Behind the scenes of Met Gala glam

0:27 He did the honors opening the Met Gala on Monday night.

0:31 It is of course the world's greatest well what they call the biggest night

0:35 in fashion with the greatest designers and they

0:36 did not disappoint on fashion's biggest night.

0:39 The eye-popping event benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Arts

0:42 Costume Institute and it draws the biggest names in music,

0:46 film, art and of course fashion.

0:48 And they all took things to the next level.

0:51 This morning we're going to give you a behind-the-scenes

0:53 look at what it's like to cover the Met Gala.

1:03 The biggest night in fashion for me started at 10:00 a.m.

1:06 with research [music] and help choosing emojis

1:09 for props that would help get celebrities talking.

1:12 I like the cheeky smile.

1:14 I like the heart eyes.

1:15 You need a flame.

1:16 You definitely need a flame cuz everyone A flame.

1:19 Then it was time to be touched by angels.

1:22 Makeup artist Raedawn Johnson [music] and hair stylist Giselle Modest.

1:26 Her dress is very inspired of like Bridgeton in my opinion from a modern take.

1:31 And so I just wanted to give her like very blushing blushing cheeks.

1:36 And my inspiration is the more hair the better it looks.

1:41 All of it.

1:42 [music] This is the first time I have ever had extensions too in my hair.

1:45 So this is like exciting.

1:47 I'm going to be so annoying just like whipping my hair everywhere.

1:55 [music] Hello Alicia.

1:56 Our emoji paddles arrived.

1:58 They came with gifts.

1:59 These are going to be our props on the red carpet.

2:05 And just like that, it was time to go.

2:10 And after a heartfelt send-off with [music]

2:15 we were on our way to the Metropolitan [music] Museum of Art,

2:19 where the fans were already out and security was tight.

2:23 We were sent to [music] a press holding room where I met our CBS team.

2:27 Here's the team.

2:28 Finally, it was time for our first peek at the carpet.

2:32 Do we think it's going to be cream based on this tent?

2:35 I hope so.

2:35 It'll match my suit.

2:37 It felt like stone steps to a secret garden.

2:39 Just ignore all the press packed in.

2:41 Okay, so this is the situation.

2:43 Yeah.

2:44 We're tied with our friends.

2:46 best friends very quickly.

2:49 Before we knew it, the gala was underway with celebrities like Anne Hathaway,

2:54 Nicole Kidman and her daughter, [music] and the queen herself,

2:57 Beyoncé, followed by a train of feathers.

3:05 [cheering] Beyoncé, ladies and gentlemen.

3:06 Which emoji represents how you feel right now?

3:13 So I feel like my booty look good.

3:21 Well, to be honest with you,

3:22 what I'm most excited about is exactly what's happening right now,

3:25 which is just this iconic walk in these stairs.

3:35 and I proved to myself that I could do it and even though I I fell,

3:49 And after a long exciting night that capped

3:51 off with Rihanna and ASAP Rocky's arrival.

3:54 It was time to head home, but not without a souvenir.

4:04 The feathers from Beyoncé's cape, uh ladies and gentlemen.

4:13 She was She was amazing.

4:14 Everyone, all the celebrities, we asked,

4:16 "Who are you excited to see?" Beyoncé, Beyoncé, Beyoncé.

4:18 It's amazing that she is also like that big celebrity even for them.

5:06 So, her dress, you know, the theme was like FASHION IS ART [gasps] HOW DARE YOU?

5:11 ALL OF HER her dress was um film strips from the 1954 film Sabrina.

5:20 It is art.

5:20 It's on theme, okay?

5:21 That is very cool.

5:22 Um I liked her look,

5:23 but I feel like we've always see her in that kind of like bodysuit situation.
