5:18 with less pollution people are healthier there
5:22 are too many cars all the cars taxis and buses are a danger to bicyclists there
5:29 is too much traffic there should be fewer cars
5:33 but I think that the biggest problem is
5:36 parking there just isn't enough parking listening Singapore
5:44 solves it listen to a resident of Singapore
5:48 talk about how his city has tried to solve
5:50 its traffic problems Singapore has done a lot
5:55 to try to solve its traffic problems

6:00 district motorists need to buy a special pass they
6:04 can go into the business district only if
6:07 they have the pass on the windshield another
6:10 thing Singapore has done is to make it
6:12 more difficult to buy cars people have to apply
6:16 for a certificate before they can buy
6:18 a car not everyone can get a certificate there's
6:21 a limited number of them there's also a high tax on cars so a new one costs
6:27 a lot of money a car can cost three or four times more in Singapore than
6:33 in the US or Canada the other thing
6:36 Singapore has done is build an excellent public transportation

12:48 of small rooms actually they're not really rooms
12:51 they're spaces that are two meters by one

20:07 perspectives travel advice listen to these pieces of advice from experienced
20:15 travelers what topic is each person talking about you should tell
20:21 the driver where you're going before you get on and you have
20:24 to have exact change for the fare when you fly you
20:29 should keep important things in your carry-on bag such as your medication
20:33 and credit cards you shouldn't pack them in your checked luggage you
20:38 should try some of the local specialties but you'd better avoid the stalls
20:43 on the street in most countries you don't have to have
20:47 an international driver's license but you must have a license from your own
20:51 country you also need to be 21 or over you ought
20:57 to pack a first-aid kit and any medication you need you shouldn't
21:01 drink water from the tap you ought to keep a copy
21:05 of your credit card numbers at the hotel and you shouldn't carry
21:09 a lot of cash when you go out listening tourist tips listen
21:18 to an interview with a spokeswoman from the New York City Visitors
21:22 Centre what should people do to make their visit to New
21:30 York City safe and pleasant don't try to do too much
21:35 in a short time that's very important you should start planning before
21:39 you get here you ought to decide in advance which sites you most
21:43 want to see are there any good tours available oh yes
21:48 there are many some companies offer bus tours that stop at all
21:52 the major tourist attractions you can buy a pass so you can
21:57 get on and off wherever you like that saves you time and you
22:02 should visit our website to find out about the latest tours
22:04 and special events I see and is New York a safe City
22:09 for visitors it's safer than many cities in the world but just
22:14 like in any big city you should still be careful for example
22:19 don't go off on your own especially at night and never
22:23 carry much cash on you oh and don't be afraid to ask
22:27 questions even American visitors have to ask for help when they come
22:31 here you'll find that New Yorkers are pretty friendly they like welcoming
22:36 visitors to their city and are happy to give directions one
22:40 last thing is it an expensive city to visit it can be
22:44 but there are a lot of places in the city where you
22:47 don't have to spend a lot of money if you're a student
22:50 you should bring your student ID card with you that way
22:54 you can get a discount at museums and galleries is there anything
22:59 else you'd like to add yeah just that most people have
23:03 a great time when they come to New York and I'm sure you
23:07 will too conversation turn down the TV listen and practice Jason
23:23 Jason turn down the TV please oh but this is my favorite

24:18 and he can never find his glasses either I know you know
24:23 what drives me crazy about mom what the awful clothes she wears
24:29 her style is so old-fashioned it's embarrassing yeah she could use
24:35 some fashion advice she should go shopping with you oh well I
24:40 guess they're just getting old I hope I never get like
24:43 that me too hey come on let's go play that new game online
24:48 a great idea by the way have you seen my glasses

25:33 on in the program we'll be taking your phone calls and talking to dr.
25:37 Walters a family psychologist who will answer
25:39 your questions and now for the results of the survey jeffer well in response
25:45 to the first question who is the messiest person
25:48 in the house the answer was boys 92% of you said that your sons or brothers
25:55 don't help much around the house they don't pick up their things don't hang up
26:00 their clothes and leave their clothes lying
26:03 around interesting and what about the second question
26:06 Jennifer that was who does most of the work in the kitchen well 84% of you
26:13 answered women many of you also explained that the boys and men usually take out
26:19 the garbage the girls and women tend to cook do the dishes and clean up and what
26:25 about the groceries Jennifer well according to our results
26:28 boys and girls usually put the groceries
26:31 away that's surprising so what else do the women do ah well that's our next
26:37 question who worries most about expenses
26:40 in the majority of homes it seems that women
26:44 worry most about household expenses one young
26:48 man wrote to us saying my mother always
26:50 nags me and my sister she tells us to get off the phone to stop
26:55 spending so long on the computer to turn
26:57 off the TV well everything really I always
27:01 thought she just liked to nag but maybe she's really worried about money I think
27:07 that's probably true don't you John yes very
27:11 interesting and now I'd like to introduce dr.
27:13 Walters perspectives reasonable requests are all
27:23 the requests reasonable one could you
27:28 please tell me the next time you have a party I'd like
27:31 to make sure I'm not at home- can you turn the music
27:37 down please the walls are really thin so the sound goes through
27:42 to my apartment three would you mind closing the door behind you
27:48 and making sure it locks we don't want strangers to enter the building
27:54 for would you please tell your guests to use the visitor parking
27:59 spaces a lot of cars have been using my space recently five
28:06 would you mind not putting your garbage in the hallway it's not
28:11 very pleasant to see when I walk by listening summer plans listen
28:21 to Judy Paul and Brenda described their summer plans what is each
28:27 person going to do one Judy so what are you planning to do
28:34 on your vacation Judy oh I'm going to do something different this year
28:38 I went to Hawaii last year and just relaxed on the beach
28:42 for two weeks this year I'm going whitewater rafting ooh that sounds
28:48 fun but what is that exactly oh well they have these trips
28:53 down the rapids the water gets really rough but I think it'll
28:58 be really exciting oh I'm doing some mountain climbing too and you
29:03 call that a vacation- Paul what are your plans for the summer
29:11 Paul oh I'd love to go and lie on a beach somewhere
29:14 but I need to save some money for school I think I'll
29:18 stay home and get a job that doesn't sound like much fun oh
29:22 it won't be so bad some of my friends are going to work
29:26 this summer too so we'll have a good time on the weekends
29:30 three Brenda have you planned anything for the summer Brenda yeah I'm
29:37 going to work the first month and save some money then I'm
29:40 going to Mexico to visit my sister she's working in Guadalajara she
29:45 says it's really interesting there so I want to see what it's
29:48 like I'm really looking forward to it listening offline and proud
29:57 of it listen to a radio program about the Internet we've all heard
30:07 stories about how internet use is
30:09 growing today however we're talking with someone
30:13 who has studied people who don't use the Internet let's welcome dr.
30:18 Tom Van Cleave to the program thank you it's nice to be here thanks for coming
30:23 now I understand that many people still
30:27 don't use the Internet is that right what
30:30 can you tell us that's right my research has revealed that in the United States
30:36 for example about 22% of the population never
30:40 uses the Internet and why is that well
30:43 they tend to be older people or people living in more rural areas but there
30:49 are also those who worried about privacy
30:51 or who think that the internet isn't necessary
30:54 in their lives some of these people are
30:57 even proud to be independent from the online
30:59 world interesting in your new book you
31:03 mention net evaders can you explain what you
31:07 mean by this well lots of people live with someone who browses websites but they
31:12 still don't log on themselves I call
31:16 this group net evaders I found that these people
31:19 may ask a family member to send emails for them for example but they don't
31:24 want to do it themselves I know someone like that yes and then there's another
31:30 group of people I call Internet dropouts
31:34 internet dropouts what exactly does that mean it
31:39 refers to people who once used the Internet
31:41 but have stopped using it for some reason
31:44 they may not have a computer anymore may not have enough time or simply may
31:50 not be interested I see well thanks very
31:54 much for sharing that information with us dr.

32:27 in the name of your playlist then go to your song file and choose the ones you
32:32 want but how do I choose the songs just drag them to the playlist be sure
32:38 to press these keys to highlight more than
32:40 one song that was easy Thanks so are you
32:45 coming on Saturday of course but don't forget
32:49 to include my favorite songs on your playlist okay

34:58 a hotel room early because hotels fill up really
35:01 quickly people celebrate carnival all over Brazil but the most
35:06 famous party is in Rio de Janeiro there
35:09 are colorful decorations all over the city it's
35:12 really beautiful and everyone is very friendly especially
35:16 to visitors from other countries my favorite thing
35:19 about Carnaval is the big parade the costumes are
35:23 amazing people work on them for months it's
35:26 really fantastic to watch everyone dances the Samba
35:30 in the streets I'd really recommend you try
35:33 to go to Rio for Carnaval conversation wedding day listen
35:42 and practice your wedding pictures are really beautiful
35:48 amico thank you those pictures are from right after
35:52 the ceremony where was the ceremony at a shrine
35:56 when people get married in Japan they sometimes
36:00 have the ceremony at a shrine that's interesting
36:03 where there are a lot of people there well
36:06 usually only family members and close friends go
36:10 to the ceremony but afterward we had a reception
36:13 with family and friends so what our receptions
36:17 like in Japan there's a big dinner and after
36:21 the meal the guests give speeches or sing songs it sounds like fun it really is
36:27 and then before the guests leave the bride
36:31 and groom give them presents the guests get presents
36:35 yes and the guests give money to the bride
36:38 and groom listen to the rest of the conversation
36:44 what did the bride and groom give each
36:47 guest I'm curious what did you and your husband
36:52 give everyone well sugar is a symbol of happiness in Japan so he gave each guest
36:58 a box filled with sweets what a nice
37:01 custom it sounds like it was a wonderful day
37:05 ah it really was listening marriage customs listen
37:16 to some information about marriage customs one you know
37:22 this book about marriage customs is really interesting
37:25 oh yeah yeah listen to this it talks about
37:29 this native tribe in Paraguay uh-huh when two
37:32 women in the tribe want to marry the same
37:34 man guess what they do I have no idea what they have a boxing match and fight
37:40 until one of them wins and the prize is the husband of course- hmm does the book
37:49 say anything about Malaysia uh I don't know
37:53 why well when people get married in Malaysia they
37:57 have to eat rice during the ceremony yeah
38:00 what's so strange about that it's uncooked rice three
38:07 oh here's another one don't laugh but I
38:12 think this is really romantic you think something is
38:15 romantic what is it in Italy a friend
38:19 or family member often brings a pair of white
38:21 doves to the wedding after the ceremony the cage
38:25 is open and the doves fly into the air
38:27 the birds symbolize the couple's love and happiness
38:30 you're right that is romantic for and here's
38:38 an interesting I'm from India let's hear it
38:41 there's a special Hindu water pouring ceremony during
38:44 the wedding and what happens well when the Indian
38:48 bride and groom are married someone pours water
38:51 all over both of them why do they do that it says here that it brings
38:56 the couple closer together interesting conversation that's progress
39:06 listen and practice this neighborhood sure has changed I
39:16 know a few years ago not many people
39:18 lived here but the population is growing so fast
39:22 these days remember how we used to rent
39:24 videotapes at that little video store yeah now it's
39:28 a multiplex cinema and I hear they're tearing
39:31 down our high school they're going to build
39:33 a shopping mall soon there will be just malls
39:36 and parking lots that's because everyone has a car
39:39 fifty years ago people walked everywhere nowadays they
39:43 drive that's progress I guess listen to the rest
39:51 of the conversation what else has changed
39:54 in their neighborhood well what about that old bookstore do
40:01 you know if it's still there no it's not now it's a hair salon really what about
40:08 the Thai restaurant next to it I loved
40:10 that place oh that's still there let's go there
40:14 this weekend I'll Drive I can pick you
40:17 up great listening for better or for worse listen
40:26 to people discuss changes one how long have
40:32 you been living here Oh for over 20 years
40:35 and have you noticed a lot of changes during that time oh yes quite a few
40:39 this is a much nicer place to live now than it used to be it's much greener
40:45 when I first moved here there weren't many
40:47 trees around but over the last few years
40:50 the city has planted trees everywhere it's made such
40:54 a difference- how do you like living here well
41:01 it's an interesting City but you really need
41:04 a car here you can't go anywhere without one
41:07 there used to be a good bus system but there isn't anymore why is that oh I
41:14 think they expect everyone to have a car
41:16 so they don't bother to provide decent bus service
41:19 it's getting worse and worse these days you have to wait a long time for a bus
41:25 and when one finally shows up it's usually
41:29 full three I can't believe how much this neighborhood
41:36 has changed what do you mean well when
41:39 Joe and I first bought this house that was almost 20 years ago of course there
41:44 were lots of young couples with children living
41:46 on this street I don't see any kids out
41:48 today that's because they've all grown up and moved
41:51 out of their parents houses the only young
41:54 children we see around here these days are
41:56 the grandchildren when they come to visit it's too
41:59 bad I missed the sounds of kids playing it's
42:03 gotten way too quiet around here conversation I
42:10 need a job listen and practice I'm so broke
42:17 I really need to find a job so do I do you see anything good listed how
42:23 about this telephone sales job you call people
42:26 and try to sell them magazines that sounds
42:29 boring and anyway I'm not very good at selling well I am I might check that one
42:34 out oh here's one for you an assistant
42:38 entertainment director on a cruise ship that sounds like
42:41 fun I love traveling and I've never been on a cruise ship it says here you have
42:46 to work every day while the ship is at sea that's okay I don't mind working long
42:51 hours if the pay is good I think I'll apply for it listen to Brad's phone call
43:00 what else does the job require hello hello
43:11 this is the employment office of holiday cruise lines
43:14 may I speak with Brad hello this is Brad
43:17 ah good Brad we got your application for assistant
43:22 entertainment director your skills look good but I
43:25 have a question do you speak any other languages
43:28 no not really oh that's too bad we're
43:33 really looking for someone who can speak at least
43:35 one other language I'm sorry but we'll keep
43:38 your application and call you if another job
43:41 comes up oh okay well thank you for calling me and I hope to hear from you
43:47 again listening job-hunting listen to people talk about
43:56 the kind of work they are looking for check
43:59 the job that would be best for each person one bill so what kind of job are
44:07 you looking for well I haven't made up my mind I love working with people and I
44:13 love travelling I don't want a job where I'm stuck in an office all day I want
44:17 to get out and see the world are
44:19 you interested in working in business that's where
44:22 you can sometimes make good money I'm not
44:24 really interested in making a lot of money at this point in my life I'll worry
44:28 about that later- Shannon what kind of career are
44:36 you planning for yourself I don't know I think
44:39 I'd like to have a job where I can help people everybody else in my family is
44:43 in law or business you know boring stuff like
44:46 that that's just not for me I know I'd
44:49 like to work overseas though maybe in a Children's
44:52 Hospital in a developing country but that's a long
44:55 way away I have to get into medical
44:58 school first and that's not going to be easy three been what kind of job do
45:07 I have in mind well I don't want
45:09 a regular nine-to-five job eventually I'd like to get
45:13 into acting maybe even break into movies
45:16 but I guess that won't happen for a while
45:18 so what are you doing in the meantime well I work out at the gym nearly every
45:24 day I need to be really fit and I'm taking acting lessons as well so that I
45:29 feel comfortable in front of the crowd I
45:31 just had some pictures taken to show two agents
45:34 in the city would you like to see
45:35 them sure perspectives job profiles listen to these people
45:45 answer the question what kind of work would
45:49 you like to do what job does each person talk about well I think I'd make a good
45:56 journalist because I'm good at writing when I
45:59 was in college I worked as a reporter
46:01 for the school website I really enjoyed writing
46:04 different kinds of articles I know what I don't want to do a lot of my friends
46:10 work in the stock market but I could
46:12 never be a stockbroker because I can't make decisions
46:15 quickly I don't mind working hard but I'm
46:19 terrible under pressure I'm still in school my parents
46:23 want me to be a teacher but I'm not sure yet I guess I could be
46:29 a teacher because I'm very creative I'm also very
46:32 impatient so maybe I shouldn't work with kids listening
46:40 good or bad listen to Louisa and Tim
46:44 discuss for jobs right down the jobs and check
46:49 if they would be good or bad at them one Louisa I don't know what class is
46:57 to take this semester I can't decide what I want to do with my life have you
47:01 thought about it Louisa a little bit my history
47:04 professor says I should think about a career
47:06 in politics but I don't think I'd make a good politician why not oh you know
47:11 me I'm not good at working with other
47:13 people I'm too moody and politicians have to work
47:17 with people all the time that's true so what do you think you want to do well
47:22 honestly I think I'd make a good architect
47:26 oh you would you're so creative and I love
47:29 drawing and I don't know making things plus
47:32 then I'd get to work alone a lot- Tim
47:39 that reminds me of a problem I'm having what
47:42 is it you know my parents have a restaurant
47:45 right well my father wants me to be the manager and you don't want to no
47:50 way restaurant managers have to manage other people
47:53 I'd be terrible I'm too disorganized so what do
47:57 you want to do well I think I could be a good teacher I like working
48:01 with kids and I'm pretty patient that's true
48:04 and you're very hard-working perspectives the Empire State Building now
48:14 listen what information is the most surprising okay
48:24 folks here we are in the Empire State Building
48:28 the history of the Empire State Building is
48:31 filled with many interesting facts and figures it was
48:35 designed by American architect William lamb to become
48:39 the tallest building in the world construction began
48:42 in March 1930 and by October of that same
48:46 year 88 floors were already finished in 1931 after
48:53 14 months and 25 million dollars the building's
48:58 102 floors were officially opened by US President
49:02 Herbert Hoover in 1964 colored lights were added
49:07 to the top by the building's owners the colors
49:11 change almost every night while it's no longer
49:14 the world's tallest building it is still seen
49:17 as a symbol of New York City and people
49:20 from all over the world visit the building every
49:23 year it has even been featured in some
49:26 of Hollywood's biggest films including King Kong and Sleepless

56:02 the new Star Trek film I hear it's really
56:04 exciting actually the last one was boring what
56:08 about the movie based on Stephen King's new novel
56:10 I don't know his books are usually fascinating
56:14 but I don't like horror movies well what do
56:17 you want to see I'm interested in the new
56:19 Sandra Bullock movie it looks good that's fine
56:22 with me she's a wonderful actress listen
56:28 to the rest of the conversation what happens next what
56:33 do they decide to do yeah her last

57:14 like it listen to people talk about books
57:17 movies and TV programs which ones do you think
57:21 they would recommend one what do you think
57:26 of sue Grafton's books I love those mysteries
57:29 when I started to read a is for alibi I couldn't put it down I stayed up
57:35 till four o'clock in the morning to finish it Wow have you read any of the other
57:41 books in the series oh yeah B is for burglar c is for corpse I'm already up
57:48 to K is for killer using the alphabet to build a mystery series is such a clever
57:54 idea I can't wait to read all 26 books I wonder what Z will be to how
58:04 did you like the movie well I walked out after half an hour you did yeah it
58:11 was so dull that I started falling asleep
58:14 and I've never seen such bad acting I think
58:19 I'm going to start reading movie reviews online
58:21 so I don't waste my money three did you
58:27 see that documentary on TV last night the one
58:30 about Australia I did I learned so much I didn't know they had so many different
58:36 kinds of animals there and the photography yeah it
58:41 was something wasn't it aha it was pretty
58:44 amazing it made me really want to go there and see it for myself for are you
58:52 reading that book- it seems everyone's reading it now
58:56 when did UFOs become so popular anyway actually
59:00 I just finished it what a waste of time just the same silly stuff about visitors
59:07 to earth from other planets I know it said
59:11 absolutely nothing new you know I'm sick of hearing
59:15 stories about little green creatures if they're real
59:18 how come no one can ever take a picture
59:20 of them perspectives it's about listen to people
59:29 talk about some of their Hollywood favorites can
59:33 you guess the actress actor or movie each person
59:36 is describing one he's an actor who often
59:42 plays unusual characters he's fantastic as the Mad Hatter
59:46 in Alice in Wonderland and Captain Jack Sparrow
59:49 in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies- this action
59:56 movie came out in 2010 and stars Leonardo
59:59 DiCaprio as a thief who is able to steal
1:00:01 information from people's minds it's kind of confusing
1:00:05 but the special effects are amazing three it's
1:00:12 a science fiction movie that was directed by James
1:00:15 Cameron it's a beautiful film that takes place
1:00:18 on the moon Pandora in the year 2154 it's
1:00:22 a story about the clash of cultures and civilizations
1:00:27 for she's an actress who is excellent in both
1:00:32 dramas and comedies I loved her in Mamma Mia and the Iron Lady I haven't seen
1:00:39 a lot of her earlier movies though listening
1:00:45 a night at the movies listen to two critics talk about a new movie what do they
1:00:52 like or not like about it welcome to a night
1:00:57 at the movies I'm Pauline Kaplan and I'm
1:01:00 Colin Hale good evening tonight we're going to review
1:01:04 the new James Bond film well I really like this new James Bond actor very very
1:01:10 much mm-hmm he's the best actor that's ever had
1:01:13 the role warm human even funny a totally
1:01:18 believable character I have to agree a perfect double-oh-seven
1:01:22 type Pauline what did you think of the story it was a standard story for a Bond
1:01:28 movie the usual beautiful women the usual evil
1:01:32 villain nothing new well I'm surprised I have
1:01:36 to say that I thought the story was unusually
1:01:38 good the racecar scenes were exciting and the surprise
1:01:41 ending was great well I can't agree
1:01:44 with you there really what did you think about
1:01:47 the music I wasn't impressed at all by the music I loved the James Bond theme
1:01:52 but what they did with it was awful too modern for me I can't believe you I
1:01:58 haven't heard such interesting music in a movie
1:02:01 in a long time it really added to the action
1:02:04 scenes now that brings up another weakness
1:02:07 in the film the special effects again it's just
1:02:10 the same old stuff the car that flies the pen that's really a gun you get tired
1:02:16 of that kind of thing I'd hardly believe you and I saw the same movie Pauline I
1:02:21 have to say that the special effects were
1:02:23 the best ever in a Bond film for example
1:02:25 the scene where excuse me Colin we're going
1:02:29 to have to break for a commercial you're right
1:02:31 Pauline we'll be right back with our ratings
1:02:34 [Music] conversation have you met Raj listen and practice
1:02:46 have you met Raj the student from India no I haven't well he seems really nice
1:02:53 but there's one thing I noticed he moves
1:02:56 his head from side to side when you talk to him you know like this maybe it
1:03:02 means he doesn't understand you no I don't think
1:03:05 so or it could mean he doesn't agree
1:03:08 with you actually people from India sometimes move their heads
1:03:12 from side to side when they agree with you oh so that's what it means now listen
1:03:21 to Raj talked to his friend what does
1:03:24 he find unusual about the way people in North
1:03:27 America communicate so how are things at school
1:03:31 Raj oh pretty good actually do you find it easy to communicate with people most
1:03:37 of the time though there are some things I find
1:03:40 a bit unusual for example the way that people
1:03:43 end the conversation you know they'll say things
1:03:46 like hey let's get together soon at first
1:03:49 I thought that they were inviting me to do
1:03:51 something but then I realize it's just a way
1:03:54 of saying goodbye it's not really an invitation at all it takes a bit of getting
1:03:59 used to listening sign-language listen to three conversations about
1:04:09 driving one oh no not another parking ticket
1:04:18 that's the second one this week why did I
1:04:22 get a ticket for parking here I thought
1:04:24 this was a free parking zone maybe you can
1:04:27 only park here after working hours is there
1:04:30 a sign around anywhere oh you're right there's one
1:04:34 over there I didn't even notice it looks
1:04:37 like you can't park here till after 6:00 p.m.
1:04:39 how much is the fine would you believe it $60 to I wonder why
1:04:52 that traffic officer is signaling me perhaps
1:04:55 he means you're driving too fast no I
1:04:58 don't think so the speed limit is 60 and I'm only going 55 hmm I
1:05:04 wonder why there are no other cars in this lane what do you mean well
1:05:09 you see how the other cars are all in the lane next to us
1:05:12 you're right I think this one is just for buses and taxis they really should
1:05:19 put up better signs around here three
1:05:27 that's weird the last few cars driving tortoise
1:05:31 were flashing their lights I see what
1:05:33 you mean there's another one maybe my lights
1:05:36 are on or something let me check no they're off do you think there's
1:05:41 an accident up ahead maybe you'd better slow down oh now I see what's happening
1:05:47 there's a patrol car up ahead checking people's speed how nice of those other
1:05:52 drivers to let me know well I'm within the speed limit at least I am
1:05:57 now listening that's how I feel listen to some people talking right what each
1:06:08 person is talking about one that road sign looks kind of strange to me I
1:06:19 wonder what it means perhaps it means the road gets slippery when it's wet
1:06:24 or it might mean that the road is very curvy- that's the last time I'll watch
1:06:33 one of his movies it started out okay but the ending was terrible the last
1:06:38 scene could mean they stay together but it may also mean they never see
1:06:42 each other again I can't stand when directors leave the ending so open three wow
1:06:52 that lecture really made me think everything
1:06:56 the professor said makes sense I could never
1:06:59 understand Greek philosophy before but he made it also clear maybe this means I
1:07:05 should change my major to philosophy for I
1:07:14 can't believe how many rules they have
1:07:17 at this pool they look through all your bags to make sure you don't have
1:07:21 any food or glass containers I guess that probably means a lot of people try
1:07:26 to bring those things in all I wanted was to go for a swim
1:07:33 conversation if I found $750,000 listen and practice
1:07:41 look at this some guy found $750,000
1:07:47 he returned it and the owner simply thanked him with a phone call you're kidding
1:07:52 if I found $750,000 I wouldn't return it so fast why what would you do
1:08:00 well I'd go out and start spending it I could buy lots of nice
1:08:05 clothes and jewelry someone might also find out about it and then you could go
1:08:10 to jail hmm you've got a point there listen to the rest of the conversation
1:08:19 what would Phil do if he found $750,000 so what would you do if you
1:08:27 found $750,000 oh you know me Pat I'm so honest I scare myself sometimes I'd
1:08:35 take the money straight to the police I guess that wouldn't be such a bad
1:08:39 idea maybe you'd be luckier than the guy in the article maybe the owner
1:08:44 of the money would give you a big reward well they say honesty pays right
1:08:52 listening tough predicaments listen to three people
1:08:57 talk about predicaments one I just got
1:09:03 a postcard from my friend Carrie she lost all her money on vacation in Europe
1:09:08 isn't that horrible yeah that's terrible Jane what would you do if you are
1:09:13 on vacation overseas and you lost all
1:09:16 your money in credit cards I guess I'd call
1:09:19 my parents and ask them to send me some money right away what about
1:09:23 you Bert yeah I'd probably do the same thing although maybe I'd try going
1:09:29 to the embassy or consulate to see if they could help me what about you
1:09:33 Susan well I guess I'd probably sell my watch and camera or I might get
1:09:40 a job as a waitress somewhere till I made enough money to buy a plane
1:09:44 ticket home- you know I'm really worried about Carol why well I think she has
1:09:53 a serious shopping problem really yes she keeps
1:09:58 buying things and putting everything on her credit
1:10:01 card I don't think she realizes how hard it's going to be to pay
1:10:05 all the money back I don't know what to do what would you do
1:10:09 if you discovered a friend had major financial problems oh no question I'd talk
1:10:15 to her about it oh I don't think I would why not well because it's
1:10:22 really none of my business I wouldn't tell a friend what to do in that type
1:10:26 of situation so I wouldn't say or do anything about it well I think
1:10:32 I'd probably talk to her family about it it's a personal problem and they should
1:10:38 try to help her first three you know I was faced with a tough
1:10:45 situation the other day I was walking
1:10:48 down the street and saw two people fighting
1:10:50 it looked pretty violent but I didn't know what to do so I just
1:10:54 walked away I figured it was none of my business but now I think I
1:11:00 should have done something what would you do if you saw two people fighting
1:11:04 on the street I'm not really sure but I know I'd have to do something I
1:11:09 guess I would call the police no that takes too long I try to break
1:11:15 it up but you could get hurt if you did that well then I'd
1:11:19 try to get someone to help me break it up in the meantime I'd shout
1:11:23 for someone to call the police listening
1:11:29 I'm calling about listen to people calling dr.

1:13:13 told him someone had stolen the car oh
1:13:17 you should have told your father the truth
