Anthony Edwards, Ayo Dosunmo & Naz Reid speak after the Wolves’ Game 4 win | NBA on ESPN
NBA on ESPN
0:00 Aunt, uh, in the in the fourth quarter,
0:02 you guys were down eight, you scored five straight points.
0:05 Did you just kind of feel the game slipping away or kind of what was
0:09 your mindset during that that portion of the game to kind of reignite the team?
0:16 Um, today is Mother's Day and um,
0:19 so I just wanted to win for my mom and it was just that simple.
0:25 Was she on your mind all day today or Sure.
0:27 Yeah.
0:28 I couldn't lose this game for her.
0:29 For sure.
0:32 And what what have you learned and what have you learned over these years?
0:36 Uh how how have you grown as a person without your mother and your grandmother?
0:40 It's draft season and people remember the photo of you getting drafted.
0:43 How have you grown as a person since?
0:47 Uh I mean the older you get, the more mature you get.
0:50 But I think it's not just about me, it's the people around me.
0:53 Um the people around me, man, they're not just like yes man.
0:56 It's not a bunch of people that's just willing to do anything.
0:59 and you say, um, these people really want to see me succeed and, uh,
1:03 they don't let me take a day off.
1:04 Uh, they stay on me.
1:06 So, I appreciate everybody that's in my circle, but that's enough about me.
1:09 Let's ask about my team.
1:11 I can do that.
1:12 Uh, Nas, you you check into the game there at the end and you're next
1:15 to both Julius and Rudy doing seen that a little bit uh in in the postseason.
1:20 What What kind of goes through your mind or like
1:23 the group's mind when you guys go with that really big lineup?
1:27 I lie.
1:27 I ain't even noticed that.
1:28 I ain't going to front.
1:30 Um, I'm just hooing for real.
1:32 Just trying to make plays.
1:33 I do more than scoring.
1:35 So, I'm just, you know, trying to make plays whatever I whatever I could do,
1:38 whether it's passing, rebounding,
1:39 diving on the floor, uh, helping my teammates, you know,
1:43 get to the basket, screening, whatever I could do.
1:45 I ain't going to lie, I didn't I didn't even notice that.
1:48 And when they when they don't have Wyama
1:50 out there for the second half of the game,
1:52 what what changes about the way that you guys approach offense?
1:57 I don't know, honestly, man.
1:57 I think it was kind of harder um just because
2:02 I mean of course they're a really great team with him
2:04 on the floor but they play a lot slower when
2:05 he's on the floor cuz you know everything is evolved around
2:08 him when he's not on the floor everybody has played
2:11 it it's just like you know when every team is missing
2:13 their best player everybody plays free they get more shots more
2:16 confident so I think um it was a lot harder honestly
2:21 Nas in terms of uh in terms of taking the elbow
2:25 um were you surprised how How much did it impact you?
2:28 How much did it hurt?
2:29 And uh have you been hit like that before this game?
2:33 Pain is weakness leaving the body.
2:34 That's it.
2:39 And you want to talk about your teammates.
2:40 Finchy just talked about Nas's defense this whole series.
2:43 Can you talk about what he's contributed?
2:46 Yeah, man.
2:46 Um I tell Nas all the time if if if he's guarding at a high level,
2:51 we're a hard team to beat.
2:52 But it's not just his defense, it's his offense.
2:54 Like his three ball wasn't falling today.
2:55 And I told him, you know, play off the catch.
2:58 Like, they going to run you off the line
2:59 just cuz they know you're a great shooter.
3:00 And find other players, find your teammates, get to the rim,
3:04 crash the offensive glass, and he did all that.
3:05 He had a big time rebound at the end of the game to kind of seal the game.
3:08 Um, and yeah, he just been playing entire time, man.
3:12 He dive on the floor.
3:13 He do all the little things that other people don't want to do.
3:15 So, yeah, he know I love him.
3:16 That's my brother.
3:17 I know stylistically you said it kind of shifted,
3:20 you know, with that Wimbody out there,
3:21 but did you all feel it felt like late you got a lot of stuff at the rim.
3:25 Did you feel like the rim was a little bit more openly in the course?
3:29 Of course.
3:29 Um I mean everybody know the rim is going to be
3:31 a lot more open when he's not on the floor.
3:32 But um for them offensively, yeah,
3:35 they they play a lot more loose when he's not on the floor also.
3:38 But yeah, I mean he's 8 feet tall,
3:40 so he cover up the rim anytime he on the floor.
3:44 Um ha, you had a very good um energetic game in the within the third minute.
3:49 Um what what mindset do you have in the fourth quarter?
3:53 Who you talking to?
3:55 I'm sorry I didn't I didn't hear you.
3:56 Oh yeah, I was talking about um the last three minutes.
3:58 It was very energetic for you.
4:00 Um what was your mindset like you know towards that moment?
4:05 Um I just wanted to help impact the game any way I could.
4:08 Um, of course, you know, 3 for 12, I don't have the best offensive night,
4:12 but you know, you can't control the ball going in the hoop.
4:15 You can always control your your mindset, your attitude,
4:17 being there for my teammates the whole game.
4:19 And, um, down the stretch when my number was called,
4:22 I just wanted to be there and and help my team get the win.
4:26 Um, and this time of the year, it's all about getting the win.
4:30 And, um, I just wanted to help contribute um,
4:32 any way that I um, could down the stretch.
4:36 Um, it seemed for the second game in a row
4:38 that the Spurs kind of got hot in the third quarter.
4:40 What is it going to take for y'all as a unit to make adjustments to kind
4:42 of slow them down and shift the momentum back your way during the third quarter?
4:47 Gordon, uh, we we we got to come out,
4:49 the starting five got to come out, um, with a lot more energy.
4:53 Um, looking like we ready to play.
4:55 I think, uh, I was a big part of that in that third quarter.
4:59 I I was gassed a little bit,
5:00 so I came out like super low on energy just walking up and down the floor.
5:04 So, um, my teammates got to get on for that.
5:08 Um, yeah.
5:10 And, uh, 22 now going back to their house.
5:12 I mean, just walk me through where you guys
5:14 are at mentally now after a big win like this just to kind of take it back
5:17 to their place and try to wrestle this series lead back.
5:20 Uh, now it's just take it one game at a time.
5:23 Um, try to figure out how to try to figure out how to get a win.
5:28 That's the only thing that's on my mind right now.
5:30 Trying to figure out how to get a win.
5:32 Um, you know, they're going to have Wimby back.
5:34 He's going to come in with a lot of energy.
5:35 So, just, you know, watch watch them film together and try to figure it out.
5:40 And it was less than a week ago that no
5:41 one really thought or knew if you'd play in game one.
5:43 And now the last two nights or last two games,
5:45 you played 40 minutes or more, right?
5:47 What's this week been like just in terms
5:48 of preparation and getting your body ready?
5:51 Man, I've been doing a lot of stuff to get in shape.
5:54 Um, like I said, I got the best physical therapist
5:56 in the world when it comes to uh my body, David Han.
6:00 So, big shout out to him, man.
6:02 Um, yeah, he's u he's on a whole another level when it comes to that stuff, man.
6:06 So, yeah, he's the best.
6:07 I appreciate him.
6:08 I hope he never leaves me.
6:11 Are you back?
6:14 Wolves back.
6:18 I It's It was down three.
6:20 I think you're up three and the ball is in the air
6:23 and it feels like the whole game was riding on that catch.
6:26 What are you thinking while it's in the air
6:28 and then you it looked like you barely caught it?
6:30 like just what was that setting for you?
6:34 Yeah, I just wanted to u make a play.
6:36 I I understood, you know, the magnitude of the game and um that we we only
6:41 had one and a half seconds to to get it over.
6:43 So when the ball was in the air, um I just wanted to go up there and try
6:48 to come down with it because I knew that, you know,
6:50 pretty much that that could have been a huge part of winning, losing the game.
6:54 So I just wanted to go up there and get it.
6:56 That like a you played receiver or something before, right?
6:59 You saw it.
7:00 with how I look.
7:00 Be real.
7:03 I went I went up there and got that Rody White.
7:05 That's my boy.
7:07 Awesome.
7:07 Thanks,
