0:17 Heat.

0:17 Hey, Heat.

0:30 Hello everybody.

0:31 Sorry I'm not there with you today.

0:33 I am in beautiful Scotland.

0:35 Have a little look at this place doing some salmon fishing.

0:37 Haven't caught anything yet, but I do not care.

0:39 I'm in the outdoors and I'm absolutely loving it.

0:42 I've left you in the more than capable hands of Tom, Toes, and Watt.

0:47 I'm a little bit gutted I'm not there.

0:48 I can't lie because me and Tom are neck andneck

0:51 on the quiz and I need the boys to step up today.

0:54 I need Watt to hopefully have not had

0:56 about 50 points of Guinness at the weekend.

0:57 He's got his agame on today cuz I need you to win the quiz.

1:00 All right, mate.

1:00 Um, enjoy the show everybody.

1:02 Love you lots.

1:03 See you next week.

1:04 Welcome to the football filling.

1:05 Yes, I am doing the intro today because Mr.

1:08 Foster is up north in Scotland doing some fishing.

1:11 So, let's give him the week off.

1:13 But don't fear, we've got an incredible show.

1:15 Everything is happening in the world of football.

1:17 FA Cup, National League scenes, relegation battles,

1:21 and we've got former England goalkeeping coach,

1:25 Southampton coach, Premier League goalkeeper,

1:28 and drinking heavyweight Dave Watson.

1:30 That is some intro.

1:31 The best intro I've ever had, actually.

1:34 And we have got backto back promotion winning captain, Rexom legend, Bentosa.

1:41 Hello.

1:41 Nice to have you here.

1:44 Loads of energy.

1:44 Come on.

1:45 Loads of energy.

1:45 Loads of energy.

1:46 Come on.

1:47 Right, should we start off with Arsenal and Newcastle?

1:50 Uh, what?

1:51 What did you make of this one?

1:52 Well, look, they got over the line, didn't they?

1:55 A huge huge win for them.

1:56 And I I actually think it's actually put

1:58 them in with a fighting chance again, hasn't it?

2:01 I think you'd want to play Newcastle.

2:03 I'd seen them the week the week before or two weeks ago up at Palace.

2:08 I thought they were so poor.

2:09 Um, I think Arsenal had to win the game, didn't they?

2:13 And um, it were nice to see.

2:15 I thought they played well.

2:16 I thought Newcastle are just waiting for the beach to be fair.

2:21 They're just cruising, aren't they?

2:22 Newcastle.

2:23 Look, I think obviously when you're in Edd's position,

2:26 you're not quite sure who's doing what.

2:27 There's so much rotation.

2:29 I change the goalies again.

2:30 Um, he just can't find a solution.

2:33 And he can't find ultimately in that position

2:35 when a manager is under real pressure.

2:37 You want 11.

2:38 Who you really believe in?

2:40 Five.

2:40 Five in a row.

2:41 They've lost now.

2:42 Newcastle toes.

2:43 You were there a young player, weren't you?

2:44 What will a crowd be like now in this situation?

2:47 Oh, I think they're baying for blood a little bit,

2:49 which is sad really because he's obviously done such a good job and he already

2:52 have winning that first trophy in what 50 was it 50 years or 70 years.

2:56 Um, and for for him now to I don't know.

2:59 I don't want him to go out because it would be going out with a whimper,

3:02 but also off the back of the summer when they had such poor recruitment,

3:06 you kind of want to go right,

3:07 let's give him another opportunity to go and recruit better this summer.

3:10 But in terms of watching Arsenal, I was so frustrated.

3:12 I know you said it was quite comfy, but the Aula chance right at the start,

3:16 the whistle chance right at the end and I was watching

3:19 I was literally thinking I'm I'm actually sick of watching Arsenal.

3:22 I promise you it is like You're an Arsenal fan by the way.

3:25 Yeah, I'm sick of watching them because like I'm

3:27 thinking right they're off the back of four defeats.

3:30 They got slapped by Barcelona not long ago and I'm going well this is

3:34 a game where you go right this is the one for goal difference.

3:37 I know they're dangerous on the counter

3:38 attack and and they've had our number recently,

3:40 but I'm thinking go and get two, three, four past them.

3:44 Go and put a proper marker down, score the goal,

3:46 and it's like they don't really create anything off the back of it.

3:49 It's like so frustrating.

3:51 I just think they're playing so safe.

3:53 Everyone in the middle of the park's playing so safe.

3:55 No one's trying to break a line.

3:57 No one's trying to really go and say, "Right,

3:59 I'm going to go and take the game by the

4:01 scruff." Functional, aren't they?

4:02 At least on the plus side,

4:04 EZ was bought in for this very reason to have these big moments and possibly

4:08 Artetat has realized now that he is that that game changer that match winner.

4:12 I actually have been a little bit pissed off keep

4:15 listening to Arsenal set piece this set piece that they

4:18 do the same thing all the time but it were

4:20 actually a good set piece and it were a good goal.

4:22 They worked out if you play their action you can get a shot off from the edge

4:25 of the box and it would have for a set piece it were really not clever.

4:31 They knew there were an opportunity and it all fell into place.

4:34 But I'm a bit like you from that point on like

4:37 it were like George Graham being manager right we're going to old

4:40 Arsenal we win 1 nil but ultimately like you said it could

4:44 well go down to goals this year and they're playing a team

4:47 actually I think if you got a second it could be

4:50 anything and I know that they did have a couple of half

4:52 chances and this is probably the chance of the game wasn't

4:55 it really cuz it would have very very good pass from Vamada.

4:59 Yeah that's unbelievable.

5:00 Um I just think that Newcastle uh did their bit

5:06 but Arsenal played ultimately even after 1 nil up with real fear.

5:13 It's that and the handbrekes too much and it might

5:17 cost them but ultimately mate they had to get over

5:20 the line in that it did not matter and I

5:23 think you could just it was just relief wasn't it

5:25 and even the managers when when you see him doing

5:28 his press after it were he he's just thinking we needed

5:34 to win that he couldn't really I didn't think he

5:36 just could compute it would just knock everything off we've won

5:39 but they were there for they were there

5:41 for the takings obviously city scraped through midweek really.

5:44 Yeah.

5:44 In with Burnley, but Newcastle were there

5:47 like for for the taking and and we all said last last week we

5:51 can see them beating Newcastle and probably should have beaten by two or three.

5:54 So, as it stands, City have played 33, Arsenal have played 34.

5:58 The goal difference is plus 37 City, plus 38 Arsenal,

6:04 but City have scored two more goals with 66.

6:06 So, it could come right down to the wire, couldn't it, D?

6:09 Yeah, it could.

6:10 And I look at like you remember Arsenal as well, they had them fast starts.

6:13 They used to have fast starts at home.

6:15 That that seems to have like disappeared as well.

6:17 And you'd say, wouldn't you if you were the Arsenal staff or manager

6:21 going into that game and you have to play what's in front of you,

6:25 but if you can put a marker down early against Newcastle, you can blow away.

6:29 You can blow them away, can't you?

6:30 Yeah.

6:30 Exactly.

6:30 Yeah.

6:31 I just think as well like City, you know that they've got a 4-0il 5-nil in them.

6:35 They will just go like look at the game against

6:37 um Southampton the FA Cup 1 nil down but then

6:40 they go and have four unbelievable chances like after

6:43 they go one nil down which is the 82nd minute.

6:45 So whereas I don't see Arsenal getting that many

6:47 well and and on another day when they beat Burnley 1

6:50 nil that that could have been whatever you want it to be.

6:53 I mean to be fair and that's the difference.

6:56 They create chance after chance after chance and really good chances.

7:01 Um you we always talk about and I I

7:04 particularly laugh about xG numbers and that but Arsenal's

7:06 xG numbers are very very low to say

7:09 that they are potentially going to be league champions.

7:12 Yeah.

7:12 And when you look at the fixtures left,

7:14 so Arsenal have got Fulham home, West Ham away, Burnley home, Palace away.

7:18 Now that West Ham game and do you know

7:20 what the Fulham and West West Ham game for me

7:22 look like potential banana skins whereas like I don't know

7:24 what you guys think but City we got Everton away,

7:27 Brenford home, Bournemouth away, Palace home, Villa home.

7:31 I just I just feel like City

7:34 Well the kind of more like they're kind of cruising through at the moment.

7:37 the the reality is like obviously Silva's a very good manager in it

7:41 and Arsenal it at home to Fulham it looks on paper quite easy but I

7:46 think Fulham he'll set up in a way and it'll be a transition game

7:50 counterattack and when you sit in at the Emirates against Arsenal and don't give

7:56 him too much scope for the quicker wingers and this pace to hurt

8:00 you it will be a really difficult game for them and I think ultimately

8:04 on paper you'd always want Arsenal's fixtures But the West Ham game will be

8:08 absolutely monumental because if West Ham actually

8:12 could get over the line in that game, they're probably safe.

8:15 But also, I'm half thinking I don't want Arsenal to go and slap

8:18 West Ham because that would do their goal difference even more damage.

8:22 Yeah.

8:21 So, the Tottenham Tottenham possibly going down as well.

8:24 Yeah.

8:24 No, sure.

8:25 But I think I look at City's fixtures there.

8:26 Everton away tough.

8:27 Brenford at home.

8:28 You never know what they're they're going to be because

8:30 they can be they can be really tough to play against.

8:32 Bournemouth away tough.

8:34 Palace has obviously got to be in there as well.

8:35 And then you've got is it Villa?

8:37 Yeah, Villa last game.

8:38 But Palace and Villa might have a European final to come to.

8:42 Yeah.

8:42 So like that that might change the whole dynamic.

8:46 So um you never know on them games.

8:49 Look, I I just think whatever City have in front of them,

8:53 City play a certain way and they are a winning

8:57 machine and I don't expect them to come up short.

9:01 So it could well go down to goal difference and then then you are looking at it.

9:05 But either team make a mistake now and that will be it I think.

9:09 Yeah.

9:10 And and actually when we just look at Newcastle again I think Eddie Eddie

9:13 is probably under a bit of pressure now because they've lost five in a row.

9:16 Last season they finished on 66 points and and listen

9:19 teams aren't always going to progress every year.

9:21 Look at Liverpool right?

9:23 But it's the manner isn't it?

9:24 So 66 points for Newcastle last season they're currently on 42 points.

9:30 If they if they end up the season on 45 46 points, it's a big drop off from

9:35 the reality is mate, they're very low down in the table,

9:38 even though relegation's not not, you know, an option or a threat,

9:43 but they are finishing the season ultimately with a whimper.

9:47 I know they've got Brighton at home next week and Brighton will

9:50 be expecting to go there and win that game because they're really challenging.

9:53 I mean, potentially still to get it anywhere near the top five.

9:56 That's how much of a turnaround Brighton have had.

9:59 So, Newcastle not be looking forward to that fixture at St.

10:01 James's Park next week, I can tell you because Brighton will be expected

10:05 to go up there and go and win that game.

10:08 Yeah.

10:07 But Newcastle have got to somehow get 11

10:10 players out there that are bleeding black and white

10:13 as you well know and it doesn't seem to quite be like that at the moment.

10:16 It's a fact as well they lost that the time we're derby the both both

10:19 of them and Sunderland are comfortably going

10:22 to finish above Newcastle for the season as well.

10:24 For me that's like that's an absolute no no.

10:27 You can't you can't lose both of them

10:28 games and finish below them in the league like

10:30 you know from a pure pride in the city

10:33 point of view because that will hurt the fans

10:35 more than anything and that's why they'll be

10:36 so frustrated because like I said last year they

10:38 won a trophy got into Champions League did well

10:42 to get through in the Champions League and then

10:45 well I I I said it last week I think and it's good

10:48 that you're here now you've been up there you've played for that and I

10:51 mean I've been up there I used to think it was so difficult

10:54 to get a result up there but if you're a Newcastle fan and yes,

10:58 he did such an amazing thing to win a trophy last year, but it's gone.

11:02 He's that's that's so far down the line now.

11:05 The here and now is what would you think

11:08 the majority of fans want come the end of the season?

11:10 Do you think they want change?

11:13 I I think they I think a majority are probably sick of him now.

11:16 Yeah, I think they are.

11:17 I think they feel like I feel like they think he's taken it as far as he

11:20 can take it because they've they've had kind

11:22 of the ups and downs and that's what I mean.

11:24 It's sad.

11:24 It's it'd be quite sad to see him go out on a on a whimper

11:27 the way that he's going to he could potentially leave a club.

11:29 I know at match the day they were talking about,

11:32 you know, he could go and get the Man United job,

11:33 he could go and get the next England job, Tukul leaves after the World Cup.

11:37 Um, but it's it's easy to say that, isn't it,

11:40 when you've got so many top top managers that are out,

11:42 but like I I think now, and I don't know if if I've said it before,

11:46 but I think now England job and top top jobs, yes, he won a trophy now.

11:52 So it it's taken that off his back.

11:54 But if you're going to go to Man United or ultimately England

11:58 are trying to get a trophy for the first time since' 66,

12:01 what England are looking at as an organization and certainly these top clubs,

12:06 they're looking at serial winners, not just winning matches, winning trophies.

12:10 That's what these clubs or England now expects.

12:13 And Eddie's got the trophy, but one trophy.

12:17 Yeah.

12:17 the top top managers have got cupboards full of them and that's

12:22 where I think England were looking and that's where I think the top

12:26 he's been let down with those signings I feel this this this year

12:30 cuz they've spent some money and Newcastle aren't a team where he's going to go

12:35 in and and win lots of trophies and he's

12:37 done the hard bit and w the the first one

12:39 and now was the season to go right let's

12:41 establish ourselves have another good cup run and it

12:44 just hasn't happened and those signings haven't been very

12:46 The big question is is whether it was him, they're his signings,

12:49 he's decided to sign them or whether it was whoever's recruiting the players.

12:52 It's that's that's the big question because

12:54 they'll know that internally because if they

12:56 know that it was his signings and he's

12:57 got them monumentally wrong apart from Tia,

13:01 there's a lot of money.

13:02 I think that but that's the thing cuz it's a change

13:04 of culture now because Ross Wilson's coming in from Forest, hasn't he?

13:07 So obviously now come the summer they'll be putting Ross under

13:13 a little or a lot of pressure because of what happened previously.

13:17 But who's head is on the block from the previous recruitment?

13:21 I'm not quite so sure.

13:22 Yeah.

13:22 Well, we'll find out soon enough, won't we?

13:23 Should we do uh Monday Night Football chat?

13:25 So, we got predictions for United versus Brenford,

13:28 but this is United's eighth Monday night game this season.

13:32 Now, obviously they've had a a good second half of the season

13:36 and they haven't been in all of the cup competitions.

13:39 Yeah.

13:39 Monday night, what does that make any bearings as a coach, as a player?

13:45 It's just frustrating actually as a coach or a player when I I've done both.

13:49 You just seem to be waiting.

13:51 It seems to take ages,

13:52 especially when you've had a Friday night fixture because you think,

13:55 right, it's game weekend.

13:56 It starts Friday night um Forest obviously going up to Sunderland

14:01 and you're thinking right I should be playing tomorrow or worst scenario I'm

14:04 playing Sunday and then no you got four days to wait

14:07 and yeah I think it is it's very difficult look money in football

14:12 is has taken over the world and it's become an iconic thing

14:15 the Monday night but it's not great for players and staff and ultimately

14:21 it's not great if you're a Brenford fan and you've got

14:23 to get up to Manchester for an 8:00 kickoff on a Monday night.

14:27 Um, but ultimately it's just a waiting game.

14:31 Look, the players are so resolute now.

14:34 It's it's a game and it's whatever,

14:36 but you can't help but look at what's happened over the weekend.

14:39 That's just human nature.

14:41 But like obviously I think United are so comfortable

14:43 in in in where they are that this game is what it is.

14:47 But United are such a big machine that they they

14:50 generate being on the telly more than most to be fair.

14:53 And the difference sorry culture culturally in the past as well you'd be

14:57 thinking oh I miss my weekend but the players are so professional they

15:00 don't even think like that a day is just a day isn't it

15:02 doesn't matter whether it's Monday Tuesday Wednesday

15:04 Friday doesn't matter what day it is

15:05 they're just happy to play but I think night games do make

15:08 a difference for atmosphere though you know the manu fans whether it's a Monday

15:12 night Tuesday night whatever when it's a night game the atmosphere is that much

15:16 better isn't it it's just that there's something in the air something bubbles

15:20 it's a long journey back to London for the fans

15:21 though But it's that that is a consideration though.

15:26 It's it's annoying as a fan,

15:28 is it?

15:29 Cuz it's like if you've got season tickets and you've got kids or whatever,

15:32 it's it's a late night, isn't it?

15:34 Yeah.

15:34 I I think I talking to a lot of Villa fans this year to be fair.

15:38 like the they all want success, but the Thursday night game,

15:43 it it's a pain in the ass sometimes,

15:45 especially at home and you go

15:47 into that game and then your weekends change because

15:50 you're always them playing on a Sunday

15:52 or potentially a Monday and the whole dynamic changes.

15:55 So, success is not always the easiest for a football fan for sure.

16:00 But look, I I think it's it's actually not got too much riding on it this game.

16:05 And my thought process would be I would think it'll be a draw.

16:09 So I I'll go for a 1-1 1-1.

16:12 Oh, I think 1-1 as well.

16:14 But I think as well for Manu, Liverpool, and who else is it?

16:18 Chelsea there.

16:19 Well, not Chelsea really, is it?

16:21 Okay.

16:21 I think as well for for Manu and Liverpool, it's about pride now.

16:24 Who finishes above each other?

16:26 For me that they're both I think they're unlocked

16:27 on the same amount of points if not is very close.

16:30 And I think for them two,

16:31 it's about who finishes above each other for bragging rights.

16:33 Yeah, I think you're right to that there is an element of that, isn't there?

16:36 And obviously they play each other next Sunday as well.

16:38 So, um I'm going to go I think good feel at United.

16:42 I'm going to go two-nil United Ka at the double.

16:46 Well, he's the star, man, mate.

16:47 You know that.

16:48 Um I I think it'll be a tight game.

16:50 I think Brenford Brenford will look to get something out of it.

16:53 So, I'm I'm happy with my uh draw predictor.

16:55 Should we talk about uh Spurs and the relegation fight?

16:58 So, I had the um displeasure of being at Molyneu at the weekend, right?

17:03 And I'll say that I always enjoy going to Molyneu,

17:06 but the the game, sorry, was it was really poor.

17:11 Like, there were I'll be honest,

17:12 it was two really really poor football teams and um and Spurs definitely limped.

17:18 Well, I I was just down the road watching the Baggies uh

17:21 limp to a nil nil draw against Ipsswitch to get over the line,

17:25 but they actually played really well.

17:26 they were a better team.

17:28 But um there's obviously no love loss between them two teams, isn't there?

17:31 I can't actually do the chant the baggage fans did pregame about the Wanderers.

17:38 Yeah.

17:37 Um you obviously know it very well.

17:39 But um yeah, look, I it it were a must-win game for Spurs, wasn't it?

17:45 Absolutely must-win game.

17:47 and they've showed some fight some resolute resolute performances in there

17:54 and they've got over the line but when they come in and West

17:58 Ham which we'll come on to get a last minute winner that is

18:01 a huge huge body blow mentally even though they've won that game.

18:05 Yeah, I mean the fact that at one

18:07 point they went ahead and West Ham were drawing,

18:11 it looked like the world was conspiring

18:12 to be favorable toward towards Spurs, but

18:15 with West Ham winning, it's they're still right in the thick of it.

18:18 What was the mood like in the in the ground when when they found that out?

18:22 Um yeah, obviously it was the classic kind of cheering and then um down

18:26 with the wonderers was the wolves singing

18:28 back to them a couple of minutes later,

18:31 but it was um yeah, it was really really poor.

18:33 It was nice to see Kinsky rebuilding his form.

18:36 He made a decent save at the end um as he patted with a free kick.

18:39 It was a good save though.

18:40 Yeah, and actually, do you know what?

18:41 He looked really calm.

18:42 Um he looked really calm.

18:44 His distribution was solid.

18:46 Um so I was really pleased.

18:47 The way he came out for that one, the one-on-one.

18:49 Yeah, good decision actually.

18:50 Yeah, he looked he looked very assured, didn't he?

18:52 Andre was very lucky not to get a red.

18:54 He had a kind of a two-footer which in the stand

18:56 looked bad and then when you look back at it,

18:58 you kind of go feel like feel like he got away with that one.

19:01 And then Chavy Simmons is a sus suspected ACL.

19:06 Well, they've said he's out for the season

19:07 and when you you look back I don't like looking

19:09 back on injuries when it shows you the replays

19:12 but the mechanism would suggest to me ACL for sure.

19:16 You know, I felt I felt bad.

19:18 My mate text straight away I think Simmons has done his ACL

19:20 and and listen putting putting the whole like Spurs banter aside, it's horrible.

19:25 It's horrible to see that not only that he's

19:27 going to now miss the World Cup as well,

19:28 but what a player he is.

19:29 He's actually now coming into his own as well

19:32 and making he's he's almost the one in the team grabbing

19:35 the games by the scruff of the neck and saying

19:36 I'm going to try and drag us out of this.

19:38 But that's why you feel as though it is conspiring against Spurs

19:41 like in the injury list they've had and knees and obviously Salanki

19:46 went off with hamstring and he you're 100% right he's the one

19:49 who actually over the last few weeks has has shown a little bit

19:52 and like is that now going to put so much pressure on Zerby

19:58 that he has to put Madison in who is going to be

20:01 a huge risk to put in a injury-wise but then the pressure he's

20:05 going to be under to try and save the to put him in.

20:09 I think he comment that he he felt a pain in the week or something like that.

20:13 So mate, when you're coming back from that, I think that he's he's

20:17 in and around it for what he gives in terms of a bit of leadership,

20:20 character, personality and all that.

20:22 But then to actually put him on the field

20:25 and expect a big uplift would be very very difficult.

20:28 The intensity they're playing at now as well.

20:30 They are they are Oh, they're intense now.

20:31 The intensity has gone up, hasn't it?

20:32 you know, the way that they're sprinting forward

20:34 and trying to be more expansive and they just

20:37 they they seem to be finding them them

20:39 gaps and they've got a real way of playing.

20:41 They actually I think they've got a proper chance.

20:43 I know there's only four games left,

20:44 but when you look at the fixtures, the big one against Leeds and then

20:48 Well, they're they're at Villa next week, aren't they?

20:51 And and that and that could have dropped in the lap

20:54 because Villa have got the two games against Forest.

20:57 Um, and I know that Emry's a magician come come

21:02 trying to win games and it'll not be easy for Spurs,

21:05 but that that couldn't have fallen at a better

21:08 time for them to go to Villa next weekend.

21:10 I I would still worry for Spurs only because of what I saw on Saturday.

21:13 You kind of go, "Oh, they're going to win." Listen,

21:16 speaking to fans on the train and they're going,

21:17 "Oh, if we win this, we win that." You go,

21:20 "Yeah, but look at the look at the evidence.

21:22 Yeah, you're at the game and you'd have seen their fans and

21:27 I'm sure that optimism would have been high prek

21:31 kickoff and even though they did win the game,

21:34 but you would have get got a feeling being there a about

21:38 the team but b about the sport whether they really believe they can.

21:42 And if you were a betting man now, what what would you be telling them?

21:45 I'd be betting on West Ham to stay up.

21:47 I'd be betting on West Ham to stay up.

21:49 Talking of West Ham, they look like at home they they've proper found a way of

21:54 dragging out results, don't they?

21:55 The fans are behind them at the stadium, which is great to see,

21:58 but finding that way to come back from from conceding

22:01 against Everton late on Jbury Hall again scoring

22:05 and then Wilson fumbling that one in the goal.

22:08 But do you know like you you as uh an ex player defender tell me

22:14 when the first thing I saw when I saw that West Ham goal go in.

22:17 Well, Kieran Ju stood at the edge of the box.

22:22 Yeah.

22:21 Watching Callum Wilson put it in and I'm like mate,

22:24 you've just potentially got your team a huge point and then

22:29 surely I'm going to go and latch on to Callum Wilson.

22:33 Is that just switching off?

22:33 Is it?

22:34 It's unbelievable because as defenders, right, that ball goes across.

22:37 Yeah.

22:37 And I can't remember who heads it back.

22:40 Yeah.

22:39 Whoever heads it back across.

22:41 As defenders, you naturally protect the goal.

22:43 So you drop deep.

22:44 You're all on the same line.

22:45 And then of course, you're leaving that gap there.

22:47 But you're hoping that your midfielder, defensive midfielder,

22:49 whoever's playing in that role in that moment has done

22:52 the honest hard work to get in there and make

22:54 sure they pick up that second ball because how has

22:56 he got to tap him from what four yards out?

22:58 There were two there were two Everton lads, du.

23:00 I can't remember the other one.

23:01 And they just stood there on the edge of the box.

23:03 He was wide open, wasn't he?

23:04 What m it's unbelievable.

23:06 Yeah.

23:06 And and even as he could have had he could have had a touch cup of tea,

23:10 got a cigar out and still could have probably

23:11 he could have done.

23:12 But actually looking at the the Spurs thing,

23:14 you say that about Spurs toes like West Ham are sixth in the form table

23:18 since January the 17th and I think

23:20 that's Spurs' first league win inund something days.

23:23 So like when you really look at that Yeah.

23:26 it's it's difficult to make an argument for isn't it?

23:29 Yeah.

23:30 and and that's why I knew it were a monumental win for Spurs,

23:35 but it were never going to be that easy when you've not won a game for so long.

23:39 To get over the line is huge for him.

23:41 But when West Ham have done what they've done there,

23:44 I still I don't know the mentality in the group,

23:47 but when when I've been down at the bottom and you've

23:50 had your win and you see somebody else has won,

23:52 it does deflate you.

23:53 And Spurs ain't used to that.

23:55 And they're thinking they've done the impossible, aren't they?

23:57 They've won for the first time in four months.

23:59 You know what I mean?

24:01 And then the kicking the teeth.

24:02 It does happen.

24:03 But but mate, it is.

24:05 And can they go again?

24:06 Can they fight again?

24:07 Look, what he's done, Nuno,

24:09 at West Ham has been nothing short of miraculous, has it?

24:12 And I believed when he went in there, that he would keep them in the league.

24:17 Took a little bit of time, didn't it?

24:18 It took a little bit of time to get them going.

24:20 But actually, looking at the game,

24:22 I need to ask you about this penalty decision.

24:26 though Fernandez hand ball and possible foul on Barry.

24:31 So he's obviously come up behind him.

24:35 Yeah, he's put his arms towards the ball,

24:36 moved the ball out the way and as David Moyes said,

24:39 like I think the referee said,

24:40 "Oh, he then had a there was grappling." And David Moyes said,

24:43 "Well, this our player wasn't grappling, he was being grappled." Yeah.

24:47 And he said it's within the first

24:48 time he's been said an ambulance's been accidental.

24:52 It's spot on.

24:53 It is hamball.

24:54 how it isn't handled.

24:56 Is is it me, right?

24:57 Or could that have been given for a penalty and a foul?

25:00 Cuz he's he's almost like would have been soft.

25:02 Yeah, the foul would have been soft.

25:03 But do you know when it is his hand because obviously I weren't

25:06 watching it live and then I'd heard all the reports and then I watch

25:09 it cuz you I'm trying to fathom when I'm hearing that it's not

25:13 been given as a penalty how it's not been given in the modern rules.

25:16 You know what I mean?

25:17 I I would never.

25:18 It's just a penalty isn't it?

25:19 Yeah.

25:19 I mean, he's not meant to do what he done,

25:22 but he's grappling and he takes the ball away from him.

25:26 Yeah.

25:25 So, yeah.

25:26 I I don't understand.

25:27 I think that's as bad a decision as we've had this.

25:30 It's It's awful.

25:31 I don't understand.

25:32 But you see like modern day football, right?

25:33 So, do you remember like old old day football defenders would get their arms

25:36 on their backs and it would be

25:37 and obviously everyone then starts falling over like that.

25:39 So, now what defenders are doing,

25:41 they're holding on and holding strikers up so they can't fall forward.

25:45 That's like their new way of defending.

25:46 So when he puts his arm around him and he actually hits the ball,

25:49 I think, how's how's that not a penalty?

25:51 How is it not?

25:52 Your arm's in an unnatural position.

25:54 Whereas if you'd have gone back to how it used to be and you're

25:56 given a little bit of a little bit of a nudge from behind,

25:59 your arm's never going to come into play.

26:00 If you haven't bought it there, it probably wouldn't be.

26:02 But because you're taking it off chest,

26:05 mate, if you're if you're up on a Sunday morning like me,

26:08 mate, get on the big match revisited and watch some old classics.

26:13 Is that the one?

26:13 Is it

26:14 ITV?

26:15 Uh yeah, it's unbelievable.

26:17 It's amazing.

26:18 On a Sunday, you mean what?

26:19 When you when you go to bed on a Sunday?

26:21 No, no, no.

26:21 6 a.m.

26:22 half 6 7:00, cup of coffee, big match revisited.

26:26 I absolutely love it.

26:27 Yeah.

26:27 Oh, there's some classics on there as well.

26:37 You just wake up and let the day unfold exactly like it should.

26:41 I recently just got home from a family holiday in Morca.

26:44 It was supposed to be a lovely chilled week in the sun.

26:46 The hotel we were staying at, though had proper bad boy road bikes tires,

26:50 so I ended up waking at 6:00 a.m.,

26:52 getting a couple hours to myself and my bike,

26:54 and back home before the family had even gotten out of bed.

26:58 Some people like to relax on holiday.

27:00 I like to ride my bike.

27:24 I need to ask you an England question, W.

27:26 So we've we've spoke about form versus, you know, reputation.

27:32 Now Ken and Jbury all maybe defensively a little bit of a lapse there,

27:35 but scores again at the weekend.

27:37 Morgan Gibbs White absolutely rattling them in.

27:41 As an England coach and being there for two tournaments,

27:44 would you rather have the best of the best

27:47 in terms of ability or would you want the form players?

27:50 What's your view on it?

27:53 We always always you have to look at who's producing come the end of the season.

27:59 you have to do, but you've always got

28:01 the comfort blanket of knowing who's been done,

28:05 tried, tested, and done what they've done and being

28:08 able to live and breathe in a tournament.

28:10 So

28:12 ultimately, I think nine out of 10,

28:14 you probably play safer than taking the punt.

28:18 Now, we always took one or two like we took

28:22 Barkley when he were really young and thinking and the thought

28:25 was that he'd drive Roy mad sometimes in training

28:29 because Roy would think he'd take it blind and turn.

28:32 But, you know, if you could break the lines and really drive and sometimes,

28:36 yeah, you'd turn and lose it.

28:38 But the the ability to do something different,

28:41 but if you look at them two guys who were doing unbelievable,

28:44 but look at the guys they're going to be fighting against, like I've just said,

28:47 Barkley were were quite different in my time for the turning,

28:51 the driving, and a bit of ability to go past somebody.

28:54 Like all these England players that we talk about can do that.

28:57 like Morgan Rogers, Jesus Christ,

28:59 is the epitome of getting it in that position and driving forward.

29:04 And look, I I think there's some unbelievable quality,

29:06 but I think it'd be very difficult.

29:08 My challenge would be you said about the tried and the tested,

29:10 they've been there, and there's absolutely zero doubt that

29:15 Foden and Hmer are their ability.

29:19 Yeah.

29:19 But when you then look and Foden in particular,

29:22 can can we honestly say that he's been brilliant for England?

29:25 No.

29:25 No.

29:26 Well, we were singing that song two years ago, Fold's on fire,

29:29 but it never quite lit up like that, did it?

29:31 But I were good at singing the song, you know what I mean?

29:34 Play left wing.

29:35 Yeah, exactly.

29:36 What was the song motto?

29:38 Folding's on fire.

29:39 Well, it's Bruce Spring, isn't it?

29:41 Your defense is terrifying.

29:43 Your det never spilled as much beer in me life.

29:51 Can't believe it.

29:52 you know when you were uh goalkeeper coach England

29:55 so how much would how much of a say

29:56 would you have had on terms of picking

29:58 a team would would Roy have asked you your opinion

30:01 yeah know we would have a a room like

30:04 this and it would be on honest coaches debate it' be Roy

30:08 Ray Gary and myself look ultimately the the decisions the managers

30:12 and it always comes down to him but we were

30:15 never we were never just given the team without all having

30:18 some autonomy hey look I were probably lowest on the pecking

30:22 and he he may never have he might have turn

30:25 turned around and thought bollocks but we always had an opinion

30:29 and ultimately I think that's really healthy in the camp

30:32 because you see the training you actually know about the fixtures

30:35 coming up in in the group games and all all

30:37 the things that actually go into it and some of it

30:41 is form but some of it to play for England

30:43 is knowing that they can do it and that when

30:45 the big moments come like the bigger players who I were

30:49 fortunate enough to work with you know never let you down.

30:52 You always had the debate whether Lampard should play and Gerard should play

30:56 and this but they were such players and to play for England ain't easy.

31:01 Ain't easy.

31:01 Now when you're young and uh a little bit

31:03 naive to the world and you play with no fear,

31:06 but there's a point comes when you play for England that you realize

31:09 that we haven't won a trophy for a very long time and and a lot of things then

31:13 come into the brain and play and you've got to got to be able to get above that.

31:17 But going back to what we spoke about there with uh Jbury Hall and Gibbs White,

31:23 I think at the moment they're both doing particularly well.

31:25 Gibbs White in particular,

31:27 but I think it still be very difficult for them to to get into that squad.

31:30 It's a shame, isn't it?

31:31 Before we move on, just very quickly to put you on the spot,

31:36 your group of goalkeepers then or the current group of goalkeepers,

31:40 what do you think is the like is what's the standard like?

31:43 Do you think you had a better group or is that an unfair question?

31:46 No, it's not it's not an unfair question.

31:48 Look, I I I always felt certainly at the time we had a great group of goalies.

31:53 The last tournament I had, I think it were Hart, Ben, and uh Big Fraser.

31:58 They were arguably at the peak of their powers.

32:02 And for me as a coach,

32:04 training them day in day out and the quality that they could

32:08 deliver and then transferring that into the training sessions with the guys,

32:12 it were probably the best I've seen three goalies operate really.

32:16 But ultimately Joe never took that into the last

32:19 tournament and performed in the tournament.

32:22 So I think Pigford's between 75 and 80

32:26 caps now and for England he's been phenomenal.

32:28 I think he's had one major mistake in a friendly

32:31 at Wembley but he's never ever let us down in a tournament.

32:34 But I I was thinking actually to myself looking at the last

32:38 few goals he's conceded for Everton and thinking how big set plays are.

32:41 So Liverpool scored against him last week.

32:44 Such got one this week in swinging corner,

32:47 obviously physicality of a van Dijk and ultimately a SEK,

32:51 but like obviously the three goalies that I had in the tournament

32:55 were a physically different profiling to what Jordan is and he's been amazing,

33:01 but that could be a sticking point come the summer.

33:03 But I think we'll go with Pigford, Trafford, and Henderson.

33:07 and they are un unbelievable goalies and it would be hard

33:11 to say that they're not as strong as what I had.

33:13 Pigford's done better in the tournaments than the lads I've described.

33:17 I think Trafford's an England goalie in the waiting

33:20 and Henderson's had an unbelievable season for sure.

33:23 Trafford's impressed me that that final really he really impressed me.

33:26 Oh yeah, he's he's the one mate.

33:28 Look, he's been very unfortunate that Donnaruma went

33:30 to City because if he hadn't gone to City,

33:33 I think he'd have been England's number one come this tournament.

33:36 Wow.

33:36 because I think he's got the profiling and the mentality to deal with it.

33:40 Right, before we move on to the next section of the show,

33:43 I've got a little quiz question which

33:45 will give the answers before the quiz starts.

33:48 Is little an indicator to the question.

33:50 So, who is the shortest player to have played in the Premier League?

33:54 Glenn Little.

33:55 There's actually it's actually four.

33:59 My take on it is the only one

34:01 that springs to mind straight away is Alan Wright for Alan Miller.

34:04 Okay.

34:05 They said mine was Shawn Wright Phillips.

34:07 No.

34:08 So on my I can only go by what the internet tells me, but I've got four.

34:11 Harold.

34:11 Harold Leonard.

34:12 No, I've got four here.

34:14 That's right.

34:15 Is one of

34:15 Is Suarez won at Southampton?

34:17 The fullback.

34:19 Dennis.

34:19 No.

34:19 Went to Arsenal.

34:20 Dennis Suarez.

34:22 No.

34:23 No.

34:23 The Portuguese fullback.

34:24 I know you mean right back.

34:26 Oh, Cedric.

34:27 Cedric Suarez.

34:28 No.

34:29 Is he not down there?

34:30 No.

34:30 Um, did uh Jada Silva ever play in the pro?

34:33 Don't know.

34:34 J.

34:34 So is that commentary now just got promoted?

34:36 Don't know but

34:38 we'll come back to that.

34:38 So we've got one out the four is is Alan Wright.

34:41 FA Cup semi-finals.

34:42 City made hard work of it but no surprises really in the semis.

34:46 Who's your who's your money on or is it a daff question to?

34:48 Yeah d city just slapped them 3-0 in the league at Stanford Bridge.

34:51 So I feel like it's going to be a convincing city win.

34:55 Yeah me me too.

34:56 I can't see past city.

34:57 Look, ultimately Chelsea have got uh a team of individuals who on the day if

35:03 they put it together can can be a very competitive and obviously a good team.

35:08 Um City this year for all the moaning

35:11 and groaning that they've probably had look like potentially

35:14 at the money minute my money would be

35:16 on a double which will be a phenomenal season.

35:19 Travelers treble.

35:20 Yeah, they won the league cup domestic

35:21 trouble.

35:22 I mean, seriously, it would be incredible season

35:25 and and I think they're favorites to do it.

35:28 It Chelsea would have to put in a monumental performance.

35:31 You reckon if they hit the treble, Pep might go, do you know what?

35:36 See, I'm going to bow out whilst I'm on the top.

35:39 Well, what more can he do?

35:40 Really?

35:41 I know like I think the Premier League is

35:43 the holy grail because I think the level of the league

35:45 is so big but obviously for these teams they

35:49 always keep talking about the Champions League, don't they?

35:51 So he will have some regrets about could they have done it this season?

35:56 Could they have but he's still done it.

36:01 So it can't get much better than that.

36:03 It cannot get much better.

36:04 And Masca's still lurking in the shadows, isn't he?

36:08 Is it company as well?

36:09 Is it is it kind of teed up for him to walk if they get the treble toes?

36:12 I think so.

36:13 I think I don't as well like he's done he's done another rebuild.

36:17 That's the only reason why I think maybe not.

36:19 But with people like Bernardo Silva leaving is it quite a clever

36:23 time to leave as well or would that be the noise around it?

36:27 It were interesting.

36:28 And I don't know if either of you guys saw in the week uh obviously Italy have

36:31 failed to qualify for the World Cup now

36:33 three times and uh Bonucci the old center half.

36:38 He actually said in a thing that they the Italian federation should

36:43 do whatever to get this guy in the building talking about Guadia.

36:47 That's where he put it out there.

36:49 if he does if he does um the treble,

36:51 that could be a nice little not a sbatical because he's obviously still working,

36:56 but it could be a nice little gig for

36:59 Yeah, look, I I I think for somebody who's done all that he's done,

37:03 he can walk away and put his feet up and he can consult for whatever

37:07 group he wants to because the City Group wouldn't want him to walk away,

37:10 but he could still do that job.

37:12 But I think for somebody of his ability,

37:15 I think it would be very sad if he didn't manage a national team.

37:19 Surely he would want to win the World Cup with Spain.

37:21 So right, Thomas Tukul is probably going to leave

37:23 at the end of this World Cup, right?

37:24 Even though he signed this this new deal, he's probably going to leave.

37:27 There's a very, very, very good chance.

37:30 Why wouldn't we do everything we can do to get him in?

37:34 It's a good question.

37:35 Well, it's a great question and if you go back to what I said 5 10 minutes ago,

37:40 if the if the FA really believe that we've

37:44 got the group of players now, we've got St.

37:46 George's Park, we've got Wembley,

37:48 we've got the group of players that we believe can get

37:51 over the line and ultimately for the FA, money is no object.

37:55 It has got more money than you've ever seen.

37:58 Like, it's coming out the ear holes and will not go into the other holes, right?

38:03 It's abundant with cash and it would cost him a lot of money.

38:07 But if we believe he's best in class and it's about being a serial winner,

38:12 then it's a no-brainer.

38:13 Chelsea FA Cup final but without a manager.

38:18 Renior is gone.

38:19 And we were talking pre-show, weren't we guys?

38:22 those we were saying like although he hasn't helped himself

38:26 and some of the ridiculous chat he you can't help but feel

38:30 a little bit sorry for him because he was like a duck

38:32 out of water wasn't it he shouldn't have got the job

38:35 I don't know it's hard because if you get offered that job

38:39 everyone says why would you take the job why wouldn't you take the job

38:41 will that come up again for him ever

38:44 no I don't think so I think I just think as well

38:46 because of again like going back to whenever we did the hot take

38:50 however long ago it was even Even though they'd not lost a league

38:53 game when I said that about get sacked by the end of April,

38:57 I just thought the players are never going to be inspired by him that like,

39:00 you know, they're going to be talking in the dressing room.

39:02 Initially, you're going to get that initial impact, but then after a while,

39:05 you're going to get bored of hearing it because it's not inspirational.

39:08 The way he's talking to you is no there's no personality.

39:11 There's no passion.

39:12 There's no emotion with what he's saying.

39:14 So, people are going to switch off naturally and they're

39:17 going to start to lose belief in what he's saying.

39:18 They're going to then start thinking, "Hang on a sec.

39:20 This guy never played at this this level as well.

39:23 So it's a personality thing because I get the is it a personality thing

39:27 and the playing at the level there's been a lot of top top man.

39:30 Yeah.

39:31 Look at Jose Marino but look at his personality.

39:33 So it's the arrogance I know that Rosinia came across a little bit arrogant.

39:38 I don't think he did really.

39:39 He was just confident with what he was confident with what he was saying.

39:43 He believed in his messages.

39:45 But I just don't think there was any passion emotion.

39:48 There was nothing like there was no real

39:50 like I don't know he wasn't grabbing anything.

39:52 No look he's he's always going to take the job but in my opinion

39:57 he were a championship manager at best and that's the level

40:01 he needed to go and earn his stripes and prove that you

40:04 could do it but you're never going to turn that opportunity down.

40:08 It came so so early for him and he were never the right man.

40:12 Is this is this danger?

40:14 Is this kind of a red flag to United though?

40:16 Because although Carrick's done really really well, it's a similar scenario.

40:21 Yeah.

40:21 Look, I I think Michael Carrick has got a lot

40:25 more managerial experience in terms of what he got over

40:29 the line at Middlesbrough and at least he's earned his stripes

40:33 and he's he's got this United philosophy and things within him.

40:38 But yeah, I still think it's a I said last week,

40:40 I still think it's a huge decision to go

40:42 down the same route as what they did with Solskja.

40:44 When you go back to what I've said here

40:46 about England or a Man United or a Chelsea, you need serial winners.

40:51 And it's very very difficult to to get them guys to come to your football club.

40:58 But if you go back to what we're saying,

41:01 how does Rinia anywhere come close to what we're potentially talking about,

41:06 the guys who have been serial winners for Chelsea to take that decision?

41:10 It's not his fault.

41:11 He didn't help himself.

41:12 His language and body language at times were really, really poor.

41:17 And the players um ultimately show their power

41:20 and had basically had enough of it.

41:23 Yeah.

41:23 And and I think no matter what you want to talk about in terms of football

41:27 and reputation um should he got the job

41:30 also comes down to a basic life decision financially.

41:34 Yes.

41:34 He's going to get the job.

41:35 He's going to get sacked.

41:37 So like someone like he he he wasn't earning

41:40 50 60 70 grand a week during his football career.

41:42 No.

41:43 So there is an element of that surely.

41:45 Yeah.

41:45 Look, it's it's what he would have been paid

41:49 to walk away from that football club would be they're talking for.

41:53 Yeah.

41:53 Well, it's high eye high eye watering figures, isn't it?

41:56 And you're never you're never not going to take

41:58 that job when that's potentially on the cards.

42:01 And you know, even if you're really good, you're still going to get the sack.

42:05 So when you're not very good,

42:07 you're going to get that 4 million quid sooner rather than later.

42:09 We've offered 25% to fossin.

42:11 He's walked.

42:13 He's gone.

42:13 Exactly.

42:14 25% of Bugger all

42:15 he's walked off.

42:16 But but it's it's interesting though because now I think we're

42:19 in for a massive managerial kind of merrygoround in summer, aren't we?

42:22 Cuz Glasnner's leaving.

42:24 It's quite rare, isn't it, that someone will like go and and not be sacked,

42:27 but we've actually got a couple of instances,

42:29 haven't we, where Glasner's leaving Palace, um Areola's leaving Bournemouth.

42:34 They've already replaced him.

42:35 Silva hasn't signed a new deal as of as of this morning yet,

42:40 but there are three really really

42:42 it's not far down the king's road for Silva, is it?

42:45 Get in at Chelsea.

42:47 Not a serial winner as in trophies, but would he be more capable to manage

42:52 that football club than the answer to that?

42:55 If you were Chelsea,

42:57 if you were a Chelsea fan or would you take Glasnner or Silva?

43:01 I'll take or

43:03 Would you take I out three?

43:05 100%.

43:05 For me, for me, you I think No, no.

43:08 His philosophy for me, uh, 100%.

43:10 I think it's you, you would be excited by what you're going to watch.

43:14 I think if you went to Glasnner, who's been so successful,

43:17 and actually, as I said, I was there a couple of weeks ago,

43:20 such a well- drilled team,

43:22 but ultimately Chelsea fans will be thinking more Conte back five a little bit,

43:28 you know what I mean?

43:28 Pragmatic.

43:29 Yeah.

43:30 But yeah, um, Silva obviously quite adaptable but hasn't won the trophy.

43:35 But Iola hasn't won the trophies, but you'd be more excited by

43:38 But look at the players that he's brought through in young players as well.

43:40 And look at what Chelsea's philosophy is at the moment is young players

43:43 blooding young players selling them

43:45 on for a profit playing really attractive highintensity football.

43:50 That's Iola.

43:51 Whereas Glasn is a bit more, as you say, pragmatic.

43:54 Marco Silva's been to Everton, didn't quite work out.

43:56 Come back down to Fulham, maybe found his level.

43:59 although he's gained more and more experience.

44:00 So I think the Iola one seems the obvious the obvious one and they've

44:04 just gone and sat there for many managers saves him a few quid.

44:07 Not that they're worried about it.

44:08 Yeah.

44:08 Well, Fulham obviously what they're on for I think

44:10 they're on for their potentially best Premier League finish they

44:14 um beat Villa at the weekend.

44:16 It was probably a good time to get Villa was it what?

44:18 I would have said so.

44:19 Yeah.

44:19 Big Phil took Ethan down to that game.

44:21 So it were another ground ticked off.

44:24 Um, when I looked at the chances, they miss some big chances of Villa.

44:27 Like, and it's a worry for Villa, but it's also a worry for England.

44:31 Like, Watkins, it's either good or bad.

44:33 There doesn't seem to be much in between.

44:35 I I thought he could have had a couple of goals.

44:38 Uh, Rogers stepped inside and put it by the post.

44:41 You think just pass it in, it's a goal.

44:44 Uh, and then they got done on on a scrappy goal, but yeah.

44:47 Um, ultimately, again, timing is everything.

44:51 And that's why I think for Spurs going to Villa

44:53 at the weekend be a good chance for them.

44:54 But Fulhammer are a good team.

44:56 Fulhammer are a very good team

44:57 and we've said obviously Fulhammer at Arsenal next

45:00 and Silva will not make that easy with his team going to Arsenal for sure.

45:03 I think that the the London bragging rights like Fulhammer are

45:07 always seen as the least supported team out of them all.

45:10 But everybody likes him a little bit.

45:12 But he as a manager wants to say I'm better than Arteta.

45:16 Wants to say I'm better than Emry.

45:18 And you know, there's a bit of pride in these managers.

45:21 They're not going to want the teams to roll over.

45:23 So, um yeah, I think I think it'll be um very very interesting to to be fair.

45:30 And a big shout out Bt Leno 146 Premier League games in a row.

45:35 Really big start.

45:38 Really impressive start.

45:39 And then Anfield, what you what you

45:40 making of Liverpool's end to the season toast?

45:43 What what we saying?

45:44 They're coming a bit stronger, aren't they?

45:45 I feel like they they've managed to this might be a bless in disguise.

45:48 I know Salah's just hit hit a little bit more form than than where he had been,

45:52 but I feel like for them this season's

45:54 been obviously winning the league last year,

45:57 signing the players they signed in the summer and you're thinking,

46:00 "Wow, they're going to be unstoppable this year.

46:02 Improvement at left back it looked like Kirquez

46:04 Vert's coming in, Esac good, not cheap players."

46:09 But then you have Allison gets a few injuries this year.

46:11 Van Dijk starts getting questioned probably because Kirz

46:14 has vacated that area so Van Dijk's getting exposed.

46:17 You've got Mallalis has not really done it

46:19 this season at the levels that he has been.

46:22 Yeah.

46:21 Um Isach obviously that's his first home league goal.

46:24 I know he broke his leg.

46:26 It was a leg break, wasn't it?

46:27 I know he broke his leg earlier in the season, but

46:30 they're probably the the bright spot for them has been Akat

46:33 and for them next season they need to I

46:36 mean they lost Trent last year, didn't they?

46:37 And Fong's coming in, he's had a lot of injuries as well.

46:39 So the summer hasn't quite wor out for them,

46:42 but they they can go and build on it again.

46:44 It's hard to predict what Liverpool will do.

46:45 I think it's quite tricky to see what they do next season.

46:48 Obviously, they've got some ins and outs in the summer and whatnot, but

46:53 I wouldn't like to call it like it wouldn't

46:54 surprise me if they were ch really challenging again,

46:58 but at the same point, it wouldn't surprise me if they're kind of

47:02 similar inconsistency.

47:03 Obviously, Salah's going to be off, isn't it?

47:04 Ekit's done his Achilles, which is always a trickier, isn't it?

47:09 can't rush that and it's got to be really managed.

47:12 So, and he has been the form animal for him.

47:16 So, like that that's that's huge cuz he's

47:19 probably not going to be fit till Christmas already.

47:21 You know what I mean?

47:22 Yeah.

47:22 It depends on their style as well cuz

47:24 last year you think they're Salah firing still.

47:26 They had Lewis Diaz firing on the wings.

47:29 Yeah.

47:29 Pure like quality in the wing.

47:31 But then look at this year Gakpo's not really.

47:33 He blows hot and cold, doesn't he?

47:35 More more cold than hot.

47:36 and Salah's obviously not really done it this season and they've got

47:39 to replace them two them two have to be replaced for them

47:42 to be the Liverpool of old for me and as you say

47:44 Eatika Esak's probably going to find some sort of form at some point

47:48 but I think the manager good not to

47:50 yeah but the manager will be under big pressure there

47:51 next year because he's not got long without being like

47:57 full a rocky start to the season they may they may well

48:01 they'll be looking like Liverpool ownership

48:03 and supporters at the first international winners.

48:06 If you've not got off in that first three,

48:09 four games, seven, eight games, certainly 10,

48:12 12, that it's not going much further than

48:15 that if they don't hit the ground running.

48:16 And from a a GK union point of view, what?

48:19 Yeah, look, I think he's made an unbelievable save and he's jarred something.

48:22 And at that point, he's lost the feeling in it.

48:25 So, he's gone down.

48:27 He can't help that.

48:28 And I don't blame the fall, the Palace players for scoring the goal.

48:32 Liverpool players have to be more aware of the situation

48:35 and take some autonomy realizing that one of the teammates has done.

48:38 But the attackers are not going to kick the ball out.

48:40 They're too down at Anfield.

48:41 They need to get back in the game.

48:43 Yes, it might be a cheap shot, but that's football.

48:46 It's a tough industry.

48:48 Um, at least he stayed on the field and and they went on to win the game.

48:53 Um, but Liverpool are down to the bare bones with the goalies.

48:56 That's what that's why basically you look it weren't

48:59 as bad as what we all feared and he stayed on.

49:01 But they've only got young backup now.

49:03 Allison's injured.

49:04 Mmadashville is injured.

49:05 Woodman who thought he'd be sat watching football

49:08 all season and traveling around as third choice goalie

49:11 is now probably potentially number one till the end

49:14 which is incredible for a football club like that.

49:16 Yeah, it is.

49:16 They've got Pexi is it Pesky Pexi young goalie.

49:20 Young goalie.

49:20 Yeah.

49:20 And then and then it's emergency loans isn't it after that?

49:23 I might get the gloves back out.

49:25 I never pass where Fuzzy is today.

49:29 Oh my god.

49:30 got bloody Melwood here.

49:33 Checking out the old knees.

49:34 Yeah.

49:34 Fishing.

49:35 Fishing.

49:35 For what?

49:35 A new contract.

49:36 I'm sure he'd look great in a Liverpool shirt, wouldn't it?

49:40 Oh, right.

49:40 Right before the quiz.

49:41 Listen, it's Friday.

49:42 It's Monday now.

49:43 This is the Friday night game.

49:45 I didn't I didn't see Forest.

49:47 I didn't see this one coming.

49:49 5-nil at the stadium.

49:50 Do you know what pissed me off watching that game

49:53 is that even though it it's a disaster for Sunderland, right?

49:57 But they've had an unbelievable season

49:59 and at three and 4-0 the stadium were empty.

50:03 Incredible.

50:03 I honestly for what they have done that team

50:05 this year and yes it were a very very bad day

50:08 at the office or a bad night right but them

50:11 supporters let themselves and that team down on that night.

50:14 Do you really think so?

50:15 I really think so.

50:16 Yeah.

50:16 The players let themselves down.

50:18 Let's not have it wrong.

50:19 But come on.

50:21 I think it's spot on.

50:22 A oneoff like that like what they've delivered this season has been unreal.

50:26 What do the players on the pit What do the fans expect the players on the pitch

50:29 to think when they're seeing the stadium emptying at the end of the first half?

50:32 Oh, they've give up.

50:33 The fans have given up.

50:34 So, what should we do then on the pitch?

50:35 Should we just give up as well?

50:36 Because if a player did that and gave up in that moment,

50:39 the fans would be quick to berate.

50:40 Well, I think I think that's part partly the reason

50:42 why the fans didn't go like to be fair,

50:44 I I kind of the last couple of goals the the defending

50:48 there was there wasn't like busting a gut movements to

50:52 No, look, it it were bad, wasn't it?

50:53 But we have bad days at the office.

50:55 Yeah, sure.

50:56 Don't worry.

50:56 You know what I mean?

50:57 And not looking at it over the course of the season.

50:58 Yeah.

50:58 And I just thought really you've got to support your team.

51:02 Look, you're still buzzing really with what the season's been.

51:06 You I don't know what Yes.

51:07 You're frustrated with that, but just stick with them and try

51:10 and help them get over the line for the 90 minutes.

51:13 You know what I mean?

51:15 Um I was playing paddle on Friday with a with a guy,

51:18 a Nottenham Forest fan, Liam,

51:20 and he was uh he had a golf actually 10 minutes early

51:22 to get up there as a as a Forest fan for the Sunland.

51:25 you winning?

51:25 I said, "Are you" I said, "Are you mad going all the way to Suddenly?" He said,

51:28 "I've got to do it." Yes, we did win.

51:30 Well done.

51:30 Well done.

51:31 Right, before we go on to the quiz,

51:32 uh, National League, Rodale won, York City won.

51:38 The game was absolutely bananas.

51:42 Yeah, I was watching it.

51:42 It was It was It was It wasn't a great game.

51:46 Um, oh, York had three one-on- ones.

51:50 Should have put them to bed.

51:51 Didn't.

51:52 Yeah, but what about the goalie?

51:53 We love the goalie's name for Rodale, don't we?

51:56 Come on, tell us.

51:57 Tell us.

51:57 Is it Watmouth?

51:58 Watmouth.

51:59 On loan from Man City.

52:01 On loan from Man City.

52:04 He's got a future in the game that great around the box.

52:08 Oh my god.

52:10 Just got to He's just got to make it.

52:12 He's no doubt he's going to make it.

52:16 Back in the game.

52:17 Yeah.

52:17 So anyway, Henderson, 40 years old,

52:20 plays an unbelievable ball with the outside of his right foot.

52:22 Dia Ruvway heads it in.

52:24 But what happens again?

52:25 The fans let Rodale down.

52:27 They will spill onto the pitch.

52:28 That allows the York players.

52:30 Yeah.

52:30 That allows the York players to get over

52:32 their disappointment and get their heads clear again.

52:34 Because if it was a quick kickoff within 60 seconds of the goal,

52:37 for example, 90 seconds, the players have still got their heads up their ass.

52:41 And then they're not going to have clear heads.

52:43 But because it's taken five, six minutes,

52:45 are you honestly saying they would have got away with it?

52:47 They would have won if it was.

52:49 You can't say they would have.

52:50 You can't say they would have,

52:51 but genuinely if you lose that goal in that moment, the league's done.

52:55 Their heads are are, as I said before, up their ass.

52:58 Players are not going to be on the same page come kickoff.

53:00 So, they're going to You have some people still looking at the floor,

53:03 feeling sorry for themselves, you know,

53:04 looking trying to find their contact lenses on the floor,

53:07 like literally disappointed,

53:08 but they get five minutes, they get to get their head clear, they get to reset.

53:12 I don't know whether there was a message from the manager, whatever.

53:14 But they go up the other end and it was mental.

53:16 I mean, you've got the the Rodale fan doing the L loser dance.

53:20 I mean, that backfired when he did that to the York player.

53:24 Obviously, the the scenes after the goal,

53:26 but did the goal go in?

53:27 I've watched it 10 times.

53:28 I don't know whe I think it looked like it, didn't it?

53:33 And then and then the York midfielder Ham Bang, he's chinned a fan.

53:40 Yeah.

53:40 Um, you see the whole thing.

53:42 From what I saw, he

53:44 is evidently being held.

53:47 He's on the floor.

53:47 He's and he whether or not he's being held down,

53:49 but he's certainly being rest some kind of being held

53:53 down and he's got up and he's chinned the fan.

53:56 Now you

53:57 just whacked him in it.

53:58 You tell you tell me you pros, but from my perspective, I look at this and go,

54:04 I don't think any ret retrospective action should be taken against the player.

54:07 He's out there doing his job.

54:09 is on the pitch his safe space on the pitch.

54:12 His safe space and whether or not he'd got up and then hit him.

54:16 It doesn't matter.

54:17 You can't go and I know it's an emotional place football,

54:20 but it is still a workplace and you can't have that.

54:23 No, you can't.

54:24 And the thing is like you've got fans at home probably

54:26 punching TVs and walls when when a goal goes in against them.

54:29 That's like emotion.

54:31 You're in that moment.

54:32 You've played 45 games.

54:33 This is the 46th game of the season.

54:35 you have just conceded the last minute of the game to lose

54:38 that league title and someone comes on and they start goating you.

54:42 What do you expect?

54:43 You're going to be like your head's going to be

54:44 but being just goed from what we saw he was kind of on top of him.

54:49 Yeah.

54:49 Almost like Yeah.

54:50 You're going to react to that in whatever situation you want.

54:53 Whether you're on the football pitch,

54:55 if you're taking your dog for a walk

54:56 in the park and somebody for whatever reason pins you down,

54:59 you're not accepting it, are you?

55:01 Self self-defense.

55:02 Yeah.

55:02 It's like, "What are you pinninging me down for?

55:04 I'm just walking the dog."

55:06 Exactly, mate.

55:07 Wherever, like, I'm trying to get to the bar on a Sunday afternoon.

55:10 If two BS pin me down, they are getting it.

55:13 They're getting it.

55:13 You know,

55:13 if anyone stops WTO from getting his red wine,

55:15 there is absolutely they're getting it.

55:17 So, look, this the situation just the emotion from everybody boiled over,

55:22 but he can't get held into uh any, you know,

55:27 you'd hope not.

55:27 If mate is going to be happy to give it,

55:29 you know, he's got to take it in that moment.

55:31 It's it's written in the stars that after

55:33 that that are are Rodale going to go up.

55:36 I I don't know.

55:37 They've got 108 points for York, 106 for Rodale.

55:41 When you guys got out the National League, you got 111.

55:44 Knox County got 107.

55:45 And they did go up.

55:46 Yeah, they did.

55:47 Yeah.

55:47 It was different because they're on their knees now, aren't they?

55:50 That that they've got to quickly reset

55:52 because they play again, I think, on Sunday.

55:56 Yeah.

55:55 Which is is, you know, it's a week a week to get over it.

55:58 They're going to have a couple days of like, look, let's clear your head.

56:00 Try and get back over it because

56:02 the emotion of that, the roller coaster, you know,

56:04 we wanted when when we went up with Rexom 111 points,

56:07 we wanted genuinely not scouted to go up because they deserved it.

56:10 We'd scored 116 goals that year.

56:12 They' scored 117 goals that year.

56:14 We just blew everyone away.

56:15 We were by far and away the best two teams.

56:17 And that's why I'm a I'm now an advocate for three out,

56:21 three down because the quality in the National League is so

56:24 Well, mate, you look at the top of that league now.

56:26 I think it's only Boring Wood.

56:28 the the the the top eight and nine other than that are all league clubs.

56:32 Yeah, it's a very money they're paying as well.

56:34 Surely this is an easy fix then isn't it toast?

56:36 Yeah, I mean look, league two you got four going up into league one.

56:39 From League One to Championship you got three going up

56:41 and three up again from from the Championship to the Premier League.

56:44 My mom arm's getting higher and higher.

56:45 So you just take the four up from the league two,

56:47 you make it three and you go three up from

56:49 What they could do is because obviously the playoffs is

56:52 so you know so good for TV for us to watch.

56:55 Entertainment is brilliant.

56:56 You could have two that go up automatic and you could have third

56:59 bottom um in League two play against whoever wins a poss one isn't it?

57:06 Scotland do it as well.

57:06 Yeah.

57:07 But you've got your two top two going up then.

57:09 That's that's fair.

57:09 And then you've also got the possibility of that that third team going up.

57:13 There's got to be three going up, hasn't it?

57:14 I'd say I think the quality of the National

57:16 League now demands it really to be honest.

57:19 What's the what's the difference like toes between the the the the top

57:25 six in the National League versus the bottom half of the National League?

57:30 I think the National League is a very good league.

57:31 You know, like the play the teams play better football in the National

57:35 League than they do in League 2 on a whole that is.

57:38 So the ones at the bot that that's what

57:39 the the teams like the bottom half of the National League

57:41 are actually probably managers that are trying to get moves

57:43 into the football league and they play real nice football.

57:46 There's not as much pressure on them.

57:47 But obviously League two there's more pressure and not

57:49 as good a football if that makes sense.

57:51 So I mean again just going back to the the three up three down I feel like a bit

57:56 of a hypocrite because I've stayed I've

57:58 stayed up in League 2 before third bottom.

58:00 So I'd have effectively had a relegation on my CV but I don't have one on there.

58:03 So if there was three up three down then I would have had one on there

58:06 but now I'm saying there that should be a call for for three up and three down.

58:10 So but yeah the the National League is a very a very good league.

58:14 Right.

58:14 Good chat today.

58:15 We've missed the big fella haven't we?

58:16 Oh, we've missed him.

58:18 I hope he passes that medical at Liverpool.

58:20 Yeah.

58:20 Yeah.

58:21 Right, J Mo.

58:22 Time for the quiz, mate.

58:27 Right, it's time for the quiz.

58:28 Nobody's on the beach here.

58:30 It's still competitive.

58:32 Oh, for sure.

58:33 Jamie, take us away.

58:34 Right, so the scores on the doors.

58:36 Tom, you're on 10.

58:37 Ben, who's not here today, is also on 10.

58:39 Toes, you're on six.

58:40 And WTO, you're on six.

58:41 So, it's still all to play for.

58:43 Yeah, mate.

58:43 We're fighting.

58:43 We're fighting.

58:44 We what we will do at the end of the season,

58:45 we'll do a win ratio because I think Toes would be winning on the win ratio.

58:50 Let's not give him too much credit, Tom.

58:53 Actually, still a long way to go.

58:55 Yeah.

58:55 Before we start, what was the answer to your question?

58:56 One of the smallest players.

58:58 Well done, Jamie.

58:59 The answer, you see, you were professional Jay Bosman.

59:03 Right.

59:03 The answer is I can only go online, so don't shout at me if there's right.

59:09 Tikk Lampy.

59:14 Oh, 1 me 63.

59:13 Ryan Fraser won me to 63.

59:16 Alan Wright won me to 63.

59:19 And one of your old teammates, WTO, you did Don Sheridan.

59:22 No.

59:23 Clint Marcel.

59:25 Wow.

59:25 1 me 63.

59:27 Was he a small man?

59:29 Was he small?

59:29 Was he?

59:30 I know cuz obviously people get it wrong online, don't they?

59:32 Like it sounds staff, but uh I didn't remember him being small as one right now.

59:38 I can only go I can only go there.

59:41 But that's blown that one out.

59:42 back.

59:43 A big swallow from Tom there.

59:44 Sweet.

59:45 We'll see.

59:45 We'll see.

59:46 Yeah.

59:46 Okay.

1:00:26 Yeah.

1:00:26 Yeah.

1:00:26 Tore got 20 Premier League goals.

1:00:29 For me, he was the most complete midfielder.

1:00:31 He was unbelievable season, didn't he?

1:00:35 20 Premier League goals.

1:00:36 That's incred.

1:00:39 banging in free kicks a lot.

1:00:41 Remember?

1:00:41 Well, that's what I remember.

1:00:42 Free kicks and like driving.

1:00:44 Unbelievable answer that we remember when we did that shoot with him.

1:00:47 He'd been retired for about 15 years and we've come to do this shoot.

1:00:50 Ben's in goal against him and they were like, "Oh, yeah.

1:00:52 Yeah.

1:00:52 If you can just take some shots of Ben and he

1:00:54 was like just wrapped in about seven off the post,

1:00:57 off the post, off the post." Ben stood there going, "Yeah, yeah.

1:01:00 This isn't going to make for a very good video." Yeah.

1:01:02 Give me a chance.

1:01:04 Yeah.

1:01:04 It was unreal.

1:01:05 A birthday cake.

1:02:19 Yep.

1:02:19 Not a major.

1:02:20 Every time he wanted Jamie, they did.

1:02:22 It's the same.

1:02:23 So, what was the same with Spurs when the same Audi?

1:02:25 Yeah.

1:05:07 Well done, Tom.

1:05:08 Yes, correct answer.

1:05:10 You nearly downgraded me for saying Miami, but that would have been hard.

1:05:13 That would have been hard.

1:05:15 He's nowhere.

1:05:16 I'm glad 21.

1:05:18 He's back at Stoke.
