1:02:42 Yes.
1:02:43 So then you probably saw My peanut butter's in my fridge.
1:02:46 You're right Jamie that I should Your peanut butter's in your fridge too?
1:02:49 What the hell is wrong with you people?
1:02:51 It's disgusting.
1:02:53 [laughter] It's because they're eating peanut butter
1:02:55 that doesn't have seed oils in it Adam.
1:02:56 Come on now.
1:02:58 I don't whatever the case is I What What is that?
1:03:01 I wanted to go on this rant at some point.
1:03:02 Why do people buy the stir peanut butter?
1:03:05 What is the benefit to that?
1:03:08 There's It stir.
1:03:10 Yeah, the one that's like liquidy and you have to stir it.
1:03:12 Who would choose that?
1:03:13 I accidentally bought it That's all peanut butter dude.
1:03:17 That's that's that's the peanut butter you have to buy.
1:03:20 It's exactly the same as the no stir the one I bought.
1:03:22 Look the the It just it doesn't have the words no stir on it.
1:03:25 So I accidentally bought it.
1:03:26 And it's like what what is the purpose of this?
1:03:28 It doesn't taste as good.
1:03:30 You there's effort that you have to put into it.
1:03:32 I don't know who would choose stir peanut butter.
1:03:34 You can't see because the shirt matches the chair
1:03:36 but his shoulders are so high right now.
1:03:38 Thomas, isn't Is it Jamie correct me if I'm wrong.
1:03:41 Oh my god.
1:03:43 [laughter]
1:03:46 Uh for those who aren't listening just another shining picture of me AI'd
1:03:51 in but I think the only healthy peanut butter is the stir peanut butter.
1:03:55 No.
1:03:56 I'm pretty sure.
1:03:56 Thomas correct me if I'm wrong.
1:03:58 I'm pretty sure.
1:03:59 If you don't have stir peanut butter that means there's just a bunch
1:04:01 of junk oil in it that makes it so it doesn't stir.
1:04:04 Not if you get You're not a good tennis player Adam.
1:04:06 Cuz I don't He's eating junk peanut He's
1:04:08 just eating junk and he doesn't realize it.
1:04:10 He's like I don't want to stir.
1:04:12 All right, you want to read some emails real quick?
1:04:13 Let's go.
1:04:13 Let's finish up here.
1:04:15 Uh from Owen in Chester Virginia.
1:04:18 Dear Arch, Julian and Dante.
1:04:21 These are upcoming quarterbacks.
1:04:24 Okay.
1:04:25 Who's Dante?
1:04:27 Uh Julian saying Arch Manning Dante Dante Moore from Oregon.
1:04:31 Dante Moore.
1:04:32 Okay.
1:04:33 Uh 12 team superflex dynasty league.
1:04:35 I finished second last year.
1:04:37 I'm in contention mode.
1:04:38 I have a young team.
1:04:39 I have picks 110 111 25 and 29.
1:04:43 Um considering how awful this year's class appears to be and how
1:04:46 good next year's is supposed to be would it be crazy
1:04:48 to try to package picks [snorts and clears throat] 110 111
1:04:51 25 and 29 for a first and second round pick next year.
1:04:56 He's a contender now?
1:04:57 Yeah.
1:04:58 I would.
1:05:00 Maybe not all of them but I I would consider it.
1:05:05 [snorts] Yeah, you just worry about the names that were giving uh who's going
1:05:06 to be available to you at 110 111 like De'Shawn Stribling and Antonio Williams.
1:05:12 So I think I'd probably It's a superflex dynasty league.
1:05:15 Next year they're going to be so many
1:05:16 quarterbacks that are going to be I'd do it.
1:05:20 Here's a keeper question from Josh.
1:05:23 Uh 12 team half PPR superflex keep four.
1:05:27 Superflex okay?
1:05:28 Olave in the sixth Evans in the seventh Purdy in the 10th
1:05:34 Dart in the 14th Fan in 16th but Baker Mayfield There it is.
1:05:43 Baker Mayfield 17th Bucky Irving 18th.
1:05:46 You can keep how many?
1:05:48 You can keep [snorts] four.
1:05:49 Purdy and Dart for sure.
1:05:51 Yeah, that's obvious.
1:05:52 I would go Bucky and Olave.
1:05:56 What was the round for Bucky?
1:05:57 Bucky's 18th round.
1:05:59 Yeah.
1:06:00 Yeah, Bucky for sure based on that and then it's either Olave or Evans.
1:06:06 I think I would go Evans.
1:06:07 I'm just super high on Evans this year though.
1:06:10 Is it Is Purdy in the 10th better than Bucky than Baker Mayfield in the 17th?
1:06:14 You could keep all three quarterbacks if you if you
1:06:16 want to be a jerk and go some game theory.
1:06:19 This is a weird league man though.
1:06:21 Like it doesn't really make any sense to me.
1:06:22 Like in what world was Baker available to get as a 17th round keeper?
1:06:27 That doesn't add up unless somebody like cut
1:06:29 him because the injury and then it's like you
1:06:31 you didn't do the rules right because you
1:06:33 allowed it to go to the free agent guys.
1:06:35 This is a really poorly set up league I hate to say and I hate to be that guy.
1:06:38 You can keep these guys forever though.
1:06:39 That's the question.
1:06:39 That's what it looks like.
1:06:40 Then that's even that's not good.
1:06:42 Then you may have gotten Baker when he was not sure on the league.
1:06:45 Yeah, that's not good either.
1:06:47 I don't know.
1:06:47 17 Baker just rough to see.
1:06:49 Makes no sense.
1:06:50 Last one.
1:06:52 I just read that apparently Brendan Soresby may enter
1:06:55 the supplemental draft in July because of his gambling investigation.
1:06:59 This would mean he gets drafted in July and according to reports he
1:07:02 would have been in the discussion with Mendoza for QB1 or two this year.
1:07:05 How do we even handle this for a superflex
1:07:07 rookie draft that is if it has already started?
1:07:11 Interesting Adam.
1:07:13 I mean think about it.
1:07:14 I don't Is he even I don't think he's
1:07:15 even available in the player pool for most places.
1:07:18 draft him now because he's not technically in the NFL.
1:07:23 It is a good question though as far as like what
1:07:25 your league would I think he would just hit free agency.
1:07:27 Yeah, I I mean like I know how Heath
1:07:29 does his uh Yolo Dynasty League where post draft he
1:07:34 just freezes transactions and then we have a free
1:07:37 agent bidding process right before the start of the season.
1:07:40 So you would just have to pick him up then.
1:07:43 Adam's draft will just allow him to be selected at the time of the draft.
1:07:48 Yeah, because it's He's going to be
1:07:49 free agent for anybody doing rookie drafts now.
1:07:51 It it this is why you don't draft early because
1:07:53 people get investigated for gambling and end up in the supplemental
1:07:57 [laughter] [gasps] I yeah, I think the the freeze makes sense.
1:08:01 For the you talking about Dan?
1:08:03 Yeah.
1:08:07 [laughter] All right.
1:08:07 Well, I I I have to sneeze and blow my nose.
1:08:09 So I'm going to end the show.
