0:00 Heat.
0:00 Heat.
0:00 Heat.
0:01 [cheering] [screaming] [cheering]
0:12 [screaming] [cheering and music]
0:15 Yeah.
0:18 [cheering] [applause] [cheering] Thank you.
0:31 Thank you.
0:38 [cheering] [cheering] [applause]
0:46 Have a seat.
0:47 [cheering] Have a seat.
0:50 That Oh, I [cheering]
0:58 Thank you very much.
0:59 I I take it and I pour it
1:00 into my ligaments and my vertebrae and I marinate in it.
1:04 I thank you so much.
1:05 And back at you.
1:10 Oh, I got to say I feel magnificent.
1:14 I It has been I cannot even believe it because
1:16 the doctor said it's going to be months to heal.
1:18 It's been two weeks since I tore a ligament in my back and I I
1:22 am standing up and I I still can't put on my own shoes and socks,
1:25 but that's kind of fun to have somebody else do that for you.
1:28 So, uh, anyway, so here I am standing up and I'm so glad because
1:32 I missed having that energy and I and I I like I need it.
1:35 I I need to especially for today.
1:37 This is a good show.
1:38 In case you're wondering, uh, we sell plants on the side.
1:41 [laughter] And um, just to make a little extra money uh,
1:46 [laughter] a fus, a chefera, if you will.
1:48 Um, no, this is our green show and uh, we're going to all learn how uh,
1:52 we we can save the environment different ways that we can all make a difference.
1:56 little tiny tiny you know and I talked about that show uh the series
1:59 on Discovery uh channel Planet Earth and if you haven't seen it it is so it's
2:05 incredible beautiful to watch it's great for kids
2:07 to watch it's great for all of us
2:09 to watch and it also points out how delicate the balance is and we're disrupting
2:13 this balance but uh more than anything
2:15 it's a beautiful thing to watch the planet earth uh series and uh you know some
2:19 people there's a spectrum here some people are
2:21 in denial that global warming is even happening
2:23 some people don't believe it it's and And then
2:25 you have the other people that wear clothes made of hemp and they drive hybrids.
2:30 I'm in the middle somewhere.
2:32 I uh I wear the occasional hemp outfit,
2:34 but I'll dry my hair with the exhaust for my car.
2:37 And [laughter] um just an old habit, and I know I should change.
2:41 Um I don't do it.
2:44 No, I don't anymore, but I used to.
2:47 Um I would never intentionally ever hurt the environment.
2:51 I don't think anybody would.
2:52 I think most people are just unaware
2:53 that they're infecting the environment, good or bad.
2:56 And so that's why we're here today.
2:57 And so we're going to educate people and we're going to make
3:00 them aware of things uh that that you know can conserve energy.
3:03 Here's one that I came up with and uh I'm just going to throw it out there.
3:06 Um when you're on the phone, that's energy.
3:08 Whether you're on a phone, a regular phone that's plugged in or a cell
3:11 phone or something like that, it's energy somehow.
3:13 It's it's got to be affecting something.
3:15 And so I say let's spend less time on the phone
3:18 by by shortening our our sentences and our words.
3:20 cavemen.
3:21 Uh I always go back to the cavemen, but it's true.
3:25 Uh they didn't have cell phones or phones or anything
3:27 like that, but cavemen could communicate in very very simple words.
3:31 And so when you're on the phone, just just go right to whatever it is.
3:34 Me, go store, get milk, [laughter] you know, hang up, you know,
3:38 me need new pants, go Fred Seagull, and then hang [laughter] up.
3:42 Me need shower gel, go Barney, hang up.
3:45 Just keep it short, you know.
3:46 And one thing that humans are good at, and we know that, is adapting.
3:49 we see something we learned something that was bad and we we
3:52 like for instance we learned that hairspray is bad for the ozone
3:55 layer you can't use aerosol for deodorant for hairspray anything like
3:58 that and that's why so many bands in the 80s have just disappeared
4:02 [laughter] you know we used to have your white snake your mly
4:08 crew your poison gone the most popular singers now if you've noticed
4:13 it's not a coincidence they have very little hair you have Justin
4:15 Timberlake very little hair Adam Lavine from Maroon Moon five, very little hair.
4:20 That Britney Britney was misunderstood.
4:23 She was [applause] making a statement [cheering] against the environment,
4:29 the hairspray, the damage.
4:30 [applause] Po, she's misunderstood.
4:32 The the kids these days, what they'll do.
4:34 Um, but the thing is, you have to reach the young people.
4:36 I think that's the thing.
4:37 You have to catch young people.
4:38 Now, when I was a kid, you know,
4:40 the commercial that really affected me, I didn't know that littering was bad.
4:44 I just would throw things who who knows until you learn that littering is bad.
4:47 and we had the Native American uh with the single tear running down his cheek.
4:51 I don't know if you remember that, but that's what taught
4:53 me that littering was bad because I saw the Native American crying.
4:57 And so I thought we need something like that today.
4:59 Something that's going to reach out to the young people
5:00 and spread awareness and the the idea of cons conservation.
5:04 So, um I thought of somebody who's perfect for this.
5:07 I kind of put this little thing together for you.
5:11 [music] No one wants to see Sania cry.
5:20 Don't [cheering] [applause] [cheering] we can make a difference.
5:28 [applause] Come on, kids.
5:32 Now, [applause] I'm working on it.
5:35 But if we can just figure out a way to harness the energy from dancing,
5:38 we'll save the planet.
5:40 Let's dance together, everybody.
5:42 Heat.
5:42 [cheering] [cheering] [applause] [screaming] [cheering] Heat.
6:02 [applause] [screaming] Heat up
6:07 [cheering] [applause] [cheering] [cheering] [applause] [cheering]
6:30 here.
6:35 [cheering] [applause] [cheering] [cheering] [applause] All right.
6:53 [applause] So, yeah, that was my first dance through the aisles.
6:58 Uh [cheering] [applause] I'm all right.
7:08 I'm winded, I'll tell you that.
7:10 It's going to take me a while till I can straddle the coffee table.
7:13 I uh I don't think I'm going to be doing that for a while.
7:16 Or the way I used to just take it for granted.
7:17 I'd hold myself up over the chair and then
7:19 slowly that's not going to happen for a while either.
7:22 But at least I'm I'm very grateful that I'm healing as fast as I am.
7:25 And like I said, it's our green show.
7:26 And even though uh you know,
7:28 my clothes are actually made from uh I don't know how,
7:31 but they're made without pesticides or herbicides or synthetic fertilizers.
7:35 And uh my wig is straw.
7:37 Uh so if you hear a weird noise,
7:41 uh that's cuz we have some spinners over there on bikes from Revolution Fitness.
7:44 [cheering] They're [applause] powering that monitor over there
7:49 and a couple of lights thanks to Glo Global Inheritance.
7:52 [applause] Hey, Stephanie.
7:55 Where's Stephanie?
7:56 Oh, I'm here.
7:57 I just It's hard to hear from.
7:59 I'm way over here.
8:00 So, Stephanie, you're thinking of a really good idea.
8:03 Tell people what you're trying to do with your spinning suit.
8:05 We are actually in the process right now of trying to hook up
8:07 our bikes to something like this so we can start generating our own energy.
8:11 That's a great idea.
8:13 [cheering] behind me.
8:15 [applause] These are photos uh from the show
8:18 Planet Earth that I was talking about,
8:20 and I think it's probably from the Forest uh series.
8:23 I have watched them over and over again, and they really are spectacular.
8:27 You can now buy the whole series on DVD from BBC video,
8:30 or you can go to amazon.com.
8:32 And here's how passionate I am.
8:35 I I want everyone in the We're giving you this free because [cheering]
8:41 you will love this.
8:46 [cheering] You'll love it.
8:50 [applause] Oh, you're going to love it.
8:53 It's so beautiful to watch.
8:55 And uh that's not all you're getting.
8:56 You're also getting Cameron Diaz.
8:58 You're all getting Cameron Diaz.
8:59 [cheering] All of you.
9:03 [applause]
9:04 He's [cheering] pretty.
9:07 He's very pretty and very funny and very smart.
9:09 In her new movie, Shrek the Third opens Friday.
9:11 Uh Cameron was was one of the first people to buy
9:14 the Prius hybrid and uh which I think is fantastic.
9:18 She's and it's perfect she's here today because guess what?
9:20 We're giving away that brand new Prius right
9:23 there that you're looking at [cheering] to somebody here.
9:30 [applause] [cheering] Um,
9:37 [applause] also [cheering] what would a green show be without a green expert?
9:42 Uh, Simron Sati is here and she's going to talk to us about
9:46 and she's going to give us five tips on how to live greener.
9:49 And uh, also I'm going to show you what happened when
9:51 Matt Golden from Sustainable Spaces did a green audit at my house.
9:56 And like I said, my back's feeling so much better.
9:58 Thanks to everybody who sent letters and cards.
10:00 I appreciate it so much.
10:02 Uh, as you know, I what happened?
10:04 It's a bunch of things.
10:04 I don't know what happened, but I tore a ligament and I fractured a vertebrae
10:08 and I was on bed rest for a week.
10:09 They said it was going to be a lot longer
10:11 and uh so I had audience members dancing for me.
10:14 And uh and then uh my first day walking,
10:17 I was still very tender and very gentle,
10:19 but I was walking and I had an audience dancer named Lisa Barnum,
10:22 who will always be ingrained in my brain.
10:25 Lisa, uh she went crazy.
10:27 She danced all over the place and then she tried to stand on the coffee table
10:31 and I tried to save her because she stood
10:34 on the end where there's no leverage right there.
10:37 And so I lunged forward to to help her and uh
10:40 again set myself back by by saving this girl.
10:45 And um so the next day I uh here I am recapping recapping it the next day.
10:52 I'm going to show you this in slow motion which is how it happened for me.
10:57 [screaming] [cheering] [cheering]
11:06 Now, uh, pain laughing from Lisa.
11:11 All right.
11:11 And so, because of her, I had a dance path,
11:14 uh, put in, which is on the floor right there,
11:16 to show people how to get there, and then it makes its way up.
11:20 And then I put a sign up at the coffee
11:22 table to make sure nobody would ever make that mistake again.
11:27 All because of Lisa Barnum.
11:29 [applause] So without further ado, please welcome Lisa Barnham.
11:34 [screaming] [cheering] [cheering] [music] [cheering] calm down.
11:58 All right.
12:00 Sorry.
12:00 Well, first of all, the the most important thing is,
12:02 did you have fun dancing with me?
12:04 Oh my god, I had a blast.
12:05 That was the most fun thing that has ever happened to me.
12:07 It was fun.
12:07 You lost track of time.
12:09 You were all over the place.
12:10 [laughter] Now, why would you try to step on?
12:13 Have you seen the show?
12:14 Did you know that I went around?
12:15 No.
12:16 Yeah.
12:16 I I'm a big huge fan
12:18 and I watched the show and then they were
12:21 still playing the music and I was so excited
12:24 and then you said go over the table and I remember looking
12:27 at the table and listening to you and thinking I don't know what to do.
12:33 [laughter] So, um I was excited.
12:40 So, really you were excited?
12:41 You couldn't tell.
12:43 [laughter] All right.
12:43 wanted to dance on the table.
12:45 You did.
12:45 So So you and I couldn't.
12:47 And then I felt so bad.
12:48 Yeah.
12:49 Well, you should.
12:51 You should.
12:54 I brought you here.
12:54 You know why I brought you here?
12:56 I'd like you to meet my attorneys.
12:57 Come on.
12:58 No.
12:59 [cheering] I'm so amazed for a second.
13:03 You actually You must have not put any weight once you got up there because
13:06 it's it's incredible that you actually were
13:08 up for a minute and that didn't tilt.
13:11 Yeah.
13:11 I replayed it and it didn't.
13:13 I might have had it,
13:14 but then you definitely saved me because once I would have put the other leg.
13:20 Yeah.
13:20 No, no.
13:20 I think what happened was you let go of somehow you did some
13:23 kind of weird freakish physics thing where
13:25 [laughter] you weren't really on the table.
13:27 All right.
13:28 Well, I have some t-shirts uh made for you that I that I thought All right.
13:34 And this is when I dance with the stars, the stars get hurt.
13:37 [laughter] [applause] And then Dancing with me
13:46 may cause severe [laughter] back injury.
13:49 [applause] All right.
13:53 [applause] If you mess up, I'm not helping you.
13:56 But do you know what to do now?
13:57 [laughter]
13:59 I've been practicing.
13:59 All right.
14:00 You're And then And then after this, we're going to see what happened when
14:04 we went to my house and had the green audit right after this commercial.
14:07 All right.
14:07 Do it.
14:08 But I'm not going to help you, Johnny.
14:09 Make her dance over the coffee table.
14:12 [cheering] [cheering] All right.
14:21 So, for our green show, I wanted to find out how uh green my own house was.
14:25 And so, I had energy efficiency expert Matt Golden
14:28 from Sustainable Spaces give my house a green audit.
14:31 Uh here's what happened.
14:34 Oh, hi.
14:37 I'm here at my house doing some laundry today.
14:40 You know, I try to be as energy efficient as possible [music] and uh you know,
14:44 there's always ways to to be more energy efficient.
14:47 That's that's what we're all trying to do.
14:49 So, I invited Matt Golden from Sustainable Spaces.
14:53 I'm I'm doing my part.
14:54 I'm washing my my clothes in the pool so I can and I'll just
14:59 ring those things out.
15:00 Yeah, I'll ring them out and [music] then I'll I'll hang them
15:02 to dry in a minute or I'll get somebody to do that.
15:05 I don't do that.
15:06 All right.
15:07 So, um, what do we do?
15:08 Well, first of all, what we're talking about being green is energy efficiency.
15:11 Absolutely.
15:12 But it's really also about being more comfortable in your house,
15:15 having better air quality, using less finite resources,
15:18 and it's all kind of encapsulated.
15:19 And the beautiful thing is is that when we
15:22 improve the way that our homes work as a system,
15:24 we get benefits in all those areas.
15:26 So, let's start with a kitchen, maybe.
15:28 Absolutely.
15:28 So, one of the major energy draws in a kitchen is always a refrigeration.
15:33 And that can be as much as 10% of your energy bills.
15:36 Let me ask you one quick question.
15:37 You can see we had some wine with dinner last night.
15:40 Okay.
15:40 And there was a little bit left over and we put it back in.
15:44 That's great.
15:45 Well, [music] but you're using more energy.
15:46 Should we have just finished the bottle of wine?
15:48 I think you should always finish a bottle of wine.
15:52 Okay.
15:51 I'll do it now.
15:52 What time is it?
15:53 Is it too early?
15:55 This is a gas stove.
15:57 I have always said [music] I would never cook on electrical stove
16:02 because I don't cook.
16:04 Okay.
16:04 But um is gas better than electric?
16:06 In general, gas is better than electric in that you get about
16:09 three times the heat out of the same dollars worth of gas.
16:12 The one thing always that [music] when we have combustion,
16:15 when we're burning stuff in the house is that we do have offging.
16:17 So, it's important to use that range [music] hood.
16:19 And that goes
16:19 Is that what that is?
16:20 That's what that is.
16:21 That'll that'll be pretty and I keep it clean.
16:24 Ethel, it's a range hood.
16:26 Yeah.
16:27 Yeah.
16:27 What we do is Ethel and I will just we'll
16:29 get [music] a a towel and wave it back and forth,
16:32 you know, if it's kind of smoky.
16:35 This is where I get my energy from the coffee machine.
16:39 Mhm.
16:39 But now it's plugged in.
16:40 Is that okay?
16:41 Yeah.
16:41 So, what we have in our house is we have phantom loads,
16:43 which are really plug loads.
16:44 When things even when it's not running, we [music] got a clock.
16:46 The system is actually drawing energy.
16:49 There's a lot of things that we aren't using that [music] continue to draw.
16:53 We find that, you know, we all have to have entertainment,
16:56 but sometimes we're spending a lot of money to not be entertained.
16:58 As much as a few hundred a year, like right now, we're not exactly.
17:02 And so, you can see, I mean, other than I'm talking to you.
17:04 I'm entertained.
17:05 That's got to be entertaining.
17:05 I hope everybody's [music] entertained as well.
17:07 I'm sure everyone is.
17:08 What we can see here is this is a, you know,
17:10 almost every all the equipment in the house has these little standby things.
17:13 Basically, this TV is standing by waiting for you to turn it on.
17:15 So, in the life of your average television,
17:17 75% of the energy it's [music] going to use is when it's in the standby mode.
17:20 You're not actually watching it.
17:22 If we look at actually what we have going on down here,
17:24 we have a lot of equipment that really could be on standby.
17:26 And uh you can actually feel more over here, Matt.
17:29 And I think we have some actually peaked.
17:31 I think we have some over here, too.
17:33 So, actually feel right here.
17:34 Just feel the heat that's coming out.
17:35 There's a lot of things like this amplifier
17:37 is really actually almost quite warm to the touch.
17:39 And these things can you can put them on like a power [music] strip
17:41 and just very simply turn them on and off um when they're not in use.
17:44 Let's talk to my people about that.
17:47 Let me show you what I do do.
17:49 This treadmill
17:51 is not plugged in as you notice.
17:52 That's great.
17:53 I don't keep it plugged in until I get on it and work out.
17:56 So, that's unplugged.
17:56 [music] The TV I'm not going to unplug.
17:59 Hear me out.
18:00 I know it's a lot of energy,
18:01 but if people unplug their TVs, they unplug their toos.
18:04 If they unplug their toos, they can't watch my show.
18:07 If they can't watch my show, I can't make the green.
18:09 If we're trying to go green and I'm trying to go green,
18:12 the only way I make the green is being on TV.
18:15 So, plus I help the people learn about the green.
18:17 [music] Absolutely.
18:18 So, don't unplug your toos.
18:21 [laughter]
18:21 Laundry equipment is another great way to save energy.
18:23 And you really have some great front loading washer and dryer.
18:27 And uh Thank you.
18:28 Yeah, they definitely save a lot of energy.
18:30 And the beauty is with the front loading washer,
18:31 we actually use a lot less water in the system because of the way that it spins.
18:35 You don't need to fill a whole tub up with water.
18:37 Did not know that.
18:37 And uh it actually ends up cleaning your clothes better.
18:40 So, this is another example of where you get energy efficiency,
18:42 but you can also get cleaner clothes and save energy.
18:45 This is just sheets.
18:46 Obviously, I have to do sheets like this.
18:48 When I when I do uh clothes, either I do them in the pool,
18:53 I swim with dirty clothes, which it's I get exercise and I'm cleaning.
18:57 And sometimes I'll take my dirty dishes in the shower.
19:02 This is how I dry my gloves.
19:03 If I'm out for the evening and, you know, they get soiled or something,
19:07 I'm out with Diane Keaton, for instance, maybe having pizza,
19:10 then I just dry my gloves on there.
19:13 One of the things that's really important is what
19:15 when we have a new child coming into the house,
19:17 one thing everybody does is it's time to create the [music] baby room.
19:20 And so what are we doing?
19:21 We're painting.
19:22 We're buying new carpeting, new baby toys, bringing plastics [music] in.
19:26 And so it's a time it's really a great
19:27 time for people to think about using stuff that off
19:30 gas is less chemicals cuz that that new
19:32 that new smell that you get from carpeting and stuff,
19:34 that's actually chemicals that are coming off the carpeting.
19:36 Not good for a new baby.
19:38 Particularly not good for a new baby.
19:39 We'll put that on our website then for the kind of paint.
19:41 That's really important.
19:43 So, in general, we went through your house today and you're really doing great.
19:46 That's what we try to do.
19:47 All right.
19:48 You've taught us a lot and I appreciate it.
19:51 And [music] uh can someone pull my Hummer around?
19:54 [laughter] No.
19:56 So, everybody should and if you can drive a car that's a hybrid.
20:00 Abs.
20:00 Well, hybrids are great and [music] drive less if
20:02 you can and really just take some small steps.
20:05 You don't have to change your whole life.
20:06 Little things make a difference.
20:08 This is a world [music] problem that we can all have an impact on.
20:11 Great.
20:12 All right.
20:13 Thank you so much.
20:14 Thank you very much for having us.
20:17 [applause] Thank you, Matt.

20:21 We'll be right back with Cameron Diaz after this.
20:23 Don't go away.
20:24 All right.
20:24 Our first guest stars in one
20:26 of the most highly anticipated movies of the summer,
20:28 Shrek the Third, which opens Friday.
20:30 Please welcome back my friend Cameron Diaz.
20:33 [cheering] [cheering]
20:48 kind of matching.
20:49 You [cheering] do.
20:50 It's fun.
20:51 Kind of.
20:52 [applause]
20:53 We did not coordinate our outfits today.
20:55 We did not coordinate, but we kind of look like we kind of go together
20:58 in the same family.
20:59 In the camel family.
21:01 Yes.
21:00 And I haven't seen you in in a in a while.
21:02 No.
21:03 So, since we have seen each other.
21:04 Yes.
21:05 Uh, a lot has happened.
21:08 Yes.
21:07 The thing that I have to bring up.
21:10 Of course you do.
21:10 All right.
21:11 You have to.
21:11 All right.
21:12 [laughter]
21:13 So, bring it on up.
21:14 All right.
21:16 You're blonde again.
21:17 I know.
21:17 So, that's uh Yeah.
21:19 [cheering] [applause]
21:23 You went dark.
21:24 Yes.
21:24 And and did you like that or did you do that for a reason or
21:28 you know I just I I love being a brunette
21:31 and um so I just it was one of those things
21:33 where I was like okay as soon as I'm done
21:35 working I'm going to do my hair dye my hair again
21:37 and I did and then I got really dark and then I moved it up
21:40 to a lovely light brown that I was
21:42 really happy with and I went in for highlights
21:45 and uh you know just kind of couple too extra
21:48 too many drops of bleach and I ended up blonde again.
21:51 But I'm happy to be back blonde I think.
21:53 Seriously.
21:53 Okay, so we're But let's [laughter]
21:56 let's talk about it.
21:58 Yeah.
21:57 You got your nose fixed.
21:58 That's right.
21:59 All right.
21:59 So,
22:00 I did.
22:00 I did finally breathe.
22:02 You because the because of the surfing accident, right?
22:04 Yeah.
22:04 Well, the four times that I broke my nose,
22:06 the third the fourth one kind of just did me in.
22:09 You didn't fix them the first three?
22:11 No.
22:11 They're asking you to pull up your shirt.
22:13 Oh, excuse them.
22:16 Yeah.
22:16 Thank you.
22:16 [laughter] I wasn't going to do
22:18 I was I I went through so many foolproofs on this, too.
22:20 It's not going to happen.
22:21 It ain't going to fall out.
22:22 I promise.
22:23 You didn't you didn't use the double stick tape, did you?
22:25 I hate double stick tape.
22:26 You can always see double stick tape.
22:28 Well, we we saw something else.
22:29 [laughter] True.
22:33 [cheering and applause] True that.
22:34 Sorry about it.
22:35 Just don't no zooming.
22:36 Okay, that's all right.
22:36 No, we'll just edit that part [laughter] out.
22:39 All right.
22:39 Um, you see, I never have that fear with the way I dress.
22:46 I never have to worry about that.
22:47 [laughter]
22:48 As I was walking out the door, they also told me, "Keep your legs closed." Yeah.
22:52 I was like, "All right." Well, speaking of legs, Victoria's Secret sexiest legs,
22:57 you just got sexiest legs.
22:59 I did.
23:02 [applause]
23:03 I'll tell you, it's one of those things like if people when I was a kid,
23:06 if somebody told me that I was going to get that award when I grew up,
23:09 I would have just like there's nothing on this planet that I would have ever
23:13 You didn't have great legs growing up.
23:14 When you
23:14 I had skinny little stick legs that did nothing
23:17 but carry me from one place to the next.
23:19 Nobody had any interest in them.
23:21 So, see, you you never know, kids.
23:24 You never know what what it what will happen to your
23:27 what you're going to grow up into, what you're going to blossom into.
23:30 Just never know.
23:31 All right.
23:31 So, let's really talk about it.
23:32 Okay, let's do it.
23:33 All right.
23:33 So, you and Justin broke up,
23:35 which was very sad and very depressing for a lot of us.
23:38 I think that I'm sorry.
23:40 I know.
23:40 It hurt.
23:41 It hurt me.
23:41 I You know what, though?
23:42 We can still play poker.
23:43 All right.
23:44 We just You'll still take my money.
23:45 Still Yeah.
23:46 [laughter] So, so now,
23:48 but you must be friends because I have not seen the pictures,
23:52 but everybody's saying at the at the premiere,
23:54 you and Justin saw each other and it was huge news that he came over
23:58 and kissed you on the cheek and everybody
24:00 went nuts and that's the that's the moment.
24:02 There it is.
24:05 Wow.
24:04 It's so It's Yeah, I I love how people just
24:06 expect people when you break up to just hate each other.
24:10 But you know the great the great thing is
24:12 that um Justin and I have lived extraordinary lives
24:15 and um we had a a wonderful opportunity to live
24:19 an extraordinary life together for a period of time.
24:22 And now
24:23 we live an extraordinary life, not the same way together,
24:26 but we're still in each other's lives in that way
24:28 that you know when you care about somebody,
24:30 you just want them to be happy.
24:32 And that's what we both are now.
24:34 So it's great.
24:35 So you're happy and he's happy and y'all are That's great.
24:37 I'm Life is amazing.
24:39 There's nothing not to be happy about.
24:41 I'm glad.
24:41 I'm I'm glad to hear that cuz you're a good person and you're a sweet person.
24:45 I like you.
24:45 Oh, now I just touched my own hand.
24:47 Awkward.
24:48 [laughter] It was weird cuz you touched my hand then you pulled
24:50 it away so fast I went like this to my own hand.
24:52 [laughter] It was soft, wasn't it?
24:55 It was really soft.
24:57 Yeah.
24:59 All right.
24:59 Share share some tips.
25:00 I You know, how did you First of all, let's talk about the Prius.
25:03 How did you find out so early on about the Prius?
25:06 You know, it was one of those things where I was just I had a car for like
25:09 seven years that I I get attached to things and I had a car and I was just like,
25:13 "Okay, finally now now I'm going to like I I I want a new car." So,
25:17 I started looking around, looked at the Mercedes, looked at the BMW.
25:20 I was like, "I'm going to get me a you know,
25:22 a nice appropriate car for myself." And somebody said,
25:25 "Um, you know, there's this new hybrid
25:28 coming out." And they hadn't been out yet.
25:29 And it sort of everybody was talking about it.
25:31 And I started becoming more aware about the environment.
25:34 And I just I said, "Well,
25:35 that sounds like a great option." And I went and I drove it and I
25:38 loved it and I just bought it and I've been thrilled with it ever since.
25:41 It's my favorite.
25:42 The same one that you bought?
25:43 No, I've had like five of them.
25:45 Yeah.
25:45 [laughter] Yeah.
25:46 I Everybody in the family has a new Prius.
25:49 All right.
25:49 So, uh you're going to stick around and help
25:51 me give away the Prius later in the show, right?
25:54 Yes.
25:54 Will you?
25:56 Absolutely.
25:56 All right.
25:56 We're going to take a break.
25:56 We're going to talk about uh Shrek the Third and uh we'll be right back.
26:00 We're back with Karen Diaz.
26:02 [applause] That's uh Shrek the Third and uh
26:04 so Princess Fiona is uh she's pregnant.
26:06 She's knocked up.
26:07 Yep.
26:07 Knocked up.
26:09 So that means it it looks like there would be a Shrek four
26:12 because there'd be babies and five and I'm kind of sec I feel secure.
26:16 They can't really knock off a Fiona yet.
26:20 Knock off but not knock off but not knock off.
26:22 So I might just be a part of the fourth one.
26:24 So because it is the best gig in the world, right?
26:27 Absolutely the best.
26:27 I I feel like I hit the lottery in so many ways.
26:30 Yeah.
26:30 But, you know, I mean,
26:31 the job for us as actors in this film really is the promotion part of it,
26:35 which, you know, is is sort of the job of every film you do,
26:39 going out there and trying to sell it.
26:40 But I love so much talking about this film.
26:43 I love it because it means so much to people
26:45 and people are they just want to see it.
26:48 They they can't wait for it.
26:49 So, it really is already I'm not selling this movie.
26:51 I'm just talking about it.
26:52 I heard it was amazing.
26:53 I heard it was great.
26:53 So, that's that's exciting.
26:55 All right.
26:55 And then so you have a doll now that's out
26:58 and that so it's kind of people have a ch uh Fiona
27:03 they have a choice of being uh the Fiona that the before right
27:07 and the the this Fiona right
27:09 all right just real quickly let's uh let let's because you have
27:13 a great tip for everybody that they can help out with water.
27:16 Yes.
27:16 Um this is the coolest thing we we talk
27:19 about in sort of the green movement that if
27:21 you just change one habit um then what what the effect of it is what you give
27:26 back to the earth and um if if everyone
27:29 in this audience turned off their water while they
27:31 were brushing their teeth we would save in one
27:34 year a half a million uh gallons of water.
27:37 So basically what you're saying is make
27:39 a little sticky note and say turn off water,
27:42 put it at eye level.
27:43 So when you're brushing your teeth to change the habit,
27:46 you just look at that and you go,
27:48 "Oh yeah, turn off the water." Or even don't turn it on all the way.
27:50 Like halfway on is even better.
27:52 I do it when I'm in the shower as I'm like lathering or something.
27:54 I keep it off
27:55 and then back on.
27:57 Yeah.
27:57 When I shave these great Victoria Secret legs.
27:59 The sexy legs that you have.
28:02 I always run the water to shave.
28:04 All right.
28:05 [laughter] If you want sexy legs like Cameron, turn off the water.
28:10 All right.
28:10 Uh, you can catch Cameron in Shrek the Third, which opens on Friday.
28:15 And, uh, by the way, everybody in the audience is getting the dolls.
28:18 [cheering] [applause] When we come back,
28:24 [cheering] Simi will give us some green tips.
28:26 Don't go away.
28:27 Our next guest is an environmental expert who's here to share
28:30 some simple tips on how we can all lead greener lives.
28:33 Please welcome Sim Sayi.
28:36 Sim.
28:36 [cheering] [applause]
28:38 Yeah.
28:38 Sim.
28:39 Sim.
28:39 Have I been saying Sim?
28:41 No.
28:41 You said every time.
28:43 I hope I did.
28:44 All right.
28:44 Teach us some uh everybody gets this choice.
28:47 Paper or plastic.
28:48 And uh every time they hit the grocery store, they get this choice.
28:50 I'm a person who adheres to the Bob philosophy.
28:53 In this case, I mean bring your own bag.
28:55 Um basically what happens with plastic is globally
28:57 we're using about a million plastic bags a minute.
29:00 And these things don't go away.
29:02 What a lot of people don't realize is
29:03 that plastic bags are petroleum based for the most part.
29:06 So that's part of this sort of addiction to oil that we have.
29:08 And when they when we put them in landfills, they don't biodegrade.
29:11 They photograde into smaller and smaller pieces.
29:13 Animals eat them, fish eat them, chemicals leech out of them,
29:16 and then we end up consuming them because we eat those animals
29:19 or we drink the water and they end up right back in us.
29:21 So all right.
29:22 So everybody, I think kind of knows.
29:24 So they think that the right choice is to say paper.
29:26 But right, but most of these paper bags
29:29 are actually made from what we call virgin trees,
29:30 which means that we're chopping trees down just to make
29:32 a paper bag that we're going to throw away.
29:34 So that doesn't make sense.
29:35 How many How many trees are we chopping down?
29:37 We're chopping down I mean depending on how you
29:38 know where we're going and where we're looking at.
29:40 We're chopping down millions and millions of trees
29:41 a year for these for these bags.
29:43 For these bags
29:44 and all we have to do is buy bags from a store
29:46 and bring our own bags so we don't keep doing this.
29:49 Bob, this is a great option.
29:50 This one, this canvas bag comes from Whole Foods,
29:52 but you can buy canvas bags anywhere.
29:54 You can rewash them, reuse them.
29:55 and they're easy to carry and many grocery stores
29:57 will actually give you money back for using them, right?
29:59 Uh so plastic that never goes away is
30:01 something that we also find with with plastic bottles.
30:03 Another place where you can bob.
30:04 I say bring your own reusable bottles with you.
30:07 And what people don't realize is that um most of the water or 40%
30:11 rather of the bottled water that we use actually comes from municipal sources,
30:15 which means it's basically tap water.
30:17 And as you and Cameron were talking about,
30:18 like we have a limited amount of water.
30:20 We turn on the tap, we think it's going to last forever.
30:21 There are so many places in the world
30:23 where people don't have access to clean drinking water.
30:25 Pure makes a really good uh uh filter that you can put on your tap.
30:28 This will cost about onetenth the price of actually
30:30 drinking bottled water and then put it in here.
30:33 This is a 100% aluminum bottle from Sig.
30:35 I love this is the bottle I use at the gym.
30:37 Lightweight as you can tell.
30:38 Um a little noisy.
30:39 Um and the great thing is it doesn't
30:41 leech any chemicals because you'll find plastic bottles
30:43 as well that you see that you can use over and over again, but they leech.
30:46 Some of them leech a chemical called bisphenol
30:48 A which is known to damage our endocrine system.
30:50 So this is aluminum.
30:51 You can recycle it over and over again.
30:52 It's a great option and you could when you taste plastic.
30:55 If you're drinking water and you taste plastic, it is bad.
30:58 All right.
30:58 So, and this is what we should be using on our homes.
31:02 Exactly.
31:02 You want clean to smell like clean.
31:03 A lot of people now think that clean is the smell of chlorine,
31:06 the smell of ammonia, lemons.
31:08 You're supposed to be lemony fresh.
31:10 Exactly.
31:10 Or pine fresh.
31:11 Yes.
31:11 Right.
31:11 Um clean is is not a smell.
31:14 And what we want to look
31:14 for in our cleaning products are non-toxic cleaning products.
31:17 These are by Seventh Generation.
31:18 The the key to cleaning products products is
31:20 you want to make sure that they work.
31:21 um Seventh Generation products work.
31:23 I think they're great and they're all plant-based and non-toxic.
31:26 All the the um household cleaners that we
31:28 see actually aren't required to post their ingredients.
31:30 So, we don't know what we're getting.
31:31 We may be getting volatile organic compounds, other carcinogens, um you know,
31:36 phosphates that end up again once they rinse down the drain,
31:38 they end up right back in our water supply and in our streams.
31:40 And not only not only that, but not we're we're we're smelling it.
31:44 We're inhaling it.
31:45 A lot of kids have asthma now that more
31:47 asthma cases and our little animals are walking
31:50 on the floor or the counters and they're licking
31:52 their paws and they're getting the chemicals in their bodies.
31:54 So for the animals and for our own good.
31:57 Our our spinners over there.
31:58 We have spinners and in the riff wrap
32:00 room and y'all have been going the entire time.
32:02 I can't believe it.
32:03 Y'all are [applause] Yeah.
32:08 Are they running this or No.
32:09 No.
32:10 All right.
32:10 I wish they were running this.
32:12 We're running out of time.
32:12 So let's talk about these.
32:14 These are compact fluorescent light bulbs.
32:15 Energy Star is what you want to look for in your light bulbs.
32:18 Um, we we tend to use really inefficient incandescent bulbs.
32:21 Uh, they they actually are are burn 80 to 90% heat.
32:25 They're really inefficient.
32:26 And these are what we want to look for.
32:27 We want to look for products that are going to reduce the amount
32:29 of energy that we're actually using so we can save our carbon.
32:32 So, um, they're more expensive initially,
32:34 but they last a lot longer and they give off the same light.
32:37 Everything they give off the same light as you can see.
32:39 Over the life of one of these 60 watt bulbs,
32:41 you're actually going to save about $30.
32:43 And if everybody in America just swapped out one bulb,
32:45 it would be the equivalent of taking 800,000 cars off the road.
32:49 So, a big change.
32:50 One bulb.
32:50 If we all just changed one bulb, much less if we if we all did more than that.
32:56 Exactly.
32:56 Exactly.
32:57 All right.
32:57 Uh I want to uh That's it, right?
32:59 I don't want to I don't want to interrupt, but uh I I'm looking at y'all.
33:02 You You're really This is worse than getting blank.
33:05 [laughter] All right.
33:07 You can go find out more information on these great
33:09 tips and many more by logging on to our website.
33:12 Uh to get everybody started here today, let me tell you what we're doing.
33:15 The Whole Foods reusable shopping tote bag
33:17 and Whole Foods uh gift card worth $100.
33:20 You're also getting everything we just talked about just now.
33:26 And [cheering] he's going to show us one more tip a little later in the show.
33:31 We're going to find out who's going to win the Prius.
33:32 [cheering] When we come back, don't go away.
33:34 All right, time to find out who our two finalists are in the Prius giveaway.
33:37 Andy, bring out the big hat.
33:40 [cheering] [applause] All right, can you hear your name?
33:50 Run on down here.
33:52 Amy Preston Gail, come on down.
33:56 [cheering] [applause] Hi, Amy Preston Gale.
34:01 All right.
34:02 [applause] Yolanda Teagle Teagel.
34:06 [cheering] All right.
34:08 [applause] This is Cameron Diaz, everybody.
34:13 Hi.
34:14 Nice to meet you.
34:16 And where do you live?
34:16 I live in Austin.
34:17 Austin.
34:18 What do you do?
34:18 I stay at home with my four and a half-year-old daughter.
34:20 Uhhuh.
34:21 What's her name?
34:22 Quinn.
34:22 Hala.
34:24 Hala.
34:23 All right.
34:24 She loves you, by the way.
34:25 I love her.
34:26 And what do you do?
34:26 And where do you live?
34:27 I'm from Maryland.
34:28 Laurel, Maryland.
34:29 and I'm a social worker.
34:30 And I give a shout out to my little son, Miles, who's 10 months old.
34:33 Hello, Miles.
34:34 And my husband, [cheering] Tim.
34:36 Hi, Tim.
34:37 [applause] All right.
34:38 You're each going to be asked a question based
34:39 on the information that Simron uh told us just just moments ago.
34:43 So, you you've got to remember it.
34:44 I'm sure you do.
34:45 And whoever gets the question right is going to win the car.
34:48 If you both get them right, then there's going to be a tiebreaker.
34:51 All right.
34:52 All right.
34:52 This is the first question.
34:53 I will hand you the mic.
34:55 Uh, which is better for the environment, paper or plastic bags?
34:58 paper.
34:59 Well, neither.
35:01 Well, neither.
35:01 What's the answer?
35:03 Paper.
35:03 The answer was neither.
35:04 You're supposed to bring your reusable cloth bag.
35:07 [laughter] Yeah.
35:08 No.
35:09 I gave you another chance.
35:10 I said, "All right, Yolanda.
35:13 Uh, if you get this right, you win the Prius." It's exciting.
35:17 What is the name of the environmentally
35:19 friendly cleaning products that we showed you?
35:24 [laughter] She's like, "Where?
35:25 Where are they?" here.
35:28 What were you two doing during that segment?
35:30 [laughter] While we were talking, you were dancing.
35:34 Yes.
35:34 All right.
35:35 There's going to be a tiebreaker.
35:36 You You should be ashamed of yourselves, both of you.
35:40 Everybody's out there going, "I don't have a Prius right now." All right.
35:44 All right.
