What is “woke history” according to MAGA? Finding a pattern and how to fight back, live

The Cynical Historian

0:01 [music] [music] [music] WELL, SON.

0:17 [screaming] Ferocious

0:32 historical [music] precedent.

0:34 We've never seen this before.

0:36 Could this be the end of the world?

0:40 75 years later.

0:42 Where have I seen this before?

0:49 It's an Heat.

0:56 Heat.

0:59 [music] Heat.

1:27 Heat.

2:06 We'll do it live.

2:11 All right.

2:11 Hello everybody.

2:12 How's it going?

2:13 Um, it's been a while since I've done a live stream on my YouTube channel,

2:17 but I have continued to live stream on my uh

2:22 on my Twitch channel if anybody wants to check that out.

2:25 It's uh twitch.tv/synicalhistorian.

2:29 Um, but [clears throat] uh I'm currently streaming both to YouTube and Twitch.

2:35 So, uh, hello and welcome everyone.

2:37 This is going to be a bit of a lively one, I think.

2:41 Um, also I trying out a new feature as you can

2:45 see right here where it shows the actual like uh comments.

2:49 So, we'll see if that works.

2:51 Oh, hey.

2:51 Hey, where are you going?

2:52 [laughter] And uh, everyone that say hello to King Richard I.

2:58 Hello there.

2:59 Hey there, King.

2:59 Where you going?

3:01 You can't go anywhere yet.

3:03 You have to be introduced.

3:06 And there he goes.

3:09 [laughter] Um [snorts] but uh yeah, so um I've been planning this live stream

3:17 for quite a while and trying to collect

3:19 like examples of what this administration has labeled

3:24 woke history and deemed it um unsuitable to uh

3:31 be in any kind of federal opaces because

3:35 the federal government actually does quite a bit

3:37 of history and um that is going to uh

3:42 that's going to take up most of this stream,

3:43 but I also want to talk at the end of the stream

3:46 about how historians are fighting back um in some specific ways.

3:52 [snorts] Um and uh so I have this huge document over here.

3:58 Uh hold on.

4:02 Share screen.

4:02 Come on.

4:04 Um.

4:07 Whoop.

4:07 I hit cancel.

4:08 Oops.

4:08 That's my fault.

4:11 Share screen.

4:12 Entire screen.

4:13 There we go.

4:14 With sound.

4:16 Share.

4:17 There we go.

4:18 Finally.

4:19 So, um, [clears throat] this uh this document here

4:24 is uh kind of just what I'm working off of.

4:28 Uh, by the way, in the description below on the on the YouTube channel,

4:33 there are some these books linked uh because they're fairly

4:37 useful uh for what we are going to be talking about.

4:40 So, if you're interested in reading up on uh on kind of like

4:45 how history is being uh mistaken um in the larger scheme of things,

4:52 there's some books in the description there for you.

4:55 But as we will see, I have quite the list of things to talk about here.

5:02 And um so there I've sectioned them off into various

5:07 uh pieces to so that we can move along uh expeditiously.

5:15 And uh yeah, there we go.

5:17 That so that's that's uh how far we got to go.

5:22 Um, while I'm doing this, I will be showing

5:25 the little banner down here for when I'm on each section.

5:29 Um, but this is what I'm hoping to do is fill out

5:35 these this little findings section because each one of these represents a um

5:43 represents a kind of uh uh a thing that they are

5:48 that the that the administration is censoring

5:52 history about that they are actually censoring history.

5:55 This is not a it's not a uh you know hyperbolic thing.

6:00 Um but they are they are actually trying to either delete uh delete his uh

6:08 history from websites or uh countermand historians

6:15 or in some cases even threaten people's livelihoods.

6:19 Um and not just threaten but remove people's livelihoods.

6:24 um throughout all of this.

6:26 So there there's actually quite a lot

6:28 of historical destruction that this administration has done.

6:31 And since it's the end of the year,

6:33 the first year of the second Trump administration,

6:36 it's kind of time to talk about all of this.

6:39 And you will see it is quite a lot.

6:42 And so with each one of these, I'm going to have

6:45 this little bullet point right here um for what we kind of find.

6:50 So, I also want you guys to participate

6:54 in this in in this discussion of what exactly is going on here,

6:59 like what each of these things say about what MAGA thinks is woke history.

7:05 Um, and so that's that's going to be the pime

7:10 that's going to be what this stream primarily is.

7:15 But as is traditional with all streams and especially with something like

7:19 this, it's going to take a little bit of booze to get through.

7:22 So, um I'm going to be drinking um some wine from uh from Tobin James,

7:29 if you guys know the winery.

7:30 Um I was there just a few weeks ago.

7:34 Um so I came back with a case of their uh what's called their Chateau Lashflow.

7:41 I've already opened this one from a few days ago.

7:43 So, um that's uh that's what I'll be

7:48 drinking today is Tobin James Chateau L Cash Flow.

7:52 Um obviously a joke name, but if you've ever been to Tobin James,

7:57 you know that the place is a bit of a party inside.

8:01 Um and I always get the uh remove the air

8:07 from this so that it will stay uh good for longer.

8:13 Um, but I have another bottle of it here for once I finish

8:17 that cuz I'm guessing that this live stream will take about oh 3 hours.

8:25 Uh, that's my guess.

8:28 We'll we'll see how quickly I can get through all

8:31 of this and how quickly I can react to your guys's comments and that.

8:34 It's I will obviously end up uh end up having to skip quite a few.

8:41 Um so, you know, it's going to it's going to be uh

8:47 tricky because I need to uh there's there's a lot of comments.

8:53 So, if I want you guys to participate in it,

8:56 but I have to be able to read them quickly.

8:59 Um so if it uh if it is a co if it is a uh comment directly about

9:08 the particular um the particular uh uh [clears throat]

9:16 one of the particulars that uh that I am covering.

9:20 Please put a note at the beginning of your uh of your comment of um

9:27 simply just um you know simply just put a note something along the lines of uh

9:35 #interpret or or something along those lines uh so that I can cach that you mean

9:43 that you're directly referring to this the interpretation

9:47 of these uh of these events and regulations.

9:51 Okay, that way I can catch it a little bit more easily as it's scrolling by.

9:57 Um because we have a lot to go through

9:59 and there's going to be a lot of comments.

10:03 Is alcohol woke?

10:04 [laughter] Um uh I mean alcohol kind of makes you unwoke, doesn't it?

10:15 It makes you fall asleep pretty easily.

10:17 So I mean that's the Nyquil.

10:20 The main thing that makes you drowsy in Nyquil is just the alcohol.

10:24 So cheers to that.

10:27 It's drowsiness inducing [laughter] which is the opposite of woke I think.

10:34 Also uh thank you for the uh super sticker there uh uh D.

10:38 Harrison.

10:40 Um, I'll try and uh and uh prioritize uh super chats

10:49 uh as best I can as we go through all of this.

10:53 But before I uh before I go into any of these, uh is there anything in terms

11:04 of the format that you guys have a question

11:06 about before we start ripping into all of these headlines?

11:10 Um, and keep in mind it's it's typical for me to uh it's difficult for me

11:17 to keep up with all the comments because I have to read them all really quick.

11:20 Um uh can do count cheers the same as super chats?

11:39 I uh I don't actually know if that uh do I I don't know if that shows up.

11:46 Um, I I don't think I've ever had anybody cheers on Twitch while

11:51 I've been streaming on through uh cuz I'm using a service called Streamyard.

11:56 Um, and so Streamyard has like it highlights super chats.

12:02 I hope it does for for Twitch, but I don't think it's ever actually happened.

12:07 So, you know, we'll see.

12:09 We'll see.

12:10 Um, okay.

12:15 So, you are testing it and I'm not seeing it.

12:19 So, I guess I have to keep the stream manager open over here.

12:27 Huh.

12:28 Yeah, it didn't show up.

12:30 Um, it just says cheer cheer one.

12:35 Cheer one.

12:36 Cheer one.

12:37 [laughter] But I can see it over uh I could see it by going over here.

12:43 So, I guess I just have to keep this tab open as well.

12:46 Um, I'll move that over there.

12:51 So, um, [clears throat] yeah.

13:01 And, uh, to Tommy, it's a or Tommy [laughter]

13:06 that looks like a picture of, uh, of, um, George R.

13:11 Martin.

13:12 Um the uh but um it shows up as just a comment.

13:19 Streamyard actually highlights these such as this one

13:23 right here from Gumball who asked,

13:25 "What do you think about the oil tanker seizure?

13:28 It's very blatantly illegal." Um but here's the thing.

13:35 If Trump declares a uh declares a um uh what's it called?

13:42 Uh uh uh not embargo.

13:45 Uh what's the thing when you a blockade?

13:47 If he if he declares a blockade um one, we would have to be in a state of war

13:56 for any other nation to regard that as legal.

13:59 Um and two uh he would then be able to seize it seize any ships legally.

14:08 So that's that is the the actual international law for for doing that.

14:15 But we are very clearly not doing anything legally here.

14:20 So yeah, it's a it's a blatant war crime.

14:24 I you know we've been doing that for quite a while.

14:29 Uh, and we'll just get away with it because America um laws are woke.

14:40 [laughter] [gasps] Um, Trump is woke.

14:47 [laughter] Um, [snorts] yeah.

14:52 And by the way, as as Helen here points out, Helen is is uh uh well,

14:59 she hasn't gotten published yet, but she's well on her way to getting published.

15:02 So, I'll just say she's a pirate historian.

15:05 Um and yeah, uh this is very clearly

15:08 not piracy as some people have been claiming.

15:11 That's just it it just isn't.

15:13 Uh it's it's a different crime.

15:16 [laughter] Um, you could say that it's uh being what's the word for it?

15:24 Uh, being a corsair or a privateeer.

15:28 Uh, but the military cannot be pirates.

15:32 Like just pure and simple that like that is not possible.

15:39 Um, [clears throat] so Uh, I was trying to get to the the first article,

15:51 but uh, Gumball has another thing to say on that.

15:54 Wasn't the oil taker a sanctioned ghost ship?

15:58 I have no clue.

15:59 I'm not I'm a historian.

16:01 I'm I can only see the news that you guys do.

16:05 Um, you know, I'm not I I'm not even

16:10 particularly up on the news most of the time.

16:12 I watch Philip DeFranco.

16:13 [laughter] Uh, so you know,

16:17 not not like I'm trying to keep up with the news as fast as it's happening.

16:22 I'm I people who join me on my Twitch streams.

16:25 I have a weekly Twitch stream where I play video games on Wednesdays uh 600 p.m.

16:32 uh uh Mountain Time,

16:34 though it might be switching to 6 PM uh Pacific time because

16:38 I will be I'm likely to move back to Las Vegas fairly soon.

16:43 Um, but uh, yeah, it happens all

16:47 the time on there where somebody will comment like, "Did you hear about this?

16:50 Did you hear about this?" And I'll just be like,

16:52 and they'll post a link and then I find out on stream.

16:55 [laughter] It happens all the time.

16:57 Also, uh, Whoa, it's already getting warm in here.

17:02 But uh [clears throat] the uh so let's uh

17:12 yeah and by the way for those who don't know

17:14 I live in Albuquerque right now but uh they

17:16 and we will actually be talking a little bit about this.

17:19 they the I was working at the University of New Mexico,

17:23 but uh they downsized all the adjunct professors and um

17:28 basically if you had you know first in first out kind of thing and I'm not uh I

17:35 only been working there as an adjunct since uh 2023.

17:40 So I I didn't get it and uh and so I need a job.

17:45 [laughter] So that's why I'm going back to being a teacher.

17:49 um rather than a professor.

17:51 So, I'll be moving back to Las Vegas to do that.

17:55 Um [snorts] there's still some other job prospects, so it's not final,

18:01 but uh that seems to be the most uh that seems to be the most

18:06 uh likely thing since I'm not getting

18:09 another uh position here in uh Albuquerque.

18:13 Um and it doesn't seem like I'll be getting I have a few possibilities.

18:18 I have a couple of interviews coming up and everything,

18:21 but I've been interviewing for two years and it's just,

18:23 you know, it's getting tiresome.

18:26 Um, so let's hop into the first thing um the first batch of stuff

18:34 I want to talk about that the uh that the White House has been censoring,

18:39 which is uh public history institutions.

18:44 So many of you might have heard of this the uh uh

18:50 that Trump um [clears throat] wrote a uh wrote an exe an executive

18:57 order demanding that the Smithsonian overhaul um overhaul its e uh exhibition

19:07 um specifically because he says that it's uh that it's too woke.

19:13 book.

19:14 Um, and so, you know, first of all, uh,

19:22 I have to point out this is very much censorship.

19:26 This is this is, uh,

19:27 the Smithsonian is supposed to be fairly independent of the executive branch.

19:32 Uh, so a president demanding a particular interpretation is

19:38 a massive overstep of the founding charter of the Smithsonian.

19:42 and its various uh museums.

19:45 So, this is right out the gate just a massive move for censorship.

19:54 Um, so, uh, let's read through this article to get

19:57 a little bit of an understanding of what specifically he's demanding.

20:02 Um, so, uh, let me, uh,

20:11 read some of this and then I will try to catch up with the comments.

20:14 Uh, so Trump Smithsonian overhaul a bit like censorship, former staff warned.

20:20 The White House announced it would institute a review

20:23 of Smithsonian museums to ensure they display historically accurate information.

20:28 Uh, the Smithsonian,

20:30 according to uh former senior historian and curator David C.

20:34 Ward, is the greatest museum in the world.

20:35 Yeah.

20:36 Yeah.

20:36 Yeah.

20:37 Uh, and the Smithsonian doesn't need to be made great again.

20:41 The Smithsonian is great, said Ward.

20:44 Uh, it's a complex of museums that does everything.

20:47 So, yeah, basically you guys know what the Smithsonian is.

20:50 I don't think we need to um we

20:53 don't need to go over everything that it includes.

20:57 you know, you have everything from the National Air and Space Museum,

21:01 which is my favorite of them,

21:03 all the way to, you know, like the National Art Gallery.

21:06 Um, and it also sponsors a bunch of research and all that kind of stuff.

21:12 So, it's all it it is a museum.

21:14 So, it is uh it is tasked with preserving its artifacts.

21:18 That's its main function.

21:19 But you have to research what all that means in order to make such exhibition.

21:25 So um so Ward is one of a growing group

21:31 of historians decrying Donald Trump's increasingly attacks on the institution.

21:35 In a letter sent to the Smithsonian last month,

21:38 Trump announced a review of museums ahead the 250th anniversary.

21:43 Museums uh posted on the White House's website.

21:46 It says, "Museums should begin implementing content corrections where necessary,

21:52 replacing divisive or ideologically driven language." There,

21:58 notice notice that divisive or ideologically driven language with unifying,

22:06 historically accurate and constructive descriptions across placards,

22:12 wall didact didactics.

22:16 digital wall displays, digital displays and other public facing materials.

22:23 Um in March the he had issued

22:27 an executive order which threatened the prohibition of ex

22:32 expenditure on exhibits or programs which degrade

22:36 American values and divide Americans based on race.

22:41 So, this is that old tired nonsense that if

22:47 you talk about uh our history of racism, then that's anti-white.

22:54 Um, so, you know, that's uh pretty

23:00 much anytime somebody invokes the term anti-white,

23:04 you could pretty much guarantee that they're just being a racist.

23:08 It's almost always there is there are cases in which

23:12 people are being absolutely anti-white but not at the Smithson

23:16 not from the Smithsonian's actual interpretations that just plain

23:21 is not happening um as we will find out.

23:25 Uh so you know and here's a link to that actual uh uh executive

23:33 order where it was called restoring truth and sanity to the to American history.

23:41 That's literally the title of it.

23:44 It's an executive order.

23:46 Um, and it says, you know, by my blah blah blah, over the past decade,

23:52 Americans have witnessed a concerted and widespread

23:54 effort to rewrite our nation's history,

23:56 replacing objective facts with a distorted

23:59 narrative driven by ideology rather than truth.

24:02 This revisionist movement seeks to undermine

24:05 the remarkable achievements of the United

24:07 States by casting its founding principles

24:09 and historical milestones in a negative light.

24:12 Under this historical revision,

24:14 our nation's unparalleled legacy of advancing liberty,

24:18 individual rights, and human happiness is reconstructed as inherently racist,

24:23 sexist, and oppressive or otherwise irredeemably flawed rather than

24:28 fostering unity and a deep understanding of our shared past,

24:31 the widespread effort to rewrite history,

24:33 rewrite uh deepens societal divides and fosters a sense of national shame,

24:39 disregarding the progress America has and the ideals

24:43 that continue to inspire millions around the globe.

24:46 So like don't talk about racism.

24:50 That's what he's saying.

24:51 That we can't talk about the dark parts of history because that isn't unifying.

24:57 that's pushing a divisive narrative that um

25:01 that you know the fact that we actually have

25:06 institutional racism still and institutional sexism and other

25:13 forms of oppression still baked into our institutions, let alone our culture.

25:18 Um that that can't be spoken of whatsoever.

25:24 So for the first thing is systemic

25:30 racism is woke and speaking of oppression whatsoever.

25:48 So these are the kinds of things I want to find

25:51 is literally what they consider woke and needs to be censored.

25:57 They need to literally censor wokeness out of history because

26:03 apparently any mention of systemic racism or oppression whatsoever is woke.

26:16 Okay.

26:17 So, that's what I'm looking for uh in all this.

26:20 That's the uh that's the first example.

26:23 Now, I need to catch up on on comments um because there's been quite a lot.

26:29 Remember to put like hashtag interpret or whatever

26:33 for so that I can find it a lot easier.

26:36 Um so, I'm just trying to get through all of this.

26:44 Um remember [clears throat] to to put in like uh hashtag

26:53 interpret or something so that I can find it more easily.

26:57 Um [snorts] And by the way, yeah, exactly.

27:21 Here, winker tanker.

27:23 [laughter] I love that name.

27:26 Winker tanker.

27:27 Absolutely.

27:28 And here's the thing,

27:29 like there's a lot of our history that we should feel some sort of guilt for.

27:34 like as a nation we have those dark marks

27:38 on our history and there there's no getting over that.

27:41 And so like you can't just wave it away

27:47 and call it woke to to elucidate that history.

27:53 It it is far more divisive to hide it.

27:58 So all this talk about division and unity

28:01 uh is impossible made impossible by this nonsense.

28:06 Um is there so uh NetPad says is there any

28:13 meaningful difference between the terms

28:14 woke social justice and politically correct?

28:18 Not really.

28:19 Um not not really at all.

28:23 It's just the the new you know larger boogeyman.

28:27 You know, it's the same thing with like DEI

28:29 where they try to uh or CRT and you know,

28:33 it's just a bunch of buzzwords to and that's

28:35 what we're here to discover what they're using

28:38 those buzzword buzzwords to cover up cuz mind you

28:42 this is ultimately about censorship and censorship of history.

28:47 You know, obviously the one thing this channel is

28:49 completely about and I have dedicated a career to.

28:53 Um, there's been a couple of uh super chats I need to go over.

28:59 So, uh, the first one comes from, uh, McDevin saying,

29:03 "Will I react to Glenn Beck's interview with AI George Washington?" Uh,

29:08 no, I don't plan to.

29:09 Uh, [laughter] I I heard about that, but it just sounds terrible.

29:14 Um, I I did a thing a while back and we we'll

29:18 talk a little bit about this when we get to the 250th anniversary,

29:22 but uh I did a a live stream a while back about how

29:25 the White House is pushing PragerU propaganda and they're using AI to do so.

29:30 So the um so the uh I did react to that a bit.

29:36 Um, for those who were there,

29:38 they might remember uh there was one part where they

29:41 straight up have freaking John Adams literally uh quote Ben Shapiro.

29:50 I'm not joking.

29:51 They have John Adams quote Ben Shapiro.

29:56 It It's so bad.

29:57 So, if you want to see me react to that, there's that live stream.

30:01 um you know so uh but I don't feel

30:05 like subjecting myself to that much uh mental anguish today

30:10 I there's already enough [laughter] um and checks and balance

30:17 checks and balance says is posttruth politics just censor censorship

30:22 in disguise I don't know what post-truth politics are

30:26 I don't really like the whole to back in 2017

30:30 that became uh a huge buzzword on the left was

30:34 the uh was posttruth that we're in a post-truth world.

30:40 You saw all these Oh, that is a good one.

30:43 Um you saw all these big um opeds and all that kind

30:48 of stuff about like how we're living in post-truth politics and all that.

30:52 It's like it's just lying.

30:54 Just just call it what it is.

30:56 [laughter] Um, you know, so I if you're talking about like is

31:05 uh calling everything woke a form of censorship?

31:09 Yeah, absolutely.

31:09 And that's what we're getting into here.

31:12 Um, you know, as as we saw with the uh with the um and uh and yellow galaxy,

31:29 is this plain censorship and authoritarian?

31:32 I think you meant authoritarianism.

31:34 Um, and like yeah, you could you can say that it's authoritarianism.

31:39 Sure, it's it I mean Trump is an authoritarian.

31:41 He's a fascist like pure and simple,

31:44 but like um you know that's not like we're not here

31:51 to talk about like how this relates to the fascist project.

31:54 I have a book in the description that is uh that does

31:58 talk about how uh erasing history is very much part of fascism,

32:02 but like today we're just talking about the actual eraser [snorts]

32:06 um rather than uh rather than um you know any uh specifics.

32:16 [snorts] All right.

32:19 So, oh boy, people are having fun with the whole 67 thing.

32:29 Um, oh, and Helen uh does Helen say was how was how was

32:36 the Smithsonian handled the Inola gay in the 1990s actually woke his or Okay,

32:43 I see how it was how the Smithsonian handled the inola.

32:48 So the whole Anola gay fiasco in the in uh

32:50 like 1994 95 um where the script leaked before

32:56 the exhibit was put out and it was not

32:58 a the initial script was pretty bad to be perfectly frank.

33:02 Um but like um the uh I don't think it

33:11 w uh that would really work today in the way

33:15 that everything the way that the administration is doing it

33:18 because the administration basically had nothing to do with that controversy.

33:24 Congress got involved but no but but uh but the uh Clinton did not.

33:31 Um he he still stayed well away from all of it.

33:35 [laughter] Uh so uh so for the uh for the first couple we have uh you

33:48 know the obvious stuff systemic uh any mention

33:51 of systemic racism or oppression whatsoever is divisive.

33:57 Um, so after this all kind of blew up, um, you know,

34:06 with with like these kinds of articles talking about like how, uh,

34:11 he tried to fire the the National Portrait Gallery director um,

34:17 and she stepped down on her own because uh

34:21 because she didn't want to deal with all the nonsense.

34:25 Uh and uh you know there was uh they pulled an upcoming exhibit because

34:36 it was you know too woke but like they didn't exactly explain what that was.

34:42 It just said that the museum considered removing a painting depicting

34:46 a transgender woman as the Statue of Liberty because transgender is woke.

34:53 All right.

34:53 Well, there we go.

34:54 There's another one.

34:56 Transgender ju just the existence of transgender people is woke.

35:04 Uh and uh you know, let's see here.

35:10 Then we have at the National Museum of American History,

35:14 uh they just were talking about it sounds like censorship.

35:19 Yeah.

35:19 Yeah.

35:20 Yeah.

35:21 But most of this is about threats.

35:25 Um, as you can see, very little of it has anything to do with any specifics.

35:34 So after the outrage built up on all

35:36 of this, the White House actually uh uh released

35:43 a list of things that um that uh

35:48 was specific examples of woke history at the Smithsonian.

35:54 Um, and uh when was the last time

36:04 uh blatant censorship h of history happened like this?

36:08 Uh, it happens all the time.

36:11 I mean, literally, but just not on this scale.

36:13 It's it's never been this much of an onslaught.

36:16 Um, anyways, uh, this is directly from the White House.

36:21 This is their actual statement.

36:23 So, mind you, I uh I already had somebody before I even

36:28 started live streaming try to claim that I was strawmaning the the argument.

36:34 And it's like piss off.

36:35 I'm actually going to read their actual statements.

36:37 You can't straw man them when you just read what they have to say.

36:41 So, uh these are examples of um of you

36:47 know how President Trump is right about the Smithsonian.

36:51 So, the National Museum of the African-American and Culture debuted a series

36:55 to educate people on a society that privileges white people and whiteness.

37:01 Uh, so-called white dominant culture.

37:05 Uh, so, you know, white people and their traditions,

37:09 attitudes, and ways of life have been normalized over time.

37:12 This is actually indisputably indisputable fact.

37:17 So this is once again just systemic racism is woke and cannot be abided by.

37:24 So once again they are literally calling for the eraser of history here.

37:29 Um there's no ifs, ands, or buts.

37:32 Here it is in their own words.

37:36 you know that it they were that the Smithsonian had an exhibit

37:40 that was showing that you know the National [clears throat] Museum

37:44 of the African-American which you know is [laughter] is obviously going to talk

37:50 about this um the ways in which white people and their traditions,

37:55 attitudes and ways of life have been normalized over time.

37:58 um that and so you know and how thing concepts like

38:05 the nuclear family work ethic and intellect as white qualities rooted in racism.

38:12 Um you know nothing wrong with that.

38:16 In fact it's quite accurate uh to say that.

38:20 So they're literally just denying history here.

38:23 That's their first example.

38:25 their their first example is literally denying history.

38:30 Um, so next, as part of its campaign to stop being wealthy, pale, and male,

38:40 the National Portrait Gallery featured choreographed modern dance

38:45 performance detailing the ramifications of the southern border wall

38:51 and commission entire series to examine American portraiture

38:56 and institutional history through the lens of historical exclusion.

39:00 So the border now is we've already got

39:06 in this one we got systemic racism uh the border

39:15 I guess and exclusion which you know yeah we

39:24 literally have exclusion laws still like [snorts] Come on.

39:31 Trump even p uh even uh issued more exclusion when he assumed office.

39:38 So this is just true once again.

39:45 Um and we have the uh the American History Museum

39:53 prominently displays the Interex Inclusive Progress flag at its entrance.

39:58 which al was also flown alongside

40:01 the American flag at multiple Smithsonian campuses.

40:06 So, pride flags are woke.

40:12 I don't know why this is a problem.

40:19 Like, why is this a problem?

40:25 You know, they're complaining that oh no,

40:28 they sometime oh [clears throat] never fund the Federalist by the way.

40:32 That is a terrible organization.

40:34 Notice that they're they're quoting the Federalist here.

40:37 Um [cough] but the um you know the they're saying that this is

40:45 promoting homosexuality and maligning the American flag

40:50 like that somehow malign the American flag.

40:55 Hey guys, putting the American flag at the top of the Smithsonian flag.

41:03 I guess I guess the Smithsonian flag itself is too woke too

41:08 because you know they could actually be saying like look they're maligning

41:15 the Smith they're maligning the pride flag here by making it so

41:20 that the uh that the freaking Smithsonian is more important than pride.

41:27 [laughter] [gasps] Like that's that is actually what that means.

41:32 If when you when you hoist flags, whichever one is on top is it's literally

41:38 a hierarchy that you are creating by doing so.

41:41 So they actually created a hierarchy here where

41:43 the Smithsonian is more important than gay people.

41:46 Um but like the uh you know that's uh that's you know just

41:54 the pride flag itself is woke according according to the actual white house.

42:03 The pride flag is woke.

42:07 Like you can't make this stuff up.

42:08 They they just this is the actual press release on this.

42:12 So I'm not I'm not strawmaning anyone.

42:15 This is literally their own statement.

42:21 Um, so the next one,

42:23 the National Portrait Gallery features arts commemorating the act

42:27 of illegally crossing the inclusive and exclusionary southern border,

42:33 even making it a finalist for one of its awards.

42:37 So, talking about people illegally crossing the border,

42:42 because that doesn't happen apparently, but we already have that on the list.

42:48 Um, apparently having portraiture that that talks about this is now too woke.

43:00 We We have to censor that.

43:02 Censor the pride flag.

43:03 censor any discussion of the border or people crossing it.

43:08 Censor the idea that whiteness exists.

43:14 Um, the National Museum of African Art displayed an exhibit on works

43:21 of speculative fiction that bring to life

43:23 an immersive feminist and sacred aquattopia.

43:28 I don't even know what that means.

43:29 Inspired by the legend of Drexia,

43:36 underwater kingdom populated by children of pregnant women who had been

43:40 thrown overboard or jumped into the sea during the middle passage.

43:45 Okay.

43:46 So now we can't talk about the the middle passage.

43:56 the the existence of the middle passage is woke, guys.

44:05 And here it is.

44:09 LGBTQ plus history is just just the entirety of it is woke.

44:21 So, the National Museum of the American

44:28 Latino features programming highlighting animated Latinos

44:32 and Latinas with disabilities with content from disabled

44:38 plus-sized actress and an ambassad ambulatory wheelchair.

44:44 So, disabilities are now woke.

44:49 Uh, so yeah.

44:58 Now, this page actually goes quite a bit longer.

45:01 I don't Oh, well, okay.

45:04 It's not that much longer.

45:08 So then the the same museum characterizes the Texas Revolution

45:14 as massive defense of slavery waged by Anglo-Saxon blah blah blah.

45:19 Okay, I actually kind of agree with the fact that the uh the um

45:26 that uh there is this growing narrative

45:30 that the Texas Revolution was primarily about slavery.

45:34 That's false.

45:36 So, you know, that that's actually a thing that is false.

45:40 But then notice they're complaining about the Mexican-American War

45:46 being depicted as a invasion from North America, which Yeah.

45:52 Yeah.

45:52 That's that's just true.

45:54 Like, what?

45:56 How can you be opposed to that?

46:00 So, I'll say Texas misinterpretation or Texas Revolution

46:13 misinterpretations and just the MexicanAmerican War is is woke.

46:30 Then a stop motion drawing animation that examines the career of Anthony Fouchy.

46:38 So just Fouchy is woke.

46:46 And the American History Museum's exhibit marking

46:51 the fifth 50th anniversary of Title 9

46:54 includes biological men competing in women's sports

46:57 and argues in favor of transgender athletes competing.

47:02 So yet again, they're just denying that transgender people exist.

47:11 Uh then the exhibit at the American History Museum depicts uh migrants

47:20 watching Independence Day fireworks through an opening

47:24 on the US Mexico border wall.

47:27 So, you know, the uh you know, talking about the prejudice of of uh

47:36 our freaking uh exclusion on the southern border.

47:41 So, just put prejudice there, too.

47:46 Prejudice and exclusion.

47:52 And of course, it's about the southern border, so it,

47:54 you know, they wouldn't dare freaking talk about the northern border.

47:59 Um, then we have the American History Museum features a display that refers

48:06 to the founding of America as a profound unsettling of the continent.

48:13 Which, yeah, that's like, isn't that the point?

48:21 I don't even know what they're complaining about here.

48:24 Like, it's a revolution.

48:28 It's supposed to un like I guess they

48:36 just have a problem with the word unsettling here.

48:42 I'm I'm genuinely confused by this.

48:46 Uh if anybody wants to try to uh

48:49 explain why this is a problem, it's a revolution.

48:53 It's supposed to unsettle things.

48:55 Duh.

48:56 Like what is their problem?

49:03 Wait a second.

49:04 Is this literally just all This is literally just from the from the Federalist.

49:10 They just they just plagiarized the Federalist.

49:15 Wow.

49:18 Wow, they literally just plagiarized the Federalist.

49:44 Wow.

49:48 Like remember I clicked on this earlier?

49:51 It's literally the same article.

49:55 They just plagiarized the Federalist.

49:58 That's all they did.

49:59 Oh my god, that's so lazy.

50:06 So this one is American history museum exhibit features

50:11 a depiction of Statue of Liberty holding a tomato

50:13 in her right hand instead of a torch and basket

50:18 of tomatoes in her left hand instead of a tablet.

50:23 Uh, so tomatoes are woke.

50:32 [laughter] And finally, we get to the National Museum

50:43 of the American Latino features an anti-American exhibit,

50:47 anti-American, that defines Latino history

50:51 as centuries of victimhood and exploitation.

50:54 Oh, no.

50:56 The the fact that they've actually been discriminated against is somehow woke.

51:02 So, discrimination, which I could probably put as like

51:11 a and I didn't even spell it correctly.

51:13 Uh, so, yay.

51:18 Now, we have, you know, all of that just from that one article.

51:25 Isn't that grand?

51:26 Now I got to catch up with uh with uh comments because I've had at least

51:32 uh one super and remember to put interpret

51:37 interpret so I can find it more easily.

51:39 Um but uh we'll first go with the uh super chat which says uh

51:48 it's from Alex Kunst uh who says or KST um did project 1776 get put

51:56 into curriculum between Trump's first term and now uh no uh it it wasn't

52:04 a curriculum it wasn't possible to be curriculum

52:08 it was it gave no curriculum to do,

52:11 but we will talk about how that uh later on in the stream.

52:15 Um we'll but uh not right now.

52:18 That's that's for later on.

52:21 Uh jumping ahead.

52:23 Um so [snorts] just try to catch up on on um on chat.

52:39 Um, so it sounds like uh Denver Bear Hunter says,

52:46 "It sounds like woke is just uh what

52:48 most people call empathy for others without exclusion.

52:57 In fact, you know, I'm going to copy that down.

53:00 Um, I'll just have put like a overall interpretations.

53:20 Um, empathy for others without exclusion.

53:33 It's a good point.

53:37 Let me continue trying to read through all these.

53:40 Um, And yeah, I've I've been like I I made this joke about

54:04 the whole uh his executive order about the Smithsonian uh when that happened.

54:12 Uh let me try to find that.

54:13 I I made a joke about that uh pretty much the day of um Oops.

54:23 Let me try to find it real quick.

54:26 Um so something that you can always do

54:30 is just go search posts and [snorts] Maybe degenerate.

54:46 Ah yeah.

54:48 So coming soon to a museum near you an exhibition on degenerate art

54:52 by order by often um which means like uh our most wanted fur,

55:06 our most wanted leader um in German.

55:09 But, you know, or no, not most wanted, wannabe, our wannabe furer.

55:15 Um, by order of our wannabe uh uh pres uh leader.

55:25 So, yeah, [laughter] I made that joke as soon as it happened.

55:32 Uh [laughter] that human being says [gasps] uh narcolep Y is a disability.

56:03 And remember they label disabilities as woke.

56:07 Um that uh that narcolepsy is a disability

56:11 and it is decidedly the opposite of woke.

56:14 [laughter] [gasps] [snorts] Let's see here.

56:36 Oh boy, there's a lot to catch up on.

57:02 Oh, and uh Alex, the reason why you uh asked that uh

57:07 thing about the 1776 project is that you're uh currently an education student.

57:12 Uh well, if you go and look at the actual uh 1776 brochure uh that was released,

57:20 I believe on MLK day in 2021, um just a extra punch in the face.

57:27 Uh it it it's not implementable.

57:31 You can you can go read it yourself or you can go to my live stream

57:35 where I actually read the entire thing live

57:39 um and then uploaded that whole thing here.

57:42 So that's actually like that's on this channel.

57:44 You can go watch that.

57:45 But like it's it's not implementable as a uh as a thing.

57:50 Um all right.

57:59 So let's go to the next one.

58:01 the next article which is uh Trump's chilling

58:05 effect on um on museums from all of this.

58:12 So realize something that we have to understand about this is the Smithsonian

58:17 is basically the uh premier public

58:21 history institution in the entire United States.

58:24 So what happens to it has a knock-on effect on down the line.

58:30 Um, you know, if if museum directors find it uh

58:36 find uh certain topics to be forboten because of all

58:41 of this, suddenly we will have this chilling effect across the uh

58:46 across the United States regardless of actual affiliation with the Smithsonian.

58:52 Now also most institutions uh most uh major

58:57 public history institutions actually have um agreements of like

59:03 uh uh artifact sharing and uh and uh

59:07 and research and help in research with the Smithsonian.

59:11 Uh, for instance, my dad's uh uh museum

59:14 back in uh Clark County um Clark County, Nevada,

59:19 uh the Clark County Museum actually flew the Smithsonian flag from it

59:24 from the entrance to the offices because they had such an agreement.

59:30 uh p pottery in particular.

59:32 They were uh they were in they were interested in sharing

59:36 [snorts] um and uh you know that was that c

59:42 uh so like understand this isn't just uh like oh that's

59:47 happening over there we don't have to pay attention to it.

59:50 It affects the entire public history profession um especially museums.

59:56 So you will see a chilling effect throughout

59:59 [snorts] museums throughout the United States as people

1:00:02 become concerned about standing up to this eraser

1:00:08 um and will self censor as a consequence.

1:00:16 [sighs] And uh yes uh Alex uh uh and my dad did retire,

1:00:26 but it it's not like the museum retired with him.

1:00:30 [laughter] Um but uh [snorts] Oh,

1:00:37 and uh thank you there uh Maximu or Maximus [laughter] Mama Maximus.

1:00:48 Uh thank you Um uh every little bit helps especially in keeping

1:00:55 this channel afloat because it has not been doing well views wise.

1:01:00 Um so uh let's let's just read the first couple of things because here we're

1:01:08 not going to here we're not going to really find much of what MAGA calls woke.

1:01:13 It's more just I need to show you that this has a knock-on effect.

1:01:18 Um, so historians and researchers are expressing grave concern about

1:01:22 President Trump's push to purge museums of information he dislikes.

1:01:28 Such political interference stands to impose a single

1:01:31 and flawed view of American history under the Smithsonian,

1:01:34 placing at risk the integrity and accuracy of historical interpretation.

1:01:39 Sarah Wol uh uh executive director

1:01:42 of the American Historical Association um told CNN Wednesday.

1:01:46 I don't actually know who she is uh but she's we'll actually get

1:01:51 to how the AHA is responding to all this in a little bit.

1:01:54 For those who don't know,

1:01:56 the American Historical Association is the uh is basically the uh

1:02:01 kind of primary organization for historians in the United States.

1:02:08 Uh so they uh they host an annual conference.

1:02:13 Most uh fac most uh tenure faculty or tenure track

1:02:18 faculty will be members of the AHA dues paying members

1:02:22 and um you know it's kind of the highlight

1:02:25 of a lot of people's career if they become AHA president.

1:02:28 Uh we've even had a couple of of American

1:02:31 presidents who were uh presidents of the American Historical Association.

1:02:36 One was Teddy Roosevelt, the other was Wilson.

1:02:41 So the uh so this is you know quite a prestigious organization and when they

1:02:48 respond in this way it's it's kind

1:02:50 of like speaking for the entire history profession.

1:02:56 Um as she says such actions diminish our shared past

1:03:00 and threaten to erode the public's trust in our shared institutions.

1:03:04 Um she goes on to say many of them are uh wait uh said she has been

1:03:13 fielding messages of concern not just from fellow historians

1:03:17 but also from people who with no professional affiliation.

1:03:21 Many of them are parents who are concerned about the Smithsonian's future.

1:03:25 Others are frequent museum visitors.

1:03:28 Um on Tuesday, Trump called museums the last remaining segment of woke.

1:03:35 We are not going to allow this to happen.

1:03:39 He has was seemingly following up on last week's letter blah blah blah.

1:03:44 You know, so so you know this this is about how the uh AHA is responding.

1:03:51 Oh, and I think I just saw ASL.

1:03:53 Yeah, cool.

1:03:54 So uh the American Association for State and Local History ASLH is another

1:04:00 um is another major uh history institution that is for state and local history.

1:04:06 So basically all your uh all the state

1:04:10 and local museums will be affiliated with this.

1:04:13 This is kind of the public history uh the the kind of major

1:04:18 public history thing for state and local history as the name uh says.

1:04:23 Um, you know, I've been to ASLH, although I haven't been to ASL,

1:04:29 uh, the their conference, although I haven't been to ASLH as a historian.

1:04:34 I went there as a child.

1:04:36 [laughter] Um, but like, uh, you know, I just got dragged to it once.

1:04:44 [laughter] Um, my father was, I believe,

1:04:49 a uh a a um a uh director of the I don't think he was president of ASL,

1:04:57 but I believe he was director of a AASLH, which are two different positions.

1:05:03 um that this this uh this onslaught is uh

1:05:09 and this is just an official statement from the ASL saying

1:05:13 that it uh delegitimalizes the work of the history field

1:05:16 and rubs the public of its ability to learn from the past.

1:05:21 Censoring and manipulating content to fit

1:05:24 a predetermined triumphalist narrative is

1:05:26 the antithesis of historical practice and a disservice to us all.

1:05:32 I don't I don't think anybody could could say it better there.

1:05:36 Uh they're saying the ultimate danger is that you

1:05:39 get an incomplete picture of what happened in the country,

1:05:44 said Annette Gordon Reed, Pulitzer Prize winning historian, blah blah blah.

1:05:48 I don't even know who she is.

1:05:51 Uh but yeah, so this is just like how the history

1:05:55 community has responded to a lot of this stuff, you know,

1:06:00 the so this is just, you know, yeah,

1:06:03 it's it's a it's telling us that this is not just about the Smithsonian.

1:06:11 The Smithsonian is symbolic of so much more.

1:06:14 [snorts] Um and as and like ASLH made it

1:06:19 pretty clear there it deitimized the work of historians.

1:06:23 It robs the public of its ability to learn from the past

1:06:27 and censoring manipulate content does is the antithesis of what we do.

1:06:35 So the main thing we can get there is just history itself.

1:06:43 it uh no uh history museum I mean museums themselves are woke according

1:06:51 to the president remember he said uh

1:06:55 where is it yeah he literally literally wrote

1:06:59 the last remaining segment of woke are

1:07:02 museums so like museums in and of themselves

1:07:07 are woke uh so the next one will uh we'll will get to national parks.

1:07:15 So the president normally shouldn't have anything

1:07:19 to do with uh interpretation at national parks.

1:07:22 That should be to uh that is ultimately to each park and its employees.

1:07:29 But he has reached down far below his level

1:07:32 to uh to try to uh steer stuff away there.

1:07:38 Um MSNBC now calls themselves MS Now.

1:07:42 That's annoying.

1:07:43 Um, sure, why not?

1:07:45 Um, so the Trump administration reportedly

1:07:50 removed slavery history from national parks.

1:07:53 Um, Donald Trump's war on history appears to have

1:07:57 widened with the Washington Post reporting that his administration

1:08:02 has ordered the removal of multiple signs and exhibits

1:08:05 at national parks related to the history of slavery.

1:08:09 Um, this is probably just the Is this uh Oh, okay.

1:08:19 Don't need that.

1:08:20 Um, the Post uh reported that these moves are

1:08:25 the result of a deranged executive order Trump signed in March.

1:08:31 Oh, yeah.

1:08:31 Saying that like, you know, all this stuff.

1:08:34 Um, I've written about previous I don't care about your opinions.

1:08:38 Uh that so um as a what do you

1:08:48 mean the Trump administration has ordered the removal of silence

1:08:52 blah blah blah um including the historic photograph

1:08:56 of a formerly enslaved man showing scars on his back.

1:08:59 So yeah they actually ordered the removal

1:09:02 of the the the censorship of this image.

1:09:06 Now, this is uh this is an image uh known as Black

1:09:10 Pete uh but an actual person who escaped slavery during the Civil

1:09:16 War and came across uh Union lines and was photographed

1:09:19 with his uh back severely scoured from all the whippings he had received.

1:09:25 Um this is real history and it played an important part in the war.

1:09:33 like this helped change uh northerners minds in terms

1:09:38 of how abhorrent the uh the uh institution of slavery was.

1:09:46 Um because the the uh uh emancipate

1:09:50 the the the confiscation acts and the uh not confiscation acts,

1:09:56 what are they called?

1:09:57 The the um the contraband acts.

1:10:00 Yeah, the contraband acts and then the uh

1:10:03 emancipation proclamation were actually quite controversial in the north.

1:10:09 Um, and this helped uh fment enough uh enough people

1:10:16 to uh who saw it printed in newspapers and everything

1:10:21 um to change their opinions on on how abhorentt

1:10:26 slavery was and the need to do something about it.

1:10:31 um ultimately resulting in the 13th amendment,

1:10:34 the abolition of slavery, not just in the South, but everywhere.

1:10:39 Um so the uh so he actually had this removed from a plaque like by direct order.

1:10:51 Insane.

1:10:52 That should just that simply should not happen.

1:10:55 So, uh, slavery itself is is woke.

1:11:06 Um, and I thought this was going to be the thing where he said that like

1:11:12 we uh there was a thing I remember I thought this article would have it,

1:11:20 but uh there was a point where he said uh

1:11:23 that like uh that slavery was was uh that like there's

1:11:31 that nobody's focusing on the nice parts of history or something

1:11:36 like that um uh so Trump slavery uh nice I guess.

1:11:51 Um and go to okay so here we go.

1:12:00 Um Trump escalates attack.

1:12:03 Is this already in here?

1:12:05 No, it's not.

1:12:07 So, this is more what I was talking about.

1:12:11 Um, so at the National Museum

1:12:16 of the African-American uh history and culture, you know,

1:12:21 you'd think that there'd be quite a bit

1:12:22 of a focus on slavery for obvious reasons.

1:12:25 Um, but Trump said in a truth social post, uh,

1:12:32 the Smithsonian is out of control where

1:12:34 everything discusses how horrible our country is,

1:12:37 how bad slavery was, and how unaccomplished and downtrodden uh have been,

1:12:46 people have been, I guess.

1:12:48 Nothing about success, nothing about brightness, nothing about the future.

1:12:53 Uh yeah, I don't think a history museum should be about the future.

1:12:58 I you know, but I'm just a historian.

1:13:01 I I talk about history, which is what history museums should do.

1:13:07 Duh.

1:13:08 Um so yeah, uh just slavery itself.

1:13:20 I guess I have to put that here.

1:13:25 Um, so slavery itself is is woke now.

1:13:32 All right.

1:13:32 Um, let me catch up on um on uh

1:13:40 on chat reminder that uh that to put like hash interpret

1:13:47 or something along those lines if you're trying to make

1:13:49 a statement about like how to interpret these uh these uh

1:13:55 policies um you know and how to interpret what they're

1:14:00 calling woke Um so first I'll go to the super

1:14:04 chats which uh we have uh my squeezing arm says

1:14:09 uh thank you for preserving history facts as institutions falter.

1:14:12 My role is different but we will get through this together.

1:14:16 Stay strong, stay safe and thank you uh my squeezing arm.

1:14:20 Um yeah, I like it's uh it is deeply concerning um what has been what all

1:14:32 this is and you know and I will be

1:14:35 going over what how historians have been fighting back.

1:14:38 Uh but we got to get through all of this.

1:14:40 [laughter] Um, remember to put the little hashtag interpret if you

1:14:46 want me to see it as part of the interpretation here.

1:14:52 Um, why would Trump go through such Danny Ferguson says,

1:15:04 "Why would Trump go through such great lengths to hide

1:15:07 our nation's shame as he is clearly shameless?" Uh,

1:15:11 well, to me, uh, shamelessness is a virtue.

1:15:14 It's quite literally a cynical virtue.

1:15:16 So, I'm fine with shamelessness.

1:15:18 Uh I don't think we need to be ashamed.

1:15:21 I think we need to recognize our guilt.

1:15:24 Um and try to do something to amilarate it.

1:15:28 Um, you know, especially to recognize that history, that history,

1:15:32 that very plain and obvious history of of um our long history of systemic

1:15:42 racism and continuing systemic racism is to not just poof out of existence.

1:15:50 Um, and you know, the various wrongdoings of our past.

1:15:56 The only way to amilarate it is to recognize it in the first place.

1:16:00 And so that is the job of historians to do by censoring all this history.

1:16:06 We are intentionally continuing that legacy.

1:16:10 So all this talk about how all this woke history is divisive and everything,

1:16:15 it's quite the opposite.

1:16:16 To censor what they're calling woke history is

1:16:20 to be is to divide the nation further.

1:16:24 Um, so it's it it complete, you know, I'm rubber, you're glue,

1:16:29 whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you kind of thing.

1:16:33 Um, or uh uno reverse card.

1:16:39 But remember, a something that uh something that both uh that Nazis

1:16:45 very much practiced was what's called an accusation in a mirror.

1:16:49 uh an accusation in a mirror or uh basically nuh-uh you're the ones who are bad

1:16:58 basically accuse people of doing what you intend

1:17:02 to do and that is precisely think about how

1:17:06 much uh Republicans have how much time Republicans

1:17:09 have spent complaining about how they're you know

1:17:14 being censored and everything um when in reality

1:17:19 They are the ones who want to censor history.

1:17:23 Um, they are the censor sensorious ones.

1:17:27 Um, being banned off of social media is not censorship.

1:17:33 It's housekeeping.

1:17:35 [laughter] Um, you're not allowed to just walk into somebody's

1:17:39 house and start yelling whatever you whatever obscenities you want.

1:17:44 They are fully within their rights to violently evict you.

1:17:48 Um, and that's the same thing on social media.

1:17:51 Every time I hear people be like, "Oh,

1:17:54 you ban bigots and that therefore you're anti-free speech." It's like,

1:17:58 "You don't have free speech in my comments section." It's my comment section.

1:18:03 Um, so you know, they're literally doing an accusation in a mirror,

1:18:13 which I'll point out the United Nations recognizes

1:18:17 as being a pre primary uh precursor for genocide.

1:18:23 So keep that in mind.

1:18:26 um tried to keep up with everything.

1:18:38 That's actually kind of an interesting point there.

1:18:40 Uh Zeniro Zenerosur Zenos Zeneroslur.

1:18:48 [laughter] Uh the problem with the way

1:18:52 that YouTube has implemented the whole uh tag feature here is that like I'm sure

1:18:58 that actually has like spaces in your actual username,

1:19:01 but I only see the the the at thing which combines it all

1:19:05 and makes it impossible to know like how that's supposed to be said.

1:19:08 Anyways, uh so like you got a good point here where I had just written down like

1:19:15 um that slavery is but it's you know

1:19:19 that showing that sla that showing slavery is wrong.

1:19:24 Um that is woke according to the president.

1:19:31 Um that we can't talk about that.

1:19:34 That's we it's too much.

1:19:38 Oh, no.

1:19:39 Slavery is wrong.

1:19:40 How dare you?

1:19:42 Um, but like that is actually what they're saying.

1:19:44 So, you you make a good point there.

1:19:46 Um, there we go.

1:19:52 [snorts] Um, what about economic historian?

1:20:06 Like, what about them?

1:20:07 [laughter] Um, and do I have any videos about disability in the US?

1:20:19 Uh, no, I do not.

1:20:20 Um, uh, I don't think so.

1:20:24 Um, somebody could correct me if I'm wrong.

1:20:27 I literally have hundreds of of videos,

1:20:29 so like I I sometimes forget about what I've done before.

1:20:33 So there's there's a possibility that I did, but I don't think so.

1:20:37 No.

1:20:37 Um, so, uh, Kenny's Selman says, uh,

1:21:00 it's not that slavery dehumanize the enslaved,

1:21:03 it's also dehumanize everyone in the system.

1:21:05 Sure, but we're not talking about the actual

1:21:08 system of slavery and how it worked.

1:21:11 We're talking about how MAGA wants any mention of it is censored.

1:21:16 Um, okay.

1:21:25 So, oh, is did I Oh, I already got that one.

1:21:29 Okay, cool.

1:21:30 Um so let's move on to the next one where Trump is actually firing historians.

1:21:39 So this so Trump is in fact firing historians because uh

1:21:45 because uh you know he decided that they are too woke.

1:21:50 Um so uh the state department historical advisory committee puts uh unbi.

1:22:03 Now, mind you, I collected these articles not knowing what was actually in them.

1:22:08 So, I might have to go and find another article on this one

1:22:11 because this is just like a a transcript of a statement.

1:22:15 Uh Trump fired the members

1:22:19 of the the State Department's historical advisory committee.

1:22:24 Um, Trump has fired all the members of an obscure

1:22:29 committee that helps to illuminate uh, American history.

1:22:33 It's the um, it's a group of outside historians who oversee

1:22:38 the work of the State Department

1:22:40 historians who reveal old foreign policy documents.

1:22:43 They publish a uh, red volumes filled with old blah blah blah, who cares?

1:22:50 Um so uh so basically Trump fired an advisory committee of historians.

1:23:01 Um so this is directly impacting historians.

1:23:07 Uh that he is just throwing them away.

1:23:11 um he doesn't think that outsiders,

1:23:15 outside uh historians should be uh allowed to uh work in here.

1:23:20 So uh and this is part of his whole restoring truth and sanity initiative.

1:23:25 So um once again uh advice is woke.

1:23:37 That's all I could get from that.

1:23:39 Um, I don't think we need to go too deep into this one.

1:23:43 It's just one oh, one advisory committee that he fired.

1:23:50 Um, okay.

1:23:53 Technically, the president has the power to do

1:23:55 that, but the fact that he's complaining that they even are advising,

1:23:59 it's kind of the way that he went after all

1:24:01 the uh all the um all the uh what's it called?

1:24:07 um the investigator generals.

1:24:11 Yeah, he he fired all he illegally fired

1:24:14 a bunch of investigator generals um and um

1:24:20 and tried to say that they were uh that the their oversight was not needed.

1:24:27 So um literally the people who were

1:24:31 in charge of uh investigating corruption and fraud,

1:24:36 he said that they shouldn't be around.

1:24:39 So this is kind of the same deal, part of the same tactic.

1:24:44 You can't you don't have the right to advise me on history.

1:24:48 No.

1:24:49 Um so once again, this one's pretty cut and dry.

1:24:53 just advice is unwelcome to uh in the from historians.

1:24:59 I should probably say historians advice.

1:25:06 All right.

1:25:06 So, uh uh since that was so quick, uh me, uh make let me catch up with comments.

1:25:17 There's a [sighs and gasps] lot.

1:25:22 then we shall see.

1:25:28 Uh, so firing historians isn't just a US issue.

1:25:31 It's happening worldwide.

1:25:33 Sure.

1:25:34 Yeah, it's I mean that's a thing,

1:25:36 but like it's we're talking about a uh we're talking about

1:25:43 um the the fact that he's firing historians because they're advisers.

1:25:50 like he literally fired historians because they're advisers.

1:25:53 That's inordinately bad.

1:25:56 Um, and seems and yeah, that's uh well, heck, I'll I'll write that down as uh

1:26:33 as anything that anything that challenges ultraationalism because yeah,

1:26:54 that's that that is an overall interpretation of this thus far.

1:26:57 Uh so let's go to the next one.

1:27:00 Um from the LA Times, it's uh Trump has big plans

1:27:05 for America's next birthday and historians have questions.

1:27:08 Uh so, uh this I'm not going to go too deep into because uh I did an entire

1:27:20 uh an entire um live stream on on what

1:27:24 they're doing with this somewhat specifically focused on PragerU.

1:27:29 They are actually uh there's exhibits in uh in the uh uh

1:27:37 Eisenhower building right now uh made with AI from Prageru because Prageru has

1:27:47 their own AI now of course um can't you can't grift without

1:27:52 AI these days but as you can see they contracted with Hillsdale college,

1:28:00 a fake college that um you know that was uh

1:28:05 kind of the major institute that advised on uh project 2025.

1:28:10 Um many of you guys might remember that live stream.

1:28:13 So I don't really want to go too deep into this.

1:28:15 Basically it's just going to be a bunch of uh

1:28:20 of uh conservative pro uh well not really conservative but fascist propaganda.

1:28:25 fascist um fascist and reactionary propaganda.

1:28:29 Um so this isn't really a uh this isn't

1:28:33 really another thing where we can find an interpretation here.

1:28:37 Um it's just more of the same thing

1:28:41 that I already highlighted in a previous stream.

1:28:46 So um that means that we can finally move on to the next banner.

1:28:51 [laughter] Although I did see that there was

1:28:53 a couple more uh interpretations that I should read.

1:28:58 Um finding what words mean uh from trying

1:29:06 to get third term challenge what elected means

1:29:09 by p by to bypassing laws or twisting laws

1:29:14 based they they want to believe or not 101.

1:29:17 Yeah.

1:29:18 I mean, basically, um, you know,

1:29:21 to gain power in whichever way possible, you know,

1:29:24 um, and Alex says, uh, uh, or just anything I don't like is woke.

1:29:31 I mean, yeah.

1:29:32 Yeah, it's basically that.

1:29:34 Um, uh, and, uh, Alex says over on Twitch, uh,

1:29:45 exhibits that are just photos and plaques of QR codes.

1:29:50 I mean, yeah, that's that there's actually a lot of museums that do that.

1:29:55 So, yeah, I mean, it's also a digital exhibit.

1:29:59 That's kind of the whole point of it.

1:30:01 And there's plenty of museums that do that.

1:30:02 That's not That's That's actually been a thing for almost a decade.

1:30:06 Like I remember when uh when um the Oh, what the heck is it called?

1:30:14 Um the Autry Museum.

1:30:17 Yeah, the Autry Museum did something like that back in like 2013.

1:30:24 Like it was like a real like pathbreaking exhibit in terms of using QR codes.

1:30:31 uh because QR codes had like literally

1:30:34 just been invented or something like that.

1:30:36 Um and you had to like download an app and everything to use it.

1:30:40 So like this is something that's been around for over a decade.

1:30:44 Uh and it's it's well accepted as as exhibits.

1:30:47 Um oh and we have a super chat.

1:30:51 Uh thank you uh Alex K.

1:30:53 uh between the two cynical strawman, which is my favorite.

1:30:57 Um the uh to act is uh I like to to act out uh the tanky character.

1:31:10 Uh comrade Czecha, the cynical proletarian CCCP, if you know what that is.

1:31:16 Um also Czecha is spelled C H Y K A.

1:31:20 If you know uh if you take away that h if you know

1:31:24 Russian [laughter] [gasps] uh there's a lot of meaning built into that and like

1:31:32 that the only problem with the when I'm acting on the uh with the checker

1:31:37 character is that I have to um I have to wear a helmet.

1:31:41 That's an actual tanker helmet by the way.

1:31:43 That's a That's a Afghanistan war uh tanker helmet from the from the 80s.

1:31:50 Um and um but that one's just fun to act cuz

1:31:55 I get to put on the silly fake accent and everything.

1:31:58 I I've seen some people get offended by the accent and it's like

1:32:02 that doesn't sound anything like a actual

1:32:04 Russian and it's like that's the point stupid.

1:32:08 [laughter] Like whoosh.

1:32:12 Holy moly.

1:32:14 Um, and then there's ones who also complain like,

1:32:16 "You're doing a straw man." And he's like, "They're lit." Like,

1:32:20 one of the characters is literally called Krypto the cynical straw man.

1:32:25 Duh.

1:32:27 Like, they're supposed to be characters.

1:32:30 Um, but in terms of the one that I like the most

1:32:33 in terms of as a foil um is uh is krypto because like he's

1:32:40 he like I often find like the most uh recent use of it

1:32:46 in uh in the um uh in the uh uh red baiting episode.

1:32:54 In the red baiting episode, I bring out uh crypto and Czecha.

1:32:58 Um and I actually found it pretty hard to come

1:33:00 up with a use for Czecha in that one.

1:33:04 Uh because like Krypto's the red baiter, you know,

1:33:08 like how do I how does Czecha respond to red baiting, you know?

1:33:13 That that was the that was the tricky bit there.

1:33:17 Um like and it's also like Czecha is just not like as important.

1:33:23 uh foil because like you know tankies don't hold power anywhere, you know.

1:33:31 Um so like it's not a uh it's not really that big

1:33:35 of an like tanks aren't really that big of an issue.

1:33:38 It's just a way to to uh bring up that like no,

1:33:43 you don't get to play this game of like put the other side.

1:33:46 No, I'm going to hit them both.

1:33:50 Uh but like you know it's uh uh crypto is a lot easier to write for and a lot

1:33:59 easier to to use as a foil um

1:34:02 because you know he's like he's literally a cryptofascist.

1:34:07 Like that's who we have as a president you know.

1:34:12 Um, so like all I have to do to write

1:34:16 for him is basically think of like what would

1:34:18 my freaking like you know what would I have

1:34:21 been acting like as a 20-year-old uh in this situation?

1:34:25 [laughter] Like it's real easy to like kind of and that's

1:34:28 why I have that like when I do his accent,

1:34:31 he's got like this dude bro like just a kind

1:34:35 of annoying dude bro surfer bro kind of accent.

1:34:39 It's just really annoying.

1:34:41 Um, like that's that's basically just me at 20 years old, you know.

1:34:45 [laughter] Um, but like and that's why it's

1:34:50 the dude bro accent because I was very much that.

1:34:53 [laughter] Um, so it's also easier to write him because I see myself in him.

1:35:01 Um, so uh hold on.

1:35:08 There's um couple Oh,

1:35:16 there's been a few more uh interpretations I need to get through.

1:35:27 And uh this is actually a pretty good question.

1:35:30 Um like the difference between a reactionary

1:35:34 and a fascist is uh radicalism basically.

1:35:38 Um, you know, that's kind of the main thing that everybody

1:35:42 gets wrong about fascism is that it's a it's a radical movement.

1:35:46 It's it's uh it's revolutionary.

1:35:48 Um, it it is the radical right.

1:35:52 Um, it's got a most most re most reactionaries you could count as being,

1:36:00 you know, basically all of them you can count as nationalist.

1:36:03 uh and many might be authoritarian as well,

1:36:05 but like you need that that three-part

1:36:08 combo of uh radical ultraist authoritarianism.

1:36:14 Uh without that combo, it's not fascist.

1:36:18 So, um, until you get to, uh,

1:36:22 that radicalism that they wanted to remake America,

1:36:25 um, you know, to re to, you know, basically impose their own, uh,

1:36:33 complete change in, uh, over the entire country from the individual on up um,

1:36:41 ultra nationalism um,

1:36:43 and impose an authoritarian rule that will maintain that kind of definition.

1:36:47 Yeah.

1:36:47 it.

1:36:47 That's that's fascism.

1:36:51 Um, [snorts] and going against the status quo is woke.

1:37:03 I wouldn't say that at all, Helen.

1:37:05 Um, cuz being trans does not mean going against the status quo.

1:37:11 That's if anything that is the status quo, you know,

1:37:14 like that that is the the status quo is that like transgender people exist.

1:37:21 Um, denying that they exist is going backwards.

1:37:25 Um, and yeah, so like it's not I

1:37:32 think you're missing what the status quo is there.

1:37:35 Um so uh the next thing that I want

1:37:42 to talk about is the military because we have

1:37:46 seen some very specific the the military is uh

1:37:49 is a very uh important part of of public history.

1:37:55 Um for the longest time up until basically the 1970s

1:38:00 uh there were basically only uh like three types of history.

1:38:05 You had like military history uh

1:38:10 uh political history and economic history, right?

1:38:15 That those were like the three types.

1:38:17 Uh social and and cultural history uh came about in the 60s.

1:38:24 uh 50s and 60s and didn't really

1:38:27 become particularly popular until the 70s and 80s.

1:38:32 So um those are kind of the five

1:38:35 types of of well there's intellectual history too.

1:38:37 I'm forgetting intellectual history.

1:38:39 Um but like socio cultural uh stuff was you know not really

1:38:48 uh a major part of what the history profession until that point.

1:38:52 So that means that the uh the military has

1:38:55 a huge influence on the on the growth of the profession.

1:38:59 Um you know and even today the military

1:39:05 like still employs a huge number of historians.

1:39:08 An gargantuan amount of historians.

1:39:11 Um basically every base has its own historian.

1:39:14 Uh every uh every division has its own historian.

1:39:18 some some uh some uh some uh some battalions have their own historians.

1:39:25 Um so you can have several historians working on one base.

1:39:29 Um you know so you have unit historians,

1:39:33 base historians um and then there's the uh historians

1:39:37 who work for the Pentagon um as basically interpreters.

1:39:43 Uh there's a lot of historians who are employed as uh like as we

1:39:48 saw with the advisory uh uh board for the state uh for the state department.

1:39:55 Uh [clears throat] every department has like

1:39:57 a a a group of historians that they employ for advice.

1:40:01 Um because how do you know how to uh how to deal

1:40:07 with what's what is going on without knowing what has happened?

1:40:12 And so that's what those historians are for.

1:40:14 So there's an absolutely huge amount of historians

1:40:16 who are employed by the uh by the military.

1:40:21 Um they also the military also is really important

1:40:25 in terms of putting out history through those historians.

1:40:28 I almost got employed as a as a uh a um I won't say which university,

1:40:35 but one of the uh our one of the militaries uh universities.

1:40:40 Uh but specifically not as a professor but as a documentarian.

1:40:44 So I would have literally been a propagandist if I got that job.

1:40:48 [laughter] Like that is like definitionally a propaganda.

1:40:54 So I that would have been pretty cool getting to be a propagandist.

1:40:57 Um but like um but they were hiring

1:41:01 PhD historians uh for to to make documentaries.

1:41:06 So like that's a thing too.

1:41:08 Um, so like and there's just there's so much

1:41:14 more than I can even speak to right now,

1:41:16 but like if I if I become a public history professor,

1:41:20 like I will have an entire week devote uh and I will

1:41:24 have an entire week of my class devoted to talking about military history.

1:41:28 So it's very important.

1:41:29 Um, but especially under the opaces of Pete Hegsth,

1:41:35 a adult from freaking um who's spent his entire career on Fox

1:41:41 News and has basically the same amount of military experience as I do.

1:41:46 um he uh he has been trying to uh reform, shall I say,

1:41:53 the US military and has been spending a whole lot

1:41:57 of his time going after what he calls woke history.

1:42:01 So, we'll get into that.

1:42:02 Let me pull up all the articles real quick before we get into that.

1:42:16 And by the way, on on the little banner down below here,

1:42:20 um each of these each of these little uh points

1:42:25 corresponds to an article that I'm pulling up right now.

1:42:31 Oh boy.

1:42:32 One of them is Washington Post.

1:42:34 Hope I don't have to go around the payw wall.

1:42:43 All right.

1:42:44 So for the first one,

1:42:54 uh the uh the um the one of the first thing this that Pete Hexath did once

1:43:03 he be once he got confirmed was to order

1:43:08 the removal of any DEI imagery from uh websites.

1:43:14 from from military websites.

1:43:16 Now remember, there are a ton of historians who are employed by the uh

1:43:22 by the uh by the uh Department of Defense and they they put out history, right?

1:43:30 So guess what?

1:43:32 A bunch of of history got flagged as DEI um and purged from the system.

1:43:39 Most notably, the Inola Gay.

1:43:42 All images of the Inola Gay were purged.

1:43:46 Now, they said that this was accidental,

1:43:49 but can you guess how they would accidentally remove the image of the Inola Gay?

1:44:01 Like, somebody put it in the chat.

1:44:03 Come on.

1:44:04 Oh, yep.

1:44:05 There we go.

1:44:07 Carol does history is uh didn't that they

1:44:11 accidentally remove it because it said gay?

1:44:13 Yeah, literally they were just control effing

1:44:17 and removing any image with the word gay.

1:44:22 Like So here's our first one.

1:44:31 gay.

1:44:32 Just just the word the the word gay.

1:44:38 [laughter] Now included in this were other things like

1:44:44 um you know black people just black people in general.

1:44:51 So including an entire freaking article about Jackie Robinson was removed.

1:44:59 an entire article an entire article about Jackie Robinson.

1:45:05 Like just think like how how bad that h how stupid

1:45:14 you have to be to think that like Jackie Robinson is DEI.

1:45:21 Um in some cases photos seem to have been flagged

1:45:24 for removal simply because their file included the word gay.

1:45:28 Yeah, that's what we said.

1:45:30 Um, several photos of an Army Corps

1:45:33 of Engineers uh dredging project in California marked

1:45:36 for deletion apparently because a local engineer

1:45:40 in the photo had the last name gay.

1:45:43 So, [laughter] [gasps] like this is just

1:45:51 they literally just control the word gay.

1:45:56 [clears throat] uh Tuskegee airmen are are you know once

1:46:02 again black people black people just their mere existence is woke.

1:46:08 um removed the Air Force briefly removed a new

1:46:13 recruit training courses that included videos about the Tuskegee

1:46:17 Airmen um because black people uh [snorts] you

1:46:24 know uh in some cases the removal was partial.

1:46:29 main page in a post titled Women's History Month,

1:46:34 all female crew supports war fighting was removed,

1:46:37 but at least one of the photos in the collection

1:46:42 about all female C17 crew could still be accessed.

1:46:47 Okay, so it was flagged for removal.

1:46:49 So I guess females are so like females Females are woke, guys.

1:47:08 And uh yeah, so I don't think we need to go much deeper than that.

1:47:20 Um, you guys can see how bonkers that one is.

1:47:28 Um, let me see if Let me catch up on uh on uh chat.

1:47:38 Uh, the lack of spine from as cause from pardoning Nixon to GOP

1:48:05 letter to Iran saying we would rip up treaties to January 6.

1:48:10 All no real consequences emboldening GOP each time.

1:48:15 Um, I guess I I don't see how that's has to do with interpretation there.

1:48:21 Um, we're talking about when when uh

1:48:28 [laughter] it's a it's Department of War now.

1:48:31 No, it's not.

1:48:32 Congress actually has to has to change that.

1:48:35 It's not the Department of War.

1:48:37 Um, okay.

1:48:50 What do they remove Dick Best?

1:48:52 No.

1:48:53 Come on.

1:48:53 Like, hold on.

1:48:55 I need to I need to find out.

1:48:58 Um, that would be funny if they removed Dick Best.

1:49:02 Uh, Dick Best is a famous aviator.

1:49:05 Uh he fought in Midway uh at the Battle of Midway.

1:49:09 Um and you know who doesn't like that's such a great name.

1:49:15 His name is literally Dick Best.

1:49:18 Um so let me uh let me look it up.

1:49:20 Uh uh so I'm not seeing anything here in the news.

1:49:33 Um, maybe if I put that.

1:49:47 Yeah, I'm not seeing anything.

1:49:57 Yeah, I don't I don't think that anything happened there.

1:50:00 Uh but let's move on to the next topic then um which is the removal of books.

1:50:10 So literal book book banning.

1:50:15 Uh this actually wasn't just at the Naval Academy.

1:50:18 This was also at the uh this wasn't just at Annapolis.

1:50:22 This was also at West Point.

1:50:24 But they straight up uh banned a bunch of books from the library.

1:50:30 Um.

1:50:33 Oh, what?

1:50:34 I have to.

1:50:36 Oh, come on.

1:50:39 Um, hold on.

1:50:41 I have to go around the payw wall.

1:50:42 I can't show you guys how I do this.

1:50:45 Um, just saying there are there are ways to go around pay walls.

1:50:53 Just pointing that out.

1:50:54 [laughter] You know, you could even perhaps look up a place that, you know,

1:51:04 says bye-bye payw wall.

1:51:10 Not going to say what that is, but you can figure it out on your own.

1:51:56 Huh.

1:51:56 Okay, there we go.

1:51:57 Finally got it.

1:52:02 All right.

1:52:03 So um so like Maya Angelou was uh who was

1:52:11 a frequent uh target of of book banning was one

1:52:17 of the 381 books banned um to Trump has zeroed

1:52:25 in on militarymies to root out uh so-called wokeness um Whoa.

1:52:33 Whoa.

1:52:33 Not what I wanted.

1:52:34 Stop.

1:52:35 Stop.

1:52:36 Stop.

1:52:38 [laughter] Um, pressed the wrong button.

1:52:43 Uh, yeah.

1:52:48 So, I made this little I I think you guys can hear this.

1:52:51 Um, General Patton was woke.

1:52:55 He actually said that, by the way.

1:52:57 [laughter] Um, but he actually was being sarcastic.

1:53:03 Um, but still General Patton was woke.

1:53:07 I love that.

1:53:08 [laughter] Um, the hundreds of books removed

1:53:25 from the Maryland library included Janet uh Janet

1:53:31 Jacobs Mar memorializing the Holocaust which explores

1:53:36 the representation of gender in the Holocaust memorialization.

1:53:41 Um, our uh, our time is now power, purpose, and the fight for a fair America.

1:53:52 Um, books on gender identity, LGBTQ rights, and white supremacy, uh,

1:53:57 and workplace diversity were also among

1:54:01 those expelled according to the Navy's list.

1:54:04 So, uh, so books on on LGBT, uh, so books about marginalized people.

1:54:18 That's about what it is.

1:54:20 Books about mar I'll say marginalization.

1:54:26 Marginal marginalization.

1:54:29 How do you spell that?

1:54:32 I think I spelled that correctly.

1:54:34 Um, but yeah, uh, that's what I get from that.

1:54:38 But yeah, Pete Hgsth is a book banner.

1:54:43 Like straight up a book banner.

1:54:45 Like, you can't get much more hateful than that, right?

1:54:49 Especially like he doesn't want the military uh he

1:54:52 doesn't want military personnel to learn about freaking white supremacy.

1:54:57 Are you kidding me?

1:55:00 Like like we haven't had to fight an entire war,

1:55:05 the bloodiest war in our entire history because of white supremacy.

1:55:11 Like, you know, think a little bit about

1:55:18 like what the what the implications of that are.

1:55:21 That he literally doesn't want people to learn

1:55:24 about the actual causes of the Civil War.

1:55:26 And we'll find out in just a second that he actually is a lost causer.

1:55:31 He straight up is.

1:55:32 Um, so hold on.

1:55:36 Let me catch up on chat.

1:55:50 [snorts] Uh Tom, I don't have a history about uh I don't

1:56:08 have a video about any ethnic group uh serving in the US military.

1:56:14 No.

1:56:15 Um [laughter] I that's not the kind of history I write.

1:56:20 Um, I do have a history of uh of American veterans though.

1:56:31 Um, so Helen says, uh, one book's band was Freckleface by actress Julian Moore.

1:56:48 Does this mean Irish or having freckles is woke?

1:56:51 [laughter] [laughter] I don't know.

1:57:03 Like why even ban that?

1:57:08 Like what?

1:57:11 Although I I don't know why it was there in the first place,

1:57:14 but like still what?

1:57:36 And yeah, uh, Yellow Galaxy, you're uh,

1:57:39 it's a good thing that you point that out.

1:57:41 It is true that the that the first books that uh Nazis went after was

1:57:46 was uh the books at the uh uh

1:57:50 Institute for Sexual Research or something like that.

1:57:52 It was literally the first place that uh offered uh uh transgender surgery.

1:57:59 Literally the first place ever.

1:58:02 And that was the one of the first things

1:58:04 Nazis went after once they assumed power in 1933.

1:58:08 So yeah.

1:58:08 Yeah.

1:58:09 It's uh it's quite a bad sign.

1:58:13 Um I I don't know what Zayn Rosler is or service uh like this.

1:58:31 Are you saying that like they're that Hexath is banning

1:58:35 these books because he doesn't want them to be literate?

1:58:38 that doesn't really stack up.

1:58:42 Um, no pun intended.

1:58:45 [laughter] Uh, so let's go on to the next one,

1:58:53 which remember I was saying that uh, Hex Seth is a lost causer.

1:59:06 Yeah, he's literally a lost causer.

1:59:10 Um, so the uh this Confederate memorial, which I'll point out,

1:59:18 do you know who installed this Confederate memorial in Arlington Cemetery?

1:59:22 Does anybody remember what who who uh installed that?

1:59:28 I guess I should be pointing over here.

1:59:30 The screen's actually over here for me,

1:59:32 but like I guess I got to put But does anybody remember who who uh

1:59:38 who authorized and uh and spoke at the uh

1:59:42 at the placement of that particular statute?

1:59:46 Yes, it's it's uh Oh.

1:59:50 Oh, you weren't the first one.

1:59:51 That would be You got it right.

1:59:55 First single single tona.

1:59:58 Singletona.

1:59:59 Um, yes, it was Wilson.

2:00:02 [screaming] No joke.

2:00:05 This is this is uh this is Woodro Wilson's legacy right here.

2:00:11 And freaking defense secretary.

2:00:16 Yes, defense secretary Hegathth um ordered it put back.

2:00:24 Now, if you don't know about this particular statue, it's horrendous.

2:00:30 Um, it shows like um first of all,

2:00:37 we shouldn't have Confederate memorials at Arlington whatsoever.

2:00:42 They're traitors.

2:00:44 We don't honor you do not honor traitors

2:00:47 in a national memorial uh in a national uh cemetery.

2:00:53 pure and simple.

2:00:55 Um, but furthermore,

2:01:01 the [snorts] the uh actual uh statue shows slaves uh helping their masters

2:01:11 commit treason and like and like being grateful about it and everything.

2:01:19 So, it's not just a Confederate memorial, it's extremely racist.

2:01:29 So um so uh yeah the uh opposition to racist treason is uh woke now.

2:01:58 And on top of that, um,

2:02:05 Pete Hegsth brought back I might have to go around the, uh,

2:02:09 pay wall on this one, too.

2:02:11 Oh, no.

2:02:11 I I got Okay, I have the gift article.

2:02:13 Good.

2:02:14 Um, so Heg Seth.

2:02:19 So, uh, this, oddly enough,

2:02:22 this is actually something that Trump did in his first term

2:02:26 was get the process started on removing Confederate names from American bases,

2:02:32 places like uh, uh, Fort Bragg is the most popular one,

2:02:37 or uh, Fort Hood is another one.

2:02:39 Um, but like Braxen Bragg was a freaking traitor to this nation.

2:02:48 um and should not be given uh should not be

2:02:51 rendered any honors by having a a base named after him.

2:02:55 Pure and simple.

2:02:56 Uh Trump agreed with that logic in 2020.

2:03:01 Uh but he did not in 20 in 2025.

2:03:06 Um so Hexith uh ordered the the names

2:03:12 of these places not be named after specifically after Confederates.

2:03:16 No, he brought them back by naming them after

2:03:19 like privates with the same name and things like that.

2:03:22 Oh, I forgot to uh hide that comment.

2:03:26 Yeah.

2:03:26 Um, so privates with the same name as like Brag.

2:03:32 It like it's now named after uh like like a private or something like that.

2:03:44 So, it's now uh named after Private First Class Roland Bragg,

2:03:51 a World War II paratrooper with a Silver Star.

2:03:57 You can see what he's doing there, right?

2:04:04 So, that's pretty important.

2:04:07 Um, like he's he's honoring the Confederacy,

2:04:17 a bunch of traitors who fought for slavery.

2:04:21 Like there's no ifs, ends, or buts about that.

2:04:23 It just is.

2:04:24 It's true.

2:04:25 You say otherwise, you're a lost causer.

2:04:28 You are a bigot.

2:04:29 Congratulations.

2:04:30 Pete Hgse is a bigot.

2:04:32 Tada.

2:04:34 Um, in doing so, he made himself a bigot, but it goes deeper.

2:04:40 It goes deeper.

2:04:43 Um, so I should I'll put this opposition to racist treason there

2:04:52 because he uh he furthermore stripped the uh Get out of here.

2:05:02 Get out of here.

2:05:03 [laughter] He stripped a Navy a Navy freaking cargo ship of Harvey Milk's name.

2:05:16 The the US Navy ship, that's what USNS stands for.

2:05:21 It's it's not given a USS because it is not a combat ship.

2:05:26 Um it's not particularly important.

2:05:28 It's just a cargo ship as you could

2:05:30 tell with all the cranes on it and everything.

2:05:33 Um, Navy operates a bunch of cargo ships for ob for obvious reasons.

2:05:38 Um, but the uh they renamed it from Harvey Mil,

2:05:45 the first openly gay politician in US history.

2:05:50 So once again, oh, and by the way, Harvey Mil was uh was a Navy veteran.

2:05:58 Uh so just gay people again, so [snorts] gay people are woke.

2:06:14 Um and and he literally said in his uh

2:06:19 that in this order that he was taking politics out of ship naming.

2:06:26 Excuse me.

2:06:29 You just made it extremely political.

2:06:38 Yeah.

2:06:39 As Helen says, this is wildly bigoted.

2:06:45 Like so he's not just a lost causer, he's also a homophobe.

2:06:52 You know, bigotry tends to spread if unchallenged.

2:06:55 And you know, when you spend most of your career

2:06:58 in Fox New with the Fox and Friends,

2:07:02 um you tend to get more and more bigoted as you go along.

2:07:05 I mean, that's just kind of the nature of Fox News.

2:07:08 It is it it pushes people towards bigotry.

2:07:12 Um, so, tada.

2:07:17 This is what happens when you put a Fox News anchor uh in the Pentagon.

2:07:26 He censors history and freaking pushes lost causeism and homophobia.

2:07:35 Uh, it actually gets a lot worse,

2:07:39 but I'm going to uh catch up with the comments again um before

2:07:49 we get to one of the most important things on this entire list.

2:07:53 Actually, um remember if you're uh proposing an interpretation,

2:08:04 put like hashtag interpret or something.

2:08:10 I don't see any Oh, here's one.

2:08:17 This is about the uh this is from Helen and it's about

2:08:21 the book uh is anti-Trump and her book was meant for the Pentagon schools.

2:08:29 Um why can't I just I wish I could just copy and paste that.

2:08:37 I have to actually go to YouTube to to copy and paste that.

2:08:42 Um, but I think uh a uh a safe thing

2:08:52 to put for that would be um anti-Trump authors because yeah,

2:09:07 that that makes perfect sense that they'd ban a bunch of books because

2:09:10 the author uh is like openly anti-Trump

2:09:13 because of course they're that kind of stupid.

2:09:15 Like the political opinions of the author

2:09:19 uh you know warrant banning their books.

2:09:23 That's how bigoted these people are.

2:09:25 Um because they're Nazis, right?

2:09:35 That's that's what they Well, not Nazis.

2:09:37 I wouldn't really call them Nazis, but they're fascists for sure.

2:09:39 They are fascists.

2:09:41 Um, you know, Pete Hexth is a very openly a fascist.

2:09:46 Um, there's not really any question there.

2:09:49 He just is.

2:09:50 Uh, and, uh, that human being says, uh,

2:09:56 I'm surprised Hexath knows who Harvey Milk even is.

2:10:00 [laughter] [gasps] I mean, maybe between his like drunk drunken stuper,

2:10:05 he might be capable of reading a little bit.

2:10:13 After all, he was just going through

2:10:16 the entire data military database of pictures and everything.

2:10:21 Uh, just looking for the word gay and deleting it all.

2:10:25 So, like, you know, Harvey Mil would come up

2:10:30 because Harvey Mil was a was a a naval officer.

2:10:34 I think he made it to the rank of lieutenant if I remember correctly.

2:10:38 Um, like he fought in World War II.

2:10:43 No, no, no, it was Korea, wasn't it?

2:10:46 I don't remember.

2:10:47 Um, either way, he was a Navy veteran.

2:10:50 That's why they named a ship after him.

2:10:52 He was But a very inconsequential ship because

2:10:56 he wasn't a particularly consequential uh naval officer.

2:11:00 He was just really important.

2:11:03 basically in his death he he was only a a politician

2:11:07 for a couple of years before he got assassinated.

2:11:11 So, you know, like he actually wasn't

2:11:13 that important in terms of like what he did.

2:11:16 He helped fight a uh a major homophobic measure.

2:11:22 Uh I forgot what the proposition number was,

2:11:24 but like it was going to make like teachers no longer

2:11:26 be able to teach if they were out of the closet.

2:11:30 Um, and that was kind of his main thing.

2:11:35 But I'll point out that the uh then governor uh no then just

2:11:42 for barely former governor I believe it was it was like a year

2:11:47 after he had left office Ronald Reagan actually fought it and Ronald

2:11:51 Reagan made much more of a difference than Harvey Milk in that regard.

2:11:54 So, um, you know, that's kind of like his his one thing,

2:11:59 his one major campaign as an actual politician to get something done.

2:12:03 Um, but like, um, you know, he's he's more important as a figure

2:12:10 of be just being the first openly gay politician.

2:12:14 Uh, you know, be just being a city councelor for San San Francisco.

2:12:20 That's how monumental of a difference that was in the 70s.

2:12:25 Think about that.

2:12:25 In the 70s, it took that long before an out of the closet

2:12:29 uh gay men had held any position of power anywhere in the United States.

2:12:34 So, that's what matters.

2:12:36 Um there.

2:12:39 Um, so um given the entire John Lewis

2:12:52 class are named uh there's a John Lewis class.

2:12:55 I didn't know that.

2:13:05 Oh.

2:13:07 Huh.

2:13:07 [snorts] So, the John Lewis class is what the uh what

2:13:12 the Harvey Milk the the Navy ship uh the Harvey Milk one was.

2:13:18 It's an oiler.

2:13:21 It's a I I thought just I was just looking at it and going like, "Oh,

2:13:25 that's a cargo ship." I mean, I guess it technically is a cargo ship,

2:13:27 but like it's a it's an oiler.

2:13:30 So, they use these ships specifically to to run.

2:13:34 I didn't know that it was named after John Lewis.

2:13:37 Um, that's kind of cool.

2:13:41 What other ships do they have uh in this uh in this class?

2:13:46 Let's see if I wonder if they're all like civil rights leaders.

2:13:50 Um, the class is named for its Yeah.

2:13:59 which is blah blah blah.

2:14:02 The renaming John Lewis class will be named after prominent civil rights.

2:14:08 The remaining Yeah.

2:14:09 So the former Harvey Milk was renamed um so they're all named

2:14:15 after uh uh like oh so one's Earl Warren, the Robert F.

2:14:24 Kennedy.

2:14:25 Uh wait, Bobby Kennedy was a was a Navy man.

2:14:34 I thought I knew his brother was in the Navy,

2:14:37 but I didn't know that that he was in the Navy.

2:14:44 Huh.

2:14:45 Navy reserve 44 to 46.

2:14:47 So he was a World War II vet.

2:14:50 Okay.

2:14:51 Um he was on the [laughter] Oh, this is a namesake thing.

2:14:59 Um, but like um so that makes sense.

2:15:04 Lucy Stone.

2:15:05 I don't know who that is.

2:15:08 Um to earn a college degree.

2:15:15 Okay.

2:15:16 Sojourer Truth.

2:15:19 I I know Lucy Stone and Sojourer Truth did not

2:15:22 have any uh the they have the Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

2:15:29 I'm pretty sure she wasn't a Navy vet.

2:15:31 I know Sojourer Truth wasn't.

2:15:35 Um Harriet Tubman.

2:15:37 Well, actually, you could argue that Harriet Tubman

2:15:42 did command a uh ship during the Civil War.

2:15:45 Um, it was just a it was just a uh uh for a short time,

2:15:51 but like she did technically commandeer a paddle boat.

2:15:55 So, I guess I guess that's Navy experience, right?

2:16:02 [laughter] Uh Dolores Werta, isn't that the uh Dolores Werta is the is

2:16:09 the guy with um uh No, no, that's Yeah.

2:16:14 Yeah.

2:16:14 She's national workers national farm workers association.

2:16:18 So she's part of the whole Caesar Chavez set.

2:16:21 Um Joshua Goldberg, I don't know who that is.

2:16:27 Bellarianborn American rabbi.

2:16:30 Um first to reach cap rank of captain.

2:16:35 So just a a uh Navy man who was Jewish I guess.

2:16:42 And Thomas D.

2:16:44 Pum, first African-American sailor uh promoted to captain.

2:16:50 Okay.

2:16:54 But uh yeah, the only one that they renamed was the Harvey

2:16:57 Milk and to Oscar Peterson who I don't know who that is.

2:17:07 Oh, he literally just a MO winner.

2:17:10 So it had literally nothing to do with with civil rights.

2:17:14 So that's even that makes it even worse.

2:17:17 Like if you think about it,

2:17:18 it makes it that makes the renaming even worse because

2:17:20 the entire class is named after freaking civil rights leaders.

2:17:24 Like and that's the only one that they renamed

2:17:29 under Hegsth's thing of being like it's too political.

2:17:33 And so he was literally just targeting people for being gay.

2:17:38 Awesome.

2:17:46 And you know, but just just y'all wait.

2:17:52 This gets so much worse.

2:17:54 So so much worse.

2:17:58 Let me direct you to this video.

2:18:03 He now we had previously I believe under um under

2:18:10 Ford if I remember correctly um it might have been Nixon

2:18:14 who uh rescended the medals of honor for the people

2:18:18 who had freaking participated in the ma the wounded knee massacre.

2:18:24 Notice he's officially demanding that people call it the battle of wounded knee.

2:18:29 No historian worth their freaking salt will call it the battle.

2:18:33 It's a massacre.

2:18:35 That's what it is.

2:18:36 There's no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

2:18:38 You're just lying about history.

2:18:41 So this whole like their place in history is settled.

2:18:45 Bull[ __][ __] Now, under the previous administration,

2:18:53 a review panel was convened to determine

2:18:56 whether soldiers awarded the Medal of Honor

2:18:58 for their actions at the Battle of Wounded Knee should keep their medals.

2:19:04 Now, upon deliberation, that panel concluded that these brave soldiers should

2:19:10 in fact rightfully keep their medals from actions in 1890.

2:19:14 The report was concluded in October of 2024.

2:19:19 Yet, despite this clear recommendation,

2:19:22 former Secretary Lloyd Austin, for whatever reason, I think we know he was more

2:19:26 interested in being politically correct than historically correct,

2:19:31 chose not to make a final decision.

2:19:34 Such careless inaction has allowed for their distinguished

2:19:37 recognition to remain in limbo until now.

2:19:40 Under my direction, we're making it

2:19:42 clear without hesitation that the soldiers who

2:19:45 fought in the Battle of Wounded Knee in 1890 will keep their medals.

2:19:49 Thank you.

2:19:50 And we're making it clear that they deserve those medals.

2:19:52 This decision is now final and their place

2:19:55 in our nation's history is no longer up for debate.

2:19:58 We It's no longer up for debate.

2:20:03 Notice I haven't cursed this entire time, but this in particular,

2:20:07 this in particular is like the most ridiculously bigoted thing.

2:20:12 He is pro- massacre.

2:20:15 Pro- genocide.

2:20:19 Now, I wouldn't call the Wounded Knee Massacre in and of itself a genocide.

2:20:23 There's actually legal requirements for being

2:20:27 able to label something a genocide.

2:20:29 It does not fit those requirements.

2:20:31 We do have some actual genocides in our history.

2:20:34 A lot of people just want to expand the definition.

2:20:36 But no, we have a very explicit definition of genocide.

2:20:40 It does not fit that.

2:20:41 But being pro- massacre means that he actually wants the massacre

2:20:49 to happen and is in favor of it happening again.

2:20:56 meaning genocide that when it happens repeatedly that's a call for genocide.

2:21:05 So this is literally a call for genocide right here.

2:21:08 This is about as bad as you can get.

2:21:11 We salute their memory.

2:21:13 We honor their ser __] their memory service and we will never forget

2:21:17 __] their service and[ __] you.

2:21:23 Can you tell I am very angry about this particular one?

2:21:30 So, you know, I don't even know what

2:21:34 to put in terms of the interpretation of this.

2:21:36 Like what who who in their right mind

2:21:39 is pro- genoci uh like just openly pro- genocide?

2:21:44 What what do you how do you Uh oh, guys.

2:22:03 A uh a moth just got in and uh King and it's like in the it was

2:22:10 in the uh in the light fixture there and King

2:22:13 was attacking the light fixture for a second there.

2:22:16 Um, but like yeah, genuinely what what is the interpretation here?

2:22:23 Because you could tell I'm I'm kind of emotional about this one.

2:22:27 Um, like what is what is woke about this history?

2:22:33 Like what is woke about like the massacre itself?

2:22:48 And uh Singleton, you're you're right to point out this that the that so

2:22:52 the Medal of Honor wasn't the only uh wasn't the only award.

2:22:58 it there.

2:23:00 Uh so um it's a Purple Heart was the first award offered

2:23:10 and during the Civil War uh Congress created the uh Medal of Honor.

2:23:15 Um but it wasn't until I believe 1904 that uh Congress created the Silver Star.

2:23:26 Um, somebody could correct me if I'm wrong, but like yeah,

2:23:30 it's not it it the Medal of Honor was literally like

2:23:33 the only award that you didn't have to get a wound for.

2:23:38 So, um, this is actually a good thing that Wilson did.

2:23:43 Oh, no, he's speaking something good about Wilson.

2:23:46 But Wilson actually convened a panel uh of historians and uh and um

2:23:54 uh military officers um field grade and flag grade officers to uh review

2:24:03 previous Medal of Honor and see if they should be uh revoked because

2:24:09 of the changes in what the uh the Medal of Honor had meant.

2:24:12 Because for instance, right at the beginning of his uh of his administration,

2:24:18 well, no, it's not really right at the beginning.

2:24:20 It's 1914, but in 1914, he had uh he had invaded Veraracruz in Mexico,

2:24:26 taken over the entire state,

2:24:28 and literally every single participant in that uh initial invasion.

2:24:31 Every single one got a Medal of Honor.

2:24:35 That even to him was was dumb.

2:24:40 [laughter] uh just an abuse of the of the metal.

2:24:43 Um and so that that panel rescended a whole bunch.

2:24:48 Um some of them were some of the things rescended were bad.

2:24:53 You know, for instance, um there was that one uh that one medic in the Civil

2:24:59 War who uh she wasn't actually part of the army,

2:25:01 but she was a woman and she had gotten a Medal of Honor um for her service.

2:25:07 Um and uh they rescended it because she wasn't actually in the army.

2:25:12 And that's like no that come on.

2:25:14 Um and uh you know uh uh William F.

2:25:21 Cody uh the you know Buffalo Bill uh he had his uh Medal of Honor revoked.

2:25:28 Uh, so there was a there was a whole

2:25:30 thing on that and it was annoying and stupid,

2:25:33 but like you know it like uh but like the idea of it was was in the right place.

2:25:41 Um, and yeah, they rescended a bunch of Medal of Honors of Moni on that one too.

2:25:48 Um, [cough] Um, that's an interesting point there.

2:26:05 Uh, Zeneros, [laughter] I'm sure I'm saying that wrong, but um, the, uh,

2:26:13 that that Heg Seth defending the wounded knee medals uh,

2:26:19 helps normalize his actions in the Caribbean.

2:26:23 Interesting point.

2:26:25 Um, I don't know if it's uh I don't know if

2:26:28 he uh if he's thinking that in his own mind at all,

2:26:35 like but it does kind of do that.

2:26:38 It's like, oh yeah, war crimes are, you know, metal [clears throat] worthy.

2:26:44 So, uh, but what would what would be the interpretation here?

2:26:50 Like is it like pro-war crime?

2:26:55 Like is that what like being anti-war crime is woke?

2:27:00 Is that what that what the interpretation is here?

2:27:05 Uh Alex says uh being anti- genocide is woke.

2:27:11 Uh yeah.

2:27:12 I mean like that's that's kind of what I'm leaning towards.

2:27:15 Like is that the actual interpretation here?

2:27:18 I hope not.

2:27:22 Um he talks about political correctness.

2:27:26 Well, he openly attacks everyone he

2:27:28 thinks doesn't have the correct political opinions.

2:27:32 It's very true.

2:27:34 Um and oh uh so the the is the name of the woman I was talking about,

2:27:44 thanks for pointing this out, Helen, was um Mary Edwards Walker.

2:27:49 Um and yeah um and yeah.

2:27:57 Yeah, that's right.

2:27:58 She had um she had uh she had um

2:28:03 the the Fort Hill uh renamed for her and then Hagsth put

2:28:09 it back which is just like I mean like imagine

2:28:18 that a Medal of Honor winner freaking getting rejected for a confederate.

2:28:28 and a Medal of Honor winner who was fighting that very Confederate.

2:28:39 [screaming] So, I guess being anti-war crime is what what I'm going to put down.

2:28:53 Like I don't know what else to put here.

2:28:56 Anti-war crimes.

2:29:03 Opposition to war crimes.

2:29:05 That's a better way of phrasing it.

2:29:13 All right.

2:29:14 So the next one is that Hexath's Pentagon

2:29:19 identity months the same day Trump calls for Black

2:29:22 History Month [laughter] like [laughter] this it hurts

2:29:34 itself in its confusion or something like that.

2:29:36 What is this?

2:29:38 you know, um, so I don't think it requires much more explanation on that.

2:29:44 He he says that the uh military will not observe uh black

2:29:50 history month or any other uh or any other uh identity months,

2:29:55 you know, Pride Month or anything along those lines.

2:29:58 Um, so just cultural awareness, I guess, is the wokeness here.

2:30:07 Especially since I can literally just

2:30:09 copy and paste this [laughter] cultural awareness.

2:30:12 Um, just like think about how think about that.

2:30:20 Like [laughter] he's so dumb and so bigoted that even Trump was like,

2:30:26 "Nah, I'm not I'm not going to go with that amount of bigotry.

2:30:29 No thanks." Like, Hexath is literally more bigoted than Trump.

2:30:38 Um, and finally, uh, I don't know if you guys heard about this one, but, uh,

2:30:49 they removed a memorial in the Netherlands at a, uh,

2:30:53 American cemetery uh, to freaking uh, black soldiers.

2:31:02 So, literally they they just removed it.

2:31:08 Like, it's insane.

2:31:11 Plaques commemorating African-American soldiers.

2:31:14 Let me zoom it in a little bit.

2:31:16 Um, against fighting against Nazi Germany in Europe have been

2:31:20 removed from a US military cemetery in the Netherlands approximately.

2:31:25 Yeah.

2:31:25 Yeah.

2:31:26 Um uh so Dutch media reported earlier

2:31:36 this month toformational panels about African-American soldiers

2:31:40 in the mid 20th century war had

2:31:43 been taken down in the cemetery's visitor center.

2:31:47 a local official who was granted anonymity to speak to Newsweek uh did not

2:31:54 inform authorities in the Lumber Ces where

2:31:57 the cemetery is located of the removal.

2:32:00 Um a spokesman for Black Liberators project uh

2:32:06 separately confirmed um that the panels have been removed.

2:32:10 It is not clear exactly when the panels were removed.

2:32:13 The panels were added to the visitor center in mid 2024,

2:32:18 partly because of pushes from then

2:32:21 US ambassador to the Netherlands, that person.

2:32:25 Um, but they were removed again earlier this summer, the initiative said.

2:32:32 Um, now I I know from a uh friend of the channel uh who lives who's Dutch.

2:32:40 Well, uh not originally Dutch, but like is Dutch now.

2:32:45 And apparently this is this is like pissed

2:32:50 off Dutch people uh like to to no end.

2:32:55 And like the Dutch government has like officially

2:32:58 requested that cuz they take this very seriously.

2:33:02 Um they take this incredibly seriously.

2:33:05 Um because they view uh Americans as their liberators and rightfully so.

2:33:12 Um and so this is like disgracing the memory of of uh American liberation.

2:33:19 Um, so the uh the this is like just more open racism, right?

2:33:31 Like it it just is straight up open racism.

2:33:35 So yet again, I can just copy this from a previous one.

2:33:38 I could just copy and paste.

2:33:40 Black people are are woke.

2:33:42 Their their mere existence is woke.

2:33:46 Um, so let me read through the comments again

2:33:51 and then we'll go on to the next subject.

2:33:55 Um, give me a sec to get through all the them.

2:34:00 Um, could morality and war is woke.

2:34:23 [laughter] Oh, actually, you know what?

2:34:27 that that would work for the uh um it's not

2:34:30 morality war but uh you know uh instead of war crime

2:34:36 opposition to war crimes the the actual thing that's woke here

2:34:40 is uh is uh uh um the the rules of war.

2:34:55 So, cuz that existed in 1890.

2:35:03 Um, so that's a good point.

2:35:11 Hello, King.

2:35:14 Everybody say hello.

2:35:18 [laughter] What you doing?

2:35:25 Say hello.

2:35:27 Say hello.

2:35:28 Hello, king.

2:35:34 Hello.

2:35:41 Where you going?

2:35:48 What is it?

2:35:53 Yeah, time to clean himself.

2:36:02 Um, all right.

2:36:03 Let me continue.

2:36:32 and [laughter] suddenly it's just like cat.

2:36:38 [gasps] Um, what are you doing?

2:36:52 Just going to sit there.

2:36:54 You're just going to sit there.

2:36:55 Okay.

2:36:56 Um, King is our version of fan service.

2:37:02 [laughter] So, um, [laughter] opposing the Nazis is woke.

2:37:15 Wait, are we the baddies?

2:37:20 Welcome to Fascist USA.

2:37:22 Um, so let's move on to the next one, which is about funding.

2:37:32 I have to uh pull up a New York Times article.

2:37:39 So that means having to go around the payw wall on that one.

2:37:43 Hold on a second while I do that.

2:38:16 Oh, there's another one.

2:38:17 I have two New York Times articles in a row.

2:38:20 Dang it.

2:38:31 Hopefully, New York Times is a lot easier to get around the payw wall, though.

2:38:36 Um, there we go.

2:38:38 And then it's ABC and two from ABC.

2:38:42 There we go.

2:38:43 That makes it easy.

2:38:49 All right.

2:38:49 There we go.

2:38:51 So, for the first one, TR Oh, that's not the first one.

2:38:58 There we go.

2:38:59 Humanities endowment funds Trump's priorities after ending old grants.

2:39:04 So those for those who don't know the National Endowment

2:39:07 for the Humanities is a uh is a huge amount of money.

2:39:13 Well, I mean it's not it's 38 $35 million.

2:39:17 Okay, it's not that much money in the grand scheme of things,

2:39:20 but it's really important to the history profession.

2:39:23 Uh so for instance uh those who have seen the most recent uh the most recent um

2:39:31 uh Ken Burns documentary about the revolution that was

2:39:36 funded by the National Endowment in for the humanities.

2:39:40 So like they they cut that uh and um

2:39:48 and they are now there's a bunch of people who

2:39:51 uh like I actually know somebody who had a project

2:39:54 that was funded by this um by the NEH

2:39:58 specifically regarding uh Navajo code talkers and her project

2:40:03 got the got its funding slashed and she got

2:40:06 a letter like literally saying like your project does

2:40:09 not align with the president's priorities and blah blah blah.

2:40:12 Like it literally said like president's priorities as if

2:40:18 he gets to determine where the NEH goes.

2:40:21 Um so like and and they did this for as it

2:40:30 says right here virtually all of its existing grants.

2:40:33 Um 97 projects were cut.

2:40:38 um grant include many focused on presidents, statesmen,

2:40:44 and canonical authors, including $10 million to the University of Virginia,

2:40:48 which the agency said was the largest grant in its history that will support

2:40:53 the expedited completion of editorial work

2:40:57 on papers relating to the Declaration of Independence,

2:41:00 the American Revolution, and the founding era.

2:41:03 So, this is just straight up like anti-history.

2:41:08 Like the whole this is completely anti-history.

2:41:11 I just noticed the king left.

2:41:13 Um, so I think I'm pretty clear on saying

2:41:22 that this is uh this is um what's it called?

2:41:29 um just being um being anti-Trump.

2:41:39 This is the same as before.

2:41:41 You remember anti-Trump authors?

2:41:45 Well, now it's anti-Trump projects anti not projects, historians.

2:41:55 So, I'm an anti-Trump historian.

2:41:58 So, I am by default woke.

2:42:01 Um, because my project does not align with his.

2:42:09 That's not what the NE is for.

2:42:11 But apparently now he wants to turn the NE into a propaganda organ.

2:42:16 You guys might also remember that um that they gutted that they

2:42:22 that Congress fully gutted uh the National Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

2:42:29 um the uh which is the entity behind NPR and PBS that is is

2:42:40 part of this whole thing of like

2:42:43 they're anti-Trump and therefore the you know they

2:42:48 aren't politically neutral because apparently political neutrality

2:42:52 was the point of them being politically

2:42:55 independent the whole point is that they're

2:43:00 politically independent so their neutrality is not required.

2:43:08 So, uh, this has destroyed a lot of, uh,

2:43:15 a lot of, uh, funding for public history projects throughout the US,

2:43:20 including literally a a funding for one of the biggest projects about the, uh,

2:43:26 about the American founding fathers.

2:43:29 So, apparently the founding fathers are woke now, too.

2:43:33 Um, but not really.

2:43:37 It's because it doesn't align with Trump's priorities because

2:43:41 Trump wants it to uh to to lionize himself.

2:43:47 Um, so it's he's literally turned the NEH

2:43:51 into a um into a uh um a personal purse.

2:44:00 [snorts] And you know, anyone who disagrees with him, well,

2:44:05 General Patton was woke.

2:44:09 So, yeah.

2:44:12 Woke, woke, woke.

2:44:14 Um, I'll skip over to the next one

2:44:16 because I think the interpretation is pretty obvious here.

2:44:18 It's just anything that doesn't align with Trump's priorities.

2:44:24 Um so this one um where it's uh you know so uh this is

2:44:36 actually the one I want to talk about uh that affected me directly.

2:44:41 So Trump uh illegally removed uh funding for what

2:44:47 are called uh what are called um Hispanic serving institutions.

2:44:54 So we could go straight to what that is.

2:44:57 It's Hispanic Hispanics are woke now.

2:45:06 Um, and what he did to kind of try to skirt the law

2:45:11 is to redirect it to uh H.B.CU uh historically black colleges and universities.

2:45:20 Um, so he he just cut off a group of my uh

2:45:25 one minority to take their funding and move it somewhere else.

2:45:31 And this directly affected me.

2:45:34 The reason why I'm no longer a professor is

2:45:37 because the uh the the University of New Mexico what

2:45:42 is a Hispanic serving institution and with that loss

2:45:45 of funding they had to down downsize their adjunct professors.

2:45:49 This hurt me.

2:45:53 And I'll point out I ain't a I ain't a uh minority, you know.

2:46:02 So even though Hispanics were the target of this, it hurts regular,

2:46:12 you know, white men, white straight cis males, um, like myself.

2:46:21 So this this actually hurt me directly.

2:46:26 Um, I am I am no longer an adjunct professor because of this.

2:46:33 Um, [laughter] and [gasps] uh, the founding fathers were anti- monarchy,

2:46:47 so of course they were woke.

2:46:50 [laughter] And uh, like, but think about everything we're talking about here.

2:46:58 Like it isn't just like that Haggth is like pro is pro war crime,

2:47:05 you know, obviously that's a huge problem in and of itself,

2:47:10 but like by him, you know, re-energizing the lost cause, you know,

2:47:17 being pro- genocide and being um and being like uh and being a book banner.

2:47:26 He's like energizing local efforts as well

2:47:30 for that kind of for that kind of bigotry.

2:47:32 Same thing here like there are um there are

2:47:41 uh millions of uh of dollars that were yanked

2:47:47 from like from institutions like the uh University

2:47:51 of New Mexico to send to this kind of stuff.

2:47:54 And that's why I was uh not renewed as a uh

2:47:58 as a uh adjunct professor because no most of the adjunks worked.

2:48:04 It sucks.

2:48:06 Um, [laughter] and Helen points out that like, you know,

2:48:20 I am I should probably be like

2:48:23 the the demographic for for being a Trump fan, right?

2:48:28 Like I'm a white cis, straight male veteran.

2:48:33 Um, and so I should be proTrump one.

2:48:37 Republicans have been absolutely failing veterans for a while now.

2:48:41 Um, so like I genuinely do not understand how how veterans

2:48:47 can be pro-Republican when they're so when they are so anti- veteran,

2:48:54 like so ridiculously openly anti- veteran.

2:48:58 remember the whole uh the whole um uh pact act.

2:49:04 Remember that not a single Republican voted for that.

2:49:08 Not a single one.

2:49:11 It was 50 50 members in the Senate.

2:49:15 There were uh Republicans who voted in for it in the uh in the House,

2:49:20 but in the Senate 50 Democrats voted for it.

2:49:25 And that meant that the vice president had to split that vote.

2:49:29 That vice president was Kla Harris.

2:49:32 Kla Harris was definitively more uh pro- veteran.

2:49:38 There's no ifs or buts on that.

2:49:41 She was definitively more pro- veteran than every single Republican senator.

2:49:47 Every single one.

2:49:50 Many of whom are veterans themselves.

2:49:56 So just ridiculous.

2:50:00 So I I I genuinely don't understand how veterans can be

2:50:04 uh can be proTrump because like he's he's just so anti- veteran.

2:50:10 So he's anti he he's so ridiculously anti-

2:50:13 veteran that like that was a key talking point

2:50:16 for Biden for key key reason for why Biden

2:50:22 stepped up to the plate in the first place.

2:50:25 Um so you know it it just it's mindboggling to me.

2:50:31 The only answer I have for why veterans are are

2:50:34 so proTrump um is because they're nationalists and uh you know,

2:50:41 look where that leads.

2:50:48 Uh so let me catch up on chat real quick.

2:50:56 Um, and yeah, exactly, Helen.

2:51:14 It really does.

2:51:18 Um, so let's move on to the next one.

2:51:24 Wait, did I write it down?

2:51:25 Yep.

2:51:26 Hispanics.

2:51:26 Okay.

2:51:27 So, the Trump administration moves to end major student loan

2:51:30 forgiveness plan uh because uh student loan forgiveness is woke.

2:51:38 And I don't know if you guys heard about this that you

2:51:42 know that's uh that the uh possibility of of uh you know

2:51:50 removing one of the worst debts in in our entire economy uh

2:51:59 is uh you know something that we need to get rid of.

2:52:04 And mind you this affects history.

2:52:08 because so many historians are ridden with student loan debt.

2:52:12 I'm lucky that I don't, but that's because I fought for this country

2:52:15 and I was able to afford a number of uh

2:52:20 I was able to afford my education through the GI

2:52:23 Bill along with having other supplemental programs like fellowships.

2:52:27 Um but like and also uh I did have student loans,

2:52:31 but I was able to pay them off with, you know, money from this channel.

2:52:34 This channel allowed me to pay off my student loans.

2:52:37 Um the uh especially thanks to how well it used to do.

2:52:43 Um it's not doing well now, but like uh so this this is uh you know

2:52:52 a uh you know trying to be like the law is clear.

2:52:58 If you take out a loan, you must pay it back.

2:53:01 So basically, loan forgiveness in and of itself is woke.

2:53:08 So yet another yikes.

2:53:21 Uh let me catch up on uh the chat.

2:53:33 And yeah, absolutely.

2:53:34 Uh, uh, Trump has very much been anti- veteran.

2:53:37 I mean, yeah, we don't need to go through that whole history.

2:53:41 Um, yeah, cuz like old Gus here is pointing out that, you know,

2:53:49 he he literally denigrated uh um I'm coming up with the name McKinley.

2:53:56 I know that's wrong.

2:53:58 Um, [snorts] it's Mick something McCarth.

2:54:04 Um, but like literally a P denigrated him

2:54:08 from being a P saying like I like winners.

2:54:12 Uh, terrible terrible freaking anti- veteran.

2:54:16 Like s service hatred is a real thing.

2:54:20 Like it's it's ridiculous.

2:54:21 And like it's it's a very freaking prominent on the left for sure,

2:54:27 but on the far left, not on the not on the on in like not for like liberals,

2:54:34 if you want to call them the left.

2:54:37 Um, liberals are not anti- veteran.

2:54:40 Um, but like a lot of conservatives

2:54:45 are and especially reactionaries and fascists are.

2:54:49 Um, McCain, thank you.

2:54:51 Um, oh wait, you weren't the first one to say it.

2:54:54 It was, uh, Scrambles was the first one to say it.

2:54:57 But yeah, uh, McCain was the one.

2:55:00 Um, so, uh, no, it it's one of those things of like, uh, you know,

2:55:09 it's just anti veteran,

2:55:10 but like the the the thing on this whole student loans thing.

2:55:15 Um, this this whole uh, you know,

2:55:20 they're they're saying like we can't tolerate uh,

2:55:24 we can't tolerate loan forgiveness.

2:55:27 Um, so this is just saying essentially um, you know,

2:55:34 Biden's loan forgiveness plan was coddling students when in reality it was meant

2:55:41 to like help the American economy in a way that like basically nothing has uh,

2:55:48 in since the pandemic.

2:55:51 It was going to be one of the best

2:55:53 one of the greatest boons to the American economy.

2:55:57 Um so like there's a very deeply uh practical

2:56:03 um reasoning for doing those stu doing that loan forgiveness.

2:56:08 It's not just oh that you know you took

2:56:11 out a loan therefore you should pay it back.

2:56:14 Like I know I have my qualms with forgiveness because like

2:56:19 um you know I didn't get it so why should they

2:56:22 you know but like the fact is it would help the economy

2:56:25 in a in an an immense way and that's what matters.

2:56:30 Um so they just want to hurt the economy.

2:56:34 It seems like genuinely they just want to hurt the economy and they want

2:56:40 there there's also this alter ulterior motive

2:56:45 of being anti- higher education in general.

2:56:50 It's an attack on education.

2:56:51 All of this is an attack on education.

2:56:54 They do not want people to be smarter.

2:56:57 They want drones who will feed

2:56:59 into the economy and then eventually starve to death.

2:57:03 um just so that they can make their millions and run away.

2:57:10 Um it is disgusting and it is destroying our entire republic.

2:57:18 On to the last one.

2:57:20 Uh so university rep president reflects on academic freedom and blah blah blah.

2:57:27 uh where so basically Trump is has put

2:57:32 out this compact uh the compact for academic excellence.

2:57:38 Um so um it uh basically he uh he has this thing of like

2:57:52 a bunch of points that uh universities can

2:57:56 sign on to this compact for academic excellence.

2:58:00 um that uh that like you sign on and say like we will not promote DEI,

2:58:12 we will uh create uh we will have uh ideological diversity in our faculty.

2:58:20 Utter poppyccock, you know, that's uh that's complete complete nonsense.

2:58:28 Um, pabum.

2:58:31 That's the word I was looking for.

2:58:32 It's complete pabum.

2:58:33 Um, and it's like it's basically we

2:58:39 will tow the line with the Trump administration.

2:58:42 And it's been this huge fight to try to prevent schools from doing this.

2:58:48 But he's but in order to get this compact uh signed uh Trump is threatening

2:58:56 the funding of many universities and Cornell was

2:59:00 is one in particular that has basically uh caved

2:59:04 to his demands um by holding up their funding

2:59:08 and saying that people who signed this uh

2:59:11 compact that uh universities that sign this compact

2:59:14 will be given a fast track towards funding.

2:59:18 So he's illegally holding up for the most part gone through.

2:59:29 There's a few universities that have signed on to this, but it's illegal.

2:59:36 It's a [clears throat] major violation

2:59:37 of the freedom of speech and academic freedom.

2:59:40 and um and courts have ruled already that it's illegal, but it the you know,

2:59:47 we're at a point where where the Constitution

2:59:50 and laws don't really matter to the president.

2:59:53 As long as he gets to censor history, that's what matters.

2:59:57 Um so so in this case the the thing

3:00:06 that is woke is academic freedom in and of itself.

3:00:16 Academic freedom is being is being held hostage through funding.

3:00:23 Um and he's actually gotten like uh major payments uh you know that they

3:00:32 will that with the government that would restore the 250 million um in funding.

3:00:39 So like for instance,

3:00:40 how he's funding uh how he's independently funding the uh the um

3:00:46 destruction of the east wing is through uh these kinds of settlements.

3:00:55 So, not only is he using this to try to threaten academic freedom,

3:01:02 he's also using it to build his vanity project, which also destroys history.

3:01:09 Quite literally destroys history.

3:01:12 Um, so it's multiaceted attack.

3:01:19 Um, and it's ongoing.

3:01:20 So, this is this is an active story.

3:01:23 This is not something that is done.

3:01:24 It will it will continue to happen and more

3:01:27 colleges are going to end up caving to his demands.

3:01:31 So, this is this is something that I'm sure there there was news on it today.

3:01:36 Um, but I just don't have the the the stomach to try to dig through all that.

3:01:43 The point is we're here to figure out what

3:01:46 they're labeling as woke and and demanding censorship of.

3:01:51 And in this case, it's academic freedom.

3:01:57 So, um, let me catch up on the comments and we'll

3:02:02 move on to the next section of this live stream.

3:02:07 It's already been 3 hours.

3:02:08 Jeez.

3:02:09 Um, Yeah.

3:02:23 And like Chloa here uh says uh ideological diversity and it

3:02:28 is just filled with people who hate different diversity of minorities.

3:02:34 Exactly.

3:02:36 You know, they they want DEI,

3:02:39 but when they say de when they say they want ideological diversity,

3:02:44 they just want freaking their falsehoods reiterated back to them.

3:02:48 They just they literally want indoctrination.

3:02:51 That's all it is.

3:02:53 That That's what ideological diversity is.

3:02:55 They want indoctrination.

3:03:00 Um, [clears throat] just trying to catch up.

3:03:38 All right.

3:03:38 So, I'm going to open the articles for the next one real quick.

3:03:49 I still have three sections, but these next three sections are a lot shorter.

3:03:54 Um and in fact the next one.

3:04:00 So [snorts] um the next section of this is uh and if you're on YouTube,

3:04:07 you can actually see the everything that's

3:04:09 uh that's coming up in the description,

3:04:12 but I had to rephrase it because I didn't want

3:04:15 this to get demonetized because uh the next one is violence.

3:04:22 Now, for those who don't know, I am a historian of American violence.

3:04:26 This is kind of my specialty.

3:04:28 Um, and so the uh there's one thing

3:04:34 that is uh uh that there's particular interpretations that are

3:04:42 being used that are being said to be woke

3:04:45 and therefore used to attack opponents and censor them.

3:04:49 in particular, election denial and the January 6 pardons.

3:04:56 Um, I don't even need to pull up a news article on this.

3:04:59 You guys are well aware of uh Trump's election denial.

3:05:05 I like it's obvious.

3:05:08 Um, you know, the the the fact is that um that uh there the fact

3:05:23 is that uh Trump has actually denied every single election he's been a part of.

3:05:33 Um he denied that uh he lost the popular vote in 2016.

3:05:37 He denied the entirety of the election in 2020 and he

3:05:41 has repeatedly denied that he lost any states in 2024.

3:05:46 Um so so this is a a recurring uh batch of denial for him,

3:05:54 but he's now using it to attack historians

3:05:57 and that who are just trying to tell the truth.

3:05:59 Right.

3:05:59 All right.

3:06:00 So, so the the you know the history like

3:06:06 Trump's actual history is uh what I'd put down here.

3:06:11 Um, the history of Trump is woke.

3:06:30 Um, and of course there's the uh there is the um,

3:06:38 you know, January 6th which resulted from his uh, election denial.

3:06:43 You know, he instigated that.

3:06:46 Uh, and that was an insurrection.

3:06:48 That's violence.

3:06:49 Five people died.

3:06:50 Five people died.

3:06:51 And there were there were 1,500 convictions.

3:06:57 1500 convictions already and they and prosecution was

3:07:02 ongoing for many others but Trump pardoned every

3:07:07 single one of them claiming that they were

3:07:09 political hostages basically allowing for uh political violence

3:07:16 to continue and worsen so long as you are on his side has made it very

3:07:21 open that political violence is good so long

3:07:25 as it's uh so long as it's against Democrats.

3:07:28 Um, so long as it's against his political enemies, so long as it supports him.

3:07:35 Uh, I've I've talked about this already.

3:07:39 You know, the the assassinations episode is is is already uh available.

3:07:44 You can go watch that if you want a much more deeper thing.

3:07:48 But in terms of what is being labeled woke here is just

3:07:54 uh actual history you know and is being used to promote violence.

3:08:02 He is promoting violence when he pardoned all of the insurrections.

3:08:08 So, next I want to talk about the use

3:08:15 of the Charlie Kirk assassination to silence critics.

3:08:19 Um, so as we can see, this is an AP article saying after Kirk's killing,

3:08:25 a growing chorus of conservatives want his critics ostracized or fired.

3:08:31 Um, there are literally dozens of professors who have

3:08:35 been fired for for what they said about Kirk.

3:08:39 Um, so, uh, after years of complaints

3:08:45 from the right about cancel culture from the left,

3:08:48 some conservatives are seeking to upend the lives and careers

3:08:51 of those who disparaged Charlie Kirk after his death.

3:08:55 They're going after companies, educators,

3:08:57 news outlets, political rivals, and others.

3:09:00 they judge as promoting hate speech.

3:09:03 A campaign and you might remember Caroline Levit actually said that she would

3:09:08 that that hate speech is not free speech even though it quite literally is.

3:09:14 And furthermore pointing out all of the the massive

3:09:20 bigotry that freaking Charlie Kirk spread is not hate speech.

3:09:25 Charlie Kirk was the one spreading hate speech, not the other way around.

3:09:32 Um, so they're using this to silence criticism.

3:09:38 There's a reason why I kept comparing this to the to Crystal

3:09:41 Knock because Crystal Knock was started by an assassination.

3:09:46 Um, though it's probably better to compare it to the Knight of Long Knives,

3:09:50 but that wasn't started by an assassin an assassination.

3:09:54 Um the uh oh I was hoping this one would have specific examples.

3:10:06 Um such tactics rise a fundamental challenge to a nation

3:10:15 that by many accounts appears to be dangerously splintering by politics.

3:10:20 For his part, Trump on Sunday suggested he was already

3:10:24 using the government to look into political adversaries, blah blah blah.

3:10:29 So yeah, this is yet again we can just copy and paste this one

3:10:35 from uh so this is just well no it's more just anti- MAGA people, patriots.

3:11:01 [laughter] Uh, but this is furthermore, they like to be like,

3:11:09 well, if you talk fascism, you know,

3:11:11 then then that's a, you know, if you call Charlie Kirk a fascist,

3:11:15 then that means that you're calling for his death.

3:11:17 No, it doesn't.

3:11:19 Um, furthermore, claiming that anyone calling somebody a fascist is a call

3:11:25 for violence isn't in and of itself a call for violence.

3:11:28 Trump put out an enemies list.

3:11:30 Trump put out a uh uh Trump put out a uh, you know,

3:11:36 he he illegally designated anyone called anyone he

3:11:41 deems Antifa to be or anti-American to be uh, to be a domestic terrorist.

3:11:48 even though he doesn't have the power to do so and directed their persecution.

3:11:53 This is grossly illegal.

3:11:55 Um and and you know very obviously incendiary.

3:12:04 Um you know if you don't want if

3:12:07 you want to prevent political assassinations then trying

3:12:12 to uh lock up your political enemies is

3:12:15 not exactly the best way to go about that.

3:12:17 He's encouraging violence.

3:12:19 He and the fact is, as shown by the January 6 pardons,

3:12:25 he's he's very pro violence, pro- political violence,

3:12:29 just as long as it doesn't hurt him.

3:12:33 Um, so there's that.

3:12:35 And then they use this to specifically remove the uh a Department of uh justice

3:12:48 study which proved that uh people who

3:12:51 commit uh political violence are mostly far-right extremists.

3:12:57 the like far-right extremists are far more violent than than uh uh moderate,

3:13:05 liberal or far-left combined.

3:13:11 It is the far right who are the most dangerous.

3:13:16 But they're using this to deny this history

3:13:20 and to label anyone who who uh opposes them as terrorists.

3:13:28 So once again, it's just, you know, the history uh the historical uh historical

3:13:44 reality of violence is what's woke here.

3:13:48 If anybody has a better interpretation for that, please let me know.

3:13:52 I I think that is pretty much what we're looking at.

3:13:55 And I kind of want to move forward quickly here because

3:13:59 uh it's already been three hour three and a quarter hours.

3:14:03 Um so I want to just kind of move on to the next one if y'all don't mind.

3:14:10 Um, even though it's my topic and everything, I know,

3:14:12 but like you can go to my my assassinations

3:14:15 episode if you want to learn more about

3:14:17 uh the history there and the implications of uh

3:14:21 Trump's massive push for political violence against his enemies.

3:14:27 Uh so, uh let me try to catch up

3:14:39 on comments though in case there were any other interpretations.

3:14:43 Please let me know.

3:14:45 Um [clears throat] [snorts] [snorts]

3:15:26 You're telling me the [laughter] extreme proun people are the most violent?

3:15:31 No, it couldn't be.

3:15:33 [laughter] [gasps] Yeah.

3:15:37 Um, all right.

3:15:39 So, let's uh move on to the next section.

3:15:41 Let me pull up the articles.

3:15:53 And then so the final section of Trump's attack on woke history

3:16:01 um is uh what he lab what is what he's doing to education.

3:16:08 So we talked a bit about the compact already

3:16:12 but like let's go into what it actually says.

3:16:16 Um so the universities are uh responding to the Trump's compact and everything.

3:16:24 Um some have explicitly rejected it.

3:16:28 Vanderbilt uh has said yes and a few have said maybe.

3:16:34 Um oh Grand Canyon University.

3:16:37 Of course Grand Canyon University did oh indicated interest.

3:16:43 Arizona State.

3:16:46 Oh, providing feedback.

3:16:49 Okay, that's not okay.

3:16:53 So, most of these have uh either rejected,

3:16:56 indicated interest or uh provided feedback, but none of them are saying yes.

3:17:02 Um so uh in nearly two months since Trump officials

3:17:08 asked universities leading leaders to give feedback on their plans

3:17:13 and blah blah blah several of those leaders

3:17:15 and blah blah blah have said have said these things.

3:17:18 Um let's see here.

3:17:24 I was hoping this article would actually have

3:17:26 a bunch of like uh what the compact Oh, here's the compact itself.

3:17:34 Okay, cool.

3:17:41 Um, uh, none of this is saying what's in the actual compact.

3:18:05 This is just people say giving their reactions.

3:18:08 I want [sighs and gasps] Okay.

3:18:18 I thought that I'd be able to see what is actually in the compact,

3:18:22 but uh some of it has to do with like anti-semitism, which is not listed here.

3:18:37 [clears throat] Um, do I have to go to the chronicle?

3:18:50 All right.

3:19:03 I get free access to the chronicle through UNM.

3:19:06 Anyways, um Oh, why is it so big?

3:19:22 Let's see here.

3:19:24 Um I'm sure if I just search compact, it'll come up.

3:19:45 under a per proposed agreement,

3:19:47 selecologists would co-sign the president's vision for higher ed.

3:19:51 Uh, oh, this is a podcast.

3:20:05 Right.

3:20:11 Opinion.

3:20:11 Opinion.

3:20:12 Opinion.

3:20:40 Okay, this one should uh say what's in it.

3:20:44 [snorts] Okay.

3:20:52 Those institution, this is Trump saying that those institutions that want

3:20:56 to quickly return to the pursuit of truth and achievement,

3:21:00 they are invited to enter

3:21:01 into a forward-looking agreement with the federal government

3:21:04 to help bring about the golden age of academic excellence in higher education.

3:21:09 Um, the controversial compact.

3:21:12 Is this actually the compact?

3:21:15 Here we go.

3:21:16 Thank you.

3:21:17 Finally.

3:21:18 Why is that so hard to find?

3:21:20 Um, so, uh, there we go.

3:21:29 Uh, oh, because they haven't actually released it.

3:21:38 Interesting.

3:21:42 So basically the he's demanding that the uh that uh universities come into line

3:21:52 with uh with the uh with what he says uh higher education should be.

3:22:00 Um obviously that's yet again the very idea

3:22:08 of academic freedom is uh under attack here.

3:22:14 Um and yeah there's not much more to it.

3:22:20 It's it's the administration is literally trying to force colleges to sign

3:22:26 a compact that they will [clears throat] cowtow to freaking Trump's demands.

3:22:32 It's insane.

3:22:33 It shouldn't happen.

3:22:35 Let's move on.

3:22:36 [laughter] Uh so next is the is

3:22:42 his attempts to destroy the Department of Education.

3:22:46 [cough] Boom.

3:22:52 And in this case, I've already done an episode about this.

3:23:01 We don't need to go too deep into it.

3:23:03 Um Trump literally wants to to remove the Department

3:23:08 of Education and uh and basically uh destroy

3:23:13 all f federal funding altogether for uh education

3:23:18 and any kind of oversight in terms of civil rights.

3:23:23 Um so in doing so he's basically labeled education itself woke.

3:23:31 So there we go.

3:23:35 Finally, let's move on to um his revival of the uh 1776 commission.

3:23:47 So what this is yet again something that I have covered before.

3:23:52 Um I have had uh multiple streams

3:23:54 on the 1776 commission and their terrible uh outcome.

3:24:00 It was hilariously laughable.

3:24:02 Uh, and it was actually a really those some of those were very fun streams.

3:24:07 Um, I'd encourage you guys to go back and look at those.

3:24:10 Uh, they're linked in the description.

3:24:12 So, the um, but the main thing is he re he officially revived the commission.

3:24:20 Um, and so here we see again this is just he's labeling history itself woke.

3:24:29 Um, so, tada.

3:24:34 And finally, we have the last one that we

3:24:41 need to go through the uh crackdown on DEI faculty.

3:24:48 Um so um Trump has gone after faculty as being DEI.

3:25:00 So Republicans and red states have been attacking diversity,

3:25:03 equity, inclusion in higher education for years.

3:25:05 But when Donald Trump retook the White House

3:25:07 and turned the federal executive branch against DEI,

3:25:11 blue state academics had no cause to worry.

3:25:15 a tenure law professor in the University of California

3:25:18 system who wished to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation

3:25:22 and harassment said they read one of the executive

3:25:25 orders that Trump quickly issued on DEI and anticipates trouble.

3:25:31 Um, so basically any professor he disagrees

3:25:37 with, he's labeling as uh promoting critical

3:25:41 race theory or DEI or something along those lines and labeling them as woke.

3:25:48 So here, yet again, it's just academic freedom that's under attack.

3:26:00 Uh so let me catch up on comments and then we

3:26:05 can finally get to like what how uh historians are fighting back.

3:26:26 Sunflower Socialist says, "Uh, DEI faculty just means black people." Yep.

3:26:37 Oh, I guess I can I guess I can add that to the uh to you know,

3:26:44 just say minorities uh are woke.

3:26:53 So added that minorities are woke now.

3:26:56 Um, no, General Patton was woke.

3:27:18 Remember if you have a uh interpretation to add to then

3:27:32 uh put uh hash interpret in your uh in your comment.

3:27:38 Um, and yes, he's bringing back this.

3:27:48 That was one of his uh early uh executive orders.

3:27:51 It hasn't really done anything yet.

3:27:53 That's why it's not that important, but like yeah,

3:27:56 they they brought back the 1776 commission.

3:27:59 Um, yeah.

3:28:18 But we're here.

3:28:19 We're just trying to find what uh like what we were trying to find

3:28:21 throughout all of this was like what they label as uh as woke.

3:28:28 um you know and yeah basic freedom is kind of [clears throat] part

3:28:35 of that but academic freedom in particular um and I think I meant

3:28:42 earlier anti-woke means heteronormative I guess um but uh yeah in terms

3:28:52 of uh education uh what they're labeling

3:28:56 as woke is just academic freedom itself.

3:29:00 Um you know how how dare people have

3:29:05 the ability to teach what they want to teach.

3:29:11 Um so as you can see this is a project uh the their use

3:29:17 of the term woke is literally

3:29:19 a project for indoctrination ultraist indoctrination.

3:29:23 I think that's kind of my overall takeaway.

3:29:27 So, um, you know, we had a couple of overall

3:29:32 takeaways like anything that challenges ultra nationalism is woke.

3:29:36 Uh, yeah, I think that's the that's the best overall one uh we've gotten so far.

3:29:43 Um, is anything that challenges ultra nationalism.

3:29:49 Um, so to review what we have found thus far, um, let me turn off the banner.

3:30:00 Um what we have found thus far is that things

3:30:04 that they have actually labeled as woke were systemic racism,

3:30:09 oppression whatsoever, transgender,

3:30:11 uh systemic racism and discrimination, the southern border,

3:30:15 prejudice and exclusion, uh pride flags,

3:30:18 the middle passage itself, LGBTQ history, uh disabilities,

3:30:25 Texas re the misinterpretation of the uh Texas Revolution,

3:30:30 The Mexican American war itself is is woke.

3:30:34 Fouchy just by himself is woke.

3:30:37 Transgender people are woke.

3:30:39 Un the word unsettling is woke.

3:30:43 Tomatoes are woke.

3:30:45 Um, museums are woke.

3:30:48 The [snorts] the concept that slavery is wrong is woke.

3:30:52 Um, the ability of historians to give advice is woke.

3:30:58 Um, the word gay is woke.

3:31:02 Um, black people are woke, females, anti-Trump authors,

3:31:07 books about Oh, that's supposed to be here.

3:31:12 um books about marginalization, uh opposition to racist treason,

3:31:20 oppos uh uh gay people,

3:31:23 uh the rules of war, cultural awareness, uh and black people once again.

3:31:30 All of that is woke.

3:31:32 Uh got got to get rid of that.

3:31:34 You know, just just the rules of war are woke.

3:31:37 Um, anti-Trump historians, Hispanics, just all Hispanics,

3:31:42 they're all they're all woke.

3:31:43 Um, loan forgiveness is woke.

3:31:46 Uh, academic freedom is woke.

3:31:49 The history of Trump himself is woke.

3:31:53 Um, anti-MAGA people or patriots are woke.

3:31:58 Uh, historical reality, the historical reality of violence is woke.

3:32:05 um academic freedom again.

3:32:09 Uh education itself is woke.

3:32:11 History itself is woke.

3:32:14 Um and minorities are woke.

3:32:19 So yeah, that's all fun.

3:32:23 Um but let's get to how some historians are fighting back.

3:32:36 Oh, there's been 20 comments while I was reading all of that off.

3:32:41 Uh, hold on.

3:32:43 Let me catch up with the comments.

3:33:01 And uh you coup you coup's greatest soldier.

3:33:07 [laughter] The academic freedom line also has to do

3:33:12 with just wanting people uneducated and cutting spending.

3:33:17 Yeah.

3:33:18 Yeah.

3:33:19 But it's ultimately about indoctrination.

3:33:21 They want ultraationalist indoctrination.

3:33:24 So, anything that doesn't align with uh with ultraism

3:33:30 is woke um and therefore uh due to be censored.

3:33:47 Yeah.

3:33:47 I mean like folk, not just folk vernacular but black vernacular.

3:33:52 They're uh limu jner.

3:33:54 Um it's it's uh it comes from uh it comes from black vernacular actually.

3:34:02 Um but like words change over time obviously.

3:34:06 Um you know but it always had to do with recognition of systemic inequality.

3:34:14 Um, and you know, it still does today.

3:34:17 That's I mean that's the real meaning of what

3:34:19 wokeness is is I hope everybody's woke because yeah,

3:34:22 the recognition of systemic inequality is a good thing.

3:34:26 Um, it's also just like being historically literate.

3:34:33 If you deny the existence of systemic inequality,

3:34:35 you're just denying history altogether.

3:34:39 Um so you know being opposed to all of this is

3:34:46 very clearly an attack on just the concept of history altogether.

3:34:50 Uh the labeling things woke history is just a means to an end.

3:34:56 It's a a means to to stop people from being able

3:35:01 to know history and instead indoctrinate them in ultraist lies about history.

3:35:09 It's about alternist indoctrination.

3:35:11 That's that's what it is.

3:35:15 Um, and finally, uh, [laughter] makes you scream as a Mexican American.

3:35:33 Sounds like American America is so desperate to hide its imperialist past.

3:35:38 It is.

3:35:38 That's that's exactly what it is.

3:35:40 Anything that that makes you not feel pride in America,

3:35:44 that's got to be that's woke that we can't we can't do that.

3:35:48 [laughter] Um that's ultimately what it is.

3:35:52 Um so, uh let's go to how historians are fighting back.

3:36:00 Um so first thing I wanted to point out was this.

3:36:06 Uh there are two projects I want

3:36:09 to show you guys that are focused on documenting

3:36:14 what uh museum exhibits or uh or public

3:36:18 history exhibition uh is and how it's changing.

3:36:24 So let's uh watch this little clip.

3:36:26 Sonian Institution established by Congress in 1846 is

3:36:30 the world's largest museum education and research complex.

3:36:34 It's a public private exploring the intersection of art and democracy and DC.

3:36:40 The Hershorn renowned for its collection and exhibitions of contemporary art.

3:36:45 The art there is unlike anything I ever saw in books or magazines in this time.

3:36:52 She was there to document it.

3:36:54 When I saw the request for volunteers,

3:36:56 I thought art is one of the first things to be attacked.

3:37:00 And this seemed like a direct action

3:37:03 for something that I feel is worth protecting,

3:37:05 which is freedom of artistic expression.

3:37:09 Armed with her cell phone camera, Michael carried out her assignment,

3:37:12 photographing all art and signage in one section of the Hershorn,

3:37:17 including works by Jackson Pollock and Janet Soil,

3:37:20 another pioneering abstract expressionist.

3:37:24 It's part of a new grassroots effort to document everything

3:37:27 on display at the Smithsonian's 21 museums and National Zoo.

3:37:32 We call it Citizen Historians for the Smithsonian because we think it captures

3:37:36 the the collective and communal effort that the group that that the project is.

3:37:41 The project is the brainchild of Shandra Manning and James Milward,

3:37:45 two Georgetown University history professors undertaking it

3:37:48 as private citizens independent of the university museum.

3:37:52 So notice that they have to do it independent of the university.

3:37:58 All they're doing is documenting what is on display and what is changing.

3:38:05 And it because this is ultimately to prove that there

3:38:12 there is in fact a a systemic effort to censor history.

3:38:19 um the uh they have to do so independently of the university because otherwise

3:38:25 the university gets implicated in that effort.

3:38:29 Um but yeah, I I think I don't need to play anything more of it.

3:38:34 You you get the idea.

3:38:35 They're got just they're getting a whole bunch of people,

3:38:37 which you can volunteer for, by the way,

3:38:40 um to go [clears throat] and help uh to go

3:38:46 and help uh to go and document uh museum exhibits.

3:38:51 Um, and now that we don't we have

3:38:55 the ability to take good uh flashless photography,

3:38:59 there used to be a huge uh a huge issue for uh for museums

3:39:05 in terms of photography that if you had a flash that could damage stuff.

3:39:09 Uh, lighting in museums is actually uh very highly uh uh uh intentional in terms

3:39:19 of how they light spaces and everything

3:39:21 to try to prevent damage to the artifacts.

3:39:24 Um, and so flash photography wouldn't allow that.

3:39:29 But now we have cell phones that can take perfectly good photos without that.

3:39:34 And like you can't stop people from using their cell phones, you know.

3:39:37 Um, so, uh, that's actually how I do my, like you've you guys have seen

3:39:44 a couple of times where I've I've gone into museums and kind of reviewed them.

3:39:47 And for the most part, I'm just doing it with my cell phone.

3:39:50 And they're they're asking people to do the same thing.

3:39:53 Uh, but here as an act of preservation rather than me just being like,

3:39:58 I want to review this place.

3:40:00 Um, you know, that's my effort is not preservation.

3:40:04 It's it's review which is different.

3:40:07 Um so yeah that that's um an incredible uh effort that they're doing there.

3:40:15 And then there there is a similar effort going on.

3:40:19 Uh you've been selected.

3:40:22 What?

3:40:24 No, I don't care.

3:40:28 Really?

3:40:29 You won't?

3:40:29 Really?

3:40:31 You won't let me scroll through that anymore?

3:40:33 The Boston Globe is freaking gated.

3:40:37 Oh, no it's not.

3:40:38 Okay.

3:40:39 Oh, yeah, it is.

3:40:40 Okay.

3:40:42 Anyways, sorry about that.

3:40:44 But like the uh National Park Service also has this uh there is

3:40:49 a uh effort with the National Park Service to to do that as well.

3:40:54 Let me uh let me get around this uh this uh payw wall.

3:41:10 There we go.

3:41:15 So, uh the National Park Service uh signs and everything you saw specifically

3:41:20 where Trump has ordered signs to be uh removed and uh stuff like that.

3:41:28 So like for instance things that are in danger of being removed um

3:41:34 you know talking about unwilling immigrants

3:41:37 uh uh climate change and civil rights.

3:41:45 Um, so the save our signs initiative has been to uh build up

3:41:53 a a website of actual um you know of uh you know this stuff.

3:42:04 [laughter] Um and uh you can you can take part

3:42:18 in this effort to by going to national parks yourself and taking pictures.

3:42:23 They want your input.

3:42:25 So you guys can help.

3:42:27 You guys are perfectly able to uh um to uh

3:42:35 to help uh uh build up this database and basically

3:42:44 preserve what what is uh still on display uh

3:42:49 and uh document what is being taken away from us.

3:42:53 What is what history is being erased?

3:42:56 For all the all the rhetoric uh that you heard in 2020 about how like oh they're

3:43:04 you know the statues are our heritage and you

3:43:09 know that they're trying to destroy our history.

3:43:12 They're trying to erase history by removing by removing Confederate statues.

3:43:17 And like for the most part I actually kind of agree

3:43:20 with that notion but you can't have it both ways.

3:43:26 You have if you want to freaking preserve statuary then you must

3:43:32 also be viferously opposed to this because this is an actual eraser.

3:43:43 Now, I'll point out that according to an AHA uh study from 20 that went

3:43:51 from uh 2018 all the way until

3:43:53 2022 uh that involves something like 12,000 participants.

3:43:59 uh Americans uh find these kinds of displays,

3:44:04 find museum exhibits and uh and um and public uh

3:44:12 placards and that to be the most trustworthy source of history.

3:44:20 And so removing these placards and censoring

3:44:26 them is censoring the American mind.

3:44:32 Um so this is how you all can actually help.

3:44:36 I I encourage everyone to consider uh you know taking

3:44:42 a look at these programs if you live near DC.

3:44:46 um you know, go go try that uh

3:44:50 go uh volunteer for that uh Smithsonian project if

3:44:55 you're um you know this this one um the um so you can go check that out.

3:45:09 And then there's uh saving our signs which will uh

3:45:16 help document what's happening throughout the rest of the nation.

3:45:19 Uh so please consider doing that.

3:45:24 That's the way that everyone can fight

3:45:26 back against this onslaught of historical eraser.

3:45:30 And finally, let's talk about the AHA,

3:45:34 which has been tracking um federal which has been itself doing basically

3:45:41 what I did throughout the uh throughout this uh throughout this uh stream.

3:45:49 They are tracking it.

3:45:52 Um and you know, this page is a working document.

3:45:57 So, the last time I looked at it, it wasn't actually that full,

3:46:00 but um you know, they're they're also

3:46:03 talking about like historians reactions to this.

3:46:07 So, you have a ton of opeds here uh

3:46:12 as recent as uh September 24th uh of various historians.

3:46:18 You have to be a uh AHA member.

3:46:20 I'm not an AHA member uh to to uh be uh to be on this, but like um you know,

3:46:32 Rebecca Rice, I know her um freaking you know,

3:46:36 you'll recognize a lot of these are are uh

3:46:39 major historians who are uh fighting back and these are

3:46:44 all like opeds and they're tracking all

3:46:46 of the AHA members who are fighting against this onslaught.

3:46:51 As you can see, it's just a huge amount of stuff, right?

3:46:54 Um, and then we have uh initiatives right here.

3:47:03 So, there's other initiatives kind of like

3:47:05 the saving our signs stuff uh where you know if you uh if you got fired uh

3:47:12 they have oral history program for federal employees.

3:47:19 Oral history is essentially just interviews.

3:47:25 Um there's um uh there's uh documents that you

3:47:36 can get a hold of that are talking about like

3:47:39 what are your rights and how can you take action

3:47:41 against something like a firing or something along those lines.

3:47:46 um you know and um here's where

3:47:52 they're like trying to archive military resources since

3:47:55 you know Pete Heg Seth has been

3:47:58 uh trying to absolutely destroy uh military history.

3:48:02 Um so uh these are these are also useful uh ways uh useful projects.

3:48:13 So there's, you know, be [clears throat] loud, you know,

3:48:18 speak out against this and, you know, help preserve what we can.

3:48:27 Um, so that's that's everything on the topic of fighting back.

3:48:38 Obviously, this stream in and of itself is fighting back.

3:48:42 is a form of fighting back.

3:48:44 But, uh, I'd be interested to hear, uh, you know,

3:48:49 obviously I gota I gotta end the stream sometime.

3:48:52 Um, but like uh and I I'll I'll get back to the comments in just a second,

3:48:56 but I I um want for those who are watching through

3:49:01 this after the stream and everything um to uh think about uh

3:49:07 maybe you have some local project that's uh similar to one

3:49:12 of these initiatives that's trying to preserve

3:49:14 this history that is under attack.

3:49:18 Um, and uh, feel free to comment it in the uh, in the comments below.

3:49:25 Uh, realize any URLs I have to approve manually,

3:49:29 so it won't show up immediately.

3:49:31 Uh, if you put a URL,

3:49:33 but feel free to put a URL to like a local history project if you do.

3:49:36 I just have to approve it.

3:49:38 Um, and you know, it takes me time to see that.

3:49:41 And sometimes I only check that like once or twice a day.

3:49:44 Um, but uh you know that that's uh that's a whole thing.

3:49:51 Um and Boxy Lemons, I don't know why you're uh needing to apologize,

3:49:59 but uh thank you for the uh donation nonetheless.

3:50:03 Um I recognize the uh the um photo

3:50:09 of the the northern li the Afghan northern lion guy.

3:50:14 Um, so, um, hold on.

3:50:22 I'm going to try to get through some of these.

3:50:40 Oh, that's an interesting thing.

3:50:41 Uh, sunflower socialist.

3:50:43 What do you mean by uh leaving out uh organized labor and teachers unions?

3:50:49 Um I I don't see how that has to do with woke his being labeled woke history.

3:50:58 Uh explain yourself.

3:51:01 Um, the cynical historian is woke [laughter] pertaining

3:51:10 totalitarian as bad as woke [laughter] And yeah, sunflower socialists,

3:51:36 I really do believe that we that more history

3:51:39 tubers should be speaking out and speaking out viferously.

3:51:43 This is not this is this is an existential crisis

3:51:46 for for uh for history altogether for the history profession.

3:51:52 like if if you're not speaking out, you're you're complicit, you know.

3:51:57 Um if you're pretending that, oh, this is just political.

3:52:00 It's like then you're not part of the profession.

3:52:04 You're refusing to be part to play part

3:52:06 of the profession and therefore we shouldn't take you seriously.

3:52:09 Um no one should and your and your views should should drop accordingly.

3:52:14 Um, but like you know that's the problem like they they people like the I

3:52:25 I'm don't want to speak specifically for any particular channel but like um Oh,

3:52:39 and I see what you're saying there.

3:52:40 Boxy Lens.

3:52:41 I won't highlight your comment uh since you say what you did, but all right.

3:52:47 I I I think I remember that specific thing.

3:52:49 Um yeah, you got uh what's called Socrates protocol very quickly on that one.

3:52:56 Um but uh yeah, I I I genuinely feel like if

3:53:05 you're not speaking out against this, then you're complicit, you know.

3:53:10 Um, especially when you have when I I've been fighting this fight for so long.

3:53:15 Like I mean, literally the the I did the uh attacks on education episode.

3:53:20 Um, I did the uh assassinations episode.

3:53:24 I'm very public about my disdain for for all these attacks on uh

3:53:29 this all these uh all this oppos uh all this attack on history.

3:53:35 But like if I'm the only one you know,

3:53:40 if I'm one of the only ones who are making a big fuss about it,

3:53:44 then it just seems like it's a pet project to me for me, um,

3:53:49 rather than it being an existential crisis

3:53:52 for the entirety of the history profession.

3:53:54 And you could tell, you know,

3:53:56 for historians who are actually like affiliated with academia,

3:54:01 it is it is very much recognized as an existential crisis.

3:54:07 Um but like uh you know the problem is the vast majority

3:54:20 of history tubers are not actually like clued into the history profession.

3:54:25 They are not professionals.

3:54:27 Um and that's fine.

3:54:29 Amateurs are welcome.

3:54:32 But that means that they should pay attention to professionals

3:54:37 who are aware of these issues and do something about that.

3:54:43 Um, and that's why I'm asking you guys to do something about it too,

3:54:47 to consider participating with some of these projects to conserve our history.

3:55:01 Um, so uh let me uh and yeah and uh uh Denver Bear Hunter,

3:55:26 I Um the uh uh you know keeping that history alive even if it has to go

3:55:35 into the private sphere outside of uh public history

3:55:40 is uh is indeed a way of preserving it.

3:55:43 And that's kind of what's happening with these projects.

3:55:46 Um but speaking out against it is also really important.

3:55:54 Um, and I want more people to be

3:55:56 aware and speak out against what is happening here.

3:56:00 We went through so many examples.

3:56:03 I mean, there was points where I was I was visibly freaking uh angered,

3:56:10 you know, that whole thing with the with Hex Seth and Wounded Knee,

3:56:14 like one of the most like ridiculously bigoted things

3:56:17 that this this uh this freaking um administration has done.

3:56:24 And they're not lacking for examples of ridiculous bigotry, you know.

3:56:29 Um, so yeah, uh, keep speaking out, keep producing history, too, you know.

3:56:39 Uh, especially if you have a channel, if you have a blog,

3:56:43 if you have a if you have some outlet that has an audience,

3:56:48 um, speak out and and continue to work on history.

3:56:53 that is challenging that they want to censor when when they're saying,

3:56:58 you know, this is woke history.

3:57:00 Uh this doesn't this shouldn't be said anymore.

3:57:04 That just tells me that I need to make more about that those particular things.

3:57:09 like this list that I've made throughout this stream um is

3:57:19 basically giving me a list of possible subjects for future episodes.

3:57:24 Like, yeah, I need to do more about about like I'm I've never talked to uh

3:57:30 I think I've mentioned transgender people in one

3:57:34 episode ever and I said transgenders like

3:57:38 I didn't even know how to say like how I didn't know that I was supposed

3:57:41 to say trans folk like and I I have a woman's studies professor for a mother.

3:57:49 So, like, um, you know, the the, uh,

3:57:55 this tells me that there's a lot more that I need to do.

3:57:59 [snorts] Uh, but there's also a lot

3:58:00 of this stuff that I've already done episodes on.

3:58:02 You know, systemic racism, for instance.

3:58:04 Like, I I I done an episode on that.

3:58:08 Um, the southern border, I done an episode on that.

3:58:14 [snorts] uh you know uh Texas Revolution and Mexican-American War.

3:58:20 I've done episodes on that.

3:58:23 Museums, of course, I've done episodes on museums.

3:58:26 Um and what like historians can do for advising people.

3:58:30 Black history.

3:58:31 I've done plenty of stuff on black history.

3:58:33 Um females.

3:58:37 [laughter] Uh like but these are the topics that are under attack.

3:58:45 Like this is an interesting one.

3:58:48 Like maybe I need to do an episode on the rules of war.

3:58:52 Like how they developed, how they've gone.

3:58:54 Um, I actually have uh no joke, I have a uh episode written that is

3:59:06 about uh the Nermberg trials and their legacy.

3:59:10 Now, I was intending to do to release this as a uh um [clears throat]

3:59:19 as a uh like episode that came out right as the Nermberg movie came out,

3:59:25 but I didn't get it done in time.

3:59:26 So, I I scrapped that and I'm just waiting for me

3:59:30 to get a copy of the uh Nermberg trial movie thing.

3:59:34 Um and then I'll turn it into a review.

3:59:38 Um, but the the uh the part about uh the legacy

3:59:46 of uh Nermberg and and its uh legacy I have right here.

3:59:53 It's it's it's done, you know.

3:59:57 um as you could see.

3:59:59 Um so, you know, that's kind of uh specifically the rules of war.

4:00:07 And I'll point out um that that's not how you spell implemented.

4:00:15 Um yeah the so this ends with a little bit about the uh ICC and you know uh

4:00:25 a little bit about like our kind of like opposition

4:00:31 to uh to uh the international criminal co court court.

4:00:39 So, um, that kind of ties into Hegsth's stuff,

4:00:48 but the point is you can see these are topics that need

4:00:52 a little bit more coverage now because

4:00:55 these are under attack because they're woke.

4:01:01 Uh, so all good all good topics to cover.

4:01:07 Um, so let me check the rest of the comments real quick.

4:01:17 Um, [snorts] And yeah, Helen points out, like at one point I I misgendered uh

4:01:39 Chelsea Manning because literally as uh Alex says,

4:01:44 I didn't actually know that she was a she at that point

4:01:47 when I did the uh when I did the episode on uh Snowden.

4:01:52 Um I I literally just didn't know.

4:01:57 [laughter and gasps] Um uh and so yeah,

4:02:08 like the problem with uh doing something on on trans

4:02:12 history is that I just don't know it.

4:02:16 Like it's not a topic I've ever researched anything into.

4:02:20 I I the only book on on transgender history that I've

4:02:24 ever read is a book called Black on Both Sides.

4:02:27 Um, and that was incredibly tough to read.

4:02:31 And when I say tough to read, I mean like Hegel tough to read.

4:02:35 You know what I mean?

4:02:37 It it wasn't because like the diffic the history was difficult or anything.

4:02:41 It was just oh so badly written, you know?

4:02:46 It's like reading Judith Butler, you know?

4:02:49 Like you don't you don't read Judith Butler.

4:02:51 You read summaries of Judith Butler.

4:02:53 [laughter] You don't read Hegel.

4:02:56 you read freaking summaries of Hegel.

4:02:59 [laughter] [gasps] Um, like you can't even you don't even read his full name.

4:03:05 You just call him Hegel.

4:03:06 [laughter] Oh, uh, I just noticed uh Oh,

4:03:13 that was I just realized that the Denver Bear

4:03:16 Hunter uh comment earlier was actually uh was with Bits,

4:03:21 so that was technically a super chat.

4:03:23 Um, and uh, thank you, Denver Bear Hunter.

4:03:29 Um, [laughter] Hegel bed, that's saying something.

4:03:40 Yeah.

4:03:41 Yeah.

4:03:41 I had a I took a uh, no joke, I took a class in uh, undergrad.

4:03:46 I I was actually a philosophy minor.

4:03:48 Um, and I took a philosophy class and uh half of the class was

4:03:54 on uh on Hegel and the other half like well we started with K

4:04:00 then we went to Hegel and then we had uh a little bit

4:04:04 of Nietze and then um uh what was the second half of that class?

4:04:16 I can't remember.

4:04:17 Um, I don't think it was even German.

4:04:25 Anyways, uh, the the professor had us read chunks of Hegel and he,

4:04:32 no joke, the first the first time we, uh, had were assigned Hegel,

4:04:36 we come in and all of us have

4:04:38 this like bleak look on our faces like everybody's like,

4:04:41 I didn't I couldn't read it.

4:04:44 I I didn't read it either.

4:04:45 like [laughter] how are we going to discuss this?

4:04:48 And and he comes in and like how many of you even got like three pages in?

4:04:53 [laughter] Like the professor walks in with a with a reading coming in to do

4:04:58 to a class discussion on a reading assignment and and it was like 50 pages.

4:05:04 Um and he's just like, "How many of you even got like three pages

4:05:08 in?" [laughter] like like he knew it was just like no,

4:05:14 we couldn't do [laughter] it.

4:05:18 [gasps] Um, yeah, it's been a long time

4:05:27 since under I graduated in 2012, so from undergrad.

4:05:32 It's been a long time.

4:05:33 [laughter] Like I I got my PhD in 2023, so you know, it's been a while.

4:05:38 Um, homophobia by Britain.

4:06:07 I'm gonna look that up real quick.

4:06:09 Hold on a second.

4:06:25 Book came out in 2000.

4:06:28 Huh.

4:06:30 I mean, I if I was looking for uh specifically for like

4:06:35 trans history or something like that, I'm sure I could find plenty.

4:06:38 Um I just was I'm just not looking for it, you know.

4:06:41 Uh what I've been reading up on right now is Garfield.

4:06:46 Um cuz I plan to review that show.

4:06:48 Uh but I have to read up on Garfield because even though that's my era,

4:06:53 like literally it's my era.

4:06:55 Um and I study American violence.

4:06:57 He's a victim of American violence, right?

4:06:59 But like American violence in the Southwest,

4:07:02 which has very little to do with presidents,

4:07:04 so I don't actually know that much about Garfield.

4:07:06 So I had to look.

4:07:07 So I'm reading up on that.

4:07:09 And also like uh the thing that I'm writing right

4:07:12 now is a bunch of stuff on uh Hawaiian history.

4:07:16 So that's uh so you know you go from project

4:07:21 to project and uh sometimes I pick up new information.

4:07:26 and other times is like that's too overwhelming.

4:07:29 I don't want to touch it.

4:07:31 Uh I've had a number of times where I've

4:07:33 thought about doing an episode about the uh the history

4:07:36 of Palestine and Israel and I've just every time

4:07:40 I've been like nope no I'm not touching that.

4:07:42 Um I remember I want really wanted to review El Sid and then

4:07:48 I started reading up on it and it's like no no it's too complicated.

4:07:51 Um, I was going to do a review

4:07:54 of The Wind That Shakes the Barley versus uh Michael Collins.

4:07:59 Uh, the those two movies which were kind of closely

4:08:03 uh uh close to the release of each other.

4:08:07 And I started researching the um the Irish

4:08:10 civil Irish independence and the Irish civil

4:08:13 war and I kind of went like oh no this is this is too much.

4:08:17 So sometimes I will have uh have topics that I'll get interested

4:08:22 in possibly doing something about and then kind of go n that's too much.

4:08:27 [snorts] And I could see that being with uh with uh

4:08:30 you know uh uh gay history or trans history or whatever.

4:08:35 Um I don't know that that's in the future.

4:08:39 Um that is a good list of things that I need to cover though.

4:08:43 [laughter] Uh [laughter] still haven't

4:08:52 BEEN [laughter] it's it's too complicated.

4:09:00 Dang it.

4:09:01 And like it is it's one of those things where if you step into it,

4:09:07 it is like it's so easy to uh to to to step

4:09:13 into something that you don't realize that you're doing something wrong.

4:09:16 Um they're they're like specifically Irish independence

4:09:20 and Civil War that that particular history is so fraught with like you got to be

4:09:28 very meticulous in in getting a good interpretation.

4:09:31 Um and I'm just not willing to do that.

4:09:34 [laughter] It's too much.

4:09:37 Um and I don't want to speak for future historians.

4:09:45 I don't know.

4:09:45 I don't I never really think of like,

4:09:47 you know, future historians will be crazy about this.

4:09:50 It's like I don't know.

4:09:51 It's like historians choose what they want.

4:09:54 You know, it's like we're we're like we get to choose our topics.

4:09:59 That's like that's literally what we're talking about

4:10:00 here is that I get to choose my topics.

4:10:03 So if I find trans history to be too

4:10:06 complicated or too esoteric or something along those lines,

4:10:09 then you know I can just say I'm not going to do

4:10:12 that or Irish history and was what we were talking about.

4:10:16 Um um [clears throat] [laughter] [laughter] [laughter] [gasps]

4:10:57 So, [laughter] Alex says,

4:10:58 "You have to worry about your car being stolen because I live in Albuquerque.

4:11:03 [laughter] You don't want to also worry about it blowing up.

4:11:07 [laughter] That's why I don't do Irish history.

4:11:14 [laughter] Oh, that's funny.

4:11:19 That's funny as hell.

4:11:20 [laughter] Um uh [clears throat] uh Mike,

4:11:38 you have a video essay on I I don't know what your channel is,

4:11:42 but uh get in contact with me about that.

4:11:47 uh like you know send me a DM or something uh

4:11:49 so with like a link to your channel or or something.

4:11:53 I'm interested.

4:11:55 Um [clears throat and cough] but uh

4:12:06 [laughter] some socialist like I'd be the culprit.

4:12:11 [laughter] [laughter] So, um I think that's a a good place to end it.

4:12:29 We're now four hours over uh over four hours.

4:12:33 Um the the main part I don't know why I kept this banner going this entire time.

4:12:37 That's bad.

4:12:38 Um but it's uh it's time for me to call it a night.

4:12:42 It is now 8 o'clock.

4:12:44 I'm gonna hit the brewery after this actually.

4:12:46 [laughter] Um, so cuz I didn't even I didn't even finish my wine.

4:12:52 I got I got I started off with that much wine over the course of four hours.

4:12:57 I drank that much.

4:12:59 So, cheers to y'all and hope you all have a good night.

4:13:10 All right, good night everybody.
