3:01 According to a new report from JAMA Pediatrics,

3:03 one in four teens are actively sexting one another.

3:07 Yes, I'm saying this to the mom of teens over here.

3:10 In fact, most teens actually admitted to forwarding

3:14 a sex without getting consent from the original sender.

3:17 It's gone so bad, in fact,

3:19 that parents are being told to have open conversations with their kids

3:22 to talk about the risk and legal legal consequences of sexting.

3:26 So, Mel, as a mom, does this concern you at all?

3:29 Well, I've got my 19-year-old down on lockdown, literally.

3:33 Phoenix, wait.

3:33 So, tell us how.

3:34 She does have a phone, but it's Okay.

3:36 but it's disconnected.

3:38 She's only allowed to use it on Wi-Fi until she gets a job.

3:41 Because at the end of the day, she's 19,

3:43 she's still living at home, and she's about to start college.

3:47 She still needs to contribute.

3:50 Yeah.

3:50 I'm single parent raising three three kids, paying for everything.

3:53 So, I'm kind of a little bit strict with her.

3:57 And as well, she has to know it's there's a big bad world out there.

4:39 to keep them in your in your household and and know what's going on with them.

4:48 What sexting again is is it the nude pictures?

4:51 Is it talking?

4:52 Both.

4:54 It's everything that is a little bit more than

4:56 a a little bit more than friends would be texting.

5:11 I have a lot of young nieces and nephews between the age of 13 to 19.

5:16 I actually counted between my close family circle of friends, I have 30.

5:20 30 cousins around that age, okay?

5:22 And real talk, I would say three out of four are sexting, not one out of four.

5:26 I'm sorry, but it's a lot more dangerous

5:28 in those streets nowadays than it was back in my day.

5:31 You know what I'm saying?

5:33 for me, pre-Jesus Jeannie,

5:34 I thought I was naughty when I had pagers

5:36 and I was hitting up the code let's go to bed.

5:42 Well, what I try to do as Auntie Lonnie is I try to, you know,

5:46 cuz I didn't really know what the whole sexting thing was,

5:49 but what I do know is that about the pictures and I was concerned about that.

5:53 So, I have um a number of nieces and nephews that are like,

5:56 you know, between those ages.

5:59 If they're under 18, I feel like as a parent and as a concerned

6:04 relative that I should be able to look at their phone.

6:07 Yeah.

6:07 Cuz they're under 18 and it's like you just want to see.

6:10 And that's what I'm saying.

6:12 Do you just go like give me your phone and that's you know.

6:14 and everything?

6:15 No, I've got my thumbprint in there.

6:17 Oh, good.

6:19 I think it's the only way I think it's like Lonnie said and Mel said,

6:22 it's the only way to really know what's going on.

6:24 They need to be aware that like I can go in your phone at any moment.

6:28 Don't try me.

6:29 I think that works great,

6:30 but I also think the most important thing is also having

6:32 an open conversation where you actually talk to your kids about like,

6:36 do you know what this is?

6:37 Do you know what's going on?

6:38 Are you doing this?

6:39 And I think honesty is super important.

6:42 Awareness is very important.

6:44 Because as well, once that picture [applause] or that text goes,

6:47 it stays in the iCloud somewhere.

6:49 Remember that the second you take a picture of anything,

6:52 it doesn't belong to you, honey.

6:53 It belongs to Gmail, iCloud, Google, the entire outer web.

6:57 Like Well, I also try to like look for articles or when

7:01 things happen with people with hacked accounts or something like that.

7:05 I says this is what you don't want.

7:08 Personal example is great as well.

7:10 I think like the day I become a parent or even now with with my little kids,

7:13 I would be honest and be like, look, this is what can happen.

7:16 Like, okay, I've done like I think you have to be honest, though,

7:19 and be real with your kids and be like everybody, you know, does dumb things.

7:23 Learn from my example.

7:24 Like if I can show you, don't do this.

7:26 Don't do what I did.

7:28 There were times where somebody may have asked me for a photo and I said yes

7:30 because I thought I wasn't cool enough or like the guy won't want to date me.

7:33 Like the man that is worthy of your respect,

7:36 the guy that is worthy of your love is going

7:38 to respect you and your decision to not send photos like that.

7:42 But that and also Go ahead.

7:43 No, I said honesty is good,

7:45 but you have to be a little bit aggressive with the kids, too.

7:47 Okay.

7:47 You have to like lay down the law.

7:49 I can understand.

7:51 Like what you know, like what do you say?

7:54 Cuz I'm not a parent.

7:55 So, I'm like I need to learn as I cuz I can I think I'm too aggressive.

8:02 So, I have to pick my words carefully,

8:03 but basically, if you're living under my house,

8:06 you have to stick to my house rules or you get kicked out.

8:09 Cuz she's 19.

8:10 And my daughter, I've already kicked her out for 15 days before.

8:14 Yes.

8:14 I was like, go and be a big girl if you're going to act like a big girl.

8:17 And then she came back?

8:18 with respect.

8:18 After 15 days, she did.

8:21 Wow.

8:21 And I'm like a lot a lot like dramatic with mines, you know,

8:26 cuz I'm like even though they're not my they're I'm their aunt,

8:29 you know, like You don't want to be a hoe in these streets.

8:31 ALL RIGHT, Y'ALL?

8:32 YOU DON'T WANT PEOPLE CALLING YOU THAT.

8:35 YOU KNOW, I MEAN, IT'S This is whether IT'S FEMALE OR MALE.

8:38 CUZ I'M GOING TO TELL YOU, a lot of females do it more than males.

8:42 Yes.

8:42 I can see that.

8:44 You know, and they do it because they

8:45 think that that's going to get them the attention.

8:48 And they do that.

8:48 So, you have to really do when you're saying talk to the girls,

8:51 you have really have to talk to them and and explain to them that this is

8:54 not the way cuz a lot of times the guys don't ask, they just do it.

8:58 Yeah.

8:58 And send it because they're thinking that's what I MEAN TO DO.

9:00 AT that age, these kids if you are sending naked pictures to a teenage boy,

9:05 trust me, he is showing it to everyone in the locker room.

9:08 Yes.

9:08 Right.

9:08 You have to be aware of that.

9:10 And that [applause] it's much it's so much more of a deeper issue than like,

9:14 oh, my kid is sexting.

9:15 Like what about talking to young women about self-worth and like

9:18 what makes you feel like you have to do this?

9:20 And that's just an HONEST REAL CONVERSATION THAT WE'VE all been through.

9:23 Or just tell them look what happened to Black China.

9:26 SEE, NOW THAT'S NOW, THAT'S that's that's where I'm getting an issue.

9:30 I'm getting confused.

9:31 Because we have a lot of celebrities, you know, that send out stuff.

9:36 That send it out on their own as, you know, or maybe it's leaked or whatever.

9:40 That's the problem I'm having.

9:42 Like how do I justify when they come at me and say,

9:45 well, you know, this person does it.

9:47 Why can't I do it?

9:49 Well, I think it's a question of do you want to be that person?

9:53 Is that Pick your role models.

9:55 Like and that your role models shouldn't

9:57 be people on television and on Instagram.

9:59 They should be people in your life,

10:00 your mother, your someone at church, like a aunt,

10:03 someone that is respectable that you actually And that's

10:06 not to say that these people aren't respectable,

10:07 but we got to do better than expecting the role models

10:10 in our children's lives to be people on Instagram and celebrities.

10:13 Well, yeah.

10:14 I mean, that's nice, but they look up to these people.

10:17 I mean, and they they they jam to their music, they look at their TV shows.

10:21 So, the only thing that I can say, I don't know.

10:23 This is the the only thing I can say is cuz they grown and you not.

10:26 That's all I can say.

10:27 Uh yeah, but yes, but at the same time,

10:30 I think this is where I don't like putting

10:32 the pressure on us other celebrities to raise our kids, right?

10:35 And I say this ours as a community.

10:36 Your kids our kids that I have to live

10:38 with that they deal with out in these streets, right?

10:40 So, when you think of a child who is looking so much up

10:43 to another celebrity and putting the pressure on that celebrity to be like them,

10:46 you have to rebuild your the confidence and the security in who this young woman

10:51 or this young man is and why you raised them to be who they are.

10:54 That's parenting skills 101, yeah.

10:57 Yes, it's not it's not about the celebrity.

10:59 It's not the celebrity's fault.

10:59 It's not Blac Chyna's fault if your kid is,

11:01 you know, sending out crazy nudes and stuff.

11:03 It's really your job as a parent to listen to your kid and to really build them

11:07 as a whole inside so that they feel good

11:09 about themselves and know that they don't need that Yeah.

11:12 But saying that, I did get [applause]

11:15 um a naked picture from a guy the other day and I thought,

11:19 "Doesn't even look right.

11:20 Why would anybody think that that looks

11:22 attractive [laughter] on a picture?" Right, right.

11:24 Like so, guys, don't don't be doing that either.

11:27 Yeah, really.

11:28 Exactly.

11:28 Exactly.

11:32 Well, from sexting to sobbing, ooh.

11:35 Twitter user Nicole Cliff recently admitted to openly crying all over

11:39 the city of New York and felt like she wasn't the only one.

11:43 So, she asked users for their most embarrassing crying

11:46 in public moment and the responses are so hilarious.

11:49 For example, @xorangex said,

11:53 "I cried on a stranger's front stoop for so long that a random

11:57 woman comforted me and told me I'd pass the driving test next time.

12:02 She was wrong." Aw.

12:04 That's crazy.

12:05 And @fracturecritical said, "I have cried in Target on three separate occasions.

12:11 What?

12:10 I've always said when I write my memoir,

12:12 it will have a chapter titled Crying in Target." So,

12:16 ladies, I have to ask you, have you ever just lost it in public?

12:20 Like sobbing?

12:21 Yeah.

12:21 I DO IT ON THIS SHOW ALL THE TIME.

12:26 I WAS LIKE, "WHERE'S THE PLACE I've cried the most in public?" Here.

12:29 Here, which is so embarrassing cuz everybody sees it.

12:32 Like, it's not just the people in the room.

12:34 YOU GUYS SEND THIS ALL over the nation.

12:37 AND THEN THEY THINK SOMETHING WRONG WITH HER.

12:38 What's she she going through?

12:40 What's she WHAT'S SHE SHE LONELY.

12:43 SHE DID.

12:44 I CRIED A LOT ON AGT last year.

12:46 A lot, yeah, cuz there was there was a lot going on.

12:48 My father died last year and there was a one

12:51 of the contestants had her dad was going through that, too.

12:54 So, I was very emotional.

12:55 But then cut to I'm at Ralphs and somebody

12:58 gave me this lovely compliment and I went, "Really?

13:01 Um you think I'm nice?" And I just burst into tears randomly.

13:04 And then I had to stand in in the line crying by myself with my trolley of food.

13:11 [laughter]

13:10 See, if I would have saw you, I would have not that because you're male B,

13:15 I would cuz I see people if I see them in public crying,

13:18 I will check in on them.

13:20 I mean, even though I'm like, you know, and I try to be gentle like I say.

13:23 gave me a hug.

13:23 She was nice.

13:25 But also, I did go to a safe house 2 weeks ago,

13:29 which was a voluntary place that this woman owns and she looks after

13:34 women that have I've got to come and talk cuz I'm going to cry.

13:36 I've experienced and gone through domestic violence.

13:39 So, I spent the whole day with them cheering them up.

13:41 I got them hair and makeup done.

13:43 I got them all purple roses.

13:45 And so, they were really really happy,

13:46 but then they started to tell me their stories and I'm like, "No.

13:49 [screaming] NO.

13:51 NO." CUZ I WANTED THEM ALL TO feel good.

13:53 Yeah.

13:53 Feel good.

13:54 So, that was my me giving back because, you know,

13:56 some women have been through the mill and to to come

13:59 out of something like that and be a survivor,

14:01 I was like, "I want to spend the day with each and every one of you." [applause]

14:05 That's great.

14:09 What What did you work What were you telling the women?

14:11 I mean, you could relate, I understand I was emotional,

14:14 but what do you tell a person who's, you know, that's been through that?

14:18 Well, everybody has their own story and I think most of it

14:21 starts off with being emotional emotionally abused and feeling very vulnerable.

14:26 And then the guys swooping and they take advantage of that.

14:29 So, once the woman knows that that is unacceptable

14:32 and they they do Bible studies at this place.

14:35 They They They get re-educated and they get to feel their self-worth

14:39 from that from themselves and get to feel

14:42 respect and it's a whole community of women.

14:44 There's about 45 women in this house that this one woman runs by herself.

14:49 All volunteers that help.

14:51 That is really beautiful.

14:53 We have to do more of that.

14:55 Yeah, that's true sisterhood.

14:57 I'm so happy you're doing that.

14:58 That Yes, that helped you with what you've been going through?

15:01 Oh my god, yes.

15:03 Because, you know, when you're going through something like

15:04 that, you think that that you're completely alone, but you're not.

15:07 I mean, there's many people probably sitting even sitting right here

15:10 right now that have had some kind of experience on domestic violence,

15:14 whether it be abusive physically or mentally.

15:16 So, well done for being here.

16:34 the Atlanta Airport decided to post a fake departure to the country saying,

16:39 quote, "The bags are packed." And someone who wanted to take

16:49 Amazing film." WELL, R.

16:51 KELLY'S BOARDING pass was quickly denied by Nigerian author Lovy Ajayi,

20:25 I was back there with your mom.

20:26 We were like I WAS I WAS NERVOUS.

20:28 THEY WERE NOT NERVOUS at all.

20:29 They knew you were going to kill it and do your thing.

20:32 It was a lot of fun.

28:18 It meant everything to me.

28:19 I mean, you know, on my journey, um after writing the book, Every Little Step,

28:26 um I've just been concentrated on just being better as a man,

28:31 you know, being healthier as a man.

28:33 And um I think, you know, just being able to get everything out,

28:38 all of the garbage out, you know, being able to do that is is everything for me.

28:43 And um I was very appreciative.

29:52 is of course safe haven that we are attempting

29:55 to open and support domestic violence survivors and get the women,

30:01 children, families help immediately.

30:03 A place to come to.

30:04 They'll get like you were speaking about spiritual healing,

30:07 tools so that they don't go back

30:08 into these relationships and anything and everything they need,

30:11 but we just want them to leave and come and have a place to go.

30:15 Wow, that is fantastic.

30:18 I know later this year BET is going to release the Bobby Brown story,

30:22 which is a follow-up to the New Edition story.

30:24 So we want to know when you start filming

30:26 and what are we going to see in the mini-series?

30:28 Um, we start filming March 5th and you're going to see everything.

30:33 Basically everything that I've been through in my life um from the ups to downs,

30:39 you know, the pitfalls and you know

38:40 sincere and how genuine her words were were and and she was really supportive.
