0:11 in a kingdom very far away there lived a king and a queen.

0:16 The king was handsome and kind Everybody loved him.

0:20 But the real ruler of the kingdom was his wife...

0:26 Before she became queen, she worked in the castle kitchen.

0:30 She was very poor.

0:32 But she was also very beautiful, and funny, and very good at Scrabble.

0:38 So the king fell in love with her, and married her.

0:43 The king loved the queen very much.

0:46 But the queen was always afraid that the king would meet someone more beautiful.

0:53 Luckily, the queen had a magic mirror.

0:56 The mirror saw everything and knew everything.

1:00 Every day the queen looked at herself in the mirror,

1:04 and asked: “Magic mirror on the wall,

1:06 who is the most beautiful of all?” And the mirror replied: You are, my Queen!

1:12 You are the most beautiful woman in the whole world.” The queen was happy.

1:18 She knew there was nobody in the world as beautiful as her.

1:23 But one day everything changed.

1:26 The queen stood in front of the mirror and asked her usual question.

1:31 “Magic mirror on the wall,

1:33 who is the most beautiful of all?” And the mirror replied:

1:38 “You are very beautiful, my Queen.

1:41 But the most beautiful woman in the world is…...

1:44 Snow White.” The queen was shocked.

1:48 “Who is this Snow White?” she asked the mirror.

1:52 “Snow White works in the castle kitchen.

1:54 She has hair as black as night, lips as red as roses, and skin as white as snow.

2:00 As of… 8am this morning,

2:04 she is a wee-bitty-bit more beautiful than you.” “ARRRGGHH!!” yelled the queen.

2:12 She stomped her feet.

2:14 She pulled her hair.

2:16 Then she sat down and sobbed.

2:19 “I will lose everything!” The queen was afraid,

2:23 and that fear turned her heart cold and hard.

2:28 She called a trusted hunter to her room.

2:31 “Find the girl, Snow White,” she ordered.

2:36 “Take her far, far away.

2:39 Take her deep into the woods.” And then

2:42 the queen looked deep into the hunter’s eyes.

2:45 “She must never come back.” The hunter found Snow White,

2:51 and took her into the forest.

2:54 When they reached the deepest, darkest part of the forest, the hunter stopped.

2:59 “Go!” he whispered.

3:02 “Run fast and far and don't ever

3:04 go home!” Snow White watched the hunter disappear.

3:09 “Well, I can’t go home now,” she muttered.

3:13 She looked around at the dark and silent forest.

3:16 It started to rain.

3:18 “But I can’t stay here either.

3:20 Ok feet, let’s go.” Snow White ran and ran.

3:26 She ran across a stream, up a hill, and down into a dark valley.

3:31 She ran all morning.

3:34 By midday her pale skin and rosy cheeks were covered in mud and scratches.

3:40 By early afternoon her long black hair was full of sticks and leaves.

3:46 By night, she was not beautiful anymore.

3:49 She was tired, hungry, and shivering with cold.

3:53 But then Snow White smelled woodsmoke in the air.

3:58 She followed the smell and found a cottage in the woods.

4:03 There was a warm, golden glow from the windows.

4:07 She knocked on the door.

4:09 “Hello?” She called out.

4:11 “Is anyone home?” There was no answer.

4:16 She pushed the door open and went inside.

4:20 Inside the cottage were seven tiny beds, seven tiny chairs, and a roaring fire.

4:27 A big table was covered with dirty dishes.

4:31 Snow White was very hungry and thirsty.

4:35 She found some bread, and ate the whole loaf.

4:38 She found some milk, and drank the whole bottle.

4:42 Then she sat in front of the fire to get warm.

4:45 And just like that, she fell asleep.

4:50 When she woke up, there were seven dwarfs standing around her.

4:55 Snow White rubbed her eyes.

4:57 “Who are you?” she said.

5:01 “This is OUR house!” said one dwarf, angrily.

5:05 “Who are YOU?” “Shhh, you'll scare her!” said another.

5:12 “She’s a giant.

5:14 SHE scares ME!” said yet another.

5:18 “Can I stay with you?" asked Snow White.

5:21 "It seems I can't go home." The dwarfs whispered amongst themselves.

5:27 “Ok,” they agreed.

5:30 “But only if you help us wash the dishes.

5:32 We hate washing dishes!” “It’s a deal,” said Snow White.

5:40 And so, Snow White found a new home with the seven dwarfs.

5:45 Every morning she washed the dishes.

5:47 And every morning, as the dwarfs left for work, they said “Be careful.

5:52 Don’t open the door for anyone...

5:55 And thank you for washing the dishes.

5:57 We really hate washing dishes.” Back at the castle,

6:03 the queen was feeling better.

6:05 She thought Snow White was gone forever.

6:07 But she was still a little afraid.

6:10 “Come and play Scrabble with me,

6:12 my love!” shouted the King from the bottom of the stairs.

6:16 “You can go first!” “Maybe later, dearest,” replied the queen.

6:23 She stood in front of her magic mirror.

6:26 “Magic mirror on the wall,

6:28 who is the most beautiful of all?” The mirror replied:

6:32 “You are very beautiful, my Queen.

6:36 But the girl Snow White is the most beautiful woman

6:40 in the world.” “Snow White is ALIVE??” shouted the queen.

6:46 “She is living with the seven dwarfs in the forest,” said the mirror.

6:50 “Last night, she was not very beautiful.

6:53 But as of… 1pm today,

6:56 she is more beautiful than you.” “RATS!” shouted the queen.

7:02 She went to her closet and got her old coat and old boots.

7:07 “I’ll have to kill her myself!” She ran out of the palace,

7:12 jumped into her fastest carriage, and sped off towards the forest.

7:18 Snow White was reading beside the fire when there was a knock on the door.

7:23 KNOCK!

7:24 KNOCK!

7:26 She peeked through the window.

7:28 There was a woman holding a basket of fruit.

7:32 The woman had a beautiful face, but she was wearing an old dress and old boots.

7:38 “FRUIT!

7:39 FRESH FRUIT!

7:40 APPLES AND BANANAS AND PEARS AND ORANGES!” “Oh,

7:45 I want some fruit…” thought Snow White.

7:48 The woman saw Snow White through the window.

7:51 “Hello dear!” said the woman.

7:54 “Do you want some fruit?

7:56 I have delicious apples today...” “I love apples…” said Snow White.

8:02 “But I'm not supposed to open the door

8:04 for anyone…… those apples might be poisoned.” “Oh, how silly,” said the woman.

8:11 She cut an apple in half.

8:14 “Here.

8:14 You can taste half, and I will eat the other half.

8:19 That way you know it’s NOT poisoned.” Snow White opened the door.

8:27 The woman gave one half of the apple to Snow White, and ate the other half.

8:33 When Snow White saw the woman eating the juicy apple, her mouth watered.

8:38 She couldn’t stop herself.

8:41 She took a big bite of the apple.

8:44 Almost immediately, Snow White fell to the ground.

8:48 The apple was poisoned, but only on one half!

8:52 The queen sighed with relief.

8:55 Quickly, she got back into her carriage and rode back to the castle.

9:00 When the dwarfs arrived home, they found Snow White lying on the floor.

9:05 They yelled in her ears.

9:07 They tickled her feet.

9:09 They poured cold water on her face.

9:12 But she didn't wake up.

9:15 “Is she...

9:16 dead?” asked one dwarf.

9:19 “She doesn’t seem to be alive…” said a second.

9:25 And so the dwarfs made a glass coffin for their beloved friend.

9:30 They set it on a table in a beautiful part of the forest, surrounded by flowers.

9:36 Snow White lay there for over a year:

9:39 Through spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

9:44 One day, a prince from a different kingdom

9:47 was walking through the forest with his dog.

9:50 He saw Snow White’s strange glass coffin.

9:53 He brushed off the leaves and saw Snow White inside.

9:58 Just then, he tripped over his dog and knocked the coffin off the table!

10:02 Snow White rolled out of the coffin and onto the grass.

10:06 “Oh no!

10:07 Oh dear!

10:08 Oh...

10:09 fffffffiddlesticks!" the prince shouted.

10:12 But then an amazing thing happened:

10:15 The piece of poisoned apple that was stuck in Snow White’s throat fell out,

10:19 and she began to cough.

10:21 The prince rushed to help her.

10:24 “Apples…” she coughed.

10:27 “I beg your pardon?” said the prince.

10:30 “No..

10:32 more..

10:34 apples!” That night,

10:38 the queen stood in front of the magic mirror and asked her question.

10:43 “Magic mirror on the wall,

10:45 who is the most beautiful of all?” And to her surprise,

10:50 the mirror said: “You are very beautiful, my Queen.

10:56 But...

10:57 Snow White is again the most beautiful

11:00 woman in the world.” “WHAAAAAAT?????” screamed the queen.

11:06 And in her anger, she picked up a shoe and threw it at the mirror.

11:11 The mirror smashed into a thousand pieces, and the magic inside it was released.

11:17 “NOOOOOOOOOO!” screamed the queen.

11:21 She collapsed on the floor and fell into a deep sleep.

11:27 While she slept, the queen had a strange dream.

11:32 In her dream, she was dancing in hot iron shoes.

11:36 Her feet burned and burned but she couldn’t stop dancing.

11:43 When the Queen woke up from this terrible dream, it was morning.

11:48 The sun was shining, and the Queen felt...

11:51 ...different.

11:53 The magic mirror's spell was broken,

11:55 so she didn't feel anxious or jealous anymore.

11:59 She felt free.

12:03 She went downstairs to find her husband.

12:06 She really wanted to play Scrabble.

12:09 And what happened to Snow White?

12:12 The dwarfs were very happy to see Snow White alive.

12:16 They invited the prince for dinner.

12:18 When the prince learned that nobody liked washing dishes,

12:22 he bought them a dishwasher.

12:25 Everybody lived happily ever after.
