0:34 You know, I admired them before I worked with them.

0:36 Queen Latifah was already ruling like she is now.

0:40 There was Kim Coles, and she was on In Living Color.

0:43 And you had Kim Fields,

0:43 who I had watched since I was a child, who was an icon already.

0:48 And TC Carson was in movies, and John Hinton was new to me.

0:50 But the truth is, you go in, and these are your peers.

0:53 They're also your age peers.

0:54 So, I remember that.

0:55 I remember saying, "Wow,

0:57 they've accomplished so much." I'd come from Cosby Show and a few other things,

1:00 but to have that kind of love and respect, that's what I remember.

1:04 Can you believe you've been acting for over 40 years now?

1:07 Over 40 years.

1:08 Yes, I am.

1:09 And you better look good, too, while doing it.

1:11 First [laughter] of all, I got to say, you look the same.

1:21 You were also in the horror movie Get Out.

1:31 I thought it was a comedy.

1:32 Now, as you can see, I play uh uh Captain Latoya.

1:37 And um she is um going to be asked by Lil Rel to go look for his friend.

1:42 He's holding a dog telling this tall tale, and she has no idea.

1:46 So, you know, we know Jordan Peele from, you know, comedy.

1:49 And I thought I was in a comedy till my friend saw the trailer and said,

1:56 "Yo, Erica." Ben Arnon, who I do Color Farm Media with.

1:59 He's my co-founder.

2:00 He said, "I think you're in a horror movie." I said, "For real?"

2:05 And then they had that great marketing campaign campaign,

2:08 "Do you belong in this neighborhood?" And for sure, it was a horror movie.

2:13 And I went to the premiere, and I was as shocked as everybody else.

2:19 THAT THIS IS AMAZING.

2:21 [laughter] YEAH.

2:23 SO, you know, you got to stay open.

2:25 You know.

2:27 [laughter] Thank you for sharing that.

2:50 And you know, that's where we got to know each other a little bit,

2:53 but this is a big deal cuz I play his ex-wife,

2:55 a sports agent manager, business manager.

2:58 And so, we're all in.

2:59 And he is one of one.

3:02 You said at the basketball game And I

3:03 got knocked upside the head with that ball.

3:04 Yes, I know.

3:05 He would probably say, "You should have been looking, Jennifer.

3:10 YOU KNOW, WHAT ARE YOU NOT PAYING ATTENTION?

3:14 She can sing, but she's turning her head at a game, you know." Oh my god.

3:19 That was ex- Y'all sound just like him.

3:22 THAT'S HIM.

3:23 THAT'S HIM.

3:24 HE'S ONE OF ONE.

3:25 HE is one of me of them.

3:27 Erica, they didn't want you, but I wanted you.

3:30 So, he just says whatever.

3:31 He said that at the table read, the first table read.

3:32 I was like, "Wow, thanks, Tracy." That's exactly what No, you know, you're you.

3:40 And we're going to do this for a long time.

3:42 8 years, maybe 13, 20 years.

3:44 I said, "Really, 20, Tracy?

3:46 Maybe 40." There's no telling He's steady bringing us great things,

3:53 and I'm love watching I'm loving watching it.

3:56 So, let's talk about your new new movie, Is God Is.

4:01 Tell us of the everyone [applause] about who you play and what it's about.

4:06 Um Is God Is is a revenge story.

4:09 Uh Alicia Harris is the writer-director.

4:12 She's a force to be reckoned with.

4:14 She did this as a play, and now it is a movie.

4:17 It's Vivica Fox, it's uh Kara Young,

4:21 um Malory Johnson, brilliant Janelle Monáe, Sterling K.

4:25 Brown, me, and uh these two twins fulfill the last dying wish of their mother.

4:31 And uh you get to go on the trip with them.

4:33 And I play Divine.

4:35 And Divine is a woman who knew their father.

4:37 Hot glory.

4:39 And so, you'll see what that's about when you see it.

4:41 But we're really excited.

4:42 It's May 15th, and it's a big deal because if this time is about anything,

4:47 it's about the new auteurs, the new minds,

4:49 the new imaginations that are putting themselves forward.

4:52 And they look like the world.

4:54 It's diverse.

4:55 It's beautiful.

4:56 It's uh bizarre and strange.

4:59 And Alicia Harris is at the head of the pack.

5:01 I'm grateful for her and Cord Jefferson and Jordan Peele.

5:05 They put me in their movie, but I told them, "I was a rabbit's foot.

5:08 Put me in your movie, and that sucker's going to be a hit." Come on.
