Jaylen Brown Went Live On Twitch Less Than 24 Hours After Celtics Playoff Loss...
The Pat McAfee Show
0:00 Danny, he's talking about Jaylen Brown going live on Twitch.
0:02 As a Celtics fan, I appreciate the access you
0:05 get and then at a certain time it's like,
0:07 "Hey, when you say your favorite season of basketball
0:10 was the season that you played without Jason Tatum,
0:12 that kind of rubs some fans the wrong way, myself included." Uh,
0:16 he did mention in there kind of talking about how,
0:19 you know, the NBA has a flopping problem like Joel Embiid flops.
0:22 he know he flops, but at the same time he also knows
0:26 it's going to help them win and you know basically help his team.
0:29 Um the same conversation goes on with SGA who we were just talking about
0:33 you know kind of knowing your spots and just knowing how the game is called.
0:37 What is kind of your entire take about the whole entire kind of flopping thing?
0:41 I know a couple years back they tried
0:43 to change it where kind of the landing zone where
0:46 if it wasn't an unnatural shooting motion uh
0:49 and you did that then it wasn't actually a foul.
0:51 that kind of seems to have dwindled
0:53 to the back and that is is getting called again.
0:56 Um, how do you think they fix it and can they fix it?
0:59 Uh, I think they can fix it.
1:00 Well, first I want to say I think Jaylen Brown had an unbelievable season
1:04 and I don't think he met meant his favorite season was without Jason Tatum.
1:08 I think it was as a collective they had a great season
1:10 as a group and adding him at the end of the year.
1:13 You said it twice, Danny.
1:14 It's his feelings.
1:16 He's allowed to feel how he feels.
1:18 So am I.
1:18 They hooped.
1:19 They showed a lot of character and he had his best
1:21 season and this was a team that had no expectations before
1:24 the beginning of the season and they changed that narrative
1:26 and those expectations throughout the season because of how well they played.
1:29 Uh but he's right.
1:30 He's not wrong.
1:30 I just think the timing was wrong.
1:32 Like great message, great messenger, wrong timing.
1:35 Like right after game seven, you know,
1:37 you probably wait a little bit of time, but there is a flopping issue.
1:40 And that and as a defensive person, like I'm more biased toward the defense.
1:44 I would like to see the defense have more, you know,
1:46 abilities allowed to play it, you know, and be more physical.
1:49 Only certain teams, certain players are allowed to, but there's a way
1:53 to cut out the foul baiting and great players will adjust.
1:55 They'll still be great.
1:56 They'll still find ways to score and still get their free line,
1:59 but there is a flopping problem and they they can change it.
2:02 They emphasize, you know, the in the beginning of the season,
2:04 the flopping where they call technicals.
2:06 They haven't done that in a long time.
2:07 So, there is a way to change it.
2:09 The referees have to referee the game differently.
2:11 And I mean, we'll see if that ever happens,
2:13 but there is a flopping issue in our league and it kind of think
2:16 deteriorates the product when you have to see
2:18 so many free throws throughout the game.
2:20 Um, when you're just trying to watch the flow of the game,
2:21 but it's definitely doable, something you can change.
2:23 And I don't think he's wrong.
2:25 James Harden was back on his yesterday.
2:27 It was awesome.
2:28 Yep.
2:28 It was great to see it.
2:29 It's like if Bob Ross was to come back from heaven and start painting again,
2:34 you would you would have to watch it.
2:36 James Harden had a classic from half court
2:39 guy accidentally puts his hand out shooting a three,
2:43 shoots three free throws, gets to 18 points.
2:45 Okay, it's fourth quarter.
2:46 It's like he's definitely getting a 20.
2:48 Everybody on the court should have known that.
2:50 He gets right past half court, two guys on him.
2:52 He literally bounces off a guy,
2:54 dives out of bounds, spears the coach into the crowd.
2:58 Okay, this entire thing gets two more.
3:00 Worth a 20 for sure.
3:02 It was spectacular to watch.
3:04 I think he's the first one I think of whenever
3:06 I go back to like being able to get baiting.
3:10 Yeah.
3:10 He was so good at I mean it was Yeah.
3:13 And then he was he's he's he's a master class.
3:15 He was one of the first guys to kind
3:17 of know how to manipulate the game a little bit,
3:19 but I would say he was a guy that got hit um quite a bit.
3:23 They stopped calling it for him,
3:24 but there was other guys like Trey Young that knew how to stop jump backwards.
3:27 They changed rules for certain guys.
3:28 you know, Jaylen Brunson's in there.
3:30 SGA is in there.
3:31 Even Luca Joic, uh Joel andB,
3:33 like there's a lot of guys in and the stars, they could say about MV,
3:36 every MVP that's went MVP because they got a lot
3:38 of free throws and it would argument was you can't touch them.
3:41 It's a skill to know how to draw fouls,
3:43 but also be that good where guys can't stop
3:45 you and have to foul you a lot of times.
3:46 But James is one of the originators and that's how he was one of the best
3:50 scorers in this game because he also knew how to get to the free throw line.
3:53 Yeah, he was unbelievable.
3:54 And if you didn't guard him, he was going to make the shot.
3:56 So you he kind of got you in a spot where you got it.
3:59 You're damned if you do, damned if you don't.
4:01 Actually, we're shooting three.
4:02 Thank you so much.
4:03 You're the best, ladies and gentlemen.
4:04 That's Danny Green.
4:07 Danny, hit this guy half court.
4:09 Accidentally puts his hands out.
4:11 You're done.
4:12 Got him.
4:12 It's tough.
4:12 Shoot that thing.
4:13 Hit off the side of the backboard.
