An 'egregious cover-up': Dems say Howard Lutnick blatantly lied in his testimony about Epstein ties
The Hill
0:00 Howard Lutnick is a pathological liar who is
0:03 enabling the most egregious cover-up in American history.
0:07 They went to his home, they took a tour,
0:09 and allegedly were so uncomfortable after seeing
0:12 the massage tables in Jeffrey Epstein's home.
0:14 He said that he would never socially or professionally be
0:18 involved or be in a room with Jeffrey Epstein again.
0:21 Then in 2012, he took his family and his staff to Jeffrey Epstein's Island.
0:28 I recommend that every single American,
0:30 when this interview is released, read the document in full.
0:34 Contortions and lies and no acknowledgement that he misled the American public.
0:40 And if you saw the exchanges that my colleagues had with him,
0:43 you would see he made a farce of the English language.
0:48 I mean, he was trying to define I as if saying
0:54 that what he really meant is that he would not see Epstein alone,
0:59 but he'd be totally fine with having his wife and kids kids see Epstein.
1:03 It made no sense.
1:05 He originally had said that Epstein
1:08 engaged in blackmail and recorded videotapes.
1:12 Now he's saying, "Well, he was wrong.
1:14 He was just speculating and Epstein actually didn't engage
1:18 in blackmailing." This raises the question of what the cover-up is.
1:22 Did someone tell him to say that?
1:24 Howard Lutnick should resign.
1:26 That was absolutely mind-boggling what we just heard in the room.
1:29 He was evasive, nervous, he was dishonest.
1:32 I had to ask him whether he and I were in the same room just
1:34 now because I couldn't understand his meaning
1:37 of we were in the same room together.
1:39 He doesn't remember why he went to Jeffrey Epstein's Island,
1:42 which is also mind-boggling.
1:43 He somehow remembers going to the Island after
1:45 pictures surfaced of him being at the Island,
1:48 but he doesn't remember why he went to the Island.
1:50 Chairman Comer said that he hadn't seen
1:52 any evidence of wrongdoing by Secretary Lutnick.
1:57 And that's actually the problem
1:58 with the Trump administration and this Republican
2:00 majority in Congress because lying to the American people is wrongdoing.
2:05 And Howard Lutnick lied to the American people.
2:08 I hope today that we would have heard some remorse,
2:11 some contrition from Secretary Lutnick for flat
2:15 out lying to the American people.
2:17 Instead, what we've heard thus far is hours of testimony
2:21 where he's attempting to redefine the meaning of the word I.
2:25 He was asked by a number of us if he spoke
2:27 to President Trump about today's testimony
2:30 and he refused to answer that question.
2:32 He did say he didn't speak to President
2:34 Trump or Donald Trump when he was not President,
2:37 but he would not answer the question as to whether
2:39 he spoke to President Trump about today's testimony.
