4:59 There is a certain amount of energy

5:01 holding these molecules in the shell together, Bob.

5:03 When the egg falls, the gravity pulling

5:05 it to the ground increases its kinetic energy,

5:07 and if that kinetic energy is greater than the bonding

5:09 energy of the eggshell molecules holding the eggshell together,

5:12 it will break on impact,

5:14 which leaves you only two options to stay below the eggshell break line.

5:18 You either reduce the kinetic energy by slowing it down in the air,

5:21 like with a parachute,- Big old tripod, parachute on top.

5:25 or you find ways to spread out that energy over time.

5:28 So maybe we have to make like an outer shell with a foam core.
