Van Jones HUMILIATES HIMSELF Over Israel's SECRET NUKES
Breaking Points
0:00 A group of House Democrats is demanding that the United
0:04 States break the taboo surrounding Israel's nuclear weapons.
0:08 We can put our first element up on the screen.
0:10 This was a story in the Washington Post that reported on a letter saying a group
0:15 of House Democrats is urging the Trump administration
0:17 to p publicly acknowledge Israel's undeclared nuclear weapons program.
0:21 a move that would abandon decades of US policy but confirm what
0:26 has been an open secret among intelligence officials since the late 1960s.
0:31 Now, this letter was addressed to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
0:36 Uh the Post published the letter in full and you can
0:39 see I'm very curious to get Ryan Grim's reaction to this.
0:42 Again, 30 House Democrats, not just squad type House Democrats either.
0:47 You have like Al Green on there.
0:49 AOC is on it.
0:50 Becca Balance is on it.
0:51 Some of, you know, Greg Casar, some of the obvious,
0:54 uh, types, Mark Bhan, uh, but it's it's not just squad types.
0:59 Lloyd Dogget is on this.
1:00 So, uh, we can also then, Ryan,
1:04 take a little trip down memory lane to Jonathan Pard years ago.
1:09 That's a familiar name, but set us up, Ryan,
1:11 because you had us pull this clip to kind
1:12 of understand the significance of what's really happening here.
1:16 Yeah.
1:16 So, Jonathan Pard, one of the maybe the most infamous um Israeli spy who helped
1:22 build um Israel's nuclear program by stealing American
1:27 nuclear secrets and sending them to um Israel.
1:31 uh as as we reported a while ago uh and this has
1:34 been in books and other stuff uh when Netanyahu came uh
1:39 to the US in the '9s um he mentioned um to President
1:46 Clinton that Israel had tapes of him in communication with Monica Lewins.
1:50 Just mentioned it like as a friend would do.
1:53 Not not making any threats whatsoever.
1:55 Friend would do.
1:56 Just saying, "Hey, just just bro FYI, we've got these tapes.
2:00 to think about.
2:01 Not great.
2:01 Then he also said um I need you to free Jonathan
2:05 Pard as part of this peace deal that I'm trying to get,
2:08 you know, get brokered with Arafat here.
2:10 Uh the George Tennant, who was a CIA director at the time,
2:14 told Clinton, if you do that, I'm resigning and saying that's why I'm resigning.
2:19 Like we as the American intelligence community will not
2:23 allow this spy to be sent back to Israel.
2:28 That was the '9s.
2:29 Um he was eventually kind of given some humanitarian parole in 2015
2:35 um by uh the Obama administration
2:37 and then uh the Trump administration allowed him to head back uh to Israel where
2:43 he promptly threatened to nuke the United States.
2:47 So let's roll Pard.
2:49 The Oiden administration, as I called it, did threaten us,
2:53 but I said you're mistaken if you think there's never a choice.
2:57 There was a choice.
2:58 He said, "Well, what?
2:59 Is it to have our weapons cut off?
3:00 I said, "No, let me bring you back to October 1973 during
3:06 the Yam Kapour war when Henry Kissinger instituted an arms embargo against us.
3:12 He he stopped the aerial resupply of our army at that point
3:18 to extract uh diplomatic concessions from us." And what happened?
3:24 What happened was um an A4 Skyhawk was parked at uh
3:32 Telnof Air Base with some interesting weapons under the its wings
3:37 and uh we told the Americans take your eye in the sky
3:42 and take a good look at the airplane that's on that runway.
3:47 And the next day the airlift started.
3:52 So
3:54 the guy that I was talking
3:56 which airlift
3:56 to the to Israel
3:58 the arms airlift.
3:59 So in other words, we threatened their um
4:02 we threatened to use unconventional weapons.
4:04 I'll leave it at that.
4:06 And so he said is this what you're want us to threaten now?
4:09 I said absolutely except this time I want us to go forward with it if necessary.
4:14 Well, ain't that nice?
4:15 After that uh unconventional weapons
4:17 unconventional weapons some fancy weapons under the wing.
4:21 After that, Mike Huckabe, our ambassador to Israel, met with Pard,
4:26 which then drew protests from American officials in the embassy who were like,
4:31 "What on earth are you doing?" Uh, meanwhile, Pard is taking the hint.
4:35 Um,
4:36 you put up B3 here.
4:37 He's announcing, according to Times of Israel, you know,
4:39 he's planning on entering politics,
4:41 slamming Netanyahu and Bennett from the right, obviously.
4:44 Yes.
4:44 Right.
4:45 Um, so I look forward to when Pard is prime minister.
4:49 Um people saying that they condemn the pard but not Israel.
4:54 Um so yeah that'll be interesting.
4:56 By the way I was looking through the list of the 30 people
4:59 that signed a ton of them are not coming back to Congress next next time.
5:02 However super interesting some that are interestingly one of them Maxine Dexter.
5:07 Oh that is interesting.
5:09 So Maxine Dexter she beat um Primila Gyipol's sister.
5:14 Yes.
5:13 Sushila Gyipol.
5:14 Primila Gaipal signed this letter.
5:16 Uh she got more than $2 million from Apac
5:20 that they secretly funneled through this group 314 action.
5:25 Yes.
5:25 So she was elected with two plus million dollars worth of Apac secret Apac money
5:29 and is running again.
5:30 And is running again.
5:30 She's been and she has been constituents
5:33 hammer her constantly that secret AP pack money.
5:36 She's Portland area.
5:37 Yeah.
5:37 Yeah.
5:38 Very.
5:39 Um and so that's interesting that she would sign this.
5:42 That's very interesting.
5:43 Apac you spent 2 million bucks to get her in there.
5:45 She's now she's uh telling Israel to out um its nuclear program,
5:49 which has legal implications because if
5:53 the United States ever acknowledged that Israel had
5:55 uh undeclared nuclear weapons and it is
5:58 not a signatory to any of these treaties,
6:00 you can't we can't arm a country like that.
6:02 It is illegal to arm that country, which means it it is illegal to arm them.
6:07 There is so much on the line.
6:09 And I get that this is just like a silly little letter.
6:11 Uh people will say from House Democrats, but it's a huge sign that this taboo
6:16 with massive implications is in the process of shattering.
6:19 Van Jones on CNN was discussing this with Abby Phillip
6:22 and had a little bit of honestly a crash out.
6:25 You can see why.
6:26 I mean, he's he's sort of calm throughout,
6:29 but you can see he's he's pulling at the stud that Ryan's talking about.
6:32 Why?
6:33 Why?
6:33 Why?
6:33 Why these House Democrats saying it?
6:36 Roll the clip here.
6:37 Here are some of the questions that Wen Castro um is posing on this issue.
6:43 May maybe this might answer some of your questions.
6:45 What nuclear weapons capability does Israel have?
6:48 Has the administration received any assurances from Israel
6:52 that nuclear weapons will not be used?
6:54 Has Israel communicated to the United States any nuclear doctrine,
6:58 any red lines or thresholds for nuclear use
7:00 in the context of the current conflict with Iran?
7:03 Has the administration assessed what circumstances could
7:06 lead Israel to continue consider nuclear use?
7:09 What contingency planning has the administration conducted for such a scenario?
7:14 I mean, we do I I I mean, I is is there any I'm I'm asking an honest question.
7:21 Why I mean is have there been some rumor
7:24 that says that Israel is going to nuke Iran?
7:27 Here's the I guess the question is the question is
7:29 again now there's been a a change of status quo
7:33 there's a war between
7:36 the United States Israel and Iran that is going on right now in the Middle
7:40 East and under those circumstances that is
7:43 actually different from what we've been experiencing
7:47 for the last you know 40 50 years and so under those circumstances there's
7:53 only one power in the Middle East um that has a nuke and it's Israel.
7:58 And so the question is what are the circumstances?
8:01 What are the boundaries?
8:02 Are there any boundaries?
8:03 They don't acknowledge that they have them.
8:05 People know that they that they do, but are there any boundaries?
8:08 I think that seems like a fair question to ask.
8:11 I'm assuming that they're in executive session.
8:14 This seems like a fair question to ask.
8:15 Abby Phillips says, but Ryan Van Jones is saying why.
8:19 I think because he's getting it exactly to your point.
8:21 He's saying why?
8:23 Because he believes the answer is so
8:25 that because Democrats now want to stop arming Israel.
8:29 I I think that's what he was my interpretation is that's what he's pushing at.
8:32 He's saying, "Well, nobody thinks Israel is actually going to nuke Iran.
8:35 So, the only reason you're doing this, uh he didn't come out and say it,
8:38 but is because you don't want to keep
8:40 sending arms and military support to Israel,
8:43 period." And I think that's obviously what the real
8:45 threat is to people like Van Jones here.
8:48 Yeah.
8:48 And the the status quo position among a lot
8:51 of Democrats at this point is uh okay,
8:55 we're not going to subsidize Israeli weapons transfers anymore,
8:59 but we're still going to facilitate massive weapons transfers.
9:03 And the next uh terrain for the fight is going to be no.
9:08 Um we should actually not be sending period.
9:11 We should not even be selling Israel weapons as long
9:13 as they are continuing this expansionist project into Lebanon,
9:18 into Syria, um into into Gaza, uh into the West Bank.
9:24 Um and then in fact, they should be under sanctions.
9:26 And if you're making the case that they should be sanctioned,
9:29 having an illegal undeclared nuclear program,
9:32 I believe we're at war um with Iran over its nuclear program.
9:39 Mhm.
9:37 Uh right right now, although maybe maybe we're pausing that, you know,
9:42 Project Freedom momentarily.
9:44 Um but yeah, so that that that will play in when um if if the US,
9:49 you know, if if if the American people are like,
9:51 "Wait a minute, we don't we don't necessarily trust
9:54 the um ability of this country to self-regulate its behavior." Yeah.
10:01 This is uh to I mean,
10:03 this is a big picture conversation we've been having about Iran for a long time,
10:05 which you look at polling in America,
10:07 support is just cratering for Israel almost across the board,
10:10 except for among older Republican voters.
10:13 And you're starting to see I mean this letter
10:15 kind of shatters the taboo in and of itself.
10:17 And so as these conversations increase,
10:21 you have like Pard being somebody who's entering Israeli politics,
10:26 uh, you have a a ascendant far right in Israeli politics.
10:30 uh because there's this idea that it's the this is kind of the end
10:35 of the line when it comes to uh protection that shield from the United States
10:40 because Americans no longer buy that the relationship
10:43 is beneficial is mutually beneficial uh
10:46 to the American people and so sort of a a sign there that's probably correct.
10:53 Yeah.
10:53 Yeah.
10:53 Uh love the Van Jones uh response.
10:56 Why leave these guys alone?
10:58 Why why are you singling out this this Israel in the Middle East
11:02 just because they're the only uh country with an undeclared nuclear program?
11:09 Seems seems awfully strange.
11:11 Uh we have Ro Chopra standing by.
11:12 So we are going to bring him in to talk
11:14 about this crazy what how many acres, Ryan?
11:17 62 acres.
11:18 62 square miles.
11:19 62 square miles.
11:20 That's right.
11:21 Data center in Utah.
