Movie Pitch with Stefon - SNL
Saturday Night Live
0:01 -David, we're very happy you could come in.
0:03 -Yeah.
0:03 Is your brother coming?
0:04 I know you two haven't worked together in a while.
0:05 -You know Stefon will be here.
0:07 You know, he's been going through some stuff
0:08 for the past couple of years, but...
0:09 -Okay, well, we're, uh, we're just glad
0:10 you guys are making movies together again,
0:12 'cause when you do, it's magic.
0:14 Chuckles] -Hi.
0:16 -Hey.
0:17 Stefon, hello.
0:19 -How are you?
0:20 -Stefon, coffee?
0:21 Can I get you coffee?
0:22 -No, I've been awake for, like, three days.
0:24 -Okay.
0:26 -Alright, let's, uh, let's just get started.
0:27 -Alright.
0:29 You know, I can't believe the Zolesky brothers,
0:31 together again.
0:32 -Okay, basically, it starts with this character Bob.
0:35 Um, he's a grandfather,
0:37 kind of cantankerous, but lovable.
0:38 Was a football star in college.
0:41 -Yeah, and it's like he has that thing,
0:42 that, like, jock thing from the '50s when guys are, like,
0:45 cut and they have that, like, V, you know,
0:49 but like the small waist.
0:51 -Yeah.
0:52 Uh-huh.
0:52 But so Bob has this grandson, Eddie,
0:54 who wants to try out for the college football team.
0:57 And Eddie— -Has that, like, twink look—
1:00 like, thin, dumb, NYC nights, like 24th and 8th.
1:04 -No, no, no, no, no.
1:06 That's just— He's the grandson.
1:07 Just think about him like the grandson.
1:09 And he's never really known the grandfather
1:10 because he was raised by these kind of artsy-fartsy parents.
1:14 -And we just see, like, scene after scene of them in, like,
1:17 jeans, you know, with that, like, tight grip here,
1:21 you know, like right here, it's like the shape reads.
1:23 It's like this.
1:24 -I'm sorry.
1:25 What kind of movie is this?
1:26 -It's a family movie.
1:27 The movie's a family movie.
1:28 And then by the second act,
1:30 Eddie realizes that if he wants to make the team,
1:32 he needs his grandfather to help him train.
1:35 -Then it's just, like, quick, sloppy cuts
1:37 of, like, mascara running down their faces
1:41 and, like, adult baby fantasy shots of, like, diaper people,
1:46 and they're, like, into everything,
1:48 like groups, J-offs...
1:49 -No, no, no.
1:50 -...intimidation scenarios, "Newsies" fantasies.
1:54 -You two are— You two are brothers?
1:55 Actual brothers?
1:56 -Yeah, we are, we are.
1:57 The grandfather trains the grandson for the tryouts,
1:59 and eventually Bob and Eddie becomes really close,
2:02 and it helps reunite the big old Irish family.
2:05 -And then it's just, like, effed-up leprechaun situations
2:10 because, you know, like—
2:12 like when ripped midgets have that, like, pony keg chest?
2:16 -So it's really like "Bad News Bears"
2:18 meets "Little Miss Sunshine," you know?
2:20 And for Bob, we're thinking...
2:22 -Like a sunburned, jacked old man.
2:25 -...Tom Wilkinson.
2:27 -Okay, well...
2:29 seems like we have two entirely different ideas here.
2:32 One, one would be yours, David—
2:34 classic coming-of-age story with a "Rudy"-like
2:36 football underdog theme, which I love.
2:38 The other is yours, Stefon—
2:40 uh, some kind of half-remembered gay nightmare.
2:43 Would you agree?
2:43 -Yes.
2:44 We've heard that a lot.
2:45 -Okay, well, we're gonna make yours, David.
2:47 I will tell you that.
2:48 Chuckles] I'm sorry, Stefon, but we can't make your movie.
2:51 -What movie?
2:52 -Okay, um, but, Stefon,
2:54 how would you feel about doing a rewrite for "Wall-E 2"?
2:57 -Yay!
2:59 Energetic music plays] -Good.
3:01 Okay, good.
3:02 -Alright.
3:03 Terrific.
3:03 -Yeah, let's go.
3:04 -Thanks for having me.
