35:03 As the multitude of law enforcement teams continued to search the area for Mark,
35:08 investigators combed through surveillance video from where the initial 911
35:11 call took place and found no evidence of a kidnapping.

35:21 Meanwhile, back at the police station, the victim,
35:24 Janine Harmo, recounted her side of the story.
35:27 He was starting to take out the knife on me again and I
35:30 thought he was going to stab me and he stabbed the car.
35:33 Where did he stab the car?
35:34 He stabbed the car on um He went around he went around the car.
35:42 He went out the car and got around to my side.
35:44 He opened the door and he was like all tried to choke me.
35:47 He was choking me.
35:48 He was choking me and telling me that he was going to kill me.
35:52 And like when I and then like he moved off me and he got the knife.
35:57 I went to the driver's side and I went Oh yeah.
36:01 I went jumped over to the driver's side and he got
36:04 into the passenger side and then he that's when he tried to I
36:09 thought he was going to kill me at that point because he
36:12 he put the knife right into the door of the driver's side.

36:26 Investigators later found a previous incident in Sibola County 7 months
36:30 prior where Harmo drove a stolen blue car through a fence.
36:34 She escaped in a pursuit exceeding 100 mph
36:37 and was later questioned by officers at her home.
36:40 And he ran he ran the other way.

37:07 According to the New Mexico Department of Public Safety,
37:10 investigators learned that the Chevy Malibu was reported stolen 2 days prior,
37:14 and the key fob to the vehicle was found in the backseat
37:17 of the police vehicle she was placed in after the crash.
37:20 Data from the vehicle's computer showed only the driver's
37:23 seat was occupied at the time of the crash,
37:25 indicating there was never a second person in the vehicle.
37:28 DNA from the driver's side airbag also matched Harmo's DNA profile.
37:34 New Mexico State Police arrested Harammo on March 5th,
37:37 2022, and charged her with two counts of first-degree murder,
37:41 great bodily injury by vehicle, receiving a stolen vehicle,
37:45 aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer,
37:47 making a false report, and reckless driving.
37:50 Her case went to trial where she pleaded not guilty,
37:53 and on December 12th, 2024, the jury returned their verdict.
37:56 We find the defendant guilty of murder
38:00 in the first degree as charged in count two.
38:04 I'd like to say I'm sorry to me with all my heart.
38:10 If I could take back that day, I would.
38:15 But I made bad choices.
38:18 I was I was on drugs and I was drinking.
38:20 But I also have my family that I'm hurting.
38:24 Putting me away many years is not going to bring them back.
38:30 But I would never ever plan on hurting anybody,
38:36 [Music] much less killing anybody.
38:40 God knows what's in my heart.
38:45 [Music] Plenty of times he considered leaving and pursuing a different career,
38:50 but he always went back because of the days he was able
38:52 to help someone to save someone like he was trying to do Janine Hario.
38:58 I do not want any of the families
38:59 to be devastated by Miss Harmino's selfish and reckless behavior.
39:03 For that reason, I would ask you to consider the maximum sentence in this case.
39:07 Not out of place or anger and hate.
39:09 There's no room in my heart for those emotions.
39:12 I asked for the protection of others as that was
39:14 the driving force behind my husband's desire to become a police officer.
39:18 Haramio was sentenced to life in prison for each
39:21 count of first-degree murder for a total of 60 years.
39:24 She has appealed her convictions,
39:25 though in all likelihood she will spend the rest of her life behind bars.
