OMG: Trump’s gold statue reveal at Mar-a-Lago BACKFIRES
Brian Tyler Cohen
0:00 Okay sir.
0:02 Hello everybody.
0:03 I want to thank you so much for being
0:06 there today and more importantly for what you did.
0:08 The uh the statue is beautiful.
0:11 You know I saw it during the weekend.
0:13 We had a big PGA tournament with a a great
0:16 champion and all great champions actually but it was a great
0:20 tournament and I got to look at it very closely
0:23 and it's incredible and I just want to thank you.
0:26 I know it was done from love.
0:28 And I want to thank Mark Burns, a pastor.
0:31 He's a good pastor.
0:32 He's a good man.
0:33 I've known him a long time.
0:34 He's been with me from the beginning.
0:36 Right from the beginning, maybe about two days later, right?
0:39 Two days.
0:40 Right, Mr.
0:40 President.
0:41 He was He was right at the beginning.
0:43 And I appreciate it, Mark.
0:44 You're great and just really a a good person.
0:47 And I want to thank everybody there.
0:49 I don't know.
0:49 I hear there's a good crowd of people,
0:51 but I want to thank you all and I won't forget it.
0:55 And we we love you all and the country is doing
0:58 great and uh Iran is not doing good because of us.
1:02 They are not doing well at all and good things
1:05 are happening and I just want to really give you
1:08 my love and I wish I could be there where we
1:11 want to make sure everything's going perfect on the war fronts.
1:14 I think you you could understand that.
1:16 But we'll all we'll see you all around.
1:18 I just want to again it's everybody is taking pictures of it.
1:22 Everybody is my people told me that it's unbelievable.
1:26 All day long they're taking pictures.
1:27 They stand up next to it and they have their picture taken.
1:31 It really came out beautifully.
1:32 I didn't know what to expect.
1:34 I just want to thank you all and we love you all and God bless America.
1:39 God bless you, sir.
1:40 God bless you.
1:40 We love you.
1:41 God bless you, Mr.
1:42 President.
1:43 Love you, sir.
1:44 Talk to you soon.
1:45 Byebye.
1:47 That was the unveiling of a golden statue of Donald Trump at Mara
1:51 Lago because he definitely totally does not view himself as a god-like figure.
1:56 Whatever you do, just remember that Donald Trump
1:59 100% absolutely doesn't see himself as a deity.
2:04 And on a completely unrelated note,
2:05 here is an image Trump posted of himself as Jesus.
2:08 Now, of course, I presume that most
2:10 people who attended Donald Trump's little Mara Lago
2:12 unveiling have so little self-awareness that they
2:15 couldn't see what it is they were doing.
2:17 But at least one person heard some criticism.
2:19 Trump's pastor, Mark Burns, had to post on Twitter.
2:23 Now, obviously, this screed is a lot, like a lot lot.
2:28 But I'm just going to read a little bit from the very
2:30 top since I think that's enough to really get the point across.
2:33 quote, "One of the greatest honors of my life
2:36 was leading the dedication of President Donald J.
2:38 Trump's statue to the world." What amazes me
2:40 is how quickly some people have compared this beautiful
2:42 statue created and made possible by more than
2:45 6,000 patriots to a golden calf or idol worship.
2:48 Let me be very clear, we worship the Lord Jesus Christ and him alone.
2:52 The word of God says, "You shall have no other gods before me." Exodus 23.
2:56 It also says, "You shall worship the Lord
2:58 your God and him only you shall serve." Matthew 4:10.
3:02 That is the line.
3:03 Honor is not worship.
3:04 Respect is not idolatry.
3:06 Celebration is not bowing down to a false god.
3:08 What's the expression again?
3:10 Uh, a hit dog will holler.
3:11 Because that certainly is a lot of words to protest criticism.
3:16 It's almost like, and bear with me on this one,
3:18 Mark Burns has a guilty conscience for some reason.
3:22 But with all of that said,
3:24 is it a surprise that Donald Trump and his cult following
3:26 are committing sinful behavior while using their religion as a shield?
3:30 Remember, this is a guy who literally sparked off a fight with the pope.
3:35 Jesus told us, "Blessed are the peacemakers." But woe to those who
3:40 manipulate religion in the very name of God for their own military,
3:45 economic, or political gain,
3:48 dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth.
3:53 Yes, my dear sisters and brothers, you who hunger and thirst for justice,
4:00 who are poor, merciful, meek, and pure of heart, you who have wept.
4:09 You are the light of the world.
4:12 And Trump, for his part, responded to this comment, saying this,
4:16 very important that the pope understands.
4:18 Very, very important.
4:19 It'd be nice not to say it.
4:21 Uh, Iran killed 42,000 people that were totally unarmed.
4:25 They were protesters.
4:27 Uh, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.
4:30 If they did, every country, including Italy, where he stationed,
4:34 every single country in in the world would be in trouble.
4:38 So, we're doing very well with respect to that having
4:41 to do with the whole situation on Iran.
4:44 The uh the blockade is amazing.
4:48 It's holding up very strong, very powerfully.
4:51 Uh, and I think we're making a lot of progress on that.
4:54 But the pope has to understand Iran,
4:56 very simple, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.
4:58 The world would be in great danger.
5:00 And just a quick note right now on Donald Trump's demand
5:03 that the Pope has to understand that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.
5:06 There was already an agreement in place preventing exactly that.
5:10 Trump tore it up because he didn't like
5:12 the guy whose name was attached to the deal.
5:14 And that deal did the thing that Trump is claiming he wants to do
5:17 by bombing Iran every six months to the tune of billions of dollars.
5:21 In other words, Trump's partisan hackery
5:23 and jealousy costs Americans $50 billion and counting.
5:27 And yet, it's the Pope who needs to be schooled.
5:30 Got it?
5:31 And reporters have actually pushed back again about Donald Trump's
5:34 new feud with the religious community of the president because
5:38 there was a group of bishops that did put out
5:39 a statement saying the focus isn't merely exercising his opinion.
5:42 He's preaching the gospel.
5:44 What do you say to people that do that?
5:45 Well, I want him to preach the gospel.
5:46 I'm all about the gospel.
5:48 But I also know that you cannot let a certain country,
5:52 which is a very mean-spirited country, have a nuclear weapon.
5:55 If they did, they would use it.
5:57 And I think they'd use it quickly and they would kill many millions of people.
6:01 So, you know, the Pope could disagree with me
6:03 on that, but certainly we're allowed to have that.
6:05 Uh, I'm all about the gospel.
6:07 I'm about it as much as anybody can be.
6:09 But I can't allow as president of the United States of America,
6:14 I can't allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon.
6:16 And here's the story.
6:17 They won't have.
6:18 They've already agreed not to have.
6:21 That's good news.
6:22 And I think the Pope will be very happy more
6:26 that Trump is quote all about the gospel.
6:29 Now, you may have seen this video before, but if not,
6:32 I want to show you exactly how all about the gospel he is.
6:36 Here's what happened when all about the gospel,
6:39 Donald Trump, was asked for his favorite Bible verse.
6:42 You mentioned the Bible.
6:43 You've been talking about how it's your favorite book and you said,
6:45 I think last night in Iowa, some people are surprised that you say that.
6:48 I'm wondering what one or two of your most favorite Bible uh verses are and why.
6:53 I wouldn't want to get into it because to me that's very personal.
6:56 You know, when I talk about the Bible, it's very personal.
6:58 So, I don't want to get into verses.
6:59 I don't want to get into there's no verse that means
7:01 a lot to you that you think about or site.
7:03 The the Bible means a lot to me, but I don't want to get into specifics.
7:07 Even to site a verse that you like.
7:08 I don't want to do that.
7:09 I mean, an Old Testament guy or a New Testament guy?
7:11 Uh, probably equal.
7:13 I think it's just an incredible the whole Bible
7:16 is an incredible I joke uh very much so.
7:19 They always hold up the art of the deal.
7:20 I say my second favorite book of all time.
7:22 But uh I just think the Bible is just something very special.
7:26 See how all about the gospel he is?
7:28 And if I was the pope, I'd maybe consider just staying in my lane when it comes
7:32 to going toe-to-toe with the behemoth of the Bible, Donald Jesus Trump.
7:37 I also find it pretty interesting that when asked
7:39 if he would meet with the Pope, Trump said this.
7:42 Mr.
7:42 President, would you meet with the Pope
7:44 to even out your differences with Catholics?
7:47 I don't think it's necessary.
7:51 Especially considering when I asked Barack Obama who he'd most like to meet,
7:55 this was his answer.
7:56 who uh is there is there a person that you
7:58 most want to meet that you haven't met yet?
8:00 I'll be honest with you being president or even being the next president.
8:06 I can kind of meet everybody.
8:08 So, I've met a lot of folks.
8:09 Uh the person who I have not yet met um
8:13 that I'm looking forward to meeting and I I hope I
8:14 get an opportunity sometime in the future is uh uh
8:18 the new pope who is from Chicago and a White Sox fan.
8:21 I had the pleasure of getting to know Pope Francis pretty well.
8:25 Um and and he was legit.
8:29 You know, there there's some figures, he's one,
8:32 the Daly Lama was another is another who they're how you hope they are.
8:38 They kind of walk the walk.
8:39 Yeah.
8:40 And my sense of this new pope is he's from that he's cut from that cloth.
8:46 you know, somebody who, you know, worked in places, you know,
8:56 that really needed help and and and uh
9:00 what wasn't just uh preaching from a pulpit,
9:03 but getting his hands dirty trying to trying to help people.
9:05 So, I'm I'm looking forward to talking to him.
9:07 So, it's no wonder Trump already hates the guy because Obama likes him.
9:10 And Trump's disdain for Obama is one of the only thing that fuels him.
9:14 It's why he dismantled the ACA.
9:16 It's why he's dismantled the Iran nuclear deal, the JCPOA.
9:19 I mean, hell, you could make the argument that Trump ran for president
9:22 because Obama made fun of him at the White House correspondents dinner.
9:25 Trump knows that he will never be as smart,
9:28 never be as articulate, never be as good-looking as Obama.
9:30 And so, he's dedicated his life and his presidency
9:33 to trying to undermine Obama's legacy instead,
9:36 even if doing so leaves Americans sicker, poorer, and less safe.
9:40 Because at the end of the day, it's not any of us who he cares about.
9:44 It's not any of the 350 million Americans who Trump cares about.
9:48 It is Donald Trump and his own fragile ego.
9:51 But I'll leave you with one last thing.
9:52 Words from Leviticus 19:4.
9:54 Do not turn to idols or make metal gods for yourselves.
9:58 Perhaps someone should let this guy and his cult following down
10:00 in Florida know that while using their Christianity as a shield,
10:03 they're the ones undermining it.
10:07 Before you go, I'm very excited to announce
10:10 that I've written a new book titled The Day After:
10:13 How to Wield Power in a PostTrump World.
10:15 The book explores what is, in my opinion,
10:17 the single most important theme that we're
10:18 dealing with in politics today and moving forward.
10:21 Power.
10:22 Specifically, how Republicans abuse it and how Democrats refuse to wield it.
10:25 This book explains how we got here and more importantly,
10:28 how we should finally wield power if we're lucky enough to get it back.
10:31 It is the blueprint for progressives who want
10:33 to do far more than just restore the status quo.
