RFK just exposed everything...

Russell Brand

0:00 And I watched a family member get off of them after a couple years on them.

0:05 And she was suicidal literally every day.

0:09 She woke up every morning and said, "I don't want to live." And she said,

0:14 "The only reason I'm staying alive is for you guys, for the family.

0:18 Are you depressed?" I'm not surprised,

0:21 but maybe even your government prescribed

0:24 pharmacologically approved anti-depressants are making things worse.

0:28 Certainly that's part of the conversation now because one

0:30 of the ongoing victories of 2024 2025 is the contribution

0:34 of Secretary Kennedy when it comes to the debate around

0:37 big farmer and the ability of ordinary folks to oppose it.

0:40 The United States does not just face a mental health crisis,

0:43 we face a dependency crisis driven by overmedicalization.

0:48 The data is clear.

0:49 One in six American adults takes an anti-depressant.

0:53 One in 10 children are on prescription medication for their mental health.

0:58 30% of college students report using psychiatric medications in the past year.

1:03 And in nursing homes,

1:04 more than half of the residents are on prescribed anti-depressants.

1:09 That's not a marginal issue.

1:11 This is a system level pattern.

1:13 Too many patients begin treatment without

1:15 a clear understanding of the risks and how

1:18 long they will stay on these drugs or how to come off of them.

1:22 And that's not informed consent.

1:24 We are going to fix it.

1:26 I've taken SSRI.

1:27 I've been prescribed all manner of medication when I was younger.

1:30 Now I try not to take anything at all except the sweet

1:33 sweet glories of mephilin blue to get the old mitochondria functioning good.

1:38 Uh you Dave.

1:39 Yeah, I don't take them now but I've taken them before.

1:42 I have seen a couple cases where it helped for a time

1:46 but I've just to incubate you from suicide maybe.

1:49 Yeah, honestly.

1:51 Yeah.

1:51 What about you Messi?

1:52 What are you saying mate?

1:52 Yeah, I had a tinitus once and I went to the doctors about

1:56 it and first thing he did was go just gave me some SSRI.

2:00 He was like, I'll just take these it might go away.

2:02 He didn't ask any questions.

2:03 I had like a problem with a nerve in my neck.

2:05 So when I moved my neck, the tinus went away.

2:08 He didn't ask me any of the questions on this.

2:09 He was like, just take this powerful mind drug.

2:12 You may kill yourself.

2:13 He gives you get out of my office and there's one for FISA.

2:16 Couldn't believe it.

2:17 Just they just hand them out like nothing.

2:19 What about you, mate?

2:20 Yeah, never took anything.

2:21 I've taken like heroin actually not today but he's

2:28 right your secretary of your health and human services

2:33 when he says there's an overmedicalization there is an appetite

2:36 to prescribe and yeah obviously it goes beyond America

2:39 but it's pretty vivid here Kennedy who's himself

2:42 in recovery compares heroin and SSRI withdrawal I feel like

2:47 he's saying SSRI are worse withdrawal from heroin it's

2:51 not that bad heroin withdrawal after the first 48 hours,

2:54 but then you're pretty much clear after that.

2:56 It's the mental.

2:57 After that, it's just a mental dependency.

2:59 Really, once it's out of your system, 48 hours, you should be I mean,

3:04 it's it's just that really, why were you taking heroin in the first place?

3:07 Well, because I'm in total despair.

3:10 Why?

3:10 Because I've realized that life is futile and we're in a terrible,

3:15 terrible, terrible and corrupt system.

3:17 Is it like train spotting the withdrawal scene

3:20 and that with the baby on the ceiling and stuff like that?

3:22 Oh, I didn't get no like hallucinations.

3:24 I'd have liked I'd have sustained that happily.

3:27 No, for me it's the kicky legs.

3:29 It's the hot and cold not being able to get the right temperature.

3:32 That's what it was like for me.

3:33 What about you, Dave?

3:34 Like extreme restless, irritable discontent.

3:36 Yeah, the kicky legs.

3:37 Like now a lot of people I think like Yeah.

3:39 bail on that and take some heroin.

3:41 I drank and smoked weed for the first couple that I did.

3:44 But when you do it without any other drugs, oh man, that's a nightmare.

3:47 It also depends like how long they've been on it, you know,

3:50 the extent of it and and I think IV users get

3:54 it a little bit worse just because they've gotten more potent,

3:57 but uh I will say alcohol and benzo are notoriously a lot worse.

4:04 Nicotine's no fun to withdraw from.

4:06 Caffeine, like my wife, like when we was on this trip just now to Miami,

4:12 the more she was like, "Ew." month.

4:13 I was like, "Have you drank?

4:14 When did you last drink coffee?" She was over 24 hours.

4:16 I guess you're a actual You're in withdrawal.

4:20 You poor desperate junkie of a woman.

4:22 But I happen to be an actual expert

4:26 on this because I was addicted to heroin for 14 years.

4:30 I never wanted to be.

4:32 I mean, the world has changed, isn't it?

4:33 Where like you can have the secretary of health and human services.

4:37 I I'm actually an expert.

4:38 I was addicted to heroin.

4:40 Well, get the out you mad junkie.

4:43 That's that's that's actual progress.

4:45 And I went through cold turkey withdrawal probably over a hundred times.

4:49 And so I know what it's like.

4:50 And it's not fun.

4:52 But it is it is limited.

4:55 It is finite in time.

4:57 After 72 hours, it's over.

4:59 So you just have to steal yourself for 72 bad hours.

5:02 But I've watched people come off of SSRI and it is is not even comparable.

5:09 and I watched a family member get off of them after

5:12 a couple years on them and she was suicidal literally every day.

5:18 She woke up every morning and said, "I don't want to live." And she said,

5:23 "The only reason I'm staying alive is for you guys,

5:26 for the family." And uh that's heartbreaking for to hear from a family member.

5:32 And um I've heard that from hundreds and hundreds of people.

5:36 The same story again and again.

5:39 It can be prolonged and for many patients it's completely unexpected.

5:44 And the physicians handle this by saying,

5:47 "Oh, this is your original symptom." Reasserting yourself.

5:51 You need to get back on the SSR highs.

5:54 This is a system failure.

5:55 We're not going to ignore it.

5:56 And let me be clear.

5:58 If you are taking psychiatric medication, we're not telling you to stop.

6:02 We're making sure that you and your clinician have

6:04 the information and support to make the right decisions for you.

6:10 Pretty encouraging level of vulnerability and honesty

6:13 for from a powerful political figure.

6:17 I love him.

6:18 Yeah, I love him.

6:19 I love him.

6:19 Like he I mean I think out of the whole crew, he's the most legit.

6:25 But you see how hard it is for him to get stuff done.

6:27 I mean, you have someone I think he's

6:30 genuinely wants to just help people be healthy.

6:34 Yeah.

6:33 He genuinely does.

6:35 And especially kids, I mean, he's really focused on the next generations to come

6:41 and like how hard it is for him to get things through.

6:44 And he's doing his best.

6:46 I think he's an amazing example

6:48 of what can be achieved through great leadership,

6:50 but also an example of what can't

6:52 be achieved because of systemic bias and resistance.

6:58 Someone asked me the other day,

6:59 "How do you get a sense of what's going to happen next?" I told them,

7:01 I simply look out the window.

7:03 But if that doesn't work, Poly Market, I check it out.

7:06 It's extremely insightful.

7:07 Basically, you're watching how thousands of people are betting on outcomes,

7:10 political elections, big policy moves, even events you wouldn't expect.

7:14 It's kind of like a live pulse on what people actually believe.

7:17 You can see trends before they hit mainstream news.

7:19 For me, it's not about gambling.

7:21 I don't like gambling.

7:22 It's about understanding the probabilities and where the momentum is shifting.

7:26 If you like following the news,

7:27 but want a deeper look at what people really think, it's a fascinating tool.

7:30 Check out polymarket.com now.

7:32 That's right, polymarket.com now.

7:34 Have a look.

7:34 The kind of vulnerability that you

7:36 just role modeled is really, really important.

7:38 honest conversations about addiction,

7:41 clarity around how dangerous the normalization of that kind

7:45 of high pharmarmacology is that people like he just said,

7:49 well, he gave the statistics.

7:50 All of these people that are dealing with it and it's an industry

7:53 that's already been on numerous occasions

7:55 exposed as extraordinarily and almost unimaginably corrupt.

8:00 the opioid crisis, what we've learned since the pandemic.

8:04 Every day is another spur for revolution.

8:08 Let's be heartened by Secretary Kennedy's honest

8:11 admission that he himself knows what it's like

8:13 to withdraw from heroin and his openness

8:15 and vulnerability about a family member coming off SSRI.

8:18 Aubic worst problem.

8:20 Whoever you are, you likely know someone that's dealing

8:22 with either addiction to illicit drugs or prescribed drugs.

8:26 And in the end, all of those people are dealing

8:28 with pain and emptiness and despair and lack of purpose.

8:32 And there is a solution.

8:33 The 12 steps work.

8:34 And we'll do more of those crackons.

8:36 And if you are suffering from addiction,

8:38 please know at least this there is hope.

8:40 There is a way out.

8:41 And there is a spiritual solution.

8:42 It's the only solution that I know and it's available to you.

8:45 It's available to all of us.

8:46 There is a fuel and an energy and a possibility of change.

8:49 But that's just what I think.

8:50 Let me know what you think in the comments and the chat.
