How MrBeast Works 18 Hours Per Day

How MrBeast Works 18 Hours Per Day

Jon Youshaei

0:00 There were tons of moments when I was younger where I would cry.

0:02 Everyone tells me it's not realistic.

0:04 At the end of the day, I just loved it and I loved making videos.

0:06 I loved entertaining people.

0:08 All four or five that watched it back then.

0:12 99,000 subscribers off of 400 million.

0:15 We're going to see if the highest jumper

0:17 in the world can jump higher than a tiger.

0:19 What a record.

0:20 Can he do it?

0:23 You're levitating.

0:25 My schedule is literally planned down to the minute.

0:27 I got to get there.

0:27 Go and do the next thing and the next thing

0:29 and the next thing and the next thing and the next thing.

0:30 The onset of one of Jimmy's most expensive videos.

0:33 He's giving away this private jet that's worth over $2 million.

0:37 If he goes another 100 days, I'll give him half a million dollars.

0:41 No.

0:41 Are you doing another 100 days or do you want to go hang out with your family?

0:46 It was a miracle.

0:46 If a day was less than 15 hours,

0:48 Jimmy is already sprinting to his next video.

0:51 You are pregnant.

0:52 We're in a thumbnail shoot.

0:54 They're spending hours getting everything set up.

0:56 How much money do you think all the gear here is worth?

0:59 It's definitely north 5 million.

1:00 How many cameras have you used on a shoot?

1:02 We were at about 350 individual cameras.

1:06 Welcome to Survivor.

1:07 Welcome to Fiji.

1:08 Jeff's been doing Survivor as long as I've been alive.

1:10 They've taken this genre and just steroided.

1:15 It means like finally a break.

1:17 His eyes have been shut for like 30 seconds.

1:19 He's like taking a nap.

1:23 Do you ever think you'd die when you were doing your YouTube videos?

1:25 There's 20,000 lb of dirt on me.

1:27 And if the coffin broke, I was dead.

1:34 We're going to hit 400 million soon.

1:36 John, we're 99,000 subscribers off of 400 million.

1:39 Did you already write a tweet or

1:40 Yeah.

1:41 Tell me what you think of that.

1:42 A decade ago, before I blew up, everyone in my life told me I was too obsessed.

1:45 I literally told my mom I'd rather be homeless than do anything else.

1:49 When I first said I wanted to be a YouTuber,

1:51 you know, we'd make $20,000 in a month.

1:53 and the next month I'd be like, "Well,

1:55 we're going to spend $20,000 on videos." My mom um she would cry.

1:59 We had so many conversations where she would literally bowl her eyes out crying.

2:02 And I didn't realize it at the time,

2:04 but my mom lost everything in 2008 cuz they're overleveraged.

2:07 The worst financial crisis in modern times,

2:10 thring home prices, rising unemployment.

2:12 This was a very bad day.

2:14 It's official.

2:14 We are in a recession.

2:15 Like her PTSD kicking in and she didn't want me to go bankrupt.

2:19 Those thoughts never even once crossed my mind.

2:21 why would I set money aside to do like other YouTube videos?

2:24 And she's like, "No,

2:25 so you don't go bankrupt like I did." Even to the point where one time

2:29 she actually took $100,000 and hid it from me in a different account in my name.

2:33 She didn't steal the money.

2:34 Cuz she was like, "That way at least if Jimmy goes bankrupt,

2:36 he has 100 grand and he's not like homeless."

2:39 Don't you owe a lot of money on your house?

2:40 Yes.

2:41 So I wanted to give you a check that'll be pay for it.

2:45 No, I can't.

2:45 I can't take it.

2:46 I swear I cannot pay it.

2:48 So, you use me for views and I get to pay off my mortgage.

2:51 Mhm.

2:52 I think it works out pretty well.

2:53 What an entrepreneur.

2:57 She was just like, I'm gonna stop like crying and doubting you

3:00 and like if you want to reinvest and go hard, go for it.

3:03 Get all emotional.

3:04 Oh my god.

3:09 I met Jimmy when I think we were both about 8 years old.

3:12 Who is Tyler Conlin?

3:14 We played baseball together in little league.

3:17 He probably told you that he hit a home run off me.

3:19 Uh, okay.

3:20 Well, never mind.

3:20 Delete that footage.

3:21 Uh, and little league.

3:23 I'm kidding.

3:23 Put that in whoever's editing,

3:24 but put in the part where I told you to delete it cuz it'll be funny.

3:27 But, uh, yeah, at 11 we played the little league.

3:29 Then he ended up coming to my school.

3:31 As I started doing videos,

3:32 I started doing like these videos where we'd copy Dude Perfect.

3:35 And eventually, as I started scaling up, I didn't know how to hire.

3:39 So, what did I do?

3:40 I called all my friends from high school and I'm like, "Yo,

3:42 you want to help me make videos?" And Tyler's one of the people I called.

3:45 I think he started off as like kind of a janitor

3:47 cleaning for like whatever eight bucks an hour when I first started,

3:50 him and Chandler, which is funny.

3:52 My two janitors, one is now my lead director that writes everything.

3:55 And other is one of my co-hosts, Chandler.

3:57 So, I did a good job at hiring janitors back in that day.

4:00 There were people in my grade that would put on his YouTube

4:03 videos and they would laugh at him and be like,

4:04 "Look at this awkward dude filming something." Cuz kids are

4:07 kind of mean and no one would sit next to him.

4:09 He would go play catch and no one want to play catch with him.

4:12 He was very socially awkward.

4:13 It's hard to remember, but being a YouTuber was weird back then.

4:16 Good times.

4:17 By good times, I mean horrible times.

4:19 Yeah, it was so cringe.

4:20 I hate it.

4:21 I just felt like an outcast.

4:23 There are tons of moments when I was younger where I would cry,

4:25 but I even had a video where I was like,

4:27 I think I I should probably quit YouTube.

4:28 Everyone tells me it's not realistic.

4:30 No one understands.

4:31 But at the end of the day, I just loved it.

4:34 And I loved making videos.

4:35 I loved entertaining people.

4:36 All four or five that watched it back then.

4:39 About $10,000.

4:40 Every one of these 456 people survives the longest wins 456 grand.

4:45 I recreated Willy Wonka's chocolate factory in real life.

4:48 We just HIT 100 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS IS $1 MILLION.

4:52 AND NOW I literally right now have to go give away $5 million.

4:56 I'll see you there.

4:57 And competing for this money are 100 of the strongest people

5:00 on the planet versus 100 of the smartest people on Earth.

5:05 When Beast Games first started,

5:06 the thought of doing something on television was cool.

5:09 Like in season one, we are about to play Captain Pride.

5:13 If you walked away a millionaire, it would change your life dramatically.

5:16 I was like, I want to see that through.

5:18 Let's do that.

5:19 This is the most important day of our entire season.

5:22 This is the make or break as to whether

5:24 somebody watches our whole show or leaves after episode 3.

5:28 TURN ON THE LIGHTS.

5:30 WE'RE ABOUT TO PLAY CAPTAIN BRIDE.

5:32 People love what we do on YouTube, so we want to do it bigger.

5:35 We want to do it different because it's 6 hours of content,

5:36 not a normal 30-minute video.

5:38 But there are still some intrinsic things about our YouTube videos people love.

5:40 HERE WE GO.

5:41 START THE MONEY COUNTER.

5:43 LET'S SEE IF ANY OF THEM TAKE A BRIBE.

5:45 Our goal was to stick to our roots.

5:47 And our roots is virality.

5:49 Doing the biggest and best.

5:51 JUST SAY NO TO BRIBES.

5:52 YOU GOT THIS, HANNAH.

5:53 That's a lot of money.

5:54 Speeding up.

5:55 Here we go.

5:56 Your word.

5:57 Your heart is not for sale.

6:03 He took it.

6:08 Everyone's coming down from the tower and that has to be one

6:11 of the most awkward rides down because JT is there and screwed over his team,

6:16 took the $1 million bribe.

6:18 Beast Games doesn't compare to any traditional kind of TV

6:22 shows and we built it from the ground up.

6:24 A record-breaking number of a,000 players is currently stampeding this arena.

6:29 Season 1 was something new for everyone.

6:32 The first conversation was Jimmy calls me and he said,

6:34 "I want to film a show with a lot of people and a lot of money.

6:38 Maybe it's like 10 episodes and each episode is super different."

6:42 But he was referring to it being on a YouTube video.

6:44 And then it turned into a TV show.

6:46 And shout out to Mike Cruz.

6:48 He had a lot of ins with television people.

6:52 Me and Mike flew to LA and started pitching.

6:54 And that was when it was scary because one day I'm going to wake up.

6:58 I'm going to walk on a set that's a television set, very different than YouTube,

7:03 and I'm going to have to find a way to get this done.

7:06 And the beauty for us with Beast Games is we have a YouTube channel.

7:09 And so I can do a game for $200,000 in one of my YouTube videos.

7:13 And if it goes well and people really like it,

7:15 then now I can feel more confident when I spend,

7:17 you know, sometimes $10 million building a set

7:20 on Beast Games that the viewers will like it.

7:23 This, wow, is level four.

7:25 An example of this would be we had this video

7:27 where we built an obstacle course over water with spinny

7:30 things and bouncy balls and one of my friends

7:32 named Mac had to go through it to win $800,000.

7:34 You built this in 2 weeks.

7:37 One person competed on it and then you're going to tear it down.

7:41 Absolutely.

7:41 And in traditional TV, they'll run like 20 seasons on one side.

7:46 Not us.

7:46 That would be boring.

7:47 Who wants to watch the same thing over and over again?

7:50 Not me.

7:50 I want to see a unique video every week.

7:53 And people really, really loved it.

7:54 The retention was really good by YouTube standards.

7:57 So on episode 3 of Beast Game season 2,

8:00 we brought back an obstacle course, made it bigger.

8:03 It's also overwater, this obstacle course.

8:05 And you instead of one contestant, we had dozens of contestants.

8:08 Did tons of different games.

8:09 The lighting, the coverage, everything was just way cooler.

8:11 We had a way more expensive set.

8:12 Back in the day, we recreated Squid Games.

8:14 And ever since then, our sets have been getting bigger and bigger on YouTube.

8:17 So we got a lot of reps under our belts of like

8:19 how do you structure the sets in a way where they feel realistic?

8:22 you know, like the hallway they walk into, the shot selection,

8:25 like even little things like cutting little

8:26 holes for the cameras to shoot through,

8:28 what height, what angles do you want?

8:29 All these things we've field tested so many dozens of times on our YouTube

8:33 channel that now when we do the same thing but way bigger on Beast Games,

8:36 it's just not as scary cuz we've done it so much.

8:38 You don't just go from never building anything

8:40 to building massive cities like we do on Beast Games.

8:43 And we got that confidence cuz we were able to do on YouTube first.

8:46 How did you manage your time between YouTube and Beast Games?

8:49 It was a miracle if a day was less than 15 hours for me.

8:52 My schedule is literally planned down to the minute.

8:54 Everything has to be perfect because I just don't, you know, have much time.

8:57 I got to get there, go,

8:57 and then I got to go do the next thing and the next

8:59 thing and the next thing and the next thing and the next thing.

9:01 For example, our thumbnails, like our grid system that we lay out on the floor.

9:04 We have standins, practice the photos before me.

9:06 So, in a couple of weeks, we have obstacle video coming out.

9:10 This is one of our concepts for it.

9:11 We're shooting with Jimmy's body doubles.

9:14 Doing our best we can to replicate the concept.

9:16 part of my face gets edited out anyways,

9:18 but I try to like get into it like I'm actually falling.

9:21 I think that kind of helps with the product.

9:23 I'm here 9 to5 Monday through Friday as of right now.

9:26 Taking thumbnail photos.

9:27 Yeah.

9:27 Yeah.

9:28 9 to 5.

9:29 Yeah.

9:29 You ready?

9:30 Yep.

9:30 All right.

9:31 Rolling.

9:32 We're right now in a thumbnail shoot.

9:34 They're spending hours getting everything set up so

9:36 that when Jimmy comes in, he's just ready to go.

9:39 And so I can just go boom boom boom boom

9:41 take the photos and get out because I can't waste time.

9:44 Like 5 minutes.

9:45 I can't waste it.

9:46 Right now, they're setting up and telling everyone where to stand on the grid.

9:50 It is so precise.

9:52 How important is the grid?

9:53 Right now, we need all of our production

9:55 assistants who aren't as familiar with the gear

9:57 to be able to hit their spot right when they know and, you know,

10:00 clearly know exactly where they're going.

10:02 It lets us keep track of where all the lights are,

10:04 where all the people are, where the camera is,

10:06 and then we can save all of that info

10:08 and if we ever have anything that's like super similar concept,

10:11 then we can just reset back to what we had before like that.

10:14 So, it's really helped our efficiency in terms of like shooting with Jimmy.

10:18 It's a pretty goofy little job we have here.

10:22 As much as I wish I wrapped everything before Games,

10:24 there were just so many main channel videos I still had to do.

10:29 So, this is day 100 of the survive 100 days in a prison.

10:33 So, you learned under Tyler.

10:35 Now, you're the creative director.

10:37 What do you think is the biggest thing you take on to free up Jimmy's time?

10:41 And we film some of these check into 15 minutes.

10:43 All the bits are planned out and made sure they're ready,

10:45 keep them time as cut as short as possible.

10:47 When he rolls up, he's able to just flow, flow, flow, show up, do it, get out.

10:51 The guy with the tattoos, uh,

10:53 he spent 3 years in federal prison for running a Ponza scheme.

10:56 Obviously, I'm not going to have a murderer.

10:57 And he wants to use the money if he wins to pay back restitution to his victims.

11:01 So, it's a a good story.

11:02 So, how many cameras are in this prison set?

11:05 Uh, there's about 28.

11:07 28.

11:07 And they're rolling 24/7.

11:09 That's correct.

11:09 Another example of us testing things on YouTube to bring

11:12 over to Beast Games would just be our control room.

11:14 Look at all the stuff behind me.

11:16 It did not exist as of a few days ago.

11:18 They've literally set up a custom control room.

11:20 It is a huge undertaking.

11:22 We also have this for every set in Bcans.

11:24 We have like 10 of these and all these sets

11:26 have their own story producers that are taking notes.

11:28 All right.

11:28 You can see the control room is in a totally different place than usual.

11:31 It's in this truck.

11:32 In the control room, there's an army of story producers.

11:35 They all have headsets on.

11:36 They're listening to a hundred different people's mics.

11:38 Are you listening to every single microphone on set?

11:41 We have the capability to switch between them and kind of check

11:45 on all the different players and also listening to Jimmy and his boys.

11:49 What do you do for a living?

11:50 Just out of curiosity.

11:51 Stay at home dad.

11:52 I play with blocks every day.

11:53 So all of these are tags that you can sort by these different tags.

11:56 So if I just want to see everything that we thought was funny,

12:00 I could search by funny.

12:01 As the episode goes on, we are going to add notes of things

12:05 that stood out to us on camera that we heard them say.

12:08 you saw them do like 69 he was doing this like crazy dance and I

12:12 have a note of that and I want to add that into his one sheet.

12:15 You really don't know who's going to end up in the finale and we

12:19 want to know that they have a full strong story from the very first episode.

12:23 So we're filming just so much content at the same time.

12:25 It's unfathomable.

12:27 We're on set of one of Jimmy's most expensive videos.

12:30 She's giving away this private jet that's worth

12:32 over $2 million to a guy that's been living,

12:36 sleeping, and traveling on it for the past 99 days.

12:39 So, this control room is here for over

12:41 aundred days filming him while we're shooting Beast Games.

12:44 Today's day 100, so he's made it,

12:46 and Jimmy's about to come in and gift it to him.

12:49 I think it's going to get crazy.

12:50 WE'RE MOMENTS AWAY FROM THE VIDEO ENDING.

12:52 AND IT'S TIME for one final decision.

12:55 Tariq, bring them out.

12:58 Here's the thing.

12:59 Your family has no idea about the second offer.

13:02 If he goes another 100 days, I'll give him half a million dollars.

13:06 No.

13:07 No.

13:08 No.

13:07 You want your husband back?

13:10 Yeah.

13:09 When you sign this line, this private jet will be in your name.

13:13 This is a $2.5 million signature.

13:17 Okay.

13:18 It's officially yours.

13:19 And my final question is,

13:20 are you doing another 100 days or do you want to go hang out with your family?

13:25 I think I'm going to choose that option right now.

13:27 GO SAY HI to him.

13:31 Oh, that's so adorable.

13:32 I don't know if I'm getting emotional because I'm

13:34 also a dad and being part of this documentary,

13:36 I'm away from my daughter for about 30 days to film this.

13:39 Seeing his daughter, his wife, all his friends and family here, it's emotional.

13:44 Does this feeling ever get old or feel normal?

13:47 This is fresh every time.

13:47 It's crazy.

13:49 Look, it's the look on his face when he sees his families.

13:52 It's always It's always the best.

13:53 How many times you guys visit the set these 100 day videos typically?

13:57 Like 60 times.

13:58 Yeah.

13:59 Wow.

13:59 At least.

13:59 I mean, I've spent so much time with this guy.

14:01 Like, I feel like I like we're friends now.

14:03 Look at THIS GUY.

14:04 LOOK.

14:04 LOOK HOW strong he is.

14:05 All right, that's a wrap on the private jet video.

14:08 Jimmy is already sprinting to his next one.

14:10 We also filmed this whole video where we had Cheetah versus

14:12 the world's fastest car and all these other stunts going on.

14:15 And

14:15 so, we went to South Africa, raced the Formula E car.

14:18 It's the fastest accelerating car in the world versus the Cheetah.

14:21 And we filmed tug of war with the world's strongest man versus a lion.

14:24 We had like an elephant that came in and painted.

14:26 What are you filming today?

14:27 All right.

14:27 We're going to see if uh the highest jumper

14:30 in the world can jump higher than a tiger.

14:32 Oh, wow.

14:32 She's right behind you.

14:34 Oh, she tried to touch you.

14:37 This is going to be lit.

14:39 You feel like YouTube videos like this are a testing grounds for beast games?

14:44 100%.

14:44 If you watch our ages one to 100 decide video,

14:47 we had Jimmy go up and give $10,000

14:49 for anyone who's willing to eliminate their rope.

14:51 We're now at $50,000.

14:53 I'm sorry.

14:55 ARE YOU SERIOUS?

14:57 That hit.

14:58 We ran it for the show.

14:59 One of the best moments of season 1.

15:02 900.

15:02 Oh my god.

15:03 Oh my god.

15:05 Wow.

15:04 We got it back in season 2.

15:06 He took it.

15:08 Oh,

15:10 cuz you have an incubator for content ideas that most big shows do not have.

15:15 Yeah, we try it and see how it feels.

15:17 And it feels right, we do it.

15:18 You know, to get the tiger excited.

15:20 That chicken leg right there is going to bounce up and down.

15:24 Oh, she wants it.

15:25 How hard is it to shoot with live animals?

15:27 Can't really tell a tiger to jump.

15:28 We have to use its bait.

15:29 But like if it decides it's not hungry enough to jump,

15:31 then it just doesn't jump.

15:32 Yeah.

15:33 All right, here comes the jump.

15:35 We got to reload.

15:36 She got it.

15:36 This is a brutal part of working with animals.

15:38 There's one point where we're sitting here calling him

15:40 over and over and over as he's not answering

15:42 in hopes that he finally picks it up and shows

15:45 up on set cuz we're filming in like 15 minutes.

15:47 Yo, what's up, man?

15:48 We got a shot of getting Jimmy here now for rehearsal.

15:51 He had Fables meetings.

15:52 He had to film with the main channel.

15:53 He had to film vertical content.

15:55 He's filming non-stop.

15:57 We're just trying to get the tiger shot.

15:59 The tiger keeps catching the meat and we're trying to get a good jump.

16:02 When do you need me there?

16:03 Those are a little tricky because on one hand I totally

16:06 understand and on the other hand we got a show to film.

16:08 I thought there was a world he didn't show

16:10 up to his own shoot and I got nervous.

16:12 So we're like 2 hours behind.

16:14 We're 2 hours behind.

16:15 Thing is creative is the most important thing in the world.

16:18 So we won't compromise on creative.

16:19 We'll wait here until we get the best shot that we can get.

16:22 We're struggling to get her to jump.

16:23 So I'm going to try doing the pulley myself.

16:27 You might have got it.

16:28 Let's see.

16:29 Is that the slow-mo?

16:30 Yeah.

16:30 Oh yeah.

16:30 Here it is in slow-mo.

16:33 I

16:34 That's way cooler than I thought.

16:35 That's That's what I'm saying.

16:36 These shots look sick.

16:37 And then we'll be able to play the side by side of you both going up.

16:40 How do you manage Jimmy's schedule?

16:42 There's what Jimmy wants and needs,

16:43 and then there's also what every single

16:45 other person in the company wants and needs.

16:47 I mean, I still have to do voice over and work out before I leave.

16:50 It's fascinating to see how content revolves around his schedule.

16:54 I mean, Jimmy used to do these 7-day videos, like 7 days in a coffin,

16:58 which meant he could only do one video per week.

17:01 But now Jimmy has teams that set

17:03 up different shoots from YouTube to Beast Games.

17:06 He can film a ton more videos per week.

17:08 So Jimmy can come into this segment, film it, and go out,

17:11 which looks like they're about to wrap,

17:12 and you guys are going to take them, too.

17:14 Beast game set next.

17:15 And then we'll do that for about 4 or 5 hours, and then 3:00 or 4:00 a.m.

17:19 we'll do another Man versus Animal bit at a junkyard where we have a bunch

17:22 of uh Navy Seals hiding from dogs that are supposed to find the Navy Seals.

17:27 This is his old world record.

17:29 12 feet 3 in.

17:31 And if he touches it, he's gonna set a new one.

17:34 This does not seem humanly possible.

17:36 World record.

17:37 Can he do it?

17:39 My god.

17:43 Wa.

17:44 He crushed it.

17:45 YO, THAT WAS CRAZY.

17:47 YOU JUST SET THE GUINNESS WORLD RECORD.

17:49 AH, I FEEL LIKE I can go higher.

17:51 Oh my gosh.

17:52 This guy, you just jumped higher than any human on the planet.

17:55 AND THE FIRST THING HE says is, "I could go higher." What a freaking maniac.

18:01 You're levitating.

18:03 I'm not going to lie.

18:04 You literally look like a superhero there.

18:07 That is insane.

18:10 Floating.

18:09 Your knee is the same height as my head.

18:12 Congratulations.

18:13 You have officially beaten your previous world record with a new world record.

18:18 And I'm sure you'll probably beat it again.

18:20 Let's go to the next challenge.

18:21 If there's one thing I've learned from Jimmy during our 45day

18:24 shoot together is that he obsesses over every single detail.

18:27 And that includes his domain name, Mr.

18:29 Beast.store, and he's not alone.

18:31 From speed.store to dudeperfect.store to our own created.store.

18:35 So many creators trust.store domains, who is today's sponsor.

18:39 So if you're a creator selling online or even planning to, don't

18:42 go with a lengthy.com link that nobody could type or remember.

18:45 Go with.store so it's easy to remember

18:47 and people can trust that it's your official store.

18:50 Plus, a website with a dots store domain drives 2x

18:53 higher visibility because the word store is in the link.

18:56 So, if you're a creator selling merch or anything digital or physical,

19:00 use my link below to get a special deal to get yours store

19:03 domain for only $1 for the first year before somebody else grabs it.

19:07 Thanks again to our friends at dotstore domains for sponsoring this video.

19:10 And now, back to it.

19:11 I'm doing 12, 15 sometimes.

19:13 I mean, some of those days are 18,

19:14 20our days on Beast Games and then I'm turning around and having to go

19:18 shoot main channel content just to go back to the Beast Games grind.

19:21 I mean, that was that was a lot, man.

19:23 All right, we'll see you on set.

19:24 The limo is outside right now.

19:26 The the jet is ready.

19:28 We're about to go to the island.

19:30 Raise the wall.

19:33 Eyes are on him the whole time.

19:34 Eyes are on me.

19:35 So, I'm going to back up because I don't want to get hit by the cannon.

19:37 Thumbs up if everybody understands that.

19:40 Jubmy's going to say somewhere in the city is 10 cannonballs.

19:42 I hit 10 cannonballs all around the city.

19:46 First 10 people to find a cannonball.

19:48 Shoot this cannon goes to the island.

19:50 We're going to DECIDE WHO'S COMPETING

19:51 FOR A $1.8 million island right here, right now.

19:56 Go.

20:04 All right, we got our first fighter.

20:06 Johnny, try to get her shooting it ASAP so they hear it.

20:09 She's about to fire the first cannon.

20:13 Our drone team and the drone footage we have,

20:15 at least for me, is one of the favorite parts of the show.

20:19 It's the coolest looking stuff on television.

20:21 What shot are you trying to get right now?

20:23 One of them is going to be hovering right in front of the cannons,

20:25 master wide, and hopefully the cannonballs go right under.

20:28 And then we got FPV going all in.

20:30 Okay, so we got somebody coming up with the cannonball now.

20:32 So try to give him a little low tracking shot as he heads out.

20:35 All up there is a drone racing league world champion.

20:38 What I'm going to try to do is fly past the cannon as it fires.

20:44 That was sick.

20:45 Thank you.

20:46 You guys have been flying these drones all show long.

20:48 How much do these things cost?

20:50 You can buy kind of what you see here for about 18 grand.

20:53 Wow.

20:53 But by the time you get everything you need

20:55 to actually do an entire show's worth of production,

20:57 you're probably looking at more like 25ish per drone.

21:00 Yeah.

21:00 Round up 30.

21:01 30.

21:01 30 all day.

21:02 They're not cheap.

21:03 And for something that is not cheap, we put them in some precarious places.

21:06 Like what?

21:07 cannonball.

21:09 YOU'RE THE SECOND PERSON GOING TO THE ISLAND.

21:11 WHENEVER YOU'RE READY.

21:13 All right, taking off with the Mavic.

21:14 He's going to shoot it.

21:16 That was crazy.

21:17 There are six left and we've been looking for a hot minute.

21:20 The contestants are racing around the city.

21:22 We got our headphones on just to block the noise

21:24 from the explosions of the cannon cuz it is loud.

21:28 They got the safety measures in place.

21:30 They got the pyrochnics, the explosions, the lighting.

21:33 It is unbelievable.

21:35 Heck yeah.

21:38 When the last cannonball runs over there, I need everyone to be like,

21:42 "Yeah." And then Jimmy's going to trigger the big bomb.

21:45 I think we have one more person who just found a cannonball.

21:52 Go, go, go, go, GO.

21:57 CUE THE FIREWORKS SHOW.

21:59 HERE comes the biggest explosion yet.

22:16 Wow.

22:22 All right, the fireworks are over and now that the fire

22:25 department is here on site making sure all the flames,

22:27 all the smoke, everything is safe.

22:30 So, this is not of an occurrence with our gear.

22:33 Take a bullet hole.

22:34 Oh, I can see the lens, dude.

22:37 Wow.

22:38 This is where we keep all our camera bodies

22:40 and 90% of what we have right now is everyone shoots.

22:43 Yeah.

22:44 Oh my god, look at all these GoPros.

22:45 How much money do you think all the gear here it's worth?

22:48 If I had to put a number on it, it's definitely north 5 million.

22:51 I mean, we have, you know,

22:52 thousands and thousands of individual serialized items that we keep track of.

22:57 This is our new workhorse, the X-T26.

23:00 It's a 2600 watt fixture.

23:03 And um this is for the outdoor shoots.

23:05 You look like a Ghostbuster.

23:07 Exactly.

23:07 Yeah.

23:07 Everything's thing's crazy.

23:11 These FPV drones.

23:13 These are flying cars.

23:14 Oh, yeah.

23:16 What the hell?

23:17 This is like my childhood and adulthood merch.

23:19 Oh, for sure.

23:20 Look at this.

23:20 Look at the GoPro in the front.

23:22 The drone propellers.

23:24 So, so this thing will like drive into a shot and then fly.

23:28 They want to have every angle covered so that they can pull from any moment that

23:31 So, it's truly unscripted.

23:32 Oh, absolutely.

23:33 I mean, I've been geeking out like all day, but this is something else.

23:36 We try to take a lot of the the core foundation of Mr.

23:39 Beast, giving away money, giving away private islands,

23:41 and a lot of the games challenges burying alive.

23:44 Weirdly, I've done that three times now.

23:46 Guards, bury them alive.

23:49 Nine contestants are being buried alive.

23:51 Oh my god.

23:52 Oh,

23:53 how are you thinking about this from a filming perspective?

23:56 It's all about their confessionals to the camera when they're in there.

23:59 So, obviously, we have one just straight down.

24:01 I am really out here getting buried right now.

24:04 And they're filling this up quick.

24:06 And we've got two on either side.

24:07 So, if like they're laying on one side

24:09 or the other and then these coffins are so large,

24:11 you're essentially able to sit up within the coffin.

24:14 So, we put one at their feet.

24:15 Oh my god.

24:16 That's what we've learned, especially after seeing Jimmy in one for 7 days.

24:19 which is like camera placement within this confined space.

24:22 It's going to sound crazy, but if you're going to bury somebody alive,

24:25 you want the beast team to do it.

24:27 Can I bury myself in the coffin?

24:28 You can.

24:30 Really?

24:33 Absolutely.

24:33 Wa.

24:33 It's been nice knowing you.

24:38 Wa.

24:38 Scary, right?

24:38 All right, that's a wrap, everybody.

24:42 That is terrifying.

24:43 Like, how did you prepare for this when you did this for your YouTube videos?

24:46 Truthfully, the first time I I plotted cop and I put it in my garage.

24:49 It was my old house and uh I would just lay

24:51 in it for a few hours every night just to adjust

24:53 to being in it cuz I wanted to know if I

24:55 was going to have a panic attack before we started the video.

24:57 There's 20,000 lbs of dirt on me and if the coffin broke I was dead,

25:02 bro.

25:02 My back was hurting and you can get blood clots, but people found it enjoyable.

25:06 Look at the views on it.

25:07 Would you ever bury yourself alive for more than 7 days?

25:10 At one point we were thinking about doing a month,

25:12 but I say I got so much stuff going on now.

25:14 I'm good.

25:14 John hits the hardest questions as like

25:17 my awareness and like brain cells are plummeting.

25:20 John's like, "All right, time to dig deep." Your childhood,

25:23 your mother, what was that relationship like?

25:25 That's his job.

25:26 That's why I told him to hang around.

25:27 That's right.

25:28 That's what no one else will.

25:29 Most people would be too afraid.

25:30 What does it take to be Jimmy's main camop?

25:33 You have to be able to predict what he wants before he wants it.

25:38 Yeah.

25:37 He just wants to be talent.

25:38 Doesn't want to do it.

25:39 Wait, Darius, do you want to be in front of the camera?

25:41 Yeah, he does.

25:42 He's He's feing to throw the camera down.

25:45 Wow.

25:45 So, you're going to have Darius in main

25:47 channel YouTube video in front of the camera.

25:48 There's a lot of folks at Beast have worn many different hands.

25:50 I mean, Carl was behind the camera like Tariq like has our pipeline

25:54 to talent is you just hold the camera until everyone kind of likes you.

25:58 You're already thinking about how to like

26:00 rotate more of them.

26:01 It's not like I don't like these guys.

26:02 It's just so you know,

26:04 like right after we finish this, it's 30 days of non-stop main channel filming.

26:07 Like these guys are going to be dying.

26:09 You know what I mean?

26:10 Yeah.

26:10 So,

26:10 do you think you'll continue like on that pace?

26:12 Like,

26:13 yeah, cuz it's my company, but it's different, you know?

26:15 You even when you have a family and kids?

26:16 Oh, like 20 years.

26:17 I don't know.

26:18 I just know what I'm doing in the next

26:19 24 hours and it's eating and filmed before.

26:24 This is what I'm talking about.

26:25 See how Carl's just yelling random things in a circle.

26:31 I'm looking like Steve.

26:35 Oh, so am I.

26:37 We are the dogs.

26:39 John, who looks more like Steve Urkel.

26:42 I'm about to get cancelled.

26:45 Maybe Darius by a little

26:48 cuz I did 24 hours in a desert, 24 hours in a jungle, 24 hours underwater.

26:52 I have 24 hours solitary environment.

26:53 Buried alive was just a natural evolution, you know.

26:55 Did you ever think you'd die when you were doing your YouTube videos?

26:57 And

26:58 no, cuz we have safety teams and stuff and I have faith.

27:00 I mean, that's why we have Johnny.

27:02 If there was a catastrophic emergency up here, they'd be safer down there.

27:06 Johnny's a stunt double here.

27:07 This is our safety.

27:08 All right, you do it.

27:08 We'll push you in.

27:10 This guy was Zach Efron on stuff.

27:11 The things that you did during your breaks where you invited other creators on.

27:16 That was a lot.

27:17 That's what makes it so hard because I wasn't just doing Beast Cams.

27:20 I also doing the marketing for Beast Cams and I

27:21 was doing social posts and stuff for after the show drops.

27:24 And so those were man, those were jam-packed days.

27:26 It was a lot of creators we filmed with and I'm so grateful for them.

27:30 John, what's up, baby?

27:33 You're taking my life.

27:34 I love this guy.

27:35 I love this guy, man.

27:36 I love this guy.

27:37 When you got this out here, you know you made it.

27:39 Dude, I said get that out of my shot.

27:42 That That's Sean's boom mic.

27:43 That's not me, bro.

27:44 You can't stand on there when you're 6'5,

27:45 but you make me look like I'm Key, bro.

27:48 Come on.

27:51 Stand there, man.

27:52 They're great equalizer.

27:53 There we go.

27:54 This is my two worlds colliding right here.

27:56 I want to be here without you.

27:57 Wait, what's the most viewed video on John's channel, though?

28:00 Wait, I haven't beat him yet.

28:02 I think Danny has 3.5 and Jimmy.

28:04 Number one most viewed videos on his channel is me.

28:06 Let's get it.

28:06 I'm in second,

28:07 bro.

28:07 You have 400 million subscribers.

28:09 I'll probably gain 8 million in the next 3 years.

28:13 This is Mr.

28:13 Beast, the biggest YouTuber in the world.

28:15 So, behind me, Jimmy is doing another collab with a creator.

28:18 It's his ninth one tonight as he kind

28:20 of speedruns through each of these creator collabs.

28:22 Is that Brent Rivera?

28:25 Yeah.

28:24 And it's been orchestrated by San,

28:26 the head of marketing for Beast Games to help promote the show.

28:29 How many Tik Toks would you say you've shot so far throughout the show?

28:33 47.

28:34 48.

28:34 Wow.

28:35 And how hard is it to get like time?

28:39 You said that before I finished.

28:41 Very hard.

28:41 Yeah, we put creators in different areas of the set during Jimmy's break.

28:44 So you can do the collabs back to back to back without losing any time.

28:48 Eric came down, Graham Stefen, Matthew Beam and his secret room, Haley Bailey.

28:53 Because we're building such large massive sets in Beast Games,

28:56 it's just a perfect breeding ground to film social content.

28:59 Lethal Shooter taught me everything he knows.

29:01 Can you guess what shot went in?

29:02 Before we shoot with Jimmy,

29:04 we do it with a stand in to make sure that the camera angles,

29:06 the sound, and the lights are perfect.

29:08 So, we can get it in one tape without wasting a stud.

29:11 Can you guess who makes this shot?

29:12 Three, two, one.

29:16 Those 40 collabs would not have been

29:17 possible without our head of marketing, son.

29:19 He crushed it.

29:20 We're coming up with better ideas for Danny's channel.

29:22 We're coming up with bangers.

29:25 We want one.

29:25 And he's like, "Finally, a break.

29:28 Finally a break.

29:29 His eyes have been shut for like 30 seconds.

29:31 He's like taking a nap.

29:33 You have an extremely busy schedule.

29:34 So, oh yeah, I'm going to go back to filming beast games.

29:36 I won't forget to post the Instagram story.

29:38 Go check it out.

29:39 YouTubers collaborate.

29:40 That's a normal thing.

29:42 And the idea that television doesn't do it.

29:45 Um, see, it just doesn't make sense to me.

29:47 There's a lot of things that get in the way with that.

29:48 A lot of networks and a lot of problems,

29:50 but there's no reason not to figure it out.

29:52 And so, we did.

29:53 We We went straight to the source.

29:55 We went to drive.

29:56 Getting excited.

29:57 I get to meet the players.

29:59 CG press, go ahead and roll.

30:07 Rolling

30:06 action, Jeff.

30:09 Oh, that's sick.

30:13 Welcome.

30:13 Come join me.

30:16 Jeff.

30:15 Yes, it is.

30:18 For survivors specifically,

30:19 there's a 100,000 reasons why we should collaborate with them.

30:23 We give away islands.

30:24 I BOUGHT THIS GINORMOUS PRIVATE ISLAND AND I'M GIVING IT TO ONE OF YOU.

30:27 There's a whole island video where we

30:28 do votes like tribal even strength and smart.

30:32 Strong versus smart

30:33 came from brains and brawn.

30:35 We're doing three tribes this year.

30:37 Beauty, brains, and bra.

30:39 Everyone in our company has seen some form of Survivor episodes.

30:42 You watch Survivor every week.

30:45 I know.

30:45 Literally, Jeff Propes is the godfather of challenge television.

30:48 Jimmy, is it wild that Jeff's first season

30:50 of Survivor was when he was 27 years old?

30:53 You're 27 years old right now.

30:57 Really?

30:56 Yeah.

30:56 Dang.

30:57 Jeff's been doing Survivor as long as I've been alive.

31:00 Every second I've brewed air dare is the second he spent making this show.

31:04 What's up?

31:04 You're finally here.

31:07 Nice to finally meet.

31:08 Thanks for coming out here.

31:09 Yeah.

31:09 Thank you.

31:10 Beast Games.

31:11 Welcome to Survivor.

31:12 Welcome to Beast.

31:14 Hey everybody.

31:15 We got Beast Games team here.

31:17 How's it going?

31:18 Nice to meet you all.

31:20 Survivor has really perfected storytelling.

31:22 It's literally what started all of this, right?

31:24 I mean, we we kind of have Survivor to thank for that.

31:27 You have Jeff in Survivor and like one of the greatest TV franchises ever.

31:33 And now you have Jimmy in Beast Games

31:36 in the biggest probably most watched competition show ever.

31:40 And it was like you and Kareem met Magic for the first time.

31:45 But it was the two giants of their respective

31:47 worlds like coming together in that moment.

31:50 We've revamped it all into your color scheme with your logos and your banners.

31:55 We think it works pretty well,

31:56 but the idea is we run it and then you and your team tweak it as you want.

32:00 Hey Carl, hop up there.

32:01 I don't even know where to go from here.

32:03 To me, this is the highest point we'll ever see, I think.

32:06 Oh yeah, dude.

32:07 I'm here for life.

32:10 For the first phase, you go through here.

32:12 You got coconuts.

32:13 You got to stand on this platform.

32:15 Take one coconut at a time.

32:17 We brought 10 people.

32:18 We left our entire crew and we basically asked them,

32:22 "Can we use your whole crew?" As amazing as our crew is at filming Beast Games,

32:26 our crew wouldn't film Survivor the way Survivors crew would.

32:29 That was their off day.

32:30 They work 6 days a week.

32:32 That off day they used for us just to help our show.

32:36 I'm letting Jeff take over this episode.

32:38 I'm following his lead.

32:38 It'll be fun.

32:39 I don't know how they do it on Beast Games.

32:40 On Survivor, we move quickly.

32:42 We've never done anything like this.

32:44 We're super insulated.

32:46 You know, you could say protective of our show.

32:49 We really don't typically even have people visiting,

32:51 but the only people we would have here would be these games.

32:55 I don't want to conform Jeff to our style.

32:56 I want to conform myself to his style cuz I mean, it's 50 seasons.

33:00 Clearly, people like it

33:02 when we went to Survivor Island.

33:04 That's something that Shawn kind of put into effect.

33:07 Jeff, can I show you this picture

33:08 that Sean Ker shared of your first meeting together?

33:11 Yeah, it's at our guest house.

33:12 Do you remember how that came together and like what role Lorie played in that?

33:16 like how did that all work?

33:17 We're here because of her.

33:18 I had an opportunity to go visit Fiji.

33:20 We just happened to be seated next to each other on the plane

33:23 ride to Fiji and immediately hit it off and got to talking.

33:27 I literally asked Lori Delici on the airplane over to Fiji,

33:31 who's Jeff's right hand, you know, with all things PR.

33:34 And I just said, "Hey,

33:35 we should do something together." And she goes, "Huh?" She goes,

33:38 "What does that look like?" I was like,

33:41 "Well, what if we did something as a collab?"

33:44 I texted Jeff right from the plane.

33:45 you know, we got to talk as soon as I land.

33:47 She looked up, she goes, I just texted Jeff.

33:49 I was like, like Jeff Jeff propes.

33:52 Then all of a sudden, it goes ding.

33:54 And she looks down.

33:54 She goes, he's really into it.

33:57 We just kept talking.

33:58 Lory's like, "We should do something with them.

34:00 They are cool.

34:01 They're like us."

34:02 We meet with Jeff.

34:03 We spend about 2 hours with him.

34:05 And I took out my camera and I took a picture and he goes,

34:08 "Uh, let's change television."

34:10 Okay, we officially have our two team captains.

34:14 I'm dreaming.

34:15 This is This is crazy.

34:16 We're all rolling.

34:18 All right, over to Jeff.

34:19 Go.

34:20 All right, they're on.

34:21 First down of the game.

34:22 THAT'S HOW YOU DO IT ON SURVIVOR.

34:25 Pink is falling incredibly behind.

34:26 Is this it?

34:29 It was interesting to see the Survivor team that has a formula down

34:34 to a science of how they produce TV to have the circus come into town.

34:39 As similar as Jeff and Jamie are in their content,

34:42 they're totally different in their approach.

34:44 It's fun to watch Jimmy sort of go wherever he wants.

34:47 He doesn't care that his hat covers his face.

34:49 He didn't carry his back to camera.

34:50 I literally was looking at Jimmy going, "This guy's the king." Clearly genius.

34:55 That was exactly what he's doing.

34:58 There's kids on the set.

34:58 He's like, "Oh, come in.

34:59 Come in.

34:59 I'll say hi to the kids." And you know,

35:02 Jeff Probes took a moment and was like, "How this what you do on your show?

35:06 Like people can come and go." I was like,

35:07 Jimmy's like, "Yeah, like this is what we do."

35:09 They've taken this genre and just steroided it.

35:14 Everything's bigger.

35:15 The bribes are not a hamburger.

35:20 Three, two, one, go.

35:23 All right, lads out.

35:24 Remember, if your feet hit that sand,

35:26 your chances of winning the island is over.

35:29 Tyler, this could get interesting quickly.

35:31 Jimmy, he is jamming his face.

35:33 Yeah, that does not look leverage.

35:35 Jeff is coming in with a little bit where he's giving away a burger,

35:40 which is a big deal on Survivor.

35:42 Ethan, this is a fresh burger made in our Survivor kitchen.

35:46 Ian Ian said no.

35:47 Give it to the losers so they feel a little better.

35:49 And then Jimmy's going to come in with his big twist.

35:52 CARL, BRING IT ON IN.

35:53 I'M CURIOUS.

35:54 WILL ANY OF YOU take my $50,000 bribe?

35:57 50g, baby.

35:58 Stay up, bro.

36:00 Let's have families.

36:00 You're not going to beat us on tribal.

36:02 Ethan, you're good.

36:03 Six.

36:04 You take it.

36:04 Five.

36:06 Ethan, don't do it.

36:06 Take it, Ethan.

36:07 I'm going to take it.

36:08 What?

36:08 Slide down.

36:09 No.

36:10 Ethan.

36:10 Ethan.

36:10 Yeah, you're good.

36:11 You're good.

36:11 If you slide down now, I'll allow it.

36:14 Wait.

36:14 Ethan is really taking it.

36:15 Okay.

36:18 Wow.

36:18 Wait.

36:19 Ethan, you can slide OUT.

36:20 WHAT?

36:20 EAN WAS ABOUT TO GIVE IN, TOO.

36:23 Just seeing like bribes with that much money or the fact

36:26 that Jimmy has given over $24 million in one season.

36:30 You've given over 50 million over 50 seasons.

36:33 Does that make you think about the prize money

36:35 you want to give away on Survivor moving forward?

36:37 No.

36:38 Because we're This is the fundamental difference

36:40 of the two social experiments in my opinion.

36:44 Beast Games is about what would you do for money?

36:47 Survivor is who are you when stripped of everything.

36:50 So, our show the the money is the carrot,

36:54 but the experience and the adventure of being tested with

36:58 while you're living in nature with no food and no sleep and all.

37:01 That's what the show is about.

37:02 Your experiment is very different.

37:03 You just saw it play out.

37:05 Ethan was, as Jimmy just said,

37:07 seconds away from probably the island because he's saying, "JC, get the votes."

37:12 You can't get the votes.

37:13 But the minute Jimmy said, "This is guaranteed." Ethan said,

37:16 "I'm taking the guarantee." I thought that was that little moment, I'd say,

37:20 "That's what Beast Games is all about right there." Even now,

37:23 people say, "When are you going to be done?" I don't know.

37:27 You know, I love pointing to you as an example cuz I say the same thing.

37:30 Like I've been doing YouTube for 15

37:31 years and everyone's like well eventually you're

37:33 going to get too old cuz I've been doing it since I was 12.

37:35 And I'm like I mean Jeff's in his 60s now.

37:38 He's still going.

37:39 Like why do I why do I have to stop before I turn 30?

37:42 What do you mean?

37:42 You know they're like so when you're

37:44 40 years old you'll be making YouTube videos.

37:45 And I'm like yeah why not?

37:47 Your storytelling is up here and you leave knowing the characters

37:49 and I would say season one we're down here and in season

37:52 two I'm trying to like bring it up to here where

37:54 you like feel like you really know a lot of the contestants.

37:56 That's cool.

37:57 That's a nice compliment.

37:58 And you bring spectacle in a way that really blows up an idea, which is cool.

38:02 The question is, who's going to be doing this longer, me or Jeff?

38:05 I'll let you guys decide that.

38:06 I got another 20, 30 years in the tank.

38:08 Does he?

38:10 Damn.

38:10 See, now that's unfair.

38:12 Yeah.

38:12 Who's going to quit first?

38:14 He's in his 60s.

38:14 He's so old.

38:17 This is how I think Jimmy sees me.

38:20 No, I see a little more bent over.

38:22 Yeah, sorry.

38:22 That was a little too healthy.

38:24 Just kidding.

38:24 A set is not complete until they shoot social media content.

38:27 And that's what we've learned from Timmy throughout all of this.

38:29 You know, they're about to film a few Instagram photos,

38:31 a few Tik Toks and reals.

38:32 And I wouldn't be surprised if after

38:33 this, Survivor starts doing even more social microphone.

38:37 Thanks, J.

38:38 There you go.

38:39 And I wouldn't be surprised if after this, Survivor starts making

38:42 even more social content cuz they got these amazing set pieces.

38:46 My ball gets in the target before yours.

38:49 Will you go on your YouTube channel and say

38:51 Survivor is the greatest show and everybody should watch it?

38:53 Yes, I will 100% promote it, but you're not winning, so it is what it is.

38:56 They literally went, "Hey, welcome to our family.

38:58 Like, come on in.

38:59 Let's try something new.

39:00 Let's do something.

39:01 Let's not say no was our rule.

39:04 Let's just not say no." And what came out of it

39:06 was I don't want to say it could change the industry,

39:09 but it should open the industry's eyes up

39:10 to how collaboration should happen more in the industry.

39:15 It's what the next generation wants to see.

39:17 You guys have no idea how epic this is going to be.

39:20 People are going to love it.

39:21 And I I am very grateful for you guys.

39:22 There is so much that we have been

39:25 able to learn throughout the experience of traditional television.

39:29 But the one thing that we really really have

39:32 is that YouTube get it done whatever it takes mentality.

39:38 And I think we figured out I think we

39:43 figured out what people want to watch on television.

39:49 This is my how to succeed and Mr.

39:51 beast production.

39:53 I remember when this leaked.

39:54 I've met so many people who said their boss made them read this.

39:57 I'm just going to read from it.

39:59 It is 11:35 at night.

40:00 Jimmy is filming a Lunchly commercial.

40:03 Let's do one more.

40:03 This is where the expansion's being done.

40:05 Here we solve crazy problems.

40:06 That's how you pull off the impossible.

40:07 We have a phone.

40:08 It says, "Ask for anything." How do you produce something like that?

40:12 The requests are coming in one by one by one.

40:13 Send in the serpent.

40:14 A masseuse tattoo artist.

40:16 Psychic drivers all over the city.

40:18 Private jets waiting on standby.

40:20 I am getting slammed.

40:22 Could you connect me with Elon Musk?

40:24 I DM'd Elon and then the next day Elon replied with
